Separation And Education Of Young First Nations Children
The ambition of the Canadian government in regard to First Nations People was to assimilate them
into European culture and erase their culture from the country. Separation and education of young
First Nations children was the major means to achieve their objective. With substantial involvement
from the Christian churches, the residential school system was created and schools were built
throughout the entire country. The Kamloops Indian Residential School was attended by students from
the nations surrounding Kamloops including children from the Secwepemc Nation who occupied the
much of the southern interior of British Columbia. The school was ran by the Roman Catholic Church.
The Secwepemc children were no exception to the abominable conditions in the residential school
systems facilities and the effects of these schools can last a lifetime. The students who attended the
Kamloops Indian Residential School were cut off from their communities and families; stripped of
their language and culture; and subjected to abuse and severe labour, hunger, and abuse. The
Secwepemc People are indigenous to the south central region of British Columbia. The Secwepemc
Nation is also called the Shuswap Nation, more so by non indigenous people, which is an English
version of Secwepemc. Currently, the Nation is comprised of seventeen separate bands; however, prior
to a smallpox epidemic in 1862 which drastically reduced the population, there were thirty two bands

Analytic Hierarchy Process And Analytic Network Process
2.3.2 MCDA Models Related to Thesis Analytic Hierarchy Process and Analytic Network Process
There are different methods to solve multi criteria decision making problems. Analytic Hierarchy
Process (AHP) and Analytic Network Process (ANP) are two methods introduced by Tomas Saaty.
AHP tries to solve the decision problem by modeling it in a hierarchy while ANP is used when the
problem is so complex that cannot be modeled as a hierarchy. This complexity occurs because of the
effect of criteria on each other or the effect of alternatives on criteria. The Analytic Network Process is
a generalization of the Analytic Hierarchy Process. ANP approach comprises four steps [87]:
Step 1: Model construction and problem structuring: The problem should be stated clearly and
decomposed into a rational system like a network
Step 2: Pairwise comparisons and priority vectors: In ANP, like AHP, pairs of decision elements at
each cluster are compared with respect to their importance towards their control criteria. In addition,
interdependencies among criteria of a cluster must also be examined pairwise; the influence of each
element on other elements can be represented by an eigenvector. The relative importance values are
determined with Saaty s scale.
Step 3: Supermatrix formation: The Supermatrix concept is similar to the Markov chain process. To
obtain global priorities in a system with interdependent influences, the local priority vectors are
entered in the appropriate columns of a

Manager Interview Essay
I chose to interview Regina Geis, who holds the administrative role as acting supervisor for the
County Mental Health adult day program, which provides services for individuals with intellectual
disabilities. Ms. Geis has held this position for 15 months. This is her first managerial position within
a human service agency. Her style of management has changed over this short period of time. She
feels that she is now more direct with her direction with staff. She stated, Maybe now I come across as
a little bit cold. But I have learned that I now have to use the least amount of words to get my point
across.
Ms. Geis feels that to be an effective leader one must demonstrate with a high level of confidence,

She replied with Linear like Dr. Sprague (agency CEO).
Ms. Geis feels that the communication skills that one must possess in order to make advancements in
management are that one must be an effective communicator, know the work environment, and the
people you work with.
Edmondson (2009) discusses four different basic communication styles. The first style is expressive
which have a tendency to speak quickly, focus on the big picture, and have a high energy level. They
can be perceived as unpredictable, vain, or excessively jovial. Next are systematic who tend to focus
on small details, not on the larger picture, and try to avoid conflicts. The third type listed is
sympathetic. These individuals focus on people and relationships. They are good listeners and so
concern for everyone s needs. Sympathetics also do not like be at odds with others. Lastly, the fourth
communication style identified is directs who generally keep dialogue short and are perceived as a
multitaskers. The study recommends that the individual discover her own communication style and
adjust the style according to the situation.
Grant and Taylor (2014) conducted a study which identified six essential communication traits that
can aid women to demonstrate confidence: (1) starting strong, (2) staying succinct, (3)
dimensionalizing content, (4) owning voice, (5) controlling movement, and (6) projecting warmth (p.

Essay about Marriage Without Love in Henrik Ibsen s A...
Marriage Without Love in Henrik Ibsen s A Doll s House
In his play, A Doll?s House, Henrik Ibsen shows a marriage built only on appearances, and not love.
Both Nora the wife, and Torvald the husband, pretend they are in love throughout the story. However,
love should be patient and kind, and their love is anything but that. Nora treats her husband as a father
figure. Her feelings towards Torvald are more about dependence than love. Torvald treats Nora like a
child or a pet. He gets very angry and frustrated with Nora, and he does not truly love her. True love is
perfect, not angry, controlling, and dependent as Nora and Torvald are to each other. Throughout the
story, Torvald is constantly angry with Nora. He also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
ruined my whole future.?(Ibsen 916). Torvald has no compassion for her. He does not care that she
took out the loan to save his life. Torvald just wants to order Nora around. His love is not true, but it is
an angry petty obsession.
Several critics also saw Torvald as controlling and obsessive. Each critic noticed the change in
Torvald?s personality when something was not perfect in his home. Clement Scott said, ?Helmer is
very angry indeed. He forgets all his affection and endearment; he can only think of his personality
injury? (222). Scott also said, ?Helmer?s attitude towards his child wife is natural but unreasonable?
(222). Besides being angry towards Nora, Torvald is also controlling. Forbidding Nora from eating
candy reveals Torvald?s controlling side. Edmund Gosse said, ? Her doctor and her husband have told
her not to give way to her passion for ?candy? in any of its seductive forms?? (220). He forbids Nora
from eating candy because he does not want her teeth to become rotten. This shows how shallow he is.
Torvald is so obsessed with Nora being perfect, that he really is not in love with her. ? Helmer only
sees the attractiveness of this love which lies intoxicatingly over her silent farewell?(Salome 229).
Torvald is mean, shallow, and does not truly love his wife.
Not only does Torvald treat Nora badly, but he also treats her like a child. He speaks down to her.
Torvald has many pet names for Nora. He says things to her like ?When did my little squirrel

Fundamental Fury Essay
Fundamental Fury is one of the most thrilling and breathtaking rides you will ever experience. Anyone
who loves a fast roller coaster will be sure to love Fundamental Fury. In contrast to most coasters,
Fundamental Fury has a fast, technologically advanced, hydraulic launch at the beginning of the ride,
accelerating the coaster to over 250 km/h in a time of just 5 seconds. Fundamental Fury is themed to
fundamental particles and how violent they can be when they interact with each other. During the ride,
the coaster trains pass very close to other sections of the track, further emphasizing the extreme and
thrilling nature of the ride. Foliage surrounding the ride is mainly comprised of tall and dense
evergreen trees. Contrary to most roller ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although fundamental particles, such as quarks and leptons, make up everything in the entire
universe, they are of little knowledge to the public. Absence of public recognition and interest is one
of the major reasons Fundamental Fury is themed the way it is. Color is a scientific term used to
describe different types of subatomic particles, and Fundamental Fury incorporates this concept into
the color of the roller coaster tracks. The launch track is colored a bright cyan, while the rest of the
roller coaster is colored a vibrant purple chroma. Dense evergreen trees surround many elements of
the ride, providing a beautiful backdrop that contrasts nicely with the ride. Onlookers can watch the
roller coaster train appear and disappear as it weaves through the frondescence. Since evergreen trees
are naturally very thick, they act as excellent sound barriers, sparing nearby people from the roar of
the hydraulic launch. Walkways adjacent to Fundamental Fury have large displays showcasing what
the ride experience is like, along with fun facts about science and fundamental particles. A number of
science related booths surround the ride, significantly enriching the ride experience for anyone
interested in how and why things

Safe Sex On College Campuses
Trying to choose a theory is never an easy task. In my opinion, there can be a group of six individuals,
each given the task of picking a theory to utilize, and every one of them could potentially pick a
different theory. The reason being, everyone has their own personal experiences and understanding of
what works best, or feels more comfortable executing. With health education, there are many theories
available to choose from, because of that, guidelines were developed. According to Hayden, there are
a total of five theories and they are as followed: 1. Identify the health issue or problem and the
population affected 2. Gather information about the issues or population or both 3. Identify possibly
reasons or causes for the problem 4. Identify ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my opinion, safe sex on college campuses would not be as much of an issue if practicing safe sex
were promoted more. According to Dr. Berman, only 22 schools in the nation currently require sex
education in schools. It can be understood that this subject is something people believe parents should
cover. However, let s be honest, not all teenagers want to talk about sex in general with their parents.
When the matter is not taken more serious at earlier ages, the behavior and acceptance of having
unsafe sex possibly continues on into adulthood. According to O Sullivan, the practice of unsafe sex is
most commonly due to an individual s lack of knowledge of what safe sex actually mean and what all
is included. They believe that safe sex is just another form of birth control. However, safe sex is not
just a method of birth control, it includes other components, but most importantly, a means of
preventing one from receiving or passing along

Why Play Is Play Essay
When was the last time you played a game? Not for exercise or as part of an office team building day,
it is just for fun. Play is nature training for our life. Everyone is among the sea of eager faces to play.
When we talk about play, the first thing we will think that the right of play is only a child does. Play
may allow the children to use their creativity while developing their imagination, physical and
emotional strength. Play is easy to recognise in children and animals such as chase. But what does it
looks like in adults? How we play is as unique to an individual as a fingerprint . Play could be simply
goofing off with friends, sharing jokes with a co worker, building a snowman in the yard, playing
fetch with pets, a game of charades at a party, or going for a bike ride with your friend with no
destination in mind. You can play on your own or with a pet, but for greater benefits, play should
involve at least one other person and away from the sensory overload of electronic gadgets.
I know what you are thinking: play is at the very bottom of you ever expanding your to do list. ...

inevitable part of life. That is why play also important for adult too. They need to relieve their stress

playing fetch with a dog. As we know, laughter is a powerful antidote to stress and pain. Nobody can
deny that play is fun. In addition, fun can trigger the release of endorphins, which are the body s
natural feel good chemicals. Endorphins promote an overall sense of well being and can even

Comparing the Application of Integrated Marketing...
During the last decade of the twentieth century, the concept of integrated marketing communications
(IMC) received considerable attention from practitioners and academics alike, and that interest has
continued into the new millennium (e.g., Bearden and Madden 1996; Cornelissen and Lock 2000;
Duncan, Schultz, and Patti 2005; Garretson and Burton 2005; Nowak and Phelps 1994; Schultz and
Kitchen 2000a; Schumann, Artis, and Rivera 2001). As the marketplace has become more fragmented
over the years, organizations have embraced IMC as a means to effectively and efficiently target and
attract the splintering mass market through the transmission of a unified message across all contact
points between organizations and their consumers. Whether the ... Show more content on

For instance, an ad that contains a direct response tool (e.g., a coupon), a public relations appeal (e.g.,
support of an esteemed social cause), and brand advertising (e.g., depiction and description of the
offering) would reflect the integrated communication form of IMC. A key outcome of this approach is
the acquisition of consumer information that is captured when consumers respond to direct response
tools, sales promotions, and the like (Nowak and Phelps 1994).
The one voice approach reflects a firm s focus on a single positioning strategy that emphasizes unity
among brand/ image advertising, direct response advertising, public relations, and consumer sales
promotions at the outset of a promotional campaign (Reilly 1991; Snyder 1991). In this approach, the
position, message, or theme is what ultimately guides an organization s IMC decisions, which
ostensibly could be rendered independently by the firm s advertising, public relations, and sales
promotion agencies (Nowak and Phelps 1994).
The third approach, coordinated marketing communication campaigns, stresses the need to integrate
the activities of different marketing communication disciplines (e.g., sales promotions, advertising,
and public relations) in

A Brief Look at Bob Marley and the Wailers
Me only have one ambition, y know. I only have one thing I really like to see happen. I like to see
mankind live together Black, White, Chinese, everyone that s all (Bob Marley). Bob Marley s main
goal was to bring people together through his music, and influence everyone he could to become a
better person. Throughout Bob Marley s music career, he didn t know what kind of artist he wanted to
be until later in life, and once he knew what kind of artist he wanted to be, he reached out to people
and made many people enjoy reggae music and really understand the message in his music, which was
not to hate or discriminate because we are all equal.
On February 6, 1945 in Nine mile, Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica, Norval Sinclair Marley, a European
Jamaican captain of the Royal Marines, and Cedella Malcolm an eighteen year old African Jamaican,
had a baby boy together named Robert Nesta Marley, later known as Bob Marley, because a Jamaican
Passport official reversed his first and middle name. When Norval and Cedella wanted to get married,
Norvals family did not approve. They did not think a Captain of the Royal Marines should be
marrying an African Jamaican woman who was not wealthy, and could not really do anything with her
life. Although Norvals family did not want them to be married they still got married, but it turns out
Norval was not that great of a father or Husband. As Bob was growing up, his father Norval was
barely around, he never got to see Bob grow up.

Women In King Arthur s Knights Of The Round Table
The Woman s Image So much for equality. In King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table by
Roger Lacelyn Green, women are evil, seductive temptresses, and liars.
First of all, women in this version of the story are depicted as evil. Give me the head of this knight
who but now drew the sword which the damsel brought. . . . Evil woman! he cried (p. 25). In this
quote, the Lady of the Lake is demanding the he ad of Sir Balyn because King Arthur owes her a
favor. Rather than just saying you are evil he uses her sex to discriminate her, implying she is evil
simply because she is a woman. and to speak my last word of warning . . . Have good care of the
sword Excalibur, and of the magic scabbard of it and beware of the evil woman who shall steal it from
you, she who shall be the mother of the evil knight who shall strike you down upon the field of
Camlann (p. 63). In this quote, Merlin is warning Arthur about Morgana Le Fe and how she plans to
steal Excalibur and the scabbard that protects him. This is another instant where women are put
forward as evil.

Themes Of Monster By Walter Dean Myers
Monster by Walter Dean Myers has varied themes that the author wants the reader to take away after
reading the novel. Monster is about a sixteen year old named Steve Harmon that was accused of
felony murder. Harmon has never committed a crime before and the novel is his version of a movie
script; the reader only knows what he writes down. Harmon has his own notes throughout the script
and he describes everything that is going on while the trial goes on. Evidently, the theme for Monster
is that telling the truth will depend on the future. In the view of this theme, there are numerous points
in the text that resemble it. In the text, it states, Mr. Harmon did go into the store with the purpose of...

The text states, CUT TO: STEVE sitting in back of van. He holds his hands out in front of his face.
They are shaking. CUT TO: STEVE on the stand (Myers 222). These stage directions show that
Harmon does not know where he is heading. We know that Haron is on the stand and has to answer
questions. He is only a teenager and lying in court can have a large effect on his life. Also in the text,
it states Harmon s name and to the right it says nervously in parenthesis. This also shows that he is
stressed and having anxiety while on trial. This relates to the theme because if anyone would lie on
while on trial, it can jeopardize a free life. The text also states, STEVE spreads his arms to hug O
BRIEN, but she stiffens and turns to pick up her papers... when Miss O Brien looked at me, after we
had won the case, what did she see that caused her to turn away (Myers 276, 281). The stage
directions and Harmon s own notes show that O Brien thought that he was guilty. Even though
Harmon was claimed not guilty, it does not mean that he did not commit the crime. In addition, this is
Harmon s movie; he could be lying and writing down whatever he wants. This relates to the theme
because lying could show true colors to others. O Brien thinks of Harmon as a Monster and someone
that cannot be

Three Brothers, the Baker, and the Bear A long, long, time ago in a far away land lived three brothers,
Alexander, Eliot, and Janik. The brothers lived poorly with their old parents in a village named

and Janik ran ahead in a search for food. Five minutes from their home resides the nearest bakery,

Analysis Of In Defense Of The Insanity Defense
The current American Justice System has many issues, one in particular is the insanity defense.
Defendants have used this plea in courts for many years, which have led to massive debates. The
insanity plea weighs heavily in our society. A society that demands for justice. However, some people
praise it as if it was sent from the heavens above. On the other hand, there are many people who view
it as an unnecessary evil. The insanity defense is rooted in a basic principle of justice; this it is unfair
to hold persons responsible for their actions when they don t know, or can t control, what they are
doing (Worth 16), it may be true that there are people out there who are truly unaware of their actions
while committing a crime, but if they are unaware should these people still be held responsible and
punished for the crime? In the editorial, In Defense of the Insanity Defense , by Robert L. Scandoff,
the author uses credible sources, counterarguments, and does not cherry pick information; however, in
the article Abolish the Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity Plea , by the Lancaster News Era, the author
uses cherry picking, connotation, and has no sources. Being able to identify cherry picking and
conformational bias in a writer s work is important because these writing techniques can either liberate
a criminal or imprison a mentally ill person.

A Research Study On Selecting A Committee
Selecting a committee is a very important step in the process of preparing for a dissertation. As the
researcher engage in the process and in conjunction with the committee chair and members the goal
will be to define the research topic, develop the researchers proposal and engage in the process of
drafting while critiquing the entire research in an attempt to compose and ensure the researcher
completes his or her dissertation.
Scholars Wu and Beaunae (2014) suggests, the process of finishing a doctoral dissertation is a process
that requires the researcher to have dedication, make many life altering sacrifices as they engage in
multiple theoretical, practical, supervisory and committee team challenges. As I embark on this
daunting journey there have been several professors that have positively impacted my ability to stay
the course and committee to this process. A special thanks goes to professor Lin, Jameson and
Hickman. All three have been influential in my research development as they have fostered an ethical
learning environment that has strengthened my desire and dedication to complete this doctoral
dissertation journey. Scholars Schopfel and Prost (2013) suggests the selection and roles of the
dissertation committee members are critical. The committee chair has broad decision making powers
throughout the process as he or she approves the topic, the consultation process and every chapter and
line within. Each member thereafter should and are often considered

In The Mood For Love Film Analysis
Kar Wai s film, In The Mood For Love, is a Chinese melodrama, set in Hong Kong, during 1962. This
film is not a traditional romantic drama, but rather it shows the irony of love, which connects to a
larger audience. Throughout this film, there are many unique camera shots, such as using a mirror to
be dramatic, but mysterious. This can also be said for the long shot scenes in the apartment building
that both of the main characters, Mrs. Chan and Mr. Chow live with their respected partners. Within
the entire film, there are many scenes where a person is seen, but their face remains anonymous. There
are countless shots that give off a mysterious tone through the mise en scène, from having the camera
behind a dirty window, to only showing a person s back.
As the sequence begins, in Shot 1, the audience sees what looks to be a lamp with trees on it in the
foreground, while a buzzing noise is ringing in the background. As the audience, we have no
knowledge as to what this symbolizes. Within a few seconds of the lamp being on screen, there is a cut
to a new camera, Shot 2, showing a door with a small window in it. Through this window we see the
back of a woman walking to open her door. Another camera swap, and the audience have now seen
Mrs. Chan s face, with a dark background behind her. She is wearing a one piece outfit, which looks to
be inspired by the 1960s as it is very colorful. There are stripes of red, blue, yellow, green, and even
brown travelling all the way up to the top of her neck. Her hair looks to be very proper, and elegant
looking for Hong Kong in 1962, when women were abiding the standards of couples and proper
decorum of women, which was the era this movie was shot to look like. There is then a conversation
between Mrs. Chan and another woman, whose face we do not see throughout the whole conversation.
Shot 3 is one continuous shot throughout the entire almost forty second long conversation between
Mrs. Chan and the mysterious woman. After the woman declined to chat with Mrs. Chan, there is
another cut, Shot 4, where the camera is pointed towards Mrs. Chan, who is facing the door which was
just previously shut in her face. For about five seconds there is no sound and very little movement as

Feudal Class Structure Paper
Part One: Feudal Class Structure The feudal class structure focuses on the power in the society and
that is centered on being able to get things done in a group or individually. In society, there is
inequality and equality that exist in groups specifically classes giving some of the group s power over
the others. The taproot of power is economic power, whoever controls the economy has the most
power because they control the wealth for the groups as an entirety. Where you are in the economic
structure is where you have powers and interests specific to that position. The kingdom is like a mafia,
the Kings power is equivalent to the barons, who are given gifts of land called fiefs, there are farming
communities called manors that are ruled by knights, based on military power. There is a laboring

Institutional Review Boards are tasked with carrying out two main forms of review: initial review and

Initial review of an experiment occurs before it is approved. Coleman remarks, This review

The HHS is required to oversee IRBs in order to ensure that they are functioning properly.
Institutional Review Boards cannot function properly without being overseen by the HHS, and
therefore lack of oversight would lead to weakened protection of human participants. An Institutional
Review Board may not fulfill its purpose without the HHS s close oversight. Two agencies within the
Department of Health and Human Services, the Office for Protection from Research Risks (OPRR)
and the FDA, are both tasked with reviewing IRBs. The OPRR utilizes an assurance document to
oversee how IRBs are functioning. All IRBs using HHS funding must have an assurance document on
file with the OPRR. Coleman adds, The assurance is a written statement of an institution s
requirements for its IRB and human subject protections (Coleman et al. 170). Meanwhile, FDA uses
research investigators to determine whether IRBs are functioning in an effective manner. The OPRR
and the FDA share the task of oversight of IRBs, and do so through documentation and research
investigators respectively. Without this system of review, Institutional Review Boards would not be
checked by any part of government, and thus would have free reign to do as they please. Thus, the

Shakespeare s Critique Of Roman Empire And Beliefs
Shakespeare s Critique of Roman Empire and Beliefs: In Julius Caesar, William Shakespeare writes
the story of Julius Caesar Reign over Rome, his demise and the conflicts that his death created
between mighty Romans. Throughout the play, the reader can see the overall message about power
and how power hungry people are, but it isn t the only message. Reading more in depth into Julius
Caesar I came upon the question: How does Shakespeare s Julius Caesar show his religious stance and
critique towards the Roman empire? I chose this question not only because of the hidden critique that
he inserted but to explore more on his opinions of the empire of Rome. It s interesting that
Shakespeare would have this kind of message in his writing because ... Show more content on

Having developed only a few years ago, SNS have had the most effect on adolescence. Adolescence

Compression Technology Essay
Chapter 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1 What Is Compression Technology ? Compression is representation of data in a compact form.
Compression of data, bit rate reduction or source coding involves encoding of data using fewer
number of bits. Compression are of two types lossy and lossless. Lossless compression removes such
data bits whose removal does not affects the information of the data on the other hand no information
losses takes place in lossless compression. Lossy compression reduces bits by finding unnecessary
information and then removing them . The process of reduction of file data size is referred as data
compression. 1.1.1 Why Do We Still Need Compression ? Compression Technology is used to
efficiently use the storage space which saves transmission capacity and time of transmission that leads
to saving of resources and money. In spite of the advances in the storage media and transmission

Investment and Debt Capacity
Stock Repurchase
Repurchase of stock can be viewed in each of the following way: investment, financing, shareholder
distribution and control issue.
Repurchase of stock can be a way to use firm s excess debt capacity. By doing so, firm can lower the
cost of equity financing. If debt financing is more flexible and cheap, replace equity financing with
debt financing is a good way to lower the weighted cost of capital. In this sense, such action is a
financing issue because it controls the cost of financing.
On the other hand, repurchase of stock can adjust shareholder distribution. If shareholders consist of
most individual investors, they may require more dividends or other forms of profit sharing. Firm can

To decide when to sell the property, we analyze the remaining present value of future cash flow of a
hotel at different point of time in its life cycle. We further assume that when the hotel is sold, the
selling price is set so that present value of future cash flow equals the 10% margin.
We assume $50 revenue per room night of a typical 150 room hotel, and one year has 360 days. Sales
level for each year in the life cycle connects to the occupancy rate. From the graph of Exhibit 9, we
get different occupancy rate for the whole life cycle. It reaches the peak 100% at year 8, and after year
10, it declines almost linearly to 10% in year 30.
We can see that if Marriot sells the hotel before opening, the selling price would be $1.63 million at
time 0. After the peak, let s say, year 9, the selling price would be $ 1.55 million at time 9. We can also
see that in fact the max value of PV is at year 4, which has $2.85 million in PV at 15% margin.
Marriot would free up more capital if it sells the hotel before opening, but instead it would lose more
operating profit. If Marriot is in short of capital, it could sell the hotel up front so that the freed up
capital can be invested in other profitable projects. Selling after the peak is a good choice if Marriot
wants to enjoy the increasing operating profit before the peak. Shareholder value can be added if the
return on freed up capital exceeds the profit loss from

The Department of Defense states that their mission is to provide the military forces needed to deter
war (Department of Defense). However, local law enforcement agencies in the United States are not
fighting a war, therefore, making it absurd for SWAT teams to possess military equipment. Fort
Wayne, a city in Indiana with a violent crime rate of around 3.88 per 1000 people, does not need
military weapons and vehicles, yet they have an arsenal of more than two dozen assault rifles...
armored vehicles... a grenade launcher, (H) and automatic rifles. It is very likely that these weapons
are rarely even used, which means that they are stored somewhere in the city. This storage of surplus
military grade weapons is dangerous for the community. In Utah, guns received from the Defense
Department have been misplaced, which means that there are people in the community with military
grade weapons. Additionally, the loss of a gun means that the federal government can penalize an
entire state s law enforcement agencies, (H), which means shutting down every force in the state for
several months (H). Militarization of local police forces is not uncommon, and many cities across
America receive military equipment from the government. From local cities, like Santa Barbara, to
ones across the country, like Richland County in South Carolina (I), law enforcement agencies across
the nation have access to deadly military weapons that can be unjustly used in their communities. This
availability of military equipment for law enforcement agencies is a dangerous risk that the country

Compare The Red Scare And The Red Scare
The Crucible VS. The Red Scare The Red Scare and The Salem Witch Trials were both events that left
a mark in American history. The Red Scare began in 1917 and took place across the United States. The
Red Scare was known as the widespread promotion of anti communism. The Salem Witch Trials
began in 1692 and took place in Salem, Massachusetts. The Salem Witch Trials were various court
hearings and prosecutions of people in Salem accused of Witchcraft. Arthur Miller wrote The
Crucible, a play about The Salem Witch Trials, to send a message to Senator Joseph McCarthy, the
face of The Red Scare. Even though both of these events took place at completely different times their
connection remains profound. The Crucible and The Red Scare have various similarities and allegories
that make both of these events connect despite the gap of time. Arthur Miller, wrote The Crucible with
the intention of comparing The Red Scare to The Salem Witch Trials. One of the many similarities
between The Red Scare and The Salem Witch Trials is the way both events started. Both events were
started by people making false accusations. During The Red Scare people were accused of being
communists. At one of his speeches in Wheeling, West Virginia, in 1950, Senator Joseph McCarthy
claimed to hold in my hand a list of individuals who were both serving in government and
participating in the communist party. (Brinkley2) Thanks to McCarthy s popular style, people never

was no time for indecision. He could keep his calm, cool manner and think a situation through before
reacting. I think that being able to think things through no matter the situation speaks volumes to what
a leader needs to be. He also showed that not every situation needed to be thought out at that time. He
was known to have thought of contingency plans prior to actions as to cut out reaction time needed
due to him thinking it through before implementation and able to switch tactics on the fly. He showed
this attribute multiple times but one example sticks out in my mind s eye. We had set up a forward
position in Ramadi in what we thought was a hostile minimal area. Once we had set up our hasty area
for command and control of an impending raid we came under small arms fire and a mortar attack. He
had set up sectors of fire and counter fire areas before we had set up even though we were told
numerous times that it was not needed. Due to his intellect, he had taken it into advisement but had
planned on it not being as such and we were able to respond in kind and repel any such attack. I
learned from him that no matter what happens you need to think things through and show a strong
intellect so your soldiers are confident in your decisions and believe in you. BG Jones was a lead from

Analysis Of The Book Stepdaughters And Love Medicine...
Family
Stepdaughters and Love Medicine
Family is interpreted many different ways by many different people. In these two stories
Stepdaughters by Max Apple and Love Medicine by Louise Erdrich, we will view the family
dynamics differences and similarities. In the story Stepdaughters our author paints a very vivid image
of a broken family. Starting with the death of our character Stephanie s father when she was a very
small child, but also the fact that her mother Helen had remarried several times clues us in to their
incompletion as a whole family. Apple clearly states the newest stepdad saying, I m stepdad number
three trying to stay on the sidelines (129).A nonparticipant parent would suggest that he really is not
sure if he is going to be around to much longer. In our story Love Medicine our author also paints an
image of a broken family. Our character Lipsha comes from a dysfunctional background only to be
cared for in what may seem to others as a dysfunctional situation as well. Starting out as a youth he
was told his mother did not want him, only to be cared for by someone who never lets him forget he
was rescued by her. Grandma Kashpaw would tell him he was the biggest waste on the planet and she
saved him from his mother who wanted to drown him. Lipsha felt there was not that many thank you
left to be said (Erdrich 376). Although our two stories have images of broken homes. Stepdaughters

traits after hearing Miss Rachel s reaction to the Tom Robinson trial, and while Dill and the Finch
children eat cake at Miss Maudie s house. Don t talk like that, Dill, said Aunt Alexandra. It s not
becoming to a child. It s cynical. It ain t cynical, Miss Alexandra. Tellin the truth s not cynical, is it?
The way you tell it, it is. (Lee 287) Through this quote reader s can inquire that everybody is aware

I think I ll be a clown when I get grown, said Dill. Jem and i stopped in our tracks. Yes sir, a clown, he
said. There ain t one thing in this world I can do about folks except laugh, so I m going to join the
circus and laugh my head off. (Lee 289) In the quotation, the reaction from Jem and Scout define how
odd Dill s remark is. There is also no prior context of the topic being discussed, therefore, the thought
randomly came to Dill s mind. These aspects of Dill are represented by the media through a fictional
movie character named Chunk. Chunk, is from the movie The Goonies. Chunk is a chronic liar, he has
told so many lies to his friends they don t know whether to believe a single word he says. For
example, he tells his friends that Micheal Jackson came to his house to use the bathroom, and that he

Creature Symbolism
Towards the latter part of the novel, the Creature symbolizes the point in the human psyche when Man
starts to become inherently bad when he gains more reward from doing wrong than he does from
doing what is right. It is seen in his final moments with De Lacey s family. For a period of several
weeks, the Creature waits patiently as he observes De Lacey s family in order to connect with them
and embody their language as his own, but they eventually abandon him due to his grotesque form. In
their first interaction with each them, he sees their expression as a horror and consternation on
beholding [him], (Shelley 122)[.] Agatha and Safie faint and scream at the sight of him next to their
father as Felix proceeds to attack the Creature. At this point, the Creature is at the point of no return as
he realizes that he will never be accepted by any human and he is destined to live a life of damnation.
At this very moment, the Creature s innocence becomes so engulfed by a feeling of hatred and spite
for humanity that he believes he can, with pleasure have destroyed the cottage and its inhabitants, and
have glutted me with their shrieks and misery, (Shelley 124). Irving Buchen describes this stage in the
creature s life as an emergence of, limited evolution of a human animal who exists solely in the
hermetic seal of his individuality within a natural, not a human, environment (Buchen). This is another
way of saying that the Creature has resorted to his savage instincts: the thirst

Researchers estimates that one in ten children and adolescents suffers from illness severe enough to
cause some level of psychiatric problems in the United States (Gonazles, 2005). Internationally, the
World Health Organization predicted has by year 2020 individuals suffering from psychiatric
disorders will increase by over 50% to become one of the most five common cause of mortality,
morbidity and impairment in children (Department of Health and Human Services, 2000 as cited in
Gonalzes, 2005). Sadly, counties with a shortage of mental health service providers are rural counties,
and primary care physicians provide most mental health services in rural areas if services are available
at all. In addition less than 20% of psychotropic medications dispensed in the United States, whether
rural or urban practice settings, are practitioners with mental health training (Campbell, Kearns
Patchin, 2006). This paper will attempt to explore the benefits of expanding School Base Mental
Health programs and improving access to mental health treatment for in rural or urban areas and
minimize stigma.
Introduction
According to (Whitley Henwood, 2014) the right to life, in its most basic definition, has been
encroached for people living with severe mental challenges. Furthermore studies found that people
with psychiatric problems have significantly reduced life expectancies, as well as higher standardized

Pain Pump Balls
Introduction and Clinical Question
My current position is a clinical lead nurse on a surgical/orthopedic floor, we receive a wide variety of
patients with a large concentration of them being post operative knee or hip replacements. Over the
last year and a half our surgeons and anesthesiologists have implemented the use of continuous
peripheral nerve blocks (CPNB), often referred to as pain pump balls, specifically we use the OnQ
balls. The On Q infusion device is an elastomeric device with a flow regulator that controls the flow of
a local anesthetic agent through a peripheral catheter (Burnett, 2011). The pain pump balls are
intended to decrease post op pain and maximize patient s ability to participate in physical therapy. The

I then switched to a more specific database, CINAHL and used keywords: nerve, block, continuous
and received over 170 results. It is rather difficult to find raw data, such as an individual set of vitals
or pain assessment, that has not already been interpreted and put to theory but, data regarding the
pumps themselves were made easily accessible. OnQ states their pumps are filled with 550 mls of the
anesthetic and set to a standard flow rate of 6 mls per hour (Postoperative pain, 2016). By using this
data and determining how many hours the pump will last the patient then becomes meaningful and
then considered information.
Information
The information section of the continuum is where data is put in context. One of the studies I came
across found that with the use of CPNB s pain scores were significantly lower at the 12 hours
postoperative time point (P = 0.002) and at 2 weeks postoperatively (Ding, 2015). There were also
studies that looked at how the use of CPNB s expedited the process of rehabilitation stating with the
block there was a noted decrease in the time until adequate mobilization (Machi, 2015). A study of
155 post op joint replacement patients looked specifically at pain scale ratings before and during
therapy, they found that overall, baseline at rest as well as with activity pain scores were less in the
group with continuous nerve block, and mean opioid consumption was significantly less in those
patients[with CPNB s] (Ardon,

Treaty Of Versailles
Treaties are formally concluded and ratified agreement between countries which are solutions to solve
bigger problems. Most of them contain promising resolutions, but sometimes they do not succeed in
solving the conflict. When a treaty does not encompass the smart solution, the problem can
deteriorate. The Treaty of Versailles did not achieve its intended purpose which led to further
suffering, conflict, and combat. Beginning in the summer of 1914 and lasting four long years, World
War I, was a revolutionary war between the Allies, Central Powers, and Japan. Militarism, alliances,
imperialism, and nationalism were among the reasons for the world war. There were over seventeen

Why Is William Kidd Alive
William Kidd
England in the 18th century, pirates were alive, and the british empire was expanding. There were
many new techniques that were brought in from immigrants that increased the productivity. Many
pirates sailed the waters in search for treasures.
Scotland 1654, William Kidd was born. Little did his parents know how big his future would be.
William grew up to be a pirate, Kidd and his crew set sail around England in the 1700 s. Kidd and his
crew attacked the Quedagh Merchant, a large American ship located on the Indian Ocean, he found
out he was on the wrong side of the british government. He was later hanged in London, 1707. Before
Kidd died he kept a journal about his life. I do not care so much for the death of my gunner, as for
other passages of my voyage, for i have good friends in England who will bring me off for that. Kidd
writes in his journal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Over time he has gained way more popularity. Due to the treasure and his signal he has gained so
much popularity.
I think Kidd made a bad decision robbing the ship because it got him killed. If i were alive then or a
pirate then i would have not robbed the ship. If Kidd was alive now he probably wouldn t do a pirate,
due to the fact there aren t many pirates now days. If he lived in America then they wouldn t have
been able to rob the sip because they would be inlined with the American government.
In the book, the main character was a cabin boy while in real life Kidd was the captain. Kidd was very
famous and many people favored him. He was nice to everyone who was nice to him. The book and
Kidds life are kind of similar because they both sailed on ships. They both had a big crew, but in the
novel the pirates and british betrayed eachother while in real life Kidd and his crew worked together.
William Kidd was great pirate who died because of a dumb mistake he

Superior Security
Networking Report: Superior Security
Superior Security is a company designed to protect families and businesses in the metro Atlanta area.
Superior Security is a company established in 1996 by Levi Atkinson with the protection of families
and businesses in mind. Levi wanted to be able to give the community he lived in and those around
him a feeling of security. Superior Security has grown into a company that has now serviced and
installed countless security systems throughout the Atlanta and Metro area. Levi was often heard
telling employees the company motto Your security is our business . Levi wanted to start this business
and vetted his daughter Michelle Atkinson to take over the company after him.
I met Michelle as a previous student at Georgia State University and she mentioned to me that she was
working for Superior Security. I decided to reach out to her and inquire about the security business
that her father founded. Michelle stated that she hopes to also pass the ... Show more content on

Atkinson recommends that anyone entering into this career should learn the competition, and what
makes each company unique. She stated to know where each competitors strong points lay, and then
implement those points into your company. For example ADT is one of the largest security companies
in the nation, however their customers aren t satisfied. ADT s customers aren t satisfied because they
don t feel like a priority but instead just another number. Knowing the competitors weak points can
also be an advantage. Knowing these weak points enable your company to expand, filling the needs
those customers feel they aren t receiving. As far as installations, Michelle suggested if I had any other
questions I should talk with technicians. Technicians are the ones out in the homes installing the
equipment, technicians see more of the face to face customer interaction. Ms. Atkinson said that she
wanted to spread the business of security to students, so she wanted to implement an internship

The Eyes Were Watching God By Zora Neale Hurston
Many times when I read a piece of literature, I immediately look for the first signs of symbolism. I
analyze that particular symbol and how I believe it is to be presented throughout the narrative. In the
case of Their Eyes Were Watching God, I recognized that Janie s hair would have a significant place in
the themes of the novel. Within the opening paragraphs, Janie stares at herself in a picture and her
identity arises from her hair seen it was mah dress and mah hair Her identity then shifts to the color of
her skin Aw, aw! Ah m colored! (9), however the symbolism of her hair would be more powerful than
the color of her skin. After this particular passage, I realized that this is not a novel so much about race
as it is what it means to be a woman. Zora Neale Hurston is writing to an audience of women who will
identify with Janie the definition of femininity wrapped up in the hair. Even after her marriage to
Logan, she still has a thread of the passion for life and yearns for adventure. Logan reinforces the
beauty of her flowing hair because he runs his fingers through it and only after he stops she begin to
dream of flight. Many women enjoy having their beauty adored and when the adoration ceases they
might begin to question the sense of self. Janie begins to question her place in life and her freedom
comes in the form of a whistle from Joe Starks. She notices Joe Starks walking down the road and
runs to the water pump to gain his attention. Her heavy hair falls down

How The Process Of Human Digestion Works
How the process of human digestion works is it starts with your mouth, the digestion starts as soon
you take your first bite of your meal. When you chew it helps the process by making it easier for the
food to digest. Also the saliva mixes with the food so that it can form it into something that the body
can absorb and use. The next place the food goes is the pharynx (throat), then the esophagus or
swallowing tube. The esophagus gets the food from the throat to the stomach. After the stomach is the
small intestine it continues the breaking down process of the food by using enzymes released by the
pancreas and bile from the liver. There are 3 other organs that help the small intestine break down the
food we eat. They are pancreas, liver, and

Emotion Attribution Theory According To Schachter And Singer
Emotion Attribution Theory
According to Schachter and Singer (1962), emotion attribution theory is based on two factors of
emotions: physiological arousal and cognitive label. The two factor theory of emotion focuses on the
interaction between physical arousal and how we cognitively label that arousal. In their view, being
away from home and physical arousal may be interpreted as homesickness . The physical arousal is
the physical feeling for homesickness such as difficulty sleeping, loss of concentration, no appetite
and others. This theory then is extended by Pennebaker (1982) and be summarized. Firstly is about the

(1997), acculturation is referred to the process of cultural and psychological change that results
following meeting between cultures. There are four types of acculturation which is assimilation,
integration, separation and marginalization. Firstly, assimilation is the process of adapting the
dominant culture over their original cultural. Next, integration is adopting the host or dominant culture
while maintaining the origin culture. Then, separation is the process of rejecting a dominant culture in
order to preserving their original culture. Lastly, marginalization is rejecting both the culture of origin

  • 2. Separation And Education Of Young First Nations Children The ambition of the Canadian government in regard to First Nations People was to assimilate them into European culture and erase their culture from the country. Separation and education of young First Nations children was the major means to achieve their objective. With substantial involvement from the Christian churches, the residential school system was created and schools were built throughout the entire country. The Kamloops Indian Residential School was attended by students from the nations surrounding Kamloops including children from the Secwepemc Nation who occupied the much of the southern interior of British Columbia. The school was ran by the Roman Catholic Church. The Secwepemc children were no exception to the abominable conditions in the residential school systems facilities and the effects of these schools can last a lifetime. The students who attended the Kamloops Indian Residential School were cut off from their communities and families; stripped of their language and culture; and subjected to abuse and severe labour, hunger, and abuse. The Secwepemc People are indigenous to the south central region of British Columbia. The Secwepemc Nation is also called the Shuswap Nation, more so by non indigenous people, which is an English version of Secwepemc. Currently, the Nation is comprised of seventeen separate bands; however, prior to a smallpox epidemic in 1862 which drastically reduced the population, there were thirty two bands (Secwepemc Nation, ... • 3. Analytic Hierarchy Process And Analytic Network Process 2.3.2 MCDA Models Related to Thesis Analytic Hierarchy Process and Analytic Network Process There are different methods to solve multi criteria decision making problems. Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Analytic Network Process (ANP) are two methods introduced by Tomas Saaty. AHP tries to solve the decision problem by modeling it in a hierarchy while ANP is used when the problem is so complex that cannot be modeled as a hierarchy. This complexity occurs because of the effect of criteria on each other or the effect of alternatives on criteria. The Analytic Network Process is a generalization of the Analytic Hierarchy Process. ANP approach comprises four steps [87]: Step 1: Model construction and problem structuring: The problem should be stated clearly and decomposed into a rational system like a network Step 2: Pairwise comparisons and priority vectors: In ANP, like AHP, pairs of decision elements at each cluster are compared with respect to their importance towards their control criteria. In addition, interdependencies among criteria of a cluster must also be examined pairwise; the influence of each element on other elements can be represented by an eigenvector. The relative importance values are determined with Saaty s scale. Step 3: Supermatrix formation: The Supermatrix concept is similar to the Markov chain process. To obtain global priorities in a system with interdependent influences, the local priority vectors are entered in the appropriate columns of a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Manager Interview Essay I chose to interview Regina Geis, who holds the administrative role as acting supervisor for the County Mental Health adult day program, which provides services for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Ms. Geis has held this position for 15 months. This is her first managerial position within a human service agency. Her style of management has changed over this short period of time. She feels that she is now more direct with her direction with staff. She stated, Maybe now I come across as a little bit cold. She replied with Linear like Dr. Sprague (agency CEO). Ms. Geis feels that the communication skills that one must possess in order to make advancements in management are that one must be an effective communicator, know the work environment, and the people you work with. Edmondson (2009) discusses four different basic communication styles. The first style is expressive which have a tendency to speak quickly, focus on the big picture, and have a high energy level. They can be perceived as unpredictable, vain, or excessively jovial. Next are systematic who tend to focus on small details, not on the larger picture, and try to avoid conflicts. The third type listed is sympathetic. These individuals focus on people and relationships. They are good listeners and so concern for everyone s needs. Sympathetics also do not like be at odds with others. Lastly, the fourth communication style identified is directs who generally keep dialogue short and are perceived as a multitaskers. The study recommends that the individual discover her own communication style and adjust the style according to the situation. • 5. Essay about Marriage Without Love in Henrik Ibsen s A... Marriage Without Love in Henrik Ibsen s A Doll s House In his play, A Doll?s House, Henrik Ibsen shows a marriage built only on appearances, and not love. Both Nora the wife, and Torvald the husband, pretend they are in love throughout the story. However, love should be patient and kind, and their love is anything but that. Nora treats her husband as a father figure. Her feelings towards Torvald are more about dependence than love. Torvald treats Nora like a child or a pet. He gets very angry and frustrated with Nora, and he does not truly love her. True love is perfect, not angry, controlling, and dependent as Nora and Torvald are to each other. Throughout the story, Torvald is constantly angry with Nora. He also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... ruined my whole future.?(Ibsen 916). Torvald has no compassion for her. He does not care that she took out the loan to save his life. Torvald just wants to order Nora around. His love is not true, but it is an angry petty obsession. Several critics also saw Torvald as controlling and obsessive. Each critic noticed the change in Torvald?s personality when something was not perfect in his home. Clement Scott said, ?Helmer is very angry indeed. He forgets all his affection and endearment; he can only think of his personality injury? (222). Scott also said, ?Helmer?s attitude towards his child wife is natural but unreasonable? (222). Besides being angry towards Nora, Torvald is also controlling. Forbidding Nora from eating candy reveals Torvald?s controlling side. Edmund Gosse said, ? Her doctor and her husband have told her not to give way to her passion for ?candy? in any of its seductive forms?? (220). He forbids Nora from eating candy because he does not want her teeth to become rotten. This shows how shallow he is. Torvald is so obsessed with Nora being perfect, that he really is not in love with her. ? Helmer only sees the attractiveness of this love which lies intoxicatingly over her silent farewell?(Salome 229). Torvald is mean, shallow, and does not truly love his wife. Not only does Torvald treat Nora badly, but he also treats her like a child. He speaks down to her. Torvald has many pet names for Nora. He says things to her like ?When did my little squirrel ... Anyone who loves a fast roller coaster will be sure to love Fundamental Fury. In contrast to most coasters, Fundamental Fury has a fast, technologically advanced, hydraulic launch at the beginning of the ride, accelerating the coaster to over 250 km/h in a time of just 5 seconds. Fundamental Fury is themed to fundamental particles and how violent they can be when they interact with each other. During the ride, the coaster trains pass very close to other sections of the track, further emphasizing the extreme and thrilling nature of the ride. Foliage surrounding the ride is mainly comprised of tall and dense evergreen trees. Contrary to most roller ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although fundamental particles, such as quarks and leptons, make up everything in the entire universe, they are of little knowledge to the public. Absence of public recognition and interest is one of the major reasons Fundamental Fury is themed the way it is. Color is a scientific term used to describe different types of subatomic particles, and Fundamental Fury incorporates this concept into the color of the roller coaster tracks. The launch track is colored a bright cyan, while the rest of the roller coaster is colored a vibrant purple chroma. Dense evergreen trees surround many elements of the ride, providing a beautiful backdrop that contrasts nicely with the ride. Onlookers can watch the roller coaster train appear and disappear as it weaves through the frondescence. Since evergreen trees are naturally very thick, they act as excellent sound barriers, sparing nearby people from the roar of the hydraulic launch. Walkways adjacent to Fundamental Fury have large displays showcasing what the ride experience is like, along with fun facts about science and fundamental particles. A number of science related booths surround the ride, significantly enriching the ride experience for anyone interested in how and why things ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In my opinion, there can be a group of six individuals, each given the task of picking a theory to utilize, and every one of them could potentially pick a different theory. The reason being, everyone has their own personal experiences and understanding of what works best, or feels more comfortable executing. With health education, there are many theories available to choose from, because of that, guidelines were developed. According to Hayden, there are a total of five theories and they are as followed: 1. Identify the health issue or problem and the population affected 2. Gather information about the issues or population or both 3. Identify possibly reasons or causes for the problem 4. Identify ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In my opinion, safe sex on college campuses would not be as much of an issue if practicing safe sex were promoted more. According to Dr. Berman, only 22 schools in the nation currently require sex education in schools. It can be understood that this subject is something people believe parents should cover. However, let s be honest, not all teenagers want to talk about sex in general with their parents. When the matter is not taken more serious at earlier ages, the behavior and acceptance of having unsafe sex possibly continues on into adulthood. According to O Sullivan, the practice of unsafe sex is most commonly due to an individual s lack of knowledge of what safe sex actually mean and what all is included. They believe that safe sex is just another form of birth control. However, safe sex is not just a method of birth control, it includes other components, but most importantly, a means of preventing one from receiving or passing along ... During the last decade of the twentieth century, the concept of integrated marketing communications (IMC) received considerable attention from practitioners and academics alike, and that interest has continued into the new millennium (e.g., Bearden and Madden 1996; Cornelissen and Lock 2000; Duncan, Schultz, and Patti 2005; Garretson and Burton 2005; Nowak and Phelps 1994; Schultz and Kitchen 2000a; Schumann, Artis, and Rivera 2001). For instance, an ad that contains a direct response tool (e.g., a coupon), a public relations appeal (e.g., support of an esteemed social cause), and brand advertising (e.g., depiction and description of the offering) would reflect the integrated communication form of IMC. A key outcome of this approach is the acquisition of consumer information that is captured when consumers respond to direct response tools, sales promotions, and the like (Nowak and Phelps 1994). The one voice approach reflects a firm s focus on a single positioning strategy that emphasizes unity among brand/ image advertising, direct response advertising, public relations, and consumer sales promotions at the outset of a promotional campaign (Reilly 1991; Snyder 1991). In this approach, the position, message, or theme is what ultimately guides an organization s IMC decisions, which ostensibly could be rendered independently by the firm s advertising, public relations, and sales promotion agencies (Nowak and Phelps 1994). The third approach, coordinated marketing communication campaigns, stresses the need to integrate the activities of different marketing communication disciplines (e.g., sales promotions, advertising, and public relations) in ... Throughout Bob Marley s music career, he didn t know what kind of artist he wanted to be until later in life, and once he knew what kind of artist he wanted to be, he reached out to people and made many people enjoy reggae music and really understand the message in his music, which was not to hate or discriminate because we are all equal. On February 6, 1945 in Nine mile, Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica, Norval Sinclair Marley, a European Jamaican captain of the Royal Marines, and Cedella Malcolm an eighteen year old African Jamaican, had a baby boy together named Robert Nesta Marley, later known as Bob Marley, because a Jamaican Passport official reversed his first and middle name. When Norval and Cedella wanted to get married, Norvals family did not approve. They did not think a Captain of the Royal Marines should be marrying an African Jamaican woman who was not wealthy, and could not really do anything with her life. In King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table by Roger Lacelyn Green, women are evil, seductive temptresses, and liars. First of all, women in this version of the story are depicted as evil. • 14. Themes Of Monster By Walter Dean Myers Monster by Walter Dean Myers has varied themes that the author wants the reader to take away after reading the novel. Monster is about a sixteen year old named Steve Harmon that was accused of felony murder. Harmon has never committed a crime before and the novel is his version of a movie script; the reader only knows what he writes down. Harmon has his own notes throughout the script and he describes everything that is going on while the trial goes on. Evidently, the theme for Monster is that telling the truth will depend on the future. In the view of this theme, there are numerous points in the text that resemble it. The text states, CUT TO: STEVE sitting in back of van. He holds his hands out in front of his face. They are shaking. CUT TO: STEVE on the stand (Myers 222). These stage directions show that Harmon does not know where he is heading. We know that Haron is on the stand and has to answer questions. He is only a teenager and lying in court can have a large effect on his life. Also in the text, it states Harmon s name and to the right it says nervously in parenthesis. This also shows that he is stressed and having anxiety while on trial. This relates to the theme because if anyone would lie on while on trial, it can jeopardize a free life. The text also states, STEVE spreads his arms to hug O BRIEN, but she stiffens and turns to pick up her papers... when Miss O Brien looked at me, after we had won the case, what did she see that caused her to turn away (Myers 276, 281). The stage directions and Harmon s own notes show that O Brien thought that he was guilty. Even though Harmon was claimed not guilty, it does not mean that he did not commit the crime. In addition, this is Harmon s movie; he could be lying and writing down whatever he wants. This relates to the theme because lying could show true colors to others. However, some people praise it as if it was sent from the heavens above. On the other hand, there are many people who view it as an unnecessary evil. The insanity defense is rooted in a basic principle of justice; this it is unfair to hold persons responsible for their actions when they don t know, or can t control, what they are doing (Worth 16), it may be true that there are people out there who are truly unaware of their actions while committing a crime, but if they are unaware should these people still be held responsible and punished for the crime? This film is not a traditional romantic drama, but rather it shows the irony of love, which connects to a larger audience. Throughout this film, there are many unique camera shots, such as using a mirror to be dramatic, but mysterious. This can also be said for the long shot scenes in the apartment building that both of the main characters, Mrs. Chan and Mr. Chow live with their respected partners. Within the entire film, there are many scenes where a person is seen, but their face remains anonymous. There are countless shots that give off a mysterious tone through the mise en scène, from having the camera behind a dirty window, to only showing a person s back. As the sequence begins, in Shot 1, the audience sees what looks to be a lamp with trees on it in the foreground, while a buzzing noise is ringing in the background. As the audience, we have no knowledge as to what this symbolizes. Within a few seconds of the lamp being on screen, there is a cut to a new camera, Shot 2, showing a door with a small window in it. Through this window we see the back of a woman walking to open her door. Another camera swap, and the audience have now seen Mrs. Chan s face, with a dark background behind her. She is wearing a one piece outfit, which looks to be inspired by the 1960s as it is very colorful. There are stripes of red, blue, yellow, green, and even brown travelling all the way up to the top of her neck. Her hair looks to be very proper, and elegant looking for Hong Kong in 1962, when women were abiding the standards of couples and proper decorum of women, which was the era this movie was shot to look like. There is then a conversation between Mrs. Chan and another woman, whose face we do not see throughout the whole conversation. Shot 3 is one continuous shot throughout the entire almost forty second long conversation between Mrs. Chan and the mysterious woman. After the woman declined to chat with Mrs. Chan, there is another cut, Shot 4, where the camera is pointed towards Mrs. Chan, who is facing the door which was just previously shut in her face. We assume $50 revenue per room night of a typical 150 room hotel, and one year has 360 days. Sales level for each year in the life cycle connects to the occupancy rate. From the graph of Exhibit 9, we get different occupancy rate for the whole life cycle. It reaches the peak 100% at year 8, and after year 10, it declines almost linearly to 10% in year 30. • 32. Compare The Red Scare And The Red Scare The Crucible VS. The Red Scare The Red Scare and The Salem Witch Trials were both events that left a mark in American history. The Red Scare began in 1917 and took place across the United States. The Red Scare was known as the widespread promotion of anti communism. The Salem Witch Trials began in 1692 and took place in Salem, Massachusetts. The Salem Witch Trials were various court hearings and prosecutions of people in Salem accused of Witchcraft. Arthur Miller wrote The Crucible, a play about The Salem Witch Trials, to send a message to Senator Joseph McCarthy, the face of The Red Scare. Even though both of these events took place at completely different times their connection remains profound. The Crucible and The Red Scare have various similarities and allegories that make both of these events connect despite the gap of time. Arthur Miller, wrote The Crucible with the intention of comparing The Red Scare to The Salem Witch Trials. One of the many similarities between The Red Scare and The Salem Witch Trials is the way both events started. Both events were started by people making false accusations. During The Red Scare people were accused of being communists. At one of his speeches in Wheeling, West Virginia, in 1950, Senator Joseph McCarthy claimed to hold in my hand a list of individuals who were both serving in government and participating in the communist party. The then Lieutenant Colonel(LTC) Jones oversaw my Infantry Battalion when I deployed to Ramadi, Iraq. He displayed numerous attributes that I model my military career from; he had an unwavering presence and strong intellect. His competence was also the highest that I have ever encountered in my military career; he was a lead from the front type of leader and strove to achieve nothing but success whilst keeping the soldiers in his command in the front of his mind. I have set my standards of leadership off BG Jones and that is why he is my personal leader of influence. I will outline some examples of him throughout this paper. BG Jones has an ... He could keep his calm, cool manner and think a situation through before reacting. I think that being able to think things through no matter the situation speaks volumes to what a leader needs to be. He also showed that not every situation needed to be thought out at that time. He was known to have thought of contingency plans prior to actions as to cut out reaction time needed due to him thinking it through before implementation and able to switch tactics on the fly. He showed this attribute multiple times but one example sticks out in my mind s eye. We had set up a forward position in Ramadi in what we thought was a hostile minimal area. Once we had set up our hasty area for command and control of an impending raid we came under small arms fire and a mortar attack. He had set up sectors of fire and counter fire areas before we had set up even though we were told numerous times that it was not needed. Due to his intellect, he had taken it into advisement but had planned on it not being as such and we were able to respond in kind and repel any such attack. I learned from him that no matter what happens you need to think things through and show a strong intellect so your soldiers are confident in your decisions and believe in you. • 35. Analysis Of The Book Stepdaughters And Love Medicine... Family Stepdaughters and Love Medicine Family is interpreted many different ways by many different people. In these two stories Stepdaughters by Max Apple and Love Medicine by Louise Erdrich, we will view the family dynamics differences and similarities. In the story Stepdaughters our author paints a very vivid image of a broken family. Starting with the death of our character Stephanie s father when she was a very small child, but also the fact that her mother Helen had remarried several times clues us in to their incompletion as a whole family. Apple clearly states the newest stepdad saying, I m stepdad number three trying to stay on the sidelines (129).A nonparticipant parent would suggest that he really is not sure if he is going to be around to much longer. In our story Love Medicine our author also paints an image of a broken family. Our character Lipsha comes from a dysfunctional background only to be cared for in what may seem to others as a dysfunctional situation as well. Starting out as a youth he was told his mother did not want him, only to be cared for by someone who never lets him forget he was rescued by her. Grandma Kashpaw would tell him he was the biggest waste on the planet and she saved him from his mother who wanted to drown him. Lipsha felt there was not that many thank you left to be said (Erdrich 376). Although our two stories have images of broken homes. • 39. Creature Symbolism Towards the latter part of the novel, the Creature symbolizes the point in the human psyche when Man starts to become inherently bad when he gains more reward from doing wrong than he does from doing what is right. It is seen in his final moments with De Lacey s family. For a period of several weeks, the Creature waits patiently as he observes De Lacey s family in order to connect with them and embody their language as his own, but they eventually abandon him due to his grotesque form. In their first interaction with each them, he sees their expression as a horror and consternation on beholding [him], (Shelley 122)[.] Agatha and Safie faint and scream at the sight of him next to their father as Felix proceeds to attack the Creature. At this point, the Creature is at the point of no return as he realizes that he will never be accepted by any human and he is destined to live a life of damnation. At this very moment, the Creature s innocence becomes so engulfed by a feeling of hatred and spite for humanity that he believes he can, with pleasure have destroyed the cottage and its inhabitants, and have glutted me with their shrieks and misery, (Shelley 124). Irving Buchen describes this stage in the creature s life as an emergence of, limited evolution of a human animal who exists solely in the hermetic seal of his individuality within a natural, not a human, environment (Buchen). This is another way of saying that the Creature has resorted to his savage instincts: the thirst ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

OnQ states their pumps are filled with 550 mls of the anesthetic and set to a standard flow rate of 6 mls per hour (Postoperative pain, 2016). By using this data and determining how many hours the pump will last the patient then becomes meaningful and then considered information. There were also studies that looked at how the use of CPNB s expedited the process of rehabilitation stating with the block there was a noted decrease in the time until adequate mobilization (Machi, 2015). I analyze that particular symbol and how I believe it is to be presented throughout the narrative. In the case of Their Eyes Were Watching God, I recognized that Janie s hair would have a significant place in the themes of the novel. Within the opening paragraphs, Janie stares at herself in a picture and her identity arises from her hair seen it was mah dress and mah hair Her identity then shifts to the color of her skin Aw, aw! Ah m colored! (9), however the symbolism of her hair would be more powerful than the color of her skin. After this particular passage, I realized that this is not a novel so much about race as it is what it means to be a woman. Zora Neale Hurston is writing to an audience of women who will identify with Janie the definition of femininity wrapped up in the hair. Even after her marriage to Logan, she still has a thread of the passion for life and yearns for adventure. Logan reinforces the beauty of her flowing hair because he runs his fingers through it and only after he stops she begin to dream of flight.
