This document summarizes a student's evaluation of a media production project. It discusses the strengths and weaknesses of the student's research, planning, time management, technical and aesthetic qualities of the project. The student received feedback from peers noting issues with the green screen, fight choreography, clothing, and intensity. In the future, the student plans to use a larger green screen, choreograph fights for the camera, and create proper wardrobes for characters.
3. Research
• The strengths of my research was that I was able to find a variety of
different videos I could look at for inspiration of what kind of music style
I could create with. My researched helped me since it picked out a genre
I knew I could be good at.
• Some weaknesses of the research was I should have researched what
the college had available for me to use and if it was large enough. Things
I could of improved on would be the place I filmed my sword fight as I
didn’t have enough space in the place provided for me. This would have
made my film quality a lot better as I could of performed a variety of
things that couldn’t be don’t in the studio.
4. Planning
• The strengths of my planning was that It helped show me the ways I
could project my work and in what style I could do it in. This helped my
product as it gave it more variety in the end.
• The weakness in the end is that I didn’t plan the size of where I would be
filming which ended up being my downfall. The way I could of improved
my project would be by having a larger green screen to perform harder
scenes simply.
5. Time Management
• No, since I didn’t plan all my stages of work and also ended up being ill
for a total of 2 weeks which shredded my production time. With
additional time I would of fixed the green screen issue and made sure to
have space.
6. Technical Qualities
The quality in camera work is a lot better in the official video as they’ve though of
many different angles they could create whilst to do a side view I would have to
make it a close up of the characters.
The editing of the official video is a lot better also as they’ve created their own
background with smoke whilst with my time I had to find an online image.
7. Aesthetic Qualities
I believe for what I had it was good but needed a lot of work. I also believe it
was creative as I don’t believe anyone has attempted to create such a scene in
media. The visuals I like of my video is near the beginning for the blacksmith as
it shows what time can do to a simple scene. Improvements I would make
would be towards the fight and the choreography behind it to make it look
more realistic and add effects to look like swords clashing.
8. Audience Appeal
I’ve appealed to my target audience by making a tense fight that would
make them wonder who to support and also give some thrill to the video.
The bits of content I believe they could enjoy would be mainly the fight
since that also what the video shows, but unlike the video I don’t have the
message in mine.
10. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
• It has good effects in parts of it
• Doesn’t drag out too long
• What improvements could have been made to the product?
• Green screen is visible
• Fight looks too staged and parts can be easily seen to be reused
• Fireball doesn’t travel natrually
11. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
• Good fight movements
• Has comedy which many videos lack
• Good settings
• Good effects with the sword blacksmith
• What improvements could have been made to the product?
• Clothing doesn’t suit the theme of the video
• Can see parts of the green screen
12. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
• Good effects
• Good thoughts put into it
• What improvements could have been made to the product?
• Fight is boring and doesn’t have the intensity of many other fights, for
example the camera should be part of the fight and going with the flow
• Some of the props are generic things like the plastic sword compared to
wooden one in the video
• Wearing t-shirt jeans and hoodies don’t find the fight at all.
• You need to fix the green screen as it doesn’t fit the whole picture giving the
side lines of it
13. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
• I agree with most of it as the green screen needs fixing the clothes weren’t
planned and the fight wasn’t planned it was just made with the flow.
• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
• I disagree that the fireball isn’t natural since I spent a while going through
videos of balls of fire being thrown and the speed and if it was too fast
naturally it would go out.
14. Peer Feedback Summary
From all the feed back it fits to what I originally thought needed fixing but also
gave insight on clothing and props
15. Action Plan for future development
• For future development I would have to make a larger green screen
and choreograph a fight for the camera to follow. Also I would create
a wardrobe for the characters to wear.
