Iris Oh Research Paper
Iris Oh is a 19 year old college woman who lately has not been well and her parents are worried about
her. Iris was born in Seoul, South Korea and when she was 4 months old, she and her parents with her
two brothers decided to move to Los Angeles, California. Growing up people would make fun of her
weight and would call her Little Pea because she was round and chubby like a little pea. She told her
therapist that she hated being called Little Pea because it made her feel bad about her weight struggle.
When she entered school the students would make fun of her for her eyes and her weight. In school,
her classmates would call her hippo. She would always go home crying because of the jokes and
mother would tell her to stop being a baby. Iris

Physiology Of Fluid Balance And The Functions Of The Main...
Unit 13: Physiology of Fluid Balance
In this assignment I will be describing the microstructure of a typical animal cell and the functions of
the main cell components. Describing and explaining the factors the ways in which materials move in
and out of cells. I will also be analysing the role of the phospholipid bilayer in terms of movement of
materials in and out of cells.
Lysosomes Lysosomes act as the digestive system of the cell. They are found in all parts of the cell.
There are very powerful enzymes within lysosomes.
Cytoplasm Cytoplasm is the gel like substance within the cell and outside the nucleus. Chemical
reactions are carried out in the cytoplasm.
Nucleus The nucleus is the largest organelle in the cell. It acts as the control system for almost all the
activities of the cell. It stores the cell s hereditary material, or DNA
Mitochondria Spherical bodies in the cytoplasm where energy is produced. The cell uses this energy to
perform the specific work necessary for cell survival and function.
Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) Endoplasmic reticulum is a branching network that fills the cell interior.
There two types of ER: Smooth endoplasmic reticulum (SER) Synthesis of lipid, glycogen and
steroids (e.g. cholesterol and testosterone).
Rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER) They are called because of the presence of ribosomes on them.
They provide a site for protein synthesis and helps transport protein.

Essay on Langston Hughes is America
Langston Hughes is America
The poet s life is the focusing glass through which passes the determinants of the shape of his work:
the tradition available to him, his understanding of Kinds , the impact of special experiences (travel,
love, etc.). (Fielder 1431). Langston Hughes did not have an easy life. Being a young black male
during the 1920 s, Hughes was constantly being discriminated against by the color of his skin.
Because of that harsh reality, most of his work was centered around the African American s fight for
racial equality. One good example of this is shown in his poem I, Too . Hughes writes about being
discriminated against because he was black.
Around the time of the twenties, there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

taunting the belief that blacks would overcome. (Pinckney 773).
In the first line of I, Too , Hughes says that he too sings America. He is saying that he too sings
America. He is saying that he embraces everything America embodies, everything that established her
in the first place. He sings for the freedom, the beautiful mountains, and her independence. Even
though he embraces America in all her beauty, he is really saying I love this country and I should be
socially acceptable in it. He wants everyone to see this, especially when he states that he is the darker
brother. That second line quos the reader into why he is not accepted into society. That line spoke true
of his life and what he faced everyday just walking down the street Because he was the darker brother,
they would send him away to eat in the kitchen when company would come. However, he says he
laughs, eats well, and grows strong. He knows one day African Americans will be accepted into
society. Therefore, he takes care of himself and does not let society s opinion get him down. He is
confident in this because when company comes they will be ashamed that they did not let him eat out
in the open. Society will see his beauty and not see him as a disgrace. He finishes off his poem saying
that he is America too. He is the freedom, the beautiful

Microsoft Corporation started with two close friends who were total computer enthusiasts named Bill

however, he ultimately dropped out to concentrate on his project with Allen. In 1975, Altair, at the

The Kidnapping Of Patricia Hearst
When actually participating in an event it, you are unable to make a clear unbiased analysis of the
situation. However when there is an outsider in the event can be analyzed from several different
viewpoints and in psychological terms. One historical event that people still question what really
occurred is the kidnapping of Patricia Hearst. Patricia Patty Campbell Hearst, a Berkeley
undergraduate student, on February 4, 1974 at nineteen years of age was kidnapped by a group of men
and women after leaving her beaten fiancé behind (Winter, 2005). This group of men and women
formed the Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA), a radical group of domestic terrorists, led by Donald
DeFreeze, with the mission to destroy the capitalist state (Hixson, 2005). The group was formed in
Berkley, California with their main priorities being to end racism, monogamy, the prison system, and
all other institutions that have made and sustained capitalism. (Winter, 2005).
The reason for the kidnapping was for the simple reason that Patricia Hearst was part of a wealthy,
powerful family that would ensure the group attention from the press, which is exactly what occurred.
Hearst s kidnapping made headlines across the country. Local police and FBI searched for her, two
days after the kidnapping on February 6, 1974 a letter was left at a radio station signed by the SLA. It
was a warrant for the arrest of Patricia Campbell Hearst along with her credit card and a warning that

It wasn t the first time the legendary Babe Didrikson took the mound in a Major League Baseball
game, but it turned out to be the most eventful. During the 1934 spring training season in Florida, the
woman known as the greatest female athlete in the world was making the MLB exhibition circuit. On
March 21, 1934, she would be part of one of the rarest plays in professional sports.
The Philadelphia A s and Brooklyn Dodgers took to the field on a sunny day in Fort Myers, Florida.
Didrikson was helping promote baseball s image, while pocketing around $200 per appearance. Her
first shot at the best baseball hitters in the world was a wash as the Florida rain cancelled her first
event.
However, on this day she would head to hill, tipping her cap

The Believable Space In The Philadelphia Story
The Philadelphia Story creates a believable space by making storytelling its main focus. Like similar
classical films, this film provides little room to let the audience question anything happening onscreen,
as most objects given focus within the mise en scene are important for the story s progression. For
example, early in the film s screen time, Lord meets her fiancé, George Kittredge, at a stable with her
uncle and sister. In the very first shot of Lord s uncle, Willie, he is holding a copy of Spy Magazine
over his face in the foreground as Lord and her sister approach from the background. This shot
immediately calls the magazine to focus while downplaying Willie s presence. As the shot continues,
the magazine pushes the plot forward. Through dialogue, Lord is ... Show more content on

As Lord goes to greet Kittredge, she hands off the magazine to her sister, Dinah. In the next shot, Lord
is greeting Kittredge from the left of the frame, and after they fall onto the ground Lord s sister
reappears from the left of the frame with the magazine, enforcing continuity across shots. Kittredge
stands up and takes the magazine from Dinah, and Dinah exits on the right of the frame to avoid
cluttering the shot. The camera zooms in from a medium long shot to a medium shot, as Kittredge and
Lord look at the magazine together, with Lord continuing to make fun of the magazine s vapid
articles. The shot establishes Kittredge and Lord s opposing ideas of domestic life, placing the
magazine in the centre of the shot between Kittredge and Lord. Lord reads an article aloud, which
highlights how Lord s dismissive views of patriarchal ideologies could affect her relationships with
both Kittredge and the press. Lord folds up and tosses the magazine onto the ground, illustrating how
little she thinks of it, and the sequence continues. The magazine still remains crucial to the sequence s
role within the overarching

Violence In Rap Music Essay
Boom, boom! Boom, boom! The kind of bass that drains batteries and the kind of lyrics that unload
clips, these are the sounds that rap music produces. I chose this topic because I am extremely
interested in rap music and I want to explore the violent aspect of the industry. I have never had a
chance to look at the violent side of it and I plan to find answers to questions I have in my search.
Tupac Shakur is one of my favorite artists and when he was shot and killed I really started to take
notice of the violence. People were getting killed because of an image that was being set. What I really
want to know, however, is why rappers feel compelled to graphically describe the violence.

Hip hop wasn t a new form of music in 1989, in fact it started in 1982 with Run DMC, but nobody
was ready for this form. The police and politicians didn t like what N.W.A was saying in their lyrics,
but all of the things they were rapping about were things that were going on around them on a daily

they were rapping about because it was our lifestyle. quot;(Wilson. Interview). So basically art was

Temporal Trends and Geographic Patterns of Teen Suicide in Alaska, written by Bradford D. Gessner,
reported the findings of a study on teen suicide rates in Alaska. Using death certificates and U.S.
census data to record trends in suicide rates among Alaskan teens ages 14 19, it was found that the
teen suicide rate was 31.5 per 100,000 persons each year. The study tested three hypotheses, the first
being that the overall suicide rate of Alaska teens ages 14 19 during 1979 1993 would vary according
to residence, gender, race, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gessner used correlational research (directly stated) in his study, as he examined the effect of different
variables. For example, the two variables teen suicide and gender were found to covary together.
Besides determining suicide rates by census area, the correlation was determined between these rates
and several census area level demographic variables. Correlational research involves chi square and
linear regression tests univariate, multivariate, and square root transformation all of which were used
in this study. Risk ratios and Taylor series 95% CIs as well as chisquare tests for trend were calculated
using Epi Info computer software (Dean, Dean, Burton et al., 1995). Linear regression analyses were
conducted with SPSS (Norusis, 1993). Descriptive research was also employed in this study, as it
involved the use of many statistics (e.g., suicide rate, number of Alaska teens ages 14 19.) Obtaining

Carbon is the Basis for Organic Chemistry
Carbon is a chemical element with symbol C and atomic number 6. Its name originates from a Latin
word carbo for charcoal. Carbon is a member of group 14 elements on the periodic table and is
nonmetallic and tetravalent (make four bonds available to form covalent chemical bonds). It s the
basis for organic chemistry as it occurs in living organisms also it s the fourth most abundant element
in the universe. The allotropes of carbon are diamond, graphite and amorphous carbon.
ALLOTROPES OF CARBON
The existence in the same physical state of two or more structural forms of the same element is known
as allotropy. Allotropes of carbon are the ability of carbon to exist in various forms in the same
physical state. Carbon can exist in three different allotropic forms. These are diamond, graphite, and
amorphous or non crystalline. Diamond and graphite form the crystalline carbon.
DIAMOND
Diamond is the hardest known natural mineral, which makes it a good abrasive. It s the purest form of
naturally occurring carbon. It is found as colorless, lusterless solids, which can be transformed into
brilliant gems. It consists of an array of bonded atoms. No discrete molecule can be distinguished.
They are rare and found in volcanic rocks. Industrial use of diamond is in cutting, drilling, grinding
and polishing. Diamonds are fixed in drill tips or saw, blades or ground to powder for grinding and

Texas Conservative Definition
Conservative is defined in the Miriam Webster s dictionary as believing in the value of established and
traditional practices in politics and society. With this definition in mind the Texas Legislature, which
represents Texas as a whole, is conservative.
Texas has historically been a Conservative State, from its admittance into the Union as a Slave State
until now. To analyze and support the claim that Texas is a conservative state, we can look to its social
stances on Gay Marriage and Abortion, the religious culture, the historical conservative policies, and
the Texas economic policies towards taxes.
Texas epitomizes the definition of a southern state and is placed in the Bible Belt of the United States
because of Texas strong religious background which is the basis for many of the policies enforced in
Texas. As the Texas State Historical Association points out The Catholic Church has been a part of
Texas history ever since Europeans first set foot on the land in 1528. Furthermore, not only do
Catholics make up a large percentage of Texas, as do Protestants. The strong adherence to Christian
morals and beliefs is a predominant factor in why Texas is conservative. ... Show more content on

Essay about Ethics in Nursing Research
Ethics of Nursing Research Conducting quality research requires the researcher to perform within both
ethical and legal guidelines. Ethics is the study of right and wrong (Houser, J., 2012, pg.50). Ethics
provide the avenue for decision making and are guided by the researcher s integrity. Legal guidelines
provide direction to the researcher by specifying what is required by law to conduct research. As a
nurse researcher, it is an ethical duty to advocate for patients when incompetent, unethical or illegal
practices are observed. There are three basic principles to consider when evaluating the ethics of a

57). This exchange of information should be administered at a 5th grade comprehension level. The
subject should be willing to participate in the study with no reward offered for participation. The
informed consent process begins with participant selection and ends with a signed document of
agreement. In the case study regarding Mr. and Mrs. G, there were many questionable areas of
concern regarding ethical practices and obtainment of an informed consent. As the nurse researcher,
the duty to advocate for the patient is of primary concern. The first concern recognized through this
case study is that of vague description of the study. As the nurse researcher, I would need to be made
aware of the data collection process and the parameters upon which the research is based. Obtainment
of data to be used in research must maintain patient confidentiality. Did the researchers use patient
medical records, family member interviews, patient interviews or staff involvement in patient
selection? Were there any HIPPA violations in the selection process? Were the subjects informed that
they were being screened for participation? I would also need to assess the preliminary review of
literature that is driving this particular study. What is the appropriate time to conduct a study such as
this? Is the purpose of this study going to facilitate a change in patient outcomes? Awareness of the
motivation for this study and the benefit that is expected to the future

Speech On Furthering Our Nation
Kennedy Wood Mrs. Bradshaw DC English III 28 November 2016 Furthering Our Nation
I.Introduction The current generation is disrespectful, entitled, and has forgotten the journey America
has taken to become the beautiful nation it is today. When walking around the country, often taken for
granted are all the advantages and freedoms America is blessed with. What is forgotten is who allows
citizens of this great country to live a free and fortunate lifestyle. Blessings are overlooked and
forgotten throughout time. Terrorists surround the country, yet it is still safe to go out on a Saturday
night or to the mall safely due to our protectors. Recently in Venice, California on Memorial Day, the
Veterans Memorial, painted on the side of a metro building, was covered in graffiti. The graffiti could
not be removed without destroying the whole mural and the damage was extensive. Disrespecting
veterans and destroying property was the outcome of this stunt (Gerber and Grad). Soldiers make a
hidden difference everyday and many citizens never step back and realize the reality. The reality is
that safety does not come free. It comes from sacrifices, selflessness, and battles. When troops are on
the battlefield away from their families, sacrificing mentally, physically and financially, not all
appreciate everything soldiers and their families endure. Some Americans still have the audacity to
vandalize the memorials built to honor soldiers, judge mental and physical drains on

The Symbolism Of Mirrors In Patrice s Mad Shadows
Mirrors have been used as a powerful symbol throughout literature. They represent a window into one
s soul, exploring themes of narcissism, vanity, illusions, and deceit. In Mad Shadows, mirrors are a
dominant symbol throughout. One character in particular, Patrice, is the embodiment of this symbol.
His lifestyle is a direct repercussion of this metaphor. The relationships he holds with other people and
his actions are brought out through the symbol with which he is defined. It is through interacting with
this mirror that characters in the book meet their demise, directly as well as indirectly.

By destroying the garden, they thereby destroy Mr. Ugwu s status. Mr. Ugwu decides to flee, but not

Essay On Sitna In Ramayana
Sita and Laksmana are disagreeing on their next course of action in an ambiguous situation. This
passage is the rising action of the Ramayana. The heightened emotions, volleyed insults and
Laksmana s decision to leave Sita despite an ominous portent build suspense that culminates in Sita s
abduction. We can observe Sita s effective persuasion of Laksmana and consider the success of
women who use emotional blackmail, threats and insinuations of character flaws to manipulate men
into action, in contrast to other women who use logic and reason in their persuasion. Additionally, we
can assess the fairness of Laksmana s uncomplimentary comments about the female gender that he

Rebuffed by Rama, Surpanakha threw herself in front of [Khara], as a bolt of lightning would fall

Thereafter, she forces Dasaratha to commit the unrighteous act of banishing Rama from his rightful

women are dishonest and unrighteous in their use of piteous stances and empty threats to manipulate

thus questions his values and ability to rule the kingdom. She also tempts Ravana with the opportunity

The V Chip and TV Parental Guidelines
During the last decade, media ratings have been used as a means of addressing concerns about
objectionable or potentially harmful media content. Politicians, entertainment industry leaders, and
parents alike have turned to media ratings as a middle ground to such concerns somewhere between

Genetic Factors To The Development Of Breast Cancer
You probably know at least one person who has been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Breast Cancer is
the most common cancer for women in the United States. Although more common in women, this
cancer can also be found in men. The abnormal development of breast tissue cells ultimately generates
Breast Cancer. However, there are many different things that can provoke these cells to develop.
Even today, scientists are still unsure about all the factors that cause Breast Cancer. So that is why
research continues to be done to find reasons as to why it is being developed and different ways to
prevent it. They have discovered that breast cancer can be affected by both environmental and genetic
factors. In addition to that, doctors do know that there are a few specific gene mutations that exist that
are linked to Breast Cancer. Mutated genes can be acquired through life and some of these genes can
create Breast Cancer. Some other common causes are the regular consumption of alcohol, the regular
smoking of cigarettes, and being very overweight. Being exposed to the hormone estrogen for longer
amounts of time is also very common in the development of Breast Cancer. This happens when
menstruation lasts after the age of 50 and starts before the age of 12. Some doctors also believe that
irradiation in the chest due to previous issues and treatments can also lead to cancer. ... Show more

Pros And Cons Of Welding
Welding process Pros/Cons
The list of welding applications can be quite extensive. For the most part it can be broken down in
three main categories. Arc, Oxyfuel, Resistance, and Solid state welding. And the benefits of
automated welding can be in four main categories. Such benefits include, a decrease in scrap costs, a
decrease in labor costs, improvement on the quality of welds, and increased output of production.
Automated welding offers a more precise and clean weld and the welder given that it is a machine,
does not get tired or worn out and make human errors. With a company that purchases the welder,
over time the automated welder pays for itself and can run for hours on end producing the same
quality of weld and the same speed and pace that it is set for.

It is also the most common form of welding and easily learned. The equipment itself can be carried
into a confined space. The cost of shielding gas is also not required since the flux coating offers the
shielding requirements needed to sustain the arc. This process is also commonly used on most metals
and alloys.
Oxyfuel/Acetylene offers such benefits as not electrodes required for the welding process. It can be
done at all angle and used on thicker materials. The sub category abrasive water jet welding uses no
heat for the process.
Resistance Welding has a high production rate and set speed can be placed for production timing. It
can be easily automated for machines and for the most part it can be economical.
Solid State Welding uses extreme pressure to join two parenting metals together. The bond is free from
defects of the microstructure. It also uses no flux material, shielding gas or filler metals.
Although all forms of welding have their advantages, there are still disadvantages. Each one comes
with a certain downfall.

The sixth amendment to the U.S constitution guarantees a defendant in a criminal prosecution the
right to a speedy, public, and impartial trial by jury. Once it has determined that the trail will be by
jury, the next step in the criminal proceeding is the selection of the jurors. During this process possible
jurors receive a summons in the mall ordering them to appear in court at a specified time and date the

meaning to speak the truth, this is an examination conducted by the courts or by the attorneys of a
potential juror or witness to determine if they would be proficient or qualified for services. Jurors

jury selection process. Typical questions relate to whether prospective jurors know the defendant, the
attorneys, or any of the witnesses, whether they have read or heard about the case in the media, and
whether they have racial, nationality, or gender biases. Effective voir dire is getting the prospective
jurors to tell the court or attorneys what they need to know.

The Bear Documentary Analysis
In the Disneynature documentary film Bears, directors Alastair Fothergill and Keith Scholey film the
first year of life of Alaskan brown bears Amber and Scout in the coastal mountain regions of Alaska.
The film provides audiences with a glimpse of our belief in Alaska as being an untamed, beautiful
wilderness that contains free roaming wildlife, and unique scenery that is far away from the changing
world. However, according to Los Angeles Times staff writer Claudia Eller, Disney has become the
latest entertainment company to hop on corporate America s green bandwagon, by creating a new

Through using the film s goals and other scientific theories, Bears shows the possible outcome of
climate change in Alaska, the impact it has on local wildlife, and how both climate change and
wildlife influence the fate of the other. Michael Carey s research emphasizes the American idea that
people once thought of Alaska as an unchanging, eternal face, but now see it at the center of national
and international climate change discussion. Monika P. Calef in her study on distribution in Alaska
researched Alaska s climate change and what Bears portrayed from a vegetation perspective. In the
study it is later pointed out that with the decrease of tundra areas resulting from climate change,
forested areas were growing due to the warmer temperatures, causing other habitats to change and
produce different resources. Lowell H. Suring, connecting his ideas of human impact on
environmental change to other research, also pointed out that other climate and environmental factors
influence the availability of important foods for bears and other wildlife. The research that the articles
converse about relate to how Bears changes what Alaska means to us in regards to being an
unchangeable wilderness to a wilderness that is changing due to climate change. This idea of a
wilderness changing is also supported in Philip D. Martin s report of wildlife response to
environmental change. He claims that understanding the response of wildlife to climate change
requires, improved understanding of physical and ecological processes, as well as enhanced
knowledge of natural history and population. Regardless of whether it is because of warming
temperatures, shrinking resources, or human development each of these theorists believe that there is a
certain cause of climate change in Alaska. However, despite varying opinions of what is

Is Gatsby A Hero
Philosophers had discussed the definition of a hero. Today, it is believed that hero is someone who is
not afraid of doing something brave and courageous to save or help people. If we apply this definition
to Jay Gatsby, he may seem to be a hero because Gatsby gave up everything to earn Daisy s heart and
that seems romantic, or brave to some people. However, what Gatsby did was not heroic. He did
illegal things which heroes never do, He covets one s wife which is not heroic. Most importantly, he is
not an honest person while a hero never hides an event that can cause him/her to get into the jail. In
chapter 7, Jay Gatsby and Tom Buchannan fight over Tom s wife, Daisy Buchannan. Since Daisy
loved Gatsby before she got married to Tom Buchannan, it is understandable that Gatsby feels bad
about it and have some quarrels. It is not heroic, however, to say harsh things such as Your wife doesn
t love you, (131, Fitzgerald) or She never loved you, (131, Fitzgerald) even though it s true. If he is a
hero, he should have not said such things like that. heroes never covet one s wife. That is not a brave
or courageous thing to do. It only gives pain to others and hero does not give pain to people. Batman,
Spiderman, Superman, and many characters that are called as hero never covet someone s wife. Just
because Gatsby and Daisy loved each other many years ago, it is not right to get Daisy who is already
married. If he is a real hero, and as a hero, he should have step

Research Paper On Dracula
this is the definition of folklore, and from these stories we get a multitude of myths and speculation of
what happens to us when we die. They range from just disappearing into nothingness to becoming a
higher being or going into a higher plain of existence. There are ideas however, of a life on this earth
after we die for those who have committed crimes or have not been buried properly, we become the

from Anne Rice s (1976) portal of a . The traditional idea of a monstrous creature who haunts the

that happened in the late 1900 s. This change from traditional folklore is due to the way we perceive
things are changing due to the influence of different cultures and ideas. Most of our ideas of vampires

reason that you should think the latter if you agree with strict gun control is that heart disease killed

How Tracheostomy Care Is Essential For Patients
Abstract
Tracheostomy Care is essential for patients who are in respiratory distress. Nurses need to prevent
complications and promote education to care for this device. Cleanliness of this device will keep the
patient health from deteriorating, and ultimately prevent any infections that could possibly arise if the
tracheotomy is not taken care of properly. The purpose of a tracheostomy may have a myriad of
reasons. A couple of reasons to perform a tracheostomy may be due to a blocked airway, obstruction,
or to be used to extended respiratory or ventilator support. Tracheostomy care is vital for patients
because it prevents any complications. According to John Hopkins Medical Center (n.d), Early
complications that may arise during the tracheostomy procedure or soon thereafter include: bleeding,
air trapped around the lungs (pneumothorax), air trapped in the deeper layers of the chest
(pneumomediastinum), air trapped underneath the skin around the tracheostomy (subcutaneous
emphysema), damage to the swallowing tube (esophagus), injury to the nerve that moves the vocal
cords, tracheostomy tube can be blocked by blood clots, mucus, or pressure of the airways walls .
Tracheostomy Care
Numerous research has been conducted on various reasons why tracheostomy care is gravely
important. There are several indications why a patient might need a tracheotomy. Research by Morris,
Whitmer, and McIntosh (2013), explain:
Indications for placing tracheostomy tubes can be grouped into

Ikea Faced While Distributing Their Global Catalogs During...
INTRODUCTION
This case study focuses on a controversy Ikea faced while distributing their global catalogs during the
Fall of 2012. Every year, the company issues 60 different versions of the catalogs worldwide based on
local cultures, tastes, trends, etc of each region. One version of the catalog intended for Saudi Arabia
featured many pictures featured in other catalogs, but with the women erased from the photos. In each
photo, Ikea either completely removed the woman from the picture, or replaced her with an object.
Consequently, the catalog caused much controversy from customers claiming that Ikea was not
following their company s values by not featuring women in the catalog. The key issue that arose from
the ordeal was how would they rebuild their reputation with customers, and how could they take steps
to prevent a similar situation occurring in the future?
In this case study, I will first establish and outline the problem featured, then introduce solutions to the
problem and how to implement them, and end with a brief conclusion.
PROBLEMS AND GOALS
In result to the catalog, Ikea was faced with a major problem. How would they regain the trust of their
customers who expect them to uphold their company s integrity? To address this problem, Ikea should

Grief And Grief Of Grief
Grief is a part of life that is simply unavoidable. People grieve over a multitude of different things. For
instance, when one thinks of grief they often immediately think of death; that a person has to
experience the loss of a loved one to understand and go through the grieving process. However, grief
is defined as deep sorrow, so anything causing one to feel a deep sense of sadness can cause them to
go through the grieving process. The process of grief consists of five stages. The first is denial, where
one is surprised and shocked to the point of disbelief. The second stage is anger, where one is just mad
that it happened in general. Then they enter the third stage of depression, where they are done being
mad, but are instead incredibly sad and are having a hard time even functioning. The fourth stage is
bargaining, where one grieves their own life and begins to bargain with God and question what they
could have done differently. Finally they then reach the fifth and final stage which is acceptance,
where one is able to think upon the event and have happy thoughts. I have experienced grief in my life
already more than a couple of times, and all being due to different types of unfortunate events
occurring. Though, I specifically remember going through every step in the grieving process after the

Josef Mengele s Research
Throughout World War II, multiple Nazi researchers and physicians experimented upon thousands of
concentration camp prisoners, in painful and often deadly ways. Arguably the most horrific of them all
was Dr. Josef Mengele and his experiments conducted on twins, dwarfs, and prisoners with physical
abnormalities. Mengele s primary aim in research was to prove that certain traits such as eye colour,
obesity, and nasal features were inherited and thusly could be bred out of existence. This interest
stemmed from the Nazi obsession with a pure race, which ultimately led to the extreme violation and
sterilization of undesirable groups . (Skolnik, 2016, p. 84)

One of the main issues is whether or not it is ethically sound to use the results of the medical research
that the Nazi s conducted during World War II; there is much debate on this topic, with some saying
that the research should not be used because most of the experiments were not well designed, which
would result in data that is valueless. Others argue that although the data may have value, it is not
ethical to use it because of the horrible ways in which the data was obtained. (Skolnik, 2016, p. 84).
Another lesson that can be imparted from the occurrences of the Holocaust is the need for some type
of regulation on a global scale of the research and medical practices taking place all over the world;
although this is a very complicated and difficult practice, and although the vast majority of researchers
would never commit such atrocities, if researchers such as Josef Mengele are left to carry out any
experiments and procedures that they wish, the consequences could be terrible. Research cannot be

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart And The Classical Era
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was a brilliant composer from the classical era. He lived a short life;
however, he was able to compose many great pieces of music before he passed away. One of his
famous pieces is his Eine Kleine Nachtmusik piece that he wrote in 1787. The piece can be observed
as good from a Christian perspective. Art is meant to be felt and not just heard or seen.
Mozart was born in Austria in 1756 to a musically inclined family. He put together his first concerto at
the age of five. Before he reached the age of six he was playing in the Bavarian courts and in the
houses of the noble. His father, Leopold, saw him as a miracle child sent from God. He traveled all
over Europe and played for some of the most prestigious people before he was even ten years old. By
the age of thirteen, he had written multiple symphonies and began touring with his Italian operatic
style (Mozart, 2015). One of his most popular pieces for the Church was entitled, Litaniae de
venerabili altaris sacramento. In this piece, he used a range of styles and was known for using fugues
and dramatic expressions.
At the age of twenty five, he decided to marry Constanze Weber, the daughter of a family friend.
Together they had six children of only which two survived. He continued to compose music for all
genres and many popular operas such as Le nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni, and Die Zauberflöte. In
1791, he contracted the rheumatic inflammatory fever and passed away early at the age

Veterans Adapting to Civilian Life

scholarly reports that identify issues that affect veterans as they transit from military life to civilian

Some of these military leaders have experience with food insecurities, PSTD, and behavioral eating
issues. These emotional appeals are instrumental in ensuring that readers get an insight into the
challenges faced by veterans. The authors identified that a combination of such many challenges may
increase the chances of veterans developing obesity or eating disorders. This is a reasonable appeal
because popular research studies have associated obesity and eating disorders with stress.
The information presented from the two articles above can be supported by the article by Frueh and
Stencel. Veterans experiences in war are likely to go beyond the instantaneous and physical effects,
which may affect their entire lives. According to Frueh and Stencel, more than 2.2 million troops from
the United States served in the Afghanistan and Iraq wars (10). In the two wars, more than 6,600

Essay on Langston Hughes is America Langston Hughes is America The poet s life is the focusing glass through which passes the determinants of the shape of his work: the tradition available to him, his understanding of Kinds , the impact of special experiences (travel, love, etc.). (Fielder 1431). Langston Hughes did not have an easy life. Being a young black male during the 1920 s, Hughes was constantly being discriminated against by the color of his skin. Because of that harsh reality, most of his work was centered around the African American s fight for racial equality. One good example of this is shown in his poem I, Too . He is saying that he embraces everything America embodies, everything that established her in the first place. He sings for the freedom, the beautiful mountains, and her independence. Even though he embraces America in all her beauty, he is really saying I love this country and I should be socially acceptable in it. He wants everyone to see this, especially when he states that he is the darker brother. That second line quos the reader into why he is not accepted into society. That line spoke true of his life and what he faced everyday just walking down the street Because he was the darker brother, they would send him away to eat in the kitchen when company would come. However, he says he laughs, eats well, and grows strong. He knows one day African Americans will be accepted into society. Therefore, he takes care of himself and does not let society s opinion get him down. He is confident in this because when company comes they will be ashamed that they did not let him eat out in the open. Society will see his beauty and not see him as a disgrace. • 7. The Kidnapping Of Patricia Hearst When actually participating in an event it, you are unable to make a clear unbiased analysis of the situation. However when there is an outsider in the event can be analyzed from several different viewpoints and in psychological terms. One historical event that people still question what really occurred is the kidnapping of Patricia Hearst. Patricia Patty Campbell Hearst, a Berkeley undergraduate student, on February 4, 1974 at nineteen years of age was kidnapped by a group of men and women after leaving her beaten fiancé behind (Winter, 2005). This group of men and women formed the Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA), a radical group of domestic terrorists, led by Donald DeFreeze, with the mission to destroy the capitalist state (Hixson, 2005). The group was formed in Berkley, California with their main priorities being to end racism, monogamy, the prison system, and all other institutions that have made and sustained capitalism. (Winter, 2005). The reason for the kidnapping was for the simple reason that Patricia Hearst was part of a wealthy, powerful family that would ensure the group attention from the press, which is exactly what occurred. Hearst s kidnapping made headlines across the country. Local police and FBI searched for her, two days after the kidnapping on February 6, 1974 a letter was left at a radio station signed by the SLA. Like similar classical films, this film provides little room to let the audience question anything happening onscreen, as most objects given focus within the mise en scene are important for the story s progression. For example, early in the film s screen time, Lord meets her fiancé, George Kittredge, at a stable with her uncle and sister. In the very first shot of Lord s uncle, Willie, he is holding a copy of Spy Magazine over his face in the foreground as Lord and her sister approach from the background. Kittredge stands up and takes the magazine from Dinah, and Dinah exits on the right of the frame to avoid cluttering the shot. The shot establishes Kittredge and Lord s opposing ideas of domestic life, placing the magazine in the centre of the shot between Kittredge and Lord. Lord reads an article aloud, which highlights how Lord s dismissive views of patriarchal ideologies could affect her relationships with both Kittredge and the press. • 16. Speech On Furthering Our Nation Kennedy Wood Mrs. Bradshaw DC English III 28 November 2016 Furthering Our Nation I.Introduction The current generation is disrespectful, entitled, and has forgotten the journey America has taken to become the beautiful nation it is today. When walking around the country, often taken for granted are all the advantages and freedoms America is blessed with. What is forgotten is who allows citizens of this great country to live a free and fortunate lifestyle. Blessings are overlooked and forgotten throughout time. Terrorists surround the country, yet it is still safe to go out on a Saturday night or to the mall safely due to our protectors. Recently in Venice, California on Memorial Day, the Veterans Memorial, painted on the side of a metro building, was covered in graffiti. The graffiti could not be removed without destroying the whole mural and the damage was extensive. Disrespecting veterans and destroying property was the outcome of this stunt (Gerber and Grad). Soldiers make a hidden difference everyday and many citizens never step back and realize the reality. The reality is that safety does not come free. It comes from sacrifices, selflessness, and battles. When troops are on the battlefield away from their families, sacrificing mentally, physically and financially, not all appreciate everything soldiers and their families endure. Some Americans still have the audacity to vandalize the memorials built to honor soldiers, judge mental and physical drains on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These former athletes are working hard to ensure that young athletes do not have to suffer like they do. The issue of multiple concussions is finally becoming recognized by major sports. The awareness has led to a variety of interventions to help protect athletes. There have been two recent interventions concerning football helmets. First off, Riddell, a company that produces football helmets, has released a new helmet that is supposed to best prevent concussions. This helmet is known as the Revolution Speed. • 36. Grief And Grief Of Grief Grief is a part of life that is simply unavoidable. People grieve over a multitude of different things. For instance, when one thinks of grief they often immediately think of death; that a person has to experience the loss of a loved one to understand and go through the grieving process. However, grief is defined as deep sorrow, so anything causing one to feel a deep sense of sadness can cause them to go through the grieving process. The process of grief consists of five stages. The first is denial, where one is surprised and shocked to the point of disbelief. The second stage is anger, where one is just mad that it happened in general. Then they enter the third stage of depression, where they are done being mad, but are instead incredibly sad and are having a hard time even functioning. The fourth stage is bargaining, where one grieves their own life and begins to bargain with God and question what they could have done differently. Finally they then reach the fifth and final stage which is acceptance, where one is able to think upon the event and have happy thoughts. I have experienced grief in my life already more than a couple of times, and all being due to different types of unfortunate events occurring. Though, I specifically remember going through every step in the grieving process after the death of my good friend Sam. When my best friend Jacob woke me up with a call to inform me that Sam was dead, I literally thought he was kidding. In my mind at the time there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Josef Mengele s Research Throughout World War II, multiple Nazi researchers and physicians experimented upon thousands of concentration camp prisoners, in painful and often deadly ways. Arguably the most horrific of them all was Dr. Josef Mengele and his experiments conducted on twins, dwarfs, and prisoners with physical abnormalities. Mengele s primary aim in research was to prove that certain traits such as eye colour, obesity, and nasal features were inherited and thusly could be bred out of existence. This interest stemmed from the Nazi obsession with a pure race, which ultimately led to the extreme violation and sterilization of undesirable groups . (Skolnik, 2016, p. 84) The Ethics Josef Mengele was a product of the eugenics movement. The Eugenics theory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the main issues is whether or not it is ethically sound to use the results of the medical research that the Nazi s conducted during World War II; there is much debate on this topic, with some saying that the research should not be used because most of the experiments were not well designed, which would result in data that is valueless. Others argue that although the data may have value, it is not ethical to use it because of the horrible ways in which the data was obtained. (Skolnik, 2016, p. 84). Another lesson that can be imparted from the occurrences of the Holocaust is the need for some type of regulation on a global scale of the research and medical practices taking place all over the world; although this is a very complicated and difficult practice, and although the vast majority of researchers would never commit such atrocities, if researchers such as Josef Mengele are left to carry out any experiments and procedures that they wish, the consequences could be terrible. Research cannot be carried out unchecked; there have to be ethical guidelines in place and these guidelines have to be enforced in some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart And The Classical Era Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was a brilliant composer from the classical era. He lived a short life; however, he was able to compose many great pieces of music before he passed away. One of his famous pieces is his Eine Kleine Nachtmusik piece that he wrote in 1787. The piece can be observed as good from a Christian perspective. Art is meant to be felt and not just heard or seen. Mozart was born in Austria in 1756 to a musically inclined family. He put together his first concerto at the age of five. Before he reached the age of six he was playing in the Bavarian courts and in the houses of the noble. His father, Leopold, saw him as a miracle child sent from God. He traveled all over Europe and played for some of the most prestigious people before he was even ten years old. By the age of thirteen, he had written multiple symphonies and began touring with his Italian operatic style (Mozart, 2015). One of his most popular pieces for the Church was entitled, Litaniae de venerabili altaris sacramento. In this piece, he used a range of styles and was known for using fugues and dramatic expressions. At the age of twenty five, he decided to marry Constanze Weber, the daughter of a family friend. Together they had six children of only which two survived. He continued to compose music for all genres and many popular operas such as Le nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni, and Die Zauberflöte. Veterans experiences in war are likely to go beyond the instantaneous and physical effects, which may affect their entire lives. According to Frueh and Stencel, more than 2.2 million troops from the United States served in the Afghanistan and Iraq wars (10). In the two wars, more than 6,600 troops from the United States lost their lives. Frueh and Stencel assert that a substantial percentage of veterans experience enormous difficulties while in transition. The use of statistics is helpful in elevating the quality of the article.
