Introduction. Photosynthesis Is A Vital Process For The
Introduction Photosynthesis is a vital process for the survival of all life on Earth. The byproduct of
photosynthesis, oxygen, profoundly contributes to the formation of the protective ozone layer
(Johnson, 2016). In addition to that, photosynthesis controls 99% of the Earth s ecosystem for every
organism requires energy to fulfill their metabolism ( Overview of Photosynthesis , 2013). Besides
providing essential energy and oxygen for living organisms, photosynthesis also plays an important
role in the planet s environment by decreasing the atmospheric carbon dioxide (Singhal, Renger,
Sopory, Irrgang, Govindjee, n.d.). In fact, photosynthesis annually reduces more than 10% of the total
carbon dioxide in the air to chemical compounds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Inside the chloroplast are the disc shaped thylakoids, and the aqueous space called stroma ( Overview
of Photosynthesis , 2013). Chlorophyll are embedded within the thylakoid membrane, and responsible
for absorbing light ( Overview of Photosynthesis , 2013). Photosynthesis includes two distinct stages:
the initial light dependent reaction in the thylakoid membrane, capturing solar energy and producing
ATP and NADPH; and the consequential Calvin Cycle in the stroma, using ATP and NADPH to make
carbohydrate ( Overview of Photosynthesis , 2013). A major component of photosynthesis is the
absorption of light. Light is a form of electromagnetic radiation, and travels in waves ( Light and
photosynthetic pigments , n.d.). The distance between the tops of one wave to the next wave is
wavelength. In brief, the shorter wavelength indicates higher energy, and vice versa ( Light and
photosynthetic pigments , n.d.). The electromagnetic spectrum visible to human eye includes
wavelengths between 400 nm to 700 nm ( Light and photosynthetic pigments , n.d.). Red light has the
longest wavelength, about 700 nm, therefore, carries the least energy; while violet is the shortest
wavelength (400 nm) with the highest amount of energy ( Light and photosynthetic pigments , n.d.).
The middle group ranging from low to high energy are orange, yellow, green, and blue, respectively (

Amylase Temperature Lab Report
The Effect of different Temperatures on the reaction rate of Amylase Introduction: Amylases are
enzymes that breaks down starch which accelerates the hydrolysis of glycosidic bonds in
polysaccharides (S. Sivaramakrishnan et al., 2006). They bond with certain substrates to effectively
increase the reaction rate of a chemical experiment. Most enzymes are very specific, as in they would
only bond with a distinct substrate for it to cause a certain reaction. This can be described with the key
and lock analogy. Only one type of key, certain amylase, will be able to open a particular lock,
substrate. Without amylase, a lot of the organs necessary for people will no longer be able to react as
fast, like the digestion of food or respiration. It speeds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Great Law Of Motion Of History Essay
The struggle inherent in putting forward what is hailed as the great law of motion of history (The 18th
Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte 14) rests in ensuring that one s purported application of that law is
consistent with its abstract detailing. For example, in Karl Marx s theoretical works and historical
writing specifically The 18th Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte the philosopher and revolutionary
consistently describes the conditions under which men must operate for them to have a chance at
restructuring their society and achieving emancipation. Marx illustrates across theory and practice
how mankind, though limited in its autonomy by the existing societal order, has an opportunity to
emancipate itself from the legal and political superstructure constructed independently of its will when
sufficiently focused, energized and united. Hence how Marx pays enough heed to a particular, the
ascent of Louis Napoleon, such that he can present it as reflective of a greater universal principle:
historical materialism. After all, we [must] not judge of such a period of transformation by its own
consciousness...this consciousness must be explained rather from the existing conflict between the
social productive forces and the relations of production. (Marx on the History of His Opinions 5).
Marx set out to detail, display and prove a universal law. Insofar as his consideration of emancipation
and the conditions necessary for it constitute that law, he got at least two thirds of the

The, The Roman Empire, And Councils Of The Early Church
Arius, the Roman Empire, and Councils of the Early Church Christianity came to a crossroads during
the fourth century. Previously, there had been gaps in Church teaching, and so some people began to
fill those gaps. One of those people was Arius. Arius was born in 256 A.D. in Libya, but moved to
Alexandria, Egypt and became a presbyter there. He began to teach about Jesus as a creature created
by God the Father, and so therefore not God. This was seen by many early Christians as a possibility,
as there had not previously been any official teaching set, and many of them started to follow Arius.
Though the Church experienced some struggle with this heresy, in the end it was made stronger
because it was forced to set theological beliefs. The Christian Church was advanced in the fourth
century through struggles with the Arian heresy, a drastic change in the Roman Empire, and the
combination of the Empire and Church to combat heresy. Arius teaching called to question multiple
beliefs of Christians that had not yet been established. First, Arius taught that God the Father is one,
singular God.1 He derived this principle from the beliefs of Judaism, from which Christianity was
born. According to Arius, God has some qualities that only he can possess2, making him uniquely
alone and unequal to any other thing. One of those qualities possessed by God is that he is ingenerate.
This means that he had no beginning in time: he always was. He is also perfect, which brings

Epidemiology Of Obesity
Obesity is a leading preventable cause of death worldwide and its prevalence is increasing at an
alarming rate (Barness et al, 2007). For thousands of years obesity was rarely seen, it was not until the
20th century that it became common, some much so that in 1997, the World Health Organization
(WHO) formally recognized obesity as a global epidemic (Caballero, 2007).
Overweight and obesity now affects at least 1.7 billion people. With the largest proportion in
developing countries: In 2010, almost 2 billion people of the world s population are overweight (BMI
between 25 and 29.9 kg/m2) and more than half a billion are obese (BMI 30 kg/m2). Using standard
international criteria by 2015, the figure will be nearer 2.3 billion overweight and ... Show more

The increased prevalence of obesity among high income groups in nonindusrialized countries may
have changed as non indusrialized countries become more affluent and obesity becomes more
prevalent in individuals who have low socioeconomic status (Monteiro et al., 2004).
Egypt studied the prevelance of obesity and overweight among their populations and results were
annoying. Salem et al. (2002) found that the prevalence of obesity among Egyptian children was
14.7% and 15.08% for male and female respectively.
In United States of America (USA), the prevalence of obesity was 10% among children 2 to 5 years of
age and 15% among adolescents. When children at risk for obesity (overweight) were included, the
values increased to 20% and 30%, respectively. Therefore, 1 of every 4 patients examined by
pediatricians either is obese or is considered to be at high risk for developing this challenging health
problem (Ogden et al.,

ever do it by moving up the ranks on Wall Street. He gained his power from the money he made but
that would later change after he was found on fraud and other cases. The story of Jordan Belfort is a
story of one man s raise to power and one hard fall from power, this story can also be seen in William

Prokaryotes Vs Eukaryotes
The cell is the basic unit of life. Two groups are formed between living organisms, and those two
groups are the eukaryotes and prokaryotes. Even though all organisms have the same characteristics of
life, there are differences and similarities that are seen at the cellular level between prokaryotes and
eukaryotes. Prokaryotes came into play around 3.5 billion years ago and then the eukaryotes evolved
around 1.5 billion years ago.
Prokaryotic cells only really refer to bacteria, while eukaryotic cells include animals, plants, protists,
and fungi. The prokaryotes do not have a nucleus or any membrane covered organelles, but eukaryotes
do. Instead, the prokaryotes have a nucleoid because they have a smaller, circular DNA genome,
whereas eukaryotic

The Progressive Era Of The United States
George F. Will once said, The United States is a successful nation that is constantly susceptible to
melancholy because things are not perfect. During the 1880 s to the 1920 s this statement seemed to be
true about America but this sadness was not seen from the outside. The Progressive Era brought out
these issues and made everyone aware of them. This era was a period in the United States that
consisted of social activism and political reforms. The importance of this era was the passing of labor
laws, anti trust laws, unionization for important industries and the introduction of four new
amendments in the constitution.
Children have been servants throughout human history. Employers were taking advantage of children
by making them work very long days and work in dangerous conditions. Children laborers also lacked
an education due to the long hours they worked. Children worked to help support families but yet got
very little pay. Reformers and labor organizers wanted to restrict children labor and improve the
working conditions. Most Americans would never agree, they wanted adults to run the work world and
rather give any available job to an adult than a child. The education reformers battled the vast majority
of America because of their opinions on child education. (I. Yellowitz) After a while, primary school
education was a necessity. This education would improve their self fulfillment and the advancement of
the United States. The Fair Labor Standards Act was designed

Are Kids Lazy Research Paper
Do you think kids get too many trophies? In my opinion, we do. They make kids lazy, and can send
the wrong message, but also, they have good intentions.
Participation trophies tend to make kids lazier. A lot of people say that kids don t have to try as hard to
get an award, (3). That is said because kids, even if they aren t good at the sport, are treated as winners
because as long as you tried and had fun, you won! Also in theory when kids grow up and go to
college or to get a job, they will more than likely give up instead of trying harder, (4). That is because
as kids, we are rewarded for just trying our hardest instead of for pushing past your previous limits to
improve. That just helps to prove my point that we get too many trophies.
Kids are too lazy now. Studies show that over 50% of college students think they should get at least a

That s because trophies should be given to 1st 2nd and 3rd, participation and effort should still be
awarded, but with words and a pat on the back rather than a trophy.(1) Actually showing up and trying
is good, but not necessarily worthy of an award. Also it actually keeps kids from experiencing
frustration and failure(4). People say that because when everybody gets a trophy, nobody feels upset
that someone else got a trophy and they didn t, so they feel no need to improve. That is why it is
sending bad messages. Other bad messages sent by these trophies can be that you re special . That is
thought because parents, coaches, and other adults are constantly giving praise to kids for merely
showing up (4). That tells kids their special because they get good job for just showing up. Also
studies show that they will more than likely blame others because they were always treated special (4).
This shows that when children are treated special, they act like they don t have to take responsibility
for what they do. That is how these trophies send bad

Women of the Middle East
The Women of the Middle East have played substantial roles for their corresponding countries since
the advent of colonialism in the region. Middle Eastern women have worked in all types of fields
including medicine, education, agriculture, government, private sector, and even defense. They have
kept roofs over their family s heads while their husbands were away in wars, or even in foreign
countries to work in jobs that they could not find in their own countries. The roles of women in the
countries of Yemen and Oman are no exception, but while they still find ways to contribute to their
country, they care constantly stereotyped, discriminated, and ridiculed by men who are known and
unknown to them. This paper will discuss the individual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though these laws and cultural Whabbai Islamic practices are taking place, the Yemeni
government likes to portray the women of their country in a different light, stating that their women
were the first ones in the Arabian Peninsula to vote, have members elected to parliament, appoint a
woman to Minister of Human Rights, and as an ambassador to Holland (Embassy of Yemen, 2010).
No matter how hard the Yemeni government tries to cover up the treatment of their women, it has
been proven that Yemeni women are treated as second class citizens and this treatment will not change
until the society rids themselves of their stereotypes.
Like Yemen, the country of Oman places restrictions on their women, though some Omani laws work
in the favor of the Omani women, then for those of the Yemeni s. However restrictive laws towards
women are still present. According to Mary Jane Deeb, the Basic Law prohibits discrimination on the
basis of gender, but women may still undergo legal and social discrimination. (Freedom House, 2010).
Some legal and social discriminations in Oman include the fact that women must have permission
from a male family member to leave the country, women foreign workers can be denied wages and
have their passports taken from them, there are no rules against domestic rape and abuse; women also

Comparing Wollstonecraft s Pride And Prejudice
The novel Pride and Prejudice was set during the late 1700 s and the early 1800 s. Jane Austen wrote
the novel based on the events that occurred around her. Historical conflicts during the construction of
the novel are present in the novel itself. While writing Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen was
influenced by the war with France, the landed gentry, and marriage and gender roles in her society
which caused the plot, characters, and the outcome of the book. The war with France stretched over
twenty two years, and it affected every level of British society. A quarter of a million men were
serving in the regular army, a militia of officers and volunteers in the southeast coast of England
(where Jane was from) were convinced that it was an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In her writing, Wollstonecraft argues that women should be treated with the same equals as men. This
was a conflicting transformation in women s roles that occurred within the century. Elizabeth Bennet
can be considered as an example and a supporter of the writing. Disinherited of her father s property,
Elizabeth is not financially independent, and depends upon advantageous marriage for her future
survival. Although throughout the novel she asserts her independence that reflects some of
Wollstonecraft s opinions and beliefs. An example would be when she rejected to be married with Mr.
Collins even though she was in need of the financial support, as he was the one who was to inherit the
family estate. However Miss Elizabeth Bennet s friend did the exact opposite and married Mr. Collins
because she was already a burden to her parents and was afraid that she would never be asked to
marry again. Elizabeth also stood up to Mr. Darcy when he was making remarks about the country
even though he was at a much higher social status than she was, and she was reminded of that by her

Elasticity Of Demand And Supply
Elasticity of Demand and Supply
INTRODUCTION:
Elasticity : In Economics, how responsive an economic variable is to a change in another is the
measurement of elasticity. It is an unit free measure. By using Elasticities, we can measure the two
markets of price and quantity. The difference among markets can be quantified by the economist using
elasticities without the measurement of the units. It is the responsiveness of one variable (demand or
supply) to a change in another (e.g. cost). This idea is basic to appreciating how advertises function.
The most widely recognized versatilities utilized incorporate value flexibility of interest, value
flexibility of supply, cross value flexibility of interest and pay flexibility of interest.
The Equation of Elasticity is = % of change in quantity / % of change in price.
Elasticity of Demand :
Elasticity of Demand also referred to as Price Elasticity of Demand in Economic measures is based on
the effect of how the quantity demanded is changed when there is change in the price. With respect to
price it is the quantity demanded responsiveness degree. For example lets consider a case in the below
figure, where there is elastic demand when the curve is almost flat. You can see that, the quantity
decreases a lot if there is a change in price from $.75 to $1. There can be many reasons for this On the
off chance that demand is extremely inelastic, then vast changes in cost won t do particularly to the
amount requested. For example,

Evolution of Intermodal Transportation
With the global market becoming more connected and competitive, the United States supply chain
needs to constantly evolve to survive. Advancing technology and E Commerce allow customers to
order products from literally anywhere in the world, resulting in a sudden emergence of strong global
competition. To compete America needs to be able to provide the same goods faster and more efficient
that their competitors. However many improvements in every branch of the American transportation
supply chain including infrastructure and logistics need to be made in to achieve this. One practice
that is becoming more essential to compete in the growing global market is intermodal freight
transportation. Before the history and evolution of intermodal freight transportation can be discussed it
must first be defined. One article defines intermodal freight transportation as the use of two or more
modes to move a shipment from origin to destination (Dewitt and Clinger, n.d., p. 1). A prime example
of intermodal freight transportation in America is transfer of trailers and containers from container
ships to either trains or trucks. Goods are then typically transferred to trucks for the final delivery door
to door. Intermodal transport is not only trailer and container traffic, but also bulk goods like grain,
building products, and coal (Dewitt and Clinger, n.d.). In North America intermodal freight transport
benefits from the country s huge landmass which offers great potential

Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, the U.S. federal government took several actions both at home and

changes made in the U.S. dealt with the legal system, and the rights given to those charged with
serious crimes. Chief Justice Earl Warren, whose goal was to extend individual rights, led this
movement. Through a series of court cases Gideon v. Wainwright, Escobedo v. Illinois, Miranda v.

A Research Background On Social Network Services
3. Research Background
On April 15, 2013, two pressure cooker bombs exploded near the Boston Marathon finish line at
around 2:49 pm in a period of few seconds, killing three people and injuring three hundred people. On
April 18, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) identified the primary suspects, Tamerlan Tsarnaev
and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, and released their pictures and surveillance videos on the media. The first
suspect was reported to be killed in an encounter with the police. The second suspect was caught the
next day at 8:50 pm.
The announcement regarding this disaster was on social network services (SNS) in one minute after
the incident. In the span of five days from April 15 to April 19, there were many tweets exchanged
between people about the incident, their views on the situation, their anxiety, confusion and response
to different announcements from the Boston Police Department and other news media. There was a
huge number of tweets exchanged between users about the incident before the explosion and after.
This includes the tweets which gave real time information and information about tracking suspects to
the public. At the same time, it also lead to the diffusion of negative emotions among public.
Paul Ekman, who is an American Psychologist, found six emotions which are universal Sadness,
Anger, Fear, Happiness, Disgust and Surprise. In this study, we were focusing on the three negative
emotions Anger, Fear (Anxiety) and Sadness. (Wikipedia 15th April,

Essay on Pros and Cons of Raising the Minimum Wage
Pros and Cons of Raising the Minimum Wage When you picture a minimum wage worker, who do
you picture? Do you see a sixteen year old, a middle aged mother, a college graduate, or even a senior
citizen worker? In September of 2013, California governor Jerry Brown signed a new bill into act that
would cause the California minimum wage to rise from the current $8.00 and hour to $10.00 and hour
in increments over the next three years. The minimum wage rate will go up in two separate $1.00
boosts. The first will change the rate from $8.00 to $9.00 in July of 2014, and the second increase, to
$10.00, in January 2016. In this paper, I will discuss, compare, and weigh the pros and cons of the
minimum wage increase in California. Governor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These results, at least to myself, are not shocking but are helpful when looking at who this minimum
wage increase will be affecting. Once the minimum wage goes up will employers be able to
successfully employ the same amount of workers as when the minimum wage was lower or will they
be able to higher on new workers as they need them? This is one of the concerns of many in regards to
the minimum wage increase. In Sanja Blazevic s article, Is Employment Decreasing Due to Minimum
Wage Increase? , Sanja explains that many economists believe that a minimum wage increase causes
most age groups of minimum wage workers to suffer. This is caused by jobs becoming more scarce
after employers want to employ fewer people since they are being forced to pay them more than they
would prefer to. Young workers (25 29) seeking a job of a minimum wage could see unemployment
rise to close to 10% during a minimum wage hike (Blazevic) creating a significant unemployment
problem. Other age ranges saw similar but not as extreme level of unemployment with a higher
minimum wage. The only benefiting age range was that of those working for the minimum wage at
the age of 60 65. This benefiting group however cannot outweigh the majority of those who face
higher unemployment during a minimum wage hike. Sanja also brings up the fact that once the
minimum wage increases it will leave a smaller wage gap

Analyzing Eminem s Song Rap God
Rap God is a song by Eminem. The text type is therefore lyrics. The lyrics target the listeners of this
song. Considering the fact that the lyrics are in English and Eminem being an American artist, the
primary audience would be hip hop/rap listeners from the US aged 14 to 30. Since Eminem wrote this
song to mock other rappers, the other rappers would be the secondary audience. Because Eminem is
such a well known artist, his audience can be expanded. Therefore, global English speaking hip
hop/rap listeners are the tertiary audience. The purpose of this song is to show everybody that he is the

This is a metaphor. General Zod is a warlord of the planet Krypton in the Superman comics. General
Zod is a symbol for Eminem. He is basically telling people to kneel down before him because he is a
superhero. He continues the metaphor in the next line: So you be Thor and I ll be Odin, you rodent, I
m omnipotent. In Norse mythology Odin is a great person; he is almost comparable to God. Thor is
his son and therefore less powerful. This suggests that all the rappers can be good but he will always
be more superior. This sentiment is accentuated by the words rodent and omnipotent . All the rappers
are rodents. Rodents are mammals descendent from Rodentia such as mice and rats. Here it becomes
clear that Eminem looks down to the other rappers because is indirectly calling them rats. He himself
is omnipotent meaning he is the most powerful of all. In addition, when he raps this part of the song,
he puts emphasis on the syllable po (om ni PO tent) instead of om NI po tent. This makes the word
potent stand out, emphasizing his

The Yellow Wallpaper, By Charlotte Perkins Gilman And A...
Unaccustomed The short stories, The Yellow Wallpaper, written by Charlotte Perkins Gilman and A
Rose for Emily, written by William Faulkner, have a lot in common regarding the main characters.
Each narrative focuses on the lifestyle and behavior of a bizarre woman who has been kept away for a
certain period of time. One could argue that these women were not initially deranged, though
something must have occurred to send them on such a downward spiral. The main characters in each
account, Jane and Miss Emily, endure situations in their lives which prove to be crucial in the
development of their mental illness, and being isolated gradually causes their illness to escalate. Jane
and Miss Emily both face a monumental change in their lives, which results in the conclusion that
mental illness is the cause of their strange behavior. The women face profoundly different
catastrophes; however, each occurrence involves their families. In Charlotte Perkins Gilman s The
Yellow Wallpaper, during an exchange between John and Jane, John explains, I beg of you, for my
sake and for our child s sake, as well as for your own, that you will never for one instant let that idea
enter your mind! (Gilman 137). Jane gives birth to a little baby boy, which is when her life takes a turn
for the worse. Jane begins showing unusual, if not utterly insane, behavior, as well as depression and
anxiety, which is a result of her post partum depression. In William Faulkner s, A Rose for Emily, he

The Duel Between Charles Lee And John Laurens Have you ever been in a duel? Most likely not

Probably the most famous one was is the Burr/Hamilton duel, but there are others that helped push for
it a lot as well. One of which is the John Laurens and Charles Lee duel by the No Point Road. It left
one wounded, but keeping his stance on the matter. Before the duel between General Charles Lee and
Lieutenant Colonel John Laurens, most was peaceful between them. This peace lasted until General
Lee was Caught saying rude remarks and callings about George Washington. Considering Laurens
respect for Washington, it was obvious he wasn t going to just sit around. Once he figured out about it
he challenged Lee to a duel. Lee then accepted willingly. They chose and gathered their seconds and
prepared for the duel. On the date of the duel, John Laurens and his second, Alexander Hamilton and

Elite Power In Mass Media
The power elites have a striking influence in mass media and what type of information is given to the
public. The term power elite was coined by C. Mills as the authority in society. Studies have shown
the flow of bias information from elites to the masses and how these messages influence them. This
flow of influence not only has been seen in past history but we still are seeing it today in our so called
MacDonaldized society. Therefore, individuals should take caution when interpreting media,
specifically media related to politics and our society.
Mills defines manipulation as individuals not realizing they are being controlled. Therefore, they
believe they are acting on free will. Where he defines coercion being as one being forced to do
something they may not want to do. To give a better understanding of elite power and their use of
manipulation and coercion, one must look into what Mills described as the 3 levels of society. The
first being the elite authority, which has the most power in the society. Usually composed of men of
similar origin, education, career and style of life. The Second is the Middle level of power elite which
is thought of as Congress, parties, and conflict. interest groups (however their decisions ultimately rely
on the power elite). The last level is the masses, which compose of individuals such as ourselves. The
power elites work through the middle level to manipulate this level of society. This manipulation is
done by conglomerates, the high

How Is Holden Alienated In Catcher In The Rye
Alienation: it s a touchy subject for many. For some, it s second nature to alienate themselves. But, for
others, it s a concept foreign to their knowledge. In the book Perks of Being a Wallflower, main
character Charlie goes through multiple stages of self discovery all the while experiencing highschool

while trying to discover his true identity. Throughout both of the novels, the concept of alienation is

Charlie is the main character of Perks of Being a Wallflower, a book set in the early 1990s. Charlie
taps readers into his sixteen year old world, cueing us in on all the gritty details of his life. One aspect
of it, however, requires inquisition. Charlie is surrounded by people by friends and family yet is
alienated. Ironically, those who re his friends have also been alienated by society. He also is
unmotivated to do well socially, too. Charlie is seen to be very passive aggressive, letting others have
their way over his. He even lets himself deteriorate when he needs help. So, this is my life. And I want
you to know that I am both happy and sad and I m still trying to figure out how that could be, Charlie
says on page 11. This quote proves Charlie s feelings towards his own life, leaving one to assume his
alienation is society s fault. Why be motivated to fix your attitude when you will still be considered
abnormal by your peers. Furthermore, people in Charlie s life know he s different and aren t afraid to
remind him. You re a freak, you know that? You ve always been a freak. Everyone says so. They
always have, Charlie s sister tells him on page 12. This quote shows people s opinions on Charlie and
perpetuates the fact that he s alienated. Although, the reason for alienation is unknown and left for the
readers to discover themselves. Is it his growing unmotivation that was ultimately his downfall? Or

The Ultimate Dilemma During Car Shopping
The ultimate dilemma during car shopping: should I buy a new car or a used car? There are endless
variables when considering either option, however I am going to restrict this analysis to two factors:
the value and finance of new cars. I will conclude with an informed decision regarding the decision
whether to buy new over used, based on the data. New cars are known to depreciate once it leaves the
lot, meaning cars lose their value over time due to normal use and wear and tear. In fact, new vehicles
lose 20% of its value within the first year of ownership (Stefanac, 2014). To put that in perspective, a
$24,000, 2018 Hyundai Sonata will be valued at $19,200 just after the first year. Each subsequent year
the value drops until around year five, when the decrease is less significant (still depreciates through
its lifetime). A new car loses about 60% of its value within the first five years (Edmunds, 2010).
Looking at the 2018 Hyundai Sonata, it will only be worth approximately $9,600. If someone chose to
buy this vehicle used, it would be wise to purchase after the five year period so they are not hit by the
significant depreciation drop. It is also important to note that different vehicle s depreciation will drop
at different speeds for various reasons, for the purpose of this paper, we are looking at the average of
all vehicles. There are many factors that contribute to depreciation. Normal wear and tear are minor
imperfections that can be repaired or recovered in a

The Power Of Boarding Schools
Fulfilling god s plan, America forced Native Americans to attend boarding schools where the ideals of
Christianity were implemented. In Abigail Graham s article, The Power of Boarding Schools, a
History of Education professor at Indiana University writes that boarding schools is a tool used to
reinforce one s ideas into individuals. Graham writes, Boarding schools...significantly impact the
social development of their students; for this reason...schools used [this] as tools for reinforcing power
relationships and cultural identities. America s goal was to eliminate any existence of the Native s
culture by constantly embedding the values of being an American and being Christian inside the
school. The boarding school is completely new to the Natives, and having someone tell them what to
do was something unheard of. Within a school s system the students have the least authority, the
teacher is second in line, and the principal is the highest. The students were of Native American
descent, of course the teachers were white, and this demonstrates the power relationship with the
Native Americans and the Whites; the whites had more power than the other race. Children were
targets because if America were able to change the younger generation s ideals, than as they get older
their offsprings will be what America envisioned, a non Native American who has no knowing of their
culture. In Mary A. Stout book, Native American Boarding Schools, the author mentions that boarding

has face to face talks with their patients during their vist or stay at the hospitals. This shows that the

Flat Roofing
If you own a commercial property that has a flat roof, your options for a roofing material are limited.
However, other styles of architecture lend themselves to many of the same roofing materials used on

than you would use when choosing material for your home. Fortunately, it is not all that difficult to
choose the perfect material if you follow these helpful tips.

Light colors do a better job of reflecting the sun s light and heat; dark colors absorb more heat. A
white roof reflects the most heat, so it is the best choice for lowering your cooling costs.
( removed HTML ) Consider Avoiding Your Brand Colors ( removed HTML )
Speaking of colors, you might want to evaluate whether you really need to stick with your brand
colors. If your brand colors are red and turquoise, do you really want your building to be so
overwhelmingly extreme? Outlandish color schemes can make it harder to sell your property if you
need to move to another location, and the other property owners may feel that you are lowering the
value of their properties or negatively impacting the neighborhood s prestige. Many times, it is better
to choose a neutral color for your roof; save your brand colors for lettering or signs.
( removed HTML ) Avoid a Monotone Look ( removed HTML )
Trying to match the color of your roof to the color of your building is probably not the best of ideas.
First of all, a monochromatic look can be boring. Second, if you fail to match the color precisely, it
can be aesthetically displeasing. A difference of even a few shades can make the overall effect look a
bit tacky. Instead of attempting to match colors, choose complementary colors for better visual

Protect the Arctic Refuge Jimmy Carter s forward to Arctic National Wildlife Refuge: Seasons of life

should be protected by the government and the people of America. Carter supports his argument by
using imagery, historical evidence, and tone. First, Carter uses a description of the Arctic refuge to
prove that imagery supports his requests. The Arctic Refuge is described as As the never setting sun
circled above the horizon, we watched the muskox, those shaggy survivors of the Ice Age, lumer along
braided river that meander toward the Beaufort Sea. This displays the beauty, innocence, and calmness
of the refuge, proving that anything this beautiful should be defended. Carter s description affects the
audience by making them feel pity for all of the animals and the environment, knowing that its beauty
will be destroyed, urging the audience to change the refuge s fate. Thus, imagery perfectly

He states, It would be a grand triumph for America if we can preserve the Arctic Refuge in its pure,

to support. Carter feels concerned towards this cause and he wishes that everyone in America and the
government cares for it as well. If anyone loves a cause, idea, or image, they will do whatever it takes
to save and nourish it. This is exactly how Carter feels towards the Arctic Refuge and his writing
implements this into the audience by making the readers feel sorrowful, yet wanting to change the way
the Arctic Refuge is treated. Hence, Carter truly cares for the Arctic Refuge and wants the audience to

Biblical Interpretations Of Samson s Biblical Quotions
Biblical Quotations
Samson broke one of his three Nazirite vows: eating anything that is unclean, especially anything
associated with the corpse of an animal or human. His vows are brought up earlier in Judges 13 and
even earlier in Numbers 6: 6 8 and Samson breaks this vow in Judges 14: 5 9. This is where the
narrator is speaking and says starting in verse 8, he turned aside to see the carcass of the lion, and
there was a swarm of bees in the body of the lion, and honey. He scraped it out into his hands, eating
as he went (NRSV).
Samson seems to break another Nazirite vow in Judges 14: 10 11 when the narrator says, Samson s
father goes down to arrange for the marriage, and Same made a feast was was the custom for
weddings. The word feast in this context suggests a drinking fest the Nazirite vow says in Judges 13:4,
be careful not to drunk wine or strong drink and clarifies more in Number 6: 3 4.
Foreshadowing
In the TLB version, Samson s parents ask him right away in the beginning, Why must you go and get
a wife from these heathen Philistines? From experience, my parents seem to always be right, so after
reading that dialogue, I saw some foreshadowing to Samson s wife doing bad things.
When he is basing his riddle off of a story, the vocabulary and motifs foreshadow the ultimately
deadly encounter between Samson and the Philistines if I were to keep reading into chapter 15.
The riddle also tragically foreshadows his demise by revealing that

Jessie Pope was a journalist who wrote recruitment poems for the Daily Mail during the First World
War. The poems she did write were positive propaganda poems for the war; her objective was to
stimulate patriotism in the readers so that the men would join the forces. Pope wrote a persuasive
poem where she compared war to a game. This is illustrated in the title Who s for the game? It shows
that her attitude toward war was that it was a great big event that everyone should take part in one way
or another. The title is a short and punchy question inviting anyone to answer. This gives the wrong
impression of the war, it is misleading. Pope was ridiculed for doing this, but if she did write the ...

The second verse talks of patriotism, who ll give his country a hand in fighting against the enemy.
This was known as xenophobic or jingoistic poetry a very popular form of poetry at the time as
posters such as the Kitchener appeal and other poets were alongside this. This is again is in reference
to the cowardice of those who do not join in comparison with those willing to give their lives to their

  • 2. Introduction. Photosynthesis Is A Vital Process For The Introduction Photosynthesis is a vital process for the survival of all life on Earth. The byproduct of photosynthesis, oxygen, profoundly contributes to the formation of the protective ozone layer (Johnson, 2016). In addition to that, photosynthesis controls 99% of the Earth s ecosystem for every organism requires energy to fulfill their metabolism ( Overview of Photosynthesis , 2013). Besides providing essential energy and oxygen for living organisms, photosynthesis also plays an important role in the planet s environment by decreasing the atmospheric carbon dioxide (Singhal, Renger, Sopory, Irrgang, Govindjee, n.d.). In fact, photosynthesis annually reduces more than 10% of the total carbon dioxide in the air to chemical compounds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Inside the chloroplast are the disc shaped thylakoids, and the aqueous space called stroma ( Overview of Photosynthesis , 2013). Chlorophyll are embedded within the thylakoid membrane, and responsible for absorbing light ( Overview of Photosynthesis , 2013). Photosynthesis includes two distinct stages: the initial light dependent reaction in the thylakoid membrane, capturing solar energy and producing ATP and NADPH; and the consequential Calvin Cycle in the stroma, using ATP and NADPH to make carbohydrate ( Overview of Photosynthesis , 2013). A major component of photosynthesis is the absorption of light. Light is a form of electromagnetic radiation, and travels in waves ( Light and photosynthetic pigments , n.d.). The distance between the tops of one wave to the next wave is wavelength. In brief, the shorter wavelength indicates higher energy, and vice versa ( Light and photosynthetic pigments , n.d.). The electromagnetic spectrum visible to human eye includes wavelengths between 400 nm to 700 nm ( Light and photosynthetic pigments , n.d.). Red light has the longest wavelength, about 700 nm, therefore, carries the least energy; while violet is the shortest wavelength (400 nm) with the highest amount of energy ( Light and photosynthetic pigments , n.d.). The middle group ranging from low to high energy are orange, yellow, green, and blue, respectively ( Light and photosynthetic pigments , n.d.). The main photosynthetic pigments are ... • 3. Amylase Temperature Lab Report The Effect of different Temperatures on the reaction rate of Amylase Introduction: Amylases are enzymes that breaks down starch which accelerates the hydrolysis of glycosidic bonds in polysaccharides (S. Sivaramakrishnan et al., 2006). They bond with certain substrates to effectively increase the reaction rate of a chemical experiment. Most enzymes are very specific, as in they would only bond with a distinct substrate for it to cause a certain reaction. This can be described with the key and lock analogy. Only one type of key, certain amylase, will be able to open a particular lock, substrate. Without amylase, a lot of the organs necessary for people will no longer be able to react as fast, like the digestion of food or respiration. It speeds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. The Great Law Of Motion Of History Essay The struggle inherent in putting forward what is hailed as the great law of motion of history (The 18th Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte 14) rests in ensuring that one s purported application of that law is consistent with its abstract detailing. For example, in Karl Marx s theoretical works and historical writing specifically The 18th Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte the philosopher and revolutionary consistently describes the conditions under which men must operate for them to have a chance at restructuring their society and achieving emancipation. Marx illustrates across theory and practice how mankind, though limited in its autonomy by the existing societal order, has an opportunity to emancipate itself from the legal and political superstructure constructed independently of its will when sufficiently focused, energized and united. Hence how Marx pays enough heed to a particular, the ascent of Louis Napoleon, such that he can present it as reflective of a greater universal principle: historical materialism. After all, we [must] not judge of such a period of transformation by its own consciousness...this consciousness must be explained rather from the existing conflict between the social productive forces and the relations of production. (Marx on the History of His Opinions 5). Marx set out to detail, display and prove a universal law. Insofar as his consideration of emancipation and the conditions necessary for it constitute that law, he got at least two thirds of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The, The Roman Empire, And Councils Of The Early Church Arius, the Roman Empire, and Councils of the Early Church Christianity came to a crossroads during the fourth century. Previously, there had been gaps in Church teaching, and so some people began to fill those gaps. One of those people was Arius. Arius was born in 256 A.D. in Libya, but moved to Alexandria, Egypt and became a presbyter there. He began to teach about Jesus as a creature created by God the Father, and so therefore not God. This was seen by many early Christians as a possibility, as there had not previously been any official teaching set, and many of them started to follow Arius. Though the Church experienced some struggle with this heresy, in the end it was made stronger because it was forced to set theological beliefs. The Christian Church was advanced in the fourth century through struggles with the Arian heresy, a drastic change in the Roman Empire, and the combination of the Empire and Church to combat heresy. Arius teaching called to question multiple beliefs of Christians that had not yet been established. First, Arius taught that God the Father is one, singular God.1 He derived this principle from the beliefs of Judaism, from which Christianity was born. According to Arius, God has some qualities that only he can possess2, making him uniquely alone and unequal to any other thing. One of those qualities possessed by God is that he is ingenerate. This means that he had no beginning in time: he always was. He is also perfect, which brings ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Epidemiology Of Obesity Obesity is a leading preventable cause of death worldwide and its prevalence is increasing at an alarming rate (Barness et al, 2007). For thousands of years obesity was rarely seen, it was not until the 20th century that it became common, some much so that in 1997, the World Health Organization (WHO) formally recognized obesity as a global epidemic (Caballero, 2007). Overweight and obesity now affects at least 1.7 billion people. With the largest proportion in developing countries: In 2010, almost 2 billion people of the world s population are overweight (BMI between 25 and 29.9 kg/m2) and more than half a billion are obese (BMI 30 kg/m2). Using standard international criteria by 2015, the figure will be nearer 2.3 billion overweight and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The increased prevalence of obesity among high income groups in nonindusrialized countries may have changed as non indusrialized countries become more affluent and obesity becomes more prevalent in individuals who have low socioeconomic status (Monteiro et al., 2004). Egypt studied the prevelance of obesity and overweight among their populations and results were annoying. Salem et al. (2002) found that the prevalence of obesity among Egyptian children was 14.7% and 15.08% for male and female respectively. In United States of America (USA), the prevalence of obesity was 10% among children 2 to 5 years of age and 15% among adolescents. When children at risk for obesity (overweight) were included, the values increased to 20% and 30%, respectively. Therefore, 1 of every 4 patients examined by pediatricians either is obese or is considered to be at high risk for developing this challenging health problem (Ogden et al., ... Octavius, lead your battle softly on Upon the left hand of the even field. Octavius. Upon the right hand I. Keep thou the left. Antony. Why do you cross me in this exigent? Octavius. I do not cross you; but I will do so (1.2.85 9).Brutus is saying that he fears sooner than later that Caesar will become king and that is against the Roman republic. This would be something hard to do because even though most of the conspirator do like Caesar most of the Rome people do like him. What Shakespeare is trying to show the reader is that people s words have a lot of power or in this case Brutus word. What Brutus has to say about his reason to kill Caesar is what eventually leads to his downfall when he says, If then that friend demand why Brutus rose against Caesar, this is my answer: Not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more. Had you rather Caesar were living, and die all slaves, than that Caesar were dead, to live all freemen? As Caesar loved me, I weep for him; as he was fortunate, I rejoice at it; as he was valiant, I honor him; but as he was ambitious, I slew him (3.2.19 24). • 8. Prokaryotes Vs Eukaryotes The cell is the basic unit of life. Two groups are formed between living organisms, and those two groups are the eukaryotes and prokaryotes. Even though all organisms have the same characteristics of life, there are differences and similarities that are seen at the cellular level between prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Prokaryotes came into play around 3.5 billion years ago and then the eukaryotes evolved around 1.5 billion years ago. Prokaryotic cells only really refer to bacteria, while eukaryotic cells include animals, plants, protists, and fungi. The prokaryotes do not have a nucleus or any membrane covered organelles, but eukaryotes do. Instead, the prokaryotes have a nucleoid because they have a smaller, circular DNA genome, whereas eukaryotic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Progressive Era Of The United States George F. Will once said, The United States is a successful nation that is constantly susceptible to melancholy because things are not perfect. During the 1880 s to the 1920 s this statement seemed to be true about America but this sadness was not seen from the outside. The Progressive Era brought out these issues and made everyone aware of them. This era was a period in the United States that consisted of social activism and political reforms. The importance of this era was the passing of labor laws, anti trust laws, unionization for important industries and the introduction of four new amendments in the constitution. Children have been servants throughout human history. Employers were taking advantage of children by making them work very long days and work in dangerous conditions. Children laborers also lacked an education due to the long hours they worked. Children worked to help support families but yet got very little pay. Reformers and labor organizers wanted to restrict children labor and improve the working conditions. Most Americans would never agree, they wanted adults to run the work world and rather give any available job to an adult than a child. The education reformers battled the vast majority of America because of their opinions on child education. (I. Yellowitz) After a while, primary school education was a necessity. Participation trophies tend to make kids lazier. A lot of people say that kids don t have to try as hard to get an award, (3). That is said because kids, even if they aren t good at the sport, are treated as winners because as long as you tried and had fun, you won! Also in theory when kids grow up and go to college or to get a job, they will more than likely give up instead of trying harder, (4). That is because as kids, we are rewarded for just trying our hardest instead of for pushing past your previous limits to improve. That just helps to prove my point that we get too many trophies. Elasticity Of Demand And Supply Elasticity of Demand and Supply INTRODUCTION: Elasticity : In Economics, how responsive an economic variable is to a change in another is the measurement of elasticity. It is an unit free measure. By using Elasticities, we can measure the two markets of price and quantity. The difference among markets can be quantified by the economist using elasticities without the measurement of the units. It is the responsiveness of one variable (demand or supply) to a change in another (e.g. cost). This idea is basic to appreciating how advertises function. The most widely recognized versatilities utilized incorporate value flexibility of interest, value flexibility of supply, cross value flexibility of interest and pay flexibility of interest. The Equation of Elasticity is = % of change in quantity / % of change in price. Elasticity of Demand : Elasticity of Demand also referred to as Price Elasticity of Demand in Economic measures is based on the effect of how the quantity demanded is changed when there is change in the price. With respect to price it is the quantity demanded responsiveness degree. A prime example of intermodal freight transportation in America is transfer of trailers and containers from container ships to either trains or trucks. Once the minimum wage goes up will employers be able to successfully employ the same amount of workers as when the minimum wage was lower or will they be able to higher on new workers as they need them? This is one of the concerns of many in regards to the minimum wage increase. In Sanja Blazevic s article, Is Employment Decreasing Due to Minimum Wage Increase? , Sanja explains that many economists believe that a minimum wage increase causes most age groups of minimum wage workers to suffer. This is caused by jobs becoming more scarce after employers want to employ fewer people since they are being forced to pay them more than they would prefer to. Young workers (25 29) seeking a job of a minimum wage could see unemployment rise to close to 10% during a minimum wage hike (Blazevic) creating a significant unemployment problem. Other age ranges saw similar but not as extreme level of unemployment with a higher minimum wage. The only benefiting age range was that of those working for the minimum wage at the age of 60 65. This benefiting group however cannot outweigh the majority of those who face higher unemployment during a minimum wage hike. Unaccustomed The short stories, The Yellow Wallpaper, written by Charlotte Perkins Gilman and A Rose for Emily, written by William Faulkner, have a lot in common regarding the main characters. Each narrative focuses on the lifestyle and behavior of a bizarre woman who has been kept away for a certain period of time. One could argue that these women were not initially deranged, though something must have occurred to send them on such a downward spiral. The main characters in each account, Jane and Miss Emily, endure situations in their lives which prove to be crucial in the development of their mental illness, and being isolated gradually causes their illness to escalate. Jane and Miss Emily both face a monumental change in their lives, which results in the conclusion that mental illness is the cause of their strange behavior. The women face profoundly different catastrophes; however, each occurrence involves their families. New cars are known to depreciate once it leaves the lot, meaning cars lose their value over time due to normal use and wear and tear. In fact, new vehicles lose 20% of its value within the first year of ownership (Stefanac, 2014). To put that in perspective, a $24,000, 2018 Hyundai Sonata will be valued at $19,200 just after the first year. Each subsequent year the value drops until around year five, when the decrease is less significant (still depreciates through its lifetime). A new car loses about 60% of its value within the first five years (Edmunds, 2010). Looking at the 2018 Hyundai Sonata, it will only be worth approximately $9,600. If someone chose to buy this vehicle used, it would be wise to purchase after the five year period so they are not hit by the significant depreciation drop. It is also important to note that different vehicle s depreciation will drop at different speeds for various reasons, for the purpose of this paper, we are looking at the average of all vehicles. There are many factors that contribute to depreciation. Normal wear and tear are minor imperfections that can be repaired or recovered in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. The Power Of Boarding Schools Fulfilling god s plan, America forced Native Americans to attend boarding schools where the ideals of Christianity were implemented. In Abigail Graham s article, The Power of Boarding Schools, a History of Education professor at Indiana University writes that boarding schools is a tool used to reinforce one s ideas into individuals. Graham writes, Boarding schools...significantly impact the social development of their students; for this reason...schools used [this] as tools for reinforcing power relationships and cultural identities. America s goal was to eliminate any existence of the Native s culture by constantly embedding the values of being an American and being Christian inside the school. The boarding school is completely new to the Natives, and having someone tell them what to do was something unheard of. Within a school s system the students have the least authority, the teacher is second in line, and the principal is the highest. The students were of Native American descent, of course the teachers were white, and this demonstrates the power relationship with the Native Americans and the Whites; the whites had more power than the other race. Children were targets because if America were able to change the younger generation s ideals, than as they get older their offsprings will be what America envisioned, a non Native American who has no knowing of their culture. In Mary A. Stout book, Native American Boarding Schools, the author mentions that boarding schools ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Private sector = the part of the national economy that is not under direct government control. The two business I have chosen are NHS and Nike The NHS (National Health Service) is located in the public sector as it is financed and controlled by the government. The NHS is solely located in the United Kingdom, and provides free health care for the citizens of the United Kingdom. The governments point of view is just to fund and make the NHS sucure for the people of the UK. Another way to communicate to the national health care is through the staff striking. This is a means of communication by showing there needs to be a change for the staff at the hospital. The NHS also has face to face talks with their patients during their vist or stay at the hospitals. This shows that the staff also want to be looked after by the government via payment. The main stakeholder for Nike is the general public as they purchase the goods Nike produce and the public is the main source of revenue for that organization, the genral public also somehow sponser Nike by wearing their clothing brand , which is a need to get product. Another stakeholder for the organization are companies such as sports direct, as they purchase Nikes goods as they re competitors to other companies such as JD. Nike sells it s good internationally which means different countries will purchase their goods. Sport teams are also influenced in Nike as they sponsors Nikes brand, as Nike pay them to advertise their logo in varies ways. The local community would also be seen as a stakeholder depending on the response to Nike, positive or negative. The government is also affected due to business tax. • 35. Flat Roofing If you own a commercial property that has a flat roof, your options for a roofing material are limited. However, other styles of architecture lend themselves to many of the same roofing materials used on homes, but the material chosen for a commercial roof needs to be evaluated using different criteria than you would use when choosing material for your home. Fortunately, it is not all that difficult to choose the perfect material if you follow these helpful tips. ( removed HTML ) Choose a Material That Will Weather the Weather ( removed HTML ) The weather in Central Texas can be brutal. Hailstorms, strong winds, harsh sunlight and typical humidity levels can take a toll on your roofing material. Even if you love the wooden shakes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Light colors do a better job of reflecting the sun s light and heat; dark colors absorb more heat. A white roof reflects the most heat, so it is the best choice for lowering your cooling costs. ( removed HTML ) Consider Avoiding Your Brand Colors ( removed HTML ) Speaking of colors, you might want to evaluate whether you really need to stick with your brand colors. If your brand colors are red and turquoise, do you really want your building to be so overwhelmingly extreme? Outlandish color schemes can make it harder to sell your property if you need to move to another location, and the other property owners may feel that you are lowering the value of their properties or negatively impacting the neighborhood s prestige. Many times, it is better to choose a neutral color for your roof; save your brand colors for lettering or signs. ( removed HTML ) Avoid a Monotone Look ( removed HTML ) Trying to match the color of your roof to the color of your building is probably not the best of ideas. First of all, a monochromatic look can be boring. Second, if you fail to match the color precisely, it can be aesthetically displeasing. A difference of even a few shades can make the overall effect look a bit tacky. Instead of attempting to match colors, choose complementary colors for better visual ... • 36. Arctic Wildlife Refuge Protect the Arctic Refuge Jimmy Carter s forward to Arctic National Wildlife Refuge: Seasons of life and Land, A Photographic Journey by Subhankar Banerjee asserts that the Arctic Wildlife Refuge should be protected by the government and the people of America. Carter supports his argument by using imagery, historical evidence, and tone. First, Carter uses a description of the Arctic refuge to prove that imagery supports his requests. The Arctic Refuge is described as As the never setting sun circled above the horizon, we watched the muskox, those shaggy survivors of the Ice Age, lumer along braided river that meander toward the Beaufort Sea. This displays the beauty, innocence, and calmness of the refuge, proving that anything this beautiful should be defended. Carter s description affects the audience by making them feel pity for all of the animals and the environment, knowing that its beauty will be destroyed, urging the audience to change the refuge s fate. Thus, imagery perfectly demonstrates how important the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He states, It would be a grand triumph for America if we can preserve the Arctic Refuge in its pure, untampered state. To leave this extraordinary land alone would be the greatest gift we could pass onto future generations. This final explanation in Carter s work confirms the claim that he has been trying to support. Carter feels concerned towards this cause and he wishes that everyone in America and the government cares for it as well. If anyone loves a cause, idea, or image, they will do whatever it takes to save and nourish it. This is exactly how Carter feels towards the Arctic Refuge and his writing implements this into the audience by making the readers feel sorrowful, yet wanting to change the way the Arctic Refuge is treated. • 37. Biblical Interpretations Of Samson s Biblical Quotions Biblical Quotations Samson broke one of his three Nazirite vows: eating anything that is unclean, especially anything associated with the corpse of an animal or human. His vows are brought up earlier in Judges 13 and even earlier in Numbers 6: 6 8 and Samson breaks this vow in Judges 14: 5 9. This is where the narrator is speaking and says starting in verse 8, he turned aside to see the carcass of the lion, and there was a swarm of bees in the body of the lion, and honey. He scraped it out into his hands, eating as he went (NRSV). Samson seems to break another Nazirite vow in Judges 14: 10 11 when the narrator says, Samson s father goes down to arrange for the marriage, and Same made a feast was was the custom for weddings. The word feast in this context suggests a drinking fest the Nazirite vow says in Judges 13:4, be careful not to drunk wine or strong drink and clarifies more in Number 6: 3 4. Foreshadowing In the TLB version, Samson s parents ask him right away in the beginning, Why must you go and get a wife from these heathen Philistines? From experience, my parents seem to always be right, so after reading that dialogue, I saw some foreshadowing to Samson s wife doing bad things. When he is basing his riddle off of a story, the vocabulary and motifs foreshadow the ultimately deadly encounter between Samson and the Philistines if I were to keep reading into chapter 15. The riddle also tragically foreshadows his demise by revealing that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Jessie Pope s Attitude toward War in the Poem Who s For... Jessie Pope was a journalist who wrote recruitment poems for the Daily Mail during the First World War. The poems she did write were positive propaganda poems for the war; her objective was to stimulate patriotism in the readers so that the men would join the forces. Pope wrote a persuasive poem where she compared war to a game. This is illustrated in the title Who s for the game? It shows that her attitude toward war was that it was a great big event that everyone should take part in one way or another. The title is a short and punchy question inviting anyone to answer. This gives the wrong impression of the war, it is misleading. Pope was ridiculed for doing this, but if she did write the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The final line: And who thinks he d rather sit tight? In other words she is asking who would rather be a coward and not do anything the purpose of this line is to evoke quilt within the men so when it comes to making the decision the questions will linger in their minds. The quilt trip was not uncommon at this time and was a useful strategy of putting them in awkward positions felling embarrassed if they do choose not to fight but stay at home taking the easy route. This corresponds with poetry such as For the Fallen by Laurence Binyon. The second verse talks of patriotism, who ll give his country a hand in fighting against the enemy. This was known as xenophobic or jingoistic poetry a very popular form of poetry at the time as posters such as the Kitchener appeal and other poets were alongside this.
