A Life Worth Living: Extreme Sports Extreme sports include of variety of physical intense activities
that incite a new emotion, a rush of adrenaline, and a time commitment. In addition such intense
exercise requires focus and willpower and the athletes are required to work at optimal levels
individually and often as a team. However, in spite of all their physical and psychological benefits,
extreme sports offer, there are disadvantages. People do not understand the serious training involved
and place themselves in a dangerous situation which can involve injury or even death. A few examples
of these non mainstream sports include big wave surfing, BASE jumping, BMX riding, skydiving,
bungee jumping, wingsuit flying, and free climbing. The variety ... Show more content on

How can you know how worthwhile life is for anyone else if people are not giving the choice to live
with the greatest freedom possible. For many these extreme sports are the ultimate goodness that life
has to offer. As Socrates well understood that the unexamined life refers to a way of life lived by
routine under the established rules of others without the subject ever examining whether or not he or
she really wants to live with those rules or routines. According to Socrates, this type of life, had little
purpose, and was not worth living. Rather than an unexamined life, Socrates chose death.
Analogously, each person should be afforded the freedom to understand the training, discipline, and
risks involved with extreme sports. At the same time, each person should be allowed to make their
choices in participating in these extreme sports to achieve their greatest physical and psychological
challenge. For some, this is the beginning of a life deeply worth

Reducing Dissonance
People are motivated to reduce dissonance. Past research has shown that dissonance can be relieved
when participants wash their hands (Lee Schwarz, 2010). We believe dissonance can occur in
individuals when they support a presidential candidate who does not hold the same moral values as
them. Haidt et al. (2007) included a figure in their article which showed that liberals rated values such
as care and fairness as relevant to morality, whereas conservatives rated authority and purity as
relevant to morality. Study 1: We hypothesize that there will be a positive correlation between
participant s personal morality values and the morality values held by the participants desired
presidential candidate. However, there will be a negative

Business Operations Across The World
Executive Summary:
Recently globalization and internationalization has become more important for multinational
companies. Many companies start to look abroad to expand their business activities as world become
more unified. Managing business operation across the country is biggest challenge especially for
international business today.
In this assignment I would like to discuss about McDonald. The McDonalds Company is one of the
most effective and successful global restaurant chains around the world. They have used very effective
management and worldwide growth strategies to enter new markets and gain a share of the foreign
fast food market. This paper presents how McDonalds has attained this massive success, its best

Hofstede (2001) defines the five dimensions of cultures as power distance, individualism versus
collectivism, masculinity versus femininity, uncertainty avoidance, and long term versus short term
orientation.
Japan is a high background culture and their method of communication is very difficult. As compare
to the American communication culture. American do not go into the depth details of their culture.
Many international companies often fail to understand the context of a particular culture as they rush
in with their offer in that country. They feel that the strategy which had delivered them success in their
home culture, will replicate in other cultures. P G is a good example they made the mistake when they
tried to sell Camay in Japan. Due to lack of communication. We have seen many branches of
Mcdonald s in different countries because we also eat the same food as American people eat but it
does not mean we also consume the same content. Because it seems like we eat the same online
platform it does not that Japanese people have same culture and beliefs. It was the first opportunity for
McDonalds to expand business in Asia. So, they decided the use their own culture dishes in manue.
Instead of using their home country strategy. There are other many countries where McDonalds does
not exist especially central Asia (North Korea) has never been admirer a big brands, especially
American brands. According to the United Nations in 2006 impose

Comparing Men Of Stone And Billy Elliot
The novel Men of Stone and the movie Billy Elliot have several similarities between each other. Both
Billy and Ben have dysfunctional families. Both have a single parent household due to one of the
spouses dying. The two protagonists get closer to their parents by the end of the story. The stories both
take place over a long period of time. Conflicts and issues that Ben and Billy have are all resolved by
the end of the story. They both received criticism because of their passion for dance, however they
weren t criticized by the same people. Older women both make appearances in Men of Stone and Billy
Elliot. The older women are also related to the family. Ben and Billy both have older siblings and they
are the youngest out of all of them. Billy and Ben were both involved in dance at a point in their
stories. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also both of them are crushing on girls. However these two stories are very different from each other
in certain aspects. Even though both families are dysfunctional, they are considered dysfunctional
because of different reasons. Ben s family is considered to be dysfunctional because of his dad s death
and the family s refusal to talk about it which created poor communication between the entire family.
Billy s family is dysfunctional because of the mining strike which causes the father and older brother
to lose their jobs. This then creates a tension with most of the family members. Although both families
display poor communication, they display it differently. Ben s family refuses to talk about his dad s
death and when someone brings it up, someone usually leaves the room and the conversation ends.
Billy s family communicates really angrily towards each other. The verbal fights that the Elliot s have

Why Does Catalase Decomposes Hydrogen Peroxide
The purpose of this lab was to study some characteristics of enzyme action by investigating how the
enzyme catalase decomposes hydrogen peroxide. It connects to our unit about enzymes because it
illustrates how enzymes decompose their substrates and their rate of decomposition. In the graph of
the more accurate experiment, it shows that the amount of product (in mL) gradually increased over
time until at about 120 seconds. After that, it would just gradually begin to plateau meaning enzyme
activity would no longer increase. Overall, both sets of data show that the amount of H2O2
decomposed gradually increased over time, and after a certain time, the number would stop climbing.
The purpose of the potassium permanganate, or KMnO4, was to titrate the H2O2 in the solution,
which we could then use to figure out how much of it was decomposed. ... Show more content on

We could use the H2O4 because acids will interfere with hydrogen bonds and other IMFs in the
enzyme which would denature it, permanently making the enzyme unable to work. The catalase was
the enzyme that acted on the product, which was hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). And of course, the
hydrogen peroxide, or H2O2, was the substrate and the catalase was the enzyme. Our results seemed to
be consistent because once we added the necessary amount that was needed to determine the amount
of H2O2 in the solution, the color of the solution afterwards would always be a light, clear brown, as
opposed to having various colors and shades each time. This means that we added the correct,
proportional amount of potassium permanganate each time. In comparison to the class data, less of our
H2O2 was decomposed. For example, for the trial for 30 seconds, 0.6 mL of our H2O2 was
decomposed while the average for the class data was 2.22

Proposal On Anabolic Steroids
Introduction
This research task will be focusing on the synthetic substance Anabolic Steroids .The aim of the
research task is to understand what effect the substance has on us humans and especially on the
reproductive system in our bodies. Gym and Body building is becoming more of a fashion than
anything else and can be referred to as the modern drug and just like when drug addicts have been
using the same drug for a long period of time and don t get the same feeling they move on to a
stronger dosage or substance and this is exactly what is happening with people today in regards to
gym and body building, people are going to the gym and lifting weights and are slowly seeing results

Anabolic steroid functions .The Anabolic steroid has two functions. It serves an Anabolic function
which is to increase the rate of muscle growth and it serves an androgenic function which is to
catalyze the increase and growth of male sexual characteristics in both male and female consumers.
The Substance is correctly named: Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (Anabolic Steroid Abuse , 2006)
Anabolic Androgenic steroids was defined by the FreeDictionary.com as:
(Pharmacology) any of a group of synthetic steroid hormones (androgens) used to stimulate muscle
and bone growth for therapeutic or athletic purposes (Anabolic androgenic steroids , 2016)
Chemical Structure of Anabolic Steroids.

Advantages Of Gold Dinar System
Gold dinar system is one of the tools that can be recognised as a good indicator in international trade.
It is also can be determine as a valued metal because people over the world always demanding over it.
For my opinion regarding to this system, I strongly believe that the gold dinar system will benefiting
us over the world. As for Malaysia that has been categorised as a Muslim country, then it is the best
position to prove the efficiency of the system. Since we have been used fiat money in our system for
today, the currency of the paper actually does not have any intrinsic value. Thus, the currency that we
have nowadays, does not stable but eventually it is also fluctuated in its value unpredictably. By

The possibility of the value that is fluctuated by the gold must be only by little percentage whether it is
up or down. So, it is not attainable to devalue the gold by higher percentage. From this level, the gold
dinar currency can be known as a good currency in international trade between the nations. If we have
been using gold as our currencies against the traded products in the market, then there will be no such
a problem regarding to the exchange rate. The using of the gold dinar is not intended to be used as a
currency for our daily transaction but we can be used this for the national currencies. I found that this
system have a good combination of few factors that will boost from any economic turbulence thus
gives a lot of opportunity towards business sector in the international trade. By having the gold dinar
system, the trades of bilateral and multilateral among the other countries can be straightening out
thereby to eradicate the foreign exchange risk. For this mode, gold is to be utilized as a unit of account
and a medium of trade rather than the national monetary

A Research Study On Mentoring Program
Summary Mentoring program have become common place in the social service community, their
general effectiveness has been well evaluated. This research will provide foundation for the following
review of Deep blue lines, focusing on mentor/mentee relationships, family involvement, their camp
element and program evaluation (DBL). DBL is a mentoring program for at risk youths, run by Police
Citizens Youth Club (PCYC) is a aimed at 13 17 year olds who are at risk of entering into criminal
activities or disengaging from community, education and family. DBL involves small group mentoring
sessions ran by police officers, focusing on communication, goal setting, making good choices, and

The program connects at risk teens with positive mentors, in order to learn to communicate, set goals,
make positive choices and create healthy relationships, in addition, they participate in a camp where
they are challenged to apply the skills they have acquired (2016). DBL has no official documentation
of how it is evaluation thus it will be evaluated through the framework of comparative literature based
on similar mentoring programs.
There is no statistically information based on DBL to infer if the program is successful or otherwise.
Evaluation of such a program is valuable to assess not only the success of your program but also, your
demographic so you can further tailor your program to your participants, gain access to funding
through suppling evidence of your results, gain community support by showing the community your
results (Parker and Lamont, 2010). Karcher et al. found that evaluation contributed to program
improvments inclding increased training for mentors, and improved plasticity to allow for individual
needs (2006). This aspect is lacking in DBL and needs to be introduced to gain valuable information
that will assist in the improvement and success of the program however, there have been other
effective elements of DBL identified.
A factor that has been identified as effective in mentoring programs of at risk teens is an engaging
relationship between mentor and mentee, this is often

The Struggle Of Women In The Epic Of Gilgamesh
The mythological tale, Epic of Giglamesh is a story that was written over 3,000 years ago and has
withstood the test of time to become a true classic. It is a story full of fear, despair and hope.
Gilgamesh is the King of the City of Uruk who drives his people crazy so they ask the gods for help.
Their request is answered when Gilgamesh s and Enkidu have a wrestling match and become best
friends. Together they decide to kill evil demons but the end result is that Enkidu must die as well.
Throughout the story, Gilgamesh is having both an internal and external struggle of trying to come to
terms with the fact that one day he will die and be forgotten. Prompted by the death of his best friend,
he embarks on a journey to achieve eternal life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this period, it is believed that men have nothing to do with creation and that sex is just an
activity. Women are represented as serpents and referred to as dragon flies that shed their skin and
bring forth new life similar to the way a woman brings a child into the world. Women are considered
to be divine, immortal and the creators. It is only the female who can leave a piece of themselves
behind on earth through their children. It is only the nymph of the dragonfly who sheds her larva and
sees the sun in his glory. When Gilgamesh seeks advice from Utnapishtim, the God of life, Giglamesh
is told There is a plant that grows under the water, it has a prickle like a thorn, like a rose; it will
wound your hands, but if you succeed in taking it, then your hands will hold that which restores his
lost youth to a man . Gilgamesh does the impossible and recovers the plant. As he surfaces to the top
of the ocean with the plant in hand, it is snatched away from his grasp by a serpent in an ironic twist.
...but deep in the pool there was lying a serpent, and the serpent sensed the sweetness of the flower. It
rose out of the water and snatched it away... Gilgamesh s hope that he would have eternal life was

the world of immortals. On this trip, Gilgamesh s never learns the secret of eternal life and comes to

Comparison Of Interstellar, By Christopher Nolan, And...
We all dream of an ulterior world, a world in which we picture a perfect life with no struggles,
problems, or pandemics. Both Interstellar, by Christopher Nolan, and Station Eleven by Emily
Mandel, depict their characters as struggling not only with survival, but their sense of their own
identity and security. Within Station Eleven, the saying, survival is insufficient is a recurring theme of
Interstellar as well. While there are some differences in the characters and themes within Interstellar
and Station Eleven, the similarities are the connections to their identity in which they adapt to the
force of change within their world. As the characters struggle with adapting, they cling to certain
things that allow them to remain sane. As a result, the characters feel like they have a purpose again
due to their struggle for survival.
Within their harsh and collapsing worlds, Murph and Kirsten are the puzzle pieces that connect their
stories together. For example, Murph cracks the code of the theory of gravity with the help of her
ghost, her father within the third dimension, providing her the missing information that saves their
planet from extinction. All that time, Murph tediously trying to figure out what her ghost was trying to

Ancient Kingship and Rulers Essay
Kings and rulers started to emerge as soon as people moved away from living in tribes. This was the
case with the Jews when they have decided to unite under one ruler. However, long before them the
first empire was established in Mesopotamia by Sargon of Akkad in 2334 BCE (Kelly, 2011). The
essay will compare kingship in three geographically and chronologically different societies. They are
the following: Babylonians during Hammurabi s reign (1792 1750 BCE), Neo Assyrians (934 610
BCE), and the Jews (1000 BCE). In order to avoid historical distortions, primary sources from those
time periods will be used. These three communities have influenced each other in different fields.
Therefore, we can see similarities in their ruling systems. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the Advice to a Prince, gods only could judge and punish the ruler, for example, if he
(ruler) takes silver... Marduk, lord of Heaven and Earth, will set his foes upon him... (Sanders, p.70).
Consequently, we can assume that ruler s power have increased enormously, since no matter what he
does (even despotism) is supposed to be controlled by gods. Finally, the kingship in Israel has some
differences as Jews are monotheistic. Nonetheless, the Jews believed in god s involvement in daily life
as well. More importantly, god (Yahweh) was believed to decide who the king is and whether he must
be changed (Sanders, p.72). This shows some parallels with Assyrians where gods only could judge
the ruler. As a result, it is seen that regardless of regions and number of gods (monotheism or
polytheism) rulers in ancient times were connected with divine power. In fact, at ancient times rulers
often represented the choice of god(s), whereas presently they represent the choice of people. This, I
think, led to more fearful and respectful attitude towards rulers due to their divine support. In addition
to the connection with the divine power, rulers in ancient world had one very distinct feature. Almost
always rulers were men, with very few exceptions. Thus it is clearly seen that people at that time lived
in patriarchal society. Moreover, rulers promoted patriarchy implicitly or sometimes even explicitly
through their rules. For example, according to

Today s Internet companies such as Facebook, Amazon and Google collect and analyze vast volumes
of data in real time to trigger advertising to their users pages. Today, many big data environments are
using Hadoop as the distributed storage and distributed processing of large datasets using clusters of
commodity hardware. These solutions can scale out from a single server to thousands of servers. Big
Data is changing the way business decisions are made. It is no longer a passing fad and if companies
are not extracting insights from the data collected, they will be left behind by their competition.
Supporting Big Data Projects Big data requires clusters of servers to support the many software tools
needed to process and analyze large volumes of structured and unstructured data. Consequently, IT
organizations are looking to private cloud computing as the IT architecture to support big data
projects. Cloud computing services are available in three business models public, private or hybrid. In
the public cloud model, services are delivered over the Internet and sold on demand. Public cloud
provides the ability to scale on demand, offering users tremendous flexibility and agility. Private cloud
services are delivered from the enterprise s data center to internal users. This model offers enterprises
versatility, and unlike public cloud, the enterprise s

Summary Of The Article Easter Island By Jared Diamond
In the article by Jared Diamond, many interesting theories are discussed about Easter Island s history
and decline. Diamond makes connections to the environmental challenges we face today and he
compares the catastrophe of Easter Island to our current over consumption of natural resources. While
this article makes for an interesting read, much of it is offered from a single perspective and little
counter evidence is offered. The author writes in a way that could engage a non academic audience
who may not be interested in counter evidence, or proper referencing. The article lacks credibility due
to its narrow scope and conversational diction. At the root of this discussion however, is the notion
that the Rapa Nui people were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his arguments, the author uses his own point of view, information from other people s research, and
from historical voyages without offering any proper references. Additionally, the author uses non
academic language to inspire literary imagery in order to make the article more attractive to potential
readers. This article does make for an interesting read, but it is far from accurate. In my opinion, the
author has cherry picked the evidence in order to create a scenario where the blame for the demise of
the ecosystem was places squarely on the native s shoulders which discounts any natural factors that
could have happened. The Rapa Nui were a complex society of people who utilized the land in
innovative ways. Indeed something catastrophic did take place, and I do not know exactly what that
was, but I do not believe it was solely greed and consumption that caused the downfall of an entire
society as the author would have you believe. The author mentions the use of carbon dating, pollen
analysis, archaeology, and paleontology to help develop a time frame of when the island was settled,
and when it encountered problems. This should have been discussed in more detail with proper
referencing in order to strengthen this article. These diciplines are useful and necessary to form a
forensic picture of what the island would have been like, and when it would have started to decline.

Theme Of An Outsider
The Outsiders by S.E Hinton and The Clay Marble by Minfong Ho both center around the motif of
being an outsider. The theme of both books is that you are never an outsider when you have friends
and family. This is shown through the two main characters, Dara and Ponyboy. While they share
similarities, the two are also vastly different. Dara starts her story as a very innocent and hopeful girl.
When she arrives at the refugee camp, she says I had the strange feeling that somehow I had finally
come back home on page 22. This is showing how even after she lost her home, she still had enough
hope to believe she could find a new one. She s also still a young girl. She plays with homemade toys
and says on page 43 Maybe, I thought, maybe she did ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also starts off as The Innocent, hopeful for a better future and seeing the good in everyone. On
page 26 he says, I didn t get why we talk about girls in that way, which is showing how even though
he s tough he is still young and innocent and doesn t get why his gang talks dirty about women Also
like Dara, Ponyboy s archetype changes to The Loner or Outcast and he loses his hope. After Johnny
kills a Soc to protect him, they go on the run from the police. They hide out in an abandoned church
away from their families and society. On page 63 it says he must have been as homesick as I was
showing how Ponyboy wants to go back to his family. Again, this also shows the theme of The
Outsiders. Even though he s a greaser and on the bad side of society s view, Ponyboy is really only an
outsider when he is without his family and gang. Following Dara, after Johnny s death, Ponyboy
becomes The Hero. On page 145 the text states Yessir, I said, I ll try. What s the theme supposed to be
on? Anything you think is important enough to write about. And it isn t a reference theme; I want your
own ideas and your own experiences . Ponyboy then writes a theme paper based on Johnny s life,
letting everyone know what they ve gone through. He has an honorable purpose, allowing him to be
The Hero. Ponyboy also faces a great deal of problems, although his are not the same as Dara s. Like
her, he is also driven from his home and placed in an intense war. Unlike her, his war is of the social
classes and not countries. While Dara must overcome her fears, Ponyboy must discover who he is as a

Bruce Springsteen s Song Born In The USA
Born in the U.S.A. was a song written and performed by Bruce Springsteen. The song was first
released on June 4, 1984 appearing on the album that conveniently shared the same name with the
song, Born in the U.S.A. The song was originally written and produced by Springsteen in 1982 and
was titled Vietnam. However, the song was cut from Bruce Springsteen s album, Nebraska that was
released in 1982 and the song was later renamed. The song was an instant hit after it s release in 1984,
appearing on Billboards Top 100 for 17 weeks straight and being considered a Top 10 single in
America during 1984. The album Born in the U.S.A. also received tremendous success selling over 18

Ronald Reagan was the most notable for misinterpreting the lyrics behind Born in The U.S.A. as he
used it for his 1984 campaign. Although Born In The U.S.A has a catchy chorus, which can easily be

Macbeth s Heroic Manhood
In Shakespeare s Macbeth, heroic manhood is shown as a violent combat zone where men are
obligated to gain honor through violence at whatever cost. The heroic man is seen as dominant,
powerful, and influential in Macbeth s times. In battle, the man has a chance to portray his masculinity
by violently destroying all in his path. The society and culture value brutality over temperance.
Therefore, society s idea of manhood has the ability to even make men go against their morals for the
purpose of procuring the ideal manhood. This struggle for a male to conform to the ideal of manhood
endorsed by the culture and society is portrayed through the protagonist Macbeth.
In the opening scene of the play, Macbeth is described as a hero with all the necessary attributes of a
great warrior. Like no other on the battlefield, he is depicted having superhuman strength as he fights
mercilessly to defend his kingdom (I.2.15 23). However, once he is ... Show more content on

Since his need for Lady Macbeth diminished his sense of manliness, he forces himself to separate
from her in order to prove his own identity as a manly king. While leaving his wife in sorrowful
ignorance, he plots the murder of Banquo (III.2.166 127). This action proves to Macbeth that he is a

that his mortal self can be seen as heroic. This idea of man contrived by society has forced a man full

Music Censorship Essay
Music Censorship
Since the being of time people have been making and listening to music. Music has been considered
the best way to express ourselves. The Bible even talks about how music was used to praise God.
Music has been used for all type of things ranging from to getting a girl to notice guy, trying to get
over a broken heart, or maybe losing a love one. Now society says that music has become too violent
and sexually oriented. Many people have different point of view on this topic some people feel that
there should be some type of censorship, while other feel censorship is against the first amendment,

Others believe that music should not be censored because it would infringe on the artist s right to
freedom of speech, but music containing explicit lyrics should be criticized for their negative content.
Senator Sam Brownback of Kansas delivered a speech to the City Club of Cleveland. In his speech he
discusses how music has a major affect on youth, and how crimes among teenagers have increased
greatly, since music with explicit lyrics have been out on the market. He also expresses that music
should not be censored, because the artist have the right to say what they want in their lyrics, but
society also had the right to criticize the explicit lyrics in their music. (1 9) The right to freedom of
speech is given to all people under the bill of rights. If people weren t allowed to speak what they felt
this country would not be where it is today. However, other Americas feel that there should be no such
thing as censorship on music, but it is completely up to the parents to decide what their children
should listen to. In an article written by Olivia Clarke, she interviews parents to see what they have to
say about the music their children listen too. Lory Reinisch listens to the music her children listen to
and then tells them what songs they can listen to on the CD. (3) Artists that produce hardcore music is

Theme Of Silence
The book Silence, by Shusako Endo follows a theme of a silent God who accompanies a believer in
adversity. The main character of the book is Sebastian Rodrigues. It tells of Sebastian Rodrigues
arduous journey halfway around the world to Japan in the 1630s, in order to track down a rumor that
his mentor Father Ferreira had abandoned his faith, at a time where the Japanese leaders were
extremely hostile to foreigners and Christianity and also suspicious of their intentions. He travels with
two other missionaries but one of them falls sick whilst travelling and is deemed unfit to carry on to
accompany him. The book is not fast paced, but immensely character driven. For example, we see the
growth of Sebastian Rodrigues as a priest. At one point he labels Kichijiro a coward. Was it possible
that he was of our faith this wretch. Here we see him being judgmental. However, later in the novel we

Family Comes First
Imagine being put in a situation where honor towards your own blood opposes the law. In the city
state of Thebes, King Creon issues a law that bans the burial of Polyneices. The dead man s sister, a
young woman named Antigone, buries her brother against King Creon s blessings. Antigone s
courageous actions lead her to her own fatal death. Sophocles emphasizes the importance of choosing
family over authority in his play Antigone .
Regardless of the punishment, Antigone contradicts the laws in order to pay her brother respect. King
Creon clearly informs everyone on the consequences of tampering with the corpse of Polynices,
Antigone s brother. Antigone argues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
King Creon initially forbids any sort of honor towards the body of Polyneices. Because of his rational
decision, a series of deaths occur. Creon yells to the Chorus, Mistakes from thoughtless thoughts,
stubborn and deadly! (59). Unfortunately, his loved ones had to die in order for him to realize that his
choice was a mistake. He should have realized that there is a difference between a ruthless leader and
a caring leader; mistakenly, he chooses to be a ruthless leader by neglecting the importance of family.
Sophocles tries to push upon the reader that the law should come second to family. Antigone involves
herself in a whole lot of trouble with the law in order to pursue her desire to commemorate her brother
s tragic death. Not only does Antigone prioritize family but her sister, Ismene, does too. Ismene
willingly sacrifices her life in order to support her sister in her downfall. King Creon feels remorseful
about being uncompromising; he prioritizes the law which ultimately leads to his own family
perishing. Defend boundaries of loved ones without hesitation, otherwise, the world would fill with

Resistance Art And Resistance In Art
An artist, can and has represented what he or she sees then produces it on a material, which allows the

one of reflection of social change or an impetus, it is both. Art is neither just one, it engages each

Phychoanalysis In Delacroix s Liberty Leading The People
While feminism and Marxism work well in hybrid approaches to Delacroix s Liberty Leading the
People, the same cannot be said for every methodology. This is especially true in regards to
psychoanalysis. It is difficult to apply this approach to an older artist like Delacroix. The methodology
is so recent and grounded in being able to converse with the artist. In the case of Delacroix, scholars
base their psychoanalytic findings on the artist s writings, both letters and journals. While this can be
useful in some cases, such as Wilkin s use of it to determine Delacroix s opinions on other artists, it is
not when trying to determine Delacroix thoughts on himself and his own art. This means the
scholarship is based on Delacroix s self fashioning. While one can speculate on the subconscious
motivations behind his writings, they simply do not add any depth to our understanding of Liberty
Leading the People. Scholars try to link psychoanalysis with biography to ground their findings, but
this only makes the biography method appear faulty and compromises readers willingness to accept
fact. Thus, psychoanalysis does not add anything substantial to the study of Delacroix s painting and
should not be used in conjunction with the hybridization of biography, formalism, or social history. An
example of a scholar trying to utilize psychoanalysis Jack J. Spector s article Delacroix s Liberty on
the Barricades in 1815 and 1830 from 1996. In this study, Spector unsuccessful tries to

tasks down into small steps, each step reinforced and rewarded as it was learned. Although Skinner s
experiments were generally carried out on animals, his work became widely applied to child
development and to work with parents. (How Children Learn, John Holt, p.43). Working with parents
means that teachers will work with parents to continue reinforcement at home, for example when a
child comes home with a sticker, the parents will be encouraged by the teachers to ask why the child
has a sticker, so that the child can develop and understand that they have been good or realise that they
have done something well. In my setting we carry out observations and Individual Learning Plans, so

Horrifying War In Dulce Et Decorum Est By Wilfred Owen
In the poem, Dulce et Decorum Est by Wilfred Owen, shows how truly horrifying war can be. By
using incredibly detailed imagery and effective language to show just what happened during war time
and making readers experience feelings such as pity, sorrow, and remorse. Owen describes the many
hardships that the soldiers went through even so far as describing a deadly gas attack that claimed one
of the soldiers and had burned into his mind the scaring imagery of someone he knew choking to
death because of the deadly mist that was all around them. Owens poem is very genuine since he had
participated in the bloody savagery that was World War 1. The poem begins with a detailed description
of the lifestyle and poor conditions that the soldiers had to endure on a day to day basis which led
them to age incredibly quickly. Bent double, like old beggars under sacks, Knock kneed, coughing like

and sick. This comes as a surprise because many people believe that the appearance of soldiers are to
be muscular and alethic, not scrawny and weak but their appearances changed drastically because the
conditions they were living in were beyond imagination (Owen, p.723). This first quote is where we
get the impression that the speaker was there during the events since he uses we to explain how they
went through the sludge. This imagery helps to display how hard it must have been to move yet

Overview of Pitching Machines
Pitching Machines Introduction A compound machine is just what it sounds like it is two or more
simple machines combined to make one machine. Technically, the mechanical advantage of having a
compound machine is the ¦magnitude by which it reduces the required force, according to the Galileo
department website at the University of Virginia. In other words, the mechanical advantage of two
machines working in sync as one machine is that the required force is cut in half of what it would be
without the machine. In this paper the emphasis is on the compound machine known in the sports
training world as the baseball pitching machine. How it Works The website LiveStrong.com points out
that there are pitching machines that are battery powered in case the playing field is too far from
electrical outlets. Those machines are not as common though as machines that are powered by
electricity. Some machines require a human to feed each baseball into the machine (they cost less) but
most machines allow the baseball coaches to load up several baseballs at a time. One particular brand,
The Heater, allows coaches to load a dozen baseballs in the machine and the machine pitches a ball
about every 12 seconds (LiveStrong.com). The versatility of baseball pitching machines is impressive;
not only to many pitching machines allow the coaches to change the speed of the pitch from a fastball
to a slow change up the machines will throw different pitches, like curveballs at different

Globalization Is An Increasingly Present Phenomenon, Which
Globalization is an increasingly present phenomenon, which influences almost everyone s life to a
certain extent. Our world is more connected than ever, and not just from an economic point of view,
but from social, political, technological, and cultural as well. Globalization can be defined, analysed,
tackled many ways, but this essay seeks to briefly define globalization, introduce the convergence
diversity debate, and examine the different types of organizational strategic perspectives in China.
The notions of globality can be traced back to the early part of humanity, but the term globalization
itself was not coined until the 20th century. From a social standpoint, it can be defined as:
A social process in which the constraints of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From a managerial point of view, there are many implications of convergence. For example, the staff
of multinational firms are often expected to move around the organization s global operations.
Furthermore, Belief in the transferability of techniques has led management to turn elsewhere for
solutions to problems such as organization structures, new market entry, product and process design,
controlling labour and cost reduction. (Needle, pp.147)
On the other side of the debate, divergence scholars instead assert that national culture, not economic
ideology, or technological growth, is (and will continue to be) the dominant force in shaping the
values, beliefs, and attitudes...within a country . (Gupta, V.; Wang, J pp. 69)
The divergence supporters argue that differences in cultural values can be seen as natural barriers to
convergence, and they can only be altered slowly. They insist, that instead of converging on one
model, national states and companies aim to be different, so they can be more compatible on the
global market. Divergence scholars are convinced that management practices cannot simply be
integrated, as cultural differences particularly between Western and Eastern countries are too great.
There is a hybrid model which combines the best features of convergent and divergent ideology, called
cross vergence. It represents a middle way in the values symbolized by the Western and Eastern world.

Monologue In The Siree
The use of monologue in this poem shapes a paradoxical theme, which makes the siren s motivation
blurry. In the context, the poem uses the word song three times in the first lines of three stanzas. The
beginning stanzas are monologues of the siren. In the context, the song appears to be irresistibly
attractive to the men, that it makes men jump over the board even if they see where they are heading

extensively repeats the words, as if she sees the sailor as a savior. It can be implied that the siren is so
desperate that she attempts to address the importance of the sailor. Also, the siren makes such
desperate call by repeating the importance and uniqueness of the sailor over and over again via such

  • 2. Rise Of Superman A Life Worth Living: Extreme Sports Extreme sports include of variety of physical intense activities that incite a new emotion, a rush of adrenaline, and a time commitment. In addition such intense exercise requires focus and willpower and the athletes are required to work at optimal levels individually and often as a team. However, in spite of all their physical and psychological benefits, extreme sports offer, there are disadvantages. People do not understand the serious training involved and place themselves in a dangerous situation which can involve injury or even death. A few examples of these non mainstream sports include big wave surfing, BASE jumping, BMX riding, skydiving, bungee jumping, wingsuit flying, and free climbing. The variety ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How can you know how worthwhile life is for anyone else if people are not giving the choice to live with the greatest freedom possible. For many these extreme sports are the ultimate goodness that life has to offer. As Socrates well understood that the unexamined life refers to a way of life lived by routine under the established rules of others without the subject ever examining whether or not he or she really wants to live with those rules or routines. According to Socrates, this type of life, had little purpose, and was not worth living. Rather than an unexamined life, Socrates chose death. Analogously, each person should be afforded the freedom to understand the training, discipline, and risks involved with extreme sports. At the same time, each person should be allowed to make their choices in participating in these extreme sports to achieve their greatest physical and psychological challenge. For some, this is the beginning of a life deeply worth ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Reducing Dissonance People are motivated to reduce dissonance. Past research has shown that dissonance can be relieved when participants wash their hands (Lee Schwarz, 2010). We believe dissonance can occur in individuals when they support a presidential candidate who does not hold the same moral values as them. Haidt et al. (2007) included a figure in their article which showed that liberals rated values such as care and fairness as relevant to morality, whereas conservatives rated authority and purity as relevant to morality. Study 1: We hypothesize that there will be a positive correlation between participant s personal morality values and the morality values held by the participants desired presidential candidate. • 4. Business Operations Across The World Executive Summary: Recently globalization and internationalization has become more important for multinational companies. Many companies start to look abroad to expand their business activities as world become more unified. Managing business operation across the country is biggest challenge especially for international business today. In this assignment I would like to discuss about McDonald. The McDonalds Company is one of the most effective and successful global restaurant chains around the world. They have used very effective management and worldwide growth strategies to enter new markets and gain a share of the foreign fast food market. This paper presents how McDonalds has attained this massive success, its best practices in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hofstede (2001) defines the five dimensions of cultures as power distance, individualism versus collectivism, masculinity versus femininity, uncertainty avoidance, and long term versus short term orientation. Japan is a high background culture and their method of communication is very difficult. As compare to the American communication culture. American do not go into the depth details of their culture. Many international companies often fail to understand the context of a particular culture as they rush in with their offer in that country. They feel that the strategy which had delivered them success in their home culture, will replicate in other cultures. P G is a good example they made the mistake when they tried to sell Camay in Japan. Due to lack of communication. We have seen many branches of Mcdonald s in different countries because we also eat the same food as American people eat but it does not mean we also consume the same content. Because it seems like we eat the same online platform it does not that Japanese people have same culture and beliefs. It was the first opportunity for McDonalds to expand business in Asia. So, they decided the use their own culture dishes in manue. Instead of using their home country strategy. There are other many countries where McDonalds does not exist especially central Asia (North Korea) has never been admirer a big brands, especially American brands. • 5. Comparing Men Of Stone And Billy Elliot The novel Men of Stone and the movie Billy Elliot have several similarities between each other. Both Billy and Ben have dysfunctional families. Both have a single parent household due to one of the spouses dying. The two protagonists get closer to their parents by the end of the story. The stories both take place over a long period of time. Conflicts and issues that Ben and Billy have are all resolved by the end of the story. They both received criticism because of their passion for dance, however they weren t criticized by the same people. Older women both make appearances in Men of Stone and Billy Elliot. The older women are also related to the family. Ben and Billy both have older siblings and they are the youngest out of all of them. Billy and Ben were both involved in dance at a point in their stories. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also both of them are crushing on girls. However these two stories are very different from each other in certain aspects. Even though both families are dysfunctional, they are considered dysfunctional because of different reasons. Ben s family is considered to be dysfunctional because of his dad s death and the family s refusal to talk about it which created poor communication between the entire family. Billy s family is dysfunctional because of the mining strike which causes the father and older brother to lose their jobs. This then creates a tension with most of the family members. Although both families display poor communication, they display it differently. Ben s family refuses to talk about his dad s death and when someone brings it up, someone usually leaves the room and the conversation ends. Billy s family communicates really angrily towards each other. The verbal fights that the Elliot s have usually ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Why Does Catalase Decomposes Hydrogen Peroxide The purpose of this lab was to study some characteristics of enzyme action by investigating how the enzyme catalase decomposes hydrogen peroxide. It connects to our unit about enzymes because it illustrates how enzymes decompose their substrates and their rate of decomposition. In the graph of the more accurate experiment, it shows that the amount of product (in mL) gradually increased over time until at about 120 seconds. After that, it would just gradually begin to plateau meaning enzyme activity would no longer increase. Overall, both sets of data show that the amount of H2O2 decomposed gradually increased over time, and after a certain time, the number would stop climbing. The purpose of the potassium permanganate, or KMnO4, was to titrate the H2O2 in the solution, which we could then use to figure out how much of it was decomposed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We could use the H2O4 because acids will interfere with hydrogen bonds and other IMFs in the enzyme which would denature it, permanently making the enzyme unable to work. The catalase was the enzyme that acted on the product, which was hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). And of course, the hydrogen peroxide, or H2O2, was the substrate and the catalase was the enzyme. Our results seemed to be consistent because once we added the necessary amount that was needed to determine the amount of H2O2 in the solution, the color of the solution afterwards would always be a light, clear brown, as opposed to having various colors and shades each time. This means that we added the correct, proportional amount of potassium permanganate each time. In comparison to the class data, less of our H2O2 was decomposed. For example, for the trial for 30 seconds, 0.6 mL of our H2O2 was decomposed while the average for the class data was 2.22 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is also can be determine as a valued metal because people over the world always demanding over it. For my opinion regarding to this system, I strongly believe that the gold dinar system will benefiting us over the world. As for Malaysia that has been categorised as a Muslim country, then it is the best position to prove the efficiency of the system. Since we have been used fiat money in our system for today, the currency of the paper actually does not have any intrinsic value. Thus, the currency that we have nowadays, does not stable but eventually it is also fluctuated in its value unpredictably. From this level, the gold dinar currency can be known as a good currency in international trade between the nations. If we have been using gold as our currencies against the traded products in the market, then there will be no such a problem regarding to the exchange rate. The using of the gold dinar is not intended to be used as a currency for our daily transaction but we can be used this for the national currencies. There is no statistically information based on DBL to infer if the program is successful or otherwise. Evaluation of such a program is valuable to assess not only the success of your program but also, your demographic so you can further tailor your program to your participants, gain access to funding through suppling evidence of your results, gain community support by showing the community your results (Parker and Lamont, 2010). Karcher et al. found that evaluation contributed to program improvments inclding increased training for mentors, and improved plasticity to allow for individual needs (2006). This aspect is lacking in DBL and needs to be introduced to gain valuable information that will assist in the improvement and success of the program however, there have been other effective elements of DBL identified. Both Interstellar, by Christopher Nolan, and Station Eleven by Emily Mandel, depict their characters as struggling not only with survival, but their sense of their own identity and security. Within Station Eleven, the saying, survival is insufficient is a recurring theme of Interstellar as well. While there are some differences in the characters and themes within Interstellar and Station Eleven, the similarities are the connections to their identity in which they adapt to the force of change within their world. As the characters struggle with adapting, they cling to certain things that allow them to remain sane. As a result, the characters feel like they have a purpose again due to their struggle for survival. Within their harsh and collapsing worlds, Murph and Kirsten are the puzzle pieces that connect their stories together. For example, Murph cracks the code of the theory of gravity with the help of her ghost, her father within the third dimension, providing her the missing information that saves their planet from extinction. • 12. Ancient Kingship and Rulers Essay Kings and rulers started to emerge as soon as people moved away from living in tribes. This was the case with the Jews when they have decided to unite under one ruler. However, long before them the first empire was established in Mesopotamia by Sargon of Akkad in 2334 BCE (Kelly, 2011). The essay will compare kingship in three geographically and chronologically different societies. They are the following: Babylonians during Hammurabi s reign (1792 1750 BCE), Neo Assyrians (934 610 BCE), and the Jews (1000 BCE). In order to avoid historical distortions, primary sources from those time periods will be used. These three communities have influenced each other in different fields. Therefore, we can see similarities in their ruling systems. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the Advice to a Prince, gods only could judge and punish the ruler, for example, if he (ruler) takes silver... Marduk, lord of Heaven and Earth, will set his foes upon him... (Sanders, p.70). Consequently, we can assume that ruler s power have increased enormously, since no matter what he does (even despotism) is supposed to be controlled by gods. Finally, the kingship in Israel has some differences as Jews are monotheistic. Nonetheless, the Jews believed in god s involvement in daily life as well. More importantly, god (Yahweh) was believed to decide who the king is and whether he must be changed (Sanders, p.72). This shows some parallels with Assyrians where gods only could judge the ruler. As a result, it is seen that regardless of regions and number of gods (monotheism or polytheism) rulers in ancient times were connected with divine power. In fact, at ancient times rulers often represented the choice of god(s), whereas presently they represent the choice of people. This, I think, led to more fearful and respectful attitude towards rulers due to their divine support. In addition to the connection with the divine power, rulers in ancient world had one very distinct feature. Almost always rulers were men, with very few exceptions. Thus it is clearly seen that people at that time lived in patriarchal society. Moreover, rulers promoted patriarchy implicitly or sometimes even explicitly through their rules. • 31. Phychoanalysis In Delacroix s Liberty Leading The People While feminism and Marxism work well in hybrid approaches to Delacroix s Liberty Leading the People, the same cannot be said for every methodology. This is especially true in regards to psychoanalysis. It is difficult to apply this approach to an older artist like Delacroix. The methodology is so recent and grounded in being able to converse with the artist. In the case of Delacroix, scholars base their psychoanalytic findings on the artist s writings, both letters and journals. While this can be useful in some cases, such as Wilkin s use of it to determine Delacroix s opinions on other artists, it is not when trying to determine Delacroix thoughts on himself and his own art. This means the scholarship is based on Delacroix s self fashioning. While one can speculate on the subconscious motivations behind his writings, they simply do not add any depth to our understanding of Liberty Leading the People. Scholars try to link psychoanalysis with biography to ground their findings, but this only makes the biography method appear faulty and compromises readers willingness to accept fact. Thus, psychoanalysis does not add anything substantial to the study of Delacroix s painting and should not be used in conjunction with the hybridization of biography, formalism, or social history. An example of a scholar trying to utilize psychoanalysis Jack J. Spector s article Delacroix s Liberty on the Barricades in 1815 and 1830 from 1996. In this study, Spector unsuccessful tries to ... Although Skinner s experiments were generally carried out on animals, his work became widely applied to child development and to work with parents. (How Children Learn, John Holt, p.43). Working with parents means that teachers will work with parents to continue reinforcement at home, for example when a child comes home with a sticker, the parents will be encouraged by the teachers to ask why the child has a sticker, so that the child can develop and understand that they have been good or realise that they have done something well. In my setting we carry out observations and Individual Learning Plans, so that the child, parents and teachers can see the areas of development that the child accomplishes and use positive reinforcement to further develop areas that the child may be lacked in. • 33. Horrifying War In Dulce Et Decorum Est By Wilfred Owen In the poem, Dulce et Decorum Est by Wilfred Owen, shows how truly horrifying war can be. By using incredibly detailed imagery and effective language to show just what happened during war time and making readers experience feelings such as pity, sorrow, and remorse. Owen describes the many hardships that the soldiers went through even so far as describing a deadly gas attack that claimed one of the soldiers and had burned into his mind the scaring imagery of someone he knew choking to death because of the deadly mist that was all around them. Owens poem is very genuine since he had participated in the bloody savagery that was World War 1. The poem begins with a detailed description of the lifestyle and poor conditions that the soldiers had to endure on a day to day basis which led them to age incredibly quickly. Bent double, like old beggars under sacks, Knock kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge This quote suggest that the soldiers were like homeless people, dirty and sick. This comes as a surprise because many people believe that the appearance of soldiers are to be muscular and alethic, not scrawny and weak but their appearances changed drastically because the conditions they were living in were beyond imagination (Owen, p.723). This first quote is where we get the impression that the speaker was there during the events since he uses we to explain how they went through the sludge. • 34. Overview of Pitching Machines Pitching Machines Introduction A compound machine is just what it sounds like it is two or more simple machines combined to make one machine. Technically, the mechanical advantage of having a compound machine is the ¦magnitude by which it reduces the required force, according to the Galileo department website at the University of Virginia. In other words, the mechanical advantage of two machines working in sync as one machine is that the required force is cut in half of what it would be without the machine. In this paper the emphasis is on the compound machine known in the sports training world as the baseball pitching machine. How it Works The website LiveStrong.com points out that there are pitching machines that are battery powered in case the playing field is too far from electrical outlets. Those machines are not as common though as machines that are powered by electricity. Some machines require a human to feed each baseball into the machine (they cost less) but most machines allow the baseball coaches to load up several baseballs at a time. One particular brand, The Heater, allows coaches to load a dozen baseballs in the machine and the machine pitches a ball about every 12 seconds (LiveStrong.com). The versatility of baseball pitching machines is impressive; not only to many pitching machines allow the coaches to change the speed of the pitch from a fastball to a slow change up the machines will throw different pitches, like curveballs at different ... Our world is more connected than ever, and not just from an economic point of view, but from social, political, technological, and cultural as well. Globalization can be defined, analysed, tackled many ways, but this essay seeks to briefly define globalization, introduce the convergence diversity debate, and examine the different types of organizational strategic perspectives in China. The notions of globality can be traced back to the early part of humanity, but the term globalization itself was not coined until the 20th century. From a managerial point of view, there are many implications of convergence. For example, the staff of multinational firms are often expected to move around the organization s global operations. Furthermore, Belief in the transferability of techniques has led management to turn elsewhere for solutions to problems such as organization structures, new market entry, product and process design, controlling labour and cost reduction. (Needle, pp.147) On the other side of the debate, divergence scholars instead assert that national culture, not economic ideology, or technological growth, is (and will continue to be) the dominant force in shaping the values, beliefs, and attitudes...within a country . (Gupta, V.; Wang, J pp. 69) The divergence supporters argue that differences in cultural values can be seen as natural barriers to convergence, and they can only be altered slowly. They insist, that instead of converging on one model, national states and companies aim to be different, so they can be more compatible on the global market. Divergence scholars are convinced that management practices cannot simply be integrated, as cultural differences particularly between Western and Eastern countries are too great. There is a hybrid model which combines the best features of convergent and divergent ideology, called cross vergence. It represents a middle way in the values symbolized by the Western and Eastern world. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. Monologue In The Siree The use of monologue in this poem shapes a paradoxical theme, which makes the siren s motivation blurry. In the context, the poem uses the word song three times in the first lines of three stanzas. The beginning stanzas are monologues of the siren. In the context, the song appears to be irresistibly attractive to the men, that it makes men jump over the board even if they see where they are heading to is scattered with corpses. The footnote of the poem has clarified that this song is chanted by the siren, and it leads to the demise of the sailors. Hence, it is reasonable to presume that the siren produces songs to lure the sailors, and sailors will get killed afterward. However, the poem spends 5 out of 9 stanzas stating that the siren as ... For example, in the 7th and 8th stanza, to you and only respectively appear twice and three times. The siren here addresses the sailor as you , and she extensively repeats the words, as if she sees the sailor as a savior. It can be implied that the siren is so desperate that she attempts to address the importance of the sailor. Also, the siren makes such desperate call by repeating the importance and uniqueness of the sailor over and over again via such anaphora so that she presumes the sailor can be persuaded. The anaphora here no doubt expresses the eagerness that the siren holds in attempts to reach the sailor.
