Culture And Menarche Research Paper
To begin with, the topic that I chose to research about is Culture and Menarche it can be located in
the Development of Children and Adolescents book in chapter fourteen page 522. In this research
box it talks about young women and how they cope with their menstrual cycle in different cultures.
Culture and menarche are a unique sociocultural phenomenon, rife with mythic symbols: blood, the
color red, pain, and lunar synchrony, fertility, power, sexuality, cleanliness, and secrecy. (Hauser
Cram).Which was Known as the curse, my visiting friend, and many other names used to hide its
identity, menstruation is an experience that women in our culturehave been strongly encouraged to
keep under wraps for generations. How the menstrual cycle works... Show more content on

Puberty and nutrition, variability in the timing of menarche and social implications. Puberty
refers to the set of physical changes that signal the onset of reproductive maturation. According
to the book, the onset of puberty is complex, involving several factors, such as individuals and
family genetics and family dynamic. Before the 1900 s, the average age of menarche for girls in
the United States was over 14. In today s society 80% of all American girls reach menarche
between the ages 11 and 13.75, with a mean of 12.5 years. The comparison age of menarche
worldwide is 13.5 years, ranging from 12.5 to 14.5 years, with even later menarche found among
malnourished girls in undeveloped countries. Girls are known for reaching their menarche at
about the same time as their biological mothers, suggesting a genetic influence. The racial/ethnic
are found fairly consistently. In the United States, Caucasian girls tend to reach menarche
between 3 to 5.5 months later than African American and Hispanic girls; but a there is a deal of
variability. Based on genetic heritage, weight, and diet. For example an overweight Caucasian girl
may reach menarche earlier than her average weight biological sister, earlier than a slender
African American girl, and at the same time as a Hispanic girl of average

Family Vacation to Myrtle Beach
I remember the first time I stepped on to ocean beach sand! Swoosh Swoosh, the sounds of
ocean waves crashing into the lightly brown smooth sand on the beach. I remember the soft,
smooth sand seeping through the cracks of my toes! The sun was beating down from the blue
sky. Heat waves moved across the sand as I looked out into the deep blue ocean! It was all so
beautiful! Thats when I knew this was going to be the greatest vacation ever! I knew that my family
and I we re about have a blast on this vacation! It was the start of our vacation, we were all so
excited to go down to the beach and swim in the ocean, and go shopping, and eat all the
delicious food. My family s and I resort that we were staying at was beautiful we had a ginormous

around you. As we walked down the strip there was tall buildings all light up. When we walk out
by the ocean the waves were still crashing in at a high tide so the waves were coming up further
in the sand. When you looked out into the ocean you could see the city behind you glimmer in it.
It was beautiful. When we arrived back at our condo, we decided to go night swimming. When

Isaac Newton Accomplishments
Sir Isaac Newton is commonly thought of as one of the most influential scientists of all time.
During his life, he was recognized as a mathematician, an astronomer, a theologian, and a physicist.
He was an incredible man who had many great accomplishments during his life. It is said that he
contributed to every area of mathematics that was studied before and during his lifetime.
Isaac Newton was born on January 4, 1643 in Woolsthorpe, Lincolnshire, England. His father was
a farmer who died before he was born. He was small and weak when he was born prematurely
and was not expected to survive. When Isaac was about two years old, his mother remarried a
prominent minister. She soon moved to live in a neighboring village with her new husband and left
Isaac to be raised by his grandmother. He remained with his grandmother for nine years until the
death of his step father.
When Isaac was 12 years old, he started school at The King s School in Grantham, England. He
studied Latin, Greek, and math there until the age of 17. He briefly left the school when his mother
decided that he should become a farmer, something he was not interested in. She was eventually
persuaded to let him finish his education by the headmaster of his school. While there, he excelled
in his studies and eventually came to be known as one of the best students.
In 1661, at the age of 18, Isaac started attending Trinity College in Cambridge. He graduated in

American Frontier Thesis Statement
Noah Serna
1)Turner s Frontier Thesis is an argument that was formed by the American frontier however it was
developed in Chicago in 1893 by Frederick Jackson Turner, an American Historian. In the thesis, the
American frontier established liberty by freeing Americans from the European mindset and
customs. Turner s Frontier thesis quickly became popular amongst scholars and intellectuals. It
emphasized the importance on how the frontier shaped America and its characteristics, in the
abundance of free land, individualism, mobility, and materialism.
2)Captains of Industry/Robber Barons Captions of Industry were business leaders that were
able to transform America s economy in a positive way by using their business skills. People
glorified them for their skills and for their charities. J.P. Morgan, Henry Ford, Andrew W.
Mellon, and John D. Rockefeller were all Captions of Industry. The Robber Barons were
businessmen who were involved in immortal and ruthless business practices. They would gain
large amounts of profits by paying their employee s very low wages. They drove out their
opponents by selling their products at a cheaper price. They eventually took control of the market
and rose the prices extremely high. John Jacob Astor, Andrew Carnegie, William A. Clark, Jay

Ferguson was a U.S. Supreme Court Case that was held on May 18, 1896. It supported the rights of
states to pass laws that allowed for racial segregation in public and private organizations, such as

southern states to pass Jim Crows laws, which discriminated many American Africans as well as
minorities. After the Plessy v. Ferguson case ended, the Separate but equal law remained in place

Lily Interview Questions
Interviewer: How did you know Lily s mother?
August: I was a housekeeper for Deborah. I used to take care of her everyday. I ve heard about
T. Ray from her mother, but I have never seen him in person. Deborah told me all about him.
Then when Lily told me that she killed her mother, I couldn t imagine dealing with that for the rest
of her life. I told her that I love her and everyone loves her, just as much as her mother loved her.
Her mother loved everyone. I gave Deborah a picture of black Mary a little bit before she died,
and that is how Lily found us. She looked through her photo album. That is where Deborah kept all
of her things.
Interviewer: How did you decide that you wanted Lily to stay at your house and let you help out
with the bees in the first place? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lily looked like Deborah when she was younger and right away I had knew why she had came.
She had came because she wanted to know about her mother, and I knew that I had to tell her at
some point about what happened. So I just let her stay. She needed to know the truth, and that is
what I was going to tell her, but I didn t want to talk about her mother too soon. That would get a
better risk of her running away like what she did with T. Ray.
Interviewer: What do you think Lily learned by staying with you and your sisters?
August: I believe that Lily learned that sometimes you have to forgive things in life to get past
hard times. She couldn t forgive herself enough for killing her mother, and that is why she ran
away. She needed to know the truth. Once she forgave herself, her whole life had changed.
Interviewer: How did you feel about the death of May? How did you feel about her actions and
emotions that lead to her death?

REGRESSION
In statistics, regression analysis is a statistical process for estimating the relationships among
variables. It includes many techniques for modeling and analyzing several variables, when the
focus is on the relationship between a dependent variable and one or more independent variables.
More specifically, regression analysis helps one understand how the typical value of the dependent
variable (or criterion variable ) changes when any one of the independent variables is varied, while
the other independent variables are held fixed.
SIMPLE LINEAR REGRESSION
In simple linear regression, we predict scores on one variable from the scores on a second variable.
The variable we are predicting is called the criterion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The coefficient of determination (denoted by R2) is a key output of regression analysis. It is
interpreted as the proportion of the variance in the dependent variable that is predictable from the
independent variable. Range from 0 to 1.
For example, if r = 0.922, then r 2 = 0.850, which means that 85% of the total variation in y can be
explained by the linear relationship between x and y (as described by the regression equation). The
other 15% of the total variation in y remains unexplained.
Overall Model Fit
Dependent variable: Science Score
Parameter Estimates
math The coefficient for math is .389. So for every unit increase in math, a 0.39 unit increase in
science is predicted, holding all other variables constant. female For every unit increase in
female, we expect a 2.010 unit decrease in the science score, holding all other variables constant.
Because femaleis coded 0/1 (0=male, 1=female), the interpretation is easy: for females, the
predicted science score would be 2 points lower than for males. socst The coefficient for socst is
.050. So for every unit increase in socst, we expect an approximately .05 point increase in the
science score, holding all other variables constant. read The coefficient for read is .335. So for
every unit increase in read, we expect a .34 point increase in the science score.

How To Write An Essay On The Hobbit
The Hobbit by John Ronald Reul Tolkien
When J.R.R tolkien set his himself down to write the hobbit. He was attempting to create a
fantasy that addressed the fundamental needs as he saw them of humanity. He wrote about these
needs and his purpose in an essay called J.R.R. Tolkien, On Fairy Stories However before I
attempt to indulge into Tolkien s work and the underlying factors that influenced him. We must
understand that within in his essay addressing fairy tales Tolkien defines fairy stories as A tale
about fairies, or generally a fairy legend; with developed senses, I will not go into depth on this
definition as i feel it is not very important in the grand scheme of things, however i do feel it is
important to understand what i will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The world of fairy takes just as much time and effort to get over the loss of a loved one as our
world. The world of fairy takes the the form more of an allegory than a cure. Tolkien turned his
grief into a magical world full of monsters and obstacles to overcome to distract himself from the
real challenges he faced. He wasn t aware he was doing this and i think he held that ignorance to
his grave. For a better look at it we must look through the perspective of Sigmund Freud and his
philosophical concepts. I m going to go into depth on two of his concepts as they are very fitting
with Tolkien s work and background. However there is the possibility that more than these two
possibly even all of Freud s concepts can be applied to Tolkien. The first concept being that of The
unconscious mind , in which Freud believes our mind has three parts. The first level is
consciousness which consists of thoughts that are the currently occupying our mind. This is a
very basic concept it s essentially saying what you are currently thinking or in this case reading
is your conscious mind at work. The second level is the preconscious level, another simple
concept as it is simply your memory. What you did this morning, what you had for breakfast these
are all examples of the preconscious mind. The third level and the one we will be addressing is
that of the

Irresoubleness Of Diamonds Monica Ferrell Summary
Monica Ferrell a renowned poet and novelist has written works such as, Of the Irresoubleness of
Diamonds, Harmless as Recalled by a Fairy Tale, Gerburt des Monica kinds and Anatomy which
employ grammatical issues throughout them. She uses attributive adjectives, non finite verb
strings, active voice and the known new contract to given an in depth analysis of her poems which
she uses pathos to convey her emotions. By incorporating these grammatical issues into her work,
Ferrell intends to develop a clear and sharp image to ignite the imagination of her readers. In this

Non finite verb strings do not have tense, they can create an independent clause (pg.39). Their
forms do not indicate person, number or tense. Non finite verbs can be found in forms such as
participles, infinitives and gerunds. Participles are Gerunds are ing verb forms which can fill
nominal slots and they are not considered to be nouns (pg.94). In one example of her poem,
Harmless, as Recalled by a Fairy Tale, she describes After our rendezvous this the last word he
said, Waving to me as the train pulled away from the station (1 2), the word waving is a non
finite verb, in fact it is also a gerund. One of the ways to distinguish it as a gerund is because
there is an ing attached to the end of the word. In another example she asserts, Made my people
short of breath, I heard them wheezing (13), the non finite verb in this sentence is the word
wheezing. The word wheezing is a present participle which you can tell by the ing attached at
the end of the word. In addition, to this example is, Of his departed face like a treasure map, over
his words hanging in the air like the scrolls of Alexandria, had I not been consensual, like a free
agent, (16 17), the non finite verbs present here in this sentence are departed and hanging. The
word departed is a non finite verb since it is a past participle because there is an ed added at the
end and this word can also be used as an

Ethics, Unnatural Laws, By Arthur A. Leff
Part One: Summary In the article Unspeakable Ethics, Unnatural Laws, Arthur A. Leff took an
agnostic approach when determining what morality should be comprised of. He suggested that
humans struggle with desiring to follow a predetermined and unchallengeable set of moral rules,
while at the same time wanting the autonomy to create those rules.
If ethical rules are preordained, they would need to come from a supernatural being that was
unruled, unjudged, and beyond question: God. If God exists, we are created to fit into His system
and should therefore abide by His rules. God dictates the laws of the world through what Leff
refers to as performative utterances . These utterances are essentially His will made into reality via
His command. Performative utterances are the act of God creating the rules that govern the world.
He is the only being who has the capacity to do this without facing the inevitable says who
mentality.
This sort of attitude ensues when beings of equal rank differ in their opinions of what is right
and what is wrong, with no overarching authority. It is this problem in particular that leads
philosophers to despair; if there is no God, there is no steady ethical or legal system that can be
put into place. There is nothing more correct or more flawed than anything else. There will never
be progress, as you cannot progress from something you cannot deem to be less suitable. If there is
no such higher being, we are all that is left to decide for

To A Daughter Leaving Home Poem
he poem To a Daughter Leaving Home by Linda Pastan describes the very memory of a mother
teaching her younger daughter to ride a bicycle. The title of the poem says that the said daughter
the author is speaking of is older now, but the poem concentrates on the past. Pastan s figure of
speech with the use of metaphors, imagery, enjambment show how the bicycle is a part of life s
journey and the diction helps demonstrate the young daughter s maturation from a child to an
adult. Pastan uses several figures of speech to convey what she is presenting. For example,
enjambment is used, where one line runs into another. Such words are, pumping (18), screaming

The poem consists of one long sentence, which is made up primarily of one long sentence. This
represents the different phases of the lesson, which leads into the growing up procedure. At the
beginning of the poem, the daughter is hence scared to ride the bike and even wobbled (5); she
could not maintain her balance. However, she gained her balance and the mother was in
surprise when you [she] pulled ahead down the curved path of the park (8 10). The mother kept
waiting for the thud of your [her] crash (11 13). Therefore, the author was waiting for her child
to crash, but like in life she gained her balance on the bicycle. As the poem progresses, she grows
up and becomes smaller and more breakable, which shows that she is grown up now and ready to
venture off into the world. The reaction of the mother is the reaction of any mother, she is worried
her daughter might crash and fail, but like all mothers they must let their daughters go. At the end
of the poem, the daughter screams with laughter and keeps pumping and pumping into the distance.

The Most Dangerous Game, Liberty, And Harrison Bergeron
In the stories, The Most Dangerous Game , Liberty , and Harrison Bergeron all compare among
their similarities. Each story uses the setting and their conflicts to show the theme and the
characteristics of each character. In these stories, they all have different conflicts and settings, but
they use the conflicts and settings to relate to each other in their characters and the themes. There
are similarities among the stories The Most Dangerous Game, Liberty , and Harrison Bergeronin the
themes for each story. For example, in Harrison Bergeron the theme is to stand up for what you
know and what you believe is right. Harrison in the story escaped from prison, tore his handicaps

tasks, but he did it to show people what life was supposed to be like, and make an example of it.
Even as I stand here crippled, hobbled, sickened, I am still greater than any manwho ever lived. The
themes of Liberty and The Most Dangerous Game are very similar, both stories themes are to

defined during the study as a high risk patient would be helpful to know that it was general

Serbia s Decision to Fight in 1914 and the Role in Retribution War
Serbia joined World War I that started in July 1914 when Austria Hungary attacked the kingdom
of Serbia just at the onset of the world war one. The Serbia army was severely destroyed losing
over three hundred soldiers. At the time the war ended, Serbia lost over one million citizens both
civilians and the soldiers (Fromkin 12).
On 28 July 1914, just a few weeks after the killing of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife by a
Serbian citizen in Sarajevo, Austria Hungary announced war with Serbia, effectively causing the

governmental leadership and aggressive military of Germany. Austria Hungary went ahead to

is mostly stored in white adipose tissue (WAT). Brown adipose tissue (BAT) is additional fat

large amounts of biochemical energy in form of heat for protection from the cold. Upon cold

done with the sympathetic nervous system(160). 160
The thermogenic response in brown adipocytes is mediated by matchlessly augmented
mitochondria expressing thermogenin (also called uncoupling protein 1 (UCP1) in the inner
membrane.UCP1 lets brown adipocytes to dissipate the electrochemical gradient that is normally
used to drive ATP synthesis. But, the thermogenic response cannot only be explained by UCP1, as
the expression of numerous genes complicated in energy metabolism is increased in experimental
animals to a cold environment. Lately the significance of NPRA and NPRB in brown adipose
tissue is discovered (160). 160 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Extrapolation Lab Report
section{Measurement of oxygen consumption} The methods to measure oxygen consumption
either directly or by extrapolation can be classified into invasive and non invasive methods.
subsection{Invasive methods of measurement of oxygen consumption}
1. Bedside measure:
I will discuss Lactate, $PCO_{2}$ difference, and mixed venous oxygen saturation.
A. textit{Lactate}:
Normal arterial serum lactate ranges between 0 and 2 mmol/L. The production of lactate occurs
when tissues have insufficient supply of oxygen. The glycolysis for energy production is not
optimal in these low perfusion / low oxygen states. The body is forced to produce ATP (albeit
inefficiently) by anaerobic pathways. The end product of this anaerobic reaction is Lactate. Hence,
an increase in lactate can be a marker of low perfusion or low oxygen states.
B. textit{Mixed venous oxygen saturation}:
The true mixed venous oxygen saturation is measured from a pulmonary artery catheter placed in
the main pulmonary arterial trunk. Blood returning to the right side of the heart contains the
residual oxygen after utilisation by the tissues. This makes the $MxVenO_{2}$ an indirect measure
of whole body tissue oxygen consumption. Acute ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In paediatric intensive care non invasive techniques are preferred for measurement of oxygen

department.cite{Carlier:2006hg} Scientists are also able to measure oxygen consumption in the
brain in animal models by using fluorescence microscopy.cite{Dmitriev:2012kb} The only

Current Trends On The Construction Industry
Current Trends in the Construction Industry
Beginning a new year of the construction industry with a report of 6% growth (achieved
approximately $712 billion) in the financial profit of construction from Dodge Data Analytics 2016
Construction Outlook, many analysts and experts predict that potential values for the construction
business will be progressively increased with extensions of modern technologies and state of the art
concepts for improving construction performance, especially in project cost and schedule
achievements (Peiffer, 2016). Although it is noticeable that diverse tendencies, including
prefabrication or offsite constructions, green buildings, remodeling, etc., are taking higher place in
the next decades, true collaborations, sophisticated building modeling tools, and practical value
boosted procedures are always bottom lines for a blossoming construction project. It is
unquestionable that construction project costs and schedule are spectacularly difficult to predict by
reason of complexity of building procedures and presence of thousands of dependent variables
throughout a project. As a result, duties and responsibilities of forecasting and envisioning project
cost and schedule performance are considered as momentous challenges and complicated issues for
all construction experts and professionals (Ai et al., 2015). Growing from these concerns, a
suggestion of synergizing components that particular affect the cost and schedule efficiency is
becoming an

The Life Of Emily Dickinson Essay
The Life of Emily Dickinson
Although she lived a seemingly secluded life, Emily Dickinson s many encounters with death
influenced many of her poems and letters. Perhaps one of the most ground breaking and
inventive poets in American history, Dickinson has become as well known for her bizarre and
eccentric life as for her incredible poems and letters. Numbering over 1,700, her poems highlight
the many moments in a 19th century New Englander woman s life, including the deaths of some
of her most beloved friends and family, most of which occurred in a short period of time (Benfey 6
25).
Several biographers of Dickinson point out her methods of exploring several topics in ... Show more

Explored thoroughly in her works, death seems to be a dominating theme through out Dickinson s
life. Dickinson, although secluded and isolated had a few encounters with love, two perhaps
serious affairs were documented in her letters and poems. But, since Emily s life was so self kept
and private the exact identity of these people remains unsure. What is known, is during the
Civil War , worried for her friends and families lives, death increased in frequency to be a dominant
theme in her writings. After 1878, the year of her influential father s death, (a treasurer of Amherst
college, and a member of the
Congress), this theme increased with each passing of friend or family, peeking perhaps with the
death of the two men she loved (Waugh 100).
But, as documented by several critics, Dickinson viewed death, as she did most ideas, in
circumference. She was careful to high light and explore all the paradoxes and emotional
extremes involved with death. One poem expresses her depression after discovering her two loves
had passed away. She wrote, I never lost as much as twice, and that was in the sod; Twice I have
stood a beggar, Before the door of God, (Porter 170).
Some critics believe it was the suggestion of death which spawned
Dickinson s greatest output of Poetry in 1862. After hearing from Charles

Police Ethical Issues
There are a plethora of ethical issues with the first story but few for the second story. Starting with
the first story, the first ethical issue I found was the opposition many of the officers had towards
the idea of community policing. As a police officer you take an oath to serve and protect citizens
and serving takes on many forms not just crime fighting. Other ethical issues that I witness was
prostitution, the home owners throw eggs at the john s car, littering and leaving trash on the ground
of the home owners, the policeofficers lack of response and only reacting once they were caught
slacking on the job. To me the biggest issue was the neglect police officershowed towards the
community trying to better its self. While the department stated they had more pressing matter to

The prostitutes and john s where in Stage 2, they only cared about making money or receiving
pleasure. Not only did they disregard the home owner to leave the area but they left their garage
all over the streets. I believe the police officers where in Stage 1of the Kohlberg s Stage of
development. While they showed interest in wanting to preserve law in order in the community,
they felt that they had better things to do. They knew the consequences of not doing their job yet
apparently they did nothing to correct the matter. With the second story the only ethical issue I
found was the veteran cop reason why the store owner paid for their meal. He made it seem like
the store owner had a debt to pay. Besides that I didn t find any other ethical

The Differences Between Football And Nfl Football
There are over 200 million unique viewers that watch football every year. College and NFL
football is one of the major things that can seise Americans from thinking about all of the awful
things in the world and unite people together. Certain things come with each league that are
different and similar to each other. There are even some areas of both leagues that people most
likely did not even know about either of them. These two notorious footballleagues have many
similarities and differences in the way that they are constructed and played.
The different rules of each league have an impact on how the game flows and how it is played.
Each rule has many factors that can manipulate the outcome of the call on the football field during
a game. In this case either league has their own idea of what a catch has to consists of to be
considered one. For college football, the player who catches the ball only has to have one foot in
bounds and retain a firm grasp on the ball. On the other hand, NFL has a different set of rules for
what a catch has to consist of. In the NFL just like college the player has to maintain possession
of the ball. But, the main difference between the two rules according to Cyd Zeigler (2015), is that
the player touches the ground inbounds with both feet (para. 9). This can cause a higher level of
difficulty towards the players to perform a catch. There are other rules between the two leagues that
are differently constructed. Both leagues have different rule

The Evolution of Reggae Music
Reggae has sustained the test of time and remains one of the world s last genuine folk music. The

With the war era of the 60 s approaching, reggae finally took form with a mellow beat, conscious

How Can Hamlet Be Banned
HAMLET SYNOPSIS
It is a dark winter night and a ghost is wandering the grounds of the Danish castle, Elsinore. There
are various sightings of this ghost, all of which confirm it to be the ghost of the King, who recently
died. The throne was taken by his brother Claudius, who also married Queen Gertrude. Prince
Hamlet, King Hamlet s son, is brought to the castle. There, it is confirmed that the ghost is of King
Hamlet, and the ghost tells Prince Hamlet that he was murdered by none other than Claudius. King
Hamlet wants the Prince to avenge his death.
After this, Prince Hamlet becomes obsessed with seeking revenge upon Claudius. However, as he
is thoughtful and not violent, he waits, and descends into a depressive, obsessed madness. The
King and Queen are concerned for Hamlet s behaviour and hire his two friends Rosencrantz and
Guildenstern to watch him and look for signs of madness. The Lord Chamberlain, Polonius,
suggest that Hamlet may be deeply in love with his daughter Ophelia, however Hamlet shows no
signs of being in love and instead, claims that he wishes marriage to be banned and that Ophelia
should be sent to a nunnery. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Multi-Alternative Decision Making
Introduction Some economists assume that people make a choice according to the principle of
value maximisation and the ordering of the options is independent of the context. However, there
are anomalies of decision making suggesting that the context matters. The three basic anomalies are
the similarity effect (Tversky, 1972), the attraction effect (Huber, Payne and Puto, 1982) and the
compromise effect (Simonson, 1989). Theorists have tried explaining these effects by various
approaches. For example, the multi alternative decision field theory (Roe, Busemeyer and
Townsend, 2001) can explain all the three effects. In addition, Tversky (1972) applied the
elimination by aspects model to illustrate the similarity effect and Tversky and Simonson (1993)
introduced a componential context model to explain the attraction and compromise effects. The
next section reviews the three anomalies of multi alternative decision making. Then we illustrate
how the three theories mentioned above explain the anomalies. After that, the decision field theory
is compared with the other two models respectively. Three context effects in decision making In
real life, we may make choices among various options with a large number of attributes. For
simplicity, we use five options with only two attributes to demonstrate the three anomalies as
Figure 1 shows. Figure 1 Figure 1 An example of the problem of choosing among options according

The Effect Of Solar Energy On Silicon Solar Cell Technology
Solar energy is widely believed to be the most promising renewable energy source to fulfill the
ever increasing energy demand from human society now and into the future. Dye sensitized solar
cells (DSSCs) have been explored as a potentially low cost alternative to silicon solar cell
technology due to their lower fabrication costs compared to crystalline semiconductor
photovoltaics. However, the optimized efficiency for DSSCs has not been achieved yet, and the
chemical stability between dye and semiconductor has also not been addressed completely. In this
research, we applied the following four main strategies to prepare photoanodes used in DSSCs with
the aim of improving stability and efficiency: 1) utilizing surface chemistry to modify the porous
semiconductor films, 2) linking covalently [Di tetrabutylammoniumcis bis (isothiocyanato) bis (2, 2
bipyridyl 4, 4 dicarboxy lato) ruthenium (II), N719] dye on the surface of semiconductor films, and
study the charge injection dynamics by ultrafast transient absorption spectroscopy, 3) doping the
semiconductor films with micro sized neodymium oxide (Nd2O3) particles, and (4) incorporating
metal nanoparticles through molecular linkers to the semiconductor films. The objectives of this
work are to address the limitations of chemical stability existing between TiO2/N719 dye systems,
to explore the charge dynamics in TiO2/N719 system for a better understanding of the fundamental
mechanisms of DSSCs, and to prepare high efficiency

Upon watching the YouTube video, Park Avenue: money, power and the American dream Why

and the video I was watching. What the video shows is a group of ultra rich white men that use
their money and politics to keep themselves rich and to keep the rest of us down. They also use
their power to advance their political agendas. How did these men get and maintain their money?
Some of the men shown in the video come from a long history of money, while some of them made

Now, this was not a fair game of monopoly, but a game where there was an ultra rich player, a
regular player, and then a poor player. The ultra rich player acted as if they were owed money,
while making fun of the poor player quite a bit. This can be seen in our society post civil war.
You have white men with all the money, property, and all of the political power keeping the
freshly freed slaves in a state of poverty. Even if they didn t actively go after the poor or racial
minorities, they still benefited from the system that stacked the cards heavily in their favor. We
see in the video that a lot of the rich white men do not want their money to go towards the takers
or have nots of society. They don t want the money that they have access to partially because of
white privilege to help out those who never even had a shot at succeeding. On the other hand,
what we do see is the ultra rich white men expecting the poor and downtrodden, including the large
minority population just 10 minutes from their swanky homes in New York City, to pull
themselves up by their own bootstraps. How can those who are born in abject poverty, with no
access to things that white privilege brings, and a very poor education system be expected to
succeed? Another part of the video tries to shed some light on the notorious Koch brothers and their
influence in modern day politics. We see that the brothers use their money and

Era Of Good Feelings Dbq Analysis
There had been a war between Britain and America, it was known as the War of 1812. This war
was the turning point of America because it had soon led the nation to an Era of Good Feelings.
The Era of Good Feelings is an ironic name because during this time period (1815 1825), it
promoted both sectionalism and nationalism. Although some felt strongly for one way, there were
some people who were in the middle and not exactly which sure they agreed with most.Nationalism

The agriculturists bear the whole brunt of the war and taxation, and remain poor, while the others

was a split because the manufacturers in the North were enjoying their life, while those in the
South were struggling because they were the ones helping with the damage that was made from the
war. Another way the nation was split up was through their states and how the population had
varied in the states. Document E shows that although the state had ranges of population, there
were are states that obviously have more than others, meaning the North has way more than the
South. Lastly, in Document I the states had been split in a way they view politics. In 1820, it s

Write An Essay On The Persians Battle
The Battle The Persians staged a preemptive defensive posture in the plains of Gaugamela. The
recently manicured landscape was ideal for the implementation of the scythed chariots. They
were placed up front with a tiny group of fighters. There were a left and right wing of mixed
fighters from throughout the land. The front forces led the attack followed shortly by an element
that expanded to attack the left flank of the Macedonians. Darius was at the center, engulfed by
his finest fighters, a Persian King tradition. On the right were Greek mercenaries and the Persian
Horse Guards with the famous Immortals at the right and center. The Macedonians were divided
into two groups, Alexander directly commanding the right, and Parmenion on the left. Alexander
fought with his chosen elite element and light cavalry. Parmenion s orders were to maneuver in
the left quadrant, while his commanding officer delivered the calculated blow from the right.
From there it moved the Phalanx, which was placed on a double line. The ratio increased from
that of Issus at 2:1 to 5:1, and eclipsing the Phalanx front by over a mile. The rear formation of
mercenaries is to attack any opposition that followed. Alexander s reassessed plan consisted of

streams and rivers. Cover crops also reduces weeds which eliminates the need for herbicides.
The use of legumes as a cover crop promotes biological nitrogen fixation. Therefore, the farmer or

many environmental and financial benefits from the program. The benefits of EQIP can also be
seen in other outside independent businesses and companies. These businesses and companies
rely on EQIP participants to use their supplies and services. A dirt moving company supplies dirt
for EQIP participants involved in a land leveling practice. A seed and fertilizer company supplies
seeds and fertilizers for EQIP participants involved in conservation cover, cover crops, and forage
and biomass planting. The incomes these businesses and companies receive helps pay for the daily
financial needs.

program and its participants on a daily basis. I hear the positive feedback from the participants. In
my year of work experience I have had the opportunity to work with these participants from
beginning to end. The comparison of a pre EQIPed operation to a post EQIPed operation is

Temperance Reform In The 19th Century
In the 19th century people did not like what the American society was turning into, so to control
behaviors, and shape cultures the way they wanted. They created reforms to create a better
environment. Reforms were made for temperance, abolitionist, antiprostitution, and other things
that people thought they needed to change in the United States. They would do this by using
popular things like songs, plays, novels, and narratives. Reformers wanted their information to
develop to a large audience, so they could participate in their reforms. Although, not all the reforms
were effective one that was very successful was the temperance reform. The 19th centurywas when
people would drink large amounts of alcohol, especially men, which is why the temperance
reform was put in place. On average, Americans drank about seven gallons of hard alcohol,
including whiskey and other distilled spirits. These people did not think that drinking was
harmful, and they said that alcohol was cleaner than water. Drinking was becoming out of
control. For example, Ten Nights in a Bar Room is about how Mary s father that goes to the bar

In Maryland, public assistance programs as well as housing programs are able to deny assistance
to individuals with incarceration histories or convictions on their records. The Corporation for
Supportive Housing estimates that 10 to 12 percent of former inmates are homeless. Other studies
put the count at between 15 and 27 percent (Law). With such a large percentage of inmates being

The Striped Pajamas By John Boyne
Most people view the Holocaust as one of the worst things that has ever happened in human
history. It s very difficult to argue this belief. Not only were millions of people killed in battle,
but millions were killed outside of battle. After his murder of over six million Jews, Adolf Hitler
became regarded as one of the most hated and evil people in the world, and still is today.
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is a novel based on this time period. Written in 2006 by an Irish
author named John Boyne, it is about a boy named Bruno who is nine years old growing up in
Germany during the second World War. Even though it is written by an Irish author and not a
German one, it is well known for depicting just how bad the Nazi concentration camps ... Show

Starbucks And Its Impact On Starbucks
A total weighted score at 2.67 for Starbucks points to an average but good internal standing in the
Internal Factor Evaluation. The first strength of Starbucks is its diverse and inclusive workforce

ability to have free Wi Fi.
Starbucks fourth strength is their employee benefits which received a .08 weight. The CEO,
Howard Schultz implemented two programs that offered their employees the following benefits.
Starbucks provided comprehensive health coverage for eligible full and part time workers.
Starbucks also provided health care benefits for same sex and domestic partner benefits (Our
Culture of Inclusion). Secondly, Starbucks offered its employees equity in the company in the form
of stock, called Bean Stock (Howard Schultz). Today, many companies offer similar benefits to
what Starbucks has, however it is noted that Starbucks was one of the first to have such benefits in
the industry. This strength received a rating of 3 indicating a minor strength.
The fifth strength of Starbucks is its Debt to assets ratio which was the lowest when compared
to its two main competitors McDonalds and Dunkin Donuts. This strength received a weight of
0.07. The Debt to Total Assets ratio measures the percentage of total funds that are provided by
creditors (David David, 2015, p. 108). Starbucks has the lowest percentage at 18%. McDonalds

Summary Of The More Factor By Lawrence Shames
Consumption and the Hunger for More
In the essay The More Factor , Lawrence Shames talks about the extent of America s obsession
with the concept of expansion and having more. People must grow in order to have more and at
first, this was achieved through taking up unexplored lands in the west and developing them. After
all the land had been taken and developed, people turned to the economy and thus there was the
theory of consumerism. John Verdant s the Ables versus the Binges text is a comparison of the two
families; the Ables are cautious in their spending whereas the Binges are impulse buyers. The
Binges end up sinking deeper into debt while the Ables end up saving more and lead a good life by

They give in to the allure of advertisers without inquiring about other comparable products. They
seem to achieve temporary happiness by constantly purchasing food, cars, trips which in turn leads
them to destroy themselves financially and mentally. Their finances are in shambles with the bills
adding up, which stresses the parents out and effects the children as well (Verdant 155). They don t
concern themselves with the amount of interest building up on their purchases on the credit cards.
They are too blinded by their desires.
The Binges feel that is necessary to gloat to their acquaintances about their purchases. This
unfortunately, has impacted relations with those that they associate themselves with (Verdant
156). Verdant states, Their self image is dependent on what they wear, drive, and where they
spend their money (156). They seem to have no regard to money as it is easy for them to make
impulse purchases and not give it a second thought. Their house is a cluttered showcase for new
and old items which they have accumulated over the years. They prefer to buy new items rather
than get the broken ones

ARCHITECTURE Symbolism is the use of symbols or signs to represent symbolic meanings,
ideas or qualities. It s done by investing signs symbols and their possible meanings. In short,
symbolism is the system of symbols and representation. In early Indian architecture, symbols were
widely used to invoke different meanings. Symbols had mythical as well as philosophical

artistic aesthetic purpose. Decoding the different meanings of a single symbol itself is problematic.

Puberty refers to the set of physical changes that signal the onset of reproductive maturation. According to the book, the onset of puberty is complex, involving several factors, such as individuals and family genetics and family dynamic. Before the 1900 s, the average age of menarche for girls in the United States was over 14. In today s society 80% of all American girls reach menarche between the ages 11 and 13.75, with a mean of 12.5 years. The comparison age of menarche worldwide is 13.5 years, ranging from 12.5 to 14.5 years, with even later menarche found among malnourished girls in undeveloped countries. Girls are known for reaching their menarche at about the same time as their biological mothers, suggesting a genetic influence. The racial/ethnic are found fairly consistently. Ray from her mother, but I have never seen him in person. Deborah told me all about him. Then when Lily told me that she killed her mother, I couldn t imagine dealing with that for the rest of her life. I told her that I love her and everyone loves her, just as much as her mother loved her. Her mother loved everyone. I gave Deborah a picture of black Mary a little bit before she died, and that is how Lily found us. She looked through her photo album. That is where Deborah kept all of her things. • 8. Customer Loyalty REGRESSION In statistics, regression analysis is a statistical process for estimating the relationships among variables. It includes many techniques for modeling and analyzing several variables, when the focus is on the relationship between a dependent variable and one or more independent variables. More specifically, regression analysis helps one understand how the typical value of the dependent variable (or criterion variable ) changes when any one of the independent variables is varied, while the other independent variables are held fixed. SIMPLE LINEAR REGRESSION In simple linear regression, we predict scores on one variable from the scores on a second variable. The variable we are predicting is called the criterion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The coefficient of determination (denoted by R2) is a key output of regression analysis. It is interpreted as the proportion of the variance in the dependent variable that is predictable from the independent variable. Range from 0 to 1. For example, if r = 0.922, then r 2 = 0.850, which means that 85% of the total variation in y can be explained by the linear relationship between x and y (as described by the regression equation). The other 15% of the total variation in y remains unexplained. Overall Model Fit Dependent variable: Science Score Parameter Estimates math The coefficient for math is .389. So for every unit increase in math, a 0.39 unit increase in science is predicted, holding all other variables constant. female For every unit increase in female, we expect a 2.010 unit decrease in the science score, holding all other variables constant. Because femaleis coded 0/1 (0=male, 1=female), the interpretation is easy: for females, the predicted science score would be 2 points lower than for males. socst The coefficient for socst is .050. Tolkien turned his grief into a magical world full of monsters and obstacles to overcome to distract himself from the real challenges he faced. He wasn t aware he was doing this and i think he held that ignorance to his grave. For a better look at it we must look through the perspective of Sigmund Freud and his philosophical concepts. I m going to go into depth on two of his concepts as they are very fitting with Tolkien s work and background. However there is the possibility that more than these two possibly even all of Freud s concepts can be applied to Tolkien. The first concept being that of The unconscious mind , in which Freud believes our mind has three parts. The first level is consciousness which consists of thoughts that are the currently occupying our mind. This is a very basic concept it s essentially saying what you are currently thinking or in this case reading is your conscious mind at work. • 12. Ethics, Unnatural Laws, By Arthur A. Leff Part One: Summary In the article Unspeakable Ethics, Unnatural Laws, Arthur A. Leff took an agnostic approach when determining what morality should be comprised of. He suggested that humans struggle with desiring to follow a predetermined and unchallengeable set of moral rules, while at the same time wanting the autonomy to create those rules. If ethical rules are preordained, they would need to come from a supernatural being that was unruled, unjudged, and beyond question: God. If God exists, we are created to fit into His system and should therefore abide by His rules. God dictates the laws of the world through what Leff refers to as performative utterances . These utterances are essentially His will made into reality via His command. Performative utterances are the act of God creating the rules that govern the world. He is the only being who has the capacity to do this without facing the inevitable says who mentality. This sort of attitude ensues when beings of equal rank differ in their opinions of what is right and what is wrong, with no overarching authority. It is this problem in particular that leads philosophers to despair; if there is no God, there is no steady ethical or legal system that can be put into place. There is nothing more correct or more flawed than anything else. There will never be progress, as you cannot progress from something you cannot deem to be less suitable. Brown adipose tissue (BAT) is additional fat storage, which in contrast to white adipose tissue is capable to produce heat and preserve body temperature. Brown adipocytes are located in the brown adipose tissueand smaller populations were recognized within white adipose tissue. Brown adipose tissue developed in mammals to dissipate large amounts of biochemical energy in form of heat for protection from the cold. Upon cold exposure, brown adipose tissue is activated by central nervous system (CNS) mechanisms over and done with the sympathetic nervous system(160). 160 The thermogenic response in brown adipocytes is mediated by matchlessly augmented mitochondria expressing thermogenin (also called uncoupling protein 1 (UCP1) in the inner membrane.UCP1 lets brown adipocytes to dissipate the electrochemical gradient that is normally used to drive ATP synthesis. Extrapolation Lab Report section{Measurement of oxygen consumption} The methods to measure oxygen consumption either directly or by extrapolation can be classified into invasive and non invasive methods. subsection{Invasive methods of measurement of oxygen consumption} 1. Bedside measure: I will discuss Lactate, $PCO_{2}$ difference, and mixed venous oxygen saturation. A. textit{Lactate}: Normal arterial serum lactate ranges between 0 and 2 mmol/L. The production of lactate occurs when tissues have insufficient supply of oxygen. The glycolysis for energy production is not optimal in these low perfusion / low oxygen states. The body is forced to produce ATP (albeit inefficiently) by anaerobic pathways. The end product of this anaerobic reaction is Lactate. Hence, an increase in lactate can be a marker of low perfusion or low oxygen states. B. textit{Mixed venous oxygen saturation}: The true mixed venous oxygen saturation is measured from a pulmonary artery catheter placed in the main pulmonary arterial trunk. Blood returning to the right side of the heart contains the residual oxygen after utilisation by the tissues. This makes the $MxVenO_{2}$ an indirect measure of whole body tissue oxygen consumption. What is known, is during the Civil War , worried for her friends and families lives, death increased in frequency to be a dominant theme in her writings. After 1878, the year of her influential father s death, (a treasurer of Amherst college, and a member of the Congress), this theme increased with each passing of friend or family, peeking perhaps with the death of the two men she loved (Waugh 100). But, as documented by several critics, Dickinson viewed death, as she did most ideas, in circumference. She was careful to high light and explore all the paradoxes and emotional extremes involved with death. One poem expresses her depression after discovering her two loves had passed away. These two notorious footballleagues have many similarities and differences in the way that they are constructed and played. Each rule has many factors that can manipulate the outcome of the call on the football field during a game. For college football, the player who catches the ball only has to have one foot in bounds and retain a firm grasp on the ball. On the other hand, NFL has a different set of rules for what a catch has to consist of. In the NFL just like college the player has to maintain possession of the ball. But, the main difference between the two rules according to Cyd Zeigler (2015), is that the player touches the ground inbounds with both feet (para. 9). • 28. Multi-Alternative Decision Making Introduction Some economists assume that people make a choice according to the principle of value maximisation and the ordering of the options is independent of the context. However, there are anomalies of decision making suggesting that the context matters. The three basic anomalies are the similarity effect (Tversky, 1972), the attraction effect (Huber, Payne and Puto, 1982) and the compromise effect (Simonson, 1989). Theorists have tried explaining these effects by various approaches. For example, the multi alternative decision field theory (Roe, Busemeyer and Townsend, 2001) can explain all the three effects. In addition, Tversky (1972) applied the elimination by aspects model to illustrate the similarity effect and Tversky and Simonson (1993) introduced a componential context model to explain the attraction and compromise effects. The next section reviews the three anomalies of multi alternative decision making. Then we illustrate how the three theories mentioned above explain the anomalies. After that, the decision field theory is compared with the other two models respectively. Three context effects in decision making In real life, we may make choices among various options with a large number of attributes. For simplicity, we use five options with only two attributes to demonstrate the three anomalies as Figure 1 shows. • 29. The Effect Of Solar Energy On Silicon Solar Cell Technology Solar energy is widely believed to be the most promising renewable energy source to fulfill the ever increasing energy demand from human society now and into the future. Dye sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have been explored as a potentially low cost alternative to silicon solar cell technology due to their lower fabrication costs compared to crystalline semiconductor photovoltaics. However, the optimized efficiency for DSSCs has not been achieved yet, and the chemical stability between dye and semiconductor has also not been addressed completely. In this research, we applied the following four main strategies to prepare photoanodes used in DSSCs with the aim of improving stability and efficiency: 1) utilizing surface chemistry to modify the porous semiconductor films, 2) linking covalently [Di tetrabutylammoniumcis bis (isothiocyanato) bis (2, 2 bipyridyl 4, 4 dicarboxy lato) ruthenium (II), N719] dye on the surface of semiconductor films, and study the charge injection dynamics by ultrafast transient absorption spectroscopy, 3) doping the semiconductor films with micro sized neodymium oxide (Nd2O3) particles, and (4) incorporating metal nanoparticles through molecular linkers to the semiconductor films. The objectives of this work are to address the limitations of chemical stability existing between TiO2/N719 dye systems, to explore the charge dynamics in TiO2/N719 system for a better understanding of the fundamental mechanisms of DSSCs, and to prepare high efficiency ... I began to see some connections between what we have been learning in English 205 and the video I was watching. What the video shows is a group of ultra rich white men that use their money and politics to keep themselves rich and to keep the rest of us down. They also use their power to advance their political agendas. How did these men get and maintain their money? Some of the men shown in the video come from a long history of money, while some of them made money on their own though dealings on Wall Street. Now, this was not a fair game of monopoly, but a game where there was an ultra rich player, a regular player, and then a poor player. The ultra rich player acted as if they were owed money, while making fun of the poor player quite a bit. This can be seen in our society post civil war. You have white men with all the money, property, and all of the political power keeping the freshly freed slaves in a state of poverty. Even if they didn t actively go after the poor or racial minorities, they still benefited from the system that stacked the cards heavily in their favor. We see in the video that a lot of the rich white men do not want their money to go towards the takers or have nots of society. They don t want the money that they have access to partially because of white privilege to help out those who never even had a shot at succeeding. On the other hand, what we do see is the ultra rich white men expecting the poor and downtrodden, including the large minority population just 10 minutes from their swanky homes in New York City, to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps. How can those who are born in abject poverty, with no access to things that white privilege brings, and a very poor education system be expected to succeed? The recently manicured landscape was ideal for the implementation of the scythed chariots. They were placed up front with a tiny group of fighters. There were a left and right wing of mixed fighters from throughout the land. The front forces led the attack followed shortly by an element that expanded to attack the left flank of the Macedonians. Darius was at the center, engulfed by his finest fighters, a Persian King tradition. On the right were Greek mercenaries and the Persian Horse Guards with the famous Immortals at the right and center. The Macedonians were divided into two groups, Alexander directly commanding the right, and Parmenion on the left. Alexander fought with his chosen elite element and light cavalry. Parmenion s orders were to maneuver in the left quadrant, while his commanding officer delivered the calculated blow from the right.
