Paps Stenosis Case Study
Owen is a 2 month old male with the above mentioned cardiac history. He was brought to our clinic
for first visit after being discharged from PICU. His bilateral PAs stenosis improved significantly after
having PA branches balloon angioplasty and LPA stenting 6/6/2017. His echo today showed max
pressure gradient of 23 mmHg across the LPA stent and 17 at the distal RPA and RVH with mild
dynamic RVOTO when he bears down. In addition, he had moderate pulmonary valve regurgitation
with minimal gradient across his RV PA conduit. In the future, Owen will likely require further
intervening on the narrowed LPA and RPA as well as on his RV PA conduit. Timing to be detirmend

Triangle Shirtwaist Impact On Society
Societal/ Economical/ Political issues The Triangle Shirtwaist had an enormous impact on society.
Most employees working at this factory were young immigrant girls who did not receive proper
working conditions. When the incident occurred, news eventually spread throughout the immigrant
community causing an uproar. The uproar would soon push issues of unsafe factories and immigrant
exploitation into the public minds for a while. For the first time, the Triangle Shirtwaist fire exposed
the awful conditions of New York factories. Many changes took place such the creation of
International Ladies Garment Workers Union who held many strikes against the company. Their goal
was to negotiate better wages and working conditions for the members of the ... Show more content on

Government agencies answered to the public uproar by examining the conditions of the triangle
company and other similar facilities. The discoveries made showed that half the city workers jobs
where located higher than fire department ladders could reach, unhealthy working conditions, with
iron bars blocking fire escapes, overcrowded conditions, and wooden rickety buildings. Blanck, Harris
the owners of Triangle insured the building and received two hundred thousand dollars from nearly
forty different insurance companies. Shortly after the fire, they tried to open a new business. They
were fined by inspectors for positioning the machines close together. Blanck and Harris were charged
with manslaughter on April 11 for keeping the back doors locked in the factory. In 1913, Blanck was
charged again for locking the door to one of his new factories and was fined twenty dollars. The
following year, the two factory owners were fined for sewing fake consumer labels into their clothing
saying the factory met working standards. In 1914, Blanck and Harris settled the civil suits against
them, paying seventy five dollars for each life lost. they had so much insurance that they made sixty
five thousand dollars in profit off their factory burning and number workers dead. This caused more
chaos amongst the people, because the owners profited off the fire. By breaking canon 1,5,6 it is

Carbon Dioxide And The Rate Of Photosynthesis
Abstract Photosynthesis is directly affected by specific factors such as the level of carbon dioxide and
the amount of light. In this study, we try to prove whether or not there is a significant statistical
difference between the level of carbon dioxide and the rate of photosynthesis. To do this we
investigated an aquatic plant, Elodea. A test was conducted to study the rate of photosynthesis which
in this case was by observation of the number of gas bubbles produced when the plant was placed in
different concentration of NaCHO3. The data obtained was used to calculate and plot standard
deviation graphs for each test. By observing error graphs, it was evident that the P value obtained was
lower than the significant value of 0.05%, resulting in the rejection of the hypothesis.
Introduction
Photosynthesis is an essential process for plants to prevent enthalpy, maintain metabolism and sustain
to its environment. Photosynthesis allows plants to convert carbon dioxide to organic molecules using
light as a source of energy. The key elements that are required for the process of photosynthesis are
carbon dioxide, water, and light. All the components needed for photosynthesis are used in small
quantities as they have adverse effects on the plant, for example, if there is too much carbon dioxide,
the spores of the plant reduce in size thus affecting respiration and evaporating (Carnegie Institution,
2010).
The objective of this study is to prove the relationship between carbon

Women s Subjectivity in Arabian Nights by Judith Grossman...
Women s Subjectivity in Arabian Nights by Judith Grossman
Judith Grossman wrote an article concerning women s subjectivity in Arabian Nights. The article
brought out many points to which I had never given thought. As I read the novel, I saw that women
were considered evil and bad, but I didn t think much more of it. After reading Grossman s article I
must say I agree with many of the thoughts expressed. She focuses on the fact that women are
considered to be evil, but it is just because their true self has never had a chance to be free. Women are
locked into this reciprocal cycle of deceit and unfaithfulness, only after being oppressed by their
husbands or keepers, as in the case of the Jinnee and the maiden. Grossman s article ... Show more

The maiden says, But I have lain under as many men as I ve desired, and this wretched jinnee doesn t
realize that destiny cannot be averted or hindered by anything and that whatever a woman wants, she
will get, no matter how much a man might try to prevent it.(11) It is easy to see that she is rebelling in
her own way against the rules set forth by the jinnee and all of mankind. She has a deep hatred
towards men, and she makes herself feel better by dominating strange men and threatening them with
the loss of their lives. Although she cannot actually kill them her captor the jinnee, will without a
second thought. Though she is dominated by the jinnee, she has a power over the men she finds. This
evens out the balance of power a little between the jinnee and the maiden. Women are made out to be
awful, horrible creatures from which men should take cover. In Arabian Nights there are many
passages in which women are negatively portrayed. For example, This only proves that all women will
make cuckolds out of their husbands when given the chance...No man in this world is safe from the
malice of women! (6) This is only one of many blatant sexist remarks in this text. Grossman takes the
stance in her article, ...but my focus is not on the solipsistic narrator it is on narration as a social act
undertaken in a specified context of events.(113) To me this means that she is focusing on what
character is doing the narration in the context

Pesticide and Insecticide
INTRODUCTION
Agriculture is the keystone of the Indian economy. Ensuring food security for more than1 billion
Indian populations with diminishing cultivable land resource is a herculean task. This necessitates use
of high yielding variety of seeds, balance use of fertilizers, judicious use of quality pesticides along
with education to farmers and the use of modern farming techniques. It is estimated that India
approximately loses 18 percent of the crop yield valued at Rs.900 billion due to pest attack each year.
The use of pesticides help to reduce the crop losses, provide economic benefits to farmers, reduce soil
erosion and helping ensuring food safety security for the nation. The Pesticide Management Bill 2008

How I Changed My Family Essay
Relationships are something that we all yearn for as humans. However there are instances where they
are hard to keep. I grew up in Lynchburg Virginia and I had few people I considered friends. I wasn t a
very social person and liked to keep to myself over being in the company of others. I was always the
person that my friends went to when they needed someone to listen to them.
The way a lot of my friendships went was I would listen to them, offer help, and see where it went. I
was not the person who opened up real easy. I wasn t comfortable having others around except the few
people I had considered my friends. The only person I really opened up to was my grandmother. I was
closer to her then I was my parents.
However due to issues with my parents I had to move to a new school in a new area leaving behind
the few friends I had and my grandmother. Starting in 4th grade I had to change schools due to family
issues. My friends Alana, Ashley, Emily, Chelsie claimed they understood why I was moving but I
talked to them even less. It took me most of the year to make a new friend and I was a little more open
with them. With this new friend I actually opened a little and talked to them about many things.
When I finally got to move back to my old school the friends had almost forgotten me completely and
had made new friends they told everything to. Emily and Chelsie completely stopped talking to me
because they said I would never talk to them as a girl. However Ashley and

Why ShouldnT Tommy And Jim Have Sex John Corvino Analysis
John Corvino s article Why Shouldn t Tommy and Jim Have Sex? (Shafer Landau 209 222) is the
material I have chosen to review for my final analysis paper. Homosexuality has been something that
has plagued my generation with confusion and doubt. I grew up at the tail end of the AIDS (Acquired
Immune Deficiency Syndrome) epidemic and can remember when major news networks were
blaming homosexuals for the rapid spread of this particular disease. I have also seen the passing of
many pro gay rights acts and in many ways this was my generation s civil rights advancement for
future generations. This topic has been very controversial for many years and each generation has their
own personal view on the matter and I think Corvino did an excellent ... Show more content on

Like most couples Corvino assumes that they must engage in sexual activity for the same reason that
any heterosexual couple would that it is pleasurable. Sex can help unite a couple and open an avenue
of growth that would only help to strengthen the bond between two people.
One of the first major argument is that it is unnatural , Corvino easily dismisses this argument because
under that explanation nothing is normal not clothing, organized religion or governments. The only
thing that would be natural would be nature. In nature there are some species that do engage in
homosexual activity. So by this natural standard it could not be used to reject Tommy and Jim.
Another argument against homosexuals is that it is harmful to society through the spread of sexually
transmitted diseases (STD), by denying population growth and how it harms our youth. The first issue
is addressed by simple process of elimination if homosexual males are at the highest risk of getting an
STD and lesbian women at the lowest risk. Than Corvino is able to challenge the argument by
concluding that if you are only choosing a partner based on risk of disease than women should only be
with other women as the risk is the lowest. However most people do not chose a partner based on
these principles. As for the issue of not having sex for only procreation purposes is absurd. Even the
Catholic church prohibits sex during pregnancy and for pleasure

Themes in Frankenstein Essay
Frankenstein deals with two main social concerns, the level of moral responsibility that a creator
possesses in relation to his creation, as well as the issue of the moral boundaries that exists in one s
quest for knowledge, including the fine line between good and bad knowledge, The novel also deals
with two main human concerns, which include a person s goals or aspirations as well as the issue of
pride and its affect on a person.
Mary Shelley highlights the issue of moral responsibility by the fact that Frankenstein neglects the
issue at first, but then realises its importance. Frankenstein completely ignores his moral responsibility
in relation to his work initially, blinded by his emotions, but once he realised that he had ... Show

Bad knowledge in contrast, is knowledge that is single minded, driven by personal gain, and possesses
very little constraints.
Pride is probably the most important human issue that Mary Shelley explores, with Frankenstein s
search for knowledge being more a quest for glory than one that was going to genuinely benefit
society. A new species would bless me as it creator and source NO father could claim the gratitude of
his child so completely as I should deserve theirs. Frankenstein s pride is blatantly displayed, as he
disregards, his family, friends and his environment to spend day and night creating the creature, only
to become conscious of the fact that it s a monster. His pride is further shown by the fact that he let s
an innocent woman die just to preserve his reputation by not speaking out. The way pride is portrayed
in the novel indicates that society back then was heavily based on ones reputation and prestige.
Goals or aspirations is closely tied in with the other issues discussed earlier, in that both Frankenstein
and Walton seek glory, but both realise, Frankenstein the hard way that glory comes at a price, and
risks need to be taken in order to achieve one s goal, but its up to that person to decide where the risk
is too great. This issue does reflect the values of Shelley s society, in that the three main

The United States Economy As The Global Economy
From 2010 until the end of 2014 oil prices remained relatively constant. With very little fluctuation
over these four years, the average price per barrel of oil was around 110 dollars. That price has been
more than cut in half within the past year. The price for United States crude oil is now just 48 dollars a
barrel, the lowest it has been since 2009 (BBC News). So what is the cause for this sudden change and
to what effect will this have on the United States economy as well as the global economy? There are
three core contributors that account for this sudden dip in oil prices. These contributors are a low
demand for oil in many countries, specifically Europe, that is caused by a lack of economic growth,
the increase in The United States oil production, and The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting
Countries (OPEC) increase in oil production. With many of Europe s economically struggling
countries the increase in production of oil which in return yields lower prices has benefitted them.
Europe s weak economy is able to contribute to this drop in oil prices in that Europe s currently low
inflation rate and weak economy has greatly lessened the demand for oil. The lack of demand for oil
in one of the most prominent import continents in the world has forced oil manufactures to lower their
prices in order to retain Europe as a top oil export. Large oil exporters do not want to lose Europe as
an export because that would also mean losing billions of dollars per year.

Comparison Of The BeatlesThe Beatles And The Rolling Stones
The Beatles and the Rolling Stones first number one hit songs in the United States, I Want To Hold
Your Hand and (I Can t Get No) Satisfaction were major players in the British Invasion, a musical
revolution which saw a massive spike in the popularity of British artists and culture in America. Both
songs hold some similarities, most notably in the composition of the instruments, along with some
conventions seen in the genre. Yet, strong differences can be found in the vocals, lyrics and general
tone of the songs, showing the separation between two rising subcultures in England. Although very
similar in composition, the two bands display the growing rift between the mods and the rockers those
who preferred the clean cut look and music inspired by the blues, and those who preferred the
rebellious nature of a harder rock and roll.
Both songs display a very similar make up as far as the band and instruments of choice. The core
consists of two guitars, one for lead, and the other for helping maintain rhythm, a bass guitar and
drums along with vocals. The difference here is seen in the instruments used to follow the beat. The
Beatles utilized hand clapping in the background, standing out distinctly from the drums during a
verse, and dissipating as the chorus starts. A good example of this can be heard at 0:07, running until
0:21 as the chorus leads in. The Rolling Stones takes a different approach, using a tambourine and
keeping it on a consistent beat throughout the entire

Contract Risk and Opportunities
Clarity of contract is an essential element to creating a workable and executable agreement. C S and
Span entered into a business contract that was ambiguous from the start. It used words like ordinary in
terms of production. Terms like this are often up to interpretation and can be the failing point of an
agreement.

Management Responsibility (Span) Span should revisit internal processes to see if there is a process
that is slowing delivery of products to C S. After the internal audit of processes the project
management team should reach out to C S and ask the same be done to ensure there are not any
procedural delays present.
Management Responsibility (C S) They should also internally audit there processes in regards to this
project to ensure that the new management is onboard and understands the particulars of their
responsibility to this project.
Breach of Contract under substantial performance of contract This measure allows for neither party to
rescind the contract past 50% completion. While at the 60% point in the contract, Span has only
delivered on 40% of its responsibility to C S. It is understood that the delays are caused in part by both
companies. This point is not a valid defense for Span and should be avoided in communication with C
S.
Management Responsibility (Span) Span needs to assign more manpower to this project to keep with
the timeline.
Management Responsibility (C S) C S needs to express the concerns more effectively to Span and
accept some responsibility due to the amount of changes requested.
Dispute Resolution Methods
Arbitration and Mediation This method could be used by Span and C S to resolve the contract dispute.
It is less costly than traditional litigation. However this method does not

Fresh Off The Boat Stereotypes
Fresh Off the Boat is an ABC comedy, based on Eddie Huang s best selling memoir of the same name,
that has resonated with audiences perhaps in part thanks to its grounding in real experiences. Set in the
1990 s, it tells the story of a young Eddie, played by newcommer, Hudson Yang, and his experience
moving from Washington DC s Chinatown to suburban Orlando, Florida. Fresh Prince of Bel Air
starred Will Smith as a fictionalized version of himself, who is sent to live in an upper class Bel Air
neighborhood from the streets of Philadelphia to live with his wealthy uncle and aunt as a result of a
fight. Both sitcoms, Fresh Off the Boat and the Fresh Prince of Bel Air highlights the lives of two
young men adapting in unfamiliar territory as they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The theory suggests that the mass media could influence a very large group of people directly and
uniformly by shooting or injecting them with appropriate messages designed to trigger a desired
response. Stereotypes can be found in both sitcoms; although both shows find away to have viewers
look the other way. For example, asians have a long history of being made fun of because of their
thick accents. In Fresh Off the Boat, Eddie and his siblings speak like every other American kid. In
fact, asian names are a common joke as well, but the show s characters have typical names. Media is
an important source of information about a culture and media portrayals contribute to public
perception (Hodan, 2015). Fresh Prince of Bel Air is used as a medium at which stereotypes are
presented through the show. In the beginning years, Will is shown as an outcast who brings
embarrassment to his Bel Air family being conveyed as how the average young black man is seen in
society. However, in an episode where Will s uncle is utterly embarrassed by his actions during a
gathering at their home full of wealthy upper class patrons, Uncle Phil himself is proved wrong of his
misconceptions after hearing Will play Für Elise by Beethoven. Prior to the Fresh Prince of Bel Air,
black families were portrayed as poor, uneducated or broken. The show s attempt to screen out
stereotypes and create a more positive image with references that expand the cultural context is
represented in the show in a brighter

Heteronormativity In Let It Go
The Disney cinematic universe is riddled with an obscene heteronormativity that appears to be
subverted in Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck s, Frozen. The entirety of this film removes itself from the
particular expected narrative of its counterparts. This is particularly clear in the title song of the film,
Let it Go. Sung by queer icon Idina Menzel, this song seems to divulge from the implications of
heteronormativity and showcase clear insinuations of a coming out narrative . Using the works of
Somerville, Freud, Wittig, and Butler this paper will aim to follow the protagonist through the song
and her queer narrative. Unbound by the typical narrative of heterosexual love and freed by self
expression, this song allows for a clear queer reading ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using Somerville s concepts of heteronormativity, it is possible to experience the expectations of Elsa
s parents and society. She sings, don t let them in, don t let them see, be the good girl you always have
to be it is expected that she will conform to the norms of society and act as the proper woman and
monarch. In Subjects of Sex, Gender, Desire, Judith Butler speaks of norms of intelligibility, namely
what is accepted as normal by a society. Elsa has hidden away and refused to let people see within her,
she hides so as not to be presented as freakish or monstrous. She is unable to fully present herself in a
way that would be viewed as normal or expected so she instead removes herself from the view of her
society. Butler also mentions the concept of the heterosexual matrix and the expectations of a
heteronormative society. Elsa lives in a society that instructs her to hide the aspects of herself that do
not conform to the expected norms, she alters the perception of herself so as to fit into the mold of the
heterosexual matrix. She escapes it only by accepting aspects of herself that are non normalized and
inherently odd. After escaping this society she realizes the freedom in full expression of self, I m never

Forgiveness In The Sunflower Analysis
Forgiveness There is an abundance of ways that one might interpret forgiveness. Psychologists might
explain it as a conscious decision to pardon the actions of those who ve done wrong. Religious people
might identify it as an attribute that we should all have. Though there are many ways in which
forgiveness is seen, they all conclude that it leads people towards happiness and peace. In Simon
Wiesenthal s book The Sunflower, forgiveness is an important concept. Forgiveness is shown as an
important concept to the story as it makes the reader question the forgiver s role, the importance of
forgiveness, and the reason people ask for forgiveness. In The Sunflower by Simon Wiesenthal, he
shares his story of when a dying Nazi soldier asked him for forgiveness. After that incident,
Wiesenthal goes on a journey through life trying to figure out if his actions were right in not forgiving
the soldier. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Going about life with a forgiving attitude tends to make us happier and more at peace. In The
Sunflower, forgiveness is the main and most important concept. Karl asks for forgiveness from Simon
on his actions and Simon goes through the rest of his life pondering whether or not what he did was
right and if he should try and forgive himself for what he did. After talking to Bolek, Simon states, I
became less and less certain as to whether I had acted rightly (Wiesenthal 83). This statement shows
how Simon does not know whether what he did was right and how every person he talked to about his
situation impacted his opinions. Forgiveness is such an important concept that it makes Wiesenthal
ponder about his actions and ask for input from multiple different people. He felt as if he cannot be at
peace until he comes to terms with his actions. This shows that forgiveness is an extremely important
concept in both life and The Sunflower as it can lead us onto different paths and make us question our
views and

Compare And Contrast The Four Contemporary Management...
There are four known contemporary management approaches that include: sociotechnical theory,
organizational behavior, quantitative management and systems theory. These management approaches
are essential in analyzing the different organizational environments, including internal, macro and
competitive environments. This paper will look at the different contemporary management
approaches, define open systems and describe the internal, macro and competitive organizational
environments. It will also indicate whether or not the four contemporary approaches to management
are relevant in the above stated environments.
Sociotechnical is the first contemporary management approach. It is thought that success in each and
every organization comes when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this approach, how the manager treats employees signifies the expected behavior of the employees.
Hence, if he sees them as ineffective, then they will be ineffective (Gupta, 2009).
There is also the systems theory approach to contemporary management. This approach focuses on the
relationship that exists between the organization and the general public. It defines an organization as a
system that is either closed or open, but in most cases open. In that regard, an open system is defined
as an organizational interaction with its own environment by way of inputs and its outputs. Therefore,
it can be said that the environment impacts on the organization while the organization also has an
impact on the environment.
There are three environments that are essential to the organization and they are: the internal, macro
and the competitive environments. These environments together with the open systems are vital parts
of an organization that should be considered in the determining the approach to adopt (Wetherly Otter,
2014). The internal environment can be described as all the forces that are within the organization that
impacts on the organization. The internal environment incorporates all the managers, workers and the
resources that the organization has to assist in the daily operations. The competitive

2003: pg6] South Africa provides a unique opportunity to observe the effects of globalization in that
the pre democratic period was a period of very little globalization, which can be contrasted with the
democratic period which has been characterised by rapid globalization. This sharp contrast emphasises
the effects that globalization has on a country.
The essay is a longitudinal study that seeks to understand the impact of globalization on the JSE
Securities Exchange, since the democratic elections in South Africa. Firstly this essay will analyse the
impact globalization has had on South Africa in general. Then the essay ... Show more content on

The theory has implications for inequality within a country (Stopler Samuelson) and between
countries (Factor Price Equalization). The Stopler Samuelson theory, which builds on the Heckscher
Ohlin theory, predicts that with increased trade, the nation s abundant factor will gain and the scarce
factor will lose. In terms of income inequality within a country this means that by increasing trade the
lower income group, which control the abundant and cheap factor would realise an increase in income
and the higher income group controlling the scarce resources would see a fall in income. The assertion
by Stopler and Samuelson that increased trade would cause a decrease in inequality within a country is
not strongly supported by empirical evidence. A study by Dollar and Kraay [2001] shows that in the
period between 1960 and 1995, inequality has in fact slightly increased within countries that the
authors have termed globalizers .
The empirical evidence, however, does support the Factor Price Equalization theorem, which states
that the movement of factors between countries is replaced by trade in final goods, thus international
trade brings about an equalization of relative factor prices between countries. Dollar and Kraay [2001]
use empirical evidence to

Essay On The Frog And The Toad
I found excellence and flaws in the acting, technical elements, and even the playwright of the play The
Frog and the Toad. I was pleased with the message of the play and the overall performance of actors.
However, there were a few things that I felt could be improved on in future plays.
The performance of the snail in The Frog and the Toad play was the one I liked the most because the
actor was very convincing and seemed to suit his character perfectly. The snail was convincing
because he walked very slowly and had a squeaky voice, which are some characteristics that a snail
would be expected to have. He spoke and sang very clearly, which the voice he played the snail part in
fit the character very well. He connected with the audience ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

By the same token, I really liked how the costumes of Turtle and Snail were also distinct and had
unique characteristics of their real nature. For example, Turtle s costume included a large backpack on
the back of the actor, which to the audience, was perceived as a large shell. Snail s unique costume
included a rolled up sleeping bag strapped on his back, which to the audience, was perceived as a snail
shell.
However, some technical elements that I didn t like was the dark blue long fabric and the blue see
through long fabric used in the set when Frog and Toad are swimming in the pond and when Toad
looks for Frog on and island. These fabrics and the way they are handled look very tacky and poor
quality. It would have made it better if the fabric was not see through and if the people behind the
bushes or rocks that were moving the fabric, to make it appear as if the water were moving, moved the
long fabrics more fluently, and not in a jerky manner.
The set was changed very effectively throughout the play. I liked how every time the curtains were put
down, there was a either a solo or miniature performance in the front or just music to distract the
audience for a quick second while the set was being rearranged. I felt like that helped the play flow
because it didn t stop at every scene, distract the audience, and unengage them from the play. I liked

The Film I Will Be Evaluating A Sprawling Two Part Sex...
The film I will be evaluating is Nymphomaniac a sprawling two part sex drama that blurs the line
between art and porn. It follows a sex addict named Joe as she s found battered in an alleyway by an
older bachelor named Seligman. In explaining how she came to be in such a condition, flashback
scenes unfold in chapters introduced by snapping witty dialogue between Joe and Seligman. It begins
with Joe throughout her teenage years, when she first begins to discover her insatiable sexual appetite.
Then through her adult life as she is pushed out of normal society. The film whips through a wide
range of topics, such as gender role conformity, consent, and, metal dysfunction.
To begin with Joe is a self described nymphomaniac, which is a former term for excessive sexual
desire in a woman, which may lead to promiscuous sexual behavior. Most psychologists have argued
against the use of the term for year it s an antiquated and demeaning word used to denigrate sexual
women. It is not a medical or psychiatric diagnosis. Her correct diagnosis is hypersexuality, which can
apply to anyone, is not a true mental disorder, but a symptom of a much larger problem. I like the title
and think it was a fascinating and intentional plot related choice by Von trier, for this reason that Joe
does display other issues like low self esteem, loneliness, and, attachment avoidance. I like the title it
made me think about how we use words.
Furthermore, this movie is touted as a pro feminist love

J. D. Salinger s The Catcher In The Rye
Catcher in the Rye is a very confusing book. Usually you can kind of guess what is going to happen
next. For an example when Holden, the main character, is arguing with his roommate Stradlater you
could tell that they were going to get physical with each other. Holden has a lot of conflicts that an
everyday person would not encounter. I have never seen any 16 year old have to deal with the
problems he has had. He is at the weird age where he is becoming an adult but yet he is still a child.
Being 16 is a very awkward stage, most of the time people are very indecisive just like Holden. They
react in their own way not like a child but not like an adult either. He has his ways but usually it is the
wrong way. He is very immature for 16 but yet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I come by this because he wears a red hunting hat in the middle of Manhattan and asking cab drivers
about ducks and ponds. It would seem that he likes the innocents of childhood and doesn t want other
kids to get older and have to see the world for what he thinks it is. Like he says here all he wants is for
kids to be kids not have to go into the adult world which would be like them going off of the cliff like
is says in the quote, he is in the limbo between childhood and adulthood. Anyway, I keep picturing all
these little kids playing some game in this big field of rye and all. Thousands of little kids, and nobody
s around nobody big, I mean except me. And I m standing on the edge of some crazy cliff. What I
have to do, I have to catch everybody if they start to go over the cliff I mean if they re running and
they don t look where they re going I have to come out from somewhere and catch them. That s all I d
do all day. I d just be the catcher in the rye and all. Salinger pg.

Violent Role-Playing Games In America
For many people in America, violent role playing games are fun for them and nothing is wrong with

Change of Position Balances the Hardship between the...
Upon fulfillment of the four criteria, namely that the defendant has been unjustly enriched at the
claimant s expense and there are no defences available for the defendant, a claimant will qualify for
restitution of unjust enrichment as established in Banque Financiere de la Cite v Parc (Battersea) Ltd.
Change of position is one of the numerous defences which may be used when it would be excessive to
allow a restitution claim at the defendant s expense. This essay will evaluate the defence of change of
position and reinforce the stance that it is adequately effective in protecting a defendant from hardship.
The purpose of change of position is to balance out the hardships between claimant and defendant. In
the landmark case of Lipkin Gorman v Karpnale, it states that if a claimant pays money to the
defendant, who then uses the money or changes his position in good faith, it will be unjust to require
the defendant to make restitution. This further solidified the status of change of position as an
accepted choice of defence against a restitution claim.
There are principles guiding change of position, rather than it being up to the courts discretion.
However, in Lipkin Gorman, Lord Goff stated that the development of change of position should be
dealt with on a case to case basis , leading to much uncertainty regarding the defence of change of
position. Each case has distinctive facts and it is due to this uncertainty which provides flexibility for
the courts to provide

Fate In The Monkey s Paw, By William W. Jacobs
Step on a spider, and the consequences may be the millennia of mosquitos yet to come. Wish to be the
fastest runner, yet instead, everyone walks at a snail s pace. Tampering with fate will leave people
panicking in the aftermath of its unforeseeable outcome. In The Monkey s Paw , by William W.
Jacobs, fate is stronger than human will. The people live a normal life until they obtain the Monkey s
Paw. Subsequently, they quickly learn to dread the result of reshaping fate. The unimaginable power
fate has over human will is best left untouched, because the consequences are unanticipated, fate tries
to balance changes from human will, and people face remorse trying to alter their fate.
Although free will is able to change the future, fate leads to unexpected results that show people
should not bother to alter it.The outcome is not usually what one anticipates for. For example, when
Mr. white wishes for money upon the monkey s paw he does not anticipate for its consequences.
Likewise, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People remain calm when events happen naturally, but in contrast, when they manipulate fate, they
worry of all the dangerous possibilities that fate can hold. For example, earlier in the story, the family
remains calm as the wind bangs the door. However, after wishing to revive Herbert, the door bangs
again, and Mr. White [stands] like a statue (Jacobs 294). Pain is exaggerated also when anticipating
the results of fate. The death of Herbert is an example because they have the power to revive and kill
him. Their days become long and empty while waiting for their wish to revive him to become
true(Jacobs 222). Above all, if Herbert s death was natural, their reaction would have been different;
the cause of their sorrow is due to the trying to manipulate the unforeseeable fate. As a result, disarray
occurs when attempting to predict what fate holds, so it is better to avoid changing fate in the first

The Bp Oil Spill Crisis
When presented with this project during class, my group and I knew it would be a challenge, but knew
with the right topic we could easily overcome the challenge. We thought long and hard about what
topic we wanted to research. It had to be something that was interesting, impactful and well known.
We thought of controversial topics, headliner news stories, and topics with familiarity. In the end, we
chose to use British Petroleum s (BP) Oil Spill in the Gulf Coast during 2010. The BP Oil Spill was a
crisis and the BP company responded to the event with socially responsible leadership style. We
ultimately chose it because it was interesting. When it came to research, we all tried to find different
articles on our own to get some general knowledge on the spill. On the first day, we tried to compare
our findings to make sure everyone had a basic understanding of the BP Oil Spill. Then, we all did our
research individually. When we met back up we shared about our findings and shared our resources.
Then Matt created a PowerPoint and shared it with all of us and included all the awesome links that he
found. Several of the links he included were also discovered by other members of the group. He As far

Cannibalism Essay
ABSTRACT
Cannibalism is an act that is thought to be heinous and inconceivable in the minds of men. But,
contrary to what many people think, cannibalism is very much alive and still being practiced within
the continental United States of America; the thing is...the government just hasn t found out about it
yet. This report will take you through the history of cannibalism, the different types of cannibalism,
and the different cases of cannibalism.
Cannibalism is one of the strangest and most horrific American taboos. When the common person
thinks of cannibalism, a ballistic, deranged, serial killer who cuts his victims into pieces and boils
them in bloody water quickly comes to mind. Cannibalism is precisely defined as the eating of one s

in Anasazi Cannibalism? p. 1).
All cannibalism is not the same. One way to classify cannibalism is by who is eaten. There are three
ways: autocannibalism eating parts of oneself (not including common traits such as nail biting);
exocannibalism the eating of outsiders or foreigners (such as invaders or enemies); and
endocanniballism the eating of ones own social group. There are also functional types of cannibalism,
based on why someone is eaten: survival cannibalism, religious or ritual cannibalism, and dietary or
gastronomic cannibalism.
Survival cannibalism is one type of cannibalism that clearly without a doubt has occurred and is well
documented. quot;Simply put, survival cannibalism occurs when people are trapped without food in
some way in a boat adrift on the ocean, on a mountain by snowfall and resort to eating other members
of the group quot; (qtd. in The myths and perturbing realities of cannibalism p.1). The most notable
case of survival cannibalism is the case of the Donner party of 1846. A group of 90 immigrants led by
George Donner was caught in a blinding snowstorm high in the Sierra Nevada range of California in
October 1846. Survivors, who made their way out early in 1847, had been forced to resort to eating
the flesh of their comrades in order to survive. The survivors openly admitted to the media

American prison food was already subpar to begin with, but with budget cuts and efforts to save
money, many prisons and companies chose to make cuts with the quality and amounts of food given to
the prisoners. The Schuylkill County Prison in Pennsylvania was sued for not feeding their inmates
enough to feed a child (Santo Iaboni, 2015). Some prisons, and private companies, generally go by a
calorie minimum that must be provided, which sometimes allow for prisoners to only get two meals a
day, these meals can cost as low as 56 cents per meal, and supposedly these menus are being reviewed

The main concept of cost leadership is achieved through the following actions: reducing the

These are some of the strategies that traditional airlines use to eliminate the unnecessary costs and

Political and Legal impacts
The author believes that the government and European taxes are the main political factors that can
affect the future of the company. Airport taxes are levied as a fixed tax on the sale of airline seats in
most of the countries where easyJet operates. The UK government had established one of the highest
taxes in Europe Air Passenger Duty (APD). In 2008, the APD tax is charged at £10 £20 for flights
within Europe and at £40 £80 for long haul flights. (Osborne, 2008). At that time the company takes
out an advertisement in the UK national newspaper for making the APD tax greener and free of
subsidies to airlines with transfer passengers. EasyJet takes action to replace the APD tax with a flight
base tax. This means that the passengers that fly in the newest aircraft cause less pollution and they
should not pay the same money as somebody using an old aircraft.
Recently, the additional taxes concerning

no unanimity about its root causes nor about the solutions. The differences of views are being debated

In an attempt to blame the crisis solely on the affected countries, intellectual quot;flip flops quot; were
made. Features that had been toasted as strengths were overnight concerted into evils. For example,
the countries had been praised (indeed, over praised) for having strong linkages between the public
and private sectors. Today, that is totally condemned as the fatal flaw of crony capitalism. As an
alternative to mainly blaming the countries, there rapidly developed another view of how the crisis
emerged and spread. This view put the blame on the developments of the global financial system, with
the combination of the following features:
Financial deregulation and liberalisation across the world (as the legal basis);
The increasing interconnection of markets and speed of transactions through computer technology (as
the technological basis); and
The development of large institutional financial players (such as the speculative hedge funds, the
investment banks, and the huge mutual and pension funds).
This combination has led to the rapid shifting of large blocks of short term capital flowing across
borders in search of quick and high returns, to the tune of US$2 trillion a day.
Only one to two percent is accounted for by foreign exchange transactions relating to trade and
foreign direct investment. The remainder is for speculation or short term investments

Through the story of the king and the sparrow, we come to realize the implications that social justice

of his people s suffering, then he analyzed his options to help, finally he acted by removing his jewels

From America s beginning, it has never been a respectful society; be it Native Americans, the poor, or
minorities, America has always trampled upon their rights. America only respects power and wealth
the two usually go hand and hand for it is through power that profit can be made. America is known
for several controversies regarding respect for its inhabitants over its relatively short history; although
these controversies have ended, there remains much contempt for those who struggled. America s poor
seem to be afflicted by a de facto sense of poverty, in that their homes, educational opportunities, and
employment follow and circular pattern of failure. Americans depose those with a background of
poverty, seeing them as virtually useless for the betterment of the nation. Through the nation s ideals,
America has become a disrespectful country, favoring only those who can contribute .
In conclusion, America seems to be at war with itself and its inhabitants at all times, a seeming
paradox, in which the nation is torn between justice and injustice. To have justice in America, one
usually thinks of being generous, the real solution is to be aware of the suffering of others. In terms of
respect America seems to be lacking; the disrespect of America seems to be a manifestation of our
own problems. Harvard Medical School psychiatry professor Alvin Poussaint takes it one step further,

His echo today showed max pressure gradient of 23 mmHg across the LPA stent and 17 at the distal RPA and RVH with mild dynamic RVOTO when he bears down. In addition, he had moderate pulmonary valve regurgitation with minimal gradient across his RV PA conduit. In the future, Owen will likely require further intervening on the narrowed LPA and RPA as well as on his RV PA conduit. Timing to be detirmend by his longitudinal follow up. • 3. Triangle Shirtwaist Impact On Society Societal/ Economical/ Political issues The Triangle Shirtwaist had an enormous impact on society. Most employees working at this factory were young immigrant girls who did not receive proper working conditions. When the incident occurred, news eventually spread throughout the immigrant community causing an uproar. The uproar would soon push issues of unsafe factories and immigrant exploitation into the public minds for a while. For the first time, the Triangle Shirtwaist fire exposed the awful conditions of New York factories. Many changes took place such the creation of International Ladies Garment Workers Union who held many strikes against the company. Their goal was to negotiate better wages and working conditions for the members of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Government agencies answered to the public uproar by examining the conditions of the triangle company and other similar facilities. The discoveries made showed that half the city workers jobs where located higher than fire department ladders could reach, unhealthy working conditions, with iron bars blocking fire escapes, overcrowded conditions, and wooden rickety buildings. Blanck, Harris the owners of Triangle insured the building and received two hundred thousand dollars from nearly forty different insurance companies. Shortly after the fire, they tried to open a new business. They were fined by inspectors for positioning the machines close together. Blanck and Harris were charged with manslaughter on April 11 for keeping the back doors locked in the factory. In 1913, Blanck was charged again for locking the door to one of his new factories and was fined twenty dollars. The following year, the two factory owners were fined for sewing fake consumer labels into their clothing saying the factory met working standards. In 1914, Blanck and Harris settled the civil suits against them, paying seventy five dollars for each life lost. they had so much insurance that they made sixty five thousand dollars in profit off their factory burning and number workers dead. This caused more chaos amongst the people, because the owners profited off the fire. By breaking canon 1,5,6 it is obvious that both owners displayed terrible ethical ... • 5. Carbon Dioxide And The Rate Of Photosynthesis Abstract Photosynthesis is directly affected by specific factors such as the level of carbon dioxide and the amount of light. In this study, we try to prove whether or not there is a significant statistical difference between the level of carbon dioxide and the rate of photosynthesis. To do this we investigated an aquatic plant, Elodea. A test was conducted to study the rate of photosynthesis which in this case was by observation of the number of gas bubbles produced when the plant was placed in different concentration of NaCHO3. The data obtained was used to calculate and plot standard deviation graphs for each test. By observing error graphs, it was evident that the P value obtained was lower than the significant value of 0.05%, resulting in the rejection of the hypothesis. Introduction Photosynthesis is an essential process for plants to prevent enthalpy, maintain metabolism and sustain to its environment. Photosynthesis allows plants to convert carbon dioxide to organic molecules using light as a source of energy. The key elements that are required for the process of photosynthesis are carbon dioxide, water, and light. All the components needed for photosynthesis are used in small quantities as they have adverse effects on the plant, for example, if there is too much carbon dioxide, the spores of the plant reduce in size thus affecting respiration and evaporating (Carnegie Institution, 2010). The objective of this study is to prove the relationship between carbon ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Women s Subjectivity in Arabian Nights by Judith Grossman... Women s Subjectivity in Arabian Nights by Judith Grossman Judith Grossman wrote an article concerning women s subjectivity in Arabian Nights. The article brought out many points to which I had never given thought. As I read the novel, I saw that women were considered evil and bad, but I didn t think much more of it. After reading Grossman s article I must say I agree with many of the thoughts expressed. She focuses on the fact that women are considered to be evil, but it is just because their true self has never had a chance to be free. Women are locked into this reciprocal cycle of deceit and unfaithfulness, only after being oppressed by their husbands or keepers, as in the case of the Jinnee and the maiden. Grossman s article ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The maiden says, But I have lain under as many men as I ve desired, and this wretched jinnee doesn t realize that destiny cannot be averted or hindered by anything and that whatever a woman wants, she will get, no matter how much a man might try to prevent it.(11) It is easy to see that she is rebelling in her own way against the rules set forth by the jinnee and all of mankind. She has a deep hatred towards men, and she makes herself feel better by dominating strange men and threatening them with the loss of their lives. Although she cannot actually kill them her captor the jinnee, will without a second thought. Though she is dominated by the jinnee, she has a power over the men she finds. This evens out the balance of power a little between the jinnee and the maiden. Women are made out to be awful, horrible creatures from which men should take cover. In Arabian Nights there are many passages in which women are negatively portrayed. For example, This only proves that all women will make cuckolds out of their husbands when given the chance...No man in this world is safe from the malice of women! (6) This is only one of many blatant sexist remarks in this text. Grossman takes the stance in her article, ...but my focus is not on the solipsistic narrator it is on narration as a social act undertaken in a specified context of events.(113) To me this means that she is focusing on what character is doing the narration in the context ... • 8. How I Changed My Family Essay Relationships are something that we all yearn for as humans. However there are instances where they are hard to keep. I grew up in Lynchburg Virginia and I had few people I considered friends. I wasn t a very social person and liked to keep to myself over being in the company of others. I was always the person that my friends went to when they needed someone to listen to them. The way a lot of my friendships went was I would listen to them, offer help, and see where it went. I was not the person who opened up real easy. I wasn t comfortable having others around except the few people I had considered my friends. The only person I really opened up to was my grandmother. I was closer to her then I was my parents. However due to issues with my parents I had to move to a new school in a new area leaving behind the few friends I had and my grandmother. Starting in 4th grade I had to change schools due to family issues. My friends Alana, Ashley, Emily, Chelsie claimed they understood why I was moving but I talked to them even less. It took me most of the year to make a new friend and I was a little more open with them. With this new friend I actually opened a little and talked to them about many things. When I finally got to move back to my old school the friends had almost forgotten me completely and had made new friends they told everything to. (Shafer Landau 209 222) is the material I have chosen to review for my final analysis paper. Homosexuality has been something that has plagued my generation with confusion and doubt. I grew up at the tail end of the AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) epidemic and can remember when major news networks were blaming homosexuals for the rapid spread of this particular disease. I have also seen the passing of many pro gay rights acts and in many ways this was my generation s civil rights advancement for future generations. Like most couples Corvino assumes that they must engage in sexual activity for the same reason that any heterosexual couple would that it is pleasurable. Sex can help unite a couple and open an avenue of growth that would only help to strengthen the bond between two people. One of the first major argument is that it is unnatural , Corvino easily dismisses this argument because under that explanation nothing is normal not clothing, organized religion or governments. The only thing that would be natural would be nature. In nature there are some species that do engage in homosexual activity. So by this natural standard it could not be used to reject Tommy and Jim. Another argument against homosexuals is that it is harmful to society through the spread of sexually transmitted diseases (STD), by denying population growth and how it harms our youth. The first issue is addressed by simple process of elimination if homosexual males are at the highest risk of getting an STD and lesbian women at the lowest risk. Than Corvino is able to challenge the argument by concluding that if you are only choosing a partner based on risk of disease than women should only be with other women as the risk is the lowest. However most people do not chose a partner based on these principles. As for the issue of not having sex for only procreation purposes is absurd. Even the Catholic church prohibits sex during pregnancy and for pleasure ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Themes in Frankenstein Essay Frankenstein deals with two main social concerns, the level of moral responsibility that a creator possesses in relation to his creation, as well as the issue of the moral boundaries that exists in one s quest for knowledge, including the fine line between good and bad knowledge, The novel also deals with two main human concerns, which include a person s goals or aspirations as well as the issue of pride and its affect on a person. Bad knowledge in contrast, is knowledge that is single minded, driven by personal gain, and possesses very little constraints. Pride is probably the most important human issue that Mary Shelley explores, with Frankenstein s search for knowledge being more a quest for glory than one that was going to genuinely benefit society. A new species would bless me as it creator and source NO father could claim the gratitude of his child so completely as I should deserve theirs. Frankenstein s pride is blatantly displayed, as he disregards, his family, friends and his environment to spend day and night creating the creature, only to become conscious of the fact that it s a monster. His pride is further shown by the fact that he let s an innocent woman die just to preserve his reputation by not speaking out. The way pride is portrayed in the novel indicates that society back then was heavily based on ones reputation and prestige. Goals or aspirations is closely tied in with the other issues discussed earlier, in that both Frankenstein and Walton seek glory, but both realise, Frankenstein the hard way that glory comes at a price, and risks need to be taken in order to achieve one s goal, but its up to that person to decide where the risk is too great. • 11. The United States Economy As The Global Economy From 2010 until the end of 2014 oil prices remained relatively constant. With very little fluctuation over these four years, the average price per barrel of oil was around 110 dollars. That price has been more than cut in half within the past year. The price for United States crude oil is now just 48 dollars a barrel, the lowest it has been since 2009 (BBC News). So what is the cause for this sudden change and to what effect will this have on the United States economy as well as the global economy? There are three core contributors that account for this sudden dip in oil prices. These contributors are a low demand for oil in many countries, specifically Europe, that is caused by a lack of economic growth, the increase in The United States oil production, and The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) increase in oil production. With many of Europe s economically struggling countries the increase in production of oil which in return yields lower prices has benefitted them. Europe s weak economy is able to contribute to this drop in oil prices in that Europe s currently low inflation rate and weak economy has greatly lessened the demand for oil. The lack of demand for oil in one of the most prominent import continents in the world has forced oil manufactures to lower their prices in order to retain Europe as a top oil export. Large oil exporters do not want to lose Europe as an export because that would also mean losing billions of dollars per year. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Comparison Of The BeatlesThe Beatles And The Rolling Stones The Beatles and the Rolling Stones first number one hit songs in the United States, I Want To Hold Your Hand and (I Can t Get No) Satisfaction were major players in the British Invasion, a musical revolution which saw a massive spike in the popularity of British artists and culture in America. Both songs hold some similarities, most notably in the composition of the instruments, along with some conventions seen in the genre. Yet, strong differences can be found in the vocals, lyrics and general tone of the songs, showing the separation between two rising subcultures in England. Although very similar in composition, the two bands display the growing rift between the mods and the rockers those who preferred the clean cut look and music inspired by the blues, and those who preferred the rebellious nature of a harder rock and roll. Both songs display a very similar make up as far as the band and instruments of choice. The core consists of two guitars, one for lead, and the other for helping maintain rhythm, a bass guitar and drums along with vocals. The difference here is seen in the instruments used to follow the beat. The Beatles utilized hand clapping in the background, standing out distinctly from the drums during a verse, and dissipating as the chorus starts. A good example of this can be heard at 0:07, running until 0:21 as the chorus leads in. The Rolling Stones takes a different approach, using a tambourine and keeping it on a consistent beat throughout the entire ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Psychologists might explain it as a conscious decision to pardon the actions of those who ve done wrong. Religious people might identify it as an attribute that we should all have. In Simon Wiesenthal s book The Sunflower, forgiveness is an important concept. Forgiveness is shown as an important concept to the story as it makes the reader question the forgiver s role, the importance of forgiveness, and the reason people ask for forgiveness. After talking to Bolek, Simon states, I became less and less certain as to whether I had acted rightly (Wiesenthal 83). This statement shows how Simon does not know whether what he did was right and how every person he talked to about his situation impacted his opinions. Forgiveness is such an important concept that it makes Wiesenthal ponder about his actions and ask for input from multiple different people. He felt as if he cannot be at peace until he comes to terms with his actions. The theory has implications for inequality within a country (Stopler Samuelson) and between countries (Factor Price Equalization). The Stopler Samuelson theory, which builds on the Heckscher Ohlin theory, predicts that with increased trade, the nation s abundant factor will gain and the scarce factor will lose. In terms of income inequality within a country this means that by increasing trade the lower income group, which control the abundant and cheap factor would realise an increase in income and the higher income group controlling the scarce resources would see a fall in income. The assertion by Stopler and Samuelson that increased trade would cause a decrease in inequality within a country is not strongly supported by empirical evidence. A study by Dollar and Kraay [2001] shows that in the period between 1960 and 1995, inequality has in fact slightly increased within countries that the authors have termed globalizers . Upon fulfillment of the four criteria, namely that the defendant has been unjustly enriched at the claimant s expense and there are no defences available for the defendant, a claimant will qualify for restitution of unjust enrichment as established in Banque Financiere de la Cite v Parc (Battersea) Ltd. Change of position is one of the numerous defences which may be used when it would be excessive to allow a restitution claim at the defendant s expense. This essay will evaluate the defence of change of position and reinforce the stance that it is adequately effective in protecting a defendant from hardship. The purpose of change of position is to balance out the hardships between claimant and defendant. In the landmark case of Lipkin Gorman v Karpnale, it states that if a claimant pays money to the defendant, who then uses the money or changes his position in good faith, it will be unjust to require the defendant to make restitution. This further solidified the status of change of position as an accepted choice of defence against a restitution claim. There are principles guiding change of position, rather than it being up to the courts discretion. On the first day, we tried to compare our findings to make sure everyone had a basic understanding of the BP Oil Spill. Then, we all did our research individually. • 29. Cannibalism Essay ABSTRACT Cannibalism is an act that is thought to be heinous and inconceivable in the minds of men. But, contrary to what many people think, cannibalism is very much alive and still being practiced within the continental United States of America; the thing is...the government just hasn t found out about it yet. This report will take you through the history of cannibalism, the different types of cannibalism, and the different cases of cannibalism. Cannibalism is one of the strangest and most horrific American taboos. When the common person thinks of cannibalism, a ballistic, deranged, serial killer who cuts his victims into pieces and boils them in bloody water quickly comes to mind. Cannibalism is precisely defined as the eating of one s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... in Anasazi Cannibalism? p. 1). All cannibalism is not the same. One way to classify cannibalism is by who is eaten. There are three ways: autocannibalism eating parts of oneself (not including common traits such as nail biting); exocannibalism the eating of outsiders or foreigners (such as invaders or enemies); and endocanniballism the eating of ones own social group. There are also functional types of cannibalism, based on why someone is eaten: survival cannibalism, religious or ritual cannibalism, and dietary or gastronomic cannibalism. Survival cannibalism is one type of cannibalism that clearly without a doubt has occurred and is well documented. quot;Simply put, survival cannibalism occurs when people are trapped without food in some way in a boat adrift on the ocean, on a mountain by snowfall and resort to eating other members of the group quot; (qtd. in The myths and perturbing realities of cannibalism p.1). The most notable case of survival cannibalism is the case of the Donner party of 1846. A group of 90 immigrants led by George Donner was caught in a blinding snowstorm high in the Sierra Nevada range of California in October 1846. Survivors, who made their way out early in 1847, had been forced to resort to eating the flesh of their comrades in order to survive. The survivors openly admitted to the media ... Black Friday Consumerism Minus Civilization Analysis Insane in the Membrane: Rhetorical Strategies in Leonard s Black Friday: Consumerism Minus Civilization As a country, America has forced the holidays to become a marketing technique. Valentine s Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas seem like just another way for companies to make even more money than before. In the essay, Black Friday: Consumerism Minus Civilization by Andrew Leonard published on wwnorton.com/write/fieldguidelinks, he argues the point that Black Friday and Black Friday advertisements are taking away from Thanksgiving. Leonard s argument was somewhat effective. He may have influenced American shoppers to focus less on the deals of black friday and to instead spend the time with their family on Thanksgiving as it should be. ... Feelings are one of the best things to use when trying to convince people to believe something. With this specific quote he is trying to show people just how drawn in they are. They waiting in line outside on a holiday just to save a little bit of money, while on their cellular phones. He then declares these acts as insanity, which makes the reader question themself on their sanity. Most of the article speaks on the sanity of people within the advertisements, the main one being The Crazy Target Lady. In his essay he says, The Crazy Target Lady is not a joke. Plea Bargains In Prisons American prison food was already subpar to begin with, but with budget cuts and efforts to save money, many prisons and companies chose to make cuts with the quality and amounts of food given to the prisoners. The Schuylkill County Prison in Pennsylvania was sued for not feeding their inmates enough to feed a child (Santo Iaboni, 2015). Some prisons, and private companies, generally go by a calorie minimum that must be provided, which sometimes allow for prisoners to only get two meals a day, these meals can cost as low as 56 cents per meal, and supposedly these menus are being reviewed by a nutritionist (Santo Iaboni, 2015). The major interest has been the optimization of recursive queries. Ceri et al~cite{ceri gottlob tanca 1989} provide an excellent summary of the field. The evaluation or comparison of optimization strategies is typified by Bancilhon and Ramakrishnan~cite{br1986,br1988} who develop analytical cost models for the optimization strategies when applied to four queries (related to the parent and ancestor relations) and then generate numerical data from the analytical models using synthetic data driven by three shapes tree, inverted tree, and cylinder for the ``family ... External Impacts Political and Legal impacts The author believes that the government and European taxes are the main political factors that can affect the future of the company. Airport taxes are levied as a fixed tax on the sale of airline seats in most of the countries where easyJet operates. The UK government had established one of the highest taxes in Europe Air Passenger Duty (APD). In 2008, the APD tax is charged at £10 £20 for flights within Europe and at £40 £80 for long haul flights. (Osborne, 2008). At that time the company takes out an advertisement in the UK national newspaper for making the APD tax greener and free of subsidies to airlines with transfer passengers. EasyJet takes action to replace the APD tax with a flight base tax. This means that the passengers that fly in the newest aircraft cause less pollution and they

The East Asian economic crisis is the most important economic event in the region of the past few decades. That much is agreed. Beyond this, there is yet no unanimity about its root causes nor about the solutions. The differences of views are being debated in academic and policy circles and reflected in the media. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In an attempt to blame the crisis solely on the affected countries, intellectual quot;flip flops quot; were made. Features that had been toasted as strengths were overnight concerted into evils. For example, the countries had been praised (indeed, over praised) for having strong linkages between the public and private sectors. Today, that is totally condemned as the fatal flaw of crony capitalism. As an alternative to mainly blaming the countries, there rapidly developed another view of how the crisis emerged and spread. This view put the blame on the developments of the global financial system, with the combination of the following features: Financial deregulation and liberalisation across the world (as the legal basis); The increasing interconnection of markets and speed of transactions through computer technology (as the technological basis); and The development of large institutional financial players (such as the speculative hedge funds, the investment banks, and the huge mutual and pension funds). This combination has led to the rapid shifting of large blocks of short term capital flowing across borders in search of quick and high returns, to the tune of US$2 trillion a day. The circle of faith in action began with the king s awareness of his people s suffering, then he analyzed his options to help, finally he acted by removing his jewels to help those in need. From America s beginning, it has never been a respectful society; be it Native Americans, the poor, or minorities, America has always trampled upon their rights. America only respects power and wealth the two usually go hand and hand for it is through power that profit can be made. America is known for several controversies regarding respect for its inhabitants over its relatively short history; although these controversies have ended, there remains much contempt for those who struggled. America s poor seem to be afflicted by a de facto sense of poverty, in that their homes, educational opportunities, and employment follow and circular pattern of failure. Americans depose those with a background of poverty, seeing them as virtually useless for the betterment of the nation. Through the nation s ideals, America has become a disrespectful country, favoring only those who can contribute . In conclusion, America seems to be at war with itself and its inhabitants at all times, a seeming paradox, in which the nation is torn between justice and injustice. To have justice in America, one usually thinks of being generous, the real solution is to be aware of the suffering of others. In terms of respect America seems to be lacking; the disrespect of America seems to be a manifestation of our own problems.
