Political Beginnings Essay
The early political beginnings of United States of America were quite rocky. During this time, politics
became an ever growing issue. People were concerned about their wellbeing and whether or not the
government was treating them fairly. This growing concern caused for groups of like minded people to
band together for a common cause and create political factions. These factions grew to be our present
day political parties. It was due to the ratification of the National Bank, The Whisky Rebellion, The
Alien and Sedition Acts, and Jay s Treaty that took place between the eras of Washington, Adams, and
Jefferson, that allowed for the Federalist and Democratic Republican parties to emerge and assert their
differences in early America. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ratification of the National Bank widened the gap between Federalists and Republicans. Even
though Washington strictly stated that the United States must be a faction less nation, Parties
developed nonetheless. (Dawson, XIV)
The 1794 Whisky Rebellion proved to be a turning point in American politics. In 1794, due to civilian
anger towards a skyrocketing twenty five percent tax on whiskey, one hundred Pennsylvanian farmers
banded together to protest the tax. The protesters attacked a U.S. marshal that summoned sixty people
that failed to pay the tax to appear in court at Philadelphia. In response to this protest, Washington
proclaimed that citizens who resorted to violent forms of protest would face harsh federal authority.
Washington s attack against civilian misconduct showed that the federal government had the strength
to enforce its law. This reaction attracted supporters to the federalist cause. This assertion strengthened
the view of an aristocratic, elite, government and that the common people were unfit to be a part of the
government and that a select few should be in command. Washington s quickness to impose strong
federal power exemplifies the federalist ideals.
The 1800 s election of Jefferson marked the era of the Democratic Republican. Upon Election,
Jefferson demanded dramatic cutbacks to government expenditures, loosening the Judicial branch, a

Essay on Business Research for Decision Making
Business Research for Decision Making
The work of decision making involves choosing between issues that require attention, setting goals,
designing suitable courses of action and choosing among several alternatives through the evaluation of
each one of the alternatives. Of great importance in decision making is the choosing between the
several alternatives. The effectiveness of this work of decision making is of great importance for the
well being of every business activity and determines the success of every business (Kay Miranda). In
the business setup, decisions that can be made could include product improvement, choice of an
investment plan, business expansion and areas of improvement. For business leaders and thus the

The first assesses the degree to which repeated researches yield the same results; the second is based
on the stability of measurements over time while the third is based on the similarity of measurements
within a given period of time. On the other hand, Joppe (2000) suggested that a valid research is one
that truly measures what it was intended to measure. In other words, a valid research is one that
provides true results.
Quantitative research involves the use of experimental and quantitative measures to test general
hypotheses (Hoepfl, 1997). Golafshani (2003) suggested that quantitative research is based on the
measurement and the analysis of the causal relationship between variables. Through quantitative
research, the researcher is familiarized with the concept to be studied and generates the hypothesis to
be tested. As such, the mathematical process takes the norm for analyzing the numeric data and the
information gathered takes a numeric form that can be quantified and summarized. Moreover,
according to Charles (1995), the final result of the quantitative research is usually expressed in
statistical terminologies. Another aspect of quantitative research, as seen from Golafshani (2003), is
that it emphasizes on the facts and causal. Therefore, a qualitative researcher should construct an
instrument, standardize it and administer it according to predetermined procedures. However, the
concern, according to Golafshani (2003), is on its

Cons And Cone Cones Analysis
The visual system contains two types of photoreceptors, the rods and the cones. These two receptors
are easily distinguishable from one another based on their individual shapes, which also gives them
their names. They also differ in the type of photopigments they each contain, in the way they are
diffused across the retina, and by the variances between their synaptic associations (Purves,
Augustine, Fitzpatrick, Katz, LaMantia, McNamara Williams, 2001). Rods are found in the periphery
of the eye and react to faint light, for example black and white, which allows the visual system to
process twilight vision. Cones, on the other hand, are located primarily in the fovea and they respond
to brighter lights, allowing for the ability to see things in color and are accountable for daylight vision.

The rods, in contrast, are all identical to one another (Purves et al., 2001). At the lower intensities of
light, only the rods are activated. However, as the amount of light entering the eye increases, so does
the activity of the cones, ultimately influencing what an individual can see (Purves et al., 2001).
Photopigments, which are found in both rods and cones within the retina, respond to light through a
chemical process that releases energy. In order to detect varying levels of light, photopigments consist
of 11 cis retinal (a derivative of vitamin A) bound to proteins called opsins, which modify the
photopigments sensitivity to different wavelengths of light. Light converts 11 cis retinal to all trans
retinal, thus releasing energy that activates second messengers within the cell (Kalat, 2013, p. 159).
The photopigments are responsible for initiating the first steps of communication within visual system
when levels of light are first

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Rainwater Harvesting
INTRODUCTION
It is widely known that water covers up to 70% of our planet s surface. However, we have never been
able to have enough fresh water to meet our demands. Up until now, 1.1 billion people worldwide still
lack the access to usable water sources and a total of 2.7 billion find water scarce for at least one
month of the year. (WWF) Even in a centralized industry area, the main water supply system
sometimes not able to meet the demand.
Water crisis is now a global problem. Since the 1950s till this present date the population of world has
increased into double. The use of water is increasing but the sources are constant for safe water. The
world is facing an overall of deficit of fresh water. Therefore, the need to find an additional water
resource is inevitable.

ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF THE PROJECT
In times of such crisis today, rainwater harvest is indeed a blessing. However, there is no perfect
solution for a reality problem.
Below we are going to highlight some advantage and disadvantages of rainwater harvesting.
Advantage
1. Rain water harvest relieves pressure on other water sources. In a small community such in rural or
mountain area, rainwater supply can co exist with other sources and can act as a supplement to them.
(CEF, 2013)
2. Safe, drinkable reserved rainwater can be the solution when there is a calamity or an outbreak of
safe water. It can help us prevent many diseases and epidemic to spread wide during water crises due
to the use of unclean, contaminated water.
3. Storing excess rain water during rainy season can help reduce the possibility of. Drainage overload
can also be prevented by keeping drinkable fresh water from the rainwater. Furthermore, water from
flood can also be well taken care of and utilized by the rain harvesting system.(GDRC, 2015)
4. It can help reduce soil erosion during rainy

Pros And Cons Of The Railway Labor Act
1. The Railway Labor Act is a law enacted by the federal government to ensure that key movement of
goods and services are not interrupted by worker / employer labor disputes. It would keep the flow of
goods and services going by ensuring that instead of strikes there would be arbitration and mediation
to resolve any labor disputes. The Railway Labor Act can strike only over major issues but only after
they have exhausted the arbitration and mediation process or the federal court could involve
themselves under the Norris LaGuardia Act. If the workers did strike they would not lose their jobs or
positions but the employer could replace them with temporary workers. 5 general purposes of the

The Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS), was created under the Labor Management
Relations Act, to provide mediation services to all industry, community and government agencies.
Their main responsibility is to mediate labor disputes all around the country. They work to settle labor
disputes between unions and employers that could affect interstate commerce. The FMCS provides
natural arbitration which allows both side to present its case then the arbitrator decides the outcome.
They work with organizations in alternative dispute resolution techniques to allow workers and
employers to discuss problems. 6. Trade treaties are intended to increase the flow of goods and
services between markets while giving better access to those market in different countries. It can

How Does Tom React To Gatsby s Death
4. When Myrtle is killed and someone sees it s a yellow car that killed her, Tom gets a bit nervous
(and puts himself above his grief for a while to appease his selfishness). He grabs Wilson and tells him
that the yellow car wasn t Tom s. Later, Nick reports that Wilson announced that he had a way of
finding out who the yellow car belonged to. Tom said Wilson was crazy enough to kill me if I hadn t
told him who owned the car. and they eventually find out it was Gatsby 5. Nick likes and admires
Gatsby throughout the novel. He at one point says that Gatsby is worth more than all of the other
characters in his narrative put together. He simply feels that Gatsby deserves a strong showing at the
funeral. Nick also believes he sees something in Gatsby that others don t. Psychologically, particularly
if we recognize that Nick is an unreliable narrator, this gives Nick a feeling of superiority. He alone
recognizes Gatsby s worth. He comes off as a better person because he gives Gatsby the worth and ...

Gatsby s father arrives to attend Gatsby s funeral. His character serves several functions. First of all,
we learn what Gatsby was like as a boy. Mr. Gatz shows the notes that the young James Gatz wrote in
his Hopalong Cassidy book, and we learn that Gatsby had big dreams very early and was driven to
achieve: He was bound to get ahead. 7. When Gatsby was alive, he would throw huge, lavish parties.
Many people were more than willing to visit Gatsby when they could enjoy themselves (literally at his
expense), but in death he is basically abandoned.Gatsby himself was determined to be popular and to
be seen; after his death, few people seem to care about him.Although Gatsby had spent most of his life
trying to put his past behind him and had even changed his name from the name ( Gatz ) he had at
birth, in the end his father is one of only two people present who had been close to him. Even Nick

Great Prosperity and Growth in America s 1920 s
The 1920 s in America was a time of great prosperity and growth. Industries were booming, cities
were growing, and people were changing. Americans were forgetting the old traditions and values that
they used to live by. Americans were viewing and following new entertainments. Sports were one of
these entertainments. Amateur and professional athlete s performance in their own sport was key to
the growth of athletics in the 1920 s, because they changed the American attitude towards sports,
created legends, and increased popularity. The culture in the 1920 s was full of prosperity throughout
America. WWII had concluded and people were glad it was over. Americans lived for the moment and
forgot about the past. Industries were growing with the great expansion of the economy. Across the
country, new stadiums were being constructed. College and professional team were building new
athletic facilities. Stanford, Ohio State, Illinois, Michigan, Alabama, Washington State, Missouri,
Purdue and Texas A M were some of the colleges that got stadiums built. These stadiums were bigger
than older stadiums and they had more seats for fans. Americans had more time on their hands during
the 1920 s. People were participating and watching sports like never before. Sports had become a
much popular activity during this time. With this growth, businesses such as the radio and newspaper
business grew. Radio and newspaper companies wanted to keep Americans in tune with sports and

Essay on Langston Hughes The Weary Blues
Langston Hughes The Weary Blues
Jazz music is often associated with long, lazy melodies and ornate rhythmical patterns. The Blues, a
type of jazz, also follows this similar style. Langston Hughes poem, The Weary Blues, is no exception.
The sound qualities that make up Hughes work are intricate, yet quite apparent. Hughes use of
consonance, assonance, onomatopoeia, and rhyme in The Weary Blues gives the poem a deep feeling
of sorrow while, at the same time, allows the reader to feel as if he or she is actually listening to the
blues sung by the poem s character.
The Blues musical move was prominent during the 1920s and 30s, a time known as the Harlem
Renaissance. Blues music characteristically told the story of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net
...
Another place that consonance is apparent is in line 5, ?pale, dull pallor of an old gas light. The sticky
l sounds are difficult to produce off of the tongue quickly; therefore, these words slow the poem down.
This is typical of the blues. The slow sounds of blues music are incorporated in the words of this
poem. It seems as if the words with the l sounds get extra emphasis, as well, because they are so
difficult to pronounce. Added strength through word sounds helps boost the poem s glumness.
Line 10 is another excellent example of consonance in The Weary Blues. The m and p sounds of He
made that poor piano moan with melody give the poem a juxtaposition of warm sounds from the m to
aggressive tones with the sharp p. This is a nice element as it is characteristic of blues music, as well.
Usually there are some elements of comfort and disdain within the blues. The contrast of the m and p
sounds highlights this very well.
There is a great amount of assonance in The Weary Blues. The first example of assonance comes right
away in the poem. Line 1 opens with the long o sound in Droning a drowsy syncopated tune and
continues with Rocking back and forth to a mellow croon in line 2. This long o sound is representative
of the forlorn blues aforementioned. The long o is repeated throughout the poem, for example in line

This gives him the idea that a pistol report can be heard at a great distance (264). The something could

Zeffirelli s Hamlet Movie Comparison
Comparison of Set Designs of Hamlet Film Adaptations During the many years since the production
of William Shakespeare s Hamlet, there has been a considerable amount of film adaptations that
recreate the well known tragedy. They vary in terms of the way it is portrayed by the director, how
successful the actors are able to recreate the emotions, staging, music, design, and all factors of movie
production. The play was well interpreted in both the film adaptations of 1996, directed by Kenneth
Branagh and the one directed by Franco Zeffirelli, in 1990. However, I preferred Branagh s adaptation
in terms of set design, then the Zeffirelli s version for various reasons.

Techniques With Language, The Cut Up Method And Permutation
Brion Gysin created two techniques with language, the cut up method and permutation. The cut up
method involves cutting up a page into four sections, rearrange said sections and then read the
product. The rearrangement of the sections in opposing places extracts new meaning to the text, an
outlook that could not be generated from a logical standpoint. A new found sense of surrealism is
discovered in something already familiar to us.
Surrealist artists of the era were advocating for an art of the unconscious mind. It is by my affirmation
that Brion Gysin s intention behind creating The Cut Up Method was to show language could be used
like a tool to extract new meaning, depending on an individual s subconscious.

Oil And Natural Gas Deep Under The Surface Of The Earth...
Discussion point 1: In order to explore for oil and natural gas deep under the surface of the earth
Chevron uses seismic technology. Oil and Natural gas are mostly found in reservoir rocks. In order to
find the reservoirs Chevron employs seismic technology by sending the sound waves deep inside the
earth and using geophones listening to the bounced back waves. Geophones are devices, which are
used as electronic ears, which records the signal when the sound comes back from earth. The sound
bounced back and signal looks like a squiggle. When numerous squiggles are placed serially inline.
We can see the structures, which have a slice or cross section of the earth. And after collecting the
seismic data geologists, data engineers work on interpreting the seismic data to find the formations
and structures, which holds oil and natural gas reservoirs. And finally field team will drill the specific
locations according to the geologists report. Chevron has 50 percent success rate in finding the oil and
natural gas using seismic technology.

An Analysis Of The Occupation Of Artist Management
An Analysis of the Occupation of Artist Management

An Analysis of the Occupation of Artist Management
Successful artists within the music industry tend to have a whole team of people behind them to
handle anything from booking gigs and handling public relations to arguing contracts and keeping
them on their daily schedule. Sometimes this team is hand chosen by the artist, while other times the
artist may sign to a record label and be asked to sign a 360 Deal, basically giving the record label
control of those connections. From agents, to publicists, to assistants and lawyers, the team is made up

For example, a manager could spend one day negotiating a contract between the artist and a brand
they endorse, and could be advising on the wardrobe the artist is wearing the next. All of this is due to
the fact that the manager is essentially in charge of the artist s career. It is their duty to view the artist
as a brand for which they must market and sell to the primary target market that is the world of music.
However, although many times the duties of a manager can stretch far and wide across the artist s
career they are sometimes limited to specific tasks. In many instances, a manager may be given
specific duties pertaining solely to the role of a business manager. It all varies with the needs of the
artist and what they are hoping to achieve in hiring their manager. Some artists even decide to manage
themselves and forgo even hiring a manager. Ultimately, however, it is truly an easier method for an
artist to hire a manager as the business side can often be taxing and confusing with endless business
details and minor nuances that take away effort the artist can be using to better themselves as a
performer. Also, a manager already has a grasp on the business world and likely already has a series of
connections that would be beneficial to the artist s business and performing career. To be successful,
the two parties must form a relationship with mutual understanding. The relationship is somewhat
symbiotic in the fact that

Review Of Bring Back The Autopsy By Sandeep Jauhar
Fifty years ago doctors performed autopsies on roughly half the patients who died in hospital and
today the number has dwindled to less than 10 percent. However, there is growing number of
diagnostic errors and it s contributing to some 10 percent of patient deaths. Therefore, an autopsy is
necessary to reduce misdiagnoses and can be used as an initial step preventive action. The essay Bring
Back the Autopsy by Sandeep Jauhar was mostly well written because the flow of this essay was not
correct, and the description that the writer gave lacks in detail. The title of this essay is making the
reader quickly capture what will be discussed in the essay. The title of this essay is Bring Back the

the reader immediately understands that the author wants to restore faded autopsy. In addition of this
title, make the reader want to read more and feel obviously that has a purpose to put forward the
author. The purpose of this essay is also very clear. By reading the title, the reader can immediately
understand what the purpose of this essay was. At the end of paragraph 1, the author wrote the purpose
of the autopsy was to find out. In paragraph 2 also appears there from the author that the activities of
the autopsy are no longer seen as something important. Fifty years ago we performed autopsies on

Trickster In Othello
The Trickster in Two Cultures Across many cultural stories and myths clear character archetypes
emerge. One such archetype is the trickster. They are often characterized by playing pranks and
manipulating the people around him. Two specific examples of the trickster are Iago in Othello and
Loki from Norse mythology. In their respective stories these two characters are astonishingly similar.
There are of course some differences between two, but the similarities they have allow for clear
correlations to be drawn. This could have implication of cultural sharing between England and Norse
countries. Both Iago and Loki are strikingly similar in their roles as the trickster. Iago as a character is
both manipulative and malicious. In Othello Iago ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both in Norse culture and Elizabethan England, honesty and integrity were very important keystones
for the role of a man. Men in Norse cultures were fighters and protectors without their honor or
integrity they wouldn t be respected. The same applied to the English though in a less violent way.
Iago and Loki, then, symbolize the antithesis of these ideals. Instead of honesty and integrity they lie
to their friends and demean women. Their place as foils to Othello and Thor leave them without any
character beyond their negative traits. For a play written by Shakespeare this is odd, as most
characters have ample development possesing both vices and virtues. Iago is more like the Norse
depiction of Loki, a being of evil and mischief, than one of Shakespeare s characters. This could be an
indication that either Shakespeare took inspiration from the Norse people or that the same values
existed in England at the time. The duo could have similar cultural origins in addition to the litany of

I know several people who would fit this description, they write to figure out what they want to say. I
on the other hand, have to know want picture I want to paint for the reader before I begin to write.
Last semester, I had the opportunity to do some creative writing for the first time; the writing would
flow smoothly when I had a clear idea of what I want to convey or become stunted when I lost sight of
what I meant to express. Although, I can observe the benefits of both styles of writing, I personally
relate to the Orwellian (purpose driven) type of writing for that reason. ... Show more content on

Critically evaluate the Asia Pacific Economic Co operation (APEC) forum s attempts to enhance
regional economic integration in the Asia Pacific.
The Asia Pacific Economic Co operation (APEC) was created in 1989 as a regional discussion forum
for fostering closer economic relations within the region through inter governmental consultations and
other non binding mechanisms. (Dent, 2007:449). To a large extent the forum echoed many decades of
proceeding ideas and initiatives on Pacific regional community building. (Dent, 2008:120). One factor
in APEC s formation arose from the situation at the end of the Cold War whereby there was a growing
market driven economic interdependence which created fresh opportunities for regionalism. ... Show

The view of Western governments, voiced by Fred Bergsten , saw this non discriminatory free trade
principle as being undesirable as it did not enable APEC any leverage in global trade negotiations,
opting instead for more definitive commitments. Whereas East Asian governments advocated in
favour of a less radical approach, one that had more flexibility both in terms of what was implied by
trade and investment liberalisation and the means by which it was to be realised. (Dent, 2008:126).
Given this widely divergent starting point of APEC economies it was subsequently agreed at the
Osaka APEC summit in 1995 that a new modus operandi of concerted unilateralism would be adopted.
The Bogor targets of free trade by 2010/20 instead would be accomplished through transparent
iterations of nationally based Individual Action Plans (IAPs) . This new scheme ultimately relied on
moral persuasion rather than binding contractual obligation and furthermore there was very little
pressure upon APEC member states to make substantive progress with their IAP schemes (Dent,
2007:450) which subsequently resulted in a massively underwhelming commitment amounting to little
more than an oxymoronic commitment to work together by working

Ghislain Magritte Essay
Rene Francois Ghislain Magritte was born November 21, 1898 in Lessines, in the province of
Hainaut, Belgium, he was the oldest child and his father was a wealthy manufacturer. In 1910 at age

Comparing Heart Of Darkness And Joseph Conrad s Heart Of...
The early 1900 s novella, Heart of Darkness, written by Joseph Conrad follows the journey of a man
named Charlie Marlow. Apocalypse Now, a 1970 s movie directed by Francis Ford Coppola follows
the mission of a man named Captain Benjamin L. Willard. Apocalypse Now filmed nearly 80 years
after the initial publication of the novella was created as a film adaptation of the book. The movie
changes many elements from the novella, but keeps the basic outline and a few characters the same.
Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now have many similar aspects while still being their own separate
pieces, by comparing the journey within both works, analyzing the characters, and understanding their
different interpretations of darkness the relationship between these two works can truly be seen. In
Heart of Darkness Marlow is sitting on a boat, the Nellie, and tells the story of his journey through
Africa s Congo to his fellow seamen. Marlow starts his story with his childhood, during which he had
a great passion for maps and the blank spaces on earth. There was one... the biggest, the most blank,
so to speak that I had a hankering after... by this time it was not a blank space any more. (Conrad 13).
This is Marlow s opening remark about why he wanted to travel around Africa. With help from his
Aunt, Marlow gets a position as skipper of a river steamboat, which allows him to travel the snake like
river he has been eyeing up since his childhood. Eventually Marlow travels up the

Lord of the Flies Comparative Analysis
Lord of the Flies Comparative Analysis Angela Boui Throughout the book Lord of the Flies several
different universal themes occurred. Not just in this book but in movies and TV shows as well. The
different themes all show morals surrounding situations both good and bad. One main theme that is
present is how people abuse power when it is not earned. This happens because people crave power
and they want to be in control. In the following paragraphs, different themes will be linked with the
book Lord of the Flies and similar movies and TV shows such as the Walking Dead and the book Miss
Peregrine s Home for Peculiar Children . Themes throughout the book Lord of the Flies also interpret
the same meaning as in the television ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second quote from Lord of the Flies is when Jack said to Piggy You would, would you? Fatty!
Jack had said this in a vicious and humiliating way because he wanted Piggy to feel left out and very
discouraged. The same thing happened in the book Miss Peregrine s Home for Peculiar Children
because Jacob had been an outcast ever since he had seen that horrible beast like thing. His friends had
started calling him crazy only to make themselves feel better and to put Jacob down. The last theme
that occurred in both books was that society holds everyone together. In Lord of the Flies, the Island
had been their society. The quote that shows how society is falling apart is The world, that
understandable and lawful world, was slipping away. The same meaning is also present in Miss
Peregrine s Home for Peculiar Children. When Jacob left his home in Florida, he had lost all signs of
society. He had shut out all rules and went to a different time zone. His world was overrun with
monsters. With all the different themes happening inside the book Lord of the Flies we are able to link
them to other movies and TV shows. The different themes show how any movie or TV show can have
similar themes but can have a very diverse background. In conclusion, the themes of the book Lord of
the Flies have shown similar relations to The Walking Dead TV series and the book Miss Peregrine s
Home for Peculiar Children . They have all shown

Savage Inequalities By Jonathan Kozol
In Savage Inequalities, Jonathan Kozol documents the troubling inequalities within American public
school systems and their various districts. Thus focusing on the savage inequalities between highly
privileged districts and poor districts within these public school systems. From the time period of 1988
to 1990, Jonathan Kozol visited various public schools in multiple neighborhoods, including East St.
Louis, the Bronx, Chicago, Harlem, Jersey City, and San Antonio. Throughout the chapters, Kozol
describes horrendous conditions within these schools and questions the students, faculty, and staff
members regarding their reflection of the current school s maintenance, teachers salary and
availability, and student s deteriorating curriculum. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fear of the deteriorating value of education materials to support the appropriate grade levels, white
families flee the public school system to magnet or private school for higher enrichment. Meanwhile,
suburban legislators and Governor Thompson agree that we can t keep throwing money into a black
hole (Kozol, 1988, p. 53). Ultimately, the education at public schools were thrown aside at the cost of
enriching the lives of students in affluent schools. Within the two districts I researched, Dallas ISD
and Highland Park ISD, I found that the gathered median income from Highland Park is four times
that of Dallas ISD. Because of this, Dallas ISD students are forced to rely on the limited sources of
educational materials which are reflected by the substantially different median income compared to
Highland ISD. Additionally, racial divide amongst the two ISD s is astonishing. In Dallas ISD s only
5.1% of the student body is identified as white but Highland Park is 85.8%. Meanwhile, the other
ethnicities for the two school districts have the percentages swapped. Having Highland ISD s black,
Latino/Hispanic, Asian, or Pacific ethnicities just below the 15% margin and Dallas ISD s non white
ethnicities soaring above 94%, the clear distinction of racial inequality among these two districts are
evident. Comparing these percentages aligns to Kozol s evaluation of white overpopulation in affluent
schools within different districts such as Highland ISD.

Suffering In The Book The Orchards By Holly Thompson
The book, Orchards by Holly Thompson, captures the responses from the characters in the book when
devastation comes upon them. Orchards shows how people respond to suffering and how they try to
cope with it. Kana, the main character, has to deal with the deaths of her two classmates. Kana and her
family personally know both of these girls, so they are suffering the most. The grief of Kana s
community ties them together and allows their bond to grow stronger. People outside the community
blame Kana and the other eighth grade girls, making her very frustrated. She instead blames others to
make her feel better, but that changes. This reaction shows the reader that Kana is a very impulsive
character. The author writes, but that she had to comfort Emi... take Emi to meet with counselors...that
Gina s father had assembled... at the community center... for girls, siblings, friends, parents anyone in

and continue life. Kana wasn t the only one suffering, the community was suffering. At this point, her
grandmother gives a piece of wise words to Kana and forces her to get up. She is then allowed to

Because of Ruth s and Lisa s suffering, Kana also suffers and so does the community. She uses her
pain and creates a memorial for the community. This allows Kana and community to change and

Why Shouldn T The Gold Standard Be Legalized
The one item that people obsess about day in and day out is money. Our currency runs the world and
the choices we make. However, before the standard federal reserve notes, gold was used in exchange
for goods. The gold standard was created, but then it was abandoned; it is still debated today whether
or not the gold standard will ever return. The gold standard was created to standardize transactions in
the trade market. According to econlib.org, The United States...switched to gold de facto [a gold
standard adopted by England] in 1834...when Congress passed the Gold Standard Act. This new
money method, which guaranteed that the government would redeem any amount of paper money for
its value in gold, allowed for people to purchase items without carrying around loads of gold coins.

However, the Federal Reserve did not have much time to begin its work because World War I
commenced, suspending the gold standard. Countries printed more money to pay for military
necessities, and this excessive printing caused hyperinflation. After the war, most countries returned to
the gold standard in order to maintain the value of gold. And then the unthinkable happened: the stock
market crashed. Countries abandoned the gold standard once again. According to thebalance.com, The
Federal Reserve kept raising interest rates. It was trying to make dollars more valuable and dissuade
people from further depleting the U.S. gold reserves. These higher rates worsened the Depression by
making the cost of doing business more expensive. Many companies went bankrupt, creating record
levels of unemployment. Luckily, in 1933, newly elected President Roosevelt resolved

Woody Guthrie s Song This Land Is Your Land
In 1940, Woody Guthrie wrote the song This Land is Your Land. He wrote it to explain that America is
everyone s, not just the people who can pay for it. He traveled across the U.S.A singing hundreds of
song that he wrote. He also made quotes that are still famous today. This song and these quotes are
similar to each other, but they also are different from each other. In these ways, This Land is Your
Land is similar to Woody s quotes. First of all, they are similar because they both say Woody will
never give up singing until his very last second on Earth. He states it in the quotes, where he says I
will fight those songs to my very last breath of air and my last drop of blood. In the song, he says
nobody living can ever stop me. Another similarity is they are saying that everyone is worth it,
everyone has a place. That is what Woody believed in. Finally, they are similar because they both
came from Woody, they both told what he felt in his heart. It is easy to tell when your hear the music

Bless America, and the quotes were Woody pouring his heart out. Woody liked God Bless America

A Study On The Accounting Field
To get into the accounting field, you must first go to college and obtain either an associate s or a
bachelor s degree in accounting (How to Become an Accountant). Though, for the most part, people
tend to at least get their bachelor s degree. While some people finish their course of study after just
four years, others continue studying up to 150 credits to qualify for certification to become a CPA or
otherwise known as a Certified Public Accountant (How to Become a CPA). But to become a licensed
CPA, one must pass a very rigorous exam, which consists of four different sections. The four parts are:
Audit and Attestation; Financial Accounting and Reporting; Regulation; and Business Environment
and Concepts. Each part is taken once at a time as they are very long, but once you pass a section, you
must pass the other three within a period of 18 months (How to Become a CPA). With a license of a
CPA, one can easily get into the field of public accounting. But what exactly does public accounting

Young people live life by the day. The process of self discovery begins as a teenager. For some, this
could take years. For others, it could happen quickly. Sometimes hardship leads people towards self
discovery. In the book Ordinary People, by Judith Guest, Conrad struggles with his identity; in the
past, Conrad was never able to do anything without his brother s influence. Once his brother drowns,
Conrad feels lost without him. In the beginning, middle and end of the book, Conrad goes through the
stages of grief, and through this process, Conrad discovers his identity. The stages of grief are
demonstrated in Conrad s relationships with his family and friends. Conrad has experienced
depression and a suicide attempt in response to his brother s death. At the beginning of the book,
Conrad is going through the first stage of grief, which is shock and denial. Conrad s father, Cal,
worries about Conrad s mental health and gives him the name of a therapist. However, Conrad does
not call him. Cal believes that Conrad, ought to stick with the plan (13) However, Conrad can t

Compare And Contrast Poe And Steven King
Many say that the hardest part of making a story, not just good, but spectacular, is not the conclusion,
or title. The hardest part of writing successfully is the idea the author must generate in order to tell his
or her tale. Steven King claims that Our job isn t to find these ideas but to recognize them when they
show up. Edgar Allan Poe, however, claims that to truly write it must be as precise as a mathematical
equation. Although the difference between the way these to authors write is extreme, one letting the
story control itself, and the other writing a ridged formula, they do have some similarities.
Steven King believes that a good story is two ideas coming together to make something new. His
approach to writing is one of simplicity. He lets the characters control their own destinies. However,
Steven Kings stories oven hold a darker underlying meaning to them. Though he says he does not
control his characters he often related them to his own life subconsciously. In some of them the main
characters suffer from abuse that they cannot escape from, very much like he suffered from substance
abuse. While Steven King refrains from relying on story but rather on situation, while Poe thrives in
the story. Edgar Allen Poe believes that ideas should be formed in a step by step manner. He writes
stories should begin with a climax, and claims that he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Edgar Allen Poe wrote on realistic tragedy, through a mathematical equation, he did not make it brash,
and painfully factual. He strove to find artistic piquancy, that might serve as a foundation for his story.
Although these two authors have many differences, there unrevealed similarities are

  • 2. Political Beginnings Essay The early political beginnings of United States of America were quite rocky. During this time, politics became an ever growing issue. People were concerned about their wellbeing and whether or not the government was treating them fairly. This growing concern caused for groups of like minded people to band together for a common cause and create political factions. These factions grew to be our present day political parties. It was due to the ratification of the National Bank, The Whisky Rebellion, The Alien and Sedition Acts, and Jay s Treaty that took place between the eras of Washington, Adams, and Jefferson, that allowed for the Federalist and Democratic Republican parties to emerge and assert their differences in early America. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ratification of the National Bank widened the gap between Federalists and Republicans. Even though Washington strictly stated that the United States must be a faction less nation, Parties developed nonetheless. (Dawson, XIV) The 1794 Whisky Rebellion proved to be a turning point in American politics. In 1794, due to civilian anger towards a skyrocketing twenty five percent tax on whiskey, one hundred Pennsylvanian farmers banded together to protest the tax. The protesters attacked a U.S. marshal that summoned sixty people that failed to pay the tax to appear in court at Philadelphia. In response to this protest, Washington proclaimed that citizens who resorted to violent forms of protest would face harsh federal authority. Washington s attack against civilian misconduct showed that the federal government had the strength to enforce its law. This reaction attracted supporters to the federalist cause. This assertion strengthened the view of an aristocratic, elite, government and that the common people were unfit to be a part of the government and that a select few should be in command. Washington s quickness to impose strong federal power exemplifies the federalist ideals. The 1800 s election of Jefferson marked the era of the Democratic Republican. Upon Election, Jefferson demanded dramatic cutbacks to government expenditures, loosening the Judicial branch, a strict interpretation of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Of great importance in decision making is the choosing between the several alternatives. The effectiveness of this work of decision making is of great importance for the well being of every business activity and determines the success of every business (Kay Miranda). The first assesses the degree to which repeated researches yield the same results; the second is based on the stability of measurements over time while the third is based on the similarity of measurements within a given period of time. On the other hand, Joppe (2000) suggested that a valid research is one that truly measures what it was intended to measure. In other words, a valid research is one that provides true results. Quantitative research involves the use of experimental and quantitative measures to test general hypotheses (Hoepfl, 1997). Golafshani (2003) suggested that quantitative research is based on the measurement and the analysis of the causal relationship between variables. Through quantitative research, the researcher is familiarized with the concept to be studied and generates the hypothesis to be tested. As such, the mathematical process takes the norm for analyzing the numeric data and the information gathered takes a numeric form that can be quantified and summarized. Moreover, according to Charles (1995), the final result of the quantitative research is usually expressed in statistical terminologies. Another aspect of quantitative research, as seen from Golafshani (2003), is that it emphasizes on the facts and causal. Therefore, a qualitative researcher should construct an instrument, standardize it and administer it according to predetermined procedures. However, the concern, according to Golafshani (2003), is on its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Cons And Cone Cones Analysis The visual system contains two types of photoreceptors, the rods and the cones. These two receptors are easily distinguishable from one another based on their individual shapes, which also gives them their names. They also differ in the type of photopigments they each contain, in the way they are diffused across the retina, and by the variances between their synaptic associations (Purves, Augustine, Fitzpatrick, Katz, LaMantia, McNamara Williams, 2001). Rods are found in the periphery of the eye and react to faint light, for example black and white, which allows the visual system to process twilight vision. Cones, on the other hand, are located primarily in the fovea and they respond to brighter lights, allowing for the ability to see things in color and are accountable for daylight vision. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The rods, in contrast, are all identical to one another (Purves et al., 2001). At the lower intensities of light, only the rods are activated. However, as the amount of light entering the eye increases, so does the activity of the cones, ultimately influencing what an individual can see (Purves et al., 2001). Photopigments, which are found in both rods and cones within the retina, respond to light through a chemical process that releases energy. In order to detect varying levels of light, photopigments consist of 11 cis retinal (a derivative of vitamin A) bound to proteins called opsins, which modify the photopigments sensitivity to different wavelengths of light. Light converts 11 cis retinal to all trans retinal, thus releasing energy that activates second messengers within the cell (Kalat, 2013, p. 159). The photopigments are responsible for initiating the first steps of communication within visual system when levels of light are first ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Essay on Langston Hughes The Weary Blues Langston Hughes The Weary Blues Jazz music is often associated with long, lazy melodies and ornate rhythmical patterns. The Blues, a type of jazz, also follows this similar style. Langston Hughes poem, The Weary Blues, is no exception. The sound qualities that make up Hughes work are intricate, yet quite apparent. Hughes use of consonance, assonance, onomatopoeia, and rhyme in The Weary Blues gives the poem a deep feeling of sorrow while, at the same time, allows the reader to feel as if he or she is actually listening to the blues sung by the poem s character. The Blues musical move was prominent during the 1920s and 30s, a time known as the Harlem Renaissance. Blues music characteristically told the story of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another place that consonance is apparent is in line 5, ?pale, dull pallor of an old gas light. The sticky l sounds are difficult to produce off of the tongue quickly; therefore, these words slow the poem down. This is typical of the blues. The slow sounds of blues music are incorporated in the words of this poem. It seems as if the words with the l sounds get extra emphasis, as well, because they are so difficult to pronounce. Added strength through word sounds helps boost the poem s glumness. Line 10 is another excellent example of consonance in The Weary Blues. The m and p sounds of He made that poor piano moan with melody give the poem a juxtaposition of warm sounds from the m to aggressive tones with the sharp p. This is a nice element as it is characteristic of blues music, as well. Usually there are some elements of comfort and disdain within the blues. The contrast of the m and p sounds highlights this very well. There is a great amount of assonance in The Weary Blues. The first example of assonance comes right away in the poem. Line 1 opens with the long o sound in Droning a drowsy syncopated tune and continues with Rocking back and forth to a mellow croon in line 2. This long o sound is representative of the forlorn blues aforementioned. The long o is repeated throughout the poem, for example in line 10 with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The cut up method involves cutting up a page into four sections, rearrange said sections and then read the product. The rearrangement of the sections in opposing places extracts new meaning to the text, an outlook that could not be generated from a logical standpoint. A new found sense of surrealism is discovered in something already familiar to us. Surrealist artists of the era were advocating for an art of the unconscious mind. Sometimes this team is hand chosen by the artist, while other times the artist may sign to a record label and be asked to sign a 360 Deal, basically giving the record label control of those connections. All of this is due to the fact that the manager is essentially in charge of the artist s career. It is their duty to view the artist as a brand for which they must market and sell to the primary target market that is the world of music. However, although many times the duties of a manager can stretch far and wide across the artist s career they are sometimes limited to specific tasks. In many instances, a manager may be given specific duties pertaining solely to the role of a business manager. It all varies with the needs of the artist and what they are hoping to achieve in hiring their manager. Some artists even decide to manage themselves and forgo even hiring a manager. Ultimately, however, it is truly an easier method for an artist to hire a manager as the business side can often be taxing and confusing with endless business details and minor nuances that take away effort the artist can be using to better themselves as a performer. Also, a manager already has a grasp on the business world and likely already has a series of connections that would be beneficial to the artist s business and performing career. ConAgra Foods Hanover Bakery is currently dealing with three major cost issues waste, oven temperature regulation, and the warehouse department. This paper will be focusing on just one cost issue that is in the warehouse departments. The warehouse department is currently dealing with a $4 5 million cost in Integrated Mixing Centers in York and Milton. The hardest part of writing successfully is the idea the author must generate in order to tell his or her tale. Steven King claims that Our job isn t to find these ideas but to recognize them when they show up. Edgar Allan Poe, however, claims that to truly write it must be as precise as a mathematical equation. Although the difference between the way these to authors write is extreme, one letting the story control itself, and the other writing a ridged formula, they do have some similarities. Steven King believes that a good story is two ideas coming together to make something new. His approach to writing is one of simplicity. He lets the characters control their own destinies. However, Steven Kings stories oven hold a darker underlying meaning to them. Though he says he does not control his characters he often related them to his own life subconsciously. In some of them the main characters suffer from abuse that they cannot escape from, very much like he suffered from substance abuse. While Steven King refrains from relying on story but rather on situation, while Poe thrives in the story. Edgar Allen Poe believes that ideas should be formed in a step by step manner. He writes stories should begin with a climax, and claims that he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That is not to say that both sides do not contain beauty. He strove to find artistic piquancy, that might serve as a foundation for his story. Although these two authors have many differences, there unrevealed similarities are ...
