What is it?
During your PMP exam you will com across stakeholder
engagement techniques. It is important to know the difference
between the various Power/Influence (2D) models and the
Salience Model (3D).
Power & Influence versus the Salience Model
What is Salience Model?
Salience Model describes the classes of
stakeholders based on assessments of their:
• Power (level of authority or ability to influence
the outcomes of the project)
• Urgency (need for immediate attention, either
time-constrained or relating to the stakeholders’
high stake in the outcome)
• Legitimacy (their involvement is appropriate).
Useful for large complex communities of stakeholders or where there
are complex networks of relationships

projects or for projects with simple relationships between
stakeholders and the project.

  • 3. What is it? During your PMP exam you will com across stakeholder engagement techniques. It is important to know the difference between the various Power/Influence (2D) models and the Salience Model (3D). Power & Influence versus the Salience Model
  • 4. What is Salience Model? Salience Model describes the classes of stakeholders based on assessments of their: • Power (level of authority or ability to influence the outcomes of the project) • Urgency (need for immediate attention, either time-constrained or relating to the stakeholders’ high stake in the outcome) • Legitimacy (their involvement is appropriate). Useful for large complex communities of stakeholders or where there are complex networks of relationships Power & Influence versus the Salience Model
