3. Research
• Strengths and weaknesses
A strength of my research was that i went into a lot of detail while
researching products. I did this by collecting multipul clips and sceenshots
of different sections of a video and explaining what i liked about them.
Another strenght was my conventions. This is because i explained clearly
what type of camera shots, movement, lighting ect. That i wanted to
appear in my video. This helped me further along in production because it
reminded me what i wanted to create
Some weeknesses in my research were not trying harder experiments. To
improve i coukd be more creative or even try more experiments.
4. Planning
• Strength
Some strenth during planning was my concept board as the analysis of tge
board helped me get an idea of how i wanted the visuals to look and how
to make coloured clothes/props fit in to the final outcome. Another
strenght in my planning would be the structual break down as later on this
helped with fillming different section as i wanted day and night to appear
in the video and edditing the final product.
• Weekness/improvements
I spent extra time on my planning as i was unable to film during the week
only on the weekend. With the exra time i spent planning i could have
used in filming and editing to improve the final product.
5. Time Management
My time Management wasnt as good as i would have liked it to be. This is
because i had missed one of the weeks for the prodject. With the time i
had i used my schedual to keep on trac of my work and moved a few
things back.
I would have liked to spend more time on editing and do a few more
things to the final video like i had planed ( like make some of tbe footage
look older). I did create a final piece for the project on time so i think i did
well managing my time the best i could.
6. Technical Qualities
• Strengths and weaknesses
A strenght in my technical qualitys is that i used lots of different camera movements
and different views ( close up, overthe shoulder and wide view). I also took
inspiration from previous products when taking the footage. Another strenght was
that most of the footage came out looking smooth and stable instead of shaky.
A weekness in in my final product is a clip that worked int he editing softwear didnt
work as well and a actor was croped out of the scene. The clip was also very shaky.
Yo improve the outcome i could have unuploaded a d taken out the scene or reshot
it. However i chose not to do this because of the lack of time and the clip didnt have
a problem pos edit and i wanted tk keep the clip in because it was what i ahd
planned to put in my video. To fix this i could next time ask a teacher for help.
7. Aesthetic Qualities
My vidoe uses a a suttle colour pallet with majorityly mmuted colours expect a few
(red) brighter colours. This makes the music video look appealing to the eye it also
keeps focus on the main characters. Another quality is the chronological order of the
clips. This makes people feel like they are watching a story of the rebelious
characters.
The locations used are public and easy to take footage of, this is the case in many
music vidoes of the same genre ( indie rock).
I would improve some of the blury footage and some of the footage that was unable
to stabalize in editing .
8. Audience Appeal
I appealed to my target audience by using a popular song that most people around
the age 15-24 would have hear making it nostalgic. I also editied to the beat witch
most people that i asked enjoy watching While listening to the music. The different
shorter and longer clips using different technical qualitys also keep the audience
interested .
10. Feedback
• What did you like about the product?
• I liked how the video was in beat with the music, thus made it nice to watch
• I lile some of the cuts especially the one where the person jumped in to the
puddle and it cut to a later time. It was a nice way to show the change of
time.
• What improvements could have been made to the product?
• Some of the footage was a bit blury
• Some of the footage was also not stable and shaked in some places where it
Would have been better still.
• It could have included more colour
11. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
• I agree that some of the footage should have been redone to become better
quality and less blury/shaky.
• I also like the music cutting to the beat
• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
• I disagree that the music video needs more colour as i feel the muted colour
pallet goes with what you would wear if you werw going to stay out late at
night not trying to get attention.
12. Action Plan for future development
• If i was to future develop my music video i would reshoot some of
the footage for better quality clips and put more time into editing. I
would keep the cut tho the beat element, as i thimk it works well.
