Mount Everest Pros And Cons
Nepal has eight of the 14 highest mountains in the world, including Mount Everest
Nepalese authorities say that the number of visitors to Sagarmatha National Park, where Everest lies,
has roughly tripled in the past 20 years. With the increasing number of tourists comes a growing
amount of rubbish left behind on mountains: food wrappers, climbing gear, oxygen cylinders, and
even the bodies of climbers who died along the way. The frigid temperatures mean trash does not
biodegrade.
Over the past six decades, an estimated 50 tons of trash has been left on Mount Everest, giving it the
nickname the world s highest garbage dump. Mountaineering associations have complained about the
growing number of inexperienced climbers leaving their garbage behind in an attempt to save the
energy they need to reach the summit or return to base camp alive.
Famous climbers such as Reinhold Messner have said Mount Everest has been trivialized, calling for
Nepal to close off access to the mountain for a handful of years to allow it to recover.
New clean up rules
Now Nepal s tourism ministry has acted, deciding that from this April forward, every climber going
beyond the base camp will be required to bring back at least eight kilograms (17.6 pounds) of their
personal waste and hand it over to officials stationed there. That s the amount the government
estimates an exhausted climber discards along the way. The aim is to make sure that no new trash will
be left on Everest.

Issue Spotters Delta Tools, Inc., markets a product that under some circumstances is capable of
seriously injuring consumers. Does Delta owe an ethical duty to remove this product from the market,
even if the injuries result only from misuse? Why or why not?
I think Delta Tools, Inc. doesn t owe an ethical duty to remove the product from the market unless the
company doesn t warn its customers of the danger they can meet upon misuse of the product. If the
company takes all the measures to warn their customers of the danger of the product once it s misused,
customers have knowledge of the risk and voluntarily assume it. For example, the use of any
antibiotics with the alcohol can lead to many harmful processes and activities. ... Show more content

In addition, Brody and Crawford claimed that THC, in its March 19 and April 24 press releases,
materially misled them about THC s intention to sell the company. The district court granted the
defendant s motion to dismiss the claims. The plaintiffs appealed to the US Court of Appeal, Ninth
Circuit.
ISSUE Are Brody and Crawford the proper plaintiffs to sue THC for damages for violation of the
statute and rule¹ regarding the insider trading?
DECISION No. US Court of Appeal, Ninth circuit, affirmed the district court s decision to dismiss
Brody and Crawford s complaint for failure to state a claim upon which relief can be granted.
REASON The Court noted that plaintiffs did not meet a contemporaneous trading requirement, a
judicially created standing requirement, which specified in Section 14(e) and Rule 14e 3 that the
plaintiffs must have traded in a company s stock at about the same time as the alleged insider. In
addition, the Court decided that the plaintiffs complaint must specify the reason or reasons why the
statements made by THC in its press releases were misleading. Brody and Crawford argued that in
order for statement not to be misleading, once disclosure is made, there is a duty to make it complete
and accurate , for which the Court found no support in the case law. The case law² only

Nile River Research Paper
Argument 5.9: The Amazon, Yangtze, and Mississippi rivers have several tributary rivers that flow
into them. And those rivers are similar to the Nile river. So the Nile has several tributary rivers that

ANALOGICAL NORMATIVE ARGUMENTS Normative Arguments
Analogies are often used in normative arguments, where the conclusion is a normative statement that
something should (or should not) be done, should (or should not) be legal, or that something is good
(or bad) or right (or wrong). Normative statements are often understood as statements about what is
morally or ethically right or wrong.
To support a normative conclusion, an argument must have at least one normative premise. A
normative feature such as is morally wrong or should be done can t just appear out of nowhere in the
conclusion it must first appear in a premise. An analogical argument with a normative gives us just
what we need to follow this rule: a normative premise to support the normative conclusion.

Weaknesses Of Literature
A bewildering number of research reports are published annually. The reports differ with regard to
quality, comprehensibility, and relevance to practice (Mårtensson et.al, 2016). Furthermore, the studies
may have multiple strengths and weaknesses depending on the research methodology they employ.
Therefore, to establish a solid foundation for research on any subject and to prevent the replication of
inaccurate information, it is essential that scholars critically evaluate the available scientific evidence
(Mårtensson et al., 2016). The critical evaluation of philosophies or claims is crucial in the
development of independent thinkers and informed decision makers. It is the only way of
distinguishing among differing claims of truths and determining the credibility or trustworthiness of
different viewpoints. On that note, this essay seeks to analyze two pieces of literature that try to
answer the question as to whether the stimulant use is related to positive academic performance
among college students. In specific, the paper will analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the two
studies and discuss the factors, which influence evidence based practice, with a special consideration
of the PICO elements. Part A Hildt, E., Lieb, K., Franke, A. G. (2014). Life context of

Beetles Global Warming Essay
Sophie Worrell
November 25th 2015
The Effects of Global Warming: The Mountain Pine Beetle and Northwestern American Pine Forests
Across Northwestern America the climate has protected pine forests from parasitic mountain pine
beetles for millennia, but due to recent global climate warming these delicate ecosystems are
experiencing an extreme shift. Normally the beetle population explodes every 25 years or so when
there is a spell of warm winters and hot dry summers. In this natural cycle the beetles kill most of the
older pines. The dead trees lose their needles over the next few years and open the canopy letting light
in. This frees space and nutrients allowing new tree growth. Historically, the climate system kept the
beetle population ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Increased temperatures cause warmer winters and hotter, dryer summers, allowing the beetle
population to expand and put the forests in jeopardy. There are multiple negative effects associated
with the beetle s deforestation. Such deforestation causes a positive climate feedback loop, economic
loss for the lumber and tourism industries, and hydrological impacts, which include alteration of storm
water run off levels, water turbidity, and water quality effects. The impacts of global warming on the
mountain pine beetle population have resulted in unprecedented effects on the Northwestern American

Economic Changes In The South Essay
There were many changes to the South after a long and brutal Civil War. The most significant of these,
was the change to the overall economic system of the South. After Slavery and the cotton industry was
shattered, the South was left with figuring out how to fix a once rich land founded on slavery. The first
example of economic change in the South was in how African Americans began to support themselves
economically. Plantations in the South were virtually workerless after African Americans were
emancipated. Not only that, they were left economically in debt from the destruction caused by the
Civil War. This left the Plantation owners at a loss of ability to function and since most African
Americans didn t want to go back to work for plantation owners, the Black Codes were created. The ...

Sharecropping involved a landlord giving land for tenants to farm for a share of the crop. Tenants
rented this land and were also given supplies by their landlord such as seed, farming equipment and
fertilizer. Of course, these supplies were also rented and often the only person the tenant was allowed
to sell their crop to, was their landlord. The landlord decided what prices were available to the tenant
and how much things cost. Often crops were unpredictable and landlords were very unfair with their
prices. This would leave the tenants in debt that would carry over year after year. This, in a way, tied
the tenants to the land so that they could never leave the landlord and left them in a constant state of
crippling poverty. According to PBS.com, two thirds of all sharecroppers were white and only one
third were black. This of course has room for landlords, but this also implies that some sharecroppers
were white citizens left in complete poverty after the Civil War. Overall, the biggest changes in the
south were clearly economic and did not only affect the African American population, but the
European population as

Rape and Intimate Partner Abuse
In every 45 seconds, someone is sexually violated in the United States. Out of every 6 women, one has
experienced an attempted rape or complete rape. Lesbians and bisexual women remain at increased
risk of sexual victimization compared to heterosexual women. In order for a woman to determine the
direction of her life, she must first determine her sexuality. Sexuality is a deep, integral part of any
human s life. This should not be a subject of coercion or debate. The society must recognize that a
woman has the right to freely pre determine her sexuality without oppression and discrimination
(Burn, 2004). Traditionally, women throughout history and culture have undertaken the role of
independent, non heterosexual, women connected existence. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

If violence was to take place between two intimate women in a lesbian relationship, the violence
would seem to be nothing more than a cat fight. It would not be surprising for the majority to ask what
harm could really be done by two women. The violence that exists between women in a lesbian
relationship is in deliberate opposition to the traditional female/feminine gender role stereotype deeply
entrenched in the society. This stereotype combined with the belief that women are naturally weak and
lack stature and strength to inflict any serious harm to each other calls for the dismissal of any serious
violence between two intimate women (Walters, 2011). Currently, there is a consensus in statistics
regarding the rate of lesbian intimate partner violence. However, it is thought that the occurrence of
lesbian intimate partner violence is comparable to the heterosexual domestic violence rates. Studies
conducted in the past indicated that between 41 percent and 68 percent of all lesbians have at one
point experienced some kind of abuse in the intimate relationship in the hands of their partners. The
studies estimate that 90 percent of lesbians experience verbal abuse while between 7 percent and 48
percent experience physical abuse. Apparently, between 5 percent and 57 percent of women in lesbian
relationships experience some kind of sexual assault within the relationships context at some point in
their life. Due to

Charles Eisenstein Disruption
During the tenth week of my HUMI 1 class, I was deeply intrigued with the topic of disruption
because it was something that I always viewed as a negative but soon found out that it can also be
seen and used as a benefit. Charles Eisenstein discusses how disruption can be seen as a form of
raising awareness towards something. You get the idea that we as people, are sometimes too far in the
moment to realize what is happening around us as we are indulged in our own activities. When that
occurs, disruption comes into play allowing for us to be conscious of our surroundings and the
importance of something. Because disruption is something that I have experience with, I wanted to

Cellular Respiration Research Paper
Respiration is very important in providing energy to your body, all living things run on energy. Energy
is provided from different sources, for an example plant life receives its energy source from the Sun.
All other forms of life receive energy through cellular respiration. Cellular respiration happens in three
stages; Glycolysis, The Krebs Cycle, Electron transport chain and chemiosmosis. The cellular
respiration process can be aerobic or anaerobic.
In order for the human body to function it requires energy, the body s energy source comes from the
food we eat on a daily bases. We consume carbohydrates, fats, and proteins that our body uses to
convert to energy. The process of converting these foods into a useable source of energy is Cellular ...

It breaks down simple sugar or glucose into pyruvates to make energy available to cells. The first step
of the process involves two phosphate groups attaching to one glucose molecule to form a carbon
compound with two phosphate groups. The phosphate groups are converted into molecules of ADP or
Adenosine diphosphate, which is the de energized form of ATP. The carbon compound is then split
into carbon molecules glyceraldehyde 3 phosphates, which are oxidized and each receives a phosphate
group, forming three carbon compound molecules. The oxidation of glyceraldehyde 3 phosphates
reduces molecules, and removes the phosphate groups.
The Krebs cycle is the second stage of aerobic respiration, also known as the tricarboxylic acid cycle
or citric acid cycle. Citric acid is the first product generated by this sequence of chemical conversions.

Benefits Of Web Application Development
Web application is gradually making way into businesses owing to its multi functionality and client
centric benefits. A web application is a mix of two script namely client side like HTML and JavaScript
and the server side like PHP. The former script is responsible for presenting data while the latter is
utilized for date retention.
A web apps project involves primarily 4 phases of project analysis, planning, development and
formalization. All 4 phases work in tandem with each other to build an all inclusive, usable application
for the user. Though, it may be sometimes too tough for users to switch between two web applications
nevertheless, this does not wear down its vitality.

Browser Compatibility
It is imperative to test run web applications for cross browser compatibility, firstly on Firefox, as it
offers an easy to debug and issue resolving option. Other considerations while designing a web
application for browsers are:
Use div instead of tables as they offer the same functionality and can be easily spot by browsers
Use Internet Explorer 6 to showcase images that are transparent
Use JavaScript scroller to read marquee HTML tag on Internet Explorer
Define the exact image dimensions for testing images in Firefox
Use HTML embed tag to include background sound and change its attributes for repetition effect
Reset CSS to avoid inconsistent effects of the web page across browsers
Use commonly used fonts which can be found on every user s computer
Use relative positioning of elements so they look consistent on all browsers
Interface Development
A good web application is the one that offers a smooth interface experience for its users. There are
ways to create smart, intuitive and visually appealing interfaces, these are:
Select the most common functions of your application and cut down the rest. This can be

The objective of writing this reflective essay is to assess the developments and learning I experienced
during Buxton residential; pertaining to working as a group and individually with a view of improving
my shortcomings. I was assessed and given feedback by the supervisor in the areas I was not

I am reviewing the work I performed in the group under the current research and methods to present
the learning I gained from the feedback and guidance provided by the supervisors. (Tuckman, Belbin,

In the last activities I performed, I did my part for the team and did efforts for the team as a whole, not
completely for personal achievement. I did understand the point of working as a team not as an
individual working separately than the team working as one. (Tuckman, 1965, pp 396)
Leadership:
I was given the opportunity to lead in single activity which required to guide the team members based
on communication. I did planned and guided my members and explain them how we will work in that
activity according to my mindset and priorities. The problem I experienced was that regardless of the
understanding between group members, I was still not able to guide my colleagues to perform as I
expected. The main reason for me not delivering what I expected was that I didn t accounted for other
member s thoughts and priorities. (Beth Charles, 2011, pp 463)
In some of the other activities, I was working as a member however, I have to take control of the
situation as I built a general understanding of the group work and do take leadership role in the group
whenever required. (Belbin, 2010, pp 65)(Henny, 2008, pp501)
Communication Skills:
For me at the first it was a disaster in terms of performing in the team. The reason for that was the
absence of understanding and communication skills in me. (Tuckman, 1965, pp

Knuckleball Research Paper
MLB breaking balls can easily be the hardest pitches to throw. You have to have a certain grip on the
ball. You have to have a certain throwing motion to be able to make them break/move. You also need
to be able to throw the ball at the right speed and the speed with your arm motion has to be a certain
speed as well. There are three breaking balls that can make or break a pitcher in the MLB. The first
pitch that I will talk about is the knuckleball. Knuckleballs are one of the hardest pitches to
consistently control because it seems to just float in the air and can t be easily placed. The NPR says,

The most important finger to be able to throw the curveball is the middle finger. The pitcher will find
a seam that will give resistance to the middle finger to get more control and spin on the ball. This is
how the spin on the curveball is so tight. According to Steven Ellis, The throwing elbow must be equal
to or slightly above the throwing shoulder. You must stay over the top when you throw the curveball.
Throwing it when it s under your shoulder then you put additional stress on your arm. Also if the arm
is at an angle larger than 90 degrees then it also puts additional stress on your arm. The placement of
your arm will be alot closer to your head then you re normal fastball. It will be slightly up and away
from your ear. When you release the curveball you want to release it out in front of you. The way you
release the ball is the type of action you want the pitch to have. When releasing a curveball, your wrist
will be hooked and your hand will pull down in front of your body, says Steven Ellis. The further you
release the ball from your head, the less grip you will have on the ball, resulting in a looser spin on
your pitch. It is extremely important that you maintain similar arm speed with your curveball that you
have with your fastball. A hitter reads arm speed. says Steven

Examples Of Monty Hall Problem
Bayes Theorem and the Monty Hall Problem Faizan Hasan Introduction The Monty Hall problem is
that has troubled many, including myself when I first heard of it. The Monty Hall problem is based on
a game show from the 1960 s, named Let s Make a Deal, where the host Monty Hall offers a
contestant a choice to choose between three doors. Behind two of which are goats and the other one
contains a very desirable car. He asks the contestant to choose one door where they would assume the
car is. At this point Monty Hall knows what s behind each door. After the contestant has chosen a door
for example lets say the contestant chose door number 1, Monty Hall opens one door which he knows
contains a goat which for now we can assume to be door number 2, he then offers the contestant
whether they want to change their choice to door number 3 or stay with their original choice of door
number 1. It has confused many people about whether they should switch doors or stick to the one
they choose originally, So which one would be the best one to increase the probability for you winning
the car? Rationale ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When I was made to choose which option I would choose to stay or switch doors I said that it would
make no difference, my reasoning behind that was you had one third chance when you first chose a
door to win the car, and once the door containing the goat was opened you had 50/50 chance of
winning the car, as you had two options. However I was then told that the correct decision always was
to switch to the other door if you wanted to maximize your chance at winning the car. To solve this
problem I did some research and discovered the best way to solve the problem is using Bayes

When analyzing the respondents answers to specific questions regarding the lack of diversity within

How Did The Industrial Revolution Change America
The Industrial Revolution was a pivotal moment in American history as it marked the shift from an
agrarian economy to an industrial. It sparked the growth of communication and transportation sectors.
This allowed the country to become more connected and more efficient. The major changes in
America during this time allowed for economic growth at the state level. The Industrial Revolution
was the key factor in American advancements in communication, transportation, and economic
growth. These upgraded industries propelled us to where we are as a country today. The transition
from an agricultural to an industrial economy took quite some time for America to complete.

Americans can thank the Gilded Age for this, as a lot of new inventions revolving around
communication were put into use and advanced the country one step closer to the modern world we
live in today. The telephone and telegraph were arguably the most significant inventions of the
Industrial Revolution. The telephone made communication more efficient, instead of having to write a
letter and mail it, you could use an invention to speak immediately. Not only did the telegraph make
communication easier as well, it also helped the unity of the nation, people we re able to talk with
each other from different parts of the country easier (www.history.com/topics/industrial revolution).
The telegraph made the standard of living for Americans better. The telegraph made railroads easier to
function at the time, which was extremely important because that meant the shipping of goods and raw
materials could be faster and go be delivered from longer distances, thus this form of communication
boosted the American economy s strength. The telegraph stretched across the continent as did the
railroads, the telephone and typewriter were invented, and a cable was successfully laid across the
atlantic ocean providing quicker and cheaper communication between the continents. (Robert V.
Remini, 172). The radio however, was completely and utterly revolutionary. The radio engaged the
nation on every issue there was, and because of it every american was on page and up to date on what
was going on with the country weather it was politically, athletically, or anything. During the great
depression for example, the president would speak to all of the american people through the radio
reassuring them, telling them all what they needed to do to make sure the country s economy could be
reliable again. The radio made communication more efficient just as the last two inventions, but it

The Vietnam War Was A Significant Moment For Canada
The Vietnam War was a historically significant moment for Canada which followed the First and
Second World War. This was due to Canada s large involvement in helping the South of Vietnam in
their war efforts. Canada plays a large roll in this war costs and their manufacturing for war materials.
One must first know how the war began before understanding how Canada contributed. Although the
start of the Vietnam War had nothing to do with Canada, later events in the war were related to Canada
largely. The beginning of the war is a crucial part in how we got involved in the Vietnam War. On May
7th 1954, Viet Minh had finally won the Battle of Dien Bien Phu marking the end of the First
Indochina War. This was a breakthrough for Vietnam because this meant that France was no longer
involved with Vietnam, and the French would then seize fire. A new government would now rule
Vietnam. The North of Vietnam was becoming communist while the South of Vietnam was becoming
more anti communist. The United States of America feared that if communism took over Vietnam, it
would then start to spread to South East Asia. The United States of America feared this possibility
because it would then be a much greater threat to them than they thought originally. On the 8th of
March 1965 the United States of America decided to take action and form an alliance with South
Vietnam anti communist forces and they sent 3, 500 soldiers to fight in the Vietnam War. This number

The Human Condition Essay
The Human Condition
Does life ever seem pointless and discouraging? In Albert Camus s The Myth of Sisyphus, Camus
describes the correlation between Sisyphus s fate and the human condition. In the selection, everyday
is the same for Sisyphus. Sisyphus is condemned to rolling a rock up a mountain for eternity. Camus s
The Myth of Sisyphus forces one to contemplate Sisyphus s fate, how it relates to the human
condition, and how it makes the writer feel about her part in life.
Camus states if this myth is tragic, that is because its hero is conscious (Camus). Condemned by the
gods, Sisyphus does not acknowledge his fate until after the rock rolls back down the mountain and he

Instead, he starts to find meaning in his fate, starts to enjoy what he does, almost to take pride in his
work, like a true laborer. Thus, Sisyphus is the absurd hero, because, like people he has a goal he
believes that he can ultimately accomplish (Camus). He, in his own small way spites the gods by
taking delight in pushing this rock over and over again.
How might one feel about this essay and her position in life? The writer feels as though life in essence
is futile and hopeless (Camus). For example, day after day the writer continually gets up and goes to
school. Many will feel disheartened by another day of doing things he or she may not want to do.
Nevertheless, one would rather go to school and endure the torture of being in school than sitting at
home for hours on end doing absolutely nothing or at a job she may not enjoy. Hence, why students
welcome the summer, but after a few weeks they yearn to be in school again or why the depressed are
depressed. The writer is no different. One is happiest when there are responsibilities to fill one s day
rather than a day without promise.
Life can seem futile and hopeless. However, it only seems that way to people who don t take pleasure
in what they do. Sisyphus realizes that if he just sat around all day instead of pushing that rock, he

Why Do Chinese Courts Accept Precedents And The Judicial...
TO WHAT EXTENT, DO CHINESE COURTS ACCEPT PRECEDENTS AS A REFERENCE IN
JUDICIAL DECISION MAKING?
In the course of globalization, there is a trend for legal systems in common law jurisdiction and civil
law jurisdiction to learn and absorb the advantages from each other. In general, common law countries
now have more codifications of statutes than before whereas civil law countries have become more
active in promoting the use of precedents. As for the People Republic of China (hereafter China or the
people republic ), it has gone through years of debates regarding whether it should adopt the Doctrine
of Precedent, which refer to case law system in common law jurisdiction, as a civil law countries.
Despite the fact that many scholars ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Black s Law Dictionary (1990), a precedent is an adjudged case or decision of a court
which is regarded as an example or authority for a subsequent case or a latter question of law on
identical or similar issues. However, this has not clearly explained how the precedent regime used in
common law jurisdiction is different from one that a state from statute law jurisdiction may use. As
Goodhart points out, the real differences in the two systems are the binding effect of decided cases
(Doctrine of Precedent). It would be too complex to explain the whole rule of binding precedent here
and, for the sake of the latter discussion, we only need to know one aspect: while precedent cases
create no legal obligation for a civil law judge to follow, a judge from common law countries is
obligated to follow a precedent judgment and the legal reasoning in it made by a superior court or a
court in the same level if a subsequence case contains identical facts and issues.
Based on this difference, some observers claim that China does not have a formal binding precedent
system and also denies the value of the established precedent regime in current China. Admittedly,
there is no legal recognition granting to an establishment of case law system in China, but this does

Lord Of The Flies Allusion Analysis
Human has the humanity which is a combined of heart, peace, care, help, and love. And thinking make
us different from other living organelles, thinking a head of what would happen before do anything.
Human is a curious person but there are some smarter than others because they understand the
problem and try to find a solutions from different point of views. But what can stop us... what can

Lord of the Flies allusion to many things that help us to understand the story like the Garden of Eden.
The garden was similar to the island. Ralph said, This is our island. It s a good island. Until the
grownups come to fetch us, we ll have fun (Golding 35). At the beginning of the book, the boys had to
discover the island to know it, and some of them were naked because they were innocent and didn t
know much as an adult person. They didn t know if this is right or wrong. Adam and Eve knew
nothing about life, garden, themselves, and others. They had to discover and learn things. It would be
easier to learn the right things from the beginning, because it will reduce the consequences for the
person and society. In addition, Jack said, I ought to be chief, (Golding 20). Jack was similar to Eve
because she persuaded Adam to eat from the tree and Jack persuaded the kids to follow him and
supported him as a leader. They did it because the desire made them as a blind person who pretended

A Brief Note On The Outbreak Of Ebola

Rise Above Ebola
The latest outbreak of Ebola is one of the largest epidemics in history. Starting in West Africa, it has
spread to neighboring countries such as Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, causing numerous fatalities
(Darrel, 2014). The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has identified five different strains of the Ebola
virus Zaire, Sudan, Reston, Bundibugyo and Tai with Zaire and Sudan cited as being the most harmful
strains with 68% and 53% average death rate respectively (Darell, 2014). The first strain of Ebola was
discovered in 1976, in the Dominican Republic of Congo, and was contained until the recent
mutations of different strains (Felscher, 2013). There is evidence that experimental drug, ZMapp, has
helped treat Ebola infected individuals (Parshley,2014). Although ZMapp can be an expensive drug to
produce, Ebola patients should be allowed to get access to this because it can help control their
prognosis and mortality rate.
Why is Ebola a Concern?
Ebola is a global concern primarily because the disease is deadly, and scientists and researchers have
very minimal information about the newer strains of Ebola. Due to the very little data, countries are
less willing to send their top researchers to Ebola stricken countries to conduct researches (Hewlett,
2007). According to the World Health Organization (WHO), there has

The Wizard Of Oz By Victor Fleming
Lions, and tigers, and bears, oh my! More like a disappointment, a disaster, a failure, and a complete
waste of my time. The 1939 MGM production of The Wizard of Oz, mainly directed by Victor
Fleming, is a horrendous motion picture based on the best seller, classic novel The Wonderful Wizard
of Oz, written by L. Frank Baum and illustrated by W. W. Denslow. But what makes MGM s
production sheer filth and putrefaction? The Wizard of Oz is a horrible movie because of innumerable
audio problems, terrible continuity editing skills, and copious cockamamie mistakes.
Primarily, The Wizard of Oz focuses on Dorothy (Judy Garland), a young, beautiful girl from Kansas,
who is taken, along with her dog Toto (Terry), to a dream land named Oz by a tornado. Suddenly,
Glinda (Billie Burke), the Good Witch of the North, materializes and explains all that has happened to
Dorothy. Dorothy obviously wishes to return home; however, the Wicked Witch of the West (Margaret
Hamilton) makes a astonishing appearance. Dorothy receives security from the Wicked Witch of the
West, from Glinda, in the form of ruby slippers. The Wicked Witch of the West leaves and Dorothy is
pushed along the yellow brick road, by Glinda, to uncover the Wizard of Oz and get his help to return
to Kansas. Through her journey, Dorothy overcomes an assortment of obstacles and meets a talking
scarecrow (Ray Bolger), a tin man (Jack Haley) and a cowardly lion (Bert Lahr). These characters are

the impairment to the left shoulder as a result of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Based on my review of his report, I do not believe the applicant has sought any treatment or made any
significant complaints with respect to the left shoulder. I only saw the mentioning of a shoulder pain
as a result of the chest wall and sternal discomfort as the applicant was unable to raise his hands over
his head at the time. There was no specific mentioning of the left shoulder.
Second, I would like to question Dr. Minor about his impairment finding for the bilateral knees. More
specifically, I would like to know where he saw a 1mm cartilage loss of both knees. I suspect he must
have seen it on an imaging study (i.e., X ray or MRI) but it was not explicitly documented in the
report (or I may have missed it).
Third, I will question him about his finding of impairment as a result of a sleep disorder and cognitive
impairment. More specifically, I would like to know if there are any objective findings to support
these impairments.
Fourth, I will question him about his impairment findings regarding binaural as well as the 3% pain
add on for tinnitus. I believe the binaural impairment was given in connection with the applicant s left
ear problem. Also, pain add on is inappropriate to increase an impairment on a body part with zero
impairment. If we could change Dr. Minor s opinion on the base impairment for the applicant s ear
problem, we may be able to wash out the 3% pain add on all together.
Fifth, I will question him about his apportionment

Disease and Native American Demise During the European Conquest of the New World
The European conquest of the new world was most commonly attributed to the superiority of the
Europeans in all the facets of their confrontation. They had the superior weaponry, and were thought
to have a superior intellect. After all, they were just bringing civilization to the new world, right? It
sounds nice when you are learning about Columbus in grade school, but the traditional story is pretty
far from the truth. The truth is that the Europeans, when they discovered this was a brand new world
and not the spice islands, sought to rape the land for its gold and natural resources and enslave the
Amerindians (native Americans), who were regarded to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is the type of disease you contract as a child, fight off, and develop an immunity for in adulthood.
An example of this is chicken pox. Most Americans have suffered, or will suffer, from chicken pox as
a child. One becomes sick for a little while, recovers, and never suffers from the disease again. Now
with the differences between epidemic and endemic clarified, I will move on to the origins of disease.
The origin of disease is a relatively easy idea to understand. Human beings on the planet went through
a transition from nomadic, hunter gatherers to the sedentary lifestyle by utilizing agriculture. This
brought relatively small bands of people together into villages, which eventually became towns and
cities. In Europe, the people not only used agriculture to feed their growing population, they also
domesticated animals for a food source. As the population grew, the size of the herds of animals
needed to feed the people grew as well. All animals carry disease and parasites, both in the wild and
when they are domesticated. However, domesticated animals proved to be a breeding ground for
disease. These domesticated animals were in close contact with the growing population of Europeans
and it was not long before the disease was transferred to humans. The microbe, virus, or parasite only
had to adapt to living in a human host. The process was relatively quick, and thus the epidemic disease
was born in Europe. This was not true for

to live financially. Corresponding to TradeSchools.net, there are many places around the world that

Carl Sandburg was a three time Pulitzer prize winning poet, writer, and editor. As he was growing up,
Sandburg s family struggled with poverty, which engendered him to drop out of school early in his

How Did Connecticut Get Its Shape
Connecticut got its shape in three major ways. Those are ways are glaciation, plate tectonics, and
weathering and erosion. One major way Connecticut got its shape was from glaciation. For example,
glaciation formed Jobs Pond. Jobs Pond is a giant kettle hole, which is a depression caused by the
impact of a massive chunk of ice, or a glacier. According to The Mystery Of Jobs Pond, geologists and
hydrologists the water level rises and falls with the groundwater level in the area, because porous sand
and gravel make up the bottom of the pond. A kettle hole is formed by a glacier, so glaciation formed
Jobs Pond. Another landscape formed by glaciation is recessional moraines. A recessional moraine is a
pile of rocks left behind when a glacier recedes, or moves back. As a glacier moves, it picks up rocks
in a process called plucking. Then, as the glacier starts to melt, it recedes. As it does this it drops off
rocks, forming a recessional moraine. Recessional moraines, formed from glaciation, are found all
along the Connecticut shoreline. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Global Problem Of Global Trade Essay
There is no doubt that the importance of global trade is one of the most integral aspects out of which
human beings began their dominance of this planet. If history books tell us anything, it is that the
some of the most important and powerful countries had their beginnings in early global trade. One of
the most well known countries which took to the high seas in their venture to dominate global trade is
Portugal. Their story has been told and re told time and time again, always positioning them as a
leader during the Age of Discovery, a time in which finding the fastest overseas trade routes for items
such as spices lead to other discoveries as well. While Portugal will always be able to reflect on past
achievements and their footnote in the infancy of a global network, they still find themselves situated
as a participating member of a less glorious and more ominous trade venture. Portugal s role in the
global illegal trafficking of drugs and human beings is a controversial and hot button issue on a
multitude of socio political levels. While their inclusion into this dark world is by no means voluntary,
their participation in the illegal trafficking trade is a symptom of what could arguably be considered
one of their leading characteristics which allowed them to dominant the Golden Era; geographic
positionality. A recent document leaked from a global intelligence firm in 2012 succinctly sums up
their inherent problem:

the liquid. This substance makes it much more challenging for different parts of the engine to move
freely, in turn, causing your truck to work harder and less effectively.
Lube and oil changes are a part of preventative maintenance that are critical. Typically, it is
recommended that you get lube and oil changes every three to five thousand miles. Mobile Lube
Truck On Site Service companies can help to assist you with these. After visiting a Mobile Lube Truck

Mainstream Schooling Is Culturally Bound
In this essay I will address the ways in which mainstream schooling is culturally bound, and why this
is a problem for those who have disabilities. Mainstream schools can be determined as a school of
traditional education or a normal school (Spielgaben, 2015). This categorises mainstream schools
within New Zealand as schools of English medium that follow the New Zealand Curriculum and are
state schools. These English medium schools work with the National Standards system which set
specific expectations for students to have met in the key learning areas of reading, writing and
mathematics (Ministry of Education, 2012). This system is just one of the ways in which mainstream
schooling is culturally bound. The Oxford Dictionaries (2015) defines culturally bound as restricted in
character or outlook by belonging or referring to a particular culture. Due to these schools following
particular systems it makes it difficult to cater to the different groups that attend these schools. The
second way in which mainstream schooling is culturally bound, that I will address, is that most often
teachers in these schools do not have the time, resources or skills to teach the diversity of disabilities
due to a stronger focus of teaching by the curriculum. This results in more efforts needing to be made
to support those with disabilities. I will focus on the common disabilities and special needs in the
context of students in mainstream schools, such hearing impairments, physical and

HEY GUYS! GUYS! WE GOT TO TALK ABOUT 284! I just read it and I got a lot to talk about!
Because seriously, this is quite possibly one of the most hilarious and incompetent stories I ve ever
seen. Yes, Archie fans, I mean that. I knew this comic was going to be a mess after reading the
summary for this, but this is ridiculous and we got to talk about everything in this, because train
wrecks like this don t happen often. This issues fails in some of the most basic ways possible that if I
didn t know better, I would swear this is a parody. Now I usually do analysis posts where I talk about
overall problems, but this is something that needs to be experienced so we are going to talk about this
scene by scene to we can enjoy this massive 5 car pileup. But before we can do that we need to talk
about the first car to start this mess for a second, 283. Now I do plan to talk about 283 in more detail
as it shows a lot of the problems of this comic when it comes to pacing and structure, but it s relevant
to 284 as it is a massive setup for it. Not just that it is prepping for the following for issues, it s also an
issue that sets up the punchline. The entire issue is dedicated to Sally, Sonic and Chip detailing what
their plan is. A common cliché ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now it completely misses the point of doing this that instead of it trying to show the weaknesses of the
characters or to show how they weren t up to the task, this has things bad things happen because Flynn
wanted bad things to happen. But that could at least be ok, it is was willing to commit to the tragedy
and kept the drama intact. This comic, on the other hand, keep doing the dumbest things to undermine
its own drama. Not only in scenes like Germal getting dragged off like a looney tune character and
then dogged piled on to hold him down or the over the top tempting fate in the beginning, but in
scenes like this where it is 3 frames over from being a

along with networks within networks that are pervasive throughout the series. In season one of A
Game of Thrones, King Robert, of Westeros, asks his old friend, Lord Stark, to serve as Hand of the
King, or the second in command. Secretly warned that the previous Hand and dear friend to both Lord
Stark and the King Robert was assassinated, Lord Stark accepts the offer only to investigate the
former Hand s assassination further. Meanwhile the Queen s family, the Lannister s, the wealthiest
house in the realm may be hatching a plot to take power of the Seven Kingdoms. Across the sea, the
last two members of the previously overthrown family, the Targaryens, are also scheming to regain the
throne. The eldest of the two remaining Targaryen s, Viserys is attempting to arrange a wedding
between his sister Daenerys to a Dothraki horse lord (leader of an estimated 40,000 fighters) in an
attempt to build an army through marriage. Unbeknownst to the rest of the kingdom, a heavier threat
heads south from the northern outreaches of the kingdom to destroy the realm, the only thing that
stands in the way are a band of misfit criminals sentenced to the wall (a mile high, thousands of miles

Strategic Leadership Case Study Infosys
Introduction
This paper embodies two case studies to illustrate the issues of strategic leadership of a leading
company; Infosys based in India and provides regional and global technology services in engineering
and software development. Infosys was founded in 1981 by Narayana Murthy and six other Software
Engineers (Hoover). The first case is based on strategic leadership issues in 2014, when the founders
stepped down into non executive positions after almost three decades to appoint the first non founding
chief executive officer (CEO) and managing director; Vishal Sikka
(https://www.infosys.com/newsroom/press releases/Pages/ceo announcement.aspx). The second case
is based on strategic leadership issues in 2017 when Infosys s 3 year ... Show more content on

Murthy has also contributed in leading key corporate governance initiatives in India (Barnabas,
Joseph, Clifford, 2010). In 2005 at the World Economic Forum, he defined a business leader as one
who shoulders the biggest responsibility to seek the truth, communicate it to other stakeholders and
live by the truth (Bhattacharya, 2005). According to Spears (2004), the attributes that are key to a
servant leader are listening, empathy, healing, awareness, persuasion, conceptualization, foresight,
stewardship, commitment to growth of people and building community all of which can be seen in
Murthy s leadership. He had a holistic approach to work and shared the power of decision making as
he promoted a sense of community (Greenleaf, 1990). Another leadership style Murthy exhibited was
transformational leadership from the very beginning when he first had the vision to create the
company and sold the vision to the other six people and convinced them to climb on board the
bandwagon contributing to team proactivity (Wu Wang, 2015). In fact, Barnabas, Joseph, and Clifford
(2010) state that servant leadership is a long transformational approach to work and life in the sense of
having the potential to create positive changes in society (Spears, 2004). Murthy also fits in the

Anne Moody and the Black Panthers Essay
During the 1960s, many Black Americans drew attention to the inequalities among races in society.
Protest groups formed and demonstrations highlighting discrimination towards dark people were a
common practice for civil rights activists. Some activists believed non violence was the only way to
overcome, and others, such as Anne Moody and the Black Panthers, had a more aggressive attitude
towards gaining freedom. In her autobiography, The Coming of Age in Mississippi, Anne Moody
describes the hardships of growing up in the heavily racist South, and displays the price you pay daily
for being Black. (p.361) She grows tired of seeing her Black companions beaten, raped, murdered, and
denied their opportunity to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In general, they felt that African Americans had been treated as second class citizens since the end of
the Civil War solely because they were Black. The Panthers developed a platform called the Ten Point
Program that described the changes they demanded to see in American society. They wanted a country
in which Black children are provided the same educational opportunities as White children, and
thought that Blacks could only progress by being taught the true history of Black oppression in the
U.S. They demanded that Black Americans have jobs that paid the same wages as Whites and weren t
limited to labor intensive positions. The party also felt that the police force instigated more conflict
and violence than protection, and believed they needed to provide security for Blacks by themselves.
Although they were known for using gun power when necessary, the Panthers envisioned a peaceful
society under a just government where all races could live together. Simply put, the Black Panthers
felt the United States government was not allowing Black Americans to the live in the land of equal
opportunity, but rather denying them the freedoms and liberties constitutionally entitled to them. The
Black Panthers wanted African Americans to be able to determine their destiny.
Because the Black Panthers felt society and government were withholding African Americans from
social progress, they took some matters into their own hands. They promoted more just

Analysis Of The Kansas City Preventive Patrol Experiment
The Kansas City Preventative Patrol Experiment was conducted in October 1972 by the Kansas City
Police to test the effects of marked police patrol units on the incidence of crime to deter crime and
ended in 1973. The experiment lasted over a year and was evaluated by the Police Foundation,
established by the Ford Foundation, which also provided funding and technical assistance for the
education of police. The Kansas City Preventative Patrol Experiment in policing ranked among the
few major social experiments ever to be completed and still used today in American policing.
(Kelling, G. L., Pate, T., Dieckman, D., Brown, C. E., 1974) The design of the Kanas City
Preventative Patrol Experiment was to test the assumption that marked police units patrolling the
streets can prevent individuals from committing crimes. Areas of the city were assigned either no
routine patrols the proper level of patrols and substantially increased patrols. The concept of
preventive patrol postulated the self evident truth that the mere presence of the police or reasonable
potential for their presence would deter criminals from committing offenses in the immediate
geographic area of the patrol (Deployment by analysis, 2000).
The beginning of the experiment assigned officers to patrol areas called beats. Each officer patrols his
or her beat until assigned a call by the police dispatcher (Cornder, 2016, p. 386). The patrol
experiment varied 15 beats, but the routine preventative patrol was

Theories Of Personality Theory
Theories of Personality Dispositional and Evolutionary or Biological Personality Your Name
Institution Theories of Personality Dispositional and Evolutionary or Biological Personality Scientists
believe that personality is often a huge factor that determines the choices that we make in daily lives.
Personality is not unique to humans, animals also have distinct personalities; any pet owner will agree.
The question that we are first inclined to ask is what is personality? Why do we need it? The answer to
the first question is fairly simple; according to Feist Rosenberg (2009), personality is a pattern of
relatively permanent traits and unique characteristics that give both consistency and individuality to a
person s behaviour . There are two approaches as far as personality theories are concerned, viz.
dispositional theory and biological or trait based theories. These theories are constitute of many other
smaller theories. The primary theorists discussed in the following sections are Eysenck, Alloport,
Tupes, Goldberg and Christal. Dispositional Personality theory Dispositional personality theory is a
combination of theories with a central theme; all of them attribute personality to innate attributes of an
individual. According to the dispositional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
in his book Dimensions of Personality Eysenck (1947) proposed a three factor personality model.
Other proponents of the trait based model of personality was Allport, (1961) who divided personality
into cardinal traits, central traits and secondary traits. According to Allport, the cardinal traits are most
important as an individual s main life choices are determined by these traits. The Central traits
determine the rules for daily interactions and most people have five to ten central traits. Finally, the
secondary traits are occasional attributes that are displayed only under special

  • 2. Mount Everest Pros And Cons Nepal has eight of the 14 highest mountains in the world, including Mount Everest Nepalese authorities say that the number of visitors to Sagarmatha National Park, where Everest lies, has roughly tripled in the past 20 years. With the increasing number of tourists comes a growing amount of rubbish left behind on mountains: food wrappers, climbing gear, oxygen cylinders, and even the bodies of climbers who died along the way. The frigid temperatures mean trash does not biodegrade. Over the past six decades, an estimated 50 tons of trash has been left on Mount Everest, giving it the nickname the world s highest garbage dump. Mountaineering associations have complained about the growing number of inexperienced climbers leaving their garbage behind in an attempt to save the energy they need to reach the summit or return to base camp alive. Famous climbers such as Reinhold Messner have said Mount Everest has been trivialized, calling for Nepal to close off access to the mountain for a handful of years to allow it to recover. New clean up rules Now Nepal s tourism ministry has acted, deciding that from this April forward, every climber going beyond the base camp will be required to bring back at least eight kilograms (17.6 pounds) of their personal waste and hand it over to officials stationed there. That s the amount the government estimates an exhausted climber discards along the way. The aim is to make sure that no new trash will be left on Everest. In the future every ... Does Delta owe an ethical duty to remove this product from the market, even if the injuries result only from misuse? Why or why not? I think Delta Tools, Inc. doesn t owe an ethical duty to remove the product from the market unless the company doesn t warn its customers of the danger they can meet upon misuse of the product. If the company takes all the measures to warn their customers of the danger of the product once it s misused, customers have knowledge of the risk and voluntarily assume it. In addition, Brody and Crawford claimed that THC, in its March 19 and April 24 press releases, materially misled them about THC s intention to sell the company. The district court granted the defendant s motion to dismiss the claims. The plaintiffs appealed to the US Court of Appeal, Ninth Circuit. ISSUE Are Brody and Crawford the proper plaintiffs to sue THC for damages for violation of the statute and rule¹ regarding the insider trading? DECISION No. US Court of Appeal, Ninth circuit, affirmed the district court s decision to dismiss Brody and Crawford s complaint for failure to state a claim upon which relief can be granted. REASON The Court noted that plaintiffs did not meet a contemporaneous trading requirement, a judicially created standing requirement, which specified in Section 14(e) and Rule 14e 3 that the plaintiffs must have traded in a company s stock at about the same time as the alleged insider. In addition, the Court decided that the plaintiffs complaint must specify the reason or reasons why the statements made by THC in its press releases were misleading. • 5. Weaknesses Of Literature A bewildering number of research reports are published annually. The reports differ with regard to quality, comprehensibility, and relevance to practice (Mårtensson et.al, 2016). Furthermore, the studies may have multiple strengths and weaknesses depending on the research methodology they employ. Therefore, to establish a solid foundation for research on any subject and to prevent the replication of inaccurate information, it is essential that scholars critically evaluate the available scientific evidence (Mårtensson et al., 2016). The critical evaluation of philosophies or claims is crucial in the development of independent thinkers and informed decision makers. It is the only way of distinguishing among differing claims of truths and determining the credibility or trustworthiness of different viewpoints. Beetles Global Warming Essay Sophie Worrell November 25th 2015 The Effects of Global Warming: The Mountain Pine Beetle and Northwestern American Pine Forests Across Northwestern America the climate has protected pine forests from parasitic mountain pine beetles for millennia, but due to recent global climate warming these delicate ecosystems are experiencing an extreme shift. Normally the beetle population explodes every 25 years or so when there is a spell of warm winters and hot dry summers. In this natural cycle the beetles kill most of the older pines. The dead trees lose their needles over the next few years and open the canopy letting light in. This frees space and nutrients allowing new tree growth. The most significant of these, was the change to the overall economic system of the South. After Slavery and the cotton industry was shattered, the South was left with figuring out how to fix a once rich land founded on slavery. The first example of economic change in the South was in how African Americans began to support themselves economically. Plantations in the South were virtually workerless after African Americans were emancipated. Not only that, they were left economically in debt from the destruction caused by the Civil War. This left the Plantation owners at a loss of ability to function and since most African Americans didn t want to go back to work for plantation owners, the Black Codes were created. The ... Tenants rented this land and were also given supplies by their landlord such as seed, farming equipment and fertilizer. Of course, these supplies were also rented and often the only person the tenant was allowed to sell their crop to, was their landlord. The landlord decided what prices were available to the tenant and how much things cost. Often crops were unpredictable and landlords were very unfair with their prices. This would leave the tenants in debt that would carry over year after year. This, in a way, tied the tenants to the land so that they could never leave the landlord and left them in a constant state of crippling poverty. According to PBS.com, two thirds of all sharecroppers were white and only one third were black. If violence was to take place between two intimate women in a lesbian relationship, the violence would seem to be nothing more than a cat fight. It would not be surprising for the majority to ask what harm could really be done by two women. This stereotype combined with the belief that women are naturally weak and lack stature and strength to inflict any serious harm to each other calls for the dismissal of any serious violence between two intimate women (Walters, 2011). Currently, there is a consensus in statistics regarding the rate of lesbian intimate partner violence. According to Steven Ellis, The throwing elbow must be equal to or slightly above the throwing shoulder. You must stay over the top when you throw the curveball. Throwing it when it s under your shoulder then you put additional stress on your arm. Also if the arm is at an angle larger than 90 degrees then it also puts additional stress on your arm. In the course of globalization, there is a trend for legal systems in common law jurisdiction and civil law jurisdiction to learn and absorb the advantages from each other. In general, common law countries now have more codifications of statutes than before whereas civil law countries have become more active in promoting the use of precedents. As for the People Republic of China (hereafter China or the people republic ), it has gone through years of debates regarding whether it should adopt the Doctrine of Precedent, which refer to case law system in common law jurisdiction, as a civil law countries. According to Black s Law Dictionary (1990), a precedent is an adjudged case or decision of a court which is regarded as an example or authority for a subsequent case or a latter question of law on identical or similar issues. However, this has not clearly explained how the precedent regime used in common law jurisdiction is different from one that a state from statute law jurisdiction may use. As Goodhart points out, the real differences in the two systems are the binding effect of decided cases (Doctrine of Precedent). It would be too complex to explain the whole rule of binding precedent here and, for the sake of the latter discussion, we only need to know one aspect: while precedent cases create no legal obligation for a civil law judge to follow, a judge from common law countries is obligated to follow a precedent judgment and the legal reasoning in it made by a superior court or a court in the same level if a subsequence case contains identical facts and issues. Based on this difference, some observers claim that China does not have a formal binding precedent system and also denies the value of the established precedent regime in current China. Admittedly, there is no legal recognition granting to an establishment of case law system in China, but this does ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. A Brief Note On The Outbreak Of Ebola Rise Above Ebola Vanessa Aroonprapun Eric Cabus Darnell Ferrer Kristina Santos Somatey Tan American University of Health Sciences Rise Above Ebola The latest outbreak of Ebola is one of the largest epidemics in history. Starting in West Africa, it has spread to neighboring countries such as Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, causing numerous fatalities (Darrel, 2014). The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has identified five different strains of the Ebola virus Zaire, Sudan, Reston, Bundibugyo and Tai with Zaire and Sudan cited as being the most harmful strains with 68% and 53% average death rate respectively (Darell, 2014). The first strain of Ebola was discovered in 1976, in the Dominican Republic of Congo, and was contained until the recent mutations of different strains (Felscher, 2013). There is evidence that experimental drug, ZMapp, has helped treat Ebola infected individuals (Parshley,2014). Although ZMapp can be an expensive drug to produce, Ebola patients should be allowed to get access to this because it can help control their prognosis and mortality rate. Why is Ebola a Concern? Ebola is a global concern primarily because the disease is deadly, and scientists and researchers have very minimal information about the newer strains of Ebola. Due to the very little data, countries are less willing to send their top researchers to Ebola stricken countries to conduct researches (Hewlett, 2007). The 1939 MGM production of The Wizard of Oz, mainly directed by Victor Fleming, is a horrendous motion picture based on the best seller, classic novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, written by L. Frank Baum and illustrated by W. W. Denslow. But what makes MGM s production sheer filth and putrefaction? The Wizard of Oz is a horrible movie because of innumerable audio problems, terrible continuity editing skills, and copious cockamamie mistakes. Primarily, The Wizard of Oz focuses on Dorothy (Judy Garland), a young, beautiful girl from Kansas, who is taken, along with her dog Toto (Terry), to a dream land named Oz by a tornado. Suddenly, Glinda (Billie Burke), the Good Witch of the North, materializes and explains all that has happened to Dorothy. Dorothy obviously wishes to return home; however, the Wicked Witch of the West (Margaret Hamilton) makes a astonishing appearance. Dorothy receives security from the Wicked Witch of the West, from Glinda, in the form of ruby slippers. The Wicked Witch of the West leaves and Dorothy is pushed along the yellow brick road, by Glinda, to uncover the Wizard of Oz and get his help to return to Kansas. I only saw the mentioning of a shoulder pain as a result of the chest wall and sternal discomfort as the applicant was unable to raise his hands over his head at the time. There was no specific mentioning of the left shoulder. Second, I would like to question Dr. Minor about his impairment finding for the bilateral knees. More specifically, I would like to know where he saw a 1mm cartilage loss of both knees. I suspect he must have seen it on an imaging study (i.e., X ray or MRI) but it was not explicitly documented in the report (or I may have missed it). Third, I will question him about his finding of impairment as a result of a sleep disorder and cognitive impairment. More specifically, I would like to know if there are any objective findings to support these impairments. Fourth, I will question him about his impairment findings regarding binaural as well as the 3% pain add on for tinnitus. I believe the binaural impairment was given in connection with the applicant s left ear problem. Also, pain add on is inappropriate to increase an impairment on a body part with zero impairment. Disease and Native American Demise During the European Conquest of the New World The European conquest of the new world was most commonly attributed to the superiority of the Europeans in all the facets of their confrontation. It sounds nice when you are learning about Columbus in grade school, but the traditional story is pretty far from the truth. Most Americans have suffered, or will suffer, from chicken pox as a child. One becomes sick for a little while, recovers, and never suffers from the disease again. Now with the differences between epidemic and endemic clarified, I will move on to the origins of disease. The origin of disease is a relatively easy idea to understand. Human beings on the planet went through a transition from nomadic, hunter gatherers to the sedentary lifestyle by utilizing agriculture. This brought relatively small bands of people together into villages, which eventually became towns and cities. In Europe, the people not only used agriculture to feed their growing population, they also domesticated animals for a food source. As the population grew, the size of the herds of animals needed to feed the people grew as well. All animals carry disease and parasites, both in the wild and when they are domesticated. However, domesticated animals proved to be a breeding ground for disease. These domesticated animals were in close contact with the growing population of Europeans and it was not long before the disease was transferred to humans. The microbe, virus, or parasite only had to adapt to living in a human host. The process was relatively quick, and thus the epidemic disease was born in Europe. This was not true for ... One major way Connecticut got its shape was from glaciation. For example, glaciation formed Jobs Pond. Jobs Pond is a giant kettle hole, which is a depression caused by the impact of a massive chunk of ice, or a glacier. According to The Mystery Of Jobs Pond, geologists and hydrologists the water level rises and falls with the groundwater level in the area, because porous sand and gravel make up the bottom of the pond. A recessional moraine is a pile of rocks left behind when a glacier recedes, or moves back. As a glacier moves, it picks up rocks in a process called plucking. The Global Problem Of Global Trade Essay There is no doubt that the importance of global trade is one of the most integral aspects out of which human beings began their dominance of this planet. If history books tell us anything, it is that the some of the most important and powerful countries had their beginnings in early global trade. One of the most well known countries which took to the high seas in their venture to dominate global trade is Portugal. Their story has been told and re told time and time again, always positioning them as a leader during the Age of Discovery, a time in which finding the fastest overseas trade routes for items such as spices lead to other discoveries as well. While Portugal will always be able to reflect on past achievements and their footnote in the infancy of a global network, they still find themselves situated as a participating member of a less glorious and more ominous trade venture. Portugal s role in the global illegal trafficking of drugs and human beings is a controversial and hot button issue on a multitude of socio political levels. While their inclusion into this dark world is by no means voluntary, their participation in the illegal trafficking trade is a symptom of what could arguably be considered one of their leading characteristics which allowed them to dominant the Golden Era; geographic positionality. • 40. Mainstream Schooling Is Culturally Bound In this essay I will address the ways in which mainstream schooling is culturally bound, and why this is a problem for those who have disabilities. Mainstream schools can be determined as a school of traditional education or a normal school (Spielgaben, 2015). This categorises mainstream schools within New Zealand as schools of English medium that follow the New Zealand Curriculum and are state schools. These English medium schools work with the National Standards system which set specific expectations for students to have met in the key learning areas of reading, writing and mathematics (Ministry of Education, 2012). This system is just one of the ways in which mainstream schooling is culturally bound. The Oxford Dictionaries (2015) defines culturally bound as restricted in character or outlook by belonging or referring to a particular culture. Due to these schools following particular systems it makes it difficult to cater to the different groups that attend these schools. The second way in which mainstream schooling is culturally bound, that I will address, is that most often teachers in these schools do not have the time, resources or skills to teach the diversity of disabilities due to a stronger focus of teaching by the curriculum. This results in more efforts needing to be made to support those with disabilities. I will focus on the common disabilities and special needs in the context of students in mainstream schools, such hearing impairments, physical and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He had a holistic approach to work and shared the power of decision making as he promoted a sense of community (Greenleaf, 1990). Another leadership style Murthy exhibited was transformational leadership from the very beginning when he first had the vision to create the company and sold the vision to the other six people and convinced them to climb on board the bandwagon contributing to team proactivity (Wu Wang, 2015). In fact, Barnabas, Joseph, and Clifford (2010) state that servant leadership is a long transformational approach to work and life in the sense of having the potential to create positive changes in society (Spears, 2004). Murthy also fits in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Anne Moody and the Black Panthers Essay During the 1960s, many Black Americans drew attention to the inequalities among races in society. Protest groups formed and demonstrations highlighting discrimination towards dark people were a common practice for civil rights activists. Some activists believed non violence was the only way to overcome, and others, such as Anne Moody and the Black Panthers, had a more aggressive attitude towards gaining freedom. In her autobiography, The Coming of Age in Mississippi, Anne Moody describes the hardships of growing up in the heavily racist South, and displays the price you pay daily for being Black. (p.361) She grows tired of seeing her Black companions beaten, raped, murdered, and denied their opportunity to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In general, they felt that African Americans had been treated as second class citizens since the end of the Civil War solely because they were Black. The Panthers developed a platform called the Ten Point Program that described the changes they demanded to see in American society. They wanted a country in which Black children are provided the same educational opportunities as White children, and thought that Blacks could only progress by being taught the true history of Black oppression in the U.S. They demanded that Black Americans have jobs that paid the same wages as Whites and weren t limited to labor intensive positions. The party also felt that the police force instigated more conflict and violence than protection, and believed they needed to provide security for Blacks by themselves. Although they were known for using gun power when necessary, the Panthers envisioned a peaceful society under a just government where all races could live together. Simply put, the Black Panthers felt the United States government was not allowing Black Americans to the live in the land of equal opportunity, but rather denying them the freedoms and liberties constitutionally entitled to them. The Black Panthers wanted African Americans to be able to determine their destiny. Because the Black Panthers felt society and government were withholding African Americans from social progress, they took some matters into their own hands. They promoted more just ... • 46. Analysis Of The Kansas City Preventive Patrol Experiment The Kansas City Preventative Patrol Experiment was conducted in October 1972 by the Kansas City Police to test the effects of marked police patrol units on the incidence of crime to deter crime and ended in 1973. The experiment lasted over a year and was evaluated by the Police Foundation, established by the Ford Foundation, which also provided funding and technical assistance for the education of police. The Kansas City Preventative Patrol Experiment in policing ranked among the few major social experiments ever to be completed and still used today in American policing. (Kelling, G. L., Pate, T., Dieckman, D., Brown, C. E., 1974) The design of the Kanas City Preventative Patrol Experiment was to test the assumption that marked police units patrolling the streets can prevent individuals from committing crimes. Areas of the city were assigned either no routine patrols the proper level of patrols and substantially increased patrols. The concept of preventive patrol postulated the self evident truth that the mere presence of the police or reasonable potential for their presence would deter criminals from committing offenses in the immediate geographic area of the patrol (Deployment by analysis, 2000). The beginning of the experiment assigned officers to patrol areas called beats. Each officer patrols his or her beat until assigned a call by the police dispatcher (Cornder, 2016, p. 386). The patrol experiment varied 15 beats, but the routine preventative patrol was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Theories Of Personality Theory Theories of Personality Dispositional and Evolutionary or Biological Personality Your Name Institution Theories of Personality Dispositional and Evolutionary or Biological Personality Scientists believe that personality is often a huge factor that determines the choices that we make in daily lives. Personality is not unique to humans, animals also have distinct personalities; any pet owner will agree. The question that we are first inclined to ask is what is personality? Why do we need it? The answer to the first question is fairly simple; according to Feist Rosenberg (2009), personality is a pattern of relatively permanent traits and unique characteristics that give both consistency and individuality to a person s behaviour . There are two approaches as far as personality theories are concerned, viz. dispositional theory and biological or trait based theories. These theories are constitute of many other smaller theories. The primary theorists discussed in the following sections are Eysenck, Alloport, Tupes, Goldberg and Christal. Dispositional Personality theory Dispositional personality theory is a combination of theories with a central theme; all of them attribute personality to innate attributes of an individual. According to the dispositional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... in his book Dimensions of Personality Eysenck (1947) proposed a three factor personality model. Other proponents of the trait based model of personality was Allport, (1961) who divided personality into cardinal traits, central traits and secondary traits. According to Allport, the cardinal traits are most important as an individual s main life choices are determined by these traits. The Central traits determine the rules for daily interactions and most people have five to ten central traits. Finally, the secondary traits are occasional attributes that are displayed only under special ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
