The Main Factors And Effects Of The Movement Of Modernism
The movement of modernism is a movement that has been associated with the transformation of the
western societies through development of industrial societies that then resulted to the development of
cities. It is a movement that was conceived through the need to develop after the catastrophic events of
the world wars. One of the main factors that the modernism has influenced is the aspect of
architecture. The movement was developed as a way to reject and relinquish the traditional procedures
of planning and adopting better and new methods that are capable of improving the social condition of
people .
The movement first began in Europe and later spread to the United States of America. It was as a
result of the availability of democracy in these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is an aspect that reshaped people s perceptions of life which have influenced the way they perceive
art, culture as well as politic. The modernism movement began in the eighteenth century mainly as a
result of the advancement in technology and industrial revolution that helped change the perception
humans had on life. The aspect of modernism began in Europe and soon spread to other countries,
most notably the United States of America. As a result in the changes in the world, there was also a

An analysis of how dikh (‘justice’) and its associated...
An analysis of how dikh ( justice ) and its associated values are presented and translated in two
passages from Sophocles: Electra.
What broader issues are raised and how would these be investigated further? The concept of dikh, or
justice has many subtle meanings and variations in Ancient Greek ranging from the primary definition
given in LS (Liddell and Scotts, Greek English Lexicon , Intermediate,
1889, page 202) of custom to right, judgement, lawsuit, penalty and vengeance. The OCD
(Hornblower S, Oxford Classical Dictionary, 1996,
Page 469) reference to Likh describes it as the, personification of justice and the daughter of Zeus that,
reports men s wrongdoing to
Zeus .
Sophocles rendition of the tragic play ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is strange, especially as the remaining children conspire and eventually murder those responsible
for their father s death. They presumably feel otherwise. In just this one passage justice is used to
mean custom, just, revenge and vengeance.
The second extract follows immediately after the news of Orestes death
(Ibid., pg 91) when Clytaemnestra, after a brief moment of sorrow is joyous at the news that her life is
now safe. In contrast we see that
Electra is devastated (Ibid., line 789) at the news. The idea of justice and revenge is brought to a
climax here as Clytaemnestra feels that, Justice is done to him . Would this be justice to Orestes for
not doing his duty or to Agamemnon for sacrificing his child? This compares well with the previous
passage where Clytaemnestra accuses
Electra of not doing her duty (Ibid., pg 84, line 526). Electra cries out to Likh, Goddess of Vengeance,
hear and speak for the dead .
It is clear from the many interpretations of dikh and its use in
Sophocles Electra that other, broader issues can be raised. The very concepts of justice, revenge,
honour and custom are exposed in detail. Understanding these issues and the language used requires
further study of the period, language, laws, customs and traditions.
The most important issue raised by this play is that of how do we (or more specifically the Greeks
watching the play) feel about matricide

Instant Noodles
CHAPTER I PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND A. INTRODUCTION Instant noodles, a
steamed and deep oil fried noodle that is also known as ramen in Japan and ramyon in Korea,
originated in Japan in the 1950s and are currently produced in over 80 countries. As of 2008,
approximately 93.6 billion servings of instant noodles have been consumed worldwide. Chinese
consumed 45.2 billion packages of instant noodles in 2008, representing 51% of the global
consumption of instant noodles, whereas Indonesians consumed 13.7 billion packages, Japanese
consumed 5.1 billion packages, Americans consumed 4.3 billion packages, and South Koreans

nutritious food, like mixed some vagetables and give energy for our body. ➢ To give some knowledge
for all mankind. ➢ To the future researchers, for this will serve as their future resource material.
CHAPTER II REVIEW ON RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES A. RELATED
LITERATURE From the time Momofuku Ando developed the first instant noodles, they have
dominated the noodle industry, and its effects can still be seen today. Their main customers are the
college students and other people who are always on the go, people who do not have time to cook
breakfast, or people who are lazy to. Furthermore, according to english.ndtv.com there have been high
amounts of plasticizers in instant noodles in China. The process of making the noodles is what affects
the water absorbency of the noodles. In fact according to Beijing time progress technology
development co. LTD., instant noodles are made out of a variety of doughs, which are formed to make
noodles, cooked, then deep fried in oil. They are then put through air knives, which does not however,
remove all the oil. This is why instant noodles contain such high amounts of oil, which causes kidney
stones, and prevents it from absorbing water. Oil is not the only unhealthy

Essay On Caravaggesque
Artemisia Gentileschi and her art are finally receiving deserved scholarly attention. While much
remains to be written about her, a great deal has been done to clarify her oeuvre since Roberto Longhi
s pioneering efforts in 1916. Some of the underlying assumptions that guided Longhi in his evaluation
of Artemisia Gentileschi and his attempt to set forth an oeuvre for her still dominate our thinking
about her art. Primary among them is Artemisia s role as a caravaggesca, that is, her place as a
follower of Caravaggio. In fact, initial viewing and evaluations of her work were done in the context
of Caravaggio: before 1991, her work was seen almost exclusively in exhibitions devoted to assessing
Caravaggio s influence and in surveys of his followers.
Caravaggio was a revolutionary artist who used nature as the primary model in his paintings by
recording the imperfections of the physical world and its inhabitants. Caravaggio s influence is
credited with luring other artists to follow him in his use of darkened grounds and the substitution of
the commonplace for more nobly conceived figures in idealized settings. The term caravaggesque,
however, encompasses a range of qualities, including the recreation of tactile surfaces, the use of
focused light sources that penetrate darkened interiors to bring isolated figures and objects into raised
relief, the practice of designing and then painting compositions directly onto the canvas without
preparatory drawings, and the

The intent of this investigation is to evaluate the degree to which Henry Kissinger s diplomatic actions
with China during his position of National Security Advisor and Secretary of State affected the
relations between the two world superpowers of the period time between the years of 1969 to 1977,

the top secret talks of Henry Kissinger with Beijing and Moscow through declassified transcripts. The
origin of this source is the National Security Archive, along with expert commentary written by
William Burr, who received his Ph.D. in history. The purpose of the book is to help others understand
the diplomacy of Henry Kissinger, who is considered to be one of the most influential figures of the
Cold War era. Because these transcripts were formerly classified, they offer insights and new pieces of
information that has not been seen by the public. It is valuable in that it offers both sides of the
conversation, so the reader could see the conversations that have changed history unfold. The
limitation of the document lies in the analysis portions of the book, due to the bias that William Burr

The s Mini Research Paper Essay
Santa Iglesia Advanced English 1, Per. 7 14 November 2016 OMS Mini Research Paper The word
man has a very simple definition: an adult male ( The Definition ). However, there are many symbols
and meanings being it. A Native American picture known as Man in a Maze, originally called I itoi,
depicts a man standing at the entrance of a maze. At the center is the man s dreams where God greets
him and passes him into the next world. The center is not easy to reach, for there are many twists and
turns in the maze itself. The maze symbolizes life and the difficulties man has to go through to reach
the end and move on. In this instance man is naive, but represents strength, and must go through the
challenges faced through existence in order to find the way to the finish ( The Symbol ). Another
simple, yet very complex word beyond its basic definition, is old . The book definition of old is to
have existed for a long time ( I Found ). The word old is associated with wisdom because a lot of
experience is thought to be gained during long periods of time. When combining the two words, old
and man, a new and very intricate symbol is made. Old man symbolizes wisdom of humanity and the
power of great knowledge. The phrase old man is also associated with high status and special powers
because with great wisdom comes significant respect from less experienced individuals (Cirlot). Joe
DiMaggio was a famous baseball player for the Yankees and was nicknamed Yankee Clipper who

George Zimmerman s Case
George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch leader, was driving to Target to run a errand on the night
of February 26, 2012 when he observed a suspicious person, leisurely walking in the rain, looking at
all the houses, wearing a grey hoodie as he would tell dispatch in his 911 call made at 7:09 p.m.
Moments later an altercation occurred between Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin, which left Trayvon
dead from a single gunshot wound to his chest and Zimmerman with a bloody nose and a cut to the
back of his head. Zimmerman asserted that the shooting was done in self defense because he thought
Trayvon was reaching for his ( Zimmerman s ) concealed gun and he feared for his life. Eye witness
accounts of the event backed his claim that Trayvon was hitting him, but Rachel Jeantel, who had been

They went after the prosecution s star witness and discredited her. They offered eyewitness testimony
that the prosecution could not refute or cast any doubt on. They also offered Zimmeraman s personal
trainer as a witness who explained that Zimmerman was weak which showed that Zimmerman had no
way out of the fight other than lethal force. I think the only thing that the defense did incorrectly was
to not ask for immunity under the Stand Your Ground law. I don t see the judge ruling against the
defense because of the facts of the case.
The prosecution s theory of the case as they outlined in their opening statement was the Zimmerman
suffered no serious injury in the fight and that he was a liar and a wanna be cop who concluded, with
little evidence to support it, that Trayvon was someone who was about to commit a crime in his
neighborhood . The defense s theory of the case was that Trayvon sucker punched and struck
Zimmerman s head against the ground. The defense contended that the evidence would show that
Zimmerman shot Trayvon from below, with Trayvon s shirt hanging down over his client s prone

Umbilical Cord Blood Harvesting
I. Introduction A. Attention getting opener: There is a critical need for effective, long term solutions
for harvesting stem cells. Already there are more than 300,000 units stored worldwide. These products
have been banked under stringent quality conditions, in order to ensure their safety and efficacy,
(Vladareanu, Mihailescu Zvanca, 20070, p. 142). B. Credibility statement: Abundant research shows
that harvesting stem cells from umbilical cord blood offers crucial advantages over other methods,
including bone marrow and peripheral blood. C. Thesis: Although not an ideal medium for harvesting,
and will not replace other types of stem cell sources, umbilical cord blood should be an integral part of
the blood/tissue bank repertoire. II. Advantages of using umbilical cord blood. A. Immunology 1.
Umbilical cord blood (UCB) contains stem and progenitor cells capable of restoring haematopoietic
and immunological function in vivo, (Navarette Contreras, 2009, p. 236). 2. Umbilical cord blood
stem cells can be transplanted to regenerate a patient s immune system, (Vladareanu, Mihailescu
Zvanca, 20070, p. 142). B. Pre frozen/cryopreservation 1. cryopreservation allows for the storage of
stem cells for future use, eliminating need for searching for suitable donor 2. Especially true when
minorities need transplants (Samuel, et. Al, 2007). C. Advantages over other forms of stem cell 1.
Bone marrow cell harvesting may be detrimental due to the

Real World Aggression
1. I think that media violence definitely contributes to real world aggression especially for younger
children. When people watch war movies or television shows, they tend to act more aggressively. For
young children, it is something they want to copy in real life when they play with friends. People more
likely to mimic what they saw on media and copy the behavior in real life. There are some criminals
who are not socially friendly, watch violence television shows or play war games, go out and kill
others just like when they playing games. Some people have trouble differentiating the real life and
the media world.

addition we had to test the subjects ventilatory response during rest and recovery. In this experiment,
we have two subjects with different fitness levels, which fortunately make the subject pool in this
experiment very diverse. In addition, the purpose of this experiment is to determine the relationship

subject are equal. In this experiment, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first problem was we had an all male subject pool and no females, which makes our test only
focused on male ventilator response. Also we did not use the syringe correctly the first time and so we
recorded 0.8 L/min VeSTDP for subject 1 and 10 L/min VeSTDP for subject 2 but that might be
because we allowed gas to escape when we were using the equipment incorrectly, which means that
VeSTDP results might be inaccurate. Also during the experiment, there was a little miscommunication,
because at one point we left Subject 1 unattended after we close the lock on the Douglass bag, and
Subject 1 ended up choking on exhaled air for a moment and Subject 1 at one point in the experiment
wasn t pedaling to the beep of the metronome and, as a result of that incident, there is a chance that
some result in this experiment maybe inaccurate, due to the fact most us in the experiment are first

skillful handling and has its own sources of error (Rosdahl, H., Gullstrand, L., Salier Eriksson, J.,
Johansson, P., Schantz, P. (2010)). In addition, during this experiment, there was a time limit of about
an hour and a half to finish this experiment and get all the result without error. As result of our time
limitations, we feel that possibly there could be minor errors in gathering

Empirical Formula of Zinc Iodide
Objectives
Upon completion of this experiment, students should have learned:
1. The law of conservation of mass.
2. How to calculate an empirical formula.
3. The concept of limiting reagents.
Introduction
Synthesis and the determination of empirical formulas are two extremely important parts of chemistry.
In this experiment, you will synthesize zinc iodide and determine its empirical formula. The molecular
formula gives the actual number of atoms of each element in the molecule and the empirical formula
gives the lowest whole number ratio of the atoms in the molecule. For instance, the molecular formula
of glucose is C6H12O6 and its empirical formula is CH2O. For some ... Show more content on

For instance, sodium chloride and sodium oxide should be and are NaCl and Na2O respectively.
Aluminum chloride and aluminum oxide should be and are AlCl3 and Al2O3. When there are multiple
oxidation states of a metal, more than one compound is possible. For instance, copper and oxygen
form Cu2O and CuO and more information are needed to distinguish between the two. When naming
a copper oxide, it is very important that the name distinguish between the two possibilities [copper(I)
oxide or cuprous oxide and copper(II) oxide or cupric oxide].
Care must be exercised as chemistry often contains wonderful surprises. Suppose the percent by mass
experiment for an iron oxide results in 72.36% Fe by mass and 27.64% O by mass. Following the
procedure above, results in a molar ratio of 1.296:1.727. Division by the lowest number, results in a
mole ratio of 1:1.33. For cases like this, the next step is to multiply by the lowest whole number that
converts each of the subscripts to a whole number. Thus the formula is Fe3O4. As iron has two
oxidation states (+2, +3), the expected formula is either FeO of Fe2O3. Anytime a result that is
inconsistent with expectations is obtained, the first and immediate step should be to recheck all the
data and calculations. In this case, the results are real and Fe3O4 is a known compound often called
magnetite. Understanding the oxidation state of iron in this compound

Translation Of Evidence And Practice
Translation of Evidence to Practice Does the compliance with a sedation protocol improve after nurses
receive a sedation competency over a three month period? The available data supported the hypothesis
that nursing education and competency can lead to consistent best practices and positive outcomes for
patients. The answers to this research question can help develop interventions that support best
practices for patients who are mechanically ventilated and receiving intravenous sedation. The
literature supported a positive impact on patient outcomes when sedation awakening trials (SAT) and
spontaneous breathing trials (SBT) were coordinated (Klompas et al., 2015, Woien Bjork, 2012,
Woien, Vaeroy, Aamodt, Bjork, 2012). The literature also supported the compliance of the
coordination was more predictable when the nursing division was provided with protocol education
(Klompas et al., 2015, Woien Bjork, 2012, Woien, Vaeroy, Aamodt, Bjork, 2012). The summation of
findings indicates that when education was integrated with the research methods, the outcomes related
to nursing compliance were consistent and led to the completion of best practices. Nursing education
was a controlled variable in research that found a positive correlation with SAT and SBT and
outcomes for patients. Additionally, research without this controlled variable found inconsistencies
with the performance of SAT/SBT and related outcomes. As a result, the particular relationship

My Memories Of Reading
My earliest memories as a reader are limited. You see, I am that student that came to school daily in
flight or fight mode. My father was an abusive parent, mentally, physically, and sexually. He was also
an alcoholic. My years from kindergarten to second grade are vague, with the exceptions of a few
prominent memories and feelings of being constantly scared. My year in first grade, my mother made
the decision to leave. One night, while my father was out drinking, my mother s co worker came in a
U haul truck, we loaded up the truck and left. After approximately three weeks into our new lives, my
father found us. He would pick us up from our new school, take us to his friend s house and call my
mother to let her know he had us. He would have us talk to her and then he would end the call
threatening to keep us from her indefinitely. They finally divorced and my mother married her co
worker, Tom, who had helped us leave our father. He bought a home for us, in a stable neighborhood,
and I began another new school in second grade. My first prominent memory of reading happened in
second grade. I remember receiving a reading anthology book and being able to read the stories. I can
remember the thrill of having this ability to not only see the letters, but know that they made words
and understood what they meant. This did not begin my love of reading but my ability to read. My
love of reading had been modeled for me from birth. My mother had always been an avid reader in the

Anti Retroviral Drugs For Hiv Essay
HIV is a virus that affects all parts of the globe. However, there are two major global epidemics. The
first being in the west and developing countries. In these areas the pattern of infection is found in
certain groups. These groups being drug injectors, gay men and prostitutes (Pisani p. ) This epidemic
is known as the concentrated epidemic . This particular pattern HIV spreads rapidly in a concentrated
groups. This is because you are most likely to pass on the virus when you are in the first stage of HIV.
In a concentrated tight knit group of people who are having several sex partners and sharing needles
with others it is easy for the virus to be transmitted. The other epidemic pattern is seen in east and
southern Africa as well as some parts of east Africa and the Caribbean. This pattern is also known as
generalised epidemic . This pattern is different because HIV is in the general population appose to a
concentrated population.
2. There are three different classes of anti retroviral drugs for HIV: a) The first class of drugs are
called the entry inhibitors. The entry inhibitors inhibit the HIV virus to bind to the T helper cells, also
called the CD4 T cells. In order for these cells to become infected the virus, the virus has to bind and
enter them. If the binding is eliminated therefore the virus can not enter the cell. b) The second is
called, integrase inhibitors. Once the virus has entered the host cell, it replicates it s DNA into the cell.

messages directly to its specific target customers without huge spending on advertisement. The article
mentioned the targeting, though not completely the segmentation, of 8 Securities. The company
strategically targeted at young, tech savvy people who use the social network. Referring to Table 1
below, 8 Security aimed about 46% (1.6 million) of the total Facebook users in Hong Kong. As such,
its marketing promotion through the most popular online social network channel is proven most

Investing in real estate is as advantageous and as attractive as investing in the stock market. I would
say it has three times more prospects of making money than any other business. But, But, But... since,
it is equally guided by the market forces; you cannot undermine the constant risks involved in the real
estate. Let me begin discussing with you the advantages of real estate investments. I found the
advantages as most suited and really practical.
Advantages
Real Estate Investments are Less Risky
As compared to other investments, less of misadventure is involved in a real estate property. I will not
get away from the fact that just like any investment you make; you have the risk of losing it. Real
estate investments are traditionally considered a stable and rich gainer, provided if one takes it
seriously and with full sagacity. The reasons for the real estate investments becoming less risky
adventure primarily relate to various socio economic factors, location, market behavior, the population
density of an area;

Hip Hop vs Punk
The fashion aspect in Hip Hop and Punk is very distinctive. Throughout Hips Hop s history, the
fashion trends have evolved, but the concept of Hip Hop fashion has always remained conceptually
unchanged. This has given birth to a few varieties among Hip Hop fashion according to their
respective generations and choice of self expression through the four pillars of Hip Hop which are
Bboying (dance), MC/Rap (music), DJ (music) and Graffiti Art (visual art). The varieties of fashion
within the Punk culture differ from Hip Hop in a different aspect. While Hip Hop s fashion
alternatives were born from historical factors within the cultural aspects, Punk s sense of fashion
stems from the different mentalities that exist within the Punk subculture. ... Show more content on

Since the establishment of the Hip Hop Culture, many dance styles have emerged during and after Hip
Hop s development, some of these styles are popping, Krumping and house. The Punk scene have also
developed dances unique to their culture, most noticeable is the Pogo. The Pogo is a dance where the
dancers jump up and down while remaining in the same location. There are occasions where the
dancers might bump each other. This gave birth to another Punk dance called Moshing where the
dancers deliberately bump against each other. The differences in dancing among Hip Hop and Punks
are not limited by the styles and music, but the community s lifestyle. Punk dancers, dance as a group
while Bboys take turns dancing in a circle. Visual arts in Hip Hop and Punk take a very different path
depending on the cultures goal. Graffiti Art is the usage of spray paint and pen markers to express
individuality through Hip Hop s philosophy of peace, love, unity and having fun by colors and
abstract texts or drawings. Punk visual art however is focused towards album covers, posters and
flyers designed to invoke empathy and sometimes contempt among readers and viewers by calling
upon issues such as social injustice. Literature and poetry are qualities that both cultures possess but
they differ in mediums. Hip Hop s literature and poetry is effectively shown the ability of the MC s
(singers) to combine words together to form rhymes while Punks have generated a

Socio-Emotional Development
Physical, Cognitive, and Socio Emotional developments are ones that every growing individual goes
through. The EDC 307 course specifically focuses on these developments in middle childhood and
adolescence. This course has taught me an enormous amount about each of those stages. I learned that
in middle childhood, cognitive development entails changes in self concept, the child relates their real
self to an ideal self that they created. However, in adolescence the cognitive changes are centered
around egocentrism and abstract thinking. As for physical development, in middle childhood the
changes are few, slow, and regular. Puberty is the most significant physical change that happens
during adolescence, ad it happens fast and suddenly . Socio emotional development concerns social
behaviors with peers and loved ones. During middle childhood, kids normally judge themselves based
on the opinions of their peers, parents, and teachers. I found out that this differs in adolescence in that
teenagers try to find their real identity regardless of opinions. Although I mentioned a few things that I
learned in this course, it is only a small percentage of all that I have actually acquired. Moving on in
my life, this information will be a great beneficial factor not only in my career, but in my personal life
as well. If I end up working with kids, it will help me better understand them and, in turn,
communicate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Animals Of Animal Animals
The animals of this world exist for their own reasons. They were not made for humans anymore than
black people were made for whites. Alice Walker There are many fears in the world, for one animals
are afraid of us. They probably think that we humans would hurt them. And they re actually right, we
use them for clothes, food, transportation and entertainment. For me, these are really good valid
reasons to be afraid. Throughout the years, there have been many adjustment in how to treat animals,
which include animal rights.People shouldn t abuse the power of an animal in its habitat, especially if
it is not in its unoriginal habitat. Not only is it missing out on having a natural environment, but also it

However, the park instead chooses to stick with the same inhumane business model that it has used for
50 years, despite all the violent and deadly incidents and evidence of harm. In an article by the
Huffington Post by Brianna Elliott, it gives a viewpoint on how some people treat animals like objects
and not human beings which means, as humans sometimes we forget how to deal with situations as so.
Also, to prove that a picture is enough to see how some animals deaths go unnoticed. ( 1). In addition,
fewer than 5% to 10% of zoos and aquaria are involved in substantial conservation programs. The

details are given which would allow the calculation of animal days or years.

A Very Brief History Of Tequila s Culture
History of Tequila
During a period of time in Tequila s history, it was only a drink for bandidos and rancheros. As North
America s first distilled drink, and its first commercially produced alcohol, the history of tequila is
long and rich. Mezcal wine, tequila s grandparent, was first produced only a few decades after the
Conquest that brought the Spaniards to the New World in 1521. It was variously called mezcal brandy,
agave wine, mezcal tequila and finally simply tequila appropriately named after Tequila, a small town
in a valley in Jalisco state, Mexico. Agave, the plant from which tequila is distilled, played a much
larger role than just being the source of an alcoholic drink. Distillation of pulque, tequila s distant

friend Cassius. After Caesars death everything started to change. Antony went to entreat his life to
Brutus, pleading with him after all he was the one who stabbed a knife at his close friend, Caesar.
Which then questions was Antony truly noble? He did swear his allegiance to Brutus, but for what
purpose? Probably to save his life, but it has no good in it if he were to die for Caesar just leaving his
memories and reputation. Antony saving his life is not only for him but for Caesars benefit. By Antony
convincing Brutus that he s in his side, he was able to make his funeral speech. In Antonys speech he
used repetition, But Brutus says he was ambitious and Brutus is an honorable man . Each time he
repeated that phrase, Caesar seemed less ambitious and Brutus less honorable, but until Brutus was

suffering. He lost all of his allies, his best friend, his wife killed herself, and also Rome itself. This
plays as if Brutus has stabbed himself in the back for betraying Caesar while Antony was just hurt for
the death of his best friend. Brutus was filled with regret, guilt and the country he were to protect was
even against him. As of Antony he had just lost the one person he had always been loyal

approaches. The purpose of this paper is to compare two sources of the motivations concerning why
people behave the way they do. Sigmund Freud s psychoanalytic approach will be discussed and

and accounts of specific attacks and counterattacks that happened within the battle as well. To write
the book Neiberg used several primary sources, which enhanced the overall detail of the book. There
were a few parts that were confusing in the beginning of the book where he compares the First Battle
of the Marne to the second and how the Armies and countries were different in their techniques, skills,

The objectives of the Mercury Project, as stated at the time of project go ahead, were as follows:
Place a manned spacecraft in orbital flight around the earth.
Investigate man s performance capabilities and his ability to function in the environment of space.
Recover the man and the spacecraft safely. After the objectives were established for the project, a
number of guidelines were established to insure that the most expedient and safest approach for
attainment of the objectives was followed. The basic guidelines that were established are as follows:

An automatic blood pressure measuring system for use in flight.
Instruments for sensing the partial pressures of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the oxygen atmosphere

of the weight and volume constraints, of course, resulted in smaller and lighter equipment that could

  • 3. An analysis of how dikh (‘justice’) and its associated... An analysis of how dikh ( justice ) and its associated values are presented and translated in two passages from Sophocles: Electra. What broader issues are raised and how would these be investigated further? The concept of dikh, or justice has many subtle meanings and variations in Ancient Greek ranging from the primary definition given in LS (Liddell and Scotts, Greek English Lexicon , Intermediate, 1889, page 202) of custom to right, judgement, lawsuit, penalty and vengeance. The OCD (Hornblower S, Oxford Classical Dictionary, 1996, Page 469) reference to Likh describes it as the, personification of justice and the daughter of Zeus that, reports men s wrongdoing to Zeus . Sophocles rendition of the tragic play ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is strange, especially as the remaining children conspire and eventually murder those responsible for their father s death. They presumably feel otherwise. In just this one passage justice is used to mean custom, just, revenge and vengeance. The second extract follows immediately after the news of Orestes death (Ibid., pg 91) when Clytaemnestra, after a brief moment of sorrow is joyous at the news that her life is now safe. In contrast we see that Electra is devastated (Ibid., line 789) at the news. The idea of justice and revenge is brought to a climax here as Clytaemnestra feels that, Justice is done to him . Would this be justice to Orestes for not doing his duty or to Agamemnon for sacrificing his child? This compares well with the previous passage where Clytaemnestra accuses Electra of not doing her duty (Ibid., pg 84, line 526). Electra cries out to Likh, Goddess of Vengeance, hear and speak for the dead . It is clear from the many interpretations of dikh and its use in Sophocles Electra that other, broader issues can be raised. The very concepts of justice, revenge, honour and custom are exposed in detail. Understanding these issues and the language used requires further study of the period, language, laws, customs and traditions. The most important issue raised by this play is that of how do we (or more specifically the Greeks watching the play) feel about matricide ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Essay On Caravaggesque Artemisia Gentileschi and her art are finally receiving deserved scholarly attention. While much remains to be written about her, a great deal has been done to clarify her oeuvre since Roberto Longhi s pioneering efforts in 1916. Some of the underlying assumptions that guided Longhi in his evaluation of Artemisia Gentileschi and his attempt to set forth an oeuvre for her still dominate our thinking about her art. Primary among them is Artemisia s role as a caravaggesca, that is, her place as a follower of Caravaggio. In fact, initial viewing and evaluations of her work were done in the context of Caravaggio: before 1991, her work was seen almost exclusively in exhibitions devoted to assessing Caravaggio s influence and in surveys of his followers. Caravaggio was a revolutionary artist who used nature as the primary model in his paintings by recording the imperfections of the physical world and its inhabitants. Caravaggio s influence is credited with luring other artists to follow him in his use of darkened grounds and the substitution of the commonplace for more nobly conceived figures in idealized settings. The term caravaggesque, however, encompasses a range of qualities, including the recreation of tactile surfaces, the use of focused light sources that penetrate darkened interiors to bring isolated figures and objects into raised relief, the practice of designing and then painting compositions directly onto the canvas without preparatory drawings, and the ... The purpose of the book is to help others understand the diplomacy of Henry Kissinger, who is considered to be one of the most influential figures of the Cold War era. Because these transcripts were formerly classified, they offer insights and new pieces of information that has not been seen by the public. It is valuable in that it offers both sides of the conversation, so the reader could see the conversations that have changed history unfold. The limitation of the document lies in the analysis portions of the book, due to the bias that William Burr may have held in editing the transcripts, perhaps editing out portions that could have put Henry Kissinger in a bad light. • 9. The s Mini Research Paper Essay Santa Iglesia Advanced English 1, Per. 7 14 November 2016 OMS Mini Research Paper The word man has a very simple definition: an adult male ( The Definition ). However, there are many symbols and meanings being it. A Native American picture known as Man in a Maze, originally called I itoi, depicts a man standing at the entrance of a maze. At the center is the man s dreams where God greets him and passes him into the next world. The center is not easy to reach, for there are many twists and turns in the maze itself. The maze symbolizes life and the difficulties man has to go through to reach the end and move on. In this instance man is naive, but represents strength, and must go through the challenges faced through existence in order to find the way to the finish ( The Symbol ). Another simple, yet very complex word beyond its basic definition, is old . The book definition of old is to have existed for a long time ( I Found ). The word old is associated with wisdom because a lot of experience is thought to be gained during long periods of time. When combining the two words, old and man, a new and very intricate symbol is made. Old man symbolizes wisdom of humanity and the power of great knowledge. The phrase old man is also associated with high status and special powers because with great wisdom comes significant respect from less experienced individuals (Cirlot). George Zimmerman s Case George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch leader, was driving to Target to run a errand on the night of February 26, 2012 when he observed a suspicious person, leisurely walking in the rain, looking at all the houses, wearing a grey hoodie as he would tell dispatch in his 911 call made at 7:09 p.m. Moments later an altercation occurred between Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin, which left Trayvon dead from a single gunshot wound to his chest and Zimmerman with a bloody nose and a cut to the back of his head. Zimmerman asserted that the shooting was done in self defense because he thought Trayvon was reaching for his ( Zimmerman s ) concealed gun and he feared for his life. The prosecution s theory of the case as they outlined in their opening statement was the Zimmerman suffered no serious injury in the fight and that he was a liar and a wanna be cop who concluded, with little evidence to support it, that Trayvon was someone who was about to commit a crime in his neighborhood . • 11. Umbilical Cord Blood Harvesting I. Introduction A. Attention getting opener: There is a critical need for effective, long term solutions for harvesting stem cells. Already there are more than 300,000 units stored worldwide. These products have been banked under stringent quality conditions, in order to ensure their safety and efficacy, (Vladareanu, Mihailescu Zvanca, 20070, p. 142). B. Credibility statement: Abundant research shows that harvesting stem cells from umbilical cord blood offers crucial advantages over other methods, including bone marrow and peripheral blood. C. Thesis: Although not an ideal medium for harvesting, and will not replace other types of stem cell sources, umbilical cord blood should be an integral part of the blood/tissue bank repertoire. II. Advantages of using umbilical cord blood. A. Immunology 1. Umbilical cord blood (UCB) contains stem and progenitor cells capable of restoring haematopoietic and immunological function in vivo, (Navarette Contreras, 2009, p. 236). 2. Umbilical cord blood stem cells can be transplanted to regenerate a patient s immune system, (Vladareanu, Mihailescu Zvanca, 20070, p. 142). B. Pre frozen/cryopreservation 1. cryopreservation allows for the storage of stem cells for future use, eliminating need for searching for suitable donor 2. Especially true when minorities need transplants (Samuel, et. Al, 2007). C. Advantages over other forms of stem cell 1. Bone marrow cell harvesting may be detrimental due to the ... The law of conservation of mass. 2. How to calculate an empirical formula. 3. The concept of limiting reagents. Introduction Synthesis and the determination of empirical formulas are two extremely important parts of chemistry. In this experiment, you will synthesize zinc iodide and determine its empirical formula. The molecular formula gives the actual number of atoms of each element in the molecule and the empirical formula gives the lowest whole number ratio of the atoms in the molecule. For instance, sodium chloride and sodium oxide should be and are NaCl and Na2O respectively. Aluminum chloride and aluminum oxide should be and are AlCl3 and Al2O3. When there are multiple oxidation states of a metal, more than one compound is possible. For instance, copper and oxygen form Cu2O and CuO and more information are needed to distinguish between the two. When naming a copper oxide, it is very important that the name distinguish between the two possibilities [copper(I) oxide or cuprous oxide and copper(II) oxide or cupric oxide]. Care must be exercised as chemistry often contains wonderful surprises. Suppose the percent by mass experiment for an iron oxide results in 72.36% Fe by mass and 27.64% O by mass. Following the procedure above, results in a molar ratio of 1.296:1.727. Division by the lowest number, results in a mole ratio of 1:1.33. For cases like this, the next step is to multiply by the lowest whole number that converts each of the subscripts to a whole number. Thus the formula is Fe3O4. As iron has two oxidation states (+2, +3), the expected formula is either FeO of Fe2O3. Anytime a result that is inconsistent with expectations is obtained, the first and immediate step should be to recheck all the data and calculations. In this case, the results are real and Fe3O4 is a known compound often called magnetite. Understanding the oxidation state of iron in this compound ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Translation Of Evidence And Practice Translation of Evidence to Practice Does the compliance with a sedation protocol improve after nurses receive a sedation competency over a three month period? The available data supported the hypothesis that nursing education and competency can lead to consistent best practices and positive outcomes for patients. The answers to this research question can help develop interventions that support best practices for patients who are mechanically ventilated and receiving intravenous sedation. The literature supported a positive impact on patient outcomes when sedation awakening trials (SAT) and spontaneous breathing trials (SBT) were coordinated (Klompas et al., 2015, Woien Bjork, 2012, Woien, Vaeroy, Aamodt, Bjork, 2012). The literature also supported the compliance of the coordination was more predictable when the nursing division was provided with protocol education (Klompas et al., 2015, Woien Bjork, 2012, Woien, Vaeroy, Aamodt, Bjork, 2012). The summation of findings indicates that when education was integrated with the research methods, the outcomes related to nursing compliance were consistent and led to the completion of best practices. Nursing education was a controlled variable in research that found a positive correlation with SAT and SBT and outcomes for patients. Additionally, research without this controlled variable found inconsistencies with the performance of SAT/SBT and related outcomes. As a result, the particular relationship between ... In these areas the pattern of infection is found in certain groups. These groups being drug injectors, gay men and prostitutes (Pisani p. ) This epidemic is known as the concentrated epidemic . This particular pattern HIV spreads rapidly in a concentrated groups. This is because you are most likely to pass on the virus when you are in the first stage of HIV. In a concentrated tight knit group of people who are having several sex partners and sharing needles with others it is easy for the virus to be transmitted. The other epidemic pattern is seen in east and southern Africa as well as some parts of east Africa and the Caribbean. This pattern is also known as generalised epidemic . This pattern is different because HIV is in the general population appose to a concentrated population. 2. There are three different classes of anti retroviral drugs for HIV: a) The first class of drugs are called the entry inhibitors. The entry inhibitors inhibit the HIV virus to bind to the T helper cells, also called the CD4 T cells. In order for these cells to become infected the virus, the virus has to bind and enter them. If the binding is eliminated therefore the virus can not enter the cell. b) The second is called, integrase inhibitors. Once the virus has entered the host cell, it replicates it s DNA into the cell. The EDC 307 course specifically focuses on these developments in middle childhood and adolescence. This course has taught me an enormous amount about each of those stages. I learned that in middle childhood, cognitive development entails changes in self concept, the child relates their real self to an ideal self that they created. However, in adolescence the cognitive changes are centered around egocentrism and abstract thinking. As for physical development, in middle childhood the changes are few, slow, and regular. Puberty is the most significant physical change that happens during adolescence, ad it happens fast and suddenly . Socio emotional development concerns social behaviors with peers and loved ones. During middle childhood, kids normally judge themselves based on the opinions of their peers, parents, and teachers. I found out that this differs in adolescence in that teenagers try to find their real identity regardless of opinions. The book offers great detail on the battle with different points of view from all the countries that were involved. There are several diary clippings, commentary from several different historians, and accounts of specific attacks and counterattacks that happened within the battle as well. To write the book Neiberg used several primary sources, which enhanced the overall detail of the book. There were a few parts that were confusing in the beginning of the book where he compares the First Battle of the Marne to the second and how the Armies and countries were different in their techniques, skills, and weaponry but its hard to depict which battle he is talking about at times. Overall, I liked the detail in the chapters and that the author did add commentary and not just fact after fact. I also liked the he focused on the French army and their leadership as well as the other countries to see how they all worked together to finally end the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Objectives Of The Mercury Project The objectives of the Mercury Project, as stated at the time of project go ahead, were as follows: Place a manned spacecraft in orbital flight around the earth. Investigate man s performance capabilities and his ability to function in the environment of space. Recover the man and the spacecraft safely. After the objectives were established for the project, a number of guidelines were established to insure that the most expedient and safest approach for attainment of the objectives was followed. The basic guidelines that were established are as follows: Existing technology and off the shelf equipment should be used wherever practical. The simplest and most reliable approach to system design would be followed. An existing launch ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Items (2) and (5) have been made apparent by the manner in which the astronaut has manually controlled the attitude of the spacecraft during orbital maneuvers, retrofire, and reentry, and by the recovery of the spacecraft and astronauts after each flight by recovery forces which included aircraft carriers and destroyers. Basically, the equipment used in the spacecraft was derived from off the shelf equipment or through the direct application of existing technology, although some notable exceptions were made in order to improve reliability and flight safety. These exceptions include: An automatic blood pressure measuring system for use in flight. Instruments for sensing the partial pressures of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the oxygen atmosphere of the cabin and suit, respectively. Some may argue with the detailed way in which the second basic guideline of simplicity was carried out; however, this guideline was carried out to the extent possible within the volume, weight, and redundancy requirements imposed upon the overall system. The effect of the weight and volume constraints, of course, resulted in smaller and lighter equipment that could not always be packaged in an optimum way for simplicity. Redundancy probably increased the complexity of the systems more than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
