Contrast Between a System of Logic and the Foundation of...
Explain, as clearly as possible, John Stuart Mill s view of arithmetic put forward in his book A
System of Logic (Book II, Chapter 6) and then present how Gottlob Frege argues against Mill s
view in his book entitled The foundations of Arithmetic . Mill s Argument: Book 2; Chap. 6 We
need axioms and definitions in order to structure an argument that points to certainty; each theorem
must be solidly grounded on the other. Axioms are solidly grounded on experience. They are the
most universal class and the most reliable. The so called Deductive Sciences are therefore also
inductive science in that whilst they rest on pure and empirical experience, they are suppositions
from these bases and only hypothetical. They are approximate to the truth but lack the same
certainty. This theory however must be tested in order to see whether it is categorically applicable
to all sickness including those based on numbers such s Calculus; Arithmetic and Algebra. Every
step of arithmetic seems to demonstrate a real inductive progression, such as 2+1 = 3. It is based on
solid fact. They are based on evidence. But even here we have inductive with calculations flowing
form the fact. Inductions of arithmetic are of two sorts: One purely inductive flowing form the
other Some hypothetical where we merely assume that there is equality between all inductions
/ theorems: What is commonly called mathematical certainty, therefore, which comprises the
twofold conception of unconditional truth

Pharmaceutical Industry Pharmaceutical needs have been a part of everyday human life ever
since we have walked on this Earth. It is a need that is demanded each and every day by different
people, for various medical conditions. It is incredible how the medicine today differs from the ones
back then, including the way it was advertised and the process of it being made. In the nineteenth
century, pharmaceutical companies used marketing tools through advertisements directly from the
consumer to producer, usually through newspaper ads. Originating in England, patented medicines
made their way across to America in the 18th century. A lot of the times these medicines contained

This needed to be addressed immediately due to the amounts of different prescription drugs that
were on the street at that time. This is when the American Medical Association was organized.
Starting in 1847, the goals of this organization were to improve the image of medicine and begin
to gain control over physicians and their qualifications. Between the years 1800 1840, the quality
of education in the medical field declined due to the fact that traditional four year programs were
replaced by training in medical colleges. The only issue with this is that once you graduated you
were licensed, but the qualifications of each physician varied so widely that there was a motion to
have a national conference in order to discuss and improve the American medical education. An
important document that came out of these conferences is the Code of Ethics that was infused
with the American Medical Association. This Code of Ethics consisted of three chapters. The
first, was the the Duties of Physicians to Their Patients, and of the Obligations of Patients to their
Physician. Second was Of the Duties of Physicians to Each Other and to the Profession at Large.

Theme Of The Lesson By Toni Cade Bambara
Settings in Toni Cade Bambara s The Lesson
The Lesson by Toni Cade Bambara is a short story set in the part of New York City. In this story,
the plot takes a journey from the place like a ghetto to F.A.O. Schwartz, an expensive upscale toy
store. The children live in an African American neighborhood, in Harlem, NY. They travel to
upscale stores, on Fifth Avenue in midtown, which is a much more expensive part of New York City
. The story is narrated by a young girl named Sylvia, as she explains an afternoon she spent with an
educated neighbor named Miss Moore. Miss Moore wants to teach the neighborhood children about
the world outside of ghetto and around them the lesson she wants to impart is the economic
inequality that exists in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the story it is summer time and Sylvia is on summer vacation, And school suppose to let up in
summer I heard, but she don t never let us (Bambara 147). Summer vacation for Sylvia is
spending time at the park, at the show, and at the pool, and as Sylvia proclaims its puredee hot
(Bambara 147). Sylvia s first thought is further reflected in her desire to go to the pool or the
show where it s cool (Bambara 147), where she would just let life happen to her, and never get
worked up and angry over the social injustice created by class distinctions. When Sylvia did not
got the satisfactory answer from Miss Moore for the price of real boat her anger was spotted, if
you gonna mess up a perfectly good swim day least you could do is have some answers
(Bambara 149). This emphasize that she want the answer of every injustice that she is facing in
her life. Just as Miss Moore is trying to create a feeling of ain t nobody gonna beat me at nuthin
(Bambara 151), she is also trying to provoke the anger which is necessary for the children to get
motivated. At the end of the trip, Miss Moore leaves the children in front of the mail box, back
where the trip started, thus creating a frame for the lesson of social equality. This frame is
completed with Sugar and Sylvia s new understanding of the necessity of social equality for
everyone. And something weird is going on; I can feel it in

Evaluation Of A Exercise Based Interventions
Inter individual variability in the direction and magnitude of weight change in response to
supervised exercise based interventions has been well documented (Table 1). Even in the highly
controlled environment of an isolated experimental station over an 84 day period exercise induced
weight loss ranged between 3 and 12 kg [48]. More recent studies showed that certain participants
even gain weight in response to supervised exerciseinterventions [42,49]. Accordingly, changes in
fat mass and fat free mass have been shown to vary considerably [36,42]. King et al. showed a
roughly 50:50 split between so called responders (i.e. participants who achieve expected weight loss
) and non responders (i.e. participants who experience a small amount of weight loss or weight
gain) [36]. Other studies indicate that a majority of participants displays some form of
compensatory adaptation with a ratio of responders to non responders of 1:2 [46,49]. Even though
there is, most likely, considerable inter individual variability in metabolic adaptations in response
to exercise [42,48], success in weight loss interventions has been largely attributed to behavioral
compensation such as a decline in non exercise PA and/or an increase in energy intake [22,36,46];
in addition to an obvious association with adherence to the exercise protocol. In fact, it has been
argued that the individual variability in weight loss can be entirely attributed to the variability in
non exercise PA [46,50].

Gay Parenting And Adoption
Gay parenting and adoption LGBT couples have existed for a very long time, and they have
been raising children for years and years, but discrimination has led these people to hide from
society (which in its majority is heterosexual.) However, on recent years there has been a decrease
in discrimination and prejudice against lesbians and gay men, leading to more people Coming out
and accepting their sexual preferences; which has led more LGBTpeople to freely perform normal
activities as couples, e.g., encouraging themselves to adopt children, and do things that seem as
normal to heterosexual couples.
This raises a question, why is LGBT adoption such a controversial topic? To answer this question
we need to go deep into politics and religion, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By 2000, census data showed that number had risen to one in five for male couples and one in
three for female couples. Based on these estimates, at least 250,000 children nationwide are being
raised by same sex couples. Census analysts note that these numbers may be significantly
underestimated, because many gays and lesbians do not self report their sexual orientation to the
government. (Further, census data indicate that lesbian and gay households can be found in 99
percent of all U.S. counties.) However, the census reveals close to nothing without detailed
information of the [private] lives of the individuals. Which would be considered unconstitutional,
and is would never be done inside the US.
But what exactly happens when homosexual couples are allowed to be foster parents? We have yet
to know the answer to this question. Elsewhere , including New York, a same sex marriagelaw took
effect July 24, and since same sex adoption was legal before that, this does not change the
conclusion regarding how gay couples have an effect on their adopted children, if they have an

The Genocide Of The Rwanda Essay
In 1994, Rwanda was a situation of hatred and revenge tailored by European influence that mixed
together to form the recipe for Genocide. Classical control of third world nations and exploitation
by the west is nothing new. In Africa, the direction of the government is often manipulated by
countries that have had historical control over them. The Genocide of Rwandawas a transfer of
position that placed the Hutupeople in a seat of power over the former rulers, which were the
Tutsis elite. This shift in power led to the division of a nation, evolving propaganda, and a
psychological approach used to create a genocide.
In the early history of Rwanda, there lie differences in people, but peace among the populace was
always upheld in the eyes of the Tutsis. In the opinion of the Hutu, they recall being subjugated
beneath the mwami , the Tutsis elite. In the precolonial times, the Hutu and Tutsis were called a
collective name, the Banyarwanda, which was the term for people of Rwanda. Germany gained
control of the region in 1885 and governed their region through the mwami . An English man
named John Hanning Speke gave a hardline separation of the two people that would be echoed by
the Belgians and the Hutus later into the 20th century. The term Hamitic hypothesis stated that the
origins of the Hutu and Tutsis were that of a leader and servant. It claimed that the origin of Tutsis
had descended from the Biblical King David out of Ethiopia and they were a superior race

The Waste Of Waste Management Centres
As our global population continues on a steady rise so does our product consumption, which
naturally leads to an increase in waste production. The vast amount of waste that we are
manufacturing ultimately lands up in our oceans, lakes, rivers, alley ways, backyards and parks
creating what are known as garbage towns. This would introduce health risks to individuals and the
community as a whole. These risks could also include exposure to dangerous chemicals that poses
detrimental effects on the environment. To avoid this from happening governments have created
landfills. Landfills are a place to dispose of refuse and other wastematerial by burying it and
covering it over with soil, especially as a method of filling in or extending usable land. (Webster
Dictionary). In an even more extravagant attempt to keep waste material out of the streets and non
biodegradable products out of the ground and keeping organic material together governments have
added recyclingand composting plants to landfills to make waste management centres. In waste
management centres they may separate the material there and transport it to its respective plant, or
have the respective plants built in. We researched the effects and consequences of constructing
and operating a landfill in the north west area, there are various benefits and drawbacks of said
waste management centre. After weighing the pros and cons based on our specific region, we
decided to accept the idea of a landfill operating in our

The Mystery Of The Salem Witchcraft Trials
The Mystery of the Salem Witchcraft Trials Jennifer Hollenbeck AP United States History Mrs.
Price November 12, 2014 The Salem witchcraft trials were a particularly dark and mysterious
time in the history of America. These trials that were arranged upon the belief of witchcraft could
have multiple explanations. In my opinion these trials began as a combination between religious
factors, boredom, social issues and all coming together in a mess of suspicion and deceit. Although
these trials did start because of the Puritan s imagination, their true religious belief in witchcraft,
childish antics, and their hatred for their neighbors helped to fuel their imagination. The people s
imagination began to lead the people in the town of Salem, Massachusetts into a deadly witch
hunt. The Salem Witchcraft Trials were a series of trials in Salem, Massachusetts which accused
many local women with witchcraft. The legal proceedings began in the spring of 1692. More than
two hundred people were accused of this witchcraft. Of these two hundred people twenty were
executed. The setting at the time of the Salem witchcraft trials was a period of unrest. There was
increasing tension between the two main parts of Salem, which included Salem Village and Salem
Town. Salem town was a bustling port with a number of shops, large merchant s houses, and local
government buildings. In contrast, Salem Village consisted of a few scattered farms and
farmhouses roughly clustered around the

Driving Standard Research Paper
Driving Standard Even though it is an important skill to learn, only around 25% of americans
are able to drive standard. The difference between a standard car, also called a manual car, and an
automatic car is that with a standard car you are able to control when the transmission switches
gears. Usually, there are 6 different options when driving a standard car: 1st gear, 2nd gear, 3rd
gear, 4th gear, 5th gear and reverse. The first couple gears are classified as ВЁthe power gears,ВЁ
because those gears produce the most power the fastest. Even though they produce more power
than other gears, they require to be shifted faster due to the RPMs. RPMs stand for revolutions per

To turn on the car, it is important that you understand the 3 different petals: Clutch, gas and
brake. The difference between the petals on a standard and the petals on an automatic is that in
a standard car, there is an extra petal, which is the clutch. In contrast to an automatic, a standard
car requires you to use both feet. The clutch allows you to shift into another gear and turn on the
car. Now that you have an understanding of the clutch, turning on the car will be no problem. To
turn on the car, leave the shifter in neutral (you know it is in neutral when you can wiggle the
shifter knob) put your right foot on the brake, press the clutch with your left foot and turn the
key. When the car turns on, take your foot off the clutch. A common mistake people make is
riding the clutch, or keeping your foot on the clutch too long, which causes the clutch to burn
out. Now, you want to put it in gear to make the car go. To make the car go, press the clutch with
your left foot, shift to 1st gear, press the gas a little and slowly take your foot off the clutch while
giving it a little more gas. Now that you have the car going, pay close attention to the RPM gauge.
A common RPM gauge is shown

Spirometry Lab Report
The overarching goal of this experiment was to measure respiratory volumes and capacities using
spirometry (Marieb Smith, 2016). Spirometry is a technique which makes use of a device known
as a spirometer in order to determine values for inspiratory reserve volume, tidal volume,
expiratory reserve volume, as well as others, and thus has a practical use in the fields of anatomy
and medicine (Marieb Smith, 2016). Consequently, since this experiment deals extensively with the
processes involved in respiration, it is essential to have a sufficient level of background information
on the anatomy and physiology of the lungs (Marieb Smith, 2016).
The lungs are an essential part of the respiratory system, since their main purpose is to perform ...

Beginning with the inspiratory reserve volume, abbreviated as IRV, this value refers to how
much air one is able to actively inspire (Marieb Smith, 2016). This is followed by tidal volume, or
TV, which is the amount of air a person takes in and then expels in every breath under standard
conditions (Marieb Smith, 2016). The third value measured in this experiment was the expiratory
reserve volume, shortened to ERV, which denotes how much air one actively expires after breathing
normally, or after a tidal volume expiration (Marieb Smith, 2016). The final value was the total lung
capacity, or TLC, which refers to the total amount of air the lungs can hold after a having put in
the maximum effort in inspiration, and can also be calculated by the following formula:
TLC=TV+IRV+ERV+RV (Marieb Smith, 2016). RV, or residual volume, is how much air is left
behind in the lungs after an active effort to expire, and is noted to be around 1200mL or 1100mL
for men and women, respectively (Marieb Smith,

Immigration Problems In America
America is often referred to as the Land of Immigration ( A History of Immigration in the USA ).
The foundation of America was built on immigration, when in 1492 Christopher Columbus, an
Italian explorer, discovered the Americas. Not only is immigration the base of America s history,
but it is also beneficial to the economy and society. Immigration increases the labor force, including
everyday, necessary jobs (Anderson). Therefore, immigrants are beneficial to the economical and
societal growth of America. To begin with, immigration causes a number of problems for America.
The first problem is that America is being overrun with immigrants. This problem is focusing on the
undocumented immigrants. A solution to stopping undocumented immigrants from overrunning
America is building a wall. The overwhelming increase of immigrants is causing a problem for U.S.
citizens; because of immigrants, jobs are taken away from American citizens. A third problem that
immigration causes is that immigrants are a drain on society s resources (Cole). Government
benefits should be cut off from immigrants. Stopping these benefits would save money and
diminish incentives for immigrants to illegally enter the United States(Cole). Although immigrants
come to America, they refuse to assimilate (Cole). Their refusal to assimilate denies America of its
cultural and political unity. An example of this is the large migration of the Chinese to California in
the 1850s. These Chinese immigrants

Mentoring For Senior Professional Field
Mentoring is an interregnal part of every professional field. Organizations that pursue future
improvement and development focus on mentoring by means of inviting internal and external
professionals to mentor junior members. Mentoring is a rather complex subject and often takes
serious preparation on the part of a mentor. Just being an experienced professionalis not enough for
becoming a good mentor for juniors. Mentoring is a responsible activity, which requires high levels
of patience, professionalism, ethics, enthusiasm, tolerance and skills. Even though most of
organizations mention highly developed training programs, in practice mentoring is still a new
territory for most of them and often the professionals cannot properly explain what actually makes a
good mentor and what efficient mentoring should include.
The field of engineering is one of the professional spheres where young specialists are in high
demand since there is a growing skills shortage in this field. To be able to function effectively in
the future, engineering companies must take the issue of skills and professional scarcity seriously
and improve mentoring methods in order to prepare highly qualified workers for the future.
The word mentor comes from ancient Greek mythology, Mentor was the name of the teacher of
Odysseus s son (Miller 3). Today this word is used to refer to wise and reliable supervisors. First of
all, mentoring is based on a relationship between a mentor and a protГ©gГ©. The success

Virtual Stealing
In Should Gamers Be prosecuted for Virtual Stealing? by Alex Weiss, the author attempts to
argue against a Dutch jury s decision on a case involving virtual theft. The essay discusses a
Dutch court case involving a thirteen year old who stole something from another person inside
of a video game. The author then proceeds into telling readers about stories from a game called
EVE. He talks about the value that the time is worth and his past experiences in EVE. I have
found that the author was unable to write an effective argument. The author showed weak
pathos, bad ethos, and crude logos. The author s pathos was weak in the sense that there was so
little of it. He told a story of how he was once a thief in EVE and that he has since changed. This
could get people inspired to turn over a new leaf. Weiss also stated that Kotaku said that six years
of subscriptions to EVE was equivalent to one thousand... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was no real research done about RuneScape, the game the court case was on. This showed
the author to be lazy. He did do research on EVE which shows inconsideration and bias because he
chose to do research on a topic that had nothing to do with the case and it was something he was
familiar with. Weiss shows himself to being bias in the fact that he offers no rebuttal to his
argument. The author willingly gave up information in his personal story that proves himself to be
dishonest and untrustworthy. Weiss stated that he was in an e relationship with someone who
thought he was a girl (729). Weiss did use a good source when it comes to his subject. His source
is good for gamers, but the author is writing to non gamers and they may see his source as
unreliable. Weiss has presented himself to be lazy, bias, inconsiderate, dishonest, and untrustworthy.
Weiss ethics will end up being called into question and this will weaken the effectiveness of his
argument rather than present himself in a more positive

The Unrealistic Expectations Of Social Media
It is no secret that social media has taken over a lot of our time, and perception on society. It
influences our day to day lives without us really knowing. Social media usually portrays one s life
to be perfect, or it makes us feel like one s life needs to be perfect. For this reason being, social
media can be a bad thing. In The Social Networks by Neal Gabler, he explains how media has
taken away the meaning of friendshipor anything real . In the long run, social media makes things
seem better than they actually are, it gives us unrealistic expectations for our friend and family
interactions, which kills the chance of having actual friendships because our expectations are so
high. So, here are the reasons elaborated on why social media... Show more content on

Fake friends is not referring to people whom you cannot trust, but to the friends that you have on
Facebook and do not actually see in real life. This is a trend that has been seen on most social
media websites. It is also a lot harder to develop true friendships in real life because, as
mentioned before, our unrealistic expectations of friends has made us want the kinds of friends
we see on TV. Facebook, in fact, only underscores how much traditional friendship friendship in
which you meet, talk and share has become an anachronism and how much being friended is an
ironic term, expresses Gabler. As mentioned before Social media networks like Facebook make
it seem as though we have more friends than we actually do. However, in reality we do not really
know most of the people we are friends with on Facebook because being with friends on
Facebook is more about the number and not if you actually know the person or not. Not only do
we not know most of our friends on our friends list, but we get lazy to actually go out and make
real friends. It is just so much easier to stay at home and click the add button. Gabler also points
out, One study found that Americans had one third fewer nonfamily confidants than they had 20
years earlier, and 25% had no one in whom to confide whatsoever. Another study of 3,000
Americans found that on

Regular Exercise And Depression Essay
Does regular exercise reduce stress levels, and thus reduce symptoms of depression?
There is a very complex relationship between stressful situations, our mind and body s reaction
to stress and the onset of depression. Some people develop depression after going through
stressful events in their lives, such as the death of someone close, loss of job and other negative
and traumatic problems that can cause large amount of stress (Prentiss, 2009). These problems
make us experience a mixture of physical and emotional effects that can create stress as a positive
or negative feeling. The human body is designed to experience and react to stress; it can be both a
positive and negative influence. Positive stress can give a person the drive and ... Show more

They found that an exercise training programme could be an alternative treatment for MDD.
Although antidepressants had a more rapid response than exercise, after 16 weeks of exercise
the effectiveness in reducing depression was equal to the anti depressants. A study also found
that a single bout of exercise could result in substantial improvements in mood, which shows that
it s not just duration and frequency. However, it may be that the improvement in mood is only
temporary (Dimeo et al., 2001). Lawler and Hopker (2001) stated that effectiveness of exercise
on depression couldn t be determined due to lack of quality research based on clinical
populations. They also wrote that the explanations of the results may have been that depressed
patients who did regular exercise could have got positive feedback from other people and a sense
of self worth, which may act as a diversion from negative thoughts. Physical activity was found to
be linked with less coexisting depression, which remains the same after controlling for gender,
age, and race. The results of the study showed that physical activity is helpful with medical
problems, life stressors and quality of sleep (Harris et al., 2006).
Comparing recent studies shows that there may be a link between exercises and reducing stress
levels, there are a lot of disagreements with the duration and types of exercise that

Essay On Tourette s Syndrome In The Classroom
Tourette s Syndrome in the Classroom
Introduction to Tourette s Syndrome
Students have many academic experiences that are different from each other. Every student has
his/her own abilities or disabilities that affect their learning process. Some disabilities do not
necessarily prohibit a child s learning, but others may adversely affect a child s cognitive abilities.
Some learning disabilities are addressed in an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or a 504
plan. Once a teacher realizes that a student has some sort of special needs, then the teacher must
plan to make adjustments or accommodations to address those needs. One of these conditions is
Tourette s syndrome. According to Jankovic (2014), Tourette s syndrome is a common... Show

Risk factors for this conditions include male sex, and a family history of tics, OCD, and
possibly ADHD (p. 2333). The symptoms of Tourette s Syndrome typically start in early
childhood with the visible tics. It may take a while for a doctor to firmly diagnose certain tics as
Tourette s syndrome as it difficult to diagnose this condition. It usually takes about a year after the
tics become present for them to be diagnosed and the diagnosed is made clinically and does not
need neuroimaging or laboratory testing for the condition to be confirmed (Kurlan, 2010, 2333).
The tics related to this condition cause problems in several daily functions in various ways in many
aspects of their lives.
There are many options for treatments for people diagnosed with Tourette s Syndrome. According
to Dr. Kurlan (2013), tics can be treated with habit reversal cognitive behavioral therapy,
medications (most commonly alpha agonists and antipsychotics), local intramuscular injections of
botulinum toxin and some severe, refractory cases have responded to deep brain stimulation
surgery (DBS). Some of these treatments can be also used for people diagnosed with other
disabilities including ADHD and OCD. Behavioral therapy can help children with Tourette s
Syndrome monitor their tics. The other methods are mostly either medications or DBS (Deep Brain
Stimulation) which is usually used by people who

The Effects of Different Disinfectants on Bacteria Essay
I chose to do the effects of different disinfectants on bacteria because I have always wondered if
disinfectants such as Clorox, Lysol, and hand sanitizer actually kill 99.9 percent of germs. Also, I
know that there are harsh chemicals that can be damaging to us over time. Do these harsh
chemicals get the job done? Maybe taking a green, organic way could be the solution in the future.
My main question is which is the better disinfectant, Clorox Disinfecting Wipes or Lysol
Disinfecting Wipes. I want to uncover the truth about each product and show the reality of both.
Are they really getting the job done?

William Shakespeare s Julius Caesar
Gustav Berner Mrs. Hillard Honors English 10 F 15 January 2015 Julius Caesar Discussion
1.)Brutus trust in others and his love of Rome are his greatest faults. His tragic flaw is the trust
he places in others. Brutus is easily swayed to trust Cassius when he plots to kill Caesar. Cassius
uses his cunning to trick Brutus into believing Caesar is ambitious and that he is killing Caesar
for the good of Rome. Cassius says to Brutus, Why, man, he doth bestride the narrow world like a
Colossus, and we petty men walk under his huge legs...the fault, dear Brutus is not in our stars,
but in ourselves, that we are underlings (Shakespeare Act I. ii. 142 148). Cassius is speaking of
how Caesar is becoming almost like a tyrant or emperor in the aspect that he is becoming more
powerful than everyone else. Brutus love Rome dearly and does not want it destroyed or ruled by
a tyrant or emperor. Therefore, Brutus is manipulated by Cassius into murdering Caesar. Later on
after Caesar is murdered, Antony makes a speech that is full of irony. His speech tells of how
Brutus says Caesar was an ambitious man, and that Brutus is an honorable man. Antony says,
Brutus says he was ambitious, and Brutus is an honorable man... When the poor have cried, Caesar
hath wept; ambition should be made of sterner stuff. Yet Brutus says he was ambitious, and Brutus

4th Amendment Research Paper
In 1791, a vital document for the United States of America was written. The Bill of Rights. James
Madison fulfilled the Anti Federalists wishes by adding a list of rights to the constitution in order
for the document to be ratified. The Bill of Rights addresses rights and freedoms which were
violated under British rule. Although all 10 amendments are important, I have analyzed each one
and ranked their importance. In 1791, some amendments would seem more important than others
due to the recent events from the Revolution. Each amendment is relevant in its own way but some
are exercised more than others by individuals in the United States. The first amendment of the Bill

On Wednesday, December 23, 2015 I job shadowed Tara Woodhull for the job shadow part of my

had no assistant and did all of her decorating herself.
When I entered the store, she was creating her batch of frosting for the day. She made her

Vietnam war. In 1959, the communist government of North Vietnam had devised a guerrilla
campaign in democratic South Vietnam. The government of North Vietnam had the goal of uniting
both countries under a communist reign. The United Statesquickly became an ally with South
Vietnam because they feared the spread of communism. The aftermath of the war resulted in sixty

William Shakespeare s Macbeth And Wuthering Heights
Andrew Sloop
Mrs. Weaver
English 4
May 29, 2017
Destructive Love In Macbeth and Wuthering Heights The theme of destructive love within
relationships in Shakespeare s Macbeth and Bronte s Wuthering Heights are presented through
sexism, jealousy, and betrayal. How do women gain control in a relationship? Can men regain
control in a relationship? What makes a good relationship? What makes a bad relationship? Can
people be over ambitious? These questions are vital to understanding the complex relationships in
these stories. Women gain control in a relationship in several ways. Some relationships don t
struggle for power, and sometimes a participant simply gives the woman power freely. However,
other times, the woman abuses her partner ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Macbeth, Macbeth becomes king. When this happens, Lady Macbeth becomes docile, where
before she was fiery, ruthless, and the driving force in the relationship. Macbeth then became
dominant over Lady Macbeth, gaining control in the relationship. Thus, in this example, control
was regained. In Wuthering Heights, Heathcliff eventually came to own Wuthering Heights, and
appropriated Thrushcross Grange. When this happened, he was angry with Catherine, because he
did not know her plan. He isolated her from the rest of the household. He became more powerful.
Thus, he regained control in the relationship.
What makes a good relationship? This question has plagued the romantically inclined for perhaps
all of time. Dr. Sarkis of Psychology Today seems to think that common goals and values are key,
stating Couples with very different interests can have healthy relationships what counts is that they
share common goals and values. (psychologytoday.com.) In this sense, the relationship in Macbeth
is considered a good relationship. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth do, after all, share a common goal:
They both want Macbeth to be king. However, they are not the only ones who share a common
goal or value.
Heathcliff and Catherine s love is an attempt to break the boundaries of self and to fuse with another
to transcend the inherent separateness of the human condition; fusion with another will by uniting
two incomplete individuals

A Brief Note On Assisted Suicide And Suicide
As the semester goes on I need to continually do progress reports to see how far I have grown as a
writer. I also need to do progress reports so my manager can see where I am at for my white paper:
The Right to Assisted Suicide. At the beginning of the semester I was asked to write a progress
report of my writingthus far. During that memo I wrote three goals; to improve my grammar, to
add more details to my essays, and fixing mistakes from past essays.
White Paper
So far I have found all of my sources for my white paper. I have been able to find about five
websites for assisted suicide and I have found four websites against assisted suicide. I have talked to

several excellent reasons why assisted suicide is good for those who are suffering from a long term
disease.
Grammar
During my first progress report I wrote that I needed to grow in grammar. The goal is still the
same although I was asked to specify. The final test that I will use is to go back and do the
grammar test that we had used previously. I hope to get a lot higher of a score then I did. The
worksheets I have used have come from grammar websites where I was learning the rules. I said
I would like to work on five different grammar sheets. Within this semester I have been improving
in grammar. I got an app that quizzes me on grammar usage; I also have done a few worksheets,
though I do think the app is better. I think I have stayed the same for the grammar category in my
writing assignments. I do feel as if I understand the rules better but I do not think I have shown
improvement.
Details
Another goal I set for myself was putting more details in my essays. I was asked to define what I
meant by descriptive point, I meant a point that explains what I mean exactly. For example, while
talking about assisted suicide I do not just want to say people die, I want to explain why people
die and how. I think I have gotten a lot better in this category, which is making my writing make

Examples Of John Bender In The Breakfast Club
John Bender s breakthrough of high school stereotype in The Breakfast Club Written and directed

Film Analysis Of Rear Window By William Hitchcock
Rear Window has unique filmography. Emphasising the idea of voyeurism and watching others.
Observing the first scene instead of beholding the main character or even side characters, you
recognize the building of the various apartments and the courtyard and then you meet Jeff. Jeff is
a broken man, he lays down sweating, asleep on a chair. But you only catch a glimpse of Jeff, he
is not important instead the film focuses on the people in the apartments nearby in the rest of the
film he will watch out his window. Through this film, you observe this evolution of the characters
through the lens of this beautifully shot film made by the sets and background characters. Without
sets, this film would not be exactly what it is. This story is told through its images, music and
background characters as much if more than its lead. This is a movie about watching movies and
as an audience member, you re watching Jeff watches his neighbors. Hitchcock bluntly tells us we
are watching a film. An enormous amount of the film is at night similar to a dark theater this is

environment in the film before you even meet Jeff present the theme of the film. By showing the

Mandatory Liquor Searches In Schools
Although others may disagree, random locker searches would be a very reasonable idea. No one
knows what other kids may be hiding in their lockers. This concern could be very dangerous in
some cases. First and foremost, there is a substantial amount of reasons to back this up. Students
could be hiding not only dangerous, life threatening objects, but there could also be inappropriate
items. With these locker searches being random, it could prevent students from taking any things
they might have in there and doing something else with them. Therefore, it would make sure that
everything that was in the locker to remain where it is, because the adolescent would not know
about the searches taking place. Commonly, students would want to hide any objects they know

This delay is called the incubation period. Most organisms take up temporary residencies in the
intestines, while others produce toxins that can get into the blood stream; these are the most
severe cases of foodborne illness. This is why food safety is imperative to this experiment.
Everything must be at the proper temperature to be consumed. If it is not, then the outcome will
not be good. I will take every measure possible to make sure that everything is correct. So why
would these foods spoil if they weren t refrigerated? Pathogenic bacteria grows rapidly in
temperatures above 4.4В°C (40В°F). This type of bacteria does not affect the smell, taste, or
appearance of the food, making it difficult to determine whether or not the pathogens are present.
By refrigerating foods at the correct temperature, you are eliminating the chances of these
harmful pathogens growing in your food and contaminating them. For example, if you
accidentally left a jug of milk on the counter overnight it would become warm and develop a
rancid odor. If you were to drink it, the chances of you getting a foodborne illness would be high
considering that the harmful pathogens had time to grow. Spoilage bacteria can also grow at low
temperatures, however they cause foods to develop disgusting odors and appearances. Most
people would not choose to eat these foods, but if they did they would most likely not become ill.

The Catcher in the Rye, a novel written by J.D. Salinger, follows the short journey in which a
teenage boy is coming to terms with his encroaching adulthood. Holden, the main character, has
been kicked out of a private school for the third time. In New York, he is on the verge of a mental
breakdown. Holden is reluctant to act on the obvious solution of returning home and feels
discombobulation towards the consequences he might have to face. He reflects on the death of his
brother and struggles from loneliness because his brother was the only person he really had a
connection with. He now has no one around his age to reach out to.Salinger illustrates through the
struggles of Holden that the hardest part of growing up the whirl winds a... Show more content on

Again it can be seen when Bernice, the blonde, asks, Hey how old are you anyways and Holden
tells us that it annoyed him and then responds, Oh, Chris. Don t spoil it. I m twelve, for chrissake.
I m big for my age .(94) From this, we can understand Holden yearning to be taken seriously as an
adult, but his childish acts always get in the way of positive reactions from adult and ultimately
his acceptance as an equal. In this search for his right of passage into adulthood,Holden is
constantly trying to keep prove himself. Holden is 17 years old, and he is not really a child
anymore and tries to gain validation from strangers and himself by drinking and smoking. In the
early chapters of the book Holden acts immature, but as the journey progresses so does Holden.
He comes to make rational decisions as his trip goes on as demonstrated by Salinger when
Holden calls Sally and asks her out on a real date; it is considerably less callow than when he
called Faith in the middle of the night in hopes of getting drinks and then having sex. Holden
starts to learn and grow into his age. Notice that Holden only drinks in public and never in privacy.
He looks to others for recognition that he can take alcohol like a man. When he smokes in the room

Rise Of Atlantis Research Paper
The Rise of Atlantis
The first recorded telling of Atlantis was told by Plato. Some people debate that the first telling
of Atlantis was told by Solon 300 years prior to Plato s telling of Atlantis. The story starts when
the atlantic ocean was navigable and there was an island in front of the Pillars of Heracles. It
was the said to be bigger than libya and Asia together. The island of Atlantis was a powerful
empire that ruled over the whole island and several other parts of the world. Over 11,000 years
ago Atlantis was the domain of Poseidon who fell in love with a mortal woman called Cleito who
gave birth to 5 sets of twin boys. On top of Atlantis in the middle of the island he created a
dwelling surrounded by water to protect her. The founders of Atlantis were half god and... Show

suspected submerged city to find the site then surveyed it with a combination of deep ground radar,
digital mapping, and underwater technology. Buried in the vast marshlands of the Dona Ana Park
they found a strange series of memorial cities, built in Atlantis image by the refugees who fled the
destructive tsunami. Atlantis residents who did not die built new cities

Kierkegaard And Communism
On first and second glance, it may appear impossible to draw any concrete connection between the
philosophy of SГёren Kierkegaard, a seventeenth century Danish Philosopher who worked heavily
on existential themes, faith, and Christianity, and the Soviet Union. On one hand, Kierkegaard
himself lived his life almost solely in Denmark, rarely leaving his own hometown, so his
experience of the World outside of Denmark was extremely limited and focused on his world,
especially the world of the Danish National Church. On the other hand, the Soviet Union embraced
Communism, and with it its atheistic stances on social and political implications of religion and
religious institutions, the Soviet ideology would appear to stand in opposition to the... Show more

In order to attempt this sort of analysis, there are a number of factors that must be addressed first,
with the most crucial being the understanding of Kierkegaard, his relevant works, and his
Philosophy. SГёren Aabye Kierkegaard was born in 1813 in Copenhagen to Ane SГёrensdatter
Lund Kierkegaard and Michael Pedersen Kierkegaard, the latter a pastor of the Danish National
Church. According to Daniel Conway, a professor of Philosophy and the Humanities at Texas A
M, although influential today for his diverse contributions to the fields of philosophy, theology,
rhetoric, literary theory, and depth philosophy, Kierkegaard was widely known in his own day as
a provocative social critic (Conway 2015, 1). He was highly critical of the church in his
hometown, and the Danish National Church in general, in addition to Christianity and what it
meant for one to have faith in the almighty. Thus, much of Kierkegaard s work deals with faith and
Christianity to some extent, as seen with Fear and Trembling, the work that will be most heavily
sourced within this thesis. Kierkegaard s Fear and Trembling was written and published in 1843
under the pseudonym Johannes de Silentio. Kierkegaard often wrote and published his works under
different pseudonyms, each often having some sort of significance to the work in which it is
situated. The significance of the pseudonym of Fear and Trembling, according to the author of

Not Just Minor Characters In April Morning, By Howard Fast
Not Just Minor Characters Pop! Ping! Bang! These are the sounds that rang throughout the morning
of April 19th, 1775, in Lexington, Massachusetts. Howard Fast writes in the book April Morning
about the day of the Battle of Lexington through the eyes of Adam Cooper, but Adam is not the
only important characterin this story. Granny Cooper, Sarah Cooper, and Ruth Simmons do not
seem to have a major role, but they are not just minor characters. GrannyCooper is the mother of
Moses Cooper and the grandmother of Adam Cooper. Even though Granny never picked up a gun
the entire book, she is still a very important character within the story. Fast writes in April Morning
that Adam makes the comment, My own opinion was that Granny could win hands down in any
argument, but she would not argue with her son in front of his own children. Adam means that

She is the wife of Moses Cooper and the mother of Adam Cooper. In April Morning, Fast writes, I
don t see how it gives her the right to talk to you the way she down. You re a grown man, not a
boy. (pg 46). Sarah conveys that she does not approve of the way Granny Cooper talks to Moses
Cooper. She is defensive of her husband s pride. She also seems annoyed that her mother in law
talks that way to her husband like he is a child, not a grown man. After Sarah discovers that
Moses is dead, she is very upset. If I don t appear just the same I mean the way you think about
me as your mother today and even tomorrow, you understand . (Fast pg 195). Sarah is in shock
that her husband is dead. She has never had this happen to her, so she does not know how to
process her emotions. She tells Adam that she may not be able to act as his mother right now,
because she is mourning Moses. Sarah Cooper is painted as a static character and she does not

The Iranian Hostage Crisis Of 1979
The Iranian Hostage Crisis of 1979 was an event that profoundly impacted Western Iranian relations,
to the extent that its residual effects still linger today. Iran s revolution of 1979 resulted in a regime
change that saw U.S. supported Mohammed Reza Shah Pahlavi toppled by the formerly exiled
Ayotollah Khomeini, who promptly instated a strongly anti Western regime that established itself as
ideologically in direct opposition to many Western values. This anti Western, and particularly anti
American sentiment was common amongst many Iranians due to their resentment of U.S. support
for Shah Pahlavi and his oppressive and unsatisfactory regime. This resentment was markedly
exhibited to the international community with the seizure of the American Embassy in Tehran by
Khomeini supporting Islamist students, who took 66 Americans hostage. Since the Western realm
is held together by shared values and sense of community, amongst other features, and Khomeini s
Iranhad proven itself to be not only an ideological threat to Westerners, but a security one as well
as exemplified by the hostage taking, Canadaswiftly worked bilaterally to defend its realm by
sheltering 6 American diplomats in the home of Canadian Ambssador Ken Taylor, and covertly
aiding the C.I.A. in the hostages extraction . Canada s role in the hostage crisis internationally
reinforced its loyalty to the Western realm, and in particular, its strong bilateral relationship with
the United States. This paper will

An Introductory Course Into Animal Assisted Therapy Essay
Through this introductory course into Animal Assisted Therapy, I have learned about the Human
Animal Bond, the history of AAT and AAA, the five freedoms, the differences between AAT and
AAA, and the various populations in which this therapy responds greatly to. This paper gives a
detailed and comprehensive overview of what I have learned from this course and my own
perception of how I will incorporate things learned from this course into my everyday life and into
my future career in AAT. The HAB, or the Human Animal Bond, is the relationship between human
beings and animals. The American Veterinary Medical Associations committee on the Human
Animal Bond describes HAB as, a mutually beneficial and dynamic relationship between people
and other animals that is influenced by behaviors that are essential to the health and well being of
both (Fine, 2015). There are many factors that play into creating a heathy relationship for both the
animal and the human. Relationships between animals and humans have to be voluntary, persistent,
reciprocal, and built upon trust (Fine, 2015). Humans need to increase their understanding and care
for the animal while the animal increases their trust level for the human (Fine, 2015). Three theories
that aim to tell us why the HAB exists are social support, the foundation for mental health and
healthy functioning, theories of attachment, which explains the human needs of protection (both
needing protection and protecting others), and the biophilia

Essay about Full Inclusion in US Classrooms
People with disabilities have long suffered from discrimination and segregation. In the 1880,
people with hearing, visual, physical, mental or emotional impairments were sent to be educated
in residential institutions or asylums. ( Issues about Change) Parents and family of those with
disabilities put pressure on our government and legislation to develop and provide equal access
to education by way of mainstreaming or special education. Section 504 of Public Law 93 112
passed in 1973 had far reaching effect on exclusion and discrimination. (Gollnick and Chinn p.

Teaching students with exceptional abilities requires funding, training and planning. Being in a
regular classroom with children from various cultures, ethnic backgrounds and intellectual
ability help students learn how to work together toward a common goal: reduce discrimination
and stereotyping people with physical and mental limitations. Instructional strategies that break
the work down so everyone learns better can improve education as well as reduce cost. This is
achieved by including special education students in environments that will allow them to
develop normal social interactions as well as receive specific attention to their learning needs. (
What is Special Education ) Children with disabilities need to be recognized as individuals as
well as be valued for the people they will grow to be. In the classroom the growing process can
be difficult to achieve depending on the nature and severity of the disability. Not all children will
be served by full inclusion, some students have disabilities that require medical attention or
physical facilities such as specially equipped bathrooms, ramps or elevators that may not be found
in the traditional school building. For example, a child with severe cerebral palsy with severe limb
constriction, lack of bowel control, inability to feed themselves and confined to a wheelchair,

The Importance Of Historical Fiction
Historical Fiction has been around since the beginning of history. Historical Fiction is always
changing and adapting to the new history around us. Since time changes so fast and so much, it is
important to learn about the past. When learning about the past it is less likely that one would
repeat some of the same horrific actions that happened in the past. Historical Fictionis important
because it is the background information to people s knowledge, it is important for the world to
learn and know, and it should be taught in schools to widen children s educationlevels. Without out
all of these things many people would not even bother with historical fiction. Since historyis always
changing it is very to tell a story about fictional events. Historical fiction is just like that.
Historical Fiction is a story told about an event perhaps fictional or real, and about people also
fiction or real. ( Phillpott, A History of Historical Fiction). Historical fiction takes a piece of
history and adds fiction story that people can relate to. For many people when they read historical
fiction it opens up an unknown about history. When a new historical fiction book is read people
can learn more about a historical event that they might not have known about before. Reading
historical fiction can give them a new background knowledge. This then makes people want to
learn more about history and read more historical fiction. Historical fiction is very important
because it can bring

How To Write A Photo Analysis Essay
The weak fall, but the strong will remain and never go under, stated by Anne Frank. I settle on
this quote because it is significant to the photo that I have chosen. The photo that I found was
searched on Google. When I initially found the photo on Google, it was an image that was
originally from Pinterest. As I looked more into the photo it was also shown on many other
websites of displayed images but had no information about it. A majority of people ponder about
photographs when examined and have their own perspectives about them. In the photo that I have
chosen, it could imply to the readers that it suggests the simple act of kindness given to individuals
who need happiness.
The photo depicts a young girl and a young boy standing on a wooden dock near the ocean as the
sun is beginning to set along the side of them. There are a group of geese flying above the ocean

This photo looks as if the young girl is offering the young boy help by giving him a balloon and the
benefit from the help given is receiving happiness. Although, the photo illustrates more than just
the simple fact of giving and receiving. The photo shows the opportunity to help the ones in
desperate need. This photo works as a powerful representation of individuals in need. The young
girl has all the opportunities in life to do what she wants and still gives her time to help the young
boy. That is shown by the illustration of the young girl offering the young boy a balloon.
Everyone needs a helping hand at a certain time in their life. Most importantly not everyone knows
what people go through but the best option is to offer support whether or not they will accept it. In
addition, the worse act that can be given is to ignore someone, and that certain someone can only
learn from the action of rejection. This thought is invoked because in the photo it is shown that the
young boy does not accept the balloon that is given to him by the young

Catullus Poetry Analysis
A less theoretical definition of poetry is, putting the best words in the best possible order. A poet
may incorporate the theory as follows. The poet may astutely choose words possibly with a
double meaning in order to indirectly convey a message, evoke emotions, or to slander. Then, the
poet may unconventionally place such words and phrases perhaps out of expected order for the
sake of creating a wordpicture, emphasizing the speaker s feelings, or offering tangibility to the
poem. By implementing this idea onto poetic works, the poet will have auspiciously written a
superb poem. This theory may be applied to a few of Catullus s poems specifically Carmen 5 ,
Carmen 8 , and Carmen 85. Catullus s meticulous choice of words and arrangement highlight the
central focus of the poem, obliquely criticize traditional Roman law, manipulate the audience s
attitude, transmit the speaker s emotions, paint word pictures, and offer symbolic meaning
consequently producing a successful poem. For starters, Carmen 5 is an amorous poem Catullus
wrote directed at his forbidden lover, Lesbia. Catullus insists they should disregard the rumors of
old men, because while the sun is able to return, they only have one life to seize. Therefore,
Catullus demands hundreds and thousands of kisses in a jumbled up manner from Lesbia, so their
ardent passion cannot ever be cursed by the wicked ones. The strategic placement of the words let
us live and let us loveliterally place Lesbia as the central focus of the work. In the original Latin
text, the opening line reads as, vivamus, mea Lesbia, atque amemus, which the words vivamus and
amemus enclose Lesbia and thus point to her as the center of the poet s life and love
(Fredricksmeyer 436). It suggests Catullus viewed Lesbia as much more than an erotic, love poem
topic. Evidently, the poem is enhanced through Catullus placing the best words in the best possible
order, because the main subject of the poem is intentionally given significant importance.
Furthermore, in Carmen 5 Catullus chose the best words, when describing the people, whose
comments he and Lesbia should not be concerned about as sour old men (Gregory, L. 2). The
actual Latin words for the

Online Banking And Its Impact On The United States

Since the 1980 s, online banking has made the lives of everyday people more convenient. With the

One of the first computerized innovations to online banking, the credit card, revolutionized how

1950 1960 s:
During the 1950 a man named Frank X. McNamara, was sitting at dinner when he realized he had

About 20 years later in 1981, a few New York City banks including, Citibank and Chase Manhattan,
introduced the first form of online banking to the US. The first service allowed customers to send
transfers and bills by connecting the TV set and telephone line (7). While this is different than what
we think of as traditional online banking, this was the cornerstone to what online banking has
become today.
1990 1995:
After a long absence of innovations to online banking, Stanford Credit Union was the first financial
institution to offer online banking to all of its customers in 1994(7). This was important for online
banking because it set a standard that helped get more financial institutions on board with online
banking. That same year, online banking was built into Microsoft s money personal finance sloppy
disc software. Over 100,000 began accessing online banking using this device (5).
1996 2000:
By the mid 1990 s most of the major banks now offered online Bill Pay to all of its customers for a
small monthly fee (6). By this time, online banking has begun to grow rapidly, along with the
concerns for customer security. Like with many changing technologies, many customers of online
banking become skeptical of how well the technology could protect them. With growing concerns
from customers, banks began increasing their security with online accounts (7).

In 2001, it was reported that eight US banks now have at least one

Video acquisition was done using a GoPro Hero 2 camera. Furthermore, a Vicon MX motion capture

However, only detected events will be classified.
Tricks are found by having high accelerometer at the landing impact after the execution of a trick.
First, area of interest is determined by the highest accelerometer readings. Secondly, the gyroscope
gets the exact time of landing impact within the previous area of interest. Thirdly, the trick time
difference is based on the detected landing impact. An illustration of this is in Fig. 4.
The accelerometer signal is analysed by a sample wise processing of data stream. The detected
area is based on the highest acceleration signal at landing impact. The sum of accelerometer
acquired values will be calculated by the time. And the threshold is set based on athletes, skateboard
and ground. If the sum of accelerometer values goes beyond the declared threshold, at that time.
The signal will be the area of interest. This means each performed trick can have multiple area of
interest due to the landing impact after the trick.
However, hard take off, hard kicks on board, more acceleration is measured on each trick could
exceed the specified threshold and this leads to more area of interest.
Contrary to highest acceleration signal gotten at take off, the gyroscope signal shows the highest
change in signal at landing impact. For all previously detected times and derivative of the
gyroscope signal will be analysed with the interval {ta 1s] to ta +1s]. therefore, L 1 norm of the

  • 2. Contrast Between a System of Logic and the Foundation of... Explain, as clearly as possible, John Stuart Mill s view of arithmetic put forward in his book A System of Logic (Book II, Chapter 6) and then present how Gottlob Frege argues against Mill s view in his book entitled The foundations of Arithmetic . Mill s Argument: Book 2; Chap. 6 We need axioms and definitions in order to structure an argument that points to certainty; each theorem must be solidly grounded on the other. Axioms are solidly grounded on experience. They are the most universal class and the most reliable. The so called Deductive Sciences are therefore also inductive science in that whilst they rest on pure and empirical experience, they are suppositions from these bases and only hypothetical. They are approximate to the truth but lack the same certainty. This theory however must be tested in order to see whether it is categorically applicable to all sickness including those based on numbers such s Calculus; Arithmetic and Algebra. Every step of arithmetic seems to demonstrate a real inductive progression, such as 2+1 = 3. It is based on solid fact. They are based on evidence. But even here we have inductive with calculations flowing form the fact. Inductions of arithmetic are of two sorts: One purely inductive flowing form the other Some hypothetical where we merely assume that there is equality between all inductions / theorems: What is commonly called mathematical certainty, therefore, which comprises the twofold conception of unconditional truth ... It is a need that is demanded each and every day by different people, for various medical conditions. It is incredible how the medicine today differs from the ones back then, including the way it was advertised and the process of it being made. Starting in 1847, the goals of this organization were to improve the image of medicine and begin to gain control over physicians and their qualifications. Between the years 1800 1840, the quality of education in the medical field declined due to the fact that traditional four year programs were replaced by training in medical colleges. The only issue with this is that once you graduated you were licensed, but the qualifications of each physician varied so widely that there was a motion to have a national conference in order to discuss and improve the American medical education. An important document that came out of these conferences is the Code of Ethics that was infused with the American Medical Association. This Code of Ethics consisted of three chapters. The first, was the the Duties of Physicians to Their Patients, and of the Obligations of Patients to their Physician. Second was Of the Duties of Physicians to Each Other and to the Profession at Large. They travel to upscale stores, on Fifth Avenue in midtown, which is a much more expensive part of New York City . Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the story it is summer time and Sylvia is on summer vacation, And school suppose to let up in summer I heard, but she don t never let us (Bambara 147). Summer vacation for Sylvia is spending time at the park, at the show, and at the pool, and as Sylvia proclaims its puredee hot (Bambara 147). Sylvia s first thought is further reflected in her desire to go to the pool or the show where it s cool (Bambara 147), where she would just let life happen to her, and never get worked up and angry over the social injustice created by class distinctions. When Sylvia did not got the satisfactory answer from Miss Moore for the price of real boat her anger was spotted, if you gonna mess up a perfectly good swim day least you could do is have some answers (Bambara 149). This emphasize that she want the answer of every injustice that she is facing in her life. Just as Miss Moore is trying to create a feeling of ain t nobody gonna beat me at nuthin (Bambara 151), she is also trying to provoke the anger which is necessary for the children to get motivated. At the end of the trip, Miss Moore leaves the children in front of the mail box, back where the trip started, thus creating a frame for the lesson of social equality. • 8. Evaluation Of A Exercise Based Interventions Inter individual variability in the direction and magnitude of weight change in response to supervised exercise based interventions has been well documented (Table 1). Even in the highly controlled environment of an isolated experimental station over an 84 day period exercise induced weight loss ranged between 3 and 12 kg [48]. More recent studies showed that certain participants even gain weight in response to supervised exerciseinterventions [42,49]. Accordingly, changes in fat mass and fat free mass have been shown to vary considerably [36,42]. King et al. showed a roughly 50:50 split between so called responders (i.e. participants who achieve expected weight loss ) and non responders (i.e. participants who experience a small amount of weight loss or weight gain) [36]. Other studies indicate that a majority of participants displays some form of compensatory adaptation with a ratio of responders to non responders of 1:2 [46,49]. Even though there is, most likely, considerable inter individual variability in metabolic adaptations in response to exercise [42,48], success in weight loss interventions has been largely attributed to behavioral compensation such as a decline in non exercise PA and/or an increase in energy intake [22,36,46]; in addition to an obvious association with adherence to the exercise protocol. In fact, it has been argued that the individual variability in weight loss can be entirely attributed to the variability in non exercise PA [46,50]. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Gay Parenting And Adoption Gay parenting and adoption LGBT couples have existed for a very long time, and they have been raising children for years and years, but discrimination has led these people to hide from society (which in its majority is heterosexual.) However, on recent years there has been a decrease in discrimination and prejudice against lesbians and gay men, leading to more people Coming out and accepting their sexual preferences; which has led more LGBTpeople to freely perform normal activities as couples, e.g., encouraging themselves to adopt children, and do things that seem as normal to heterosexual couples. This raises a question, why is LGBT adoption such a controversial topic? To answer this question we need to go deep into politics and religion, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By 2000, census data showed that number had risen to one in five for male couples and one in three for female couples. Based on these estimates, at least 250,000 children nationwide are being raised by same sex couples. Census analysts note that these numbers may be significantly underestimated, because many gays and lesbians do not self report their sexual orientation to the government. (Further, census data indicate that lesbian and gay households can be found in 99 percent of all U.S. counties.) However, the census reveals close to nothing without detailed information of the [private] lives of the individuals. Which would be considered unconstitutional, and is would never be done inside the US. But what exactly happens when homosexual couples are allowed to be foster parents? We have yet to know the answer to this question. Elsewhere , including New York, a same sex marriagelaw took effect July 24, and since same sex adoption was legal before that, this does not change the conclusion regarding how gay couples have an effect on their adopted children, if they have an effect at ... • 10. The Genocide Of The Rwanda Essay In 1994, Rwanda was a situation of hatred and revenge tailored by European influence that mixed together to form the recipe for Genocide. Classical control of third world nations and exploitation by the west is nothing new. In Africa, the direction of the government is often manipulated by countries that have had historical control over them. The Genocide of Rwandawas a transfer of position that placed the Hutupeople in a seat of power over the former rulers, which were the Tutsis elite. This shift in power led to the division of a nation, evolving propaganda, and a psychological approach used to create a genocide. In the early history of Rwanda, there lie differences in people, but peace among the populace was always upheld in the eyes of the Tutsis. In the opinion of the Hutu, they recall being subjugated beneath the mwami , the Tutsis elite. In the precolonial times, the Hutu and Tutsis were called a collective name, the Banyarwanda, which was the term for people of Rwanda. Germany gained control of the region in 1885 and governed their region through the mwami . An English man named John Hanning Speke gave a hardline separation of the two people that would be echoed by the Belgians and the Hutus later into the 20th century. The term Hamitic hypothesis stated that the origins of the Hutu and Tutsis were that of a leader and servant. It claimed that the origin of Tutsis had descended from the Biblical King David out of Ethiopia and they were a superior race ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Waste Of Waste Management Centres As our global population continues on a steady rise so does our product consumption, which naturally leads to an increase in waste production. The vast amount of waste that we are manufacturing ultimately lands up in our oceans, lakes, rivers, alley ways, backyards and parks creating what are known as garbage towns. This would introduce health risks to individuals and the community as a whole. These risks could also include exposure to dangerous chemicals that poses detrimental effects on the environment. To avoid this from happening governments have created landfills. Landfills are a place to dispose of refuse and other wastematerial by burying it and covering it over with soil, especially as a method of filling in or extending usable land. (Webster Dictionary). In an even more extravagant attempt to keep waste material out of the streets and non biodegradable products out of the ground and keeping organic material together governments have added recyclingand composting plants to landfills to make waste management centres. In waste management centres they may separate the material there and transport it to its respective plant, or have the respective plants built in. • 12. The Mystery Of The Salem Witchcraft Trials The Mystery of the Salem Witchcraft Trials Jennifer Hollenbeck AP United States History Mrs. Price November 12, 2014 The Salem witchcraft trials were a particularly dark and mysterious time in the history of America. These trials that were arranged upon the belief of witchcraft could have multiple explanations. In my opinion these trials began as a combination between religious factors, boredom, social issues and all coming together in a mess of suspicion and deceit. Although these trials did start because of the Puritan s imagination, their true religious belief in witchcraft, childish antics, and their hatred for their neighbors helped to fuel their imagination. The people s imagination began to lead the people in the town of Salem, Massachusetts into a deadly witch hunt. The Salem Witchcraft Trials were a series of trials in Salem, Massachusetts which accused many local women with witchcraft. The legal proceedings began in the spring of 1692. More than two hundred people were accused of this witchcraft. Of these two hundred people twenty were executed. The setting at the time of the Salem witchcraft trials was a period of unrest. There was increasing tension between the two main parts of Salem, which included Salem Village and Salem Town. Salem town was a bustling port with a number of shops, large merchant s houses, and local government buildings. In contrast, Salem Village consisted of a few scattered farms and farmhouses roughly clustered around the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The difference between a standard car, also called a manual car, and an automatic car is that with a standard car you are able to control when the transmission switches gears. Usually, there are 6 different options when driving a standard car: 1st gear, 2nd gear, 3rd gear, 4th gear, 5th gear and reverse. The first couple gears are classified as ВЁthe power gears,ВЁ because those gears produce the most power the fastest. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To turn on the car, it is important that you understand the 3 different petals: Clutch, gas and brake. The difference between the petals on a standard and the petals on an automatic is that in a standard car, there is an extra petal, which is the clutch. In contrast to an automatic, a standard car requires you to use both feet. The clutch allows you to shift into another gear and turn on the car. Now that you have an understanding of the clutch, turning on the car will be no problem. To turn on the car, leave the shifter in neutral (you know it is in neutral when you can wiggle the shifter knob) put your right foot on the brake, press the clutch with your left foot and turn the key. When the car turns on, take your foot off the clutch. A common mistake people make is riding the clutch, or keeping your foot on the clutch too long, which causes the clutch to burn out. Now, you want to put it in gear to make the car go. To make the car go, press the clutch with your left foot, shift to 1st gear, press the gas a little and slowly take your foot off the clutch while giving it a little more gas. Spirometry is a technique which makes use of a device known as a spirometer in order to determine values for inspiratory reserve volume, tidal volume, expiratory reserve volume, as well as others, and thus has a practical use in the fields of anatomy and medicine (Marieb Smith, 2016). Consequently, since this experiment deals extensively with the processes involved in respiration, it is essential to have a sufficient level of background information on the anatomy and physiology of the lungs (Marieb Smith, 2016). The third value measured in this experiment was the expiratory reserve volume, shortened to ERV, which denotes how much air one actively expires after breathing normally, or after a tidal volume expiration (Marieb Smith, 2016). • 16. Immigration Problems In America America is often referred to as the Land of Immigration ( A History of Immigration in the USA ). The foundation of America was built on immigration, when in 1492 Christopher Columbus, an Italian explorer, discovered the Americas. Not only is immigration the base of America s history, but it is also beneficial to the economy and society. Immigration increases the labor force, including everyday, necessary jobs (Anderson). Therefore, immigrants are beneficial to the economical and societal growth of America. To begin with, immigration causes a number of problems for America. The first problem is that America is being overrun with immigrants. This problem is focusing on the undocumented immigrants. A solution to stopping undocumented immigrants from overrunning America is building a wall. The overwhelming increase of immigrants is causing a problem for U.S. citizens; because of immigrants, jobs are taken away from American citizens. A third problem that immigration causes is that immigrants are a drain on society s resources (Cole). Government benefits should be cut off from immigrants. Stopping these benefits would save money and diminish incentives for immigrants to illegally enter the United States(Cole). Although immigrants come to America, they refuse to assimilate (Cole). Their refusal to assimilate denies America of its cultural and political unity. An example of this is the large migration of the Chinese to California in the 1850s. These Chinese immigrants ... Mentoring is a responsible activity, which requires high levels of patience, professionalism, ethics, enthusiasm, tolerance and skills. Even though most of organizations mention highly developed training programs, in practice mentoring is still a new territory for most of them and often the professionals cannot properly explain what actually makes a good mentor and what efficient mentoring should include. The field of engineering is one of the professional spheres where young specialists are in high demand since there is a growing skills shortage in this field. Within this semester I have been improving in grammar. I got an app that quizzes me on grammar usage; I also have done a few worksheets, though I do think the app is better. I think I have stayed the same for the grammar category in my writing assignments. I do feel as if I understand the rules better but I do not think I have shown improvement. Details Another goal I set for myself was putting more details in my essays. I was asked to define what I meant by descriptive point, I meant a point that explains what I mean exactly. For example, while talking about assisted suicide I do not just want to say people die, I want to explain why people die and how. I think I have gotten a lot better in this category, which is making my writing make ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Examples Of John Bender In The Breakfast Club John Bender s breakthrough of high school stereotype in The Breakfast Club Written and directed by John Hughes, The Breakfast Club is the first quintessential high school drama that has become one of the most significant regarding high school student images. This concern could be very dangerous in some cases. First and foremost, there is a substantial amount of reasons to back this up. Students could be hiding not only dangerous, life threatening objects, but there could also be inappropriate items. With these locker searches being random, it could prevent students from taking any things they might have in there and doing something else with them. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to attempt this sort of analysis, there are a number of factors that must be addressed first, with the most crucial being the understanding of Kierkegaard, his relevant works, and his Philosophy. SГёren Aabye Kierkegaard was born in 1813 in Copenhagen to Ane SГёrensdatter Lund Kierkegaard and Michael Pedersen Kierkegaard, the latter a pastor of the Danish National Church. According to Daniel Conway, a professor of Philosophy and the Humanities at Texas A M, although influential today for his diverse contributions to the fields of philosophy, theology, rhetoric, literary theory, and depth philosophy, Kierkegaard was widely known in his own day as a provocative social critic (Conway 2015, 1). He was highly critical of the church in his hometown, and the Danish National Church in general, in addition to Christianity and what it meant for one to have faith in the almighty. Thus, much of Kierkegaard s work deals with faith and Christianity to some extent, as seen with Fear and Trembling, the work that will be most heavily sourced within this thesis. Kierkegaard s Fear and Trembling was written and published in 1843 under the pseudonym Johannes de Silentio. • 45. The Iranian Hostage Crisis Of 1979 The Iranian Hostage Crisis of 1979 was an event that profoundly impacted Western Iranian relations, to the extent that its residual effects still linger today. Iran s revolution of 1979 resulted in a regime change that saw U.S. supported Mohammed Reza Shah Pahlavi toppled by the formerly exiled Ayotollah Khomeini, who promptly instated a strongly anti Western regime that established itself as ideologically in direct opposition to many Western values. This anti Western, and particularly anti American sentiment was common amongst many Iranians due to their resentment of U.S. support for Shah Pahlavi and his oppressive and unsatisfactory regime. This resentment was markedly exhibited to the international community with the seizure of the American Embassy in Tehran by Khomeini supporting Islamist students, who took 66 Americans hostage. Since the Western realm is held together by shared values and sense of community, amongst other features, and Khomeini s Iranhad proven itself to be not only an ideological threat to Westerners, but a security one as well as exemplified by the hostage taking, Canadaswiftly worked bilaterally to defend its realm by sheltering 6 American diplomats in the home of Canadian Ambssador Ken Taylor, and covertly aiding the C.I.A. in the hostages extraction . There are many factors that play into creating a heathy relationship for both the animal and the human. Humans need to increase their understanding and care for the animal while the animal increases their trust level for the human (Fine, 2015). Since time changes so fast and so much, it is important to learn about the past. When learning about the past it is less likely that one would repeat some of the same horrific actions that happened in the past. Historical Fictionis important because it is the background information to people s knowledge, it is important for the world to learn and know, and it should be taught in schools to widen children s educationlevels. Without out all of these things many people would not even bother with historical fiction. Since historyis always changing it is very to tell a story about fictional events. • 51. Catullus Poetry Analysis A less theoretical definition of poetry is, putting the best words in the best possible order. A poet may incorporate the theory as follows. The poet may astutely choose words possibly with a double meaning in order to indirectly convey a message, evoke emotions, or to slander. Then, the poet may unconventionally place such words and phrases perhaps out of expected order for the sake of creating a wordpicture, emphasizing the speaker s feelings, or offering tangibility to the poem. By implementing this idea onto poetic works, the poet will have auspiciously written a superb poem. This theory may be applied to a few of Catullus s poems specifically Carmen 5 , Carmen 8 , and Carmen 85. Catullus s meticulous choice of words and arrangement highlight the central focus of the poem, obliquely criticize traditional Roman law, manipulate the audience s attitude, transmit the speaker s emotions, paint word pictures, and offer symbolic meaning consequently producing a successful poem. For starters, Carmen 5 is an amorous poem Catullus wrote directed at his forbidden lover, Lesbia. Catullus insists they should disregard the rumors of old men, because while the sun is able to return, they only have one life to seize. Therefore, Catullus demands hundreds and thousands of kisses in a jumbled up manner from Lesbia, so their ardent passion cannot ever be cursed by the wicked ones. The strategic placement of the words let us live and let us loveliterally place Lesbia as the central focus of the work. In the original Latin text, the opening line reads as, vivamus, mea Lesbia, atque amemus, which the words vivamus and amemus enclose Lesbia and thus point to her as the center of the poet s life and love (Fredricksmeyer 436). It suggests Catullus viewed Lesbia as much more than an erotic, love poem topic. Evidently, the poem is enhanced through Catullus placing the best words in the best possible order, because the main subject of the poem is intentionally given significant importance. Furthermore, in Carmen 5 Catullus chose the best words, when describing the people, whose comments he and Lesbia should not be concerned about as sour old men (Gregory, L. 2). • 52. Online Banking And Its Impact On The United States Introduction: Since the 1980 s, online banking has made the lives of everyday people more convenient. With the new innovations and creations to computers, online banking has grown to become the most used form of banking in the US (5). From the first ATM to mobile banking technology has helped shape One of the first computerized innovations to online banking, the credit card, revolutionized how cash was money was used in society. 1950 1960 s: During the 1950 a man named Frank X. McNamara, was sitting at dinner when he realized he had left the house without cash. After having to call his wife to bring him some, he vowed to create something to solve this problem. That same year McNamara and his friends started the first credit company ... The first service allowed customers to send transfers and bills by connecting the TV set and telephone line (7). While this is different than what we think of as traditional online banking, this was the cornerstone to what online banking has become today. 1990 1995: After a long absence of innovations to online banking, Stanford Credit Union was the first financial institution to offer online banking to all of its customers in 1994(7). This was important for online banking because it set a standard that helped get more financial institutions on board with online banking. That same year, online banking was built into Microsoft s money personal finance sloppy disc software. Over 100,000 began accessing online banking using this device (5). 1996 2000: By the mid 1990 s most of the major banks now offered online Bill Pay to all of its customers for a small monthly fee (6). By this time, online banking has begun to grow rapidly, along with the concerns for customer security. Like with many changing technologies, many customers of online banking become skeptical of how well the technology could protect them. With growing concerns from customers, banks began increasing their security with online accounts (7). 2001 2005: In 2001, it was reported that eight US banks now have at least one

  • 54. Data Acquisition Case Study 2. Methods 2.1 Data acquisition 2.1.1 Hardware The data acquisition was based on the miPod sensor called inertial magnetic measurement unit containing a MPU9150 chip with a three dimensional accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer. The miPod IMMU was manufactured in such a way that it is attached to each skateboard and in a stable condition (see Fig. 2). Video acquisition was done using a GoPro Hero 2 camera. Furthermore, a Vicon MX motion capture system with 16 cameras used for referencing the orientation of the board. For this orientation, six (6) reflective markers were used on each skateboard. The motion capture system and IMMU are synchronized by a light based trigger. Whenever the athlete is in the vicinity, a trigger is sent... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, only detected events will be classified. Tricks are found by having high accelerometer at the landing impact after the execution of a trick. First, area of interest is determined by the highest accelerometer readings. Secondly, the gyroscope gets the exact time of landing impact within the previous area of interest. Thirdly, the trick time difference is based on the detected landing impact. An illustration of this is in Fig. 4. The accelerometer signal is analysed by a sample wise processing of data stream. The detected area is based on the highest acceleration signal at landing impact. The sum of accelerometer acquired values will be calculated by the time. And the threshold is set based on athletes, skateboard and ground. If the sum of accelerometer values goes beyond the declared threshold, at that time. The signal will be the area of interest. This means each performed trick can have multiple area of interest due to the landing impact after the trick. However, hard take off, hard kicks on board, more acceleration is measured on each trick could exceed the specified threshold and this leads to more area of interest. Contrary to highest acceleration signal gotten at take off, the gyroscope signal shows the highest change in signal at landing impact. For all previously detected times and derivative of the gyroscope signal will be analysed with the interval {ta 1s] to ta +1s]. therefore, L 1 norm of the gyroscope ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
