Essays On Stem Cell Research
Writing an essay on the topic of stem cell research can be a challenging task, given the
complexity and interdisciplinary nature of the subject. Stem cell research encompasses a wide
range of scientific, ethical, and societal issues, making it necessary for the writer to navigate
through a vast pool of information and perspectives.
One of the primary challenges lies in understanding the intricate scientific concepts associated
with stem cells. This includes grasping the various types of stem cells, their potential applications,
and the ongoing research in the field. The writer must be well-versed in biology, genetics, and
medical terminology to present accurate and insightful information.
Furthermore, addressing the ethical considerations surrounding stem cell research adds another
layer of complexity. The ethical debate often involves conflicting viewpoints, requiring the writer
to carefully analyze and present different perspectives while maintaining a balanced and
objective tone. Negotiating the fine line between scientific advancement and moral concerns
demands a nuanced approach.
In addition to scientific and ethical complexities, the writer must consider the ever-evolving
nature of stem cell research. Staying abreast of the latest developments and breakthroughs in the
field is crucial to provide readers with up-to-date and relevant information. This requires
continuous research and a willingness to adapt the essay to incorporate new findings.
Crafting a coherent and well-structured essay on stem cell research also necessitates effective
communication skills. The writer must organize information logically, present arguments
persuasively, and seamlessly integrate scientific jargon with layman-friendly language. Achieving
clarity and conciseness while conveying complex ideas is an art that requires careful thought and
revision.
In conclusion, writing an essay on stem cell research is no small feat. It demands a thorough
understanding of scientific principles, a keen awareness of ethical considerations, and the ability
to navigate a constantly evolving landscape of research. However, with diligence, research skills,
and a commitment to presenting a balanced perspective, a well-crafted essay on this topic can
provide valuable insights into one of the most promising yet controversial fields of scientific
inquiry.

Bilbo Baggins; Zero to Hero
How does one define a hero? By classic definition, a hero is a man of great strength,
valor and swordsmanship who fights evil even in the face of insurmountable odds to
defend the lives of the innocent and those that can t protect themselves. Indeed it is
these very attributes which separate heroes from the common man. However, the
word herotakes an entirely different connotation in J.R.R. Tolkien s epic tale The
Hobbit, in which the hero of the story is a furry footed, complacent, hole dwelling
hobbit named Bilbo Baggins. At first glance, Bilbo is very much the un hero and
more like an everyday average person than a hero. Unlike the classic definition of a
hero, Bilbo s strength is not measured by the might of his sword (though... Show

While walking down the tunnel towards the dragon, Bilbo hears the great beast
snoring. Going on from there was the bravest thing he ever did. The tremendous
things that happened afterwards were as nothing compared to it. He fought the
real battle in the tunnel alone, before he ever saw the vast danger that lay in wait.
(214) It is because of Bilbo s courage that he is able to conquer the greatest fear of
all the unknown. Bilbo s willingness to persevere given the choice between certain
doom and ending his journey and turning around is what separates Bilbo Baggins
from the common man and is what defines him as a true hero. Loyalty is Bilbo s
greatest strength and the linchpin of his heroism. His un yielding commitment to
his friends and staunch sense of selflessness is what elevates Bilbo to a level
purely reserved for heroes. This act of heroism is manifested throughout the book.
From his rescuing of the dwarves from the savage spiders of Mirkwood, to his aid
and abetment in rescuing the dwarves from an eternal imprisonment in the cave of
the Wood Elves, Bilbo remains loyal to his friends. However, Bilbo s greatest test
of loyalty is his handing over of the Arkenstone to Bard on the eve of the Battle of
Five Armies.

Dido In The Aeneid
Dido had qualities just like Aeneas in The Aeneid . She is a leader and Aeneas who
is the founder of Troy looks up to Dido a woman because of the amount of power
she has. Dido used her leadership skills by telling Aeneas about her
accomplishments and everything that she had been through with running from her
brother who tried to kill her for power. This goes back to the article Origins of the
Family, Private Property, and the State by Frederick Engels, that a woman s role is to
bear child and to maintain her household duties but with Didoin The Aeneidshe was
in a male position of ruling a city and broke out of that stigma. Dido is one of the
examples that men will never be satisfied that women can be leaders and how the
shift of power between men and women affects men in Rome. Once a powerful

Women were always oppressed and dominated by men all over the world. Women
were enslaved to men in every way possible because they were seen as weak to be

power by Hartman, during the 19th century slaves were seen as objects or property
to their masters. Hartman states the utter negation of the captive s will required to
secure absolute submission was identified as willful submission to the master in
the topsy turvy scenario of onerous passions. Slaves were considered to always
willing to have sex and also, they had no power over their own bodies. A slave s
seduction to the owner was seen as her fault. A woman s body is seen as a powerful
mechanism for men to dominate but in reality, slaves are strong in the sense that they
dominate the dominator with the use of their bodies in which Hartman discuss in her
text. Females are sexualized, and their seduction is conceived as a strength in
The Exploration And Development Of Coal Seam Gas
The exploration and development of coal seam gas (CSG) have important strategic
significance. On one hand, it improves energy structure and increases energy
resources. On the other hand, the CSG indirectly protects the global environment by
using the clean energy. Although the CSG has so many benefits, CSG extraction is
still an industry of high input, high risk and high technology needing under the
current conditions. In order to reduce its potential risk, it is essential to operate the
project evaluation by using economic assessment before the CSG extraction. Actually,
there are four popular economic evaluation techniques in economic assessment
system, they are Benefit Cost Analysis (BCA), Cost Effectiveness Analysis (CEA),
Cost Utility... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the process of BCA, all benefits and costs should be quantified and monetised if
feasible and material (Florio et.al 2007). This result is referred to as the Net Present
Value(NPV) (Shrives et.al 2001). When the CSG managers choose the BCA, they
can achieve obvious benefits from four aspects. At first, the BCA is focused on a
specific community such as NSW and QLD that avoid other major negative
impacts. Secondly, the development of each aspects is well considered by the
BCA. For instance, the BCA usually assesses the changeable benefits and costs over
time (Dickinson et.al 2015). Thirdly, the BCA is not only as a part of economic
assessment but also can let decision makers consider trade offs which is helpful for
assessment outcomes. At last, the BCA is comprehensive that includes all economic,
social and environmental impacts. However, this key feature of the BCA brings
decision makers many uncertainties. For example, realistically, evaluation of some
impacts is partly uncertain and subjective. Therefore, the positive NPV does always
show the CSG projects are concerned by the public interest (Chen et.al 2013).
Meanwhile, the BCA just pays attention on the economic benefits and costs, like the
climate change and biodiversity such natural changes are often ignored. For example,

3. For your current organisation (or one that you are familiar with), describe the
policies and procedures that relate to customer service. Why is it important to follow
these policies and procedures?
One of the hotel policies for Premier Inn is that the guests must check out of their
room before 11am and checking in is at 2pm. That gives housekeeping time to
clean and prepare the rooms for the following guests. However it is also hotel
policy to never turn a guest away no matter what time they leave or arrive. So the
procedure is that if the guest arrives too early we first check in to see if there are
any clean and ready that they can be checked into. If there are then the guest can
be asked to complete the relevant forms and settle the payment then go to the
prepared room. If the room is not ready then the guest will be invited to complete
their paper work and then wait in the food court next door and then the receptionist
will call them when a room is ready. It is important to follow the procedures
because that is how a business upholds its standards. Failure to follow the
procedures might lead to different levels of service that will cause confusion to the
guests and staff alike. Dissatisfied guests are a result of differences between the
styles of service provided by various members of the same team in a company.

The United States Geological Survey on Sinkholes
The United States Geological Survey (USGS, n.d.) defines a sinkhole as an area of
ground that has no natural external surface drainage when it rains, all of the water
stays inside the sinkhole and typically drains into the subsurface. Sinkholes vary in
size considerably: from a few feet in diameter and one foot of depth, to hundreds of
acres wide and more than 100 feet deep, (USGS, n.d.). Some sinkholes form naturally
over time, but human intervention such as construction and development projects
have been causing the rapid development of sinkholes in the state of Florida. These
large scale projects can have disastrous effects on the economy and environment, as
well as public safety. Sinkholes are especially problematic when they occur suddenly,
without warning, in urban areas (USGS, n.d.). Florida is especially prone to
sinkholes because of its natural geology. According to Tihansky (n.d.), Sinkholes are
a common, naturally occurring geologic feature and one of the predominant
landforms in Florida. Florida sits atop a massive, relatively insoluble carbonate
platform that is submerged beneath the surface (Mosher, n.d., Learn About Sinkholes
). The carbonate layer is susceptible to dissolution by circulating ground water, which
is why sinkholes are especially common throughout the state (Tihansky, n.d., p. 121).
The thickness of the carbonate platform varies throughout the peninsula. Carbonates
also promote the karst geomorphology that underlies Florida s
The Need to Reform or Abolish The Electoral College Essay
The Electoral College is the United States archaic process of electing presidents. It
was established in the Constitution as a compromise between election by Congress
and election by popular vote. Each state is given a specific number of electors based
on the number of its U.S. Representatives and Senators (NARA). This allows for
over representation of small states and under representation of large states, while the
winner takes all format followed by most states could result in a candidate winning
the popular vote but losing the election(NARA). This has actually happened on four
separate occasions, leaving four black marks on the nation s history (NARA). Despite
these mishaps and constant calls for reform, the faulty system remains in... Show

While this has never changed the outcome of an election, the possibility is still
there, and that alone should be cause enough for one to advocate reform
(Fairvote.org). Twenty four states, including Indiana, do not legally require
electors to vote for a specific candidate (NARA). In these states, electors can
essentially vote for whoever they want, and face no charges. Electors in the
remaining twenty six states and Washington, D.C. are bound by state law or
pledges to vote for a specific candidate (NARA). However, the penalties in these
states are usually trivial, and rarely enforced (Fairvote.org). One or several rogue
electors could easily disregard the popular opinion of the state, such as in Virginia
during the 1836 election. Virginia s popular vote saw Martin Van Buren and running
mate Richard Mentor Johnson on top of the polls. However, Johnson wasn t
particularly popular in southern states, as he had previously been in a relationship
with a mulatto slave. As a result, the twenty three Virginia electors instead cast their
vice presidential votes for William Smith, leaving Johnson with the most electoral
votes but one shy of a majority. The vote then went to the Senate, where Johnson
was finally elected as Vice President. The election came dangerously close to being
soiled by the bigoted Virginia electors, but thankfully all was set right by the Senate
under the provisions of

Antigone In Sophocles Play
Authors use characters in their writing for different purposes. Some characters are
allowed realistic characteristics, while others are simply used to move the plot along.
In Sophocles play, Antigone, the question of whether or not Antigone was a real
character is a major point of discussion. Some students may argue Antigone is used
as a mouthpiece. On the other hand, some argue she is portrayed as a realistic
character. However, through his ability to portray Antigone as a real person,
Sophoclesgave Antigone realistic characteristics rather than using her as a
mouthpiece to advance the plot along.
In the beginning of the play, Eteocles and Polyneices fought over the throne. As a
result of their feud, they both died in a horrendous ... Show more content on

Antigone was especially connected to her sister. The had the sisterly bond like
any other sisters in the world. To fully gain an understanding of the fact, we need
to see how Sophocles stated it in the play. In the prologue on line 68, Antigone tells
her sister, You have yourself to consider, after all. Antigone portrayed sarcasm
towards her sister. Anyone who has siblings have, at some point in their life, argue
with their sibling through sarcasm. Antigone was trying to make Ismene feel
terrible for not helping her commit the crime of burial. Most sibling rivalry ends
with one sibling trying to make the other feel sorry for them. In the same way,
Antigone, later on in the play, demands, You [Ismene] should not lessen my death
by sharing it Ismene declares back with, What do I care for life when you are done
(Scene 2, lines 138 139). In this example, Antigone did not want Ismene to risk her
life for doing nothing. Any siblings would take a bullet to save each other. Then,
Ismene explains to Antigone that she will not be able to live a day without Antigone.
Anyone who loses their sibling would not want to live another day knowing they will
never see them again. Therefore, Antigone and Ismene try to protect each other as

The Case Of Negligent Misstatement
From considering all of the facts of Giant Plc. Vs. Hatchet Co, it is evident that we
are faced with the problem of negligent misstatement. It could be argued that this
case could be somewhat in relation to tort of deceit. However, this only applies
when someone intentionally lies when making a statement, and from looking at the
facts of this case there is no evidence of this so the problem has to be based on
negligent misstatement. The underlying problem of this case is that the audit
accounts made by the defendants for the Giant Plc were not accurate, which
resulted in the share value of the company to fall drastically and shareholders losing
their investments. Thus Hatchet Co are faced with defending themselves in a case
of negligent misstatement. Both Giant Plc and its shareholders, the claimants for
this particular case, faced economic loss and want the necessary damages to
counteract this. Negligent misstatement is when a false statement of fact is made
honestly but carelessly (REFERENCE). When it comes to this area of law, courts
do not like to award duty of care when there is pure economic loss. This was evident
in the case of Candler Vs. Crane (1951) where they held, in reference to Lord Atkin s
neighbour principle (Donoghue Vs. Stevenson, 1932), that there are limited factors
that permit duty of care and that it must meet two requirements of there being:
reasonable foresight of harm and a relationship of proximity. The court also realised
here, that if there
Realism Vs Liberalism
A theory of international relations is a set of the ideas that explains how the
international system works and how it s operated. Unlike an ideology, a theory of
international relations would at least be in principle, backed up with a large amount
of concrete evidence. The two major theories of international relationswould be
realism and liberalism. Liberalism and realism are two of the most important theories
in the field of International Relations. All because they are both different from one
another in a number of ways but also have stuff in common which show and help us
understand the concept more simple. Realism holds that all states pursue their
interests, while liberalism holds that states can cooperate with one another and act...

Secondly, there are even the accentuates mutual benefits and international cooperation
which means that are in international relations, multilateralism is a kind of alliance
where multiple countries progress to any given goal. And it also implements

preference and also even their policy choices. The liberals believe that the
international institution plays a key role in the cooperation among all states. Even
with the correct international, and with increasing interdependence which also
includes the economic and the cultural exchange all states have a large opportunity
to reduce all conflict that is happening at the time. Other Liberals emphasize
democracy and civil liberties. And that liberalism is the political doctrine that takes
protecting and enhancing the freedom of the individual to be the central problem of
politics. It s also a political philosophy or worldview founded on ideas of Liberty and
equality, depending on their understanding of these principles, but generally they
support ideas and programs such as freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom
of religion, free markets, and civil rights. Democratic societies, gender equality and
international cooperation when it became popular. Some of the central themes of
liberalism is that the understanding that all human beings are
Religion Vs English Civil War Essay
One similarity between the English Civil War and The French Wars of Religion was
that both events were trying to incite change to government through politically
ambitious men.The English Civil War was an ongoing conflict between the royalists
and parliamentarians over the setup of the government. Cromwell, a member of the
parliament, defeated and executed the King Charles I with his New Model Army and
created the Commonwealth, a republic that was really run as a military dictatorship
under his power. Cromwell and his supporters attempted to establish a new form of
government, since the monarchy and parliament wasn t solving any of the long
lasting political conflicts. The French Wars of Religion demonstrated that the civil

In England, the nobles and commoners had established power through parliament.
The monarchy run by Charles I was bound to fail because the government had no
money, and therefore authority, when he refused to tax because the parliament would
only let the monarch use the tax money if they could have representation in
government. After having a long lasting power struggle that didn t establish a proper
relationship between the king and parliament, England needed a radical change of
government that would stop the cycle. The English government didn t establish a
proper relationship between the king and the parliament, dating back to 1215 when
the Magna Carta was signed: It limited the monarch s power, but didn t establish how
much representation the parliament and king got in government. Parliament realized
that they needed to strengthen their power by doing away with the monarch. In the
French Wars of Religion, the Estates General didn t really meet and didn t have
much representation in government. Unlike the English, the idea of a body ruling
was too radical, and the three aristocratic families sought to increase power by
becoming new monarchs. They tried to gain power by becoming king or hoping that
a weak monarch would allow them to

currently wholesales cars and retails boats. The idea with this company would be to

we would start to wholesale the boats to other retailers across the United States.

Pricing The Product Application When opening a business that will manufacture
boats and then retail them pricing is important especially when you get into
wholesaling to other retailers. As seller s we want to make enough revenue to cover
cost and make a profit. But when customers are looking to purchase a boat we want
their perceived benefits to be greater than price to create more value. A customer that
buys a boat gives the seller money in exchange for a boat. Or they customer trades
in a boat plus cash in exchange for a boat. If sellers and customer s views have high
dissonance then it most likely won t lead to a purchase on the customer s part.
Based on experience in the boat industry and with the car industry the odds that
someone goes into a retailer to purchase a boat or vehicle at full price is very low.
The textbook shows the price equation as, price= list price incentives and
allowances + extra fees. When pricing you want to take into consideration what
incentives and allowances you want to include and make sure your list price is high
enough that when you deduct incentives and allowance you are still making a profit.
As the textbook states, the amount paid is not always the same as the list, or quoted,
price because discounts, allowances and extra fees (pg 318).

The Big Lebowski (1998) by the Coen Brothers is no doubt a comedy film about
friendships between three bowling buddies with differing personalities who met and

In your wisdom, Lord, you took him. As you took so many bright flowering young
men at Khe Sanh, at Langdok, at Hill 364! These young men gave their lives. And
so did Donny. Donny, who loved bowling. The reason why the director placed this
line in the eulogy is to show how Walter considered this an opportunity to a closure
of years and years wasted in memories. The Coen Brothers put a vivid, living proof
of Walter being stuck in the past on screen via his costume throughout the movie with
his trademark safari vest, amber lens aviator sunglasses and the military dog tag that
he always kept close in the film.
Apart from the genuine friendship between the Dude, Walter and Donny, the
eulogy dialogue also implies another layer of meaning from the movie concerning
generation loss, changes and the cycle of life. Although the three main characters
are bound together by bowling but Donny is the only one we ever do see bowl, in
fact, we only seem to notice his existence at the bowling alley but his bowling
results never did come to the Dude nor Walter s notice. From the way how Donny
let Walter call him names, swear at him and never really get to enjoy bowling s fun,
to Donny being scared to death with an heart attack caused by Nihilists attack or
even after Donny s death, when there is no family member but only Walter and the
Dude to take care of his remains indicates a generation ignored and lost.

Uncanny In Blade Runner
As we are introduced to the story of Blade Runner the adaptation of Philip K. Dick
s novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? we enter a not so distant future, Los
Angeles in the year 2019. While it takes place only 37 years after the original release
of the film, and does not hold any extreme differences to our reality, there are
numerous aspects of this not so far off version of our world that remains unsettling to
the viewer. The ways in which the world within the film mirror aspects of Sigmund
Freud s understanding of the uncanny can be seen in: the representation of the double
through the confrontation between Deckard and the replicant, Rachael; the focus on
eyes as a representation of castration anxiety; and Freud s commentary... Show more

Freud acknowledges the connection between eyes and the castration complex
through the studies of dreams, phantasies and myths which teaches that, a morbid
anxiety connected with the eyes and going blind is often enough a substitute for
the dread of castration (7). Although, Freud goes on to say that the fears of going
blind and the fears of castration may simply stem from a fear of losing such a vital
organ; which is represented in the replicants initial fear as they learn that what
they have believed to have seen was all an allusion. The replicants possession of
memories acts as a way to artificially orchestrate the belief that they are human
beings since they do not have a sense of their lifespan or of their origination. Just as
Freud points out the feeling of something uncanny in the story of the Sand Man,
which is attached to the idea of being robbed of one s eyes (7), the same feeling of
being robbed of one s sight can be projected on to the robbing of Rachael s memories
since the replicants hold on to belief that their memories are something they have
seen. To the replicants, the heimlich, the familiar, becomes the unheimlich, the
unfamiliar. The artificiality of the eyes of replicants is connected to the artificiality
of the memories within replicants. The viewer is able to relate to this feeling as they
can relate to the aspect of uncanniness in repetition; the experience of dГ©jГ vu.
When one experiences dГ©jГ vu, it creates the sense that you have seen or done
something before, that you are repeating a moment from your memories, but instead
you realize in a moment of clarity that what you are seeing is artificial which
disturbs us as it causes the unfamiliar to take on a sense of

Saussure, on the other hand, determined a sign as including a signifier and a
signified. Both of them function together and cannot be detached. The former is the
form of a sign, such as a word, photo, image, or an object. The latter is the conception
that the signifier tries to let the interpreters decode (Hall 1997: 31). Saussure further
argued that signs have no fixed meanings and such meanings can change. Cultural
codes are not universally fixed meanings and words can change meanings both within
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization Is Only At The...
Conclusion
Thus, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is only at the initial stage of its
development, there are obvious problems, but there is progress. After just five years
since its foundation, it is developing a high level cooperation in the fight against
terrorism, separatism and extremism. There is the potential for qualitative steps in the
fight against the drug menace, successfully developing economic cooperation, signed
many important documents are created and continue to create the necessary
structures and mechanisms for their implementation. For the SCO there is still much
to do and decide, but it is already clear, the organization becomes a powerful and
effective international institution that attracts the eyes from all around the globe, it is
gradually turning into an important tool of international politics and security.
In recent years there have been many discussions and comments on the geopolitical
nature of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Matthew Brummer in the Journal
of international affairs, monitors the effects of the expansion of the Shanghai
Cooperation Organization in the Persian Gulf. Iranian writer Hamid Golpira said:
According to the theory of Zbigniew Brzezinski , control the Eurasian continent is the
key to world domination, and control over Central Asia is the key to control of the
Eurasian continent. Russia and China have drawn attention to Brzezinski s theory,
since they formed the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in 2001,
Similarities Between The Thirteen British Colonies
The thirteen British colonies share many similarities as the building blocks of the
United States of America we have today. As much as they are similar, they are
separated by different origins and histories. Arranged by their geographic locations,
the colonies can be organized into New England, Middle, and Southern colonies, each
having a specific pattern of development. In the cases of politics, religion, legal
systems, and economy, the thirteen are very much alike. Before settling in America,
all the original colonists lived under Britain s rule. Forms of Protestantism were
practiced throughout the colonies. All trading followed mercantilism rules. At
various degrees, all colonies fought the Natives due to land ownership. Salutary

Arguments Against The Cost Of Robotic Surgery
SURGEON ROBOTS
Robotic surgery or da Vinci Surgery has grown past the investigational arrange and is
presently routinely utilized as a part of insignificantly intrusive general surgery,
paediatric surgery, gynaecology, urology, cardiothoracic surgery. It is a surgery that
uses robots to operate the patient. Against the frequent arguments in favor of robot
surgeons, the robots are not the future version of doctors, because they have
disadvantages like high outlay, detriments and underrating the doctor s role.
A frequently heard objection to robotic surgery, is that it sustains its cost, however
even the average charge is excessive. As Frazer Anderson pointed out that it
justifies its cost with fast recovery by decreasing the medical and support charges
(2010). This position goes on to further argue that its price will descent. Anyhow,
there will be upgrades and updates repeatedly, as emphasized by Frazer Anderson;
With a price tag of million dollars, the cost of surgeon robot is nearly prohibitive.
(2010). Therefore, the cost of the system can increase as the machines evolves. As a
result, even it is said that the cost will be justified, the charge of this inventions will
rise day after day with the development of the technology.
Another argument in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s claimed to be more controllable. As stated by the article Different Approaches to
Radical Prostatectomy the Da Vinci surgery will increase in case of the prostate
cancer treatment. However, when the robots get to do all the surgery, it will
underrate the role of the doctor. Furthermore, as Julia Lange stated that robots will
take the place of the brain of the doctors and robots has no empathy(unknown). So,
seeing the robotic surgery as a more precise way of operating, it cannot justify
damaging the bond between patient and the
Increase The Toughness Of Steels After Quenching Process
Abstract:
Tempering is an important heat treating process, which is used to increase the
toughness of steels after quenching process. Hollomon Jaffe equation
H=T(c+logвЃЎt ) is widely used to predict hardness with different tempering
temperature and tempering time. T is the tempering temperature, t is the tempering
time and c is the constant for the specific steel. The physical explanation of c constant
was not clear. In this paper, the hardness and c/a ratio of tempered martensite for AISI
4140 were measured by X Ray Diffraction and Rietveld refinement. The result reveals
that the c/a ratio decreases instantly within the first 60s tempering time. After analysis
based on the experiment results and derivation of Hollomon Jaffe equation, c, the
parameter in Hollomon Jaffe equation, is found to stand for the slope of carbon
hardness curve.
Key words: Tempering, martensite, X ray diffraction, Hollomon Jaffe equation
1. Introduction
All steels that are hardened are subjected to a subcritical heat treatment referred to as
tempering . Tempering improves the toughness of as quenched martensite (body
center tetragonal) but lowers strength and hardness 1, . The microstructure
transformation is very complex: Stage1: The formation of transition carbides and
lowering of the carbon content of the martensite to 0.25% (100 to 250в„ѓ) Stage2:
The transformation of retained austenite to ferrite and cementite (200 to 300в„ѓ)
Stage3: The replacement of transition carbides and low temperature
Jack London Fire
3.The short story To Build a Fire by Jack London starts off with a man who travels
to the Yukon, a major river in Alaska and western Canada, on an extremely cold
winter day with a wolf dog. The man was a newcomer in the Yukon and this winter
was going to be his first. The man is planning to meet a group of his friends at a
camp by six o clock. He plans on traveling alone with his wolf dogbecause he states
that he is not fazed by the cold. An older timer on Sulphur Creek warns the man to
not go into the wilder of Yukonon his own, but he refuses to listen and lets his ego
get the best of him. So the man sets forth his journey with his dog and no other
companion. As the days goes on and the weather grows colder, the ma realizes that

However, as soon as he thinks that he is safe and thinks that the old timer did not
know what he was talking about, the fire is tarnished by the snow that fell from the
spruce tree. Because the man did not consider looking around and observing his
surroundings, he builds the fire under a spruce tree, which he immediately regrets
after he finds out. This mistake might have caused the man his life. Now that the
fire had went out due to the snow, the man s hands and feet were uncovered and he
knew that if he does not start another fire he will lose them. Trying to start another
fire as soon as possible the man realizes that he cannot feel his hands. In frustration
and fear the man thinks that he should kill the dog and put his hands in his body to
warm them up in order to start the fire. He does not go through with it and tries to
run as far as he can get, but falls numerous times before realizing he is going to die.
The man realizes that the old timer was right and only hoped that his friends might
find his body in the morning. He then fall off into, what seems to him, a comfortable
and satisfying sleep. As soon as the dog smells the man s scent, he runs to the
Game 4 Of The Western Conference Finals
Game 4 OT ThrillerIt was Saturday in Chicago, around 8 in the morning, that
seemed to be moving as fast as a turtle crawling a marathon. Shooting the breeze
outside with my father, I was quietly pondering a question. After staring into the
distance, gazing at the alluring pine trees on the horizon glistened by the scorching
sun s rays, my dad broke the long silence. He said, son, why are you so quiet? You
seem to be in deep thought. Quietly I responded, You know that game 4 of the

The drive from Chicago to Arlington Heights was almost an hour long. The whole
time in the car I couldn t keep my mind off the Chicago Blackhawks hockey game.
How many times would the opportunity arise that I would be in Chicago and the
Blackhawks playing in the Stanley Cup semi finals? There had to be a way we could
find tickets for less than what my dad said they cost. An idea hit me out of no
where, I knew my uncle Larry was going to attend the Baptism, after all he is a
season ticket holder. I couldn t be selfish and just run up to him and ask if he had
any extra tickets. My entire family was going to be at the church and I wanted to
be sure and enjoy the little time with them since I no longer live in Chicago. Plus,
the day wasn t about me or the game, it was all about my cousin Evie accepting

Abbasid Caliphate Research Paper
The Abbasid Caliphate ruled between the years of 750 to 1254 C.E. During this 495
year ruling, the Islamic community reached an enormous level of intelligence that
never been witnessed in Caliphate before. The Abbasid caliphate became to power
because of the negligence of the Umayyad Caliphate to the Islamic people. When the
Abbasid Caliphate came into power they moved the Islamic capital from Damascus to
Khoda dad. They borrowed and mixed their political and institutions with the
Persians. During this time, great revolutions occurred such as; literature, law,

In such a huge continent, it may seem unreal that Islam had also had a huge influence
on the people. What Muslims brought to the table that Europe wasn t really good at
was innovation in medicine. The Abbasid Caliphate was the first to want to spread
the knowledge they had to the regions around them. They had one of these most
educated professionals and these people such as doctors influenced Latin America.
Their ideas and techniques were acquired by the Europeans and they tried to
replicate what the Muslims were doing. These ideas dominated Latin Europe in the
medical standpoint. The writing concepts of Hippocrates, Galen, Rhazes, and
Avicenna became widely accepted and diffused in western Europe. By the fourth
century, the work of these writers, among others, dominated the medical curriculum
at the universities of Montpellier and Bologna, Avicenna says in the fourth of the
Fractures, three hundred and twenty five years as they gloss it there, but in truth
there were five hundred and eighty six years. The influence of Islamic medicine
teaches and ideas lead the Europeans to improve on the medical field. Without the
help of the Islamic people in Europe, there can be speculations that it would not
have gotten out of the dark ages. With the help of Muslims, Europe was able to
cognitively educate themselves with the works of the Muslims doctors and begin
new medical revolutions that were one of their key way to exit the dark
Managed Health Care Analyzed Essay
The health care industry in the United States is very diverse and dynamic. The
continued growth of managed health care is influenced by the economy, the need,
and the regulatory regulations set forth on the industry. If one of these forces
changes, it can affect the entire group; this causes the managed health care industry
to be at the mercy of its roots and the industry s need for it. What started out as a
simple idea has turned into a complex and ever growing industry that is necessary for
the health care industry to stay afloat in the world today. The health care system is
ever changing and it appears that change is the only constant in the managed care
organizations. Despite the constant changes in managed health care and the blurring...

If the health care market place continues to consolidate, the defined line of managed
health care continues to be blurred. As the health care market demands change, so
does the managed health care plans. These ever changing plans are crucial for the
survival of managed health care plans and companies (Kongstvedt, 2001). Change is
inevitable when it is a faltering system; such as health care and insurance, which
means in the health care industry there is nothing constant in the contemporary
managed care systems. When speaking of managed health care, some find it to be
an institution set forth as a response to the consistently rising health care costs, that
some viewed as detrimental to the United States economy as a whole. Others
viewed managed care as a documented response to health care quality problems that
have long been ignored. That the problems managed health care would specifically
help rectify patterns of over and underuse, misuse, and any geographic variation in
the medical services provided to citizens (Kongstvedt, 2001). Both of these ideals
had a hand in the wide spread adoption of managed health care in the United States,
they do not define the foundational and personal changes that needed to occur in
order to accommodate such a large change. However, following the introduction of
the health maintenance organizations or HMO s there has been an over flow of
managed care programs and products being created in the United States.
Proverbs in Things Fall Apart
Proverbs are wise sayings that address the heart of the discourse in any given context,
truthfully and objectively. In Africa and in Nigerian cultures especially, they are
considered the reliable horses, which convey meanings to their destinations or hearts
of the listeners. This study investigates aspects of the meaning of proverbs in the
work of a Nigerian author, Achebe s Things Fall Apart. It is contended that meanings
of Nigerian proverbs can be worked out within the semantic, referential, ideational,
stimulus response, realist and contextual theories. Types of meaning and proverbs are
addressed and situated within the two works. It is advanced that proverbs play
significant roles in clarifying, exemplifying, underscoring and... Show more content

Theory: Stimulus Response Types: Denotative, Affective. Analysis: There is a tact
advice almost coinciding with the English proverb, one good turn deserves another
here. If a person accords honor or reverence to the successful ones, it is likely that
he is also going to be successful. In other words, the sense of the proverb is that a
person who helps another man helps himself indirectly as he gets familiar with what
that man engages in and this will ultimately lead him also to greatness, directly or
indirectly. 5 A toad does not run in the daytime for nothing.15 Theory: Ideational
Types: Denotative/Stylistic Analysis: The proverb tasks our mental conception or
general knowledge of the toad as a nocturnal animal. If such an animal therefore does
run (a lexical item preferred by the author for metaphorical or stylistic effect, against
the normal collocative word, jump ) in the day, there must be something amiss. The
sense of the proverb is that there is a cause for anything strange that happens; there
must be a reason, at least no smoke without fire . A toad running in daytime is
probably pursuing something or certainly something is pursuing it. It has to do with
the cause effect relationship. An old woman is always uneasy when dry bones are

The Struggle between Hercules and Hera Essay
During the time of hercule s birth, Zeus it clear that a child of Perseus, would rule
Mycenae.
Hera, because she was jealous, persuaded the goddess of childbirth, to hold back
Alcmena s delivery, and made it that Eurystheus, also a descendant of Perseus, is
going to be arrived already seven months old.
Heracles lost the throne of Mycenae because of this. Heracles was eight months old

Why Uranium Is The New Green By William Sweet
At the beginning of last year, I convinced my family to start using environmentally
products, focusing on green technology. In order to apply environmental
technology properly and effectively, I had to figure out what alternative forms of
energy existed and how well they worked. This led to my questioning: what other
forms of energy could the United States be pursuing to increase its production of
electricity? In an effort to research different form of energy and their benefits and
detriments, I read two articles: A Letter to the Editor by David Rockwood and Why
Uranium is the New Green by William Sweet. In his letter, David Rockwood, a
professional engineer, discusses the several inaccuracies and possible ramifications of
wind poweras a main source of electricity. Rockwood claims that wind power is
unreliable because of flaws in its system and design, not to mention the detrimental
environmental impact. Similarly, in his article William Sweet, a college graduate,
talks about different ways to impose some kind of carbon regulation. Sweet
compares nuclear and wind power to coalburning power, remarking that nuclear and
wind power technologies can make an immediate beneficial difference on greenhouse
gas emissions. Despite the fact that Rockwood goes in depth on only wind power
while Sweet talks about multiple sources of power, both of the articles made me think
that the United States should pursue some other form of energy to increase its
production of electricity.

Cadbury is the leading player in confectionery, with its Dairy Milk brand, as

Cadbury has unfortunately seen lack of penetration in the rural market where people
tend to dismiss it as a high end product, as the prices do range between standard and
premium, never any less. The reason for high prices is due some of the cocoa, a
major ingredient, having to be imported, resulting in several charges and a higher
inventory. The company must also find solutions to natural conditions, for example,
heat. The majority of the markets in India are not air conditioned, hence cannot store
chocolates, at least during hot summers, which limits market access.
Industrial Production
Cadbury, beside many other companies, supply the local market through its local
production units. Cadbury India manages to practice this through five factories,
located in Thane, Pune, Induri and Malanpur in West India, and Baddi in North
India. Cocoa, being a major raw material as discussed, is not only imported but also
procured mainly from local plantations in South India, in the states of Kerala, Tamil
Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The company, after manufacturing many of its
mouthwatering products exports them in bulk to Sri Lanka, Dubai, the US and the
Maldives. The positive outcome of this is that Cadbury India does not have to be
involved in third party manufacturing.

The Future Of The American City Essay
The city is a vital, breathing, and often vibrant life force to its metropolitan area,
region, state, and country. Cities, within the United States function typically as the
jobs, cultural, and educational centers of their region. They tend to be more diverse
than their surrounding communities, and they often face sets of problems that the
suburbs and rural areas do not deal with. Some of the main issues that will face and
shape cities over the next ten years include gentrification, environmental
sustainability, and immigration. The way in which each of these issues is addressed
will greatly impact the future of the American city.
One of the most important concepts to understand about cities and neighborhoods is
that they are ever changing. Economics and demographic trends tend to shift
dramatically over the decades. In coastal cities, such as Los Angeles, San Francisco,
New York, and Washington, DC, as well as many Sunbelt cities this has led to the
rapid gentrification of poor urban communities. Other cities throughout the nation s
interior also experience gentrification, but typically at a slower rate. While many
argue that gentrification is detrimental, as it often displaces residences who live in
the upcoming communities, due to rising rents and house prices, the reality is much
less clear cut. On one hand residents may unfortunately be displaced, but on the other
hand much needed improvements often make their way to the neighborhood. In the

Explain the main factors that influence the rate of economic growth Economic
growth will be different in M.E.D.Cs than it will be in L.E.D.Cs. The reason for
this is that M.E.D.Cs are already developed and vast improvement may not be
possible but in L.E.D.Cs they have a long way to catch up so it is easier for them
to expand vastly. Economies like China and India have potential for vast economic
growth because of a huge population. If these countries got their act together then
they would be the world leaders. These two countries alone account for 40% of the
worlds population. Land Different countries possess different amounts of land, it is

Labour Increasing the number of workers in an economy should lead to economic
growth. Increases in the labour force can result from three factors Changes in
Demography If more young people enter the workforce and then leave it, the size
of the workforce will increase. Many countries will experience falls in the number
of young people entering the workforce over the next few years due to a fall in the
birth rate in the late 70s and 80s. Increases in participation rates Most men who
wish to work are in the labour force. However there is a considerable amount of
women who could be brought into the labour force if the employment
opportunities were present. Immigration This is an easy way of increasing the
labour force. It is also good if the company or firm wants cheap labour as well
because a lot of foreigners will work for a lot cheaper than what the British workers
would work for. The workers however must be sufficiently educated to cope with the
demands of the existing stock of capital, be flexible and need to be able to contribute
to change. Capital The stock of capital needs to increase over time if economic
growth is to be sustained. This means that there has to be sustained investment in the
economy. This though does not always cause high growth because some investment
is not growth related e.g. investment in a new hospital is unlikely to create much
wealth in the future.

The Importance of Booster Seats and Seat Belts
In 2011 there were 650 deaths of children who were not properly buckled or in a
car seat when riding in a vehicle, with the use of a booster that could have been
extremely reduced. Families are out on road trips so much more than in the past,
which means that children are in the car far more than they used to be ( Booster ...
1). Almost 7, 000 children were involved in accidents in 2006 and 45% of them
were not restrained and received fatal injuries ( Statistics... 6). In 2006, there were
approximately 5 child fatalities daily ( Statistics... 2).This number could be lowered if
children would be placed in proper booster or car seats for their age and buckled
soundly. Most children that are not buckled are from families where the parent
does not buckle up ( Child Passenger Safety 2). When in a car, only about 21% of
children ages 4 8 years of age are occasionally riding in a booster ( Child Passenger
Safety Statistics 4).These precautions help children to be secure in case of an accident
. In an article published by the CDC, they stated, Buckling children in age and size
appropriate car seats, booster seats, and seat belts reduces the risk of serious and
fatal injuries ( Child Passenger Safety 4). The laws state that all children should be in
a car seat, for a reason. Use of seat belts are important but the combination of seat
belts and boosters together, are proven to help keep children from deaths and injuries
in accidents, especially when they are used
My Experience At A Graduate University Of Iowa City

Summary
The realization that I was unequivocally now a graduate student occured to me when
I was sitting across from the counselor that I was interviewing for this project. The
feelings I experienced beforehand were both excitement and anxiety. I felt nervous
about being a guest at a high school and interviewing a seasoned counselor.
However, I was thrilled about learning from a veteran in the field and having the
freedom to ask the questions that I wanted to know.
The School Counselor that I interviewed was Ben Fraga of Iowa City High School.
Similar to me, Fraga had received his College degree in psychology before
pursuing a career in School Counseling. He had received his degree from the
University of Iowa (near his hometown) before traveling to Arizona State for a
Masters degree in School Counseling. After graduating and completing his
internship, he applied to many school counseling positions in the midwest region.
He ended up receiving a position at Lane Tech High School near chicago (close to
where I grew up). Fraga spent nine years as a school counselor at Lane Tech before
getting a position at City High and moving back to where he grew up in Iowa city.
Ben has now been a School Counselor for fourteen years. For the first five years of
his tenure as a counselor Ben was able to manage being a school counselor in
addition to being a coach for high school baseball. Ben ultimately retired as a coach
as he began establishing a family.

Chapter 1: INTRODUCTION
Capital market is now playing a strategic role in a country s economic growth. It
facilitates the exchange of funds between company as demander and investor as
supplier. The existence of capital market enables company to obtain an alternative
source of fund. On the other hands, it gives flexibility for investor to choose
investment based on their preference. For both company and investor who are
involved in the capital market, understanding about capital market condition becomes
matter in order to understand how the market is actually works. One aspect of capital
market conditions that might become consideration before deciding to invest is the
market efficiency. The term of market efficiency, which is found in the capital market
literature, is used to elaborate the relationship between the information and the share
price. In 1970, Fama proposed the Efficient Market Theory and defined capital
market efficiency as the market in which prices fully reflect all available information.

Queer Theory
In the last 20 years the LGBTQ community has started to receive more amounts of
air time than in years past, this can be both a blessing and a curse, depending on
who is asked (Marshall, 2016). Looking at characters like Will Truman from NBC s
Will Grace to the more recently Cam Tucker from 20th Century Fox s Modern
Family, the representation of gaycharacters is bountiful amounts in modern television.
However, are these representations accurate? Do all members of the LGBTQ
community feel as though they are being accurately represented, and if not how can
this be changed? This essay will be examining different subgroups in the LGBTQ
community through the means of Modern Family, Orange is the New Black and
RuPaul s Drag Race, and how these... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From public figures like Ellen DeGeneres to several of the Orange is the New
Black stars on Netflix, the amount of women who identify as public figures before
they are lesbians is on the rise (Reed, 2009). When many people hear the term
lesbian , they think of a butch like figure who is full of tattoos and challenges the
dominant heteronormative ideology, but what modern television is seeing is a
large rise of an assimilating affect on lesbian characters, making them easy to
understand for those who are not apart of the LGBTQ community (Reed, 2009).
Representation of characters, and the instances when these diverse charcters get to
take the spot light, does often occur, but within narrow tropes of gay stereotypes
like mentioned before (Saha, 2012). In order to counter act these narrow tropes
and lack of accurate representation, the Gay Lesbian Alliacne Against Defamation
(GLAAD) was created. The initial findings of stufy done in 2006 discovered that
only 1.3% of characters on major networks identified as LGBTQ, which is still
quite low in modern television (GLAAD, 2006). Enter Netlfix s smash hit Orange is

Attitudes and Beliefs Social esteems allude to persisting standards or conviction
frameworks to which a man or a public is conferred. The benefits of nursing in the
States are, for instance, installed in the estimations of the U.S. American culture
with its accentuation on independence and independence (Davis, 1999). Essential
to the esteem set on independence are the convictions that people can pull
themselves up by their bootstraps and that a person s rights are more critical than a
society s (Davis, 1999). Be that as it may, many societies don t share the power of
the estimation of independence. Consider the true information exhibited by Davis
that around 70% of all societies are collectivistic (i.e., loyalties of a man to a
gathering surpass the privileges of the individual) instead of individualistic (i.e., the
privileges of the individual supersede those of the gathering). With independence,
significance is put on singular data sources, rights and rewards (Andrews, 1999, p.
476). In many societies, wellbeing choices are not made by an individual but rather
by a gathering: family, group or potentially society. Associated pharmaceutical or

nursing program has helped me become a great novice nurse. From my sophomore
to senior year, I have completed numerous assignments that were created to prepare
me for the nursing field. Nine program outcomes were specifically created to guide
me through the nursing program. I have compiled, examined, and reflected on each
of these nine outcomes below and identified if they have prepared me for my nursing

I also believe that MacMurray s nursing program has helped me achieve this

completed for NURS 401. This assignment encouraged me to research a current topic,

Solving Cases with Forensic DNA Analysis
Forensic DNA analysis is still a relatively new method that has been used to solve
cases such as crimes and paternity tests. This method of forensic evaluation is
examined by using genetic material, DNA, an acronym for deoxyribonucleic acid.
Although each individual s DNA differs from someone else s, with the exception of
identical twins, around 99.9% of DNAis the same in each person ( The FBI DNA
Laboratory ). Therefore, in order to identify the genetic profile of the individual
being analyzed, scientists focus on the remaining 0.1% of DNA that differentiates
one person from another ( The FBI DNA Laboratory ).
History of Forensic DNA Analysis: DNA fingerprinting was introduced around
1986 to identify an alleged suspect in a rape murder case (Panneerchelvam and
Norazmi 22). Since then, using forensic DNA analysis has become more prevalent
and has helped to exonerate many innocent suspects involved in such cases. Despite
being used in only one percent of criminal cases, DNA tests have helped to acquit
over 25 percent of wrongfully accused suspects ( Can DNA Demand a Verdict?
/Baird, Neufeld, and Scheck, 34). As of 2008, over 120 countries use some sort of
forensic DNA analysis in cases like these ( INTERPOL Global DNA Profiling ).
Usage:
In order to analyze DNA, scientists require a sample of the individual being tested,
such as blood, semen, or hair, before they can create a genetic profile of the person
(Petricevic 1). Scientists can then analyze those samples using a

Joseph Campbell Iron man Essay
11 February 2014
The Fate of a Hero: Ironman The Modern Hero Stories of heroes have been told,
written, and passed down since the beginning of time; each unique but following a
tight pattern. Joseph Campbell was the first to notice this and wrote a book called
The Hero With A Thousand Faces. Campbell wrote about the similarities of every hero
s journey while breaking it down into three steps: Departure, Initiation, and Return.
In his book, Campbell compares many old Greek myths and heroic tales from
centuries ago, and although he focuses on ancient myths, modern hero stories follow
Campbell s stages just as closely. Ironman is a prime example of a modern story that
follows Campbell s pattern. Tony Stark (Ironman) is an eccentric... Show more

He does not know the danger that surrounds his situation, and has no clue what
could happen when he tries to flee. The world beyond the prison camp is unsure
for Tony; however he decides to cross the threshold anyways. Now that the hero
has crossed the first threshold he enters what Campbell labels as the belly of the
whale. Campbell referring to this step, This popular motif gives emphasis to the
lesson that the passage of the threshold is a form of self annihilation. Its
resemblance to the adventure of the Symplegades is obvious. But here, instead of
passing outward, beyond the confines of the visible world, the hero goes inward, to
be born again. Tony experiences a deep realization when he enters the belly of the
whale. His lifestyle and morals change when he learns that Middle Eastern towns
are being destroyed by terrorists that are using weapons he designed. With a newly
designed suit, Tony works to fix his past mistakes and globalize peace. Just as
Campbell described Tony is born again through a form of self annihilation. After
traversing through the belly of the whale the hero starts the next step in his journey
known as the road of trials. The hero
The Leaders Of Isis And Their Wicked And Vicious
Slaughter...
Many Christians live in fear of ISIS especially because of their wicked and vicious
slaughter of Christians. But should we live in fear of ungodly organization? When
Christians demonstrate fear of Isis what hope are we giving to the world? How
many of you believe that the leaders of ISIS can be saved? How many of you pray
for the salvation of the leaders of this ruthless organization? The life of the apostle
Paul first known as Saul, exemplifies why Christians should forgive ISIS for their
wicked acts and pray daily for their conversion.
Lets look back at Acts 7 beginning in verse 58 (set the context) When they had
driven him out of the city, they began stoning him; and the witnesses laid aside their
robes at the feet of a young man ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We first met Saul in chapter 7:58 as the one at whose feet the robes of those who
stoned Stephen were laid. Acts 8:1, he consented to Stephen s death. 8:3, he began
to destroy the church by entering the homes of the believers, and dragging off men
and women to prison. Saul greatly persecuted the early church and caused the
believers to be scattered. We would see in 9:1 Saul was breathing threats and murder
against the Lord s disciples. Chapter 9:1 2 he sought warrants from the Jewish
authorities to arrest and bring back to Jerusalem anyone who is following Jesus. We
learn more about Saul in his personal testimony. In 26:9, He did many things
hostile to the name of Jesus. Acts 26:10, he voted for the execution of believers.
Verse 11, he punished the believers in their synagogues and forced them to
blaspheme the Lord. It s obvious that Saul hated Jesus and all who followed Him as
hated the gospel. He was a murderer and zealous for the law but on the path to hell
because he did not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Saul believed that
his actions met the God s approval because he faithfully maintained the beliefs of the
Jewish religion. However, in this text we will see the transformation of his life and
his name would later change to Paul. After Jesus he would become the greatest
theologian, missionary, teacher and pastor and God would use him to start churches
all over the world. He would
I Had Never Get Out Of Your Head
You know that experience you have that you can really never get out of your head?
It is not a good memory, one you will probably not tell your mother about until you
are well in your forties? I had one of those during my second week of college. My
group of friends that experienced this night with me included my roommate Dionia,
Reggie, Reginald, and Fredrek. I met Reggie through Dionia, they are both from
Orangeburg, SC and attended the same high school. Reginald is Reggie s
roommate which is how I met Reginald, and Fredrek is Reginald s friend. Fredrek,
Reginald and I all happen to be from the same town so we all clicked instantly. The
second week of school we were all ready to go out and had some fun, that night we
decided to meet up in my dorm so we could go out together. Until that night on
Franklin Boulevard I had never felt so scared and helpless in my life.
I was never a person to go out and party in my hometown, but being 18 and in college
I decided I would branch out a little but not to where I would be uncomfortable.
Coming to Greensboro I knew there were parts of the city that were prone to
violence, being new to the city I did not know where those areas were just yet. We
decided earlier in the week that we were going to go out that Saturday, Fredrek
started looking on Snapchat for addresses or any flyers for parties that we could go
to. He found two, one was downtown at a club and the other was a house party. The
night we were going out we took an Uber while
Prodigal Son Vs Jesus
Annette Simmons once said, If you wish to influence and individual or a group to
embrace a particular value in their daily lives, tell them a compelling story. The book
Great Expectations by Charles Dickens and the biblical Parable of the Prodigal Son
hold some similarities. They do, however, hold distinct differences. The differences
between Great Expectationsand the Parable of the Prodigal Son can be traced back to
the purpose of the authors. The differences are evident though the authors purpose,
the plot, and the main characters in both works. The main reason that Great
Expectations and the Parable of the Prodigal Son are so different, is the intent of the
original authors. Dickens wrote Great Expectations as a social commentary.... Show

In the beginning of Great Expectations seven year old Pip meets an escaped
convict in the graveyard one night. The convict is recaptured, but it remains
something Pip dwells on for the rest of his life. Several years later an elderly
woman named Miss Havisham and her adopted daughter Estella invite Pip to visit.
Estella berates Pip for being common. Following this encounter, Pip is unhappy
with his life until he is told some unnamed benefactor has given Pip a fortune. Pip
is whisked away to London where he wastes his money and finds himself in debt.
In the parable, the story begins with the son receiving his inheritance from his
father. The son then leaves home for a distant country. In this foreign country, he
squandered his inheritance on a life of dissipation (Luke 15:13). Pip lives in
London for several years until he discovers his benefactor is the convict he met in
the graveyard. Pip tries to helps the convict, Magwitch, escape from the police, but
Magwitch is captured. As a result, Pip looses his fortune. In the parable the son
simply runs out of money just as a famine strikes the land. He tries to make a living
taking care of the swine. In the book Pip returns home briefly to make amends with
Joe and Joe s wife Biddy, then returns to London to make an honest living with his
friend Herbert. The son in the parable decides to return home in hopes that his
father will hire him as a worker. His father instead greets him with open arms and
declares this son of mine was dead, and has come to life again; he was lost, and has
been found (Luke 15:24). Pip in Great Expectations and the son in the Parable of
the Prodigal Son may appear to be similar, but they are still different. Pip begins the
story with low self esteem due to his harsh

Stem cell research encompasses a wide range of scientific, ethical, and societal issues, making it necessary for the writer to navigate through a vast pool of information and perspectives. One of the primary challenges lies in understanding the intricate scientific concepts associated with stem cells. This includes grasping the various types of stem cells, their potential applications, and the ongoing research in the field. The writer must be well-versed in biology, genetics, and medical terminology to present accurate and insightful information. Furthermore, addressing the ethical considerations surrounding stem cell research adds another layer of complexity. The ethical debate often involves conflicting viewpoints, requiring the writer to carefully analyze and present different perspectives while maintaining a balanced and objective tone. Negotiating the fine line between scientific advancement and moral concerns demands a nuanced approach. In addition to scientific and ethical complexities, the writer must consider the ever-evolving nature of stem cell research. Staying abreast of the latest developments and breakthroughs in the field is crucial to provide readers with up-to-date and relevant information. This requires continuous research and a willingness to adapt the essay to incorporate new findings. Crafting a coherent and well-structured essay on stem cell research also necessitates effective communication skills. • 2. Bilbo Baggins; Zero to Hero How does one define a hero? By classic definition, a hero is a man of great strength, valor and swordsmanship who fights evil even in the face of insurmountable odds to defend the lives of the innocent and those that can t protect themselves. Indeed it is these very attributes which separate heroes from the common man. However, the word herotakes an entirely different connotation in J.R.R. Tolkien s epic tale The Hobbit, in which the hero of the story is a furry footed, complacent, hole dwelling hobbit named Bilbo Baggins. At first glance, Bilbo is very much the un hero and more like an everyday average person than a hero. Unlike the classic definition of a hero, Bilbo s strength is not measured by the might of his sword (though... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While walking down the tunnel towards the dragon, Bilbo hears the great beast snoring. Going on from there was the bravest thing he ever did. The tremendous things that happened afterwards were as nothing compared to it. He fought the real battle in the tunnel alone, before he ever saw the vast danger that lay in wait. (214) It is because of Bilbo s courage that he is able to conquer the greatest fear of all the unknown. Bilbo s willingness to persevere given the choice between certain doom and ending his journey and turning around is what separates Bilbo Baggins from the common man and is what defines him as a true hero. Loyalty is Bilbo s greatest strength and the linchpin of his heroism. His un yielding commitment to his friends and staunch sense of selflessness is what elevates Bilbo to a level purely reserved for heroes. This act of heroism is manifested throughout the book. From his rescuing of the dwarves from the savage spiders of Mirkwood, to his aid and abetment in rescuing the dwarves from an eternal imprisonment in the cave of the Wood Elves, Bilbo remains loyal to his friends. However, Bilbo s greatest test of loyalty is his handing over of the Arkenstone to Bard on the eve of the Battle of Five Armies.

  • 4. Dido In The Aeneid Dido had qualities just like Aeneas in The Aeneid . She is a leader and Aeneas who is the founder of Troy looks up to Dido a woman because of the amount of power she has. Dido used her leadership skills by telling Aeneas about her accomplishments and everything that she had been through with running from her brother who tried to kill her for power. This goes back to the article Origins of the Family, Private Property, and the State by Frederick Engels, that a woman s role is to bear child and to maintain her household duties but with Didoin The Aeneidshe was in a male position of ruling a city and broke out of that stigma. Dido is one of the examples that men will never be satisfied that women can be leaders and how the shift of power between men and women affects men in Rome. In the article Seduction and the ruses of power by Hartman, during the 19th century slaves were seen as objects or property to their masters. Hartman states the utter negation of the captive s will required to secure absolute submission was identified as willful submission to the master in the topsy turvy scenario of onerous passions. Slaves were considered to always willing to have sex and also, they had no power over their own bodies. A slave s seduction to the owner was seen as her fault. A woman s body is seen as a powerful mechanism for men to dominate but in reality, slaves are strong in the sense that they dominate the dominator with the use of their bodies in which Hartman discuss in her text. Females are sexualized, and their seduction is conceived as a strength in
  • 5. The Exploration And Development Of Coal Seam Gas The exploration and development of coal seam gas (CSG) have important strategic significance. On one hand, it improves energy structure and increases energy resources. On the other hand, the CSG indirectly protects the global environment by using the clean energy. Although the CSG has so many benefits, CSG extraction is still an industry of high input, high risk and high technology needing under the current conditions. In order to reduce its potential risk, it is essential to operate the project evaluation by using economic assessment before the CSG extraction. Actually, there are four popular economic evaluation techniques in economic assessment system, they are Benefit Cost Analysis (BCA), Cost Effectiveness Analysis (CEA), Cost Utility... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the process of BCA, all benefits and costs should be quantified and monetised if feasible and material (Florio et.al 2007). This result is referred to as the Net Present Value(NPV) (Shrives et.al 2001). When the CSG managers choose the BCA, they can achieve obvious benefits from four aspects. At first, the BCA is focused on a specific community such as NSW and QLD that avoid other major negative impacts. Secondly, the development of each aspects is well considered by the BCA. For instance, the BCA usually assesses the changeable benefits and costs over time (Dickinson et.al 2015). Thirdly, the BCA is not only as a part of economic assessment but also can let decision makers consider trade offs which is helpful for assessment outcomes. At last, the BCA is comprehensive that includes all economic, social and environmental impacts. However, this key feature of the BCA brings decision makers many uncertainties. For example, realistically, evaluation of some impacts is partly uncertain and subjective. Therefore, the positive NPV does always show the CSG projects are concerned by the public interest (Chen et.al 2013). Meanwhile, the BCA just pays attention on the economic benefits and costs, like the climate change and biodiversity such natural changes are often ignored. For example, when environmental and social issues are

For your current organisation (or one that you are familiar with), describe the policies and procedures that relate to customer service. Why is it important to follow these policies and procedures? One of the hotel policies for Premier Inn is that the guests must check out of their room before 11am and checking in is at 2pm. That gives housekeeping time to clean and prepare the rooms for the following guests. However it is also hotel policy to never turn a guest away no matter what time they leave or arrive. So the procedure is that if the guest arrives too early we first check in to see if there are any clean and ready that they can be checked into. If there are then the guest can be asked to complete the relevant forms and settle the payment then go to the prepared room. If the room is not ready then the guest will be invited to complete their paper work and then wait in the food court next door and then the receptionist will call them when a room is ready. It is important to follow the procedures because that is how a business upholds its standards. Failure to follow the procedures might lead to different levels of service that will cause confusion to the guests and staff alike. Dissatisfied guests are a result of differences between the styles of service provided by various members of the same team in a company. 4. Complete the table below by

  • 8. The United States Geological Survey on Sinkholes The United States Geological Survey (USGS, n.d.) defines a sinkhole as an area of ground that has no natural external surface drainage when it rains, all of the water stays inside the sinkhole and typically drains into the subsurface. Sinkholes vary in size considerably: from a few feet in diameter and one foot of depth, to hundreds of acres wide and more than 100 feet deep, (USGS, n.d.). Some sinkholes form naturally over time, but human intervention such as construction and development projects have been causing the rapid development of sinkholes in the state of Florida. These large scale projects can have disastrous effects on the economy and environment, as well as public safety. Sinkholes are especially problematic when they occur suddenly, without warning, in urban areas (USGS, n.d.). Florida is especially prone to sinkholes because of its natural geology. According to Tihansky (n.d.), Sinkholes are a common, naturally occurring geologic feature and one of the predominant landforms in Florida. Florida sits atop a massive, relatively insoluble carbonate platform that is submerged beneath the surface (Mosher, n.d., Learn About Sinkholes ). The carbonate layer is susceptible to dissolution by circulating ground water, which is why sinkholes are especially common throughout the state (Tihansky, n.d., p. 121). The thickness of the carbonate platform varies throughout the peninsula. Carbonates also promote the karst geomorphology that underlies Florida s
  • 9. The Need to Reform or Abolish The Electoral College Essay The Electoral College is the United States archaic process of electing presidents. It was established in the Constitution as a compromise between election by Congress and election by popular vote. Each state is given a specific number of electors based on the number of its U.S. Representatives and Senators (NARA). This allows for over representation of small states and under representation of large states, while the winner takes all format followed by most states could result in a candidate winning the popular vote but losing the election(NARA). This has actually happened on four separate occasions, leaving four black marks on the nation s history (NARA). Despite these mishaps and constant calls for reform, the faulty system remains in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While this has never changed the outcome of an election, the possibility is still there, and that alone should be cause enough for one to advocate reform (Fairvote.org). Twenty four states, including Indiana, do not legally require electors to vote for a specific candidate (NARA). In these states, electors can essentially vote for whoever they want, and face no charges. Electors in the remaining twenty six states and Washington, D.C. are bound by state law or pledges to vote for a specific candidate (NARA). However, the penalties in these states are usually trivial, and rarely enforced (Fairvote.org). One or several rogue electors could easily disregard the popular opinion of the state, such as in Virginia during the 1836 election. Virginia s popular vote saw Martin Van Buren and running mate Richard Mentor Johnson on top of the polls. However, Johnson wasn t particularly popular in southern states, as he had previously been in a relationship with a mulatto slave. As a result, the twenty three Virginia electors instead cast their vice presidential votes for William Smith, leaving Johnson with the most electoral votes but one shy of a majority. The vote then went to the Senate, where Johnson was finally elected as Vice President. The election came dangerously close to being soiled by the bigoted Virginia electors, but thankfully all was set right by the Senate under the provisions of

  • 11. Antigone In Sophocles Play Authors use characters in their writing for different purposes. Some characters are allowed realistic characteristics, while others are simply used to move the plot along. In Sophocles play, Antigone, the question of whether or not Antigone was a real character is a major point of discussion. Some students may argue Antigone is used as a mouthpiece. On the other hand, some argue she is portrayed as a realistic character. However, through his ability to portray Antigone as a real person, Sophoclesgave Antigone realistic characteristics rather than using her as a mouthpiece to advance the plot along. In the beginning of the play, Eteocles and Polyneices fought over the throne. As a result of their feud, they both died in a horrendous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Antigone was especially connected to her sister. The had the sisterly bond like any other sisters in the world. To fully gain an understanding of the fact, we need to see how Sophocles stated it in the play. In the prologue on line 68, Antigone tells her sister, You have yourself to consider, after all. Antigone portrayed sarcasm towards her sister. Anyone who has siblings have, at some point in their life, argue with their sibling through sarcasm. Antigone was trying to make Ismene feel terrible for not helping her commit the crime of burial. Most sibling rivalry ends with one sibling trying to make the other feel sorry for them. In the same way, Antigone, later on in the play, demands, You [Ismene] should not lessen my death by sharing it Ismene declares back with, What do I care for life when you are done (Scene 2, lines 138 139). In this example, Antigone did not want Ismene to risk her life for doing nothing. Any siblings would take a bullet to save each other. Then, Ismene explains to Antigone that she will not be able to live a day without Antigone. Anyone who loses their sibling would not want to live another day knowing they will never see them again. Therefore, Antigone and Ismene try to protect each other as would any
  • 12. The Case Of Negligent Misstatement From considering all of the facts of Giant Plc. Vs. Hatchet Co, it is evident that we are faced with the problem of negligent misstatement. It could be argued that this case could be somewhat in relation to tort of deceit. However, this only applies when someone intentionally lies when making a statement, and from looking at the facts of this case there is no evidence of this so the problem has to be based on negligent misstatement. The underlying problem of this case is that the audit accounts made by the defendants for the Giant Plc were not accurate, which resulted in the share value of the company to fall drastically and shareholders losing their investments. Thus Hatchet Co are faced with defending themselves in a case of negligent misstatement. Both Giant Plc and its shareholders, the claimants for this particular case, faced economic loss and want the necessary damages to counteract this. Negligent misstatement is when a false statement of fact is made honestly but carelessly (REFERENCE). When it comes to this area of law, courts do not like to award duty of care when there is pure economic loss. This was evident in the case of Candler Vs. Crane (1951) where they held, in reference to Lord Atkin s neighbour principle (Donoghue Vs. Stevenson, 1932), that there are limited factors that permit duty of care and that it must meet two requirements of there being: reasonable foresight of harm and a relationship of proximity. The court also realised here, that if there
  • 13. Realism Vs Liberalism A theory of international relations is a set of the ideas that explains how the international system works and how it s operated. Unlike an ideology, a theory of international relations would at least be in principle, backed up with a large amount of concrete evidence. The two major theories of international relationswould be realism and liberalism. Liberalism and realism are two of the most important theories in the field of International Relations. The liberals believe that the international institution plays a key role in the cooperation among all states. Even with the correct international, and with increasing interdependence which also includes the economic and the cultural exchange all states have a large opportunity to reduce all conflict that is happening at the time. Other Liberals emphasize democracy and civil liberties. And that liberalism is the political doctrine that takes protecting and enhancing the freedom of the individual to be the central problem of politics. It s also a political philosophy or worldview founded on ideas of Liberty and equality, depending on their understanding of these principles, but generally they support ideas and programs such as freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of religion, free markets, and civil rights. Religion Vs English Civil War Essay One similarity between the English Civil War and The French Wars of Religion was that both events were trying to incite change to government through politically ambitious men.The English Civil War was an ongoing conflict between the royalists and parliamentarians over the setup of the government. Cromwell, a member of the parliament, defeated and executed the King Charles I with his New Model Army and created the Commonwealth, a republic that was really run as a military dictatorship under his power. After having a long lasting power struggle that didn t establish a proper relationship between the king and parliament, England needed a radical change of government that would stop the cycle. The English government didn t establish a proper relationship between the king and the parliament, dating back to 1215 when the Magna Carta was signed: It limited the monarch s power, but didn t establish how much representation the parliament and king got in government. Parliament realized that they needed to strengthen their power by doing away with the monarch. In the French Wars of Religion, the Estates General didn t really meet and didn t have much representation in government. Unlike the English, the idea of a body ruling was too radical, and the three aristocratic families sought to increase power by becoming new monarchs. They tried to gain power by becoming king or hoping that a weak monarch would allow them to

Currently we are discussing buying out a company that manufactures boats. This purchase would include the company name, and all the necessary materials to mold a boat. My Dad currently wholesales cars and retails boats. The idea with this company would be to manufacture the boats, as well as retail them. After getting the boats out in the market we would start to wholesale the boats to other retailers across the United States. Pricing The Product Application When opening a business that will manufacture boats and then retail them pricing is important especially when you get into wholesaling to other retailers. As seller s we want to make enough revenue to cover cost and make a profit. But when customers are looking to purchase a boat we want their perceived benefits to be greater than price to create more value. A customer that buys a boat gives the seller money in exchange for a boat. Or they customer trades in a boat plus cash in exchange for a boat. If sellers and customer s views have high dissonance then it most likely won t lead to a purchase on the customer s part. Based on experience in the boat industry and with the car industry the odds that someone goes into a retailer to purchase a boat or vehicle at full price is very low. The textbook shows the price equation as, price= list price incentives and allowances + extra fees. When pricing you want to take into consideration what incentives and allowances you want to include and make sure your list price is high enough that when you deduct incentives and allowance you are still making a profit. As the textbook states, the amount paid is not always the same as the list, or quoted, price because discounts, allowances and extra fees (pg 318). And so did Donny. Donny, who loved bowling. The reason why the director placed this line in the eulogy is to show how Walter considered this an opportunity to a closure of years and years wasted in memories. The Coen Brothers put a vivid, living proof of Walter being stuck in the past on screen via his costume throughout the movie with his trademark safari vest, amber lens aviator sunglasses and the military dog tag that he always kept close in the film. Apart from the genuine friendship between the Dude, Walter and Donny, the eulogy dialogue also implies another layer of meaning from the movie concerning generation loss, changes and the cycle of life. Although the three main characters are bound together by bowling but Donny is the only one we ever do see bowl, in fact, we only seem to notice his existence at the bowling alley but his bowling results never did come to the Dude nor Walter s notice. While it takes place only 37 years after the original release of the film, and does not hold any extreme differences to our reality, there are numerous aspects of this not so far off version of our world that remains unsettling to the viewer. The ways in which the world within the film mirror aspects of Sigmund Freud s understanding of the uncanny can be seen in: the representation of the double through the confrontation between Deckard and the replicant, Rachael; the focus on eyes as a representation of castration anxiety; and Freud s commentary... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Freud acknowledges the connection between eyes and the castration complex through the studies of dreams, phantasies and myths which teaches that, a morbid anxiety connected with the eyes and going blind is often enough a substitute for the dread of castration (7). Although, Freud goes on to say that the fears of going blind and the fears of castration may simply stem from a fear of losing such a vital organ; which is represented in the replicants initial fear as they learn that what they have believed to have seen was all an allusion. The replicants possession of memories acts as a way to artificially orchestrate the belief that they are human beings since they do not have a sense of their lifespan or of their origination. Just as Freud points out the feeling of something uncanny in the story of the Sand Man, which is attached to the idea of being robbed of one s eyes (7), the same feeling of being robbed of one s sight can be projected on to the robbing of Rachael s memories since the replicants hold on to belief that their memories are something they have seen. To the replicants, the heimlich, the familiar, becomes the unheimlich, the unfamiliar. The artificiality of the eyes of replicants is connected to the artificiality of the memories within replicants. The viewer is able to relate to this feeling as they can relate to the aspect of uncanniness in repetition; the experience of dГ©jГ vu. When one experiences dГ©jГ vu, it creates the sense that you have seen or done something before, that you are repeating a moment from your memories, but instead you realize in a moment of clarity that what you are seeing is artificial which disturbs us as it causes the unfamiliar to take on a sense of

The iconic signs symbolises the visual sign while the indexical sign is written or spoken signs (1997: 20). Ferdinand De Saussure, on the other hand, determined a sign as including a signifier and a signified. Both of them function together and cannot be detached. The former is the form of a sign, such as a word, photo, image, or an object. The latter is the conception that the signifier tries to let the interpreters decode (Hall 1997: 31). Saussure further argued that signs have no fixed meanings and such meanings can change. Cultural codes are not universally fixed meanings and words can change meanings both within

Hollomon Jaffe equation H=T(c+logвЃЎt ) is widely used to predict hardness with different tempering temperature and tempering time. T is the tempering temperature, t is the tempering time and c is the constant for the specific steel. The physical explanation of c constant was not clear. In this paper, the hardness and c/a ratio of tempered martensite for AISI 4140 were measured by X Ray Diffraction and Rietveld refinement. The result reveals that the c/a ratio decreases instantly within the first 60s tempering time. After analysis based on the experiment results and derivation of Hollomon Jaffe equation, c, the parameter in Hollomon Jaffe equation, is found to stand for the slope of carbon hardness curve. Key words: Tempering, martensite, X ray diffraction, Hollomon Jaffe equation 1. Introduction All steels that are hardened are subjected to a subcritical heat treatment referred to as tempering . Tempering improves the toughness of as quenched martensite (body center tetragonal) but lowers strength and hardness 1, . As the health care market demands change, so does the managed health care plans. These ever changing plans are crucial for the survival of managed health care plans and companies (Kongstvedt, 2001). Change is inevitable when it is a faltering system; such as health care and insurance, which means in the health care industry there is nothing constant in the contemporary managed care systems. When speaking of managed health care, some find it to be an institution set forth as a response to the consistently rising health care costs, that some viewed as detrimental to the United States economy as a whole. Others viewed managed care as a documented response to health care quality problems that have long been ignored. That the problems managed health care would specifically help rectify patterns of over and underuse, misuse, and any geographic variation in the medical services provided to citizens (Kongstvedt, 2001). Both of these ideals had a hand in the wide spread adoption of managed health care in the United States, they do not define the foundational and personal changes that needed to occur in order to accommodate such a large change. However, following the introduction of the health maintenance organizations or HMO s there has been an over flow of managed care programs and products being created in the United States.

This led to my questioning: what other forms of energy could the United States be pursuing to increase its production of electricity? In an effort to research different form of energy and their benefits and detriments, I read two articles: A Letter to the Editor by David Rockwood and Why Uranium is the New Green by William Sweet. In his letter, David Rockwood, a professional engineer, discusses the several inaccuracies and possible ramifications of wind poweras a main source of electricity. Rockwood claims that wind power is unreliable because of flaws in its system and design, not to mention the detrimental environmental impact. Similarly, in his article William Sweet, a college graduate, talks about different ways to impose some kind of carbon regulation. Sweet compares nuclear and wind power to coalburning power, remarking that nuclear and wind power technologies can make an immediate beneficial difference on greenhouse gas emissions. Despite the fact that Rockwood goes in depth on only wind power while Sweet talks about multiple sources of power, both of the articles made me think that the United States should pursue some other form of energy to increase its production of electricity.

Cadbury India manages to practice this through five factories, located in Thane, Pune, Induri and Malanpur in West India, and Baddi in North India. Cocoa, being a major raw material as discussed, is not only imported but also procured mainly from local plantations in South India, in the states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The company, after manufacturing many of its mouthwatering products exports them in bulk to Sri Lanka, Dubai, the US and the Maldives. The positive outcome of this is that Cadbury India does not have to be involved in third party manufacturing. Confusion The brand is well known to many around the
  • 34. The Future Of The American City Essay The city is a vital, breathing, and often vibrant life force to its metropolitan area, region, state, and country. Cities, within the United States function typically as the jobs, cultural, and educational centers of their region. They tend to be more diverse than their surrounding communities, and they often face sets of problems that the suburbs and rural areas do not deal with. Some of the main issues that will face and shape cities over the next ten years include gentrification, environmental sustainability, and immigration. The way in which each of these issues is addressed will greatly impact the future of the American city. One of the most important concepts to understand about cities and neighborhoods is that they are ever changing. Economics and demographic trends tend to shift dramatically over the decades. In coastal cities, such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, and Washington, DC, as well as many Sunbelt cities this has led to the rapid gentrification of poor urban communities. Other cities throughout the nation s interior also experience gentrification, but typically at a slower rate. While many argue that gentrification is detrimental, as it often displaces residences who live in the upcoming communities, due to rising rents and house prices, the reality is much less clear cut. On one hand residents may unfortunately be displaced, but on the other hand much needed improvements often make their way to the neighborhood. In the next ten years, I believe

Explain the main factors that influence the rate of economic growth Economic growth will be different in M.E.D.Cs than it will be in L.E.D.Cs. The reason for this is that M.E.D.Cs are already developed and vast improvement may not be possible but in L.E.D.Cs they have a long way to catch up so it is easier for them to expand vastly. Economies like China and India have potential for vast economic growth because of a huge population. If these countries got their act together then they would be the world leaders. These two countries alone account for 40% of the worlds population. Land Different countries possess different amounts of land, it is defined as all natural resources not just land itself. Increases in the labour force can result from three factors Changes in Demography If more young people enter the workforce and then leave it, the size of the workforce will increase. Many countries will experience falls in the number of young people entering the workforce over the next few years due to a fall in the birth rate in the late 70s and 80s. Increases in participation rates Most men who wish to work are in the labour force. However there is a considerable amount of women who could be brought into the labour force if the employment opportunities were present. Immigration This is an easy way of increasing the labour force. It is also good if the company or firm wants cheap labour as well because a lot of foreigners will work for a lot cheaper than what the British workers would work for. The workers however must be sufficiently educated to cope with the demands of the existing stock of capital, be flexible and need to be able to contribute to change. Capital The stock of capital needs to increase over time if economic growth is to be sustained. This means that there has to be sustained investment in the economy. This though does not always cause high growth because some investment is not growth related e.g. investment in a new hospital is unlikely to create much wealth in the future.

Summary The realization that I was unequivocally now a graduate student occured to me when I was sitting across from the counselor that I was interviewing for this project. The feelings I experienced beforehand were both excitement and anxiety. I felt nervous about being a guest at a high school and interviewing a seasoned counselor. However, I was thrilled about learning from a veteran in the field and having the freedom to ask the questions that I wanted to know. The School Counselor that I interviewed was Ben Fraga of Iowa City High School. Similar to me, Fraga had received his College degree in psychology before pursuing a career in School Counseling. He had received his degree from the University of Iowa (near his hometown) before traveling to Arizona State for a Masters degree in School Counseling. After graduating and completing his internship, he applied to many school counseling positions in the midwest region. He ended up receiving a position at Lane Tech High School near chicago (close to where I grew up). Fraga spent nine years as a school counselor at Lane Tech before getting a position at City High and moving back to where he grew up in Iowa city. Ben has now been a School Counselor for fourteen years. For the first five years of his tenure as a counselor Ben was able to manage being a school counselor in addition to being a coach for high school baseball. Ben ultimately retired as a coach as he began establishing a family. The City High Professional

This method of forensic evaluation is examined by using genetic material, DNA, an acronym for deoxyribonucleic acid. Although each individual s DNA differs from someone else s, with the exception of identical twins, around 99.9% of DNAis the same in each person ( The FBI DNA Laboratory ). Therefore, in order to identify the genetic profile of the individual being analyzed, scientists focus on the remaining 0.1% of DNA that differentiates one person from another ( The FBI DNA Laboratory ). History of Forensic DNA Analysis: DNA fingerprinting was introduced around 1986 to identify an alleged suspect in a rape murder case (Panneerchelvam and Norazmi 22). Since then, using forensic DNA analysis has become more prevalent and has helped to exonerate many innocent suspects involved in such cases. Despite being used in only one percent of criminal cases, DNA tests have helped to acquit over 25 percent of wrongfully accused suspects ( Can DNA Demand a Verdict? /Baird, Neufeld, and Scheck, 34). As of 2008, over 120 countries use some sort of forensic DNA analysis in cases like these ( INTERPOL Global DNA Profiling ). Usage: In order to analyze DNA, scientists require a sample of the individual being tested, such as blood, semen, or hair, before they can create a genetic profile of the person (Petricevic 1). Scientists can then analyze those samples using a

Campbell wrote about the similarities of every hero s journey while breaking it down into three steps: Departure, Initiation, and Return. Acts 8:1, he consented to Stephen s death. 8:3, he began to destroy the church by entering the homes of the believers, and dragging off men and women to prison. Saul greatly persecuted the early church and caused the believers to be scattered. We would see in 9:1 Saul was breathing threats and murder against the Lord s disciples. Chapter 9:1 2 he sought warrants from the Jewish authorities to arrest and bring back to Jerusalem anyone who is following Jesus. We learn more about Saul in his personal testimony. In 26:9, He did many things hostile to the name of Jesus. Acts 26:10, he voted for the execution of believers. Verse 11, he punished the believers in their synagogues and forced them to blaspheme the Lord. It s obvious that Saul hated Jesus and all who followed Him as hated the gospel. He was a murderer and zealous for the law but on the path to hell because he did not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Saul believed that his actions met the God s approval because he faithfully maintained the beliefs of the Jewish religion.
