What Do You Understand by the Term Deep Shallow Ecology
Deep ecology is a contemporary ecological philosophy that recognizes the inherent worth of other
beings aside from their utility. The philosophy emphasizes the interdependent nature of human and
non human life as well as the importance of the ecosystem and natural processes. It provides a
foundation for the environmental, ecology and green movements and has fostered a new system of
environmental ethics.
According to deep ecologists, the root, or deep cause of environmental destruction is
anthropocentrism, the worldview that holds humans are (1) that which has highest or the only intrinsic
value, (2) are fundamentally different and separate from nature, and (3) the dominant focus of our
attention. This anthropocentric worldview has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Deep ecologists also tend to criticize the reformist environmentalism exemplified by large,
mainstream environmental organizations that work within the political system to gain policy victories
without challenging society s main assumptions and values that are the ultimate cause of
environmental degradation. Some deep ecologists also have criticized the animal rights movement as
maintaining an implicitly anthropocentric view that extends human rights to at least some animals, and
in so doing upholding a hierarchical view of nature (animals are more important than plants). They
also object to the individualist approach common among animal liberationists, which they believe
neglects the importance of whole systems.
There has been a vigorous, and at times shrill, debate between proponents of deep ecology and other
schools of radical environmental thought. Ecofeminism has criticized deep ecology for neglecting the
close ties between environmental thought and social ideology, especially the long standing tendency to
associate nature with the female and then devaluing and oppressing both. Similarly, it has criticized
deep ecology s general neglect of social problems that are caused by the logic of domination, in which
some social groups are assumed to have more value and have the right to control and use others, the
same logic of domination that fuels

Explain Why Cell Biology Embodies All The Principles Of Life
1. Cell biology embodies all the principles of life
2. Cells are small because they are limited by the surface area to volume ratio. The volume of the cell
allows for the total number of chemical activity it carries out during an amount of time. The surface
area of a cell determines the number of substances that go into the cell from the outside of the cell. It
is also determined by the number of waste products that are able to go to the environment. The cell
must be a certain volume in order to allow for a big enough surface area to volume ratio which lets
substances in and out of the cell as well as allowing chemical reactions to occur.
3. The plasma membrane is important to cells because it is a selectively permeable barrier which does

The Accessibility Of The Environment
what are barriers?
Beyond the design of the environment, the accessibility will be related to the behaviors of its users and
owners. According to guidelines, it is only persons with disabilities for whom barriers becomes major
obstacle but it is necessary to realize that every person, at some stage of life face barriers like an
elderly person, a pregnant lady, the temporary disabled, all are vulnerable to barriers. Barriers not only
make environment unsafe cause difficulty to users but also causes space out of reach, denying people
the opportunity of participation. The important concept for accessibility of environment is that of trip
chain . A typical trip consists of many links for e.g. to go to workplace from home, a person has : to go
from home to sidewalk, enter a vehicle, go out of vehicle to sidewalk, reach the entrance of building,
enter the building, move around in building and enter workstation. And each link can be further
divided in more detail, so if only one link is not accessible, then the journey becomes difficult.
(Ferneeuw, 2005)
Different type of barriers
According to Smith(1987), barriers faced by people with disabilities undertaking leisure related travel
are identified as: 1)intrinsic barriers, 2) environmental barriers, and 3) interactive barrier. Intrinsic
barriers are those resulting from an individual s own level of physical, cognitive or psychological
functioning. Environmental barriers are external to individual like attitudinal barriers,

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Market Failure
Introduction
The report introduces what market failure and Government is how government solve the problem and
explain market failures and their understanding. Knowledge in economics is also used in the report
such as public good, merit good, negative externalities and imperfect competition. And analysis of the
case: welfare policy.
The subject of this report is the market failure and the reasons and phenomena, and then is the case
study and the advantages and disadvantages. Market failure and the role of government in dealing
with them
Market failure
Market failure means situation in which an unregulated competitive market is inefficient because
prices fail to provide proper signals to consumers and producers.
As to the appearance of market failure, There is a monopoly or imperfect competition market makes it
not always has the most effective results. The externalities of market behavior may produce negative
spillover effect Market mechanism can t guarantee the supply of public goods. The incompleteness or
asymmetry of the market information causes the uncertainty in the economy. The income distribution

From a social point of view, the efficient level of output is the level at which the price of the product is
equal to the marginal social cost of production: the marginal cost of production plus the marginal
external cost of dumping effluent. In our example, each unit of output results in some effluent being
dumped. Therefore, whether we are looking at one firm s pollution or the entire industries, the
economic inefficiency is the excess production that results in too much effluent being dumped in the
river. The source of the inefficiency is the incorrect pricing of the price. We can encourage the firm to

Breezy Case
Executive Summary This case analysis explores the possibility of Breezy, a leading supplier of
carburators and air filters in North America, the possibility of developing offshore busines in countries
where car manufacturing is growing. The report is structured as follows: First, there are five important
questions that Breezy must consider and ask itself before developing a relationship with a new
customer. After Breezy decides to go offshore, it will have to go through the negotiating process,
which involves five steps. Breezy then, must have capabilities of how an offshore business is

it will finance the project. The report also talks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
e) Will Breezy be able to gain competitive advantage over local suppliers? Breezy could choose
between cost leadership strategy or product differentiation strategy. 2. How should it approach the
issue of negotiating with them? The negotiation process involves 5 steps: 1. Define objectives for the
partnership: Breezy should have benchmarks in which to compare their objectives with the
manufacturer s objectives. These will define whether they can meet common grounds when doing
business together. Examples of benchmarks include nature of agreement, duration of alliance,
expectations, key aspects to protect, etc 2. Assemble a negotiating team: Breezy will have a team that
represents all areas of the company affected by this relationship. In addition, the team will be
composed of a chief negotiator, an experienced interpreter, and senior management personnel and
personnel with knowledge of technical, operational, and legal details. The roles of the team will be to
choose a negotiating technique and conduct due dilligence on the parties involved, understand the
business and social customs of the country. 3. Establish trust: Breezy s negotiating team should first
build rapport with the manufacturers before presenting their proposals. 4. Establish the business
framework: After rapport has been established, the team should be able to draw an agreement where
all parties reach consensus, then outline the alliance in general

Space Flight Research Paper
Before launching a rocket into the unknown, there are a number of factors that need to be considered
before taking flight. Over the past 200,000 years, humans have adapted well to life on earth, through
many generations. Manned missions to space have only been occurring for 55 years and humans
haven t had the chance to adapt to its harsh environment and this can take a toll on the human body.
The more serious effects of long term space flight include weightlessness (muscle atrophy and
deterioration of the skeleton); slowing of the cardio vascular system functions, decrease in production
of red blood cells, balance disorder and an overall weakening of the immune system. Other minor
effects on the human body include fluid redistribution, loss of body mass, nasal ... Show more content

Deck Railing
Choosing the Right Style in Deck Railing
Whether you are building a new deck or just remodeling your old one, it is important to chose the
right style for your design. When choosing your new wrought iron deck railings it is important to keep
size, style, function, and safety all in mind. As these four things are the most important aspects to
consider. Below you will find more information that might help you better decide which railing to go
with.
Choosing A Style
Railings come in several different styles. Therefore, you need to consider the style home you have
before you choose your iron railing. You don t want to have a modern railing if you house is an old
Victorian. The same goes for the opposite as well. You won t want to go with a classic design if you
have a newer modern home. You want to have a seamless look. That is why wrought iron railing ...

The railings is what keeps people in and people out. If you are trying to prevent entrance on and off of
your deck you might look into getting a high railing instead of a short one which is mainly used as a
side rail. However, side rails are great for those who are just wanting some type of basic railing around
their deck. Railing height is solely a personal opinion. Think about what you want out of your railing
in order to figure out which height you will need.
Think About Safety
One of the great things about wrought iron railing is it comes in a varieties of sizes and options.
Therefore it can be pretty custom to your wishes. If you have a family, or little ones around at all, you
need to take their safety into consideration. As with all railing wrought iron has gaps between each
rail, you will want to make sure that this railing is close enough together that little heads can t get
stuck in the sections. Wrought iron can also contain a locking mechanism so that kids can t get to the
stairs. These are a few things to remember when taking safety into consideration.

Β-Galactosidase Lab Report
With both the stock substrate and varying enzyme solutions prepared, the Spec20 spectrophotometer
was used to investigate the enzymatic activity of β Galactosidase through an absorbance based assay.
Using LoggerPro software on the computer to analyze the absorption data, the Spec20 was calibrated
before each run with 0.5 mL of the tested enzyme concentration at an absorbance of 420 nm. Data
collection was then started, instantly followed by the addition of 0.5 mL of the stock 2.5 mM substrate

From the stock substrate solution of 2.5 mM, each group serially diluted at least one different
substrate concentration for a total of four different substrate concentrations to be investigated: 1.25
mM, 1.0 mM, 0.75 mM, 0.25 mM. The enzyme concentration was kept constant at 2.0 mM while
experimenting on the affect of varying enzyme concentration on the rate and product formation of
ONP. Enough 2.0 mM enzyme solution was prepared in the previous part of the project to supply this
assay. Using similar procedure to collect absorbance data as the first part, 0.5 mL of 2.0 mM enzyme
concentration was placed into the cuvette and used to calibrate the spectrometer at 420 nm. Data was
then started, with the immediate addition of 0.5 mL of varying substrate concentrations. Each varying
substrate concentration was split between the team and run for a total of 10 minutes, with the
exception of the 1.25 mM run. Upon completion, data from each varying substrate concentration was

Introduction: For my research topic I have chosen this topic to analyse and to investigate about the

results or not. Mergers and acquisitions are very common and occur everywhere i.e. in organizations,
administrative units and businesses in all industries and of all sizes specially in banking sector and in

For example when a manufacture company buy or merge with another component maker company,
called a vertical merge (Stacey, 1970:33).
Literature review: Different tools and techniques in the forms of ratio analysis etc. are used by
scholars to identify the effects of mergers and acquisitions and interestingly different results are there
in the market. Performance can be measured on the basis of long term and short term time period; long
term performance can be checked on the basis of profitability of the firm. Fundamental analysis of the
company with the help of ratio analysis (kumar bansal, 2008)
Motives for mergers and acquisitions: in economic terms a merger or acquisition will only be
worthwhile if combining the two businesses will lead to gains which would not arise if the two
business stayed apart. In financial terms, the present value of bidding business plus, the present value
of target business plus, a gain in terms of increased income or reduced expenses from combining
(Samuels, wilikes and brayshaw, 1996).
Acquisitions as transformation category:
As compared with other types of transformation in a company, the characteristics of an acquisition is
that it can include almost all other transformation categories. The employees in the acquired
organization must go through a number of technical changes: new frame of reference, new
organization, new business model, new rules and processes, different working conditions, privileges,
etc. It

The Mask Of Teiresias In Oedipus The King
We chose to make a mask of Teiresias, who was a blind man and very wise. At the beginning of the
play, he tells Oedipus that he is the murderer of the previous king, Laius, that is causing the hardships
for Thebes including various plagues. We decided to make the mask half blind to symbolize how
Oedipus sees Teiresias even though he is the most blind because of not knowing his own past and its
effects. The black eye represents Tiresias actual blindness while still possessing the ability to see what
really happened in Oedipus earlier life. The red flower symbol is to represent Teiresias power of
knowing the king s past while Oedipus is oblivious to it. The swirl and dot symbolizes Teiresias
sarcasm during his conversation with Oedipus when

Looking At The Late Antique World
Looking at the Late Antique world, writes Peter Brown in his seminal work The World of Late
Antiquity, we are caught between the regretful contemplation of ancient ruins and the excited
acclamation of new growth. Brown s work covers the years 150 750 AD a period of time too often and
mistakenly labeled as the dark ages. Brown does not make this mistake. Instead, he challenges what
seemed to be a grounded notion that the study of Late Antiquity was one of decline and fall. This was
a time of transformation and continuity. Moreover, he moves beyond the narratives of the barbarian
invasions that brought about the end of the Roman Empire. There were no barbarian invasions, as they
were already gradually becoming Roman. That is, the barbarians had already started to assimilate to
Roman culture and, crucially, the Roman Empire did not end with the fall of Rome as its capitol
moved East. This is a constant theme running through the works of Brown. Where some historians see
decay, he sees growth.
Brown was arguing against the works of Mikhail Rostovtzeff and Edward Gibbon. Rostovtzeff evoked
a Roman world full of modern economic theory. He used terms such as capitalism and bourgeoisie in
his description of the ancient economy (ignoring the fact that they had no conception of these terms,
nor did they have a conception of an economy). This led to and seems to continue today a debate
between modernist and primitivist. While Brown does not deal with this

Gerard Nanley Hopkins’ Poem God’s Grandeur Essay
Gerard Nanley Hopkins Poem God s Grandeur
Gerard Nanley Hopkins poem God s Grandeur , illustrates the relationship connecting man and God.
Hopkins uses alliteration and stern tone to compliment the religious content of this morally ambitious
poem. The poem s rhythm and flow seem to capture the same sensation of a church sermon. The
diction used by Hopkins seems to indicate a condescending attitude towards society.
The first stanza states that we are charged with the grandeur of God , or the direct quality of God s
being. This statement begins to express the overall feel or idea of a lecture by stating that society will
be held accountable for its actions. Hopkins exhibits his lack of faith in humanity by stating that ...

All of these words create a dark visual image for the reader. Hopkins states that All is seared in trade
(Hopkins 880). This can be viewed as a possible metaphor for mankind s selfish ambition and greed.
He also feels that society experiences a form of desensitization towards the devastation of the land by
stating, The soil is bare now, nor can foot feel, being shod (Hopkins 880).
Hopkins final reflection conveys the apocalypse and the return of God. The application of the words
dearest and freshest in the third stanza suggests a very light and joyous mood. He states that even
though mankind destroys the Earth, God will still continue to provide for his people, And for all this,
nature is never spent (Hopkins 880). Hopkins now speaks in a tone of reassurance. The diction that
Hopkins uses seems to exemplify the forgiving nature of God and describes a very harmonious
setting. Hopkins accomplishes this setting by incorporating very positive, uplifting words and being
very descriptive. In the final line of the poem, Ah! , seems to indicate a response of surprise to seeing
God return with his bright wings .
Throughout the poem God s Grandeur , Hopkins creates a wide range of emotions by using descriptive
detail. The first stanza seems to cast judgment and blame on society; the second stanza reiterates this
idea with

The Reds Invade Afghanistan
The Reds Invade Afghanistan
In late December of 1979, Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (U.S.S.R.) troops began streaming into
Afghanistan by the thousands, marking the beginning of what would turn out to be a 10 year attempt
to support the Afghan Communist party that had taken power (Britannica, Soviet invasion of
Afghanistan, 2015). This paper demonstrates failures by the intelligence assets of the United States of
America(U.S.) regarding the U.S.S.R. s invasion of Afghanistan. The U.S. did not have a good
understanding of the U.S.S.R. s early involvement in Afghanistan; additionally, they failed to
understand that by giving training and aid to the Afghani insurgency, they were forcing the U.S.S.R. to

increased the number of military and civilian advisors dramatically since the coup; the civilian
advisors had taken managerial positions in the Afghan ministries (CIA, 1979, p. 8). These facts point
to the possibility that the U.S.S.R. s dedication to controlling Afghanistan was steadfast and the
military invasion would happen no matter if the U.S. supported the insurgents or not. On 19 December
1979 intelligence revealed the U.S.S.R. began moving massive amounts of men, supplies, and
equipment (MacEachin, 2007). They were also conducting operations to secure routes into
Afghanistan with troops that were already in the area (MacEachin, 2007). Reports began coming into

Ambiguity draws across anyone; when they are seeking a coherent meaning in their life. The fabric

How Is Harrison Bergeron Competitive
The story Harrison Bergeron is about a futuristic society where everyone is equal in every which way.
People in this society have handicaps to make sure they are as equal as everyone else. But a young
boy named Harrison Bergeron didn t seem to have an effect on his handicaps. He would always find a
way to overcome them and eventually he tries to take over the society and become emperor . This
action Harrison took may have been supported by motivation which could have been sparked by some
competition. The short story Harrison Bergeron, written by Kurt Vonnegut Jr., teaches its readers that
competition is the birthplace of motivation and or atrociousness.
Firstly, with everyone being equal, there would be no competition, so people wouldn t be motivated to
do their best. The year was 2081 and everyone was finally equal (Pg. 1).Without competition why
would people do their best, if they weren t gonna get the satisfaction of doing something better than

A grape is a fruiting berry of the deciduous vines. Grapes can be eaten raw or they can be used for
making wine, jam, juice, jelly, grape raisins, vinegar, and grape seed oil. Spanish explorers introduced
the fruit to America about 300 years ago. There are more than 8,000 grape varieties from 60 species.
There are many colors of grapes the colors are, green, red, black, yellow, pink, and purple. The white
grapes are actually green. One important product that grapes are made into is grape juice. Thomas

Wine was invented between 6000 and 5000 BC. Winemaking can be divided into two general
categories: still wine production and sparkling wine production. The people that make the wine are
called vintners or winemakers. A Vineyard is a plantation of grapevines and at the vineyard they use
the grapevines to make the grape juice. Then they make the grape juice into wine. The harvesting of
wine grapes is one of the most serious step in the process of winemaking. The time of harvest is
determined by the ripeness of the grape measured by sugar acid that are in the grapes. Also the weather

Institutional Critique Essay
When someone enters an art gallery, they believe they are going to view art, but under the guise of
Institutional Critique, this notion often false. Instead of being the traditional art of painting, sculptures,

against museums/galleries demanding them to view art and art exhibition in new ways, exemplified by

In 1971, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum was to present a solo show of Haacke s work, which
was to include the controversial piece, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum Board of Trustees (1974),
but the museum director cancelled the exhibition. This was partially due to Haacke s refusal to omit
the work from the show, but mostly because of the piece s subject matter. This piece consists of two
framed panels with lists of the museum s board of trustees, which would be acceptable to showcase
because this knowledge would be readily available, but Haacke added five more panels listing the
corporate sponsors of the museum along with each member s other affiliations with corporations. This
work exposed the inner mechanisms of the institution by revealing the trustees questionable
affiliations and the financial backers of the museum. In addition, this piece exemplifies Institutional
Critique precisely because of its focus on the museum itself over the artwork. After all, this piece
cannot be sold at auction, which is an essential aspect of galleries and museums. The piece is, to an
extent, also site specific in that the trust essence of the piece could only be felt if it was exhibited in

piece was not shown until Documenta X in 1997, but by that point, it had lost its critical value. Not

Essay about The 2012 Dilemma and the Media
It hasn t been even ten years and here we are all over again. For some reason the human race can not
wait to be extinct, and we are already on track for another Y2K scare. Every time you turn on the
History Channel there is another new program telling us how the world as we know it will end in a
little more than two years, sending every viewer into a state of shock, and turning every Tivo into a
doomsday prediction recorder from then on out. Now, I am all about putting out as much information
about our everyday world out there for all to bear witness, but I also believe in unbiased coverage of
events. For some reason television channels, the internet, and even movies have been telling the public
our lives are soon to end, and I have yet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The possible risks far outweigh the benefits in my eyes. 2012 also clashes with another idea, the idea
of virtue ethics. Now, these channels will cry out that they are merely educating the public about these
predictions (I use the term loosely) in order to allow the people to make the decision on their own. I
cry fowl play. The virtuous thing to do would to not only educate the public on the downs, but also the
ups, give both sides to the story, and make it a fair game. The History Channel is a well respected
station (I pick on them because they seem to have the most invested interest in 2012) that many people
get real factual updates, on , well history. For some reason the claim to be the future channel now, and
that is anything but virtuous. Unfortunately in this day and age, if any news reporter or television
show give the public any information on anything, it is automatically consumed as fact by assumption.
We all would like to believe, why would they lie to us , well there are many, many reasons why a
station would make false claims, report false news, and over exaggerate any claim made out there.
Why? Because nobody is held responsible. It boils down to this, just like any asshole on the internet
can post a blog hiding behind a computer screen, television can in essence be used the same way. Do
we really get to talk to the people behind Fox News, History Channel, or MSNBC face to face, person

Horror And Suspense In Alfred Hitchcock s Film Psycho
In the film Psycho directed by Alfred Hitchcock he used several shots and symbolism to get across the
theme of horror and suspense. This is particularly apparent in the parlor scene, which has a very
important role of developing the characters and showing the audience how the characters feel and how
they act.
When Marion and Norman are sitting in the parlour engaging in conversation, Hitchcock uses a
slightly upwards facing shot on Norman, showing he is slightly sinister and aggressive, yet he is
sitting in a relaxed and calming manner, showing he is split in personality. In this scene this is shown
in another way by the lighting over Norman s face, half of his face are in the shadows while the other

Hut and scholastic challenge. The teachers made us do reports to make sure we were actually reading
the books. However, I think even back then I was in a rush to get my stars that I skimmed through the

book that really caught my attention was Where the Red Fern Grows. I remember having

The Shattering of Idealism in Nadine Gerfimer´s The Moment...
Literature changed drastically between the nineteenth century and twentieth and twenty first century.
Idealistic views that British writers once held, turned into skepticism as Great Britain enter war and
inequalities grew greater. The writers of the twentieth and twenty first centuries wrote realistically
what was happening in the world. The Moment before the Gun Went Off by Nadine Gordimer and The
Day They Burned the Books by Jean Rhys are both stories that show the shattering of Idealism in
twentieth and twenty first centuries.
Britain s colonialism caused many problems for natives and natural born British who lived in the
colonies. The illusion of patriotism shattered as conflicts of race, class, and gender equality took light.

One of the many reasons why patriotism was shattered is because coloialism was creating harsh
tensions. In The Moment before the Gun Went Off they discuss how the killing of the son is going to
turn into an ugly racial debate Bad enough to have killed a man, without helping the Party s, the
government s, the country s enemies (p.1442) The reader can conclude from this quote that because
great Britain colonized in South Africa it caused rifts between many people. People s patriotism tends
to dwell when all they see is conflict around them. The once idealistic views turn critical when war
and inequalities is all there is. The twentieth and twenty first century writers were common people
going through horrific times such as extreme racism.
In The Moment before the Gun Went Off and The Day They Burned the Books both stories leave the
reader thinking. Unlike, the 19th century; modern writers often left the end of the story open ended
because they didn t see an end to the conflict. Modern writers often wrote their own personal
experiences and feelings on a particular issue leaving much room for the reader to analyze.
The Day They Burned the Books tells a story of young boy trying to find where he fits in. His father is
from Great Britain and his mother is from the West Indies. Eddie hates England because he associates
with his father; a man who is often mean to his mother and says things Look at

Culture In The Nacirema
I believe culture is the attitudes and feelings a group of people share. Culture can include practices
like rituals and customs like religion. It is how you eat, drink, and speak. Culture can be either tacit or
explicit. Tacit is very much like an unspoken behavior, it is something people lack words for. Explicit
culture can be spoken or written. No matter what category culture falls into it truly makes us different
from one another. It is everywhere shaping people all around the world every day. The Nacirema May
sound like strange a tribe, but if you read very closely you will notice they are not. Nacirema is
American spelled backwards and latipso is ospital backwards which almost spells hospital. In this
passage the American people are really the ones who are being talked about. All the rituals that are
spoken of describe our everyday life. Bathrooms are described as shrines and medicine cabinets as
charm boxes. Doctors are referred to as medicine men and dentists to holy mouth men as they rid the
mouth of evils. The story of the Nacirema really does make a good point about out how we have a
ridiculous amount of medications, and we take unnecessary trips to the hospital too often. Miner, the
author is trying to illustrate the obsessions of the American people like our obsession with self image
and health and how strange and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Booker appears to be in a town hall meeting, he is orchestrating conflict with this young lady. The
lady is expressing to Booker that citizens of Newark have had enough of all the empty promises and
lies made by politicians. At this point, Booker says to her that he needs her help in hearing what the
people on the streets are saying. This is when she openly supports the claim by Mayor James stating
Booker lied about living in the brick towers. Booker directs this conversation away from the lie, and
towards the facts and realties he wants her to see. He is the change the city needs despite the rumors.
Of the three elements of leadership, this is the one Mayor Sharpe James lacks the most. He is not open
to any oppositions whatsoever, and this is seen in the film when he discovers the camera man is a
supporter of Cory Booker. He insisted that he be removed from the event by police and stop recording.

The Service Marketing Mix Should Now
In today s world, the service sector dominates the different economies of developed and developing
nations. Services require different management activities, it differs a lot from the marketing of goods
(Berry, 1980). Indeed, services are considered as intangible, variable and perishable
(marketingteacher.com). Thus, we can say that the traditional 4 p s are not sufficient anymore. Indeed,
the service marketing mix should now include three other elements, which are the physical evidence,
the people and finally, the service process (learnmarketing.net). In addition, we can say that the
marketing of goods is not as critical as the management of services quality, which occurs through the
monitoring of customer satisfaction. In contrary to the marketing of goods which is more focused on
the physical product component, services require a certain customer loyalty, this implying having
good service marketing skills.
In this essay, a general framework on the applicability of the theatre metaphor to the services will be
discussed. Key concepts and also the underpinnings of the drama metaphor will be presented. To do
so, models acquired in class will be used, as well as relevant references from textbook.

Persuasive Essay On Dog Breeding
For being man s supposed best friend, humans too often make choices to benefit themselves instead of
dogs. People decide what traits make a dog cute and disregard what traits make them healthy. Dog
breeding is a harmful practice for dogs both biologically and culturally due to superficial standards.
These dogs are bred to be cute, but that cuteness can inadvertently carry a gene that can lead to
disease, or even the cuteness itself could be debilitating, such as with the poster pug s flat face makes
breathing significantly more difficult. Dogs are living, breathing creatures and the standards set for
their reproduction should factor their well being into the standard of the dog.
Dog breeding is dangerous because to make a perfect dog they too often inbreed and cause birth
defects and other health issues in dogs. Terry Allen, an In These Times senior editor who has written

dog from the pain, breathing difficulties, cancer, panoply of debilitating genetic disorders, mental
illness, crippling physiognomy and shortened life span that disproportionately plague purebreds. The
article Selective Breeding or Artificial Selection explains that in dogs, the frequency of being

Osiris Thesis
Osiris is the first child of Nut and Geb. This makes the siblings of Osiris Seth, Nephthys, and Isis.
Osiris married Isis, and they had one son Horus. One day, Nephthys took the form of Isis. Osiris had
another child, and his name was Anubis. Since Osiris was the firstborn son, he became the king after
Geb s death. He ruled Egypt with his sister and wife Isis. During Geb s reign, the people of Egypt
were uncivilized and cannibals. Osiris was disgusted and ended that. He civilized the people of Egypt
by teaching them what to eat, the art of agriculture, how to worship the gods, and he set up laws for
the citizens. The god Thoth also helped by inventing the arts and sciences and naming things. Osiris
was then known as the best king of Egyptian

Misconceptions Of Hypnotism
When people hear the word hypnotism , most of them think that it is somewhat like a trick, a magic or
an illusion. Some of them believe that a simple look at the eyes of a strange person can hypnotize
them. Some of them think that a person who hypnotize uses a pendulum like object that catches the
attention of his victim. Lots of incidents were recorded that hypnotism is said to be used in robbery.
Stories tell that strangers talk to their victims and look at their eyes. They will tell something to their
victims until they become unaware of the things around them, and when they regain consciousness,
they will notice that something s missing from them. This study will help its readers to know more
about hypnotism. It will remove ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Brain wave pattern shifts, pulse and breathing slow and blood pressure drop. This causes the
modification of the body s problem behavior. What are the misconceptions and dangers about
hypnotism? According to www.umm.edu.com, hypnotherapy is not simply consulting a doctor. Proper
diagnosis is needed to know what illnesses should be treated. Inaccurate diagnosis may lead to the
development of false memories called confabulations. The study of (Hughes, 2006),added that some
people think that it is just a trick played by a magician. It can be dangerous if the one to hypnotize is
not trained and it will result to false memories. A study made by (Bradford, 1996) supported this
argument. Those studies found out that stories of many people taken care by hypnotists were heard,
but not in a qualified practitioner. Another misconception was studied by (London, 2007). In his
studies, people once believed that hypnotist can force their subject to do criminal acts, which is
definitely wrong. A person to be hypnotized can and does resist suggestion. They do not loose control
of distinguishing right from

A Systematic Search Of The Database Psycinfo
Investigatory Design A systematic search of the database PsycINFO was conducted, as this research
repository is considered the leading scholarly file of research in the social and behavioral sciences
worldwide. Table 1 presents the volume of reference citations regarding drawing tests indexed in
PsycINFO. This output illustrates that 73% of all references have appeared since 1989 (614 of 840
citations) based on Total output; for journal references (69%), for books (88%), for dissertations
(89%). Based on this analysis there has been no decline on the volume of research on drawing
techniques evident in journal publications or books over the past decade. Table 2 summarizes survey
findings of both academic and applied settings on training emphasis andusage of drawing techniques
since 1989. This analysis includes the 60 published studies that were identified in journal publications,
based on clinician/practitioner and academic/trainingsamples, although the vast majority of the data
pool is based on research conducted in the USA. Findings Of note, 2 caveats are in order: First, survey
results are almost always based only on those respondents who use tests or based on official clinical
records;hence, many studies report data on less than 50% of sample surveyed due to a high percentage
of non responders. Thus, in the aggregate, individual tests may be popular , but only within the
parameters of professionals who rely on tests in assessment. Second, an individual test s ranking is

How Did Camp X Become Successful
Camp X was a North American training school used to train both men and women into becoming
successful spies who would later be dropped into enemy territory at the end of their training course.
Camp X was successful in training these men and women because it taught them everything they
needed to know about how to become successful spies and it taught them how to deal with real life
scenarios such as unarmed killing and sabotage.
Camp X was created on December 6, 1941, during World War II, when Adolf Hitler s forces were
dominating Western Europe, the allies knew that general warfare would not be enough to defeat the
Nazi s. Camp X also known as its official name Special Training School 103 was the first North
American training school. They then created Camp X to train spies and drop the spies into enemy
territory so they can gather all sorts of information from the enemies. The location of Camp X was
chosen with a great deal of thought, it was located on the shores of Lake Ontario, only 30 miles away
from America. This location was ideal for bouncing radio signals between countries like Europe,
South America, London, and New York. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The recruits were trained by some of the most intelligent specialists that taught them sabotage,
subversion, unarmed killing, silent killing, weapon training and different forms of communication.
Camp X had a one of the best radio and telecommunications center at the time called Hydra. Hydra
was used to send top secret messages between President Roosevelt and Winston Churchill. They used
this to their advantage and they strategized their next moves for the war,

Cellular adaptations of growth and differentiation
In order to function properly, the cells and tissues have to maintain a steady state (homeostasis) the
cells must constantly adapt cellular adaptation is the state between a normal unstressed cell and the
overstressed injured cell by definition an adaptative process is reversible within defined limits, all the
cells are capable of adapting to a variety of stimuli which may upset normality
NORMAL CELL GROWTH Normal tissue growth depends on a balance between the number of cells
actively dividing and the number of the cells dying the cells of the body can be divided into 3 groups
on the basis of their regenerative capacity they respond differently to stress and injury ... Show more

Atrophy is a decrease in the size of tissue or organ resulting from decrease either in the size of
individual cells or in the number of cells composing the tissue atrophy decrease in size of normally
developed organ. It is different from agenesis, aplasia, hypoplasia which are abnormalities of organ
development. atrophy decrease in the size of the cell results from the loss or reduction of cell
substances, reduction of the number of cytoplasmic organelles associated with diminished cell
function
Atrophy represents a reduction of cell structural components less mitochondria less endoplasmic
reticulum fewer myofilaments metabolic rate is reduced less amino acid uptake less oxygen
consumption less protein synthesis
Degenerating organelles are taken up in lysosomal vacuoles for enzymatic digestion, process is
represented by marked increase in the number of autophagic vacuoles many autophagic vacuoles may
resist digestion residual bodies some of them contain lipofuscin granules brown atrophy
atrophy may progress to cell injury and death, a decrease in cell number results from cell death due to
irreversible cell injury when sufficient number of cells is involved the entire tissue or organ
diminishes in size= becomes atrophic connective tissue or adipose tissue fills

The English Revolution or more commonly known as the English Civil War, which occurred during
the years of 1642 till 1651, it is known as a period of armed conflict, and when different political ideas
emerged, a time of transition not only for the people but also for the Crown and parliament. In this
academic composition, we will deal with the causes as well as the consequences of the English
Revolution, and how all of them together affected their political life. The Civil War was mainly a
conflict that between the Parliament and the Royalist who in this specific case were the supporters of
the monarchy and of King Charles I (1600 1649). During the period of Charles I in the throne it was
known as personal rule of Charles , he was recognized ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Power of the Kings is just what the law gives him, and effectively the law is what the courts can
enforce (Sabine, 2009, pág. 448). But according to Charles I ideology he was a strong believer in the
Divine right, and due to this reason he thought that no one could question his decisions a doctrine
which is completely opposite to the what the parliament stands for, he wanted to take away the power
from the people and the authorities, which at the end came to be something that influenced the Civil
War (Causes of the Civil War, 2013). Right before at the beginning of the Civil War, there was a
growing tension of the growing middle class and the King courts when this reached a breaking point
the Civil War occurred. At last, the money was one of the primary factors at the outbreak of the Civil
War, King Charles I had an extravagant lifestyle and also he financed military campaigns in several
countries, but in order to get provided with money, he needed to call the parliament, and as well as for
the imposing of taxes. Charles began to impose fees on landowners without the permission of the
parliament which caused discontent and tensions between

Educating The World s Future
Adolescent minds have always been the key to the world s future. Children are put in school from a
young age and taught a curriculum that can be challenge [challenging?], yet the results are rewarding.
Without education, there would be known literacy. No doctors, engineers, or even teachers. With each
generation that is brought up, there are new concepts and skills taught. What you to be just reading,
writing, and arithmetic, now has expanded into classes such as horticulture. With more skills being
taught now at younger ages, many wonder just how exactly these children retain this knowledge into
adulthood. Children have often been referred to as sponges; soaking up every image, word, and idea
that is ran by them in everyday life. As I began to prepare for this assignment, I was struck with many
question pertaining to the retention of knowledge, but specifically the use of repetition to aid retention.
I first began this assignment once reviewing my literacy narrative once more for inspiration. I began
by asking simple questions that later stemmed into more involved inquires. The first being, why did
Bill Martin Jr. choose to compose Brown Bear Brown Bear the way he did? The question led me to
think deeper and I ask myself, Was Bill Martin Jr. intentionally using repetition in his book, or was it a
happy accident? This led me to question his writing style and illustration choice. I could not contain
the questions my mind was throwing at me. There were then more inquiries to

A Brief Note On The Cms Hospital Quality Initiative And...
1. What is Hospital Compare?
Hospital compare is a tool that is part of the CMS Hospital Quality Initiative and has information
about the quality of care that is provided to its consumers. There are more than 4,000 Medicare
hospitals throughout the country that use this tool. This initiative was developed to assure quality
health care for consumers through the use of public disclosure as well as accountability of healthcare
staff. It is intended to allow consumers to make better decisions about what hospital they choose to
receive health care based on the level of quality of care the hospital provides. With that said, the
initiative encourages hospitals, providers, and clinicians to provide better quality of care for their
patients.

The payments are compared with the national average for each of these conditions. Furthermore, the
payment measures along with the patient outcomes are used to assess the hospital s value of care.
3. Further explain the information that can be viewed about:
1) Timely and effective care measures
2) Readmission, complications, and deaths
Timely and effective care measure data shows how fast and how often common conditions and care
such as heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care, ED care, preventive care, children s
asthma care, stroke care, blood clots prevention and treatment, and pregnancy and delivery care are
being evaluated by hospitals and are being recommended for treatment. Each condition has its own set
of quality measures that every (Medicare) hospital should abide by.
Heart attack has 6 quality measures. The first one focuses on what the average in minutes is for a
patient to be transferred to another facility to be treated for a heart attack in the event the facility does
not have the proper resources to treat that patient. The time is measured from the moment the patient
arrived to the ED to when he/she was transferred out. The second quality measure focuses on how
quickly an EKG is ordered for a patient who is having a heart attack. In order to meet this measure, an
EKG should be ordered within 10 minutes of arrival. The third quality measure focuses on what the
percentage was of those patients who were

  • 2. What Do You Understand by the Term Deep Shallow Ecology Deep ecology is a contemporary ecological philosophy that recognizes the inherent worth of other beings aside from their utility. The philosophy emphasizes the interdependent nature of human and non human life as well as the importance of the ecosystem and natural processes. It provides a foundation for the environmental, ecology and green movements and has fostered a new system of environmental ethics. According to deep ecologists, the root, or deep cause of environmental destruction is anthropocentrism, the worldview that holds humans are (1) that which has highest or the only intrinsic value, (2) are fundamentally different and separate from nature, and (3) the dominant focus of our attention. This anthropocentric worldview has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Deep ecologists also tend to criticize the reformist environmentalism exemplified by large, mainstream environmental organizations that work within the political system to gain policy victories without challenging society s main assumptions and values that are the ultimate cause of environmental degradation. Some deep ecologists also have criticized the animal rights movement as maintaining an implicitly anthropocentric view that extends human rights to at least some animals, and in so doing upholding a hierarchical view of nature (animals are more important than plants). They also object to the individualist approach common among animal liberationists, which they believe neglects the importance of whole systems. There has been a vigorous, and at times shrill, debate between proponents of deep ecology and other schools of radical environmental thought. Ecofeminism has criticized deep ecology for neglecting the close ties between environmental thought and social ideology, especially the long standing tendency to associate nature with the female and then devaluing and oppressing both. Similarly, it has criticized deep ecology s general neglect of social problems that are caused by the logic of domination, in which some social groups are assumed to have more value and have the right to control and use others, the same logic of domination that fuels ... • 3. Explain Why Cell Biology Embodies All The Principles Of Life 1. Cell biology embodies all the principles of life 2. Cells are small because they are limited by the surface area to volume ratio. The volume of the cell allows for the total number of chemical activity it carries out during an amount of time. The surface area of a cell determines the number of substances that go into the cell from the outside of the cell. It is also determined by the number of waste products that are able to go to the environment. The cell must be a certain volume in order to allow for a big enough surface area to volume ratio which lets substances in and out of the cell as well as allowing chemical reactions to occur. 3. The plasma membrane is important to cells because it is a selectively permeable barrier which does ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Accessibility Of The Environment what are barriers? Beyond the design of the environment, the accessibility will be related to the behaviors of its users and owners. According to guidelines, it is only persons with disabilities for whom barriers becomes major obstacle but it is necessary to realize that every person, at some stage of life face barriers like an elderly person, a pregnant lady, the temporary disabled, all are vulnerable to barriers. Barriers not only make environment unsafe cause difficulty to users but also causes space out of reach, denying people the opportunity of participation. The important concept for accessibility of environment is that of trip chain . A typical trip consists of many links for e.g. to go to workplace from home, a person has : to go from home to sidewalk, enter a vehicle, go out of vehicle to sidewalk, reach the entrance of building, enter the building, move around in building and enter workstation. And each link can be further divided in more detail, so if only one link is not accessible, then the journey becomes difficult. (Ferneeuw, 2005) Different type of barriers According to Smith(1987), barriers faced by people with disabilities undertaking leisure related travel are identified as: 1)intrinsic barriers, 2) environmental barriers, and 3) interactive barrier. Intrinsic barriers are those resulting from an individual s own level of physical, cognitive or psychological functioning. Environmental barriers are external to individual like attitudinal barriers, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Therefore, whether we are looking at one firm s pollution or the entire industries, the economic inefficiency is the excess production that results in too much effluent being dumped in the river. Over the past 200,000 years, humans have adapted well to life on earth, through many generations. Manned missions to space have only been occurring for 55 years and humans haven t had the chance to adapt to its harsh environment and this can take a toll on the human body. The more serious effects of long term space flight include weightlessness (muscle atrophy and deterioration of the skeleton); slowing of the cardio vascular system functions, decrease in production of red blood cells, balance disorder and an overall weakening of the immune system. Performance can be measured on the basis of long term and short term time period; long term performance can be checked on the basis of profitability of the firm. Fundamental analysis of the company with the help of ratio analysis (kumar bansal, 2008) Motives for mergers and acquisitions: in economic terms a merger or acquisition will only be worthwhile if combining the two businesses will lead to gains which would not arise if the two business stayed apart. In financial terms, the present value of bidding business plus, the present value of target business plus, a gain in terms of increased income or reduced expenses from combining (Samuels, wilikes and brayshaw, 1996). At the beginning of the play, he tells Oedipus that he is the murderer of the previous king, Laius, that is causing the hardships for Thebes including various plagues. We decided to make the mask half blind to symbolize how Oedipus sees Teiresias even though he is the most blind because of not knowing his own past and its effects. The black eye represents Tiresias actual blindness while still possessing the ability to see what really happened in Oedipus earlier life. • 12. Looking At The Late Antique World Looking at the Late Antique world, writes Peter Brown in his seminal work The World of Late Antiquity, we are caught between the regretful contemplation of ancient ruins and the excited acclamation of new growth. Brown s work covers the years 150 750 AD a period of time too often and mistakenly labeled as the dark ages. Brown does not make this mistake. Instead, he challenges what seemed to be a grounded notion that the study of Late Antiquity was one of decline and fall. This was a time of transformation and continuity. Moreover, he moves beyond the narratives of the barbarian invasions that brought about the end of the Roman Empire. There were no barbarian invasions, as they were already gradually becoming Roman. That is, the barbarians had already started to assimilate to Roman culture and, crucially, the Roman Empire did not end with the fall of Rome as its capitol moved East. This is a constant theme running through the works of Brown. Where some historians see decay, he sees growth. Brown was arguing against the works of Mikhail Rostovtzeff and Edward Gibbon. Rostovtzeff evoked a Roman world full of modern economic theory. He used terms such as capitalism and bourgeoisie in his description of the ancient economy (ignoring the fact that they had no conception of these terms, nor did they have a conception of an economy). This led to and seems to continue today a debate between modernist and primitivist. While Brown does not deal with this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hopkins uses alliteration and stern tone to compliment the religious content of this morally ambitious poem. The poem s rhythm and flow seem to capture the same sensation of a church sermon. The diction used by Hopkins seems to indicate a condescending attitude towards society. The first stanza states that we are charged with the grandeur of God , or the direct quality of God s being. He also feels that society experiences a form of desensitization towards the devastation of the land by stating, The soil is bare now, nor can foot feel, being shod (Hopkins 880). Hopkins final reflection conveys the apocalypse and the return of God. The application of the words dearest and freshest in the third stanza suggests a very light and joyous mood. He states that even though mankind destroys the Earth, God will still continue to provide for his people, And for all this, nature is never spent (Hopkins 880). Hopkins now speaks in a tone of reassurance. The diction that Hopkins uses seems to exemplify the forgiving nature of God and describes a very harmonious setting. Hopkins accomplishes this setting by incorporating very positive, uplifting words and being very descriptive. In the final line of the poem, Ah! , seems to indicate a response of surprise to seeing God return with his bright wings . Throughout the poem God s Grandeur , Hopkins creates a wide range of emotions by using descriptive detail. This paper demonstrates failures by the intelligence assets of the United States of America(U.S.) regarding the U.S.S.R. s invasion of Afghanistan. The U.S. did not have a good understanding of the U.S.S.R. s early involvement in Afghanistan; additionally, they failed to understand that by giving training and aid to the Afghani insurgency, they were forcing the U.S.S.R. to commit to military occupation, and ... People in this society have handicaps to make sure they are as equal as everyone else. But a young boy named Harrison Bergeron didn t seem to have an effect on his handicaps. He would always find a way to overcome them and eventually he tries to take over the society and become emperor . This action Harrison took may have been supported by motivation which could have been sparked by some competition. The short story Harrison Bergeron, written by Kurt Vonnegut Jr., teaches its readers that competition is the birthplace of motivation and or atrociousness. Firstly, with everyone being equal, there would be no competition, so people wouldn t be motivated to do their best. The year was 2081 and everyone was finally equal (Pg. 1).Without competition why would people do their best, if they weren t gonna get the satisfaction of doing something better than everyone else or at least try to. Instead of being the traditional art of painting, sculptures, and installations, viewers encounter, in the work of Hans Haacke, Daniel Buren, and Michael Asher in the 1970s, not much to look at, but a lot to think about. In essence, Institutional Critique is a protest against museums/galleries demanding them to view art and art exhibition in new ways, exemplified by Conceptual art where words, video, readymades, and even ideas are art. This was partially due to Haacke s refusal to omit the work from the show, but mostly because of the piece s subject matter. This piece consists of two framed panels with lists of the museum s board of trustees, which would be acceptable to showcase because this knowledge would be readily available, but Haacke added five more panels listing the corporate sponsors of the museum along with each member s other affiliations with corporations. This work exposed the inner mechanisms of the institution by revealing the trustees questionable affiliations and the financial backers of the museum. In addition, this piece exemplifies Institutional Critique precisely because of its focus on the museum itself over the artwork. After all, this piece cannot be sold at auction, which is an essential aspect of galleries and museums. The piece is, to an extent, also site specific in that the trust essence of the piece could only be felt if it was exhibited in the institution it was criticizing, although Haacke never exhibited it at the Guggenheim. Now, these channels will cry out that they are merely educating the public about these predictions (I use the term loosely) in order to allow the people to make the decision on their own. I cry fowl play. The virtuous thing to do would to not only educate the public on the downs, but also the ups, give both sides to the story, and make it a fair game. The History Channel is a well respected station (I pick on them because they seem to have the most invested interest in 2012) that many people get real factual updates, on , well history. While it seems like a marked upgrade from the previous system in terms of accuracy and efficiency, it also can be excessively complicated and heavily affected insurance reimbursements, potential costing the patient more money. Because the ICD 10 uses a 3 7 alphanumerical system, versus the ICD 9 s 3 5 characters, codes can be far more accurate and detailed. This makes it easier to collect and convey important data quickly, enhancing patient care. The improved data collection will help providers and physicians improve procedures and structure for the betterment of the patient. And because the ICD 10 emphasizes accuracy, it makes it significantly more difficult for fraud to occur. However, because of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I selected this book because I wanted to know, who were these liars, what made them liars, and why would they openly accept that title of liar? I began reading the book, and the part that made me curious to continue reading the book was the first couple of lines. These lines explained by the main character stated that no matter what, the Sinclair family was perfect (8). If this family was so perfect, what happened? I wondered if it was the family s fault, or an event or another person s fault, which made me continue to read onto the next pages. • 40. Persuasive Essay On Dog Breeding For being man s supposed best friend, humans too often make choices to benefit themselves instead of dogs. People decide what traits make a dog cute and disregard what traits make them healthy. Dog breeding is a harmful practice for dogs both biologically and culturally due to superficial standards. These dogs are bred to be cute, but that cuteness can inadvertently carry a gene that can lead to disease, or even the cuteness itself could be debilitating, such as with the poster pug s flat face makes breathing significantly more difficult. Dogs are living, breathing creatures and the standards set for their reproduction should factor their well being into the standard of the dog. Dog breeding is dangerous because to make a perfect dog they too often inbreed and cause birth defects and other health issues in dogs. Terry Allen, an In These Times senior editor who has written the magazine s monthly investigative health and science column since 2006, argues in We re Breeding Dogs to Death that neither price, pedigree nor being loved like a member of the family can shield a dog from the pain, breathing difficulties, cancer, panoply of debilitating genetic disorders, mental illness, crippling physiognomy and shortened life span that disproportionately plague purebreds. The article Selective Breeding or Artificial Selection explains that in dogs, the frequency of being homozygous for rare recessive disorders increases when inbreeding occurs, potentially causing severe ... A Systematic Search Of The Database Psycinfo Investigatory Design A systematic search of the database PsycINFO was conducted, as this research repository is considered the leading scholarly file of research in the social and behavioral sciences worldwide. Table 1 presents the volume of reference citations regarding drawing tests indexed in PsycINFO. This output illustrates that 73% of all references have appeared since 1989 (614 of 840 citations) based on Total output; for journal references (69%), for books (88%), for dissertations (89%). Based on this analysis there has been no decline on the volume of research on drawing techniques evident in journal publications or books over the past decade. Table 2 summarizes survey findings of both academic and applied settings on training emphasis andusage of drawing techniques since 1989. This analysis includes the 60 published studies that were identified in journal publications, based on clinician/practitioner and academic/trainingsamples, although the vast majority of the data pool is based on research conducted in the USA. Findings Of note, 2 caveats are in order: First, survey results are almost always based only on those respondents who use tests or based on official clinical records;hence, many studies report data on less than 50% of sample surveyed due to a high percentage of non responders. Thus, in the aggregate, individual tests may be popular , but only within the parameters of professionals who rely on tests in assessment. Second, an individual test s ranking is ...
