Ontology Based Approach for Classifying Biomedical Text AbstractsWaqas Tariq
Classifying biomedical literature is a difficult and challenging task, especially when a large number of biomedical articles should be organized into a hierarchical structure. Due to this problem, various classification methods were proposed by many researchers for classifying biomedical literature in order to help users find relevant articles on the web. In this paper, we propose a new approach to classifying a collection of biomedical text abstracts by using ontology alignment algorithm that we have developed. To accomplish our goal, we construct the OHSUMED disease hierarchy as the initial training hierarchy and the Medline abstract disease hierarchies as our testing hierarchy. For enriching our training hierarchy, we use the relevant features that extracted from selected categories in the OHSUMED dataset as feature vectors. These feature vectors then are mapped to each node or concept in the OHSUMED disease hierarchy according to their specific category. Afterward, we align and match the concepts in both hierarchies using our ontology alignment algorithm for finding probable concepts or categories. Subsequently, we compute the cosine similarity score between the feature vectors in probable concepts, in the genrichedh OHSUMED disease hierarchy and the Medline abstract disease hierarchy. Finally, we predict a category to the new Medline abstracts based on the highest cosine similarity score. The results obtained from the experiments demonstrate that our proposed approach for hierarchical classification performs slightly better than the multi-class flat classification.
This document discusses different types of mutations including chromosome and gene mutations. Chromosome mutations involve changes in chromosome number, such as through nondisjunction, or changes in chromosome structure like deletions, duplications, translocations, and inversions. Gene mutations are changes in the DNA sequence and can be point mutations or frameshift mutations, altering protein synthesis. Mutations provide variation that can be selected for or against, acting as raw material for evolutionary adaptation and change over generations.

Distribution of Nairobi Stock Exchange 20 Share Index Returns: 1998-2011Waqas Tariq
The assumption that returns of daily share index prices are normally distributed has long been disputed by the data. In this paper, the normality assumption has been tested using time series data of daily Nairobi Stock Exchange 20-Share Index (NSE 20-Share Index) for the period 1998- 2011. It has been confirmed that the share price index returns does not follow the normal distribution. Other symmetrical distributions have been fit to the data i.e. logistic distribution and t- location scale distribution. With the aid of a programming language; Matlab we have computed the various Maximum Likelihood (ML) estimates from this distributions and tested how well they fit to the data. It has been established that the NSE 20 Share Index returns follows a t-location scale distribution (normal inverse gamma mixture). We recommend that since we have found that the normal inverse gamma mixture best fits the NSE 20 Share Index return, other normal mixtures can be investigated how well they fit this data.

This document contains calculations for a water tank and pump station project in Nicaragua. It includes hydraulic calculations to determine needed tank capacity based on population and water usage. Structural calculations are shown to check that the soil can support the weight of water tanks and that the concrete slab thickness is sufficient to resist shear forces from soil expansion/contraction. Electrical requirements are noted as using the local power grid's single phase supply. Key values like population, soil properties, material strengths, and component sizes are defined. The document concludes the soil can support the tanks and the minimum slab thickness is 16.7 cm.

Be Part of the Party to Celebrate the International Year of Pulses: Dry Beans...Alice Henneman
This document discusses pulses and the International Year of Pulses in 2016. It defines pulses as dried beans, peas and lentils and outlines the 5 key messages promoted by the UN about pulses: they are nutritious, economically accessible and contribute to food security, have health benefits, foster sustainable agriculture, and promote biodiversity. The document provides examples of common pulses and recipes for incorporating pulses into meals, and emphasizes pulses' health benefits like weight control, heart health, cancer prevention, diabetes and constipation relief. It also discusses ways to prevent gas from pulses and resources for more information.
ATP is the energy-rich compound that provides energy for living things. It is produced through photosynthesis, which uses light energy from the sun to convert carbon dioxide and water into glucose and oxygen. Photosynthesis has two stages - the light-dependent reactions in which ATP and NADPH are produced, and the light-independent reactions in which CO2 is reduced to glucose using those energy carriers. Cellular respiration breaks down glucose and other nutrients to release energy, producing carbon dioxide and water. It has four stages - glycolysis, the link reaction, the Krebs cycle, and the electron transport chain, in which ATP is produced through the oxidation of NADH and FADH2. Anaerobic respiration can also
1. Развитие познавательных способностей детей в процессе совместной исследовательской деятельности, практических экспериментов, наблюдений, опытов с растениями и цветами;
2. Развивать у детей представление о цветах, способом и особенностями их выращивания, последовательности их роста и развития. Дать представление о влиянии растений и цветов на человека и природу;
3. Поддерживать стремление детей активно вступать в познавательное общение, высказывать своё мнение, развитие связной речи и обогащение словаря детей;
4. Развитие наблюдательности, любознательности, умении анализировать, объяснять, рассуждать;
5. Воспитывать стремление к познанию природы через творческую, познавательно – исследовательскую деятельность;
