discussed how there was a lack of monitoring vital signs in critically ill patients in Cape Town, South
Africa. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to enhance the modified early warning scoring
system, known as the MEWS chart, so that team of physicians and nurses in surgical wards could have
better understanding in identifying and monitoring the critically ill patients. According to this article,
the MEWS chart was started to develop in 1997 in the United Kingdom by the individuals named
Morgan, Williams, and Wright. They were the first to develop this chart based on the five
physiological parameters, that were heart rate, systolic blood pressure, respiratory rate, temperature,
and conscious level, in which later, two additional parameters were added, which were oxygen
saturation and urine output (Kyriacos et al. 3). The participants for this research were the physicians
and nurses from surgical wards, and more than 70% of them agreed to improve the chart (Kyriacos et
al 1). This research was conducted by the method of consensus; where doctors and nurses finally agree
to have five of the seven physiological parameters in the MEWS chart, which include respiratory rate,

Didion s tone was serious, ominous, and dark, and was very different from Thomas s tone which was
more positive. Although acknowledging the destructive nature of the fires caused by the Santa Ana
winds, Thomas generally talked about positive results of the fires. She describes the amazing sight of
the fire as she watches the flames lick up a hillside and ends the essay by reminding the reader that the
chaparral will return. By this, she means that many of the plants in chaparral country need the heat of

in. Didion has a very different tone regarding the winds. She describes the various hints of change

to make the reader feel a similar feeling to the uneasiness that the Southern California natives feel.

It is known that the use of cell phones while driving decreases driver awareness and overall road
safety, and in response to this knowledge, some states have passed laws that have prohibited the use of
handheld devices. However, there are no laws banning hands free cell phone usage, despite research

In the film 12 Angry Men, a group of twelve jurors are deciding the fate of a young boy accused of
murdering his father. Throughout the juries dilleration, one man exhibits all of the qualities of
leadership. This man is juror number 8 played by Henry Fonda. Fonda not only exhibits the the 10
qualities of a leader but he uses these qualities to lead the entire jury to a vote of not guilty (Fonda

Early on in the film Fonda shows the first quality of leadership vision. Vision can be defined as the

For Fonda the entire film is him doing just that. Being that Fonda what the only one at the beginning
to vote not guilty, he used his enthusiasm to bring the rest of the jurors over to his way of think. A
good example of this is how he convinced juror number 9 (the old man) that there could be doubt in
the witness that was an older gentleman like he was. By showing juror 9 that there were flaws in the
evidence and the witnesses he was able to gain another follower. His enthusiasm for getting the ruling
right is what drove him to be able to make this happen time and time again with every juror (Fonda

Next we are introduced to Fonda s leadership quality of Stability. Stability is the quality of a leader to
discern emotions from fact and keep personal beliefs separate from the task at hand (book). In the film

it s always difficult to keep personal prejudice out of a thing like this (Fonda Lumet, 1957). In this
statement he is showing his own abilities to discern what prejudice is and how he is trying to keep it

The fifth quality of leadership expressed by Fonda in the film was that of Concern for Others. In this

After beginning to read The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky, I have realized that this
is definitely a story about growing up and just facing the trials of being a teenager. The book is made
up of letters written from the point of view of a freshman in highschool named Charlie. He is a very
interesting and dynamic character but, he is also very relatable. In many ways he is similar to the

County Derry, Northern Ireland, the eldest of eight children. In 1963, he began teaching at St. Joseph s
College in Belfast.
The first poem I ll be looking at is digging it was written in
1966.
The poem consists of 9 stanzas that vary between two lines and five lines in length. There is no pattern
to the stanzas, perhaps to reflect the idea that there is no pattern or predictability to our memories. In
the poem there is quite a variation in the language e.g. the title is blunt. It is only when we have read

He was also proud of his grandfather, who was so keen to work that he hardly stopped when Heaney
brought him some milk. To drink it, and then fell to right away this show how hard he worked. His
work was precise nicking and slicing neatly and he was strong heaving sods over his shoulder.
Heaney does not explain exactly why he has no spade to follow men like them . Does he think he is
not physically strong enough for the work? Or does he think his father and grandfather may not
approve of him cultivating the land.
There is quite a lot of alliteration in digging e.g. curd cuts digging down and down and the squelch
and slap of soggy peat this gives the poem life it makes it more interesting to read. The opening simile
is striking Heaney s pen is snug as a gun . It shows how perfectly the pen fits his hand, this shows how
well suited Heaney is to write. (In the fourth stanza, Heaney describes how perfectly his father s body
is in tune with the spade, showing how well suited he is to dig.) The gun image also suggests the
strength of the pen, it is a weapon for writing.
There is a writing technique called enjambment which means lines in a poem that run on from on to
another without a punctuation or pause.

I was home on leave after serving 15 months in Iraq, spending time with my family and connecting
with people I haven t seen in a while. My mother arranged for me to speak to my brother s 3rd grade
class since they had written letters to me while I was deployed. It was something I felt that I owed
since the letters were cheerful and really helped when I was over there. I was a bit nervous because I
have never done something like this before, public speaking was not a strong suit of mine. While
visiting with the students and answering questions I fell in love with being in the classroom. After
finishing my commitment to the military, I continued my education and got my degree in Elementary
Education. I am currently finishing up my 3rd year in teaching 2nd grade and love every minute of it.
Critical thinking is something that should be taking place during every lesson. I engage my students in
this higher level order thinking by asking multi level questions that may have more than one answer. I
also foster thoughtful discussions during out social learning lessons, such as encouraging healthy
debate. Being able to communicate and elaborate their thinking is important. Because I teach at the
primary level so sometimes in order to get students to engage in critical thinking, I have to model it

Cleanthes argument from design in Dialogues concerning Natural Religion is trying to prove that there
is a deity which exists and which is similar to humans in our mind and intelligence. This argument
from design can be dated back to Plato and later, Aquinas in the Summa Theologica . Cleanthes
However, Cleanthes argument does not fully prove that the deity is a theological Christian God as it
does not prove his omniscience and his omnipotent nature shown in biblical texts. The infinite nature
of God is also unstable as it is not fully proven and therefore can easily be criticised. The argument is
therefore providing a necessary but not sufficient condition for a theological God.
Cleanthes argument is structured with two propositions which lead to a logical conclusion. The first
proposition is that things made by us seem to have a specific purpose which suggests a creator. This is
followed by the universe appearing to have a purpose so therefore the universe must have a creator.
This argument relies heavily on an analogy which is comparing our everyday lives and experiences
within the world and universe to the origin of the world and how it was originally created. The

My mother arranged for me to speak to my brother s 3rd grade class since they had written letters to me while I was deployed. It was something I felt that I owed since the letters were cheerful and really helped when I was over there. I was a bit nervous because I have never done something like this before, public speaking was not a strong suit of mine. While visiting with the students and answering questions I fell in love with being in the classroom. After finishing my commitment to the military, I continued my education and got my degree in Elementary Education. I am currently finishing up my 3rd year in teaching 2nd grade and love every minute of it. Critical thinking is something that should be taking place during every lesson. I engage my students in this higher level order thinking by asking multi level questions that may have more than one answer. I also foster thoughtful discussions during out social learning lessons, such as encouraging healthy debate. Being able to communicate and elaborate their thinking is important. Because I teach at the primary level so sometimes in order to get students to engage in critical thinking, I have to model it through discussion or through work.
