Existing Product
This is an example of an already existing product, from
Rockstar, it is infact an example of one of the Grand
Theft Auto games from the franchise. This example of an
already existing product is much more detailed then of
which I am planning on making my product too look, as
clearly with it being a game that has such a wider
audience it is clearly a game of which that has had a lot
of time and effort put into the creation of it, to make it
appeal to the audience as best as it possibly could.
Although that in reality this product isn’t very similar to
how I am planning on making my production, it is some
way similar however as, it is based around the same
company ‘Rockstar’ and also some of the features of
which I am going to include in my game can be seen to
be relatable to some of the features of this screenshot
from the game. For example the gun the man is holding
in this screenshot can be related too the monster energy
‘M’ that is going to be coming down and trying to hit the
rock star ‘R’, this is a resemblance as the ‘M’ and the
gun have one purpose and that is to kill//destroy.
The lighting from the screenshot of this game
can be seen too be light, but also on the side
of being slightly dim, this is good as it helps
too create it as a sunset like effect on it.
I know that throughout this game it explores
a viarity of camera angles, but in this
screenshot it appears to only show a centre
camera angle shot.
The amount of angles explored in this game
will appeal a lot too the audience because it
will make the game appear to be more
realistic and give it a sense of feeling as if you
are actually the character in the game .
Existing Product
This is existing product example, looks too be
very similar of which how I am planning on
making my game look, I know this just by
looking at it because of one simple reason and
that is the fact that it is set in the animation
pixel format and that is how I am planning on
making my game in the format of.
Although that this isn’t exactly in the same style
of how I want my game to look, it also kind of is
in some way because with my game I am basing
it around one adventure trail were you have too
make it to the end, where as this game, it can be
seen as the whole surroundings of it is one never
ending adventure trail that keeps on going on.
So in some way it is similar too how I want my
production too look but not quite exactly how I
want it to be created.
The audience around this game is more based around
the younger age range, which can be seen by this
screenshot. The way that it makes use of a different
coloured background//setting is good as it helps to
appeal to that set audience, as the bright coloured
background gives a much more appealing sense
towards it//which makes it more appealing to play and
makes more people want to play it.
The fact that the camera angle is set more towards the
first person light will also make it much more
appealing and make people want too buy it, just for
the first person sense//appeal when playing the game.
Existing Product
This is an example of an already existing
product animation game. This existing
product on a whole is the closest in
similarity to how I want my product to
look, this is due to the fact how there is
two main characters who are about to
battle. This is how I am planning on making
my game in the style of, but obviously
without the star Wars characters and
having lightsabers to fight with. My
product will be including an adventure trail
of which you have too climb with the
enemy ‘M’ falling down in various places ,
trying to hit the Rock star ‘R’ .
This product would appeal too it’s
audience because, it will be based around
a very specific audience for it too appeal
and that is a Star wars audience. So yes
before looking at the rest of the category's
it would automatically appeal to its
audience, as If they had a strong interest
in the film, they would automatically want
to play//view//buy the game, without a
second doubt.
Existing Product
This is an more older style of an already existing
product. It again is similar to my already existing
product in different ways and that is immediately
due to the fact that it Is set more in animation
form but more in pixels, which is again how I am
planning on creating my game, also it shows as if
the two of them are about to turn and have a
fight, which gives a clear representation upon
how it is more set around a fighting game, as
shown by how it looks as if they are about to turn
around and fight. The fighting sense of the game
isn’t really that much of a similarity to how I am
planning on making my product as the
battle//fight part of my game isn’t really
presented in this manor//but in a different one,
which keeps the audience intereged.
The lighting of this already existing product is
very light, as shown by the fact that it doesn't
actually appear to have a background, it is
just plain white from the lighting, this wont
appeal//draw in the audience because there
isn’t really any background, this will draw
them away from wanting to view it//play
it//buy it. The camera angle shows the main
playable characters too be in a dead centre
shot, which gives it more detailed sense and
helps to draw in the audience//viewers eye
more, but I still believe that its not enough too
make the audience want to buy it.
Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched
products have?
• From the products of which I have researched they all have common features, one of them
main common features is that they are all based around being animation games and in
some form they are all based around being in the pixel form. Another similarity is the fact
that they all have similar colour schemes, in which of being bright colour schemes, which
appeal more too the audience.
• What aspects of the research will you include
within your on work?
• Yes there is one particular aspect of the already existing product examples of which I am
going to include in my production and that is of the colour schemes that appear in the
production, especially the brighter ones.
Questionnaire Analysis
Audience research
• Observation: From this I can make the observation that, people much prefer the idea of a lighter colour
scheme , then of a darker colour scheme or a light and dark colour scheme.
• What this says about my audience: From this it says about the audience that
they prefer the idea of a lighter colour scheme then of a darker colour scheme, or a mixed colour scheme.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: My product will
appeal too this audience because I was originally planning on making my game production in the idea of a lighter colour
scheme, then a darker colour scheme.
Audience research
• Observation: From this I can make the observation that a higher amount of people prefer the
idea of my game being all in one stage rather then other stages. In Fact 20% voted 1-2 stages, 0% voted 2-3
stages and 80% voted all in one stage. So all in one stage was the highest vote//favoured more.
• What this says about my audience: From this it says about my
audience that they prefer the idea of being able too play the game in one, rather than having too mess around
with separate//different stages.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: My
product will appeal to my audience because I am planning too make it on the idea of my game being able to be
played all in one stage//rather then different stages.
Audience research
• Observation: From looking at this I can successfully make the observation that all of this audience who answered
the question have said yes too violence being included in some form, however the majority voted for the idea of violence but
more of a comical time.
• What this says about my audience: From this it says one thing about my audience and
that is that they like the idea of including violence in a game in different forms, but on a whole they more prefer the idea of
comical violence.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: my product will appeal
too this audience, due to the fact that I am planning on including violence but the more comical//funny type.

• Observation: From this I can make the observation that 80% of people prefer the idea of
having 2-3 checkpoints where as 20% of the people prefer the idea of having 3-4 checkpoints.
• What this says about my audience: from this it says that my
audience prefer the idea of having a modest amount of checkpoints throughout a game//not too many though
as it will make the game easier too play.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: My
product will appeal to this audience because I am planning on having 3 checkpoint stops on my game and that
is seen too be a modest amount of stops.
Audience research
• Observation: From this I can make the clear observation that, 80% of the people prefer the ide of a
country side background, where as 20% prefer the idea pf a dark, city background and nobody chose the idea of a light
country background.
• What this says about my audience: from this it says about my audience that,
they much rather prefer the idea of an country side background, then of the other options, which gives the feeling that they prefer the
idea of bright and detailed backgrounds.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: My product
will appeal to the audience because I am originally planning on making the background more of a countryside style and especially
making it so that it is much more on the detailed side.
Audience research
• Observation: From this I can make the observation that 80% of people prefer the idea of the ‘M’ in random places
and 20% prefer the idea of the ‘M’ coming from above the sky.
• What this says about my audience: From looing at this it says about my
audience that, they prefer the idea of having the ‘M’ coming down in various places, which says that people prefer the idea of a more
action like and interesting.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: My product
will appeal towards the audience because I was planning on having the monster ‘M’ be coming in at different places to attack, I
thought of this idea, especially by the idea that it makes it more interesting and helps to kept the audience more drawn In.

questions have voted that it should be ‘collect items along the way’ and nobody had voted for any of the other
responses.
• What this says about my audience: From this it says about m audience
that, they rather prefer the idea of being able to collect things, saying that they prefer a game that is more
interactive.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: My

the ‘M’ are found along the adventure trail.
Audience research
• Observation: From this I can make the clear observation that 100% of people have voted for he idea
that there should be 1-2 power-up places of opportunity and nobody had voted for any of the other choices.
• What this says about my audience: This says one clear thing about my
audience and that is the fact that they like games were there is power-up opportunity's//but not so much that it
makes the game easier.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: My
product will appeal to this audience because I am considering it only being 1-2 power-up points and if this is the
stage of which this audience then preferably this is what I am going to bas it around

that they would more prefer to play a game that is creative//looks creative and that can be shown by the
• How will your product appeal to this audience: MY
product will appeal to my audience because I was always planning on making my adventure trail using a mixture of
colours// as I believed it would appeal//draw In the audience more.
Interviews
Interview 1
• “What would you like too see in an adv. Game?”
• “Well.. In an adv.game I would like to see many good points that will help draw in the
attention of the audience, so for example, think about what you are going too base your
adv.Game around i.e. make it something that is strong and will stand out to other types of
adv.Games , also be sure to make it something that will appeal to a wider audience, so a
product//topic that has a wide audience spectrum where you will be able to analyse the
audience in depth.”
• “As well as ur initial idea being good and strong you also need to make sure that you will
make the material i.e. background and any assets to a good quality so that, it will still keep
the audience to a good manor of interest and possibly expand the audience spectrum to a
better scale.”
Interview 1
• Observation: From this I can make the observation that they like the idea of
having a strong well presented adv. Game with good material included into it.
• What this says about my audience: what this says about
my audience is the fact that they like a game that is going to be well detailed//be
enjoyable and fun to play and also going to keep them interested.
• How will your product appeal to this
audience: My product will appeal to this audience because I am planning on
making my production with the idea of it being well presented and having a good strong
connection with the audience so that it appeals to them, in a manor good enough too keep
them interested.
Interview 2
• “What kind of backgrounds so you prefer too see In
ADV.games?”
• “In an ADV.Game, I would much more prefer the idea of seeing a light and
detailed background rather than any other background , as I believe this makes
the game to look more detailed and it will draw in more people to play//view
the game, especially the kind of audience such as mine”.
• “with your light and detailed background I would rather that It be an idea of it
being a country side background, then of any other kind, as it would give a more
interesting sense towards it”
• “With an ADV.Game, I feel that it depends on the type of ADV.game you are
planning to make too justify the style of background of which you want to create
for it. However based around the style of which you have planed on making your
production for// I believe that your background should be more of a light
city//country background.
Interview 2
• Observation: From looking at the following interview, I believe that I
can make the observation that people prefer the idea of a more lighter and
detailed background.
• What this says about my audience: From looking at
this it says about my audience that they prefer the idea of having a more
brighter set background with the idea of it being in an in-depth detail, either city
or country side… although country side background setting is more favoured.
• How will your product appeal to this
audience: My product will appeal too this audience because I am already
planning on creating my production around the set idea of having a lighter
background, too make it sound more appealing towards the audience,
inparticualr the more countryside style.
Audience Profile
Category Demographic Content to appeal to this audience
Age Range

energy drinks and 30 is around the age you would stop
drinking them. Content would appeal as from the fact
that it Is based around an energy drink company.
Gender
Mainly male//in
some part female
• My game will in some frame mainly be based around
the idea of the male genre// but depending on the
females preferences it can also be related to the female
genre
Psychographic
Energy
drinks//monster
trucks
• the main content in my production, that will draw
towards this audience is the initial idea of my
production being based around an energy drinks
company.
Social Status
CCC//BBC • I believe that my production will initially appeal to this
audience because the idea of drinking this style of
energy drinks, also this the audience that would mainly
take interest in these things.
Research Evaluation
Research Evaluation
• Give an overview of how you conducted your research. Discuss the
strengths and weaknesses of each method
– Product Research
– For my product research I simply went onto google images and sourced some screenshots of already existing products//of
which I thought where similar too of how I would like my product to look.
– The main strength of this method of research in my opinion is the fact that I am able to view already existing products and be
able to even take ideas from them of which I could use in my actual production.
– The main weakness in my opinion is the fact that there is so many already existing products that I couldn’t work out which to
chose and analyse//that I could relate too how I wanted my production to look.
- Questionnaires
- Too create the questionnaires I simply took the idea of using a website called survey monkey and using that to form together
the questions I used too ask people about there specific preferences.
- In my opinion the main strength of this questionnaire, is the idea of being able to get more specific responses and actually be
able to find out what is more appealing towards the audience.
- One of the main weaknesses that I feel that is important, is one of the main difficulties is the fact that the questionnaires are
based towards a more wider audience, instead on more individually based.
– Interviews
– To conduct this style of research, I simply created some questions to ask people and they had to answer them with a good
enough response.
– The main strengths of this method of research is the idea that I was able to ask people the questions and get individual
responses, which made the audience agenda more focus based and this helps how to make my production.
– One of the weaknesses of which I believe is that some of the people may not have answered the questions truthfully//they
might have just rushed with answering the questions//not taken them seriously.
Research Evaluation
– What sort of a response did you get?
On a whole I believe that I received good and strong responses and good enough
ones of which make me able to think about how I want my production too look and
the style of which I would want my production too turn out, this was to do with the
responses that I got of my questionnaires and my interviews.
– How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage and a disadvantage
– Too distribute my survey I more took the idea of using social media, this was one
of my main methods of which I used to distribute my survey as I believe that I
was able to spread it around much more and I had a better chance of getting
more responses. But by doing that I believe some of the responses wont have
been good and honest responses, as I might not have known them//they not me,
so they didn’t put any time or consideration into my survey. However I also
distributed via email, so these responses would have been actually thought
about, as for the emailed responses they will have been emailed to people I
actually knew, which means that hopefully the responses would have been far
more detailed.

Unit 3 research

  • 2. Existing Product This is an example of an already existing product, from Rockstar, it is infact an example of one of the Grand Theft Auto games from the franchise. This example of an already existing product is much more detailed then of which I am planning on making my product too look, as clearly with it being a game that has such a wider audience it is clearly a game of which that has had a lot of time and effort put into the creation of it, to make it appeal to the audience as best as it possibly could. Although that in reality this product isn’t very similar to how I am planning on making my production, it is some way similar however as, it is based around the same company ‘Rockstar’ and also some of the features of which I am going to include in my game can be seen to be relatable to some of the features of this screenshot from the game. For example the gun the man is holding in this screenshot can be related too the monster energy ‘M’ that is going to be coming down and trying to hit the rock star ‘R’, this is a resemblance as the ‘M’ and the gun have one purpose and that is to kill//destroy. The lighting from the screenshot of this game can be seen too be light, but also on the side of being slightly dim, this is good as it helps too create it as a sunset like effect on it. I know that throughout this game it explores a viarity of camera angles, but in this screenshot it appears to only show a centre camera angle shot. The amount of angles explored in this game will appeal a lot too the audience because it will make the game appear to be more realistic and give it a sense of feeling as if you are actually the character in the game .
  • 3. Existing Product This is existing product example, looks too be very similar of which how I am planning on making my game look, I know this just by looking at it because of one simple reason and that is the fact that it is set in the animation pixel format and that is how I am planning on making my game in the format of. Although that this isn’t exactly in the same style of how I want my game to look, it also kind of is in some way because with my game I am basing it around one adventure trail were you have too make it to the end, where as this game, it can be seen as the whole surroundings of it is one never ending adventure trail that keeps on going on. So in some way it is similar too how I want my production too look but not quite exactly how I want it to be created. The audience around this game is more based around the younger age range, which can be seen by this screenshot. The way that it makes use of a different coloured background//setting is good as it helps to appeal to that set audience, as the bright coloured background gives a much more appealing sense towards it//which makes it more appealing to play and makes more people want to play it. The fact that the camera angle is set more towards the first person light will also make it much more appealing and make people want too buy it, just for the first person sense//appeal when playing the game.
  • 4. Existing Product This is an example of an already existing product animation game. This existing product on a whole is the closest in similarity to how I want my product to look, this is due to the fact how there is two main characters who are about to battle. This is how I am planning on making my game in the style of, but obviously without the star Wars characters and having lightsabers to fight with. My product will be including an adventure trail of which you have too climb with the enemy ‘M’ falling down in various places , trying to hit the Rock star ‘R’ . This product would appeal too it’s audience because, it will be based around a very specific audience for it too appeal and that is a Star wars audience. So yes before looking at the rest of the category's it would automatically appeal to its audience, as If they had a strong interest in the film, they would automatically want to play//view//buy the game, without a second doubt.
  • 5. Existing Product This is an more older style of an already existing product. It again is similar to my already existing product in different ways and that is immediately due to the fact that it Is set more in animation form but more in pixels, which is again how I am planning on creating my game, also it shows as if the two of them are about to turn and have a fight, which gives a clear representation upon how it is more set around a fighting game, as shown by how it looks as if they are about to turn around and fight. The fighting sense of the game isn’t really that much of a similarity to how I am planning on making my product as the battle//fight part of my game isn’t really presented in this manor//but in a different one, which keeps the audience intereged. The lighting of this already existing product is very light, as shown by the fact that it doesn't actually appear to have a background, it is just plain white from the lighting, this wont appeal//draw in the audience because there isn’t really any background, this will draw them away from wanting to view it//play it//buy it. The camera angle shows the main playable characters too be in a dead centre shot, which gives it more detailed sense and helps to draw in the audience//viewers eye more, but I still believe that its not enough too make the audience want to buy it.
  • 6. Research Analysis • What common features do the researched products have? • From the products of which I have researched they all have common features, one of them main common features is that they are all based around being animation games and in some form they are all based around being in the pixel form. • 19. Interview 1 • “What would you like too see in an adv. Game?” • “Well.. In an adv.game I would like to see many good points that will help draw in the attention of the audience, so for example, think about what you are going too base your adv.Game around i.e. make it something that is strong and will stand out to other types of adv.Games , also be sure to make it something that will appeal to a wider audience, so a product//topic that has a wide audience spectrum where you will be able to analyse the audience in depth.” • “As well as ur initial idea being good and strong you also need to make sure that you will make the material i.e. background and any assets to a good quality so that, it will still keep the audience to a good manor of interest and possibly expand the audience spectrum to a better scale.”

However based around the style of which you have planed on making your production for// I believe that your background should be more of a light city//country background.
  • 22. Interview 2 • Observation: From looking at the following interview, I believe that I can make the observation that people prefer the idea of a more lighter and detailed background. • What this says about my audience: From looking at this it says about my audience that they prefer the idea of having a more brighter set background with the idea of it being in an in-depth detail, either city or country side… although country side background setting is more favoured. • How will your product appeal to this audience: My product will appeal too this audience because I am already planning on creating my production around the set idea of having a lighter background, too make it sound more appealing towards the audience, inparticualr the more countryside style.
  • 23. Audience Profile Category Demographic Content to appeal to this audience Age Range 14-30 • 14 is around the age of which you would start to drink energy drinks and 30 is around the age you would stop drinking them. Content would appeal as from the fact that it Is based around an energy drink company. Social Status CCC//BBC • I believe that my production will initially appeal to this audience because the idea of drinking this style of energy drinks, also this the audience that would mainly take interest in these things.
  • 25. Research Evaluation • Give an overview of how you conducted your research. Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each method – Product Research – For my product research I simply went onto google images and sourced some screenshots of already existing products//of which I thought where similar too of how I would like my product to look. – The main strength of this method of research in my opinion is the fact that I am able to view already existing products and be able to even take ideas from them of which I could use in my actual production. – The main weakness in my opinion is the fact that there is so many already existing products that I couldn’t work out which to chose and analyse//that I could relate too how I wanted my production to look. - Questionnaires - Too create the questionnaires I simply took the idea of using a website called survey monkey and using that to form together the questions I used too ask people about there specific preferences. - In my opinion the main strength of this questionnaire, is the idea of being able to get more specific responses and actually be able to find out what is more appealing towards the audience. - One of the main weaknesses that I feel that is important, is one of the main difficulties is the fact that the questionnaires are based towards a more wider audience, instead on more individually based. – Interviews – To conduct this style of research, I simply created some questions to ask people and they had to answer them with a good enough response. – The main strengths of this method of research is the idea that I was able to ask people the questions and get individual responses, which made the audience agenda more focus based and this helps how to make my production. – One of the weaknesses of which I believe is that some of the people may not have answered the questions truthfully//they might have just rushed with answering the questions//not taken them seriously.
  • 26. Research Evaluation – What sort of a response did you get? On a whole I believe that I received good and strong responses and good enough ones of which make me able to think about how I want my production too look and the style of which I would want my production too turn out, this was to do with the responses that I got of my questionnaires and my interviews. – How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage and a disadvantage – Too distribute my survey I more took the idea of using social media, this was one of my main methods of which I used to distribute my survey as I believe that I was able to spread it around much more and I had a better chance of getting more responses. But by doing that I believe some of the responses wont have been good and honest responses, as I might not have known them//they not me, so they didn’t put any time or consideration into my survey. However I also distributed via email, so these responses would have been actually thought about, as for the emailed responses they will have been emailed to people I actually knew, which means that hopefully the responses would have been far more detailed.
