To Kill A Mockingbird Atticus Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of Atticus Finch in "To Kill a Mockingbird" can be quite
challenging due to the multifaceted nature of the character and the profound themes explored in
Harper Lee's novel. Atticus is a complex figure, embodying various virtues and grappling with
the pervasive racial prejudices of his time. As the moral compass of the story, dissecting his
beliefs, actions, and impact on the narrative requires a nuanced understanding.
Delving into Atticus's character demands a meticulous analysis of his role as a father, a lawyer,
and a symbol of moral integrity. One must navigate through the layers of his interactions with
the townspeople, his approach to parenting, and his unwavering commitment to justice. The
essay should unravel how Atticus's principles are both a source of inspiration and a point of
contention within the narrative, presenting a challenge to the writer to balance admiration and
critique.
Moreover, the social and historical context of the novel adds an extra layer of complexity to the
essay. Discussing Atticus requires exploring the racial tensions and injustices prevalent in
Maycomb, weaving them into the fabric of the character's beliefs and actions. Crafting a
comprehensive analysis necessitates a deep exploration of the racial dynamics depicted in the
novel, as well as an understanding of the impact of Atticus's legal endeavors on the broader
societal narrative.
To encapsulate the essence of Atticus Finch in an essay is a formidable task, requiring a careful
examination of literary elements, character development, and the broader societal implications
within "To Kill a Mockingbird." It demands an analytical approach, critical thinking, and the
ability to synthesize various aspects into a coherent and compelling argument.
In the realm of academic support, platforms like HelpWriting.net provide assistance in tackling
such challenging essay topics. If you find yourself grappling with the complexities of character
analysis or literary exploration, consider seeking support from expert writers who can guide you
through the intricacies of crafting a thoughtful and well-structured essay.

Exploration of Castles Essay
Exploration of Castles
A.D 450 saw the creation of castles. Romans were replaced by Anglo Saxon foes, and
these did leave behind a system of castles however these were for Motte and Bailey
castles built in the reign of Edward the confessor.
The Norman invasion of 1066 was one of the causes for castles to become an
important part of defence. After king Harold s defeat by William the conqueror,
William was concerned about how he would control the country with only a limited
number of troops facing a hostile environment. He did not have enough troops to
station them everywhere, so he used a very useful tactic that had worked in
Normandy previously. This was a simplified castle known as a ... Show more content

The pathways and ladders that allowed reach to important areas of the castle have
been removed or destroyed; and the enemy are at a disadvantage because they are
facing attack from a raised level.
As time progressed, the situation in England changed. The Normans were now in
control of England and there was little resistance from hostile sources, therefore a
concentration on the development of castles occurred.
Less time was needed for castles to be constructed quickly and therefore time could
be used to search for better materials for building. This meant that stone could be
used instead of wood, which was used previously. By 1100, the earth that had held
Motte and bailey castles had now settles, and was capable of sustaining much larger
weights. With the change to stone castles, fire was not a concern as it was when
Motte and baileys were in use.
Square keeps were used when the development of stone castles were quite young.
They were often built in the most important places, to show how powerful the
Normans were. Square keeps were good because of the immense thickness of the
walls. The walls in square keeps were often up to 5 metres thick, and 30 metres high.
This added to the strength of the castle because the walls could easily withstand
attacks from siege weapons such as magonels and trebuchets.

Results: The CONSORT flow diagram for study is shown in figure1. Patients who
finally analyzed were 42, 90 in group I and II respectively. Patients demographics
and stone criteria are displayed in table 1. Success rate was 90.5% (38/42) and
97.8% (88/90) in groups I and II respectively with statistically insignificant
difference (p = 0.3). Complete stone retrieval without fragmentation was achieved
in 35 patients (83.3%) in group I and 74 patients (82.2%) in group II. Stone
migrated proximally in 4 patients (9.5%) in group I and only 2 patients (2.2%) in
group II in whom procedure ended by ureteral stenting (table 2). Mucosal injury

Despite this fact that was noticed also in our study; we do not think it would result
in this great decrease for the need of post ureteroscopy stenting. We had no
significant difference between the two groups concerning minor intraoperative
complications. We noticed mucosal injury in 3 patients (7.1%) in emergency
group and 4 patients (4.4%) in delayed group. Hematuria also was observed in 2
patients (4.7%) in emergency group and 3 (3.3%) in delayed group. These results
were comparable to those reported by Sarica et al who found no significant
difference between the two groups in terms of intraoperative complications [7]. No
major complications such as perforation or avulsion were noticed in our study. This
was comparable to the results of Matani et al who reported serious complications in
0.7% of patients [6]. Nevertheless; we did not conduct a cost effective comparison.
We recommend conducting prospective studies on larger scale to confirm the
principle of emergency
Aboriginal People In Australia
Aboriginal people have lived in this land for approximately 60000 years , but there
are studies that suggests there could have been aboriginal people in Australia for up
to 120000 years. By the time the British arrived in Australia in 1788 there were
approximately 260 different aboriginal groups speaking around 500 different dialects.
Aboriginals lived a semi nomadic life, moving around an area according to the
seasons, and because of this, material things weren t too important for them, at least
not as much as family, relationships, community and spirituality. According to their
beliefs, land has a very important connection with their ancestors. Torres Strait

Houston Food Bank, knocking out hunger, one mouth at a time!
The Houston Food Bank (HFB), their mission, leading the fight against hunger their

Essay On Solitary Confinement
Some people say that solitary confinement is a necessary part of the judicial system.
They say that certain people need to be separated from the rest of the world, they say
that it is more humane than other punishments like death. They also say that since it
is hard to research the effects of solitary confinement that the research that has been
done is not credible. All of these are arguments for the use of solitary confinement but
the fact is that none of them are valid. Solitary is an inhumane way of punishing
people that doesn t help to fix them and the effects that it has on prisoners are
absolutely horrific. Solitary confinement should be banned from use entirely and
there are many reasons why. An argument for solitary confinement is that... Show

Solitary confinement can actually be worse for the mentally ill. Many of the inmates
that are subjected to solitary confinement have serious mental illness, and the
conditions of solitary confinement can exacerbate their symptoms or provoke
recurrence. (Metzner). Solitary confinement worsens the effects of mental illness
which can be very dangerous to the prisoner and the few people that they get any
human contact with. Solitary confinement is considered torture by the U.N. The
U.N. Convention Against Torture defines torture as any state sanctioned act by which
severe pain or suffering, whether physical or mental, is intentionally inflicted on a
person for information, punishment, intimidation, or for a reason based on
discrimination ( Solitary Confinement Facts. ) which solitary confinement clearly
falls under especially with people with mental illness. Solitary confinements is a
human rights violation which no one should be subjected to especially people with
mental illness. Sometimes prisoners are not treated properly, in fact roughly 60
percent of the inmates whose solitary cases were reviewed had serious
underdiagnosed or untreated mental illnesses. (Eilperin). Prisoners with mental
illnesses did not get treatment and this can be very dangerous to not only the prisoner
themselves but
Character Development In The Witch, And The Wardrobe
Character Change and Development in The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe,
Prince Caspian, and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, Prince Caspian, and The Voyage of the
Dawn Treader, is a trilogy by C.S. Lewis about young children and their adventures in
Narnia. Character change and development is a big aspect of these books and is the
main focus in the trilogy. This big aspect definitely adds its effect to these books with
their adventures in Narnia, transitioning them from youth to adulthood. Out of all the
characters, I find Edmund, Lucy, and Peter the ones that undergo these adventures of
maturity the most.
In The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, and Prince Caspian, we see character

Firstly, we can tell that she is more observant. For example, in The Lion, The Witch,
and the Wardrobe, Lucy is the first to notice and take interest in the Wardrobe, in
Prince Caspian, she is the first to see Aslan has come back, and in The Voyage of the
Dawn Treader, Lucy observes the painting and notices it is very narnian looking.
Furthermore, we see how brave she has gotten over the span of the series. In The
Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, and Prince Caspian, Lucy shows how brave
she is by taking out her dagger when wanting to join the war. It is not until we
watch The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, when we see Lucy actually going into
physical combat, that we know she is truly braver. Lastly, we take notice of Lucy s
character development, maturity wise. In The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe,
Lucy is an imaginative and naГЇve young girl who seems to have no flaws until The
Voyage of the Dawn Treader, when she starts envying her sister s beauty and not
praising her own. This character development shows that she is growing up, now that
she is more aware of the world and that not everything is innocent like it was is
before. Lucy definitely undergo some interesting character change and developments

Lady Horns Volleyball Team
A lot of responsibility is placed in a person s hands when they are chosen as the
team captain. You have to keep the rest of the teams heads up, and make sure
everyone is getting along on the court. It can be a struggle sometimes because the
rest of the team looks up to you, and respect you. A bunch of things can change how
the team thinks of you, whether it be what you say or how you act. My senior year,
I was team captain of the Lady Horns Volleyballteam, and it is a year to remember. I
will never forget that first gamewhere our coach called me over for the coin toss.
That moment I knew I had to be mature, and keep my head up because I was a

can do this, for the team, and for district. Over and in, over and in. I served and the
other team shanked it, I served again and again, and next thing you know, we are
up by seven. From serving and scoring so many points got the rest of the team
pumped, and we ended up winning that game. Even being the team captain I got sit
on the bench quite a bit, but it was all due to physical health issues. Even sitting on
the bench I could not help but to stand up every time we got a point. Our biggest
rivalry game of the season I didn t sit down once, I stood over at the end of the row
of chairs and cheered every single time we gained a point, and even when we lost a
point I would cheer the team to shake it off and to get the ball back. With all this
going on we ended up making Forestburg Volleyball history. Making it the farthest
the team has ever gotten in playoffs, the Regional Tournament. We sadly lost our
first game there, but when the rest of the team was down from making simple
mistakes, I kept my head up, and did my best to try and cheer them up, and that
was our toughest loss of the season. I am proud of my team though, we played
absolutely amazing this year, and made history! I can t wait to come back and watch

The American Red Cross is a Non Profit organization dedicated to serving members
of the American armed forces and their families, as well as supplying disaster relief

Once the Civil War had ended Barton set up the Missing Soldiers office that took
care of locating and identifying prisoners, missing men and dead men buried in
unmarked graves. The office received over 64,000 letters from families and friends
of missing soldiers, requesting Barton s help in finding them, Clara and her small
staff were able to locate over 23,000 men both dead and alive. As time progressed
Clara s devotion to her work soon took a toll on her health. Barton s doctor advised
her to head to Europe for some time of her own and time to get some well earned
rest. Nevertheless, while on her leisure trip Clara came across the International Red
Cross association, established in Geneva, Switzerland and was invited to assist in
the Franco Prussian War in 1870 1871. Consequently she decided to dig a little
deeper into the International Red Cross committee and came across a book titled A

The Ideal Of Heroism
The ideal of heroism in comics is displayed as that of normal citizens taking action
against the tides of evil in the world. The fantastical element of super strength,
uncanny agility, and web slinging exploits are paled in comparison to what lives
in the heart of a hero according to comics. Superheroes, or supervillains, are not
gods who come down from heaven to save or destroy us, though there are
exceptions, but are instead the human spirit uplifted to a point of power. In comics,
a hero is someone who does the right thing even if it is difficult, because they are, or
should, be the best of us. In Spider Man, heroism is the responsibility to make the
world a better place that motivated by the death of his uncle. Peter Parker wishes to
bring less heartache to the world; he wishes to prevent what happened to him from
happening to others. Peter Parker sacrifices nearly everything in his life in the
pursuit of protecting the city but that is not how it began. In the beginning of his
career being Spider Man was a means to an end to gain respect and pay the bills.
For Luke Cage a hero is his new identity built from the ashes of his former life.
Heroism is an occupation for Luke Cage to regain what was taken from him. But
does this monetary influence somehow dampen the heroics of Spider Man and
Luke Cage? And if they both are using their powers to make a better world it begs
the question; what does it mean to make the world a better place? What actions are

Tobacco In Kentucky History Essay
Role of Tobacco in Kentucky History
Tobacco existed in Kentucky long before the establishment of the commonwealth
Kentucky. Native Americans; such as the Shawnee, utilized tobacco medicinally and
ceremonially. European settlers brought it with them to central and, eventually,
western Kentucky, and until the late 1920s, Kentucky produced more tobacco than
any other state. Kentucky remained the largest burley and dark tobacco producer, and
ranked second, in total pounds produced, to North Carolina.
Aside from recreational and ceremonial use, some Native American tribes and
European Americans remedies involved tobacco, including pain easing salves,
fighting labor pains, using smoke for colic and asthma, and chewing to soothe
toothaches (Campbell). In 1964, the US Surgeon General released its first report
regarding smoking hazards. Later reports offered specific warnings about tobacco
use, including heart and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For two years, beginning in 1905, masked men known as Night Riders raided
communities around the state, most notably in Western Kentucky. They burned
buildings, and destroyed fields and machinery in order to coerce hesitant farmers into
joining them. They even beat and murdered non participating farmers to intimidate
others! The government finally dispersed the ATC s monopoly in 1911.
During World War I, prices rose with the growing popularity of blended cigarettes,
but dropped soon after. Kentucky burley farmers responded with an initially
successful Burley Tobacco Growers Co operative Association that was inactive by
1926. The Great Depression worsened the situation, costing some farmers their land!
Work programs and legislation provided some relief. The New Deal introduced the
federal tobacco program (strengthened through subsequent legislation), which
stabilized prices. Farmers raised yearly quotas in exchange for price supports

Detecting The Properties Of The Planets
These techniques that the astronomers used in detecting the properties of the planets
is more likely in detecting the properties of the exoplanet and other far object in the
solar system like the Pluto. Even if it is so far away, Astronomers were able to see
exoplanet by observing the host star with various method they used like transit
method, the one method they used to find the trappist 1. Observing distant star
requires the use of the space telescope like the Kepler telescope and spitzer telescope
and it is study by the use of electromagnetic radiation emit by the star and the planet.

If you know the planets orbital speed and orbital period, we can work out the orbital
radius. The mass of the planet can also determine by the wobble method. As the
planet orbit the sun, gravitational pull of the planet makes the star wobble, changing
the sun velocity. This change of velocity can be detected by astronomical
spectroscopy using redshift and blueshift. When the star wobble closer to us, the star
emits higher frequencies, longer wavelength, and showing bluer colour when
detecting to a spectroscope. When the star wobble away to us, the star emits lower
frequencies, shorter wavelength, and showing reddish colour in the spectroscope.
How the planet change the velocity of the sun determine the planet mass as
gravitational pull of the planet depends on the mass of the planet. This transit can
also give the astronomer the estimated linear diameter of the planet. When you know
the star size, you can work out the size ratio of the planet and the star when the planet
transit the star. As I mentioned before, knowing the linear diameter of the planet
gives the astronomers the volume of the planet and volume of the planet and its mass
determine the density of the planets.
Knowing the properties of the planets, the astronomers can tell the conditions of the
planets like their atmosphere, and surface environments especially to the exoplanets
because this is the only way,

for competitive advantages. Internal Differential Analysis For the firms that require
the competitive advantage in differential of product, the analysis is required to
identify opportunities in order to sustain in differential of products. Firstly, they must
take into concern about the customer s value created processes such as in what
section they are involved and evaluate the strategies of enhancing customer s value
such as product features, price, services, brand positioning and others. For a firm to
achieve superior differentiation, it must utilize the best mix of resources in creating
value for its customers. In order to prioritize its processes as sources of
differentiation, a company must determine what attributes of each process enhance
customer value. By studying the customers value activity in related processes, we
can understand the customer value and hence will come out a differential product
that may follow the degree of customers are willing to pay. We can either sell the
differential product in premium price and can sell it in reasonable price but premium
products in order to retain the market shareholder.

What Is The Pity For The Minotaur
Pity for the Minotaur There are many interesting Greek myths, but the Minotaur is
one of the most interesting to me. The Minotaur was an evil monster also known as
the beast . He had the head of a bull and the body of a man. He is the mutant child
of a human mother and a bull father. I ask myself, could life have been different for
the Minotaur? I believe the Minotaur suffered the wrath of Poseidon because of the
greed and hubris of his father, Minos. I pity the beast because Poseidon s spell that
was placed on Pasiphae was to punish Minos for not sacrificing his bull. The spell
was to make Pasiphae lust after a bull that Minos liked and did not want to sacrifice
and instead sacrificed a lesser bull. Pasiphae became pregnant by the... Show more

He is the reason of savagery and the order of chaos. We have all had times where we
feel savage. The beast was an untamable part of nature in the myth. To confront the
Minotaur in the dark labyrinth is the same as confronting our fears of the unknown,
the labyrinth was a chamber of death . All humans experience rage and aggression
that builds inside them and some have a hard time knowing how to control it
where, as the Minotaur only knows rage and aggression because that is all he has
been shown. The Minotaur was also half human and could have been capable of
good and rational thoughts had he been raised to do so. In most stories of someone
who has evil intentions, there is always a reason and it usually comes from
something in their past or how they were raised. I think the Minotaur could have
felt remorse, but in the Greek times his remorse would not have mattered. Greeks
believed human reason could do a lot, but the Minotaur was not all human and the
Greeks seen him as the enemy of reason . The story of the Minotaur could have
been different, and he could have been the hero instead of the fierce flesh eating
beast that everyone feared. He could have saved the young victims that were thrown
into the labyrinth and they could have fought back against King Minos. Maybe if he
defeated King Minos he could have been the king, now that would have been a story

Persuasive Essay On Phone While Driving
Was your call worth it? Distracted driving is a worldwide issue found in our
society today. Each and everyday innocent people are stripped of their lives due to
being distracted simply by a call or a text. This ad works to persuade viewers to not
only talk on the phone while driving but, to NEVER call someone while they are
driving. Every ad has a DIFFERENT goal, in this case, Indian agency Mudra
Group s goal was to put in perspective how dangerous it is to talk on your cellphone
while you are driving or call . The statement Don t talk while she drives , jumping
out of the cellphone followed by repulsing blood, strikes a spark in the viewer s
mind. It demonstrated to the reader that all it takes is ONE phone call to cause a
person to lose their life. Ads, like this one are are worth 1,001 words. Visually ads
have less than ten words but, in the minds of their viewers they are capable of
changing lives. Each person is impacted differently by the ads that they view each
and everyday. In order to have an effective Ad makers focus on ethos, pathos, and
logos; which are key points which work together to make an ad unforgettable.
When an ad exhibits those characteristics it allows a bond to be created between
the view and the creator. A bond in which its viewer can be convinced and cause
them to have an altered viewpoint than they had before, which will hopefully

The Significant Meaning Of Devices In The Play Fences By...
The play fences by August Wilson The title Fences has a significant meaning
between Troy and the following characters Rose, Corey, and Bono. The play takes
place in the 1950s; the Maxon house is a small two story house with a lesser dirt
yard and a partially built fence. In the yard there is a baseball that hangs from the
tree with a bat leaning against it. In the play, Rose is a caring woman who devoted her
life to Troy, her husband. Being ten years younger than Troy, Rose still found Troy
s spirit fine and illuminating (3). She also cares for their son Corey. Thought out
the story Troy proves to not live up to the responsibility and respect that he
frequently talks about. He always preaches about how he does not want to be in a
place where he is not treated right, but does not always treat people right himself.
Troy cheats on his wife Rose with a woman named Alberta. Later, only to find out
that Troy is having a baby with Alberta. When Alberta dies giving birth to their
daughter, Raynell, Troy asks Rose to take care of his baby. Rose believes you can
t visit the sins of the father upon the child (36). Meaning she is willing to take care
of Raynell, not for troy but because Raynell is an innocent child with no mother. The
fence does not only represent the physical fence that Rose asked Troy to build. The
fence symbolizes how Rose tries to keep her family together.
Troy s second son Corey is a teenage boy who just wants to do his best for his father.

Compliance Does Not Equal Security
Compliance Does NOT Equal Security
WRONG Being Compliant Does Not Mean Your Business Is Secure
INTRODUCTION
Frequent news reports about company data breaches leave many people believing
that these companies simply aren t spending enough time and resources to deal with
information security. In many cases, companies that are breached have been told that
they are compliant with some standard (e.g., PCI, HIPAA, ISO 2700x, and SANS
CSC). They believe that because they are compliant, they are also secure.
Unfortunately, nothing could be further from the truth.
Compliance usually comes with a list of control objectives. When objectives are
complete and followed, your company should be complaint with a particular
standard or legislative requirement. However, simply checking the boxes for each
control objective doesn t mean that you ve actually improved your overall
operational security or reduced your company s risk. Managing compliance does not
translate to managing risk, at least not from an InfoSec perspective.
The biggest problem with equating compliance to security is that it implies that
there is a time when your company s team can focus on their regular jobs and do
something more important. In the real world, security never stops and it s never
complete. Regardless of whether you ve ramped up your security e orts, your
business needs to be constantly vigilant. If you experience a breach, simply having
that check mark showing you re compliant isn t enough.

Don Quijote Truthful History Summary
Contrary to those who might delve into the imaginative truths of the text, I am
taking a more literal and common sense approach in my belief that the claim
Cervantes makes through the narrator of Don Quijote being a truthful history is
most definitely a claim in jest. It was in all likelihood included to mirror the
humorous realities believed by the titular knight himself. This same assertion could
also be used to justify the seriousness of the claim by way of it being Don Quijote s
truthful history , which some would affirm is what you expect to glean from a
biographical tale in the first place. This can also be compounded on with the
protestation of the narrator on page 52: And if there is any possible objection to the

The liability for slip and fall injuries is usually assigned to the people who either
own the property or are in charge of maintaining it, or both. This means that, if you
get injured at work, the liability would fall on your employer, who s responsible for
keeping the workplace safe for workers. If you get injured at your local grocery store,
the grocer can be held fully liable, or they might share the liability with their
landlord if you slipped on their sidewalk or parking
Factors Causing Gender Inequity
The gender gap has been a concern for decades, it used to be that females lagged
behind males when it came to academic achievement. Females now outperform
males academically and are more likely to obtain college degrees and enroll in
graduate school despite the gender inequalities that remain in American society. The
underachievement of females has diminished if not vanished due to the focus of the
United States for the past 30 years to close the genderachievement gap. Yet, the
concern in the most recent years has been both the lower performance of girls in
mathematics and science and now males underperformance in most academic areas
(Del Rio Strasser, 2012). Why is it that despite that females and males attend the
same educational environment, males are having a hard time keeping up and
females continue to be less likely to take advanced math or science classes or enroll
in science and math related careers?
There are several factors that cause gender inequity and have caused the gender
achievement gap to grow. Factors such as society, culture, and students beliefs and
attitudes about learning. As members of a society we value certain rules, customs,
and values and we learn to follow our society s rules, customs and values. This is
called socialization and part of this socialization includes gender roles. As a society
we have learned that males and females have different roles and we expect them to
act differently depending on their gender. Children learn at a

Does technology go the right way and will it save or ruin our civilization?
Abstract:
It is believed that the human race exists on earth about 200,000 years, first originating
in Africa, but now they inhabit every continent, with a total population of over 6.5
billion people as of 2007. In addition, with the humans occupying the planet, natural
resources extinct, pollution increases, technology grows. In today s fast paced world,
technological progress, changes, and advances are happening everyday. Occasionally,
the technological progress, changes, and advances are both good and bad.
Furthermore, human race faces extinction threats and issues, which pulls out a
question if we can save the world or not. The planet Earth is a massive place; ... Show

Health harming is being caused by mobile phones, because there is radiation,
which leads to consequences such as headaches, earaches, blurring of vision and
even causing cancer. Even though these problems are still under research, mobile
phone users are advised to reduce the usage on mobile phones if it is possible.
There is also presence of less and less privacy respected with the use of computers
and internet. Today, it is very easy for many people to get into your personal
computer, e mail addresses, history of websites used, in order to find out immense
number of information, which can be later be used for personal gain. This is also a
case with cameras, either mobile phone cameras, computer cameras, and classical
cameras, where intimacy is no more respected. What is even more important is that
with technological progress there are more and more machinery, there is less need
for human labor, which brings poverty, leaves people without jobs, unemployment
is growing, but it still does not affect the economy because the progress can be even
better and more efficient with the development of the industry. There are less and
less farmers, because of the huge use of technological machinery who can perform
better for less cost and lower time. This is really affecting many societies and
cultures. However, it
Comparison on the Polybius from Punic Wars and Ssu-ma
Chi’en
At the end of the third century B.C., there were two independent and strong powers
existing separately at the southeast of China in Asia and at the core area of
Mediterranean in Europe, the Han dynasty and Rome. They have both reached the
high point of the contemporary civilizations. Also, they formed their empires by
defeating their own hostile forces. There are significant differences between the two
great empires in their process of birth, growth and perfection, ruling ideologies and
institutions and so on.
Before discovering and comparing these two civilizations, we have to enhance our
understanding on the authors of these two excerpts that lead people to reveal the
unknown yet attractive history of Rome and Han dynasty. Polybius ... Show more

All in a word, a more disciplined army and a stronger sense of honor and belongings
of Romans made them competitive and advantageous than the Carthaginians so that
the Romans can build a powerful empire in the core area of Europe that almost
contains the whole Mediterranean.
The foundation of the Han dynasty is a little different from that of the Romans .
Han dynasty is a completely new supremacy and an overturn of the former Chin
dynasty because of its tyranny. According to Ssu ma Ch ien, the Emperor Kao tsu
faced the competition of other forces and the resistance from the former dynasty in
his way of building Han dynasty. Unlike Rome that started wars to expand its
territory, Han dynasty took over the territory of former dynasty. During this process,
the most competitive and powerful opponent that Kao tsu faced was Hsiang Yu. Kao
tsu fought with Hsiang Yu in the decisive battle called Kai hsia.
Another evident difference between Rome and Han dynasty are political system and
ruling ideologies that they adopted. In Rome empire, the supreme power is divided
into three parts: the consuls, the senate and the people. Three main forces interact and
counteract with each other to avoid the monarchy. The first part, the consuls are the
master of all public affairs. They are the authority in the diplomacy. The senates are
composed of the ambassadors introduced by the consuls. They take care and
management of the public money and have the cognizance of all the
An Essay About Nikola Tesla
Nikola Tesla didn t exactly become the most inspiring or famous inventor, but with
the way he impacted modern life, he certainly seems like he d be the one to do it.
His creations were part of the movement to change the lives of many around the
world. Tesla even theorized and created the form of electric transmission which beat
that of Thomas Edison and still remains the world s choice. All said, Nikola Teslamay
have single handedly changed the way we live today with his countless inventions
and innovations in technology, impacting our lives with products like radio
transmission and the alternating current system.

Take Thomas Edison, for example. The two were partners in crime when Tesla first
moved to the United States, but the two split after only a couple years. During the
fight for dominance as the world s power supply, the two led rival camps disputing
the most effective way to transfer electric currents, with Tesla s AC (alternating
current) system vs. Edison s DC (direct current) ( Nikola , n.d.). Tesla won out in the
end, but Edison put up a great fight. How much more effective Tesla s system was,
though, clearly unopposed, seeing as it is still in use throughout the world today (
Nikola Tesla , 2018). Edison wasn t Nikola Tesla s only rival, however. Italian
inventor Gugliemo Marconi was huge in making advancements in radio
transmission. Tesla s later years were when Marconi was peaking, and in Tesla s
later years, many of his projects failed, and were also increasingly outlandish.
Marconi was easily able to win over Tesla, but Tesla still had his part to play (
Nikola , n.d.). Nikola Tesla got the Supreme Court to invalidate Marconi s radio
patents because Tesla beat him to the advancements. Only problem; that was 30
years after Tesla s death ( Nikola Tesla , 2018). Tesla also, at one point, tried to make
a wireless transmission system, maybe inspiring people of today to try to do the

Speech On King Henry Viii
Henry VIII of England On June 28, 1491 King Henry VIII was born at Greenwich
Palace in England. He was the third child of Henry VII and Elizabeth of York. (
Henry VIII Biography.com. ) The first child of Henry VII and Elizabeth was a boy
named Arthur. The second child was a girl named Margaret. The fourth child was
a little girl named Mary. He also had three other siblings, but sadly they did not
survive their early childhood. When Henry was young, his parents encouraged him
in his studies. Since Henry studied so much, he became a very clever boy. He also
loved writing poems. In 1502, Henry s older brother dies of an illness at age 15.
Due to Arthur s death, Henry became the heir apparent to the English throne. Many
people believed he was going to be a great king because he had received a great
amount of schooling and he spoke many languages. Henry was also very athletic.
He was very experienced in jousting, hunting, tennis, and archery. As Henry grew
older, he proved that he would rule tyrannically due to his thirst for blood and
power. He was not only selfish, but also handsome. Other people even stated he had
a hearty personality. ( Henry VIII Biography.com. ) Bloodshed seemed to be the
typical method to solve Henry s problems. Henry made his mark as king who would
not let anybody in his way. He soon charged his father s two ministers, Orman 2 Sir
Richard Empson and Edmund Dudley with treason. In 1510, the two ministers were
executed. Another completely

Slums
Introduction
A Slum refers to informal settlements within urban areas or cities. The informal
settlements depict inadequate housing and miserable condition with reference to
living standards (Meade p 43). In the slums, numerous individuals seek housing
facilities within small living spaces. The slums also lack basic local authority
services such as sanitation, collection of waste, water, drainage systems, street
lighting, and emergency roads. Most slums also lack schools, hospital, and public
places that might offer adequate environment for social amenities. The experience of
France illustrates the essence of slums within the modern society (Oberti p 58).

Relocation of the residents expresses elements of high economic and social costs with
reference to disruptions. The main beneficial aspect of slum upgrading is that the
citizens enjoy fundamental right to live under decent conditions. Slums upgrading
enables the city to address crucial challenges such as legality and social protection.
The act is also essential in encouraging the development of the economy. This is in
relation to minimization of the unemployment elements within the urban areas.
Upgrading of the slums is also noteworthy in relation to the achievement of quality
life. Slum upgrading also aims at reducing the level of criminal activities and
unemployment from the economy. The governments need to restructure and change
social paradigms in order to maximize the outcome of slum upgrading.
Conclusion
Slums are hindrance to the achievement of economic growth and development. It is
the duty of the government to plan effectively towards the achievement of quality life
within the cities. Slums contribute towards the presence of criminal activities within
the cities and unemployment hence a significant force towards the overall economic
development. Upgrading of slums is vital in the process of offering economic, social,
institutional, and cultural services to the city dwellers like other citizens.

Jesus Villahermosa Thesis
After reading the essay written by Jesus Villahermosa I believe his thesis statement
is Given my extensive experience dealing with violence in the workplace and at
schools and colleges, I do not think professors and administrators, let alone students,
should carry guns . In his second paragraph, he lays out reason as to why he feels
this way and shows that he can be considered an expert in firearmsafety. Giving
information into his background reinforces his position and add to his argument
against arming people on college campuses. Some may be surprised that he is against
having armed professors and students on campusbecause of his background. However,
I am not surprised that he is strongly against having firearm toting professors,
administrators and students throughout campuses. He is properly trained,
experienced with firearm safety and marksmanship which in turn gives him great
support to his argument. Villahermosa gave ample reasons to support his argument
against carrying weapons on college campuses throughout his essay. The most

He gave clear and abundant reasons to back up his argument and laid out many
consequences for having a policy that would allow guns on campus. With colleges
already struggling financially a policy allowing guns would bring even more need for
funding to cash strapped institutions. The training required would be extensive and
costly to have competent people carrying and ready to use their gun if needed. The
risks involved in allowing guns on campus seem to be extremely high and wildly
unpredictable. It would make it harder for police to distinguish between the good guy
and the bad guy in a crisis. Schools and employees would be subjected to lawsuits
and even imprisonment if innocent bystanders are shot instead of intended

Power Of Power In Othello
Bulldozers destroy. Ice cream soothes. Hurricanes terrorize. Worship music uplifts.
The American flag represents freedom. Presidents represent power. The cross
represents faith. All of these objects and people have certain tasks assigned to them,
requirements that are expected of them. But the symbols and experiences these
objects and people represent would be nothing without words. Words make the
destruction of a hurricane devastating to those living hours away. Words coalesce
with music notes, bringing encouragement and praise. Words make the ideas of
freedom, power, and faith attainable and life changing. That is because words are
more than empty sounds or distant thought. Words embody power, reveal beliefs,
alter the perspectives of self and others, and induce freedom. Words embody power,
giving people enough credibility to destroy or uplift others. In Othello, words are the
prime weapon used to destroy Othello and his future. Iagorefers to Othello as Such a
thing as thou..., knee crooking knave, and abuser of the world (Shakespeare
I.ii.57, I.i.22, I.ii.62). Iago uses these words against Othello, even though he is
simply Othello s advisor, to create a power over him. Iago manipulates people and
situations with words, destroying them in the process. Iago uses his words to
make people feel a certain way. Iago tells Othello, I see this hath a little dash d your

Abortion Is A Fetus A Living Human
Is a developing fetus a living human? Is a fetus not considered a human until the
second trimester? Does poverty, rape and disability justify an abortion? Is the
abortion dilemma truly black and white? Abortion is one of the most common
medical procedures performed in the United States each year. Nearly one in four of
all pregnancies end in abortionequalling 42% of all yearly deaths around the world.
For pro life supporters, they say that life begins at conception; the instant when a
sperm cell unites with a egg cell. For pro choice supporters, they say at birth, a baby
is a living human. At conception, they know it is something but they don t consider it
a human life. Since 1973, the number of abortions has spiked drastically from over
700,000... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Others will object and say it is just a fetus. Millions of babies each year, die without
even being born because of abortion. How should society respond to the huge
increase in the amount of abortions over the past few years? Society needs to make
a big change and make abortions illegal. People think it is acceptable to kill
someone who doesn t even have a say yet. People think it is acceptable to put their
rights before two other individuals. Why though? Why take what seems like the
easy way out all the time? Society is showing people that it is okay to kill unborn
fetuses. Society certainly needs an effective way of preventing abortions. But in the
end, the fact that abortion has been legalized in America since 1973, shows that right
now our problem is only going to get bigger and we need to do something about it
Duality In Dr Jekyll And Hyde
During the Victorian Era, many people appeared as great contributing members of
society and were praised, but were later looked down upon for their hidden secrets or
actions committed. This is referred as duality, which also means having a double
life. Duality is expressed in Robert Louis Stevenson s book, The Strange Case of Dr
Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Which takes place during the Victorian Era. Duality was very
common during the Victorian era. Many politicians and famous people during this
time tried their best to hide their second life, which contained many secrets.
Eventually, these secrets were publicly exposed, trashing their public image. The idea
of hypocrisy, authenticity, and conformity contribute to evil and are all shown in the
book... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows relevance due to the fact that Dr Jekyll uses this potion to become
someone else, losing control of his true self. His true desires include murders and
being a cold hearted person, which he can only do while being Mr Hyde. This is as
an excuse to pursue bad behavior because he feels that he doesn t have control over
the situation, and wouldn t do it as his normal self, when in reality, he craves this
bad behavior but does not want to be caught doing them while being Dr Jekyll
because he doesn t want to lose his respected image.
The author uses Dr Jekyll as an example to show that for a society to strive and be
successful they must show conformity and value the morals and rules that are
necessary to live in their society. Conformity was very important during the
victorian era. Conformity is to basically fit in and be normal. Dr Jekyll shows
conformity by being a respectable doctor and being known throughout the
community as being a normal person. Dr Jekyll throws this away when he
becomes Mr Hyde because he does not conform with the rules of the Victorian era.
He also does not choose to get help for his addiction. One can assume that he does
not want to get the help for his addiction because he feels like he can manage his
addiction while keeping his morals and virtues without having them disturbed. When
he is Dr Henry Jekyll, he has morals and
Islam, By Michael Lipka And Conrad Hackett
Today, religion is a very controversial topic; and perhaps the most controversial
religion of all, is Islam. Islam is the world s second largest religion after
Christianity, and the fastest growing religion in the world. Research conducted by
Michael Lipka and Conrad Hackett found that, Muslims will grow more than twice
as fast as the overall world population between 2010 and 2050 and, in the second
half of this century, will likely surpass Christians as the world s largest religious
group. With so many different views on what a Muslim is or should be; one may
wonder what Islamactually teaches. If it truly what the media portrays it to be, then
we all have a very good reason to be afraid. While many people combat
stereotyping, I have developed quite a few negative views about Islam over the
years, due to my horrible experiences with Islam. Although I despise stereotyping, I
believe that many stereotypes exist for good reasons.
Just like Christianity and Judaism, Islam is a monotheistic religion; meaning it is
centered on the worship of one divine creator. Most Muslims would agree that
Islam is a peaceful religion, and many Muslims claim that the word Islam translates
to peace in Arabic. However, this is false, the word Islam actually means Surrender.
Islam is a very strict religion, focusing heavily on what you do during the time that
you re alive, rather than what you believe. Many rules must be followed at all times.
A person who breaks one of those rules
The Importance Of Dress Codes
Throughout the years the debate over school dress has been a hot topic, while
dress codes are nothing new, they have been a growing issue that past few decades.
According to Laura Birkett on the Toronto Star, For as long as there have been
teenagers, there have been adults aghast at their habits... often expressed by their
wardrobe ( Students Protest Dress Codes IN7). Dress codes pose to have no actual
effect on students in today s world. Birkett also explained that with dress codeor
without it kids will do what they want and will still, most likely, grow up to me
respectable adults in the working class ( Students Protest Dress Codes IN7). Dress
codes have been proven unnecessary and therefore, have no positive benefits on
students.
Dress codes are also sending the wrong message to students about body shaming.
Donna George for the Washington Post reveals that, at a School in Maryland a
young girl was called out for her leggings which were said to be a distraction by the
young girls teacher. School administrators are shown supporting the body shaming
of students when the mother of the young girl, Eboni Banks filed a civil right
complaint confirming that, Administrators are being allowed to discriminate and
engage in body shaming behaviors (George). The fact that school district
employees are being given the right to determine if a girl s clothes are too
distracting or not makes the girl being victimized feel as if she s doing something
wrong and should be ashamed of

Mark Twain Thesis
Samuel L. Clemens Many people have read books by the famous author Mark
Twain. A few of his most famous novels are The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,
Adventures of Tom Sawyer, and Jim Smiley and his Jumping Frog. Hearing the
name Mark Twain rings a bell, but surprisingly, that is not the author s real name.
His given name is Samuel Clemens. Samuel Langhorne Clemens was born
November 30, 1835, in Florida, Missouri, and he was the sixth child of John and
Jane Clemens. His father was always searching for wealth, but he never achieved it,
and he often times found it hard to feed his family. He had many jobs, and he was a
surly, unsmiling man. According to one legend, young Samuel never saw his dad

Nothing ended up working, and he was broke and needed a regular job. Clemens
became a reporter for the Virginia City Territorial Enterprise, where he adopted the
pen name Mark Twain. That is steamboat slang for 12 feet of water. Mark Twain
became one of the best storytellers in the West, and he had this distinct writing
style, where everything was funny and friendly, but also scornful, ironic, and
sarcastic. He wrote Jim Smiley and his Jumping Frog, earning his big break. His
next jump into success came from his cruise along the Mediterranean, where he
wrote humorously for newspaper, also hoping to get a book out of the trip. At the
age of 34, he published The Innocents Abroad, and he became a best selling author.
Twain s stories are shaped by life experiences. Some influences come from
Hannibal, where he saw how slaves and Native Americans were treated. Huck Finn
is an orphan who travels with a freed slave named Jim. Another experience, such as
the fact that his father and a few of his siblings died when he was young, shaped his
writing of Huckleberry Finn. Young Huck Finn experiences death at a young

children would be placed in proper booster or car seats for their age and buckled
soundly. Most children that are not buckled are from families where the parent
does not buckle up ( Child Passenger Safety 2). When in a car, only about 21% of
children ages 4 8 years of age are occasionally riding in a booster ( Child Passenger
Safety Statistics 4).These precautions help children to be secure in case of an accident
. In an article published by the CDC, they stated, Buckling children in age and size
appropriate car seats, booster seats, and seat belts reduces the risk of serious and
fatal injuries ( Child Passenger Safety 4). The laws state that all children should be in
a car seat, for a reason. Use of seat belts are important but the combination of seat
belts and boosters together, are proven to help keep children from deaths and injuries
in accidents, especially when they are used
Streptomyces Essay
Streptomyces is a genus of Gram positive bacteria in the actinomycetes group.
Streptomyces species are common inhabitants of soil, though they are found in a
variety of habitats. They have a mycelial and reproduce by the formation of spores
at the extremities of aerial hyphae. They respire aerobically and can use a wide
range of organic compounds as carbon and energy sources. Streptomyces often
produce extracellular enzymes that allow them to utilize various materials such as
starch, cellulose and chitin. They produce over half of all known antibiotics, and
certain species are commercially important. An example of an antibiotic produced by
Streptomyces griseus is streptomycin. (Collins Dictionary of Biology, 3rd ed. 2005)
Streptomyces are the most extensively studied and well known genus of the
actinomycete family. Streptomyces typically dwell the soil and are significant
decomposers. They also are medically significant due to their ability to produce...

Worthy of note is the process involving the production of antibiotics where there is a
symbiotic relationship between Streptomyces and plant. The antibiotic protects plants
against pathogens, and plant exudates allows the growth of Streptomyces.
Researchers have suggested that some antibiotics originated as signal molecules, with
the ability to effect variations in the expression of some genes that are unrelated to a
stress response. DNA replication; RNA synthesis; cell wall synthesis and protein
synthesis have been identified as possible targets for cellular disruption which is
undoubtedly a complex process. Streptomyces is a well known genus of the
Actinomycetes family of bacteria with a unique morphology and metabolism, which
lends to its ability to produce more than half of the antibiotics that are used in

The Believer, By And Criticism Of Jews
Throughout history the Jewish people have undertaken a great deal of
enslavement. They were first enslaved by the Egyptians than later enslaved by the
Germans. Their enslavement has defined their identity. One can dispute the Jews
would not be in existence if they were not enslaved. From the article, The Sacrifice
of Daniel, on the Believer, author Josh Kun disputes, there is no Jewish identity if
the Jew is loved. (Kun p. 369). The Jewish identity is rooted in a passive identity
with a need to be detested by superior identities. This shows the Jewish sexual
identity has a lack of masculinity. From Henry Bean s film The Believer, the
protagonist, Danny Balint, a Jewish neo Nazi. Danny s hatred and criticism of Jews

Qualities associated with a man comprise of exhibiting courage, independence and
assertiveness. In The Believer, there was a scene where Danny is beating on the
Jewish boy, he had a lack of courage, independence, and assertiveness, qualities he
could have utilized to defend himself from Danny. This is what solidified the belief
that, the Jew only knows who the Jew is when the Jew is hated. (Kun p. 369).
Danny wanted the Jewish boy to hit him back to defend the Jewish boy in Danny, to
attest Jews are capable of fighting back. The Jewish community also showed their
lack of masculinity in reaction to the film. In Josh Kun s article, Kun restates what
The Los Angles Times, Entertainment Weekly reported, Rabbi Cooper made it clear
to Paramount that the centre would not publicly support the film because of its
content. (Kun p. 370). By having the rabbi publicly state the Jewish community will
not support the film illustrates that the community is incapable of being critical of
themselves. The Rabbi represents the Father of the Jews. The obedience to the rabbi
represents the obedience to God. The Jewish community must obey their rabbi. There
are Jew s in the community that have concerns of their religious community, such as
Kun who states, I am listening to the film s protagonist, Daniel Balint, an Orthodox
Jew turned Nazi skinhead rant about Jews, and I am agreeing with him. (Kun p.
369). Rabbi Cooper s unacceptance of the film, The Believer, gives
Blink Gym Observation
Friday, December 11 2015 6pm i went to the Blink gym on Utica Ave. I have been
working out at this gym for about a year. I decided to observe the people that are
working out at the gym, i was looking at the various people, exercises, and even the
most popular area in the gym. The gym was very crowded with people. This is the
only gym in my neighborhood and the monthly price for the gym goes low as 15$
a month. They also have special that allows you to get the first Two months free of
no charge and if you have a 20$ Membership you can bring a guest with you. I
made the conclusion based on these factors that s why the gym has so many
customers. The time i have spent here i noticed that the members of this gym is
predominantly African American. I can safely say that majority of them were
from the Caribbean. This distinction was made because of my previous research on
the types of people that purchase lottery tickets from the corner store across the
street from the gym. Based on that research i discovered that most of the
customers in the store had an accent and my neighborhood is predominantly
African American this plays a huge role in the type of people that are seen in
average inside the store or even the gym. I also noticed a few Spanish and White
people as well but the amount wasn t nearly as large. It wasn t possible to determine
the class of the people working out in the gym. The things i... Show more content on

Pornography In The Media
Pornography is the portrayal of sexual subject matter for the purpose of sexual
arousal. Pornography may be presented in a variety of media, including books,
magazines, postcards, photographs, sculpture, drawing, painting, animation, sound
recording, writing, film, video, and video games. The term applies to the depiction
of the act rather than the act itself, and so does not include live exhibitions like sex
shows and striptease. The primary subjects of present day pornographic depictions
are pornographic models, who pose for still photographs, and pornographic actors or
porn stars, who perform in pornographic films. If dramatic skills are not involved, a
performer in a porn film may also be called a model.

There is also some evidence that pornography can be used to treat voyeurism.
Etymology
The word is similar to the Modern Greek ПЂОїПЃОЅОїОіПЃО±П†ОЇО±, which
derives from the Greek words ПЂПЊПЃОЅО·, and ОіПЃО¬П†ОµО№ОЅ, and the
suffix ОЇО±, thus meaning a written description or illustration of prostitutes or
prostitution . No date is known for the first use of the word in Greek; the earliest
attested, most related word one could find in Greek, is, pornographos, i.e. someone
writing about harlots , in the Deipnosophists of Athenaeus. The Modern Greek word
pornographia is a translation of the French pornographie.
Pornographie was in use in the French language during the 1800s. The word did not
enter the English language as the familiar word until 1857 or as a French import in
New Orleans in 1842.
Pornography is often abbreviated to porn or porno in informal language.
History
Depictions of a sexual nature are older than civilization as depictions such as the
venus figurines and rock art have existed since prehistoric times. When large scale
excavations of Pompeii were undertaken in the 1860s, much of the erotic art of the
Romans came to light, shocking the Victorians who saw themselves as the
intellectual heirs of the Roman Empire. They did not know what to do with the
frank depictions of sexuality and endeavored to hide them away from everyone but
upper class scholars. The moveable objects were locked away in the
Kanye West Influence On Society
Art is known for producing unsightly items, which gain beauty with time. On the
other hand, fashion is known for producing items of exquisite beauty, which
depreciate with time. With such a phenomenon plaguing society, fashion creates an
imposition and reign on freedom on many, allowing us to make ourselves slaves to
this great folly. Fashiontherefore has the unique power of eradicating one s self
identity, and conforming society to a homogenous structure. However, throughout
history, we are given the opportunity to live amongst individuals who aim to
challenge these phenomena and ideologies, which society has grown so accustomed
to, with one of these figures being the infamous Kanye West. Yet, despite his
intentions to eliminate this phenomenon... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

famous family wearing the rare shoes, allotted times in his interviews with details
on the collection s launch and even allotted times in his concerts to rant about his
disgust for the Nike brand but yet praise his seemingly superior shoes. By utilizing
his wife s family, the Kardashians, who are well known for their presence on social
media with even apps documenting their lives which people pay to gain such
privileged access, and have a notably large fan base, Kanye West effectively
managed to create hype for these shoes, as the Kardashian family is a patriarch
which many wish to be like. Therefore, with such influential power in society,
Kanye West managed to not only create hype for these shoes, but also a worldwide
frenzy. Additionally, Kanye West is known for his outrageous rants, with all of them
never managing to go unnoticed in the tabloids. Through his rants in his concerts
and on interviews which he rarely does, with some rants lasting as much as twenty
minutes on the sole topic of shoes and his dispute with Nike, Kanye West elevated
the hype for his shoes, as people firstly became intrigued by the drama and then the
shoes. With such a broad range of effective advertising methods, Kanye West was
able to create such a great hype for his shoes, everyone wanted to get their hands on a
pair. Similarly, Horkheimer and Adorno recognize the importance of advertising in
the culture industry, with its power to turn all participants into listeners and
authoritatively subjects them to broadcast programs which are all exactly the same

Job Satisfaction, Work Attitude and Stress Tolerance of...
CHAPTER I
The PROBLEM AND ITS SCOPE
INTRODUCTION
Rationale of the Study
Job satisfaction is simply how people feel about their jobs and different aspects of
their jobs. It is the extent to which people like (satisfaction) or dislike
(dissatisfaction) their jobs. As it is generally assessed, job satisfaction is an
attitudinal variable. In the past, job satisfaction was approached by some
researchers from the perspective of need fulfilment that is, whether or not the job
met the employee s physical and psychological needs for the things provided by
work (Cote S., and Morgan LM, 2002).
In a report on job satisfaction by the National Center for Education Statistics (2003)

Taking in to account that most of these teachers are working away from their home
and family and could only go home weekly, or the least once a month due to the
distance of the schools they are assigned.
However, districts located in the hinterland such as Paquibato, had most number of
teacher applicants every year. Reason of this scenario could be the fact that many
teachers are applying for transfer to the nearby schools after a one or two years of
service and that applicant could be hired easily. Nevertheless, some teachers had
tenured in this district up to their retirement period and some had flourished and
raised their professional status and positions.
The ground for conducting this study is that it is intended to shed light on what
influences how teachers feel about their work and profession so that positive job
related attitudes may be cultivated.
Theoretical Background
The Maslow s hierarchy of needs theory, a motivation theory, laid the foundation for
job satisfaction theory. It is founded in the premise that goals or needs underpin by
being the fundamental source of all desires.
This theory explains that people seek to satisfy five specific needs in life
physiological needs, safety needs, social needs, self esteem needs, and self
actualization. In the levels of the five basic needs, the person does not feel the second
need until the demands of the first
Analysis Of A Man Called Ove
Have you ever had to send away a beloved one to heaven? If so, what did you
experience? Were you able to continue your daily life in pretty decent amount of
time, or were you trapped in your emotions and couldn t move on from it? If not
so, what would you imagine yourself being or feeling? A Man Called Ove, a
fascinating work of literature by Fredrik Backman, portraits a cranky, grumpy, old
man, Ove s journey of meeting life changing new neighbor, opening his heart to
them, and overcoming the grief and pain from a loss. After losing his beloved
wife, Ove succeedingly loses his happiness and a purpose to live. He tries to
commit suicide several times, however, fortunately, they are always interrupted by
his new next door neighbor. They always look out for him and care deeply about
him which leads him out of the depression and remembers again how it feels like to
be truly loved and cared. A Man Called Ove is definitely an astonishing work of
literature that has to be read by St. Andrew s 10th grade students because it has been
rapturously reviewed by prominent critics, it has been well produced as a film, and it
depicts the issue our society is going through with human grief and sorrow after a
loss, while assisting the students to form their own standpoint about the issue. A Man
Called Ove has received countless enthusiastic reviews by prominent critics,
distinctly by New York Times Book Review, People, and Publishers Weekly. The

Rudolfo Anaya s, Bless Me, Ultima and Guillermo del Toro s, Pan s Labyrinth are
two coming of age stories. Both the novel and the movie are full of events that
contribute to the disillusionment of the main character s childhood idealism and the
realization of the real world they live in. Both protagonists absorb themselves in a
mythical world full of fantasy and each receives exposure to religious theology and
trauma by the violence of men. Despite the fact that Antonio and Ofelia have
different familial role models and travel along different paths, their childlike
innocence, disillusionment, and initiation into adulthood comes about through
similar themes: myth, religion, and violence. Bless Me, Ultima is about Antonio, the

Captain Vidal is Ofelia s tyrannical stepfather who expects unquestioning obedience
from her as well as everyone else. Since Ofelia lacks a mother figure, she
establishes an attachment to Mercedes, the housekeeper and revolutionary spy.
Mercedes in turn mothers Ofelia. Ofelia is most influenced by a faun, a mythical
creature of the earth. This creature introduces her to natural magic, helps her by
teaching her how to help heal her mother, and gives advice. He also tells her about
the magical world that Ofelia is a part of via a past life and can join again. In
general, mythology and natural magic is common in coming of age stories,
especially when the main character is untainted by traumatic experiences that lead
to disillusionment. It is the nature of childhood to have more insight to their
environment and open to myths that adults no longer entertain. The innocent tend
to accept coincidences as magic. In Anaya s novel, Antonio is very fascinated by
Ultima and her powers as a curandera and does not seem to question her methods
once she cure his Uncle Lucas. Her magic makes him question the teaching he
receives in school and church in this narration: I had been thinking how Ultima s
medicine had cured by uncle and how he was well and could work again. I had
been thinking how the medicine of the doctors and of the priest had failed. In my
mind I could not understand how the power of God could fail. But it had.

Apple became a well diverse company with the leadership of Jobs they had 15
product lines which were slashed down to 4 categories desktop and portable
Macintoshes, for consumers and professionals. (Pg3) Not only did they have 15
different products which placed them in several different industries but they tried to
depict themselves as Worlds greenest lineup of notebooks that was energy efficient
and used recyclable materials (Pg 4)
Rivalry
The rivalry in this industry is high with the four top Pc vendors Hewlett Packard,
Dell, Lenovo, and Acer accounted for 53.6 percent of worldwide shipments. (Pg 5)
Even though it was Apple who founded the first personal computer it was IBM that
brought them into the conventional lives of society. Within this time period there
were a lot of mergers and acquisitions making rivalry amongst firms even greater as
every time this occurred these merged companies would have more market share and
more capital to help their business.
Threat of substitutes
A lot of these products were similar in many ways and allowed consumers to do
pretty much the same things. For example a Laptop had a camera as did an iPad as
well as a Ultra book, an iPhone and an iPod. All of these products could also go on
the internet and have programs like Microsoft office. Competitors also had the same
attributes so I would say threat of substitutes is high.

Our approval of those traits arises from sympathy with people in the individual s
narrow circle of friends and associates, since, given natural human selfishness, we
cannot expect people s concerns to extend farther. By adopting the common point of
view we correct for the distortions of sympathy by entering into the feelings of
those close to the person being evaluated even if they are remote from us. The
mechanism of sympathy ultimately accounts for this approval and the corresponding
disapproval of the natural vices. Sympathy also explains our approval of the
artificial virtues whereas we approve each individual exercise of such natural virtues
as gratitude and friendship because we sympathize with those who are affected by
each such action when we consider it from the common point of
Multi-Culturism

Multicultural Education in America America has long been called The Melting Pot
because it is made up of a varied mix of races, cultures, and ethnicities. As more and
more immigrants come to America searching for a better life, the population naturally
becomes more diverse. This has, in turn, spun a great debate over multiculturalism.
Some of the issues under fire are who is benefiting from the education, and how to
present the material in a way so as to offend the least amount of people. There are
many variations on these themes as will be discussed later in this paper. In John

These steps are as follows: First, from the very beginning, social studies should be
taught from a global perspective. We are all equal owners of the earth, none of us
are more entitled than others to share in its many wealth s or misfortunes. The
uniqueness of each individual is what adds variety to our everyday life. Second,
social studies will continue to serve nation building purposes. By pointing out the
things we share in common, it will be easier to examine the individual things that
make us different. Third, the curriculum must strive to be informed by the most up to
date scholarship. The administrators must know that in the past, we have learned
from our mistakes, and we will continue to do so in the future. By keeping an open
mind, we will take in new knowledge and different viewpoints as they are brought up.
Fourth, students need to see themselves as active makers and changers of culture and
society. If given the skills to judge people and their thoughts fairly, and the knowledge
that they can make a difference, students will take better control of life in the future.
Fifth, the program should be committed to the honoring and continuing examination
of democratic values as an essential basis for social organization and nation building.
Although the democratic system is far from perfect, it

Wellness Therapy And Volunteer Services For A 111 Bed...
I am the Director of Recreation Therapy and Volunteer Services for a 111 bed
nursing home. As the Recreation Director, I am responsible for the delivery of our
therapeutic recreation (TR) services. I have a process that I follow for developing
each resident s TR plan. I complete a leisure assessment for each new resident. With
the information gathered from the assessment, I create a TR goal for the resident.
Using this goal, I identify objectives and choose a modalitythat will help meet the
resident s goal.
After taking this course, I have identified two areas of my TR process that can be
improved. I need to write more clearly defined goals with measurable objectives and
I need to have a stronger link between the therapeutic recreation goals and the chosen
modalities. By more accurately using the therapeutic recreation process, I will be
able to bring about a desired change in the resident to improve quality of life.
Before Foundations of Therapeutic Recreation
To illustrate my thesis, I will use the example of Mrs. Smith.
Mrs. Smith is a 72 year old female who has mild dementia with responsive
behaviours. She is very anxious, which is preventing her from having social
interactions. Using my original TR method, I developed the following goal for Mrs.
Smith, The resident will reduce anxiety by participating in two programs a week of
her choice by December 31, 2016 . Then I identified objectives to achieve the goal: 1.
Give a calendar of events to the resident.
Problem Of Income Inequality
Income Inequality
On the problem of income inequality, there are at least three views one can
consider. Edward McClelland discusses the apparent changes and disappearance of
the middle class. Monica Potts argues that lack of education is a cause of wealth
disparity. Gary Becker and Kevin Murphy agrees with Potts on the aspect that those
who are less educated is being left behind and discusses a couple ways that we can fix
this disappearance of the middle class. On reflection, I am inclined to believe that
education as a whole should be emphasized and worked on to help suit a more
wide variety of students. Edward McClelland provides us with a timeline from his
experiences and where it was more apparent that the middle class was disappearing.
As he elaborates, the 1970 s (when he grew up) was where it was still possible to be
a highschool dropout and still make more than high school teachers, and the 1980 s
is when things began to change with the beginning of a recession. He later goes on
to say the disappearance of the middle class has nothing to do with us as a whole or
capitalism, but has everything to do with the government. How could this be the
government s fault instead of capitalism? Capitalism was designed so one can
provide for themselves which is exactly what is happening. Whereas, according to
McClelland, ...the federal government withdrawing its supervision of the economy at
the precise moment Americans began to need it more than at any time since the Great

The values of these factors could be changed to develop different scenarios in the
search for a solution (Hahn 2007). While operations research has provided
management with a valuable tool in the planning and control of production activities,
mathematical models have yet to account effectively for human behaviors.
Nowadays, many of the techniques are highly sophisticated. Organisations often use
staff specialists to help managers apply techniques. The software and hardware
development also have potential quantitative applications to managerial problems.
After the three management approaches, the modern management approaches grew
directly from foundation established.
When people became complicated and variable, the management changed into
modern management approaches. While time changed, people have more different
needs. Therefore, the organisations and managers should have variety of managerial
strategies and job opportunities to deal with individual differences. Systems thinking
and contingency thinking are the key foundations of the modern management
approaches. The system is collection of interrelated parts that function together to
achieve a common purpose (Campling et al. 2008, p92). It use communication

To Kill A Mockingbird Atticus Essay

  • 1. To Kill A Mockingbird Atticus Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of Atticus Finch in "To Kill a Mockingbird" can be quite challenging due to the multifaceted nature of the character and the profound themes explored in Harper Lee's novel. Atticus is a complex figure, embodying various virtues and grappling with the pervasive racial prejudices of his time. As the moral compass of the story, dissecting his beliefs, actions, and impact on the narrative requires a nuanced understanding. Delving into Atticus's character demands a meticulous analysis of his role as a father, a lawyer, and a symbol of moral integrity. One must navigate through the layers of his interactions with the townspeople, his approach to parenting, and his unwavering commitment to justice. The essay should unravel how Atticus's principles are both a source of inspiration and a point of contention within the narrative, presenting a challenge to the writer to balance admiration and critique. Moreover, the social and historical context of the novel adds an extra layer of complexity to the essay. Discussing Atticus requires exploring the racial tensions and injustices prevalent in Maycomb, weaving them into the fabric of the character's beliefs and actions. Crafting a comprehensive analysis necessitates a deep exploration of the racial dynamics depicted in the novel, as well as an understanding of the impact of Atticus's legal endeavors on the broader societal narrative. To encapsulate the essence of Atticus Finch in an essay is a formidable task, requiring a careful examination of literary elements, character development, and the broader societal implications within "To Kill a Mockingbird." It demands an analytical approach, critical thinking, and the ability to synthesize various aspects into a coherent and compelling argument. In the realm of academic support, platforms like HelpWriting.net provide assistance in tackling such challenging essay topics. If you find yourself grappling with the complexities of character analysis or literary exploration, consider seeking support from expert writers who can guide you through the intricacies of crafting a thoughtful and well-structured essay. • 2. Exploration of Castles Essay Exploration of Castles A.D 450 saw the creation of castles. Romans were replaced by Anglo Saxon foes, and these did leave behind a system of castles however these were for Motte and Bailey castles built in the reign of Edward the confessor. The Norman invasion of 1066 was one of the causes for castles to become an important part of defence. After king Harold s defeat by William the conqueror, William was concerned about how he would control the country with only a limited number of troops facing a hostile environment. He did not have enough troops to station them everywhere, so he used a very useful tactic that had worked in Normandy previously. This was a simplified castle known as a ... The pathways and ladders that allowed reach to important areas of the castle have been removed or destroyed; and the enemy are at a disadvantage because they are facing attack from a raised level. As time progressed, the situation in England changed. The Normans were now in control of England and there was little resistance from hostile sources, therefore a concentration on the development of castles occurred. Less time was needed for castles to be constructed quickly and therefore time could be used to search for better materials for building. This meant that stone could be used instead of wood, which was used previously. By 1100, the earth that had held Motte and bailey castles had now settles, and was capable of sustaining much larger weights. With the change to stone castles, fire was not a concern as it was when Motte and baileys were in use. Square keeps were used when the development of stone castles were quite young. They were often built in the most important places, to show how powerful the Normans were. Square keeps were good because of the immense thickness of the walls. The walls in square keeps were often up to 5 metres thick, and 30 metres high. This added to the strength of the castle because the walls could easily withstand attacks from siege weapons such as magonels and trebuchets. Text Box: Because of the

Patients demographics and stone criteria are displayed in table 1. Success rate was 90.5% (38/42) and 97.8% (88/90) in groups I and II respectively with statistically insignificant difference (p = 0.3). Complete stone retrieval without fragmentation was achieved in 35 patients (83.3%) in group I and 74 patients (82.2%) in group II. Stone migrated proximally in 4 patients (9.5%) in group I and only 2 patients (2.2%) in group II in whom procedure ended by ureteral stenting (table 2). We had no significant difference between the two groups concerning minor intraoperative complications. We noticed mucosal injury in 3 patients (7.1%) in emergency group and 4 patients (4.4%) in delayed group. Hematuria also was observed in 2 patients (4.7%) in emergency group and 3 (3.3%) in delayed group. These results were comparable to those reported by Sarica et al who found no significant difference between the two groups in terms of intraoperative complications [7]. No major complications such as perforation or avulsion were noticed in our study. This was comparable to the results of Matani et al who reported serious complications in 0.7% of patients [6]. Nevertheless; we did not conduct a cost effective comparison. We recommend conducting prospective studies on larger scale to confirm the principle of emergency

My sociological experience at the Houston Food Bank, a formal organization ( a group designed for a special purpose and structured for maximum efficiency), I used my time to social network (social relationships that link a person directly to others, and through them and indirectly to more people). • 6. Essay On Solitary Confinement Some people say that solitary confinement is a necessary part of the judicial system. They say that certain people need to be separated from the rest of the world, they say that it is more humane than other punishments like death. They also say that since it is hard to research the effects of solitary confinement that the research that has been done is not credible. All of these are arguments for the use of solitary confinement but the fact is that none of them are valid. Solitary is an inhumane way of punishing people that doesn t help to fix them and the effects that it has on prisoners are absolutely horrific. Solitary confinement can actually be worse for the mentally ill. Many of the inmates that are subjected to solitary confinement have serious mental illness, and the conditions of solitary confinement can exacerbate their symptoms or provoke recurrence. (Metzner). Solitary confinement worsens the effects of mental illness which can be very dangerous to the prisoner and the few people that they get any human contact with. Solitary confinement is considered torture by the U.N. The U.N. Convention Against Torture defines torture as any state sanctioned act by which severe pain or suffering, whether physical or mental, is intentionally inflicted on a person for information, punishment, intimidation, or for a reason based on discrimination ( Solitary Confinement Facts. ) which solitary confinement clearly falls under especially with people with mental illness. Solitary confinements is a human rights violation which no one should be subjected to especially people with mental illness. Sometimes prisoners are not treated properly, in fact roughly 60 percent of the inmates whose solitary cases were reviewed had serious underdiagnosed or untreated mental illnesses. (Eilperin). Prisoners with mental illnesses did not get treatment and this can be very dangerous to not only the prisoner themselves but

Character Development In The Witch, And The Wardrobe Character Change and Development in The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, Prince Caspian, and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, Prince Caspian, and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, is a trilogy by C.S. Lewis about young children and their adventures in Narnia. Character change and development is a big aspect of these books and is the main focus in the trilogy. This big aspect definitely adds its effect to these books with their adventures in Narnia, transitioning them from youth to adulthood. Out of all the characters, I find Edmund, Lucy, and Peter the ones that undergo these adventures of maturity the most. In The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, and Prince Caspian, we see character change and development ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Firstly, we can tell that she is more observant. For example, in The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, Lucy is the first to notice and take interest in the Wardrobe, in Prince Caspian, she is the first to see Aslan has come back, and in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Lucy observes the painting and notices it is very narnian looking. Furthermore, we see how brave she has gotten over the span of the series. In The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, and Prince Caspian, Lucy shows how brave she is by taking out her dagger when wanting to join the war. It is not until we watch The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, when we see Lucy actually going into physical combat, that we know she is truly braver. Lastly, we take notice of Lucy s character development, maturity wise. In The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, Lucy is an imaginative and naГЇve young girl who seems to have no flaws until The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, when she starts envying her sister s beauty and not praising her own. This character development shows that she is growing up, now that she is more aware of the world and that not everything is innocent like it was is before. Lucy definitely undergo some interesting character change and developments in the Narnia
  • 8. Lady Horns Volleyball Team A lot of responsibility is placed in a person s hands when they are chosen as the team captain. You have to keep the rest of the teams heads up, and make sure everyone is getting along on the court. It can be a struggle sometimes because the rest of the team looks up to you, and respect you. A bunch of things can change how the team thinks of you, whether it be what you say or how you act. My senior year, I was team captain of the Lady Horns Volleyballteam, and it is a year to remember. I will never forget that first gamewhere our coach called me over for the coin toss. That moment I knew I had to be mature, and keep my head up because I was a leader for this team. I served and the other team shanked it, I served again and again, and next thing you know, we are up by seven. From serving and scoring so many points got the rest of the team pumped, and we ended up winning that game. Even being the team captain I got sit on the bench quite a bit, but it was all due to physical health issues. Even sitting on the bench I could not help but to stand up every time we got a point. Our biggest rivalry game of the season I didn t sit down once, I stood over at the end of the row of chairs and cheered every single time we gained a point, and even when we lost a point I would cheer the team to shake it off and to get the ball back. With all this going on we ended up making Forestburg Volleyball history. Making it the farthest the team has ever gotten in playoffs, the Regional Tournament. We sadly lost our first game there, but when the rest of the team was down from making simple mistakes, I kept my head up, and did my best to try and cheer them up, and that was our toughest loss of the season. I am proud of my team though, we played absolutely amazing this year, and made history! I can t wait to come back and watch the girls play

The fantastical element of super strength, uncanny agility, and web slinging exploits are paled in comparison to what lives in the heart of a hero according to comics. Superheroes, or supervillains, are not gods who come down from heaven to save or destroy us, though there are exceptions, but are instead the human spirit uplifted to a point of power. In comics, a hero is someone who does the right thing even if it is difficult, because they are, or should, be the best of us. In Spider Man, heroism is the responsibility to make the world a better place that motivated by the death of his uncle. Peter Parker wishes to bring less heartache to the world; he wishes to prevent what happened to him from happening to others. Peter Parker sacrifices nearly everything in his life in the pursuit of protecting the city but that is not how it began. Heroism is an occupation for Luke Cage to regain what was taken from him. But does this monetary influence somehow dampen the heroics of Spider Man and Luke Cage? And if they both are using their powers to make a better world it begs the question; what does it mean to make the world a better place? What actions are allowed
  • 11. Tobacco In Kentucky History Essay Role of Tobacco in Kentucky History Tobacco existed in Kentucky long before the establishment of the commonwealth Kentucky. Native Americans; such as the Shawnee, utilized tobacco medicinally and ceremonially. European settlers brought it with them to central and, eventually, western Kentucky, and until the late 1920s, Kentucky produced more tobacco than any other state. Kentucky remained the largest burley and dark tobacco producer, and ranked second, in total pounds produced, to North Carolina. Aside from recreational and ceremonial use, some Native American tribes and European Americans remedies involved tobacco, including pain easing salves, fighting labor pains, using smoke for colic and asthma, and chewing to soothe toothaches (Campbell). In 1964, the US Surgeon General released its first report regarding smoking hazards. Later reports offered specific warnings about tobacco use, including heart and ... The government finally dispersed the ATC s monopoly in 1911. During World War I, prices rose with the growing popularity of blended cigarettes, but dropped soon after. Kentucky burley farmers responded with an initially successful Burley Tobacco Growers Co operative Association that was inactive by 1926. The Great Depression worsened the situation, costing some farmers their land! Work programs and legislation provided some relief. The New Deal introduced the federal tobacco program (strengthened through subsequent legislation), which stabilized prices. Farmers raised yearly quotas in exchange for price supports (minimum price per

Detecting The Properties Of The Planets These techniques that the astronomers used in detecting the properties of the planets is more likely in detecting the properties of the exoplanet and other far object in the solar system like the Pluto. Even if it is so far away, Astronomers were able to see exoplanet by observing the host star with various method they used like transit method, the one method they used to find the trappist 1. Observing distant star requires the use of the space telescope like the Kepler telescope and spitzer telescope and it is study by the use of electromagnetic radiation emit by the star and the planet. If you know the planets orbital speed and orbital period, we can work out the orbital radius. The mass of the planet can also determine by the wobble method. As the planet orbit the sun, gravitational pull of the planet makes the star wobble, changing the sun velocity. This change of velocity can be detected by astronomical spectroscopy using redshift and blueshift. When the star wobble closer to us, the star emits higher frequencies, longer wavelength, and showing bluer colour when detecting to a spectroscope. When the star wobble away to us, the star emits lower frequencies, shorter wavelength, and showing reddish colour in the spectroscope. How the planet change the velocity of the sun determine the planet mass as gravitational pull of the planet depends on the mass of the planet. This transit can also give the astronomer the estimated linear diameter of the planet. When you know the star size, you can work out the size ratio of the planet and the star when the planet transit the star. As I mentioned before, knowing the linear diameter of the planet gives the astronomers the volume of the planet and volume of the planet and its mass determine the density of the planets. Knowing the properties of the planets, the astronomers can tell the conditions of the planets like their atmosphere, and surface environments especially to the exoplanets because this is the only way,

The Minotaur was an evil monster also known as the beast . He had the head of a bull and the body of a man. He is the mutant child of a human mother and a bull father. I ask myself, could life have been different for the Minotaur? I believe the Minotaur suffered the wrath of Poseidon because of the greed and hubris of his father, Minos. I pity the beast because Poseidon s spell that was placed on Pasiphae was to punish Minos for not sacrificing his bull. All humans experience rage and aggression that builds inside them and some have a hard time knowing how to control it where, as the Minotaur only knows rage and aggression because that is all he has been shown. The Minotaur was also half human and could have been capable of good and rational thoughts had he been raised to do so. In most stories of someone who has evil intentions, there is always a reason and it usually comes from something in their past or how they were raised. I think the Minotaur could have felt remorse, but in the Greek times his remorse would not have mattered. Greeks believed human reason could do a lot, but the Minotaur was not all human and the Greeks seen him as the enemy of reason . The story of the Minotaur could have been different, and he could have been the hero instead of the fierce flesh eating beast that everyone feared. He could have saved the young victims that were thrown into the labyrinth and they could have fought back against King Minos. Maybe if he defeated King Minos he could have been the king, now that would have been a story to write

  • 16. The Significant Meaning Of Devices In The Play Fences By... The play fences by August Wilson The title Fences has a significant meaning between Troy and the following characters Rose, Corey, and Bono. The play takes place in the 1950s; the Maxon house is a small two story house with a lesser dirt yard and a partially built fence. In the yard there is a baseball that hangs from the tree with a bat leaning against it. In the play, Rose is a caring woman who devoted her life to Troy, her husband. Being ten years younger than Troy, Rose still found Troy s spirit fine and illuminating (3). She also cares for their son Corey. Thought out the story Troy proves to not live up to the responsibility and respect that he frequently talks about. He always preaches about how he does not want to be in a place where he is not treated right, but does not always treat people right himself. Troy cheats on his wife Rose with a woman named Alberta. Later, only to find out that Troy is having a baby with Alberta. When Alberta dies giving birth to their daughter, Raynell, Troy asks Rose to take care of his baby. Rose believes you can t visit the sins of the father upon the child (36). Meaning she is willing to take care of Raynell, not for troy but because Raynell is an innocent child with no mother. The fence does not only represent the physical fence that Rose asked Troy to build. The fence symbolizes how Rose tries to keep her family together. Troy s second son Corey is a teenage boy who just wants to do his best for his father. Troy and Corey

But the feeling of accomplishment we felt when we finished was beyond any measure. As most of you know, earning the rank of Eagle Scout is quite an accomplishment. For those of you like me, who started out as a tiger cub, at six years old, and continued on into Boy Scouts, you know the time and dedication that is needed to become an Eagle Scout. Every Monday night for the last ten years has been dedicated to scouts, attending merit badge fairs, going to summer camps, and doing training courses are just some of the things we do. To achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, you have to have perseverance. All those things lead up to the reward. God would not put the dream in your heart if he did not already have a way to make it come to pass. Perseverance and
  • 18. Compliance Does Not Equal Security Compliance Does NOT Equal Security WRONG Being Compliant Does Not Mean Your Business Is Secure INTRODUCTION Frequent news reports about company data breaches leave many people believing that these companies simply aren t spending enough time and resources to deal with information security. In many cases, companies that are breached have been told that they are compliant with some standard (e.g., PCI, HIPAA, ISO 2700x, and SANS CSC). They believe that because they are compliant, they are also secure. Unfortunately, nothing could be further from the truth. Compliance usually comes with a list of control objectives. When objectives are complete and followed, your company should be complaint with a particular standard or legislative requirement. However, simply checking the boxes for each control objective doesn t mean that you ve actually improved your overall operational security or reduced your company s risk. Managing compliance does not translate to managing risk, at least not from an InfoSec perspective. The biggest problem with equating compliance to security is that it implies that there is a time when your company s team can focus on their regular jobs and do something more important. In the real world, security never stops and it s never complete. Regardless of whether you ve ramped up your security e orts, your business needs to be constantly vigilant. If you experience a breach, simply having that check mark showing you re compliant isn t enough. In

Don Quijote Truthful History Summary Contrary to those who might delve into the imaginative truths of the text, I am taking a more literal and common sense approach in my belief that the claim Cervantes makes through the narrator of Don Quijote being a truthful history is most definitely a claim in jest. It was in all likelihood included to mirror the humorous realities believed by the titular knight himself. This same assertion could also be used to justify the seriousness of the claim by way of it being Don Quijote s truthful history , which some would affirm is what you expect to glean from a biographical tale in the first place. This can also be compounded on with the protestation of the narrator on page 52: And if there is any possible objection to the truthfulness

  • 22. Factors Causing Gender Inequity The gender gap has been a concern for decades, it used to be that females lagged behind males when it came to academic achievement. Females now outperform males academically and are more likely to obtain college degrees and enroll in graduate school despite the gender inequalities that remain in American society. The underachievement of females has diminished if not vanished due to the focus of the United States for the past 30 years to close the genderachievement gap. Yet, the concern in the most recent years has been both the lower performance of girls in mathematics and science and now males underperformance in most academic areas (Del Rio Strasser, 2012). Why is it that despite that females and males attend the same educational environment, males are having a hard time keeping up and females continue to be less likely to take advanced math or science classes or enroll in science and math related careers? There are several factors that cause gender inequity and have caused the gender achievement gap to grow. Factors such as society, culture, and students beliefs and attitudes about learning. As members of a society we value certain rules, customs, and values and we learn to follow our society s rules, customs and values. This is called socialization and part of this socialization includes gender roles. As a society we have learned that males and females have different roles and we expect them to act differently depending on their gender. Children learn at a

All in a word, a more disciplined army and a stronger sense of honor and belongings of Romans made them competitive and advantageous than the Carthaginians so that the Romans can build a powerful empire in the core area of Europe that almost contains the whole Mediterranean. According to Ssu ma Ch ien, the Emperor Kao tsu faced the competition of other forces and the resistance from the former dynasty in his way of building Han dynasty. Unlike Rome that started wars to expand its territory, Han dynasty took over the territory of former dynasty. Tesla won out in the end, but Edison put up a great fight. How much more effective Tesla s system was, though, clearly unopposed, seeing as it is still in use throughout the world today ( Nikola Tesla , 2018). Tesla s later years were when Marconi was peaking, and in Tesla s later years, many of his projects failed, and were also increasingly outlandish. Marconi was easily able to win over Tesla, but Tesla still had his part to play ( Nikola , n.d.). Nikola Tesla got the Supreme Court to invalidate Marconi s radio patents because Tesla beat him to the advancements. Only problem; that was 30 years after Tesla s death ( Nikola Tesla , 2018). Nearly one in four of all pregnancies end in abortionequalling 42% of all yearly deaths around the world. For pro life supporters, they say that life begins at conception; the instant when a sperm cell unites with a egg cell. For pro choice supporters, they say at birth, a baby is a living human. Why take what seems like the easy way out all the time? Society is showing people that it is okay to kill unborn fetuses. Society certainly needs an effective way of preventing abortions. Duality In Dr Jekyll And Hyde During the Victorian Era, many people appeared as great contributing members of society and were praised, but were later looked down upon for their hidden secrets or actions committed. This is referred as duality, which also means having a double life. Duality is expressed in Robert Louis Stevenson s book, The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Which takes place during the Victorian Era. Duality was very common during the Victorian era. Many politicians and famous people during this time tried their best to hide their second life, which contained many secrets. Eventually, these secrets were publicly exposed, trashing their public image. The idea of hypocrisy, authenticity, and conformity contribute to evil and are all shown in the book... The author uses Dr Jekyll as an example to show that for a society to strive and be successful they must show conformity and value the morals and rules that are necessary to live in their society. Conformity was very important during the victorian era. Conformity is to basically fit in and be normal. Dr Jekyll shows conformity by being a respectable doctor and being known throughout the community as being a normal person. While many people combat stereotyping, I have developed quite a few negative views about Islam over the years, due to my horrible experiences with Islam. School administrators are shown supporting the body shaming of students when the mother of the young girl, Eboni Banks filed a civil right complaint confirming that, Administrators are being allowed to discriminate and engage in body shaming behaviors (George). The fact that school district employees are being given the right to determine if a girl s clothes are too distracting or not makes the girl being victimized feel as if she s doing something wrong and should be ashamed of

In the past, job satisfaction was approached by some researchers from the perspective of need fulfilment that is, whether or not the job met the employee s physical and psychological needs for the things provided by work (Cote S., and Morgan LM, 2002). However, districts located in the hinterland such as Paquibato, had most number of teacher applicants every year. Reason of this scenario could be the fact that many teachers are applying for transfer to the nearby schools after a one or two years of service and that applicant could be hired easily. Nevertheless, some teachers had tenured in this district up to their retirement period and some had flourished and raised their professional status and positions. The ground for conducting this study is that it is intended to shed light on what influences how teachers feel about their work and profession so that positive job related attitudes may be cultivated. Theoretical Background The Maslow s hierarchy of needs theory, a motivation theory, laid the foundation for job satisfaction theory.
