3. Research
• The first thing I looked at on the research power point was existing products
this aloud me to find out what was out there and if there was anything like
what I had planned to do for my video. Some of my strengths I found were
four vloggers similar to what I had planned for my project the most similar was
GQthe1st, he makes weekly vlogs and adds his photography and bmxing into
his product this is the style of video I had planned to do. By watching all the
vloggers it gave me lots of styles of vlogs to do and how to edit and what
works and what doesn't and how to make the most boring thing interesting.
The next thing I found out was what my audience like and watched so then I
knew what to add and what will make my product the best. After I did the
questionnaire I did a interview with some of my audience to get more detailed
answers. With these more detailed answers from my audience I will be able to
find out what they would like to see and how I can add them in to my product
to make my product fit well in with my audience. Some of my weaknesses are
that my questionnaire didn’t really help with my final project to improve this is
that I would have added more questions relevant to my project. Another
weakness would be that the interview wasn’t as helpful as I thought it would
be and to improve this I would ask more questions to get more information
about my audience.
4. Planning
• By planning it helped me get an idea of what it was that I wanted to do
and by this I got to plan out my days and see what I was going to do. It
aloud me to break down the concept of what I wanted to do and go into
detail of the main parts of my project and was able to talk about what
they would be and what I would be doing during these clips. By planning it
aloud me to take 3 ideas I had and break them down to see witch one
would work best with the equipment I have and was able to use to make
it. By doing this I was able to make the best product and the most
interesting. I think that the story board helped with planning out what I
was going to do each day and what was going to happen in the video.
What didn’t help so much with my project was the Contingency Planning
and the health and safety slides as theses didn’t really come in to play
with what's was happening in my video. The schedule helped with
working out what was going on each day and to help me get my work
done in time.
5. Time Management
• My time management has been good as I have been able to make my product
well and in enough time to be able to get it on the internet. The only thing I
struggled with the time management was the actual filming the product as
things I had planned to do didn’t go quite to plan so there are just random
clips from random days during the week. If I had more time to do the project I
would spend more time filming to make the video have more content and to
make the video longer and more interesting. I felt like I have managed my time
well and I successfully finished my production work early witch aloud me to go
back and improve some of my past work and add to the rest of my power
point to add more detail. Because I finished early and moved on to completing
and adding things to old work it means I didn't spend as much time on my
final project as I could have added more colour correction to make it more
astatically pleasing to the eye. I used my schedule to the most part but I linked
all the filming and location scouting in to the two days I had to film. It worked
to help me get the work done. I also used the schedule that was on blackboard
to make sure I was reaching the dead line to get my pieces of work in on time.
I think I managed the time effectively and well so next time I think I will make
a smaller schedule because I finished early.
6. Technical Qualities
Both of the covers have barcodes and age ratings. The
age rating tells the viewer what age the audience has to
be to legally watch this movie. On the back covers the
images give the audience a preview of what the film
may be like. it shows a picture of a scene which gives
the audience a idea of what there is in the film. The
batman film has text that tells the viewer who
specifically made the film and who is in the film. Both
have the logo of the company who made the film. Both
have a blurb which both give a brief description of what
is going on in the film. Which allows the audience to
know what is happening.
These two videos are similar as they are both set over a
week, they also have photography incorporated in to it as
well as a action sports aspect. While the video by GQthe1st
has bmx in it and the one I made has scooter riding in it.
Another difference in these two videos is that mine has a
cinematic sequences in and the other one doesn't.
Gqthe1st thumbnails has all different shapes, while mine
has all the images in a row on the top and bottom with the
text in the middle witch makes it look professional. The
colours in GQ’s project are quite bland and dull while my is
colorful and bright. The sound effect I used help show the
images at the end off well with the change of image when
the sound went off. GQ’s video is longer than mine which
show that he has more detail in his video and more things
going on.
GQthe1st me
7. Aesthetic Qualities
I think that my final product is really creative and unique. I stuck to the idea I had
discussed in my planning. I like the edit I put into the video and with all the different
video effects and transitions I think it worked well and made the product look good
and made it more entertaining. The colour correction I did to the clips made the day
look brighter and more appealing to the eye it did this by making it less dull and it
made it more brighter and made the day seem better. By adding the colour
correction it gives all these clips a different feeling than if I was just to leave it like
how it is coming out of the camera.
8. In this image I used a LUT called
ASPEN to make the blues and
greens pop I did this so the it
wasn’t just a rubbish attempt at
colour correction from me it
actually looks good.
In this image I used a teal and
pink LUT to make the image look
different and to make the reds
pop and to make the sky look nice
and blue.
In this image I used a LUT to
make the clip brighter, this
gave the clip a happier feeling.
I used the rule of thirds witch
makes me the subject
standout and makes you get
drawn to the person.
9. Audience Appeal
My target audience that I had discussed in my proposal were teens of both genders.
I think that the age rating I have chosen is still appropriate for my video. I planned
that I would make it for 12+, however I also think that my video would appeal to a
larger audience to what I had planned in my proposal. The age range of my
audience is 16-19 witch I think appeals well because there are activity's that would
appeal to a larger audience these activates include photography and scooter riding.
The ending of my video would appeal to my audience as it has photography, but I
also think that the cinematic sequence I made at the beginning of the video will also
appeal as it has some photography style of shoots in and by doing that it makes it
more appealing to the eye and more appealing to the viewer which will also make
the viewer more likely to carry on watching and staying engaged with what's going
on in the video. People how like Jon bellion would be interested in my vlog as it has
footage from his concert.
11. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– I like the overall structure of the vlog it works well to tell the story of
your week. The colour correction on the product works well with the
shots you have taken and the cuts and transitions are sound. The
graphics are brilliant and illustrate the beginning and end of the vlog,
they also show the transition between days. The music also worked
well with the activities you were showing.
• What improvements could have been made to the product?
• It was a very good video, I liked the transitions and the graphics and
next time I would suggest looking at the snap chat videos and
mirroring them onto the sides to make it a full screen size. Another
improvement that I would recommend for next time would be
looking at more shots to illustrate travel, this would show where
you are going in the video.
12. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– he admits he needs a haircut
– Music choice for each section suits the theme of the
video
– Colour correction really bring out the clips.
– Transitions are smooth and feel fresh.
– Well edited.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
• Keep to one type of camera ( not switch from
snapchat to normal cinematography)
13. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– I like how there’s three different parts to the vlog. One showing scooter tricks, two being
the concert and third being the slide.
– The transitions between each clip is really good and doesn’t just cut straight onto the
next one.
– I also like the time lapses that make the video look fresh and well thought out.
– The editing of the video is good and has good music to fit in with the clips.
– The photos at the end of the video are good and high quality as well as the video clips
themselves.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
• Because it’s a vlog you expect it to be longer so I would suggest making it a bit longer.
14. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback? I agree with all feed back I got as it was useful for if I wanted
to improve my work for next time. It was also good because I got a lot of
positive feedback and that was good as I got to see what I did well in my
product so then I can keep doing that in my projects to come.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
• There isn't anything that I disagree with in my
feed back as they were all things that I can use to
improve my work and then I can add that to the
next thing I do to make it better.
15. Peer Feedback Summary
For next time I would add more shots to make the video
longer and to give the video more of a story to show
where I am and where I’m traveling too. Another thing I
would do for next time is go through it a final time to
see if anything else needs cutting down to make the
video more snappy to give the video a quicker pace than
just waiting for stuff to happen. Another thing I would
change is that I would add more speech to make the
vlog more talkative this will make it more interesting and
will make you understand what is going on more in the
video by illustrating what's going on. Another thing I
would add to the project is I would have given it an
actual intro and outro so then the audience knows
what's happening and by doing this it will make the
video longer and more vloggy.
