Water Is Convenient Environment For Microorganisms Growth
Water is convenient environment for microorganisms growth, some are pathogenic and other non
pathogenic.
Bioindicators are living organisms such as plants, planktons, animals, and microbes, which are
utilized, to screen the health of the natural ecosystem in the environment (Trishala K. Parmar, Deepak
Rawtani and Y. K. Agrawal, 2016). Bio indicator organisms are algae, fungi, bacteria, larval

Current research on water pathogens is focused on some pathogenic bacteria (bacterial pathogens).
Waterborne pathogens and related diseases are a major public health concern worldwide, not only by

Reducing High School Dropout Rates
Steinberg (2016) states, Adolescents who leave high school before graduating are more likely to come
from lower socioeconomic levels, poor communities, large families, single parent families, permissive
or disengaged families, and household where little reading material is available. In short, adolescents
who drop out of school are more likely to come from backgrounds with limited family capital, which
has three components: economic capital, social capital, and cultural capital (p. 341). Three actions that
should be taken to reduce the dropout rate is have families be encouraging and engaged, provide social
and cultural capital, and intervene in early childhood.
The first action that should be taken to reduce the dropout rate is to have families be encouraging,
engaged, and lenient. An adolescents achievement is linked to their parents standards and expectations
of their child. Parental encouragement is displayed in numerous ways. First, when parents encourage
achievement and set high standards for their child, in regards to school performance, it strengthens
school success because they then ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The quality of the home environment is a decent predictor of academic achievement and is measured
by the existence of things such as books, televisions, newspapers, and much more. It is imperative for
parents to provide cultural capital, which is showing adolescents art, literature, music, etc.
Additionally, it is important for communities to provide social capital. Social capital is the
reassurance, participation, and support of adults that is essential to enable the success of adolescents.
To simply put it, it is when families have connections with other families in their community.
Furthermore, students who have teachers, friends, and guides as sources of social support and
guidance have more of a chance succeeding in

Comparing The Seafarer And The Wanderer
Looking at these two poems considered to be sister poems I have found distinct similarities and
differences. In The Seafarer, an old man is reflecting upon his life as a sailor. He described his
personal burdens of being on sea but he does find beauty in it. But as in The Wanderer, a warrior is
upon the ocean searching for comfort as he mourns the loss of his loved ones and society. It is well
understood that they have the feeling of loneliness in common as well as the importance in sharing a
connection with God. But there are differences as well, such as The Wanderer is repining and The
Seafarer is looking back on the times he now sees as desirable. Yet as reading these poems, I have
found more similarities than differences.
First, a similar connection these two poems share is the theme of loneliness. In The Seafarer it said,
No kinsman could offer comfort there, to a soul left drowning in desolation (Seafarer, 25 25). By his
description of drowning in desolation, it could be interpreted as suffocating with devastation, no one
can soothe his lonely soul. Corresponding to The Wanderer, My heart has closed on itself, quietly

drifting through winter on an ice cold sea, whirled in sorrow, alone in a world blown clear of love,

despite his misery. In The Wanderer the narrator is blackened, talking about how he is in need of
benefaction, Grey with mourning. Once there were men to whom my heart could hurry, not with open
longing. They re long since dead (Wanderer 9 11). The Wanderer witnessed destruction through his
life and is in deep sorrow thinking about it whereas The Seafarer is pondering about his hardlines but

1. What factors have led to higher prices in Europe than in the United States for Hilfiger merchandise?
What problems might Hilfiger encounter by having higher prices in Europe than in the United States?
The European and American market definitely has a major clash, for it was stated in the case that their
demands are opposite from each other. Well, the European market seems to be more demanding in
terms of product selection, variety, material and collection. As mentioned, there have been special
adjustments made for the European market such as using wool, having jeans made into slimmer shape,
and tapping on a more luxurious image the use of leather and cashmere for some of its product lines.
Thus, this created a higher price variant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Lacoste has expanded its distribution channels globally and have ventured into different product lines

Antigua she knows in comparison to the Antigua *we* see. Kincaid starts off the memoir, non fiction,
or even satirical piece by describing what you see, where you is white, middle class tourist from

island with amazing beaches and great food. Of course the tourist sees charm in the unpaved roads or

College Readiness Theory Essay
The facets of college readiness theory also insists that taking action, as a student, through developing
American style learning skills and study methods, will assist Chinese international students in taking
control of their academic success. Such significant educational skills include practicing excellent time
management, taking notes effectively, taking information to memory, possessing sufficiently well
developed reading skills, and the ability to conduct teamwork should all be part of preemptive
academic training that can keep Chinese international students focused and on task. Conley (2015)
wrote that all of the aforementioned skills are dependent upon Chinese international students having

King Arthur Informative Speech
1. Are you at all familiar with the King Arthur legend? List any examples, whether from movies,

and watching fantasy books and movies, I did come across the legends of King Arthur and his knights

Sword in the Stone. Since I saw this movie when I was younger and the only movies I wanted to

For starters, part one does not mention anything about King Arthur. In most of the King Arthur

Merlin s only purpose was to help Arthur become king and help him complete the prophecy that he
foretold. Unlike most of the legends I have heard, Merlin was a mystery in those legends. Nobody
knew his backstory, or where he came from. In part one, the book explains Merlin s early life. (This
was something I truly liked about the book because this was the first time I ever heard of Merlin s life
before he met Arthur.) Although King Arthur did not appear in part one of the book, I am curious to
see if he will be a part of the story later on. Although my impressions of the King Arthur legends have
not been consistent with Mary Stewart s book The Crystal Cave so far, I look forward to reading and

How Does The Government Affect The Airline Industry
One of the world s most competitive and prominent industries is the airlines industry. It generates
huge amounts of income as well as employment each year. Some of the common names in US air
travel service providers are Alaska, Northwest, Southwest, US airways, American etc.
According to the latest statistics given by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the
airline sector will post a profit of $9 billion in 2011. After the recent credit crunch, economies are now
coming back to normal, business travel is increasing and investments in the airlines are now rising.

Government policies
Fiscal policies of the government can have significant impact on the industry s performance.
Governments generally impose high taxes on airline industry, which is passed on to the customers in
the form of higher air fares, alternatively airlines reduce the number of staff is cut down costs. An
example is United Kingdom, when the UK government imposed high taxes on the aviation industry,
the number of cargo operators reduced sharply in order to reduce costs (My Efficient Planet, 2010).
On the other hand governments support aviation industry by building airports, roads and hotels near
airports, because they recognize this industry as an important ingredient for economic well being. In
addition governments arrange security at the airports to ensure safe journey. The terrorist attacks of
September 11, 2001 have had negative implications for the industry. Over the years, all the airlines
have changed their routes, marketing tactics and prices; they are also making an effort to reduce the
fear and negative image associated with air planes. Governments have imposed strict security checks
on air travel passengers in order to avoid any unforeseen terrorist activity.
Economic forces
GDP
The growth of airline industry in any country is directly proportional to its GDP growth; the greater
the business activity, the more air travel and the higher the GDP of the country. The demand

Examples Of Realism In Red Kayak
Do you know what makes a story realistic fiction? Red Kayak is a book about a kid that witnesses a
kayak accident... but was it an accident? Realistic fiction is a story that has events, people, or dialogue
that could be real. Red Kayak has many examples of realistic fiction like credible events and authentic
characters. One reason Red Kayak is a good example or realistic fiction is because it has realistic
settings. Realistic settings is a part of realistic fiction. On page 5 it says, It s a pretty river, the Corsica.
This is an example of realistic settings because the Corsica is a real river. When Brady talks about the

the time I spent in combat was in a tank. Not too much action there. A typical day in my grandfathers
life at the time was to wake up at the crack of dawn and get ready for a full day of combat, well at

I asked him if he thought about the war very often now and he said; so so. Not alot. Glad its over.
When I asked him if he lost any friends or people he served with in the war he said that he lost some
friends in combat but he didn t talk much about that. He carried his sacred heart metal with him
everywhere he went. He would pray for the war to end at night before he fell asleep. The friends he
made in war are either dead or he no longer keeps in touch with them at all. There wasn t much said

The war did not change him. My grandfather was received with lots of love. He was going to go to

Torres Strait Islanders Identity
For most of their (over) 45,000 years history, Torres Strait Islanders have established their own unique
identity as a group and within their respective collectives, partially due to limited contact between the
Torres Strait Islands and Europeans, until Britain s colonisation in 1788; Therefore, the last two
centuries as a result of colonisation have undoubtedly effectuated the alienation of the Torres Strait
Islanders, and ergo had pernicious influences on their identity. As argued by Mua Makereta business
exploitations in the 1860s by pearl shells particularly changed the Torres Strait Islands as the
Queensland Government formally annexed the islands , and made a centre for the marine industry on
Thursday Island as the Europeans viewed the islanders as a lesser breed who had no right in deciding
what would happen to the Islands. Usually contact between the Europeans and the Islanders was often
transient and socially distanced, but the arrival of the London Missionary Society in 1871 on the
Islands resulted in their attempt to impose Christian discipline on the Islanders, therefore manipulating
their identity. Although they typically didn t allow music, when they did the teachers from the London
Missionary Society were especially suspicious of the islanders traditional dances and songs, but
tolerated South Sea dance. Cambridge scientist W.H.R. Rivers who at the time observed that the

Toyota Motor Corporation s Production System
Abstract Toyota Motor Corporation is a Japanese multinational corporation that also manufactures
Lexus and Scion. Well known for being an industry leader in manufacturing, Toyota has been
aggressively cutting costs over the years. They managed to cut procurement costs of door handles by
40 percent. Then, by using the just in time (JIT) inventory system they were able to bring models into
production in only 12 months after the final design, compared to the average of 24 36 months in the
industry. Toyota continues to cut company costs by making car parts cheaper and lighter. However,
these cost saving parts diminished the quality of the cars. Vehicles started having reports of
acceleration and brake problems. Toyota announced of more than 11 million recalls on vehicles for
problems. After all the recalls, the company had to pay $48.8 million in fines. Toyota got carried away
in cutting costs and time into making the cars that they lost much more money than they saved. Case

The Leap By Louise Erdrich, And The Trip By Laila Lalami
Have you ever thought that three completely different stories might have something in common? It
might seem unlikely, but now you can change what you previously thought! The short stories Contents
of a Dead Man s Pockets by Jack Finney, The Leap by Louise Erdrich, and The Trip by Laila Lalami,
all have their similarities and differences on several aspects. This can be demonstrated through the
topics of setting, conflict, characters, and theme. These topics help make up the plot of each story. No
story is the same, but they can have similar messages or themes meant for the audience. Some can
argue that these three short stories are completely different, but other individuals differ. These main
elements from each story can be both, depending on one s point of view.
The setting is a good example of both similarities and differences. For instance, the setting helped

Seasonism Religion
When it comes to Seasonism, all six dimensions of religion are present. Seasonism is a polytheistic
religion practiced on Winoc, a small fictional island. In Seasonism, there are four gods which
represent each season; there is the god of winter, spring, summer, and fall. For the people of Winoc to
prosper and live fruitful lives, they must perform rituals, offerings, and prayers that align with the
current season. If they do not please the gods, there will be dire consequences.
Within Seasonism there exists a mythological dimension unlike any other. There are numerous myths
and stories present in Seasonism that explain the creation of the world, the existence of humankind,
and the meaning of life. Naturally, the fundamental myth that Seasonism ... Show more content on

For this reason, the ritual dimension is central to Seasonism. Out of the copious amounts of rituals
found in Seasonism, there are a few that ensure the overall well being of the community. Not only are
fertility dances mandatory in Spring, but they also symbolize vitality in newborns. Women can rest
assured they will have a healthy pregnancy and will not experience any complications while giving
birth. Everyone who resides in Winoc knows that children are the future of their society.
Consequently, rituals surrounding fertility like the fertility dance are taken seriously. Rain dances
involve people screeching, dancing, and reciting Seasonism doctrine, in the hope of being able to
receive enough rainfall to drink water, grow crops, clean their homes, and do work. While the
attendance of rituals demonstrates faith, sacrifices show true devotion. From the head tribal leader to
the laity, everyone is required to sacrifice something they hold dear. It may be anything from a favorite
type of food to a hobby. In Seasonism, a rite of passage involves a ceremony where members of the
community congregate and declare a young person as an adult. During this ceremony, a sacrifice to
the respective season god is made by the person coming of age. Once an individual has gone through
this rite of passage, it is their mission in life to serve the season gods. Any leniencies that adolescent
person had are gone, and they are treated as any other adult citizen. Finally, a trinity of rituals are to be
performed every Summer. This trinity includes the previously mentioned beach slumber for 3 nights,
the consumption of fish for 3 days, and the 3 days of leisure. Clearly, Seasonism contains a few

Factors That Led To The Federation Of 1901
In 1901, the six British colonies of New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia,
and Tasmania federated to become the Commonwealth of Australia. Several factors including defence
and immigration, railways and nationalism contributed to the federation of 1901 when Australia was
officially declared an independent nation separate from Britain with an independent government.
One of the main contributing factors that led to the federation of 1901 included trade and railways
throughout the colonies. In the 1800s, most colonies had constructed railway networks within cities.
Some colonies, such as Victoria, had founded railway links, including a link between Melbourne and
the port of Williamstown, located south of Melbourne itself. The construction of this rail link triggered
other colonies to construct similar railway links, including a rail link between Sydney and Parramatta.
A major railway that was constructed included a line from Melbourne to the town of Wodonga,
located on the border of Victoria, and a line from Sydney to the town of Albury, on the New South
Wales border. This was a major milestone in linking the colonies of New South Wales and ... Show

federation, the colonies managed their own national defence and were responsible for their own
security. As the colonies were officially members of the British Empire, up until the late 1800s
received military support from Britain. Wars in the Pacific and Africa particularly the Maori wars in
New Zealand, saw the involvement of the colonies, alongside the British Empire. These wars spiked
fear of possible attacks from foreign nations, which was one of the main factors that contributed to the

The bombs were dropped in 1945 during WW2 because the Japanese refused to
surrender(History.com). The Allies (or U.S., Britain, France, USSR, Australia, Belgium, Brazil,
Canada, China, Denmark, Greece, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, South Africa,
Yugoslavia) started winning the war which made Germany surrender but japan would not surrender
the U.S. would have to use drastic measures to ensure victory. Because WW2 had a lasting affects on
our nation citizens should learn about before the bombings, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and how it is like
today. In 1939 Nazi Germany started a project on making nuclear weapons. America came soon after

Texas Anti Marijuana Laws Should Be Banned
Texas has had a long history of being a state that marijuana is smuggled into across the border with
Mexico. The anti marijuana laws in Texas are some of the strictest in the United States with high fines
and long prison sentences. Currently under Texas laws the possession of 2oz or less can result in 180
days in jail and or a fine up to $2000 dollars, as well as your license being suspended for 12 months.
So why does Texas take a such a harsh stance against marijuana? Why does Texas keep throwing
money on fighting a war on marijuana? How many more of our fellow Texans are going to have their
lives ruined over using a plant that grows out of the ground. Through research I will show and explain
how the current aggressive laws and policy against marijuana in Texas effects not only the users, but
every Texan. The beginning of Texas anti marijuana laws can be traced back to the city of El Paso
(Drug Policy ORG). Prior to 1914 Texas had no laws concerning the usage or sale of the plant, but
then the stories of people using marijuana in Mexico and terrorizing people made their way to El Paso
and the Deputy Sheriff Stanley Good. Deputy Good made it a personal mission of his to get El Paso to
make the substance illegal. The whole basis of his argument is that immigrants from Mexico will
come to the Untied States and use the drug and terrorize El Paso. At the time marijuana use was
prevalent in the border towns by both Americans and Mexicans but nobody gave it any

Kansas Wesleyan University Case Study
Kansas Wesleyan University has many great resources available to the students that benefit them in
many ways, from learning how to finance your tuition to getting a parking pass for your car. As a
student, I have an academic advisor to help me with more than just my scheduling. I have access to the
Financial Planning Office and the Student Development Office. I also get a variety of education
assistance at the Student Success Center.
Originally, an academic advisor is thought to be a professor who schedules your classes and makes
sure you re on the right course to receive your degree. After speaking with my advisor, I learned that
they are much more than that. They are to help you with any questions you have regarding the college,

Since I am majoring in Chemistry Education, I will be able to be a science teacher for middle school
and high school. I was informed I will need to apply to be in the education program and it would be
beneficial to do some job shadowing for this career. During my spring semester of my senior year, I
will do student teaching and should be looking at schools I might want to do that at. I also learned that
since I will be receiving a teaching license for the state of Kansas, when I go back to Nebraska to
teach, I will receive a temporary license to teach the following year after I graduate and may need to
take specific classes while I teach to make me certified in Nebraska.
Besides having an advisor to go to, this campus offers many other people and offices that can help you

Bad News Bears Movie Analysis Essay
MicKayla Lizama Intro to Psychology Bad News Bears (2005) Movie Analysis Explanation of
Concept: Defense mechanisms are ways to reduce anxiety or help someone cope. One of these defense
mechanisms is rationalization. Rationalization is when a person tries to explain an action that has
happened in a more positive way. Rationalization is a way to make an action more acceptable, even if
this rationalized explanation is illogical. Application of concept: An example of rationalizing in the
movie Bad News Bears (2005, Linklater) would be in the scene where Mike Engelberg breaks Morris

Sedgwick s Homosocial Continuum Of William Shakespeare s...
Sedgwick s Homosocial Continuum in William Shakespeare s Othello Where does it end? Where did
it begin? On a continuum, it is impossible to distinguish. Eve Sedgwick coined the idea of the
Homosocial continuum. Her argument involves gender, class, and hierarchical relationships. In
William Shakespeare s, Othello, many character pairings can be analyzed in relation to Sedgwick s
theories. The relationships that most interestingly relate to the homosocial continuum are Desdemona
and Emilia, Iago and Roderigo, and Iago and Othello. First, Desdemona and Emilia have a homosocial
relationship that is easier to understand by today s standards based on Sedgwick s assertions.
Sedgwick states, The apparent simplicity...of the continuum, [for women], would not be so striking if
it were not in strong contrast to the arrangement among males (506). Emilia and Desdemona s
relationship, while certainly blurring the lines at points, would not be questioned even today based on
Sedgwick s claim that women are so much more free to move along the homosocial continuum. It is
typical for women to care for one another and desire one another s company, including physical touch
and intimate dialogue. At Desdemona s death bed, Emilia arrives to discover the situation and cries
out,
Emilia. Out, and alas! that was my lady s voice. Help, help, ho! help. O lady, speak again! Sweet

Pros And Cons Of Prison Reforms
The article I chose was Inmates launch massive nationwide strike to protest modern slavery in US

years after the Attica prison riot, many of the reforms demanded still exist today, and by inmates in
about 40 prisons bonding together they wish to make a change. Within the article, the arguments
presented as to why inmates are taking such measures is that besides the evident reason to end
injustice, there now seems to be a larger possibility for reform. I choose this article because even if I

argument had strong and credible evidence to support it, but with more information provided it would
have helped to inform a reader with no previous knowledge about the history of the issue. As for the
second argument, this one would have been much stronger with the incorporation of hard data, such as
the details of living conditions, and also if more than one side of the problem had been presented.
However, I did find the article very enlightening due to the strength of being able to inform on the
ongoing fight that little is heard about through specific examples. Moreover, I enjoyed reading it
because if there is an issue of injustice, I believe something should be done, even if it does not pertain

Punishment Of A Crime And Criminal Justice System
The history of punishment in America has had multiple changes in order for the rules and regulations
to adapt to societies changing ways. The most common punishment is jail time or imprisonment,
however in this date and age time punishment is not the only option to punish a criminal of the
society, probation, parole, house arrest and even being put in solitary confinement, or worse the death
penalty are options. With this in mind we must as a society and criminal justice system be able to
apply fair living standards and punishment by recognizing what punishment is best suited for an
inmate and to also be able to come back into society fully understanding the moral codes and
regulations placed to be a successful member of society.
In American we seem to allow worse punishment to develop through time in order to put more fear
into the culture to act accordingly or get punished. When sanctions are placed they show how that
society runs and its moral understanding of those who break the law. Sanctions were created for
punishment of a crime however they serve as a small place of protection against civilians. However, in
America we seem to not have a constant remedy that can help assist those who are criminals, harsher
punishment may not be the answer however, in a culture where anything can happen, we must know,
implement and be able to understand how different sanctions work in order to reduce crime. Also how
we can further develop other sanctions that may help our society

Since one of the largest positions in my investment portfolio is Bank of America, traded on the
NASDAQ under the symbol (BAC), I decided to take and in depth look at this company and hopefully
see for myself why this stock and other financials have performed so well over the past few months. I
also hope to educate myself more about BAC and financials in general, so that I can have a more
detailed and meaningful conversation with my portfolio manager about why he chose BAC as my
largest financial position.
Abstract
By definition, banks are: A financial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It went on to mention that BAC had been struggling with regulatory changes from the previous
administration, but that talk of deregulation by the new Trump administration could help improve
BAC s position moving forward. (The Wall Street Journal, 2017, n.d.).
Now, according to the latest data from Investopedia, BAC s Price to earnings ratio, (P/E) is 17.56,
which is a high, and I like to keep P/E ratios for companies that I invest in at lower than 14, but since a
lot of this growth has occurred since my initial investment, I am ok with its high P/E ratio, although
BAC may be a stock that needs to be considered for profit taking by any investor who bought this
stock prior to last year. Another consideration for a potential BAC investor is the fact that BAC pays a
dividend. Before an investor should consider buying or selling a stock, it should always contemplate
how dividends should be incorporated in that decision. BAC current pays a 1.44% annual dividend.
(Investopedia, 2016, n.d.). While 1.44% may not seem like a lot, it is attractive to me as an investor
because that extra percentage can cover a large portion of the fees involved with trading stocks. I think
people tend to overlook these important details when considering an investment.
In general BAC and financials have had a really good run and many may seem expensive compared to
other investments,

The Opinion Of Charter Schools
As I began working on this essay, my first step was to google charter school news articles. One of the
first two articles that I came across was from a well known conservative news source. The other was
published in a prominent outlet for liberal news. I was amazed at the polar opposite views that the two
sources had on the subject and decided to see if this dichotomy continued in other news outlets as
well. I then looked up a ranking of various news sources as liberal or conservative. I visited websites
with varying political views and read articles that they had composed about charter schools and their
effects. Throughout my process of examining the media s opinion of charter schools I came across a
clear divide. The liberal media is wholeheartedly opposed to charter schools whereas the conservative
media views them as the only saving grace for our failing school system. These opinions on charter
schools are very closely tied to the overall world view of our two major political parties. Both sides
agree that our school system is struggling and needs to be improved in some way. However, they
differ in how this should be done. The only thing that the two sides seem to truly agree on is the
framing of children as very vulnerable and susceptible to damage done to them by a failing school
system. One of the main conservative political platforms is that free markets are the best answer to
any problem. Schooling is no exception. An education system with

Romeo And Juliet Act 2 Scene 2
William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet has been adapted into several films, but the film that
properly demonstrates the mood of Act 2, scene 2 is Baz Luhrmann s 1996 version. One of the
elements used by the director to convey the mood is setting. In scene 2, Romeo and Juliet are not on
balcony like in the original play, but instead in a courtyard. Later on, the couple falls into the pool
where most of the scene occurs. Although they have some intimate moments, Romeo and Juliet are
seen splashing water on each other and laughing. As a result, this evokes a playful mood because they
are having fun together. Another choice the director made is language. Despite including quotes

Taking a Look at Antenna Technology
The field of antennas is vigorous and dynamic, and over the last 60 years antenna technology has been
an indispensable partner of the communication revolution. Antenna has been considered an important
component in the development of modern wireless communication devices. In addition to receiving
and transmitting energy, an antenna in an advanced wireless system is usually required to optimize the
radiation energy in some directions and suppress in others. For wireless communication systems the
antenna is one of the most critical components. A good design of the antenna can relax system
requirements and improve overall system performance.
The planar antenna configurations such as microstrip and patch antennas have been found suitable for
such systems. These antenna configurations are of low profile, lightweight, simple and inexpensive to
fabricate. The main design goal of antenna design for modern communication systems is to achieve
the better performance for desired frequency bands. But the main disadvantage of using microstrip
antenna for recent day s wireless communication is to achieve multi frequency operation with single
antenna, maintaining the performance the antenna for all desired frequency.
One solution for multi frequency operation is to design different antennas for each frequency, results
in bulky structure and the mutual coupling between different feed elements will become a problem.
Stack structure is the solution to achieve multiple band operation with

The Grapes Of Wrath By John Steinbeck And The Grapes Of Wrath
The novels The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck and Under the Feet of Jesus by Helena Maria
Viramontes both explore the plight of migrant farmers in California. Steinbeck tells the story of white
migrant workers during the Great Depression and Viramontes tells the story of Mexican migrant
workers. The novels deconstruct the perceived California dream in which great wealth can be
achieved through hard work by recounting the plights of migrant workers who recognize the illusion
and take action against it. Steinbeck s novel portrays the plight of the Joad family, natives of
Oklahoma. The Joads, a family of dispossessed farmers, travel to California searching for work after
the forces of large scale banking capitalism remove them from their land. They chase the promise of a
new beginning and the opportunity to find wealth because of the California dream. Steinbeck narrates
the journey of an underclass family achieving the Marxist construction of class consciousness. Class
conflict between wage slaves and the owners of the means of production, social alienation through the
separation of labor and profit, and dehumanization of workers through the mass commodification of
labor all appear in the novel. Class consciousness defines the novel and is the method by which the
Joad family is able to rise against the bourgeois and capitalism. The Joads are a member of the
proletariat and must work as laborers who are, according to Karl Marx, A class of labourers, who live

Examples Of Naturalism In Ethan Frome
Naturalism is a complex literary movement which infiltrated many books in the 1800s. One book in
particular best shows the themes of Naturalism. The book, Ethan Frome, displays a multitude of
motifs which further the main ideas and themes of the story. Motifs are used to highlight the theme.
Due to the complex nature of the book, Ethan Frome written by Edith Wharton, motifs are used to
further the ideas and themes presented in this tale.
The first motif of the story is Gravestones. Gravestones symbolize the literal and metaphorical silence
in the story. Gravestones represent the literal silence as for years that quiet company had mocked his
restlessness, and that his desire for change and freedom...But now all desire for change had vanished,

Red means many ideas. For example that to Ethan, still in the rosy haze of his hour with Mattie, the
sight came with the intense precision of the last dream before waking (Wharton 22). Red seems to
represent the romantic feelings Ethan has for Mattie. Red symbolizes the interest he has in her. Red
also is meant to represent lust as that she wore her usual dress of darkish stuff, and there was no bow
at her neck; but through her hair she had run a streak of crimson ribbon. This trubute to the unusual
transformed and glorified her. She seemed to Ethan taller, fuller, more womanly in shape and motion (
Wharton 82). Ethan s feelings are that of a person in love. This motif furthers the theme of lack of
control, as Ethan has no control over the fact that he has these emotions. He is helpless to the power of
his emotions over him .
Lastly, for the third motif: Silence. Silence is this presiding force which causes significant tension and
pain in this story. Ethan feels relief after the mortal silence of his long imprisonment changed to
having Zeena s volubility was music to his ears . (Wharton 29). The silence is what caused Ethan to
think marrying a woman he does not love would be a good idea. Obviously, this was a horrible
decision he made due to the overarching nature of this

The Culture Of The Italian Culture
The Description The cultural group I decided to gain more insight on through this experience was the
Italian culture. Explain history and describe! The immersion experiences in which I participated were
great opportunities to learn about the culture in more depth. The first experience I was able to attend
was on June 13, 2015. In downtown Indianapolis Indiana, I had the opportunity to attend the Italian
Culture Festival. Organized each year by the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, this festival was full of
music, cultural food, and I was lucky enough to experience a traditional Italian religious procession
and Mass (Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 2015). The festival was packed with people from the city
and from the Italian culture. I had never experienced a festival such as the one held in Indianapolis.
Being from the east coast and not of the Italian culture, the festival was a refreshing yet,
uncomfortable experience at times. I observed a traditional dance, the tarantella and those around the
area all seemed to know most of the steps or the words to some of the songs in the set they played.
The locals tried to get me to dance along but, I could not keep up with them on the fly. The tarantella
is one of the most famous of Italian dances and performers dance quickly to an upbeat song (Holy
Rosary Catholic Church, 2015). It is said that the performers sweat out the poison of a deadly tarantula
and the dance could last for hours and could be religious in nature to some.

Benefits And Negatives Of Fruitarianism And Fruittarianism...
Preparing to play Mr. Jobs back in 2013, actor Ashton Kutcher got really into the movie role and even
followed a fruitarian diet himself...Kutcher ended up in the hospital just two days before he was
supposed to begin shooting the movie ( ). An all fruit diet or fruitarianism can be a struggle to
maintain because it is a diet that only consists of natural organic fruit and nothing else. This diet has
been around for a long time, since the first two humans that walked the earth Adam and Eve in the
Garden of Eden were considered fruitarians. Ashton Kutcher is not the only celebrity who has
followed an extreme diet. Demi Moore and Woody Harrelson have experimented with the a diet called
raw food diet better known as raw foodism. Raw foodism is a diet that consist of eating unprocessed

because it consists of giving up multiple foods or preparing food differently. Fruitarianism and Raw
foodism are extreme lifestyles that have many health risks, but there are benefits and negatives to both
these diets. Fruitarianism is a devoted diet that requires motivation of giving up everything that is not
fruit. The Fruitarian Foundation determines on who is classified as a fruitarian, Fruitarian is someone
who has a diet composed of more than 50% fruit. There are actually a set of rules that their diet
requires which what fruits they can eat. Fruitarians can choose from seven basic fruit groups: Acid

Bad Girl Film Analysis
The American Cinema of the 1950s can be noted for its various portrayals of masculinity and
dominating consumer culture geared toward male gender. Arguably hidden behind punks and
gangsters was a class of defiant girls who subverted the gender ideals of the time and are evidenced
through a series of Bad Girl films. The bad girl film cycle is one of the latter trends of the 50s Social
Problem film and an examination of this cycle will provide theoretical speculation regarding its
influence on the rise of the Second Wave Feminist Movement.
In order to examine the potential influence of these films and the topicality of bad girl representation
during the 1950s scare of juvenile delinquency, the following lines of inquiry will be explored:
1. An examination of the evolution of female representation in various film genres of the 1950s
highlighting the commonly subservient role of female characters and the gender roles perpetuated
through texts of this decade.
2. Next, I will reiterate the Social Problem film and the scare of juvenile delinquency during the
1950s. I will introduce the bad girl film genre in more detail, expanding the tropes/motifs of this cycle,
and demonstrates how this genre can be subcategorized as a social problem film.
3. In order to understand the contention surrounding the bad girl films and its context in 1950s society,
I will discuss the American Dream ideology of the time, primarily through its portrayal on television.

  • 4. Comparing The Seafarer And The Wanderer Looking at these two poems considered to be sister poems I have found distinct similarities and differences. In The Seafarer, an old man is reflecting upon his life as a sailor. He described his personal burdens of being on sea but he does find beauty in it. But as in The Wanderer, a warrior is upon the ocean searching for comfort as he mourns the loss of his loved ones and society. It is well understood that they have the feeling of loneliness in common as well as the importance in sharing a connection with God. But there are differences as well, such as The Wanderer is repining and The Seafarer is looking back on the times he now sees as desirable. Yet as reading these poems, I have found more similarities than differences. First, a similar connection these two poems share is the theme of loneliness. In The Seafarer it said, No kinsman could offer comfort there, to a soul left drowning in desolation (Seafarer, 25 25). By his description of drowning in desolation, it could be interpreted as suffocating with devastation, no one can soothe his lonely soul. How wretched I was, drifting through winter on an ice cold sea, whirled in sorrow, alone in a world blown clear of love, hung with icicles (Seafarer 14 18), The Seafarer is reflecting on his life wanting to return to the sea despite his misery. In The Wanderer the narrator is blackened, talking about how he is in need of benefaction, Grey with mourning. Once there were men to whom my heart could hurry, not with open longing. They re long since dead (Wanderer 9 11). • 25. Sedgwick s Homosocial Continuum Of William Shakespeare s... Sedgwick s Homosocial Continuum in William Shakespeare s Othello Where does it end? Where did it begin? On a continuum, it is impossible to distinguish. Eve Sedgwick coined the idea of the Homosocial continuum. Her argument involves gender, class, and hierarchical relationships. In William Shakespeare s, Othello, many character pairings can be analyzed in relation to Sedgwick s theories. The relationships that most interestingly relate to the homosocial continuum are Desdemona and Emilia, Iago and Roderigo, and Iago and Othello. First, Desdemona and Emilia have a homosocial relationship that is easier to understand by today s standards based on Sedgwick s assertions. Sedgwick states, The apparent simplicity...of the continuum, [for women], would not be so striking if it were not in strong contrast to the arrangement among males (506). Emilia and Desdemona s relationship, while certainly blurring the lines at points, would not be questioned even today based on Sedgwick s claim that women are so much more free to move along the homosocial continuum. It is typical for women to care for one another and desire one another s company, including physical touch and intimate dialogue. At Desdemona s death bed, Emilia arrives to discover the situation and cries out, Emilia. Out, and alas! that was my lady s voice. Help, help, ho! help. O lady, speak again! Sweet Desdemona! O sweet mistress speak! (Act V, Scene III, Line 119) In this moment it is clear that Emilia ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The main conclusion of the article was that 45 years after the Attica prison riot, many of the reforms demanded still exist today, and by inmates in about 40 prisons bonding together they wish to make a change. Within the article, the arguments presented as to why inmates are taking such measures is that besides the evident reason to end injustice, there now seems to be a larger possibility for reform. I feel that the first argument had strong and credible evidence to support it, but with more information provided it would have helped to inform a reader with no previous knowledge about the history of the issue. As for the second argument, this one would have been much stronger with the incorporation of hard data, such as the details of living conditions, and also if more than one side of the problem had been presented. However, I did find the article very enlightening due to the strength of being able to inform on the ongoing fight that little is heard about through specific examples. • 27. Punishment Of A Crime And Criminal Justice System The history of punishment in America has had multiple changes in order for the rules and regulations to adapt to societies changing ways. The most common punishment is jail time or imprisonment, however in this date and age time punishment is not the only option to punish a criminal of the society, probation, parole, house arrest and even being put in solitary confinement, or worse the death penalty are options. With this in mind we must as a society and criminal justice system be able to apply fair living standards and punishment by recognizing what punishment is best suited for an inmate and to also be able to come back into society fully understanding the moral codes and regulations placed to be a successful member of society. In American we seem to allow worse punishment to develop through time in order to put more fear into the culture to act accordingly or get punished. When sanctions are placed they show how that society runs and its moral understanding of those who break the law. Sanctions were created for punishment of a crime however they serve as a small place of protection against civilians. However, in America we seem to not have a constant remedy that can help assist those who are criminals, harsher punishment may not be the answer however, in a culture where anything can happen, we must know, implement and be able to understand how different sanctions work in order to reduce crime. Also how we can further develop other sanctions that may help our society ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It went on to mention that BAC had been struggling with regulatory changes from the previous administration, but that talk of deregulation by the new Trump administration could help improve BAC s position moving forward. (The Wall Street Journal, 2017, n.d.). Now, according to the latest data from Investopedia, BAC s Price to earnings ratio, (P/E) is 17.56, which is a high, and I like to keep P/E ratios for companies that I invest in at lower than 14, but since a lot of this growth has occurred since my initial investment, I am ok with its high P/E ratio, although BAC may be a stock that needs to be considered for profit taking by any investor who bought this stock prior to last year. Another consideration for a potential BAC investor is the fact that BAC pays a dividend. Before an investor should consider buying or selling a stock, it should always contemplate how dividends should be incorporated in that decision. BAC current pays a 1.44% annual dividend. (Investopedia, 2016, n.d.). While 1.44% may not seem like a lot, it is attractive to me as an investor because that extra percentage can cover a large portion of the fees involved with trading stocks. I think people tend to overlook these important details when considering an investment. In general BAC and financials have had a really good run and many may seem expensive compared to other investments, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. The Opinion Of Charter Schools As I began working on this essay, my first step was to google charter school news articles. One of the first two articles that I came across was from a well known conservative news source. The other was published in a prominent outlet for liberal news. I was amazed at the polar opposite views that the two sources had on the subject and decided to see if this dichotomy continued in other news outlets as well. I then looked up a ranking of various news sources as liberal or conservative. I visited websites with varying political views and read articles that they had composed about charter schools and their effects. Throughout my process of examining the media s opinion of charter schools I came across a clear divide. The liberal media is wholeheartedly opposed to charter schools whereas the conservative media views them as the only saving grace for our failing school system. These opinions on charter schools are very closely tied to the overall world view of our two major political parties. Both sides agree that our school system is struggling and needs to be improved in some way. However, they differ in how this should be done. The only thing that the two sides seem to truly agree on is the framing of children as very vulnerable and susceptible to damage done to them by a failing school system. One of the main conservative political platforms is that free markets are the best answer to any problem. Schooling is no exception. An education system with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Taking a Look at Antenna Technology The field of antennas is vigorous and dynamic, and over the last 60 years antenna technology has been an indispensable partner of the communication revolution. Antenna has been considered an important component in the development of modern wireless communication devices. In addition to receiving and transmitting energy, an antenna in an advanced wireless system is usually required to optimize the radiation energy in some directions and suppress in others. For wireless communication systems the antenna is one of the most critical components. A good design of the antenna can relax system requirements and improve overall system performance. The planar antenna configurations such as microstrip and patch antennas have been found suitable for such systems. These antenna configurations are of low profile, lightweight, simple and inexpensive to fabricate. The main design goal of antenna design for modern communication systems is to achieve the better performance for desired frequency bands. But the main disadvantage of using microstrip antenna for recent day s wireless communication is to achieve multi frequency operation with single antenna, maintaining the performance the antenna for all desired frequency. One solution for multi frequency operation is to design different antennas for each frequency, results in bulky structure and the mutual coupling between different feed elements will become a problem. • 33. The Grapes Of Wrath By John Steinbeck And The Grapes Of Wrath The novels The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck and Under the Feet of Jesus by Helena Maria Viramontes both explore the plight of migrant farmers in California. Steinbeck tells the story of white migrant workers during the Great Depression and Viramontes tells the story of Mexican migrant workers. The novels deconstruct the perceived California dream in which great wealth can be achieved through hard work by recounting the plights of migrant workers who recognize the illusion and take action against it. Steinbeck s novel portrays the plight of the Joad family, natives of Oklahoma. The Joads, a family of dispossessed farmers, travel to California searching for work after the forces of large scale banking capitalism remove them from their land. They chase the promise of a new beginning and the opportunity to find wealth because of the California dream. Steinbeck narrates the journey of an underclass family achieving the Marxist construction of class consciousness. Class conflict between wage slaves and the owners of the means of production, social alienation through the separation of labor and profit, and dehumanization of workers through the mass commodification of labor all appear in the novel. Class consciousness defines the novel and is the method by which the Joad family is able to rise against the bourgeois and capitalism. The book, Ethan Frome, displays a multitude of motifs which further the main ideas and themes of the story. Motifs are used to highlight the theme. Due to the complex nature of the book, Ethan Frome written by Edith Wharton, motifs are used to further the ideas and themes presented in this tale. The first motif of the story is Gravestones. For example that to Ethan, still in the rosy haze of his hour with Mattie, the sight came with the intense precision of the last dream before waking (Wharton 22). Red seems to represent the romantic feelings Ethan has for Mattie. Red symbolizes the interest he has in her. Red also is meant to represent lust as that she wore her usual dress of darkish stuff, and there was no bow at her neck; but through her hair she had run a streak of crimson ribbon. This trubute to the unusual transformed and glorified her. She seemed to Ethan taller, fuller, more womanly in shape and motion ( Wharton 82). Ethan s feelings are that of a person in love. This motif furthers the theme of lack of control, as Ethan has no control over the fact that he has these emotions. He is helpless to the power of his emotions over him . Lastly, for the third motif: Silence. Silence is this presiding force which causes significant tension and pain in this story. Ethan feels relief after the mortal silence of his long imprisonment changed to having Zeena s volubility was music to his ears . (Wharton 29). The immersion experiences in which I participated were great opportunities to learn about the culture in more depth. The first experience I was able to attend was on June 13, 2015. In downtown Indianapolis Indiana, I had the opportunity to attend the Italian Culture Festival. Organized each year by the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, this festival was full of music, cultural food, and I was lucky enough to experience a traditional Italian religious procession and Mass (Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 2015). The festival was packed with people from the city and from the Italian culture. I had never experienced a festival such as the one held in Indianapolis. Being from the east coast and not of the Italian culture, the festival was a refreshing yet, uncomfortable experience at times. I observed a traditional dance, the tarantella and those around the area all seemed to know most of the steps or the words to some of the songs in the set they played. The locals tried to get me to dance along but, I could not keep up with them on the fly. The tarantella is one of the most famous of Italian dances and performers dance quickly to an upbeat song (Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 2015). The bad girl film cycle is one of the latter trends of the 50s Social Problem film and an examination of this cycle will provide theoretical speculation regarding its influence on the rise of the Second Wave Feminist Movement. In order to examine the potential influence of these films and the topicality of bad girl representation during the 1950s scare of juvenile delinquency, the following lines of inquiry will be explored: 1.
