Style sheet
I have chosen this font to be the main font used for my header on my magazine's
cover. I feel that the font resembles a retro style which can be nostalgic for my
older audience who miss how gaming magazines used to be created. It could
also be a new entry point for younger audiences to familiarize themselves with
the style.
I feel that this particular font may be best used when talking about the chosen feature
game: Spyro. This will most likely be used on the double page spread in the articles and
also for the feature game's story on the cover of my magazine. I think that this font will
be well suited to its task as it is familiar to Spyro's font. Because of this, it can click with
fans of the series better.
This particular font has been chosen to be used on the feature stories which aren't related
to Spyro and the Pop outs featured in the corner of my designs. I chose this font for the
fact that it is clear and simple looking, meaning that the audience will easily be able to
read the cover and its stories and decide quickly if they are bothered to read on.
I chose this font to be used on emphasized words in my feature stories and other
features on the cover. I feel that it differs just enough to stand out and grab the
reader's attention while also not drawing the attention away from the rest of the
cover/double page spread.
Style Sheet
This is my first choice of colour pallets for my magazine. It closely
resembles the various colours of my chosen feature game
character: Spyro the Dragon. I feel that this is the easiest choice of
colours as it will tie all of the cover together and give the
magazine a more structured, well built up look.
This second colour pallet is my next possible choice for the
magazine. It uses extremely similar colours to the first one with
the main difference being the dullness. I thought that a dull colour
scheme would be rather fitting for my magazine as they used to
be a common sight in retro gaming magazines.
This last colour scheme is my least favourite due to the lack of
resemblance to the feature game character. With this scheme, I
have decided to try out matching colours to the backdrop of the
earliest Spyro games. This could also help me out with the nostalgic
vibe I want to achieve due to the original Spyro backdrops being
one of the fans' favourite and most memorable aspects.

Contingency Planning
Potential Issue Solution
I may not be able to find the information that I
want on the game(s) I am reviewing and talking
about.
Make sure that I have backup choices that are
not what I would usually want to choose but
which have plenty of information and gameplay
and existing reviews of them.
My USB files may corrupt and my work may be
lost.
Keep a copy of all my work either on another
flash drive or on OneDrive where it will be safe.
My PC could have problems and I may not be
able to take any screenshots or even open the
games to take the screenshots.
Make sure I have access to somewhere that I
can use as a back up (Game's new PC section,
etc) to screenshot.
I may not be able to get a clear shot or find a
clear picture of the chosen character meaning I
cannot cut it out properly to use in my cover.
Choose a different character that is potentially
well known in the game or use a different
feature game.
I may not get my work done in time and could
possibly find myself falling behind.
Make a plan or schedule and stick to it closely
and move onto the next step if I do not finish
something in time and finish the past work off
in my own time.
Software such as Photoshop and InDesign may
not be available at the PC I am using (such as
my home PC)
Progress with the Photoshop and InDesign
work in college and work on the PowerPoint
work more at home.
Health and Safety
Potential Issue How will the issue be
avoided?
I may become ill at some point during a college
day.
Contact the college to let them know that I
cannot make it in and try to get some work
done from home it possible.
My eyes may become strained and ached from
looking at a monitor for so long.
Take regular short breaks from the PC and any
other screens
My back may become strained from sitting
wrong in my computer chair.
Make sure I sit up straight and don't slouch or
lean too much. Also keep the top of the
monitor at eye level.
I could get shocked or electrocuted from my PC
while adjusting wires or the metal back.
Make sure that whenever I deal with wires or
want to move or touch the back of my PC
properly, it is turned off.
I could become stressed should I begin to fall
behind in any of my work
Go to a tutor to help me and try to keep to a
schedule .
The environment could have potentially
dangerous objects around.
Check the area for any objects that could cause
me harm and move them.

Editor's Notes

  1. Explore colours, fonts and image styles similar to what you want to produce. Discuss all three elements in relation to why you chose them and where you may use them in your project. Go over as many pages as you need to
  2. Mock up of a potential design using the colours and fonts established in your style sheet and sourced images Alter this slide to make it appropriate for your planned product types. Add further layout slides to create at least one for each product you plan to make.
