Online Shopping And The Future Of All Business
Popularized by websites like Amazon and eBay. Online shopping and the virtual store may be the
future of all business. Online shoppers spent an estimated 126 billion in the U.S. alone in 2013. Seeing
exponential growth in coming years, Many major retailers have already made efforts to set up online
shops. Retail juggernauts like Walmart and Target have thrown their hats into the online arena with
websites of their own. Many more entrepreneurs have begun creating entire businesses online. The
reasons to take your company digital may be plentiful. As more of the world gains access to the
internet even more markets become accessible. With the advent of drone technology and better
delivery methods online sales and logistics are becoming easier and more cost efficient. Also online
stores and warehouses require less manpower making them cheaper. But a major impact of this growth
is the decline in recent years of big box retailers and subsequently the fall of The Mall . As more
consumers choose to do their shopping online many retailers and shopping centers are being left
behind. As the number of failing malls begin to rise and consumers choose in larger numbers to forgo
the lines and do their shopping online, it is a trend that we predict will grow in importance and impact
in the coming years. So in this paper we will discuss online retail and e commerce as a whole. We will
look at it s history and current impact. Then we will make some predictions

The Quality Of Standardized Patient
Medical education has recently started to accept innovative methods of teaching. Clinical skills
training in medical schools is one area of interest where if not taught properly can deprive students of
proper social skills. The focus in the medical community; however, now has shifted from producing
competent physicians to competent medical professionals who also posses proper bedside ettiquite.
Simulation has taken a bold role in training students of not just procedures and medical competencies,
but also clinical skills. Standardized patients have provided a unique human touch in this process of
simulation. Specifically those that are trained to provide feedback have become an invaluable tool to
medicine. In this paper, the focus will be on the quality of standardized patient debriefing.
Debriefing in medicine has recently become a popular form of feed back in medical schools today.
Extensive research shows debriefing is one of the most important parts of simulation and it is this time
where actual learning occurs. However, there is little literature and research on the training of
individuals who debrief in medical simulation. The styles of debriefing vary greatly and provide no
standard structure for delivering such feedback. Once the gaps in debriefing can be discovered for
standardized patients, it can make the process of training and maintaining a high quality of standards
much easier. This study will observe the quality of debriefing done by standardized patients

The ultimate goal of ethical theory is to achieve human dignity, peace, happiness, and well being. But
these goals are somewhat vague and can be interpreted differently in different situations under certain
circumstances. So to make the things less complex, we try to define a sphere of freedom in which
people can act and make decisions freely without interference from others. So natural rights defines
ethical theory as a set of actions that respects fundamental rights of others, including the rights to life,
liberty, and property. Natural rights can be categorized in two different

Epicureanism Reflection
After class discussions, have you had any realizations or made any changes in regard to the
philosophies that influences your decisions, actions, or preferences? Has your level of conscious
choice to these philosophies changed? Why or why not?
Answer:
Before Humanities 210, my processes for decision making and preference development were based on
more mental pleasure than physical pleasure. Happiness was the ideal feeling and I would try to feel
happy as long as possible. Having wonderful relationships with family and friends, making wise
decisions, and thinking of ways to improve life were the most important goals to achieve happiness.
However, when moments of extreme happiness emerged, great sadness followed. Although it was
unclear at the time, I was following the concepts of Epicureanism. Richard Paul Janaro and Thelma C.
Altshuler, authors of The Art of Being Human: The Humanities as a Technique for Living, say that
Epicureanism believes complete happiness is a moderate amount of pleasure with freedom from pain
(338). Thus, I realized moderation of pleasure regulates feelings of sadness. My belief in
Epicureanism developed as I recalled periods of suffering and realized I became happy as the
suffering subsided. Regarding religion, my parents and grandmother practice Buddhism, but they
never forced it on me and my sisters so the religion is not as familiar. However, learning about
Buddhism was interesting as it is applicable to everyday life. One salient

Wastewater Treatment
Introduction
The increase in the number of individuals in the planet has established a boom in technology, and
industry, which advances the problems in the economy, and contributes to the degradation of the
environment. Evidently, the treatment and collection of the wastewater in urban areas poses a critical
problem especially in developing countries. Wastewater is a practice that has been taken on especially
in urban areas where the domestic effluent pollutes surface water bodies creating health problems for
the public. In another word, any water that has been affected by anthropogenic influence. And
Wastewater can produce a group of activity that consists of domestic activity, industrial activity,
commercial activity, surface runoff or storm water, and from sewer inflow or infiltration. Wastewater
is the most important thing that can help people moving comfortably for example when it is raining.
Especially, when vehicles move around the city this Wastewater can reduce the hazards of sliding
vehicles at road. Also, wastewater can avoid wastefulness of water and can help the agriculture
environment by irrigation. On the top of that, the wastewater will help grow the lands when planet

Define Benefit Plans Definition
The defined benefit plans and defined contribution plans pay a pension to retired worker, usually until
his death or the death of the surviving spouse. The difference between the plans is the amount of the
pension that is calculated according to the performance of the pension fund. It is not set in advance
according to Defined Contribution plans. The employer has no obligation to bail out the cash if
actuarial deficit. Workers therefore cannot determine in advance with certainty their lifestyle when
retired based solely on their pension fund. Unlike Defined Contribution plans, defined benefit plans
are funded by contributions paid by the employer and the employee, which accumulate in a pension
fund and are invested to yield. Yields accumulated

among the elderly and manDementia, a mental disease that causes memory problems, has steadily
been increasing in frequency among the elderly and many are calling it type 3 diabetes. And scientists
have noticed a link between the diet and the probability to get dementia (Pizzorno, 3 9).
Dementia is a neurodegenerative disease most common in senior citizens over the age of sixty five
and mot often the symptoms are forgetfulness, issues recalling personal history, and self care. It is
caused by an accumulation of neurofribrillary and amyloid beta. Amyloid beta is a fragment of protein
that wasn t broken down and built up and disrupted transmissions between neurons, causing memory
loss (Pizzorno, 3 9) As your brain produces insulin diabetes speeds up plaque production in the brain,
causing a disruption in the signaling of insulin production, which causes the memory loss. Because
insulin helps the memory, those with diabetes have a sixty five higher probability of getting dementia.
Fructose rich diets cause insulin production to skyrocket; consequently constant high levels of insulin
cause the brain to block the signals (Mercola). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, many who have dementia also suffer with high blood pressure, thyroid problems, and vitamin
b12 deficiency in folate and thiamine (Mercola)
Saturated fats, trans fatty acids, and just about every processed food dramatically increase one s
chance of having dementia (Pizzorno). Microwave popcorn, which is a nice snack for movie night at
the house, contains diacetyl, which causes amyloid plaques, which causes memory loss. The following
foods even send toxins to the brain that damage it: pasta, cakes, rice, white bread, and white sugar

The Use Of Light In White Mirror
Light is often used in films and television to show underlying thematic tensions in the narrative. In the
episode White Mirror from the Netflix series Black Mirror, the juxtaposition between light and dark is
used to show how Joe is struggling to accept the truth that he killed two people. In the first scene and
in the confession scene light from the outside world represents truth, the darkness of the cabin
represents avoidance of the truth, and the shift between light to dark shows Joe s transformation from
avoidance to acceptance of his past.
Light is often associated with many ideas, so when the white light of the windows shine into the cabin,
it is necessary to consider the association light has within this narrative. The light in this

Ending Of A Tale Of Two Cities
In literature, endings need to supply the readers with a sense of satisfaction and completion for the
novel to conclude well. If the author does not accomplish this, the book is seen as being insufficient
for the general audience. In A Tale of Two Cities, by Charles Dickens, the author ends the story in
three chapters, one chapter for each set of characters. Each of these chapters wraps up the characters
stories, leaving behind very few questions about the literature itself. Not only does this ending
appropriately conclude the novel, but it also leaves the readers with questions about themselves and
their view on the world, encouraging the readers toward self reflection. One of the main objectives of
a novel s ending is to wrap up the loose ends surrounding the protagonist. Some literature does this
successfully, others choose to leave the protagonist s life open to interpretation: One can depart.
Forward, my postilions! A good journey! I salute you, citizens. And the first danger passed! These are
again the words of Jarvis Lorry, as he clasps his hands, and looks upward. There is terror in the
carriage, there is weeping, there is the heavy breathing of the insensible traveller. [...] Out of the open
country, in again among ruinous buildings, solitary farms, dye works, tanneries and the like, cottages
in twos and threes, avenues of leafless trees. Have these men deceived us, and taken us back by
another road? Is not this the same place twice over? Thank Heaven no. A

Seven Literacy Capabilities
I believe that literacy is one of the most important of the seven capabilities. Every single person in the
entire world uses literacy every single day, you could say it is more of a way of life than a capability.
In today s day and age, most things have become digitalized, and children are becoming more
confident in their writing abilities as well as their communication skills online. Literacy takes reading,
writing, and communication skills, and jumbles those all up together, giving people who extend their
literacy capability the option to apply more techniques, and interactions onto these skills. In the words

The Egyptian Revolution And The Arab World
Being tasked with creating a project that addressed any topic related to the Arab world can be a
daunting assignment. Nevertheless, my group was able to create a unique project that highlighted a
monumental string of events that shaped the Arab world as we see it today. The topic decided upon
was the Arab Spring in Egypt, specifically looking at how Facebook existed in its timeframe as a
mechanism for collaboration and action toward a revolution and regime change. Together, we set to
understand the Egyptian revolution beginning in 2010 in tangible terms that could be communicated
to the average student, which we thought, was best done through a simplified simulation of how
Facebook was used as a major tool and function. In order to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In reality, it was a mechanism that brought people of like minded thoughts together (Emon, et. al.).
My research attempted to emphasize the actual role of social media and provide insight to Facebook
as a tool instead of a stakeholder.
The match that was able to ignite and unite the people of Egypt to act on their dislike of the regime
and its corruption came with two men: Khaled Said and Wael Ghonim. On June 6, 2010, in
Alexandria, two police officers approached Khaled Said and arrested him on the premise that the
possessed a video material that implicates members of the police in a drug deal (Wedeman). Multiple
witnesses from that day testified that the situation escalated and resulted in Saeed being dragged
across the street by the police officers and beaten to death while doctors tried to intervene and revive
him. Ali Kassem, Said uncle stated in conjunction with his nephew s death, Every family in Egypt has
seen something like this happen to a member. I will feel like I have attained justice only if the regime
falls and a new government is formed, (Londono, 2). The official autopsy and police report after the
event stated that Saeed suffocated in an attempt to swallow drugs, and the original arrest was for theft
and weapons possession (Wedeman).

his anger into a Facebook page titled, We Are All

Growing Up Around Women Breastfeeding
Growing up around women breastfeeding was quite interesting; although I was young I was always
embarrassed to be around a nursing mother. Most of us are aware that breastfeeding is the most natural
way of providing infants with the nutrients they need for healthy growth and development.
Breastfeeding to a lot of mothers is the time of bonding between themselves and child. Disagreement
arises when nursing mothers decide to perform feedings in public areas. Then we have the groups of
people that view breastfeeding in public places as indecent and offensive. In an article about current
breastfeeding laws the authors state that currently, the majority of the US states have legislation
permitting women to breastfeed in any location and exempting breastfeeding from indecency laws
(Nguyen,Hawkins). I don t think the issue is with breastfeeding itself. What may actually be the
problem with the whole breastfeeding in public debate would have to be the action of breastfeeding,
the locations where the mothers choose to breastfeed and sometimes age of child being breastfeed.
Public breastfeeding can be a very touchy topic with strong feelings on both sides of the debate. After
considering both sides of the issue, breastfeeding in public areas should not be done.
People claim that the actual problem they have with breastfeeding is the action of breast feeding. The
main reason for that initial awkwardness is probably the taboo against showing one s breasts around
other people without

Reflection Paper On Strategic Management
This reflection paper will cover the lessons that I have learned from the cases and readings. Most
importantly it will expand on classroom discussions with Professor Dew and my peers; it is here
where I believe that I found the most valuable education. I will conclude with how this course has
influenced my way of thinking and how I will plan to apply these acquired Strategic Management
lessons in my future assignments and military billets. Thru the course I have learned that Strategic
Management builds on many processes and that various companies and organizations with diverse
backgrounds can teach us valuable lessons. To be on the lookout for what can be considered a
beneficial development in an organization or perhaps what can be a bad plan plausibly implemented at
the wrong time. As military members we are educated to think very linearly about strategy. For many
years we have been trained to have a strategic thought process based on the use of a methodology that
espouses three major steps: Ends (Objectives), Ways (Strategic Concepts), and Means (Resources).
(Barber 1997) However I have learned that goals and objectives of an organization are in continuous
change and they suffer from a lack of adaptation, our problems evolve and we fail to perceive the
subtle and not so subtle changes as well as not adjusting accordingly to the drift in direction (inertia).
That is why I think that a course such as this one is very valuable and offers many trends that are

The process the author managed to keep the story continuing with so much suspicion is the reason
why this has become a favorite of mine. The way he kept the suspicion thorough, he used literary
terms such as point of view, foreshadowing, and irony. First of all, the point of view the story is

characters. The author begins to use signs

Dream Intired By Langston Hughes, Dreams And Dream Deferred
Are dreams alive? Within the thought provoking and inciteful poems, Dreams and Dream Deferred
Langston Hughes uses repetitions, binaries, and strands to bring alive the human subconscious that is
often overlooked in daily life. Although the poems attempt to impart wisdom concerning subconscious
decision making, the fundamental message is about the importance of seeing the silver lining and
seizing opportunities before they become a regret.
A dream is an opportunity to give birth to reality through harvesting thought. Making appearances in
the poems and as part of the title, the word dream dominates both poems in their entirety. The poems
treat the word not as unconscious thoughts that ensue sleep, but as an abstract form of unrealized
potential.
The most notable binary opposition is barren versus explode, which is the decision that Langston
Hughes places on the audience s shoulders. Arnold Schwarzenegger could not have said it better
himself in giving his famous ultimatum as the Terminator, Come with me if you want to live. . Barren
describes lifelessness in space while explode is the action that overcomes it. Explode brings warmth
and life into the cold, barren vacuum synonymous to the Big Bang Theory. While barren and explode
do not actually repeat, they are repeated throughout the poems in other binary oppositional forms: Life
versus die and sweet opposed by rotten. Through these words, the poems express a quiet protest that
holds the death of dreams in contempt of the beautiful, and responsible for what is barren and lifeless.
Throughout Dream Deferred, strands can be spotted that are initially harsh coming off the tongue.
Mental images of rotten meat and festering sores evoke negative connotations that vividly describe
stubborn emotional chaffing. It is the kind of negativity that hit a person straight in the gut like divorce
or home buyer s remorse.
Thereafter, Hughes subtly progresses into a more positive light, not letting the reader forget that the
light does not completely outshine the darkness: Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun? Or fester like a
sore And then run? This could be an attempt by Hughes at reassurance, saying that there s light at the
end of the tunnel when one has

Prior to the passing of the Affordable Care Act, government interventions existed but none as intrusive
and omnipresent as those in the ACA. Although, previously, fewer government intrusions existed, the
healthcare industry and health insurance companies in the United States were still heavily controlled
by government regulations. At this point time it is too early to tell whether the reform has resulted in
any economic advantages or disadvantages. While the Affordable Care Act is still in its early stages,
and still not fully implemented, some research and data is available as to whether the reform could be
successful, or has been already in any aspect, or not.

Examples Of Divine Law In Antigone
The emergence of world literature from antiquity to modern times is mostly dominated by the
instrument of divine law, and therefore expresses an in depth understanding of the various kinds of
intellectual, historical, social and cultural backgrounds that are relevant across Europe, Asia, Africa,
North and South America. At the turn of the 4th century BC, Divine law is derived as any law that
theoretically comes directly from the will of God in comparison to man made law. The perception of
natural law, is distinctly independent of human beings, whereas divine law is based on the notion that
rely on human narrators and more closely related to various cultures. Thus, divine laws are

Antigone is who were urged to follow the laws of the god. The main protagonist Creon, who is the
new king, who believes that divine law is what is the most important aspect of the culture, it s people,
and what they should abide by. Creon says that they should obey the orders of divine law, which are of
the former king Oedipus, and that man made law is evil. Thus, Creon s beliefs are a strong paradox of
the fact that he is a mortal king, who is demonstrative of man v. god, and thus the author creates Creon
s character in such a way the he is a mortal man who believes in divine law, not man made law. This is
very effective in bringing the story to the reader to fully emphasize that divine law is based on a
verisimilitude of god s will. Antigone is the female protagonist who follows the government or state
laws, and is a firm believer that dive law is unwritten and unfailing. There is a distinction between the
fact that Creon and Antigone appear as god and woman, against god and man, to understand the richly
held beliefs that were relevant in those times, and that the people of ancient greece wanted to follow
the laws of the gods that they saw fitting to the land and the people. Mostly, they believed that divine
law was the only answer, and the one true way to live their lives through everything they do. Then
there were those that believed that the will of the gods was not divine law, and that natural law was the

Comparing John Locke s Distinction Between Primary And...
A Discussion On Locke s Distinction Between Primary And Secondary Qualities And Berkeley s
Opposition
Moved by a desire to end skepticism and provide proof for the existence of God, Berkeley defended
that the root of all of the former is the belief that there are mind independent matters. Much different
than his immaterialist view, John Locke developed a philosophy in advances to an apparently natural
form of realism, in where material matters are in existences, but also independently of our minds. In
this essay I will discuss John Locke s idea of primary and secondary qualities as well as Berkeley s
objection that both must exist only in our minds.

As mentioned previously, one of the most known objections to the distinction of primary and
secondary qualities was raised by George Berkeley. Differently than Locke, who was a metaphysical
dualist, Berkeley was an immaterialist. His philosophy defended that all objects are strictly fragments
of our minds: All that exists are minds and their ideas . As Locke defines secondary qualities as ideas
in our minds caused by objects in the real world, it follows that central to Berkeley s objection is the
idea that secondary qualities are strictly in our minds, using it to argue that primary qualities must also
be products of our minds rather than of objects in the world. In his words, That the qualities we
perceive are not on the objects: that we must not believe our senses: that we know nothing of the real
nature of things, and can never be assured even of their existence: that real colours and sounds are
nothing but certain unknown figures and motions:. . . these are the strange notions which . . .
embarrass the mind with endless doubts and difficulties. And it is against these. . . I endeavor to
vindicate common sense . Berkeley argued that secondary qualities are only ideas in our mind,
therefore so are primary qualities. For him, there cannot be ideas that exist independent of a mind, as
well as no things existing that are not ideas. Reinforced by Philonous, There are only things
perceiving, and things perceived;

The term volcano can either mean the vent from which magma erupts to the surface, or it can refer to

Pelean eruptions are similar to vulcanian eruptions but have even more viscous lava; domes from over
the vents, and ash flows commonly accompany the dome fountais. Plinian eruptions, also known as
Vesuvian eruptions , are volcanic eruptions marked by their similarity to the eruption of Mount
Vesuvius in AD 79 (as described in a letter written by Pliny the Younger, and which killed his uncle
Pliny the Elder). Plinian eruptions are marked by columns of gas and volcanic ash extending high into
the stratosphere, a high layer of the atmosphere. The key characteristics are ejection of large amount
of pumice and very powerful continuous gas blast eruptions.
Risks
Volcanoes release volcanic hazards that may cause the life of human kind to be in danger. These
volcanic hazards are Pyroclastic Density Currents (pyroclastic flows and surges), Lahars, Structural

inventing, and drawing was, for him, a way for recording his investigation of nature. Albeit finished
works by Leonardo are few, he cleared out a vast assortment of drawings (just about 2,500) that record
his thoughts, most still accumulated into journals. He was mainly active in Florence (1472 ca. 1482,
1500 1508) and Milan (ca. 1482 99, 1508 13), however ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In later life, Leonardo just recorded two youth events. One, which he viewed as an omen, was the
point at which a kite dropped from the sky and drifted over his cradle, its tail feathers brushing his
face. The second happened while investigating in the mountains. He found a cave and was both scared
that some extraordinary creature may prowl there, and driven by interest to figure out what was
inside. When Leonardo was fifteen, his father apprenticed him to Andrea del Verrocchio (1435 1488),
the famous artist of Florence and the early Renaissance. For nearly a decade, da Vinci improved his
painting and sculpting methods and skilled in mechanical arts. When he was 20, in 1472, the painters
organization of Florence offered da Vinci a membership, yet he decided to stay with Verrocchio until
he became a independent master in 1478. Around 1478 Leonardo set up his own particular studio. In
1481 he got a extensive church commission for an altarpiece, the Adoration of the Magi . In this
unfinished painting, Leonardo s new approach is significantly more creative. A large assembly of
bystanders, with varied faces, takes a gander at the main group of the Virgin and Child. There is a
solid feeling of proceeding with development. Leonardo put the Virgin and Child in the middle.

The Anglo-Saxon Period
The Anglo Saxon period is the oldest known period of time that had a complex culture with stable
government, art, and a fairly large amount of literature. Many people believe that the culture then was
extremely unsophisticated, but it was actually extremely advanced for the time. Despite the many
advancements, the period was almost always in a state of war. Despite this fact, the Anglo Saxon
period is a time filled with great advancements and discoveries in culture, society, government,
religion, literature, and art. The Angles were a Germanic tribe that occupied the region which is now
Scleswig Holstein, Germany. With their fellow ethnic groups, they formed the people who came to be
known as the English. The Saxons were a Germanic people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Christian themes found in the epic, however, however are not integrated into the main part of the
essentially pagan tale (Hutchinson Book of the Arts, www.sirs.com). Works such as Deor, The
Wanderer, The Seafarer, and other poems follows the same basic theme as Beowulf. In these works, a
happy past is contrasted with a precarious and desolate present. This type of heroic poetry celebrates
great heroism even in the face of great danger and overwhelming odds (Hutchinson Book of the Arts,
www.sirs.com). Most of the Christian poetry is marked by the belief of a simple, relatively
unsophisticated Christianity. The names of only two authors are known. Caedmon, whose story is told
by the Venerable Bede, is the earliest known English poet. Not much is known about him, and almost
all of his work has been lost. The other known poet is named Cynewulf. The only thing known about
him is that he signed the poems Juliana, and The Fates of the Apostles (The Columbia Encyclopedia).
Poetry in the Anglo Saxon period is very different from modern poetry. The verse form for old English
poetry is a line of four stressed syllables and an unfixed number of unstressed syllables that are broken
by a caesura. The lines are usually end stopped and unrhymed. Although writing poetry was very
popular in the age, people

Essay On Obamacare
Small businesses are contrived to give all of their employees health care due to Medicare. Through the
terms of ObamaCare, small businesses are compelled into closing their doors because of all the hand
outs they have to get to their employees. When small business begin to become more successful and
make more money, Medicare takes their profits away and gives it to people who don t really need it.
ObamaCare and Medicare have both taught ignorant Americans to not get a job because they can get
the same amount of money in the form of a hand out instead of actually working for it and
contributing to the economy. The tax breaks for small firms and other factors are reliant by how much
small businesses spend on health coverage (Harrison). Tax ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In 2007, was when the most current economic decline was introduced. Even when the U.S. is
weakening, ObamaCare will diminish the labor force size even more. It s odd that intelligent people
let welfare systems run as they do; state representatives should change these systems and make better
systems the encourage good parenting (Welfare, SSI Systems Are Being Abused by Irresponsible
Parents). State representatives should be working on chaining the welfare system and how it operates.
There are a great deal of people who are on the welfare program. There are so many people that have
welfare, that it would be very difficult to give them all jobs. If people could be responsible for their
own children, welfare wouldn t even be needed. Welfare is hurting society as well. People would
rather have another baby than give up their welfare and go to work. (Welfare, SSI Systems Are Being
Abused by Irresponsible Parents). People don t want to work, they just want handouts to pass by in
life. Medicaid disposals grew by about 100.2% throughout the years past. Poverty will only get worse
with ObamaCare continuing to exist. Essentially, ObamaCare is corrupting society. This displays how
careless the government is about money in society.
There are so many people who cannot open their eyes to see the destruction caused by social welfare.
The government is truly paying people to not work. Thousands of people have realized that if they

Difference Between The Independent Variable And Dependent...
Statistics Assignment Six
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the difference in means between the three groups and within
the three groups by conducting an analysis of variance (ANOVA) test (Salkind, 2013). The variables
that will be used within this paper are from the research scenario. The two variables are: ability to
identify hypertension lifestyle factors which consist of three groups cannot identify, can identify some,
can identify all and the variable willingness to engage in self care. The writer will go through seven
hypotheses testing steps, discuss and interpret the research findings, provide a descriptive summary of
the variables and lastly implications for research and nursing practice based on the study findings.
Question 1: Step 1 selection of test statistic
Null hypothesis
The null hypothesis is a statement that identifies there is no difference between the independent
variable and the dependent variable, the variables are equal (Salkind, 2013). For the following
research scenario, the null hypothesis would state: there is no difference between the variable ability to
identify hypertension lifestyle factors (cannot identify, can identify some, can identify all) and
willingness to engage in self care.
Research hypothesis
A research hypothesis states there is a difference between the independent variable and the dependent
and the variables are not equal (Salkind, 2013). Therefore, within this research scenario, a research
hypothesis would state: there

Implementing A New Business At Abc Medical Center
Creating a new business is challenging, expanding an already established facility can be even more
daunting. To ensure a successful venture requires the right set of marketing skills. Marketing is
execution of the conception, pricing, promotion, and distribution of goods, ideas, and services
(Berkowitz, 2006, p.4). In health care facilities this means developing a product or service to address
health issues; establishing a price individuals and insurance companies are willing to pay; knowing
what place is convenient for both the patient and the provider to give and receive treatment. Lastly,
promotion of the product or service to ensure patients know what is available to address the health
needs of the general public. These four ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be accomplished through strategic marketing skills. Strengths for this practice include
orthopedic surgeons who are dedicated to their field, have the ability to offer diagnostics, surgery,
follow up physical therapy in one location, and deliver exceptional patient care. Whereas weaknesses
include being a new orthopedic practice in a highly saturated area with a less generous marketing fund
than competitors. Potential customers include individuals with orthopedic needs, more specifically,
those requiring hip and knee replacements, however other orthopedic patient cases can be evaluated
for treatment. Satisfaction and repeat business can be achieved from the proper level of marketing.
The current market is strong and has the potential of building a new and continued customer base,
however, there are several other competing facilities with much larger marketing budgets that may be
able to reach more customers on a broader base. Product, according to Eric Berkowitz (2011), is
goods, services, or ideas offered by a health care facility. This is the first area to address in marketing.
Products available with in ABC Medical Center are both tangible and intangible. Because the
intangible products are harder to evaluate, marketing has to show the tangible benefits from their use
(Berkowitz, 2011, p. 214). The products that ABC Medical Center has to offer is the availability of
diagnostic screening, orthopedic surgery, and physical therapy for its patients. The

Religion Is A Detrimental Practice
Religion
Religion is a detrimental practice that often leads to conflict
There is a conflict in the village between the chief and Nathan because of the missionary that Nathan
wants to bring Christianity to Congo where Congolese already have their own God.
Tata Ndu Our chief is concerned about the moral decline of his village (128). Lots of people go to
church every Sunday, not because they believes in God but they just wanted to get rid of their bad
lucks. However, most of the villages regard this trend as a serious issue that needs to cease

what the Congo had in store. Nathan, rather than prepare for the trip, focused solely on spreading his
religion, leaving his family in danger.
Cultural clashes/differences
The settings and the characters in The Poisonwood Bible help portray the conceited values of a

Regardless of the cultural differences, including religion and tradition always lead to a conflict.

nutrition balance, habitat, and many interesting other facts. Platypuses nutrition and diet is very
interesting. They are carnivores which means they feed on flesh. These mutant otters hunt and search
for food for 12 hours everyday! Their diet consists mainly of shrimp, crayfish, insect larvae and
worms. The platypus s habitat is amazing. They mostly live in freshwater lakes, rivers, lagoons, farm

Him. He tell us what the Lord said to Him while recognizing Him as the Son of the Father, His only
begotten Son. The name, My Son is specifically for Jesus even though He sometimes refers to angels
as Sons . It is very important here that God says, begotten and not created or built because Jesus is in
fact, of the same nature of God. It describes the relationship between God and Jesus22.
Christ Declares that His Enemies are His Inheritance (Psalm 2:8) Christ is declaring not only will He
make the Jewish nation His Son s possession, but the whole world23. Jesus will rule over all the
nations and all judgment is devoted to Him24. It s amazing how the sinful nations are going to be

who does not submit to Him will be destroyed25. Christ goes on to explain how easy it be would to

Essay on The Benefits of Legalizing Marijuana
The war on drugs is a movement of prohibition and military aid being undertaken by the United States
government intended to both define and reduce the illegal drug trade (Bullington). In the year 2010 the
U.S. government spent $15 billion on the war on drugs, at a rate of $500 per second. State and local
governments spent another $25 billion as well. In 2007, $42 billion was spent on the marijuana
prohibition. That is more money than the war on drugs spent on all types of drugs three years before
(Hardy). Why is our government focusing on a drug that can be called merely harmless to those who
use it? Why is this drug getting more money spent on it than drugs that are highly addictive and life
threatening? Marijuana is not as dangerous as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Several areas of the brain have high densities of these receptors, which helps explain the different
effects of the drug (Mathews). Physical effects include red eyes, dry mouth, increased heart rate, and
loss of coordination. Beneficial effects for medical conditions such as cancer, AIDS, and multiple
sclerosis include relief from pain and nausea, increased appetite, and reduced muscle spasms.
Psychological effects, which are not apparent in ever user, may entail hallucinations, impaired
judgment, and mood swings. One frightening effect is that marijuana has been linked to short term
memory loss, and although this drug does not cause physical addiction a psychological dependence
can come about (Gale). Also, studies have shown that long term effects of using marijuana include:
increased rates of anxiety, depression and schizophrenia. Chronic use could also be a marker for other
mental health issues (NIDA). Now that you know the basic facts of marijuana lets dive into some of

cons, but which position should you take on this issue? You have the freedom to choose whatever
position you would like to take, but before you do that listen to both sides of this argument first. So,
why should one choose to be for legalizing marijuana? Well, there are plenty of reasons to support this
position like the fact that this drug is considered not

Invictus Figurative Language Essay
Invictus by William Earnest Henley contains a multitude of figurative language, imagery, and
symbolism. The poem s influential message is expressed these elements of speech. The use of
figurative language, imagery and symbolism in Invictus revolve around the theme that a person is in
charge of their own fate. Many metaphor, similes and personification flow throughout the poem; they
help enrich the images and feelings that Henley describes. The first metaphor Henley uses is Out of
the night that covers me (1), describes the pain and suffering he has endured during his sickness using
the word night which is often associated with darkness therefore suggesting his pain. In that same
metaphor we can find an example of personification, Henley ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Most of the imagery used are adjectives that relate to the horrors of despair that he feels when he is
first going through his illness and later using adjectives to describe his bravery that allowed him to
take control of his own fate. The first stanza contains a vast amount of imagery beginning with the
second line using the simile Black as the pit from pole to pole (2) to convey that his illness was a dark
and miserable time and that his pain was so severe that it went from the South to the North pole. The
second stanza contains another piece of imagery, which is, My head is bloody, but unbowed (8). In
this line he defines his deceitful fate and the punishment fate has put him through. The word unbowed
shows the strong self control he has accomplished during his struggle. This line is probably most
important to the meaning as a whole because it displays how strong and courageous the author is. In
the third stanza, Henley says, Beyond this place of wrath and tears (9). In this line he is portraying a
flash of anger and grief; this reveals what Henley actually felt during the time of his sickness. The use
of the imagery runs through the poem to make the details vivid and make the story come to life. With
the use of imagery comes the use of

Oryx And Crake Themes
Think of an adaptation, any adaptation, and some animal somewhere will have thought of it first. Said
by Crake from Oryx and Crake written by Margaret Atwood, this quote has a lot to do with the themes
of Genetic Engineering and Biodiversity. In the book there is a constant reminder that nothing is real,
and I believe that Atwood uses characters such as Jimmy s mother to show the negative aspects of
genetic engineering. As Jimmy has grown up, he has watched his world evolve into a place where
everything and anything could be recreated, including human body parts, food, and nature. Other
books that focus with this issue is The Machine Stops, by E. M. Forster. Before Crake had even

With new products that allowed yourself to change yourself, these products were all a contribution for
a constant need for modification, like a drug. If you were able to change yourself for the better why
wouldn t you? An interesting part in Oryx and Crake is the sales pitch, Jimmy makes for the
BlyssPluss Pill. It openly advertised 3 things, immunity to sexually transmitted diseases, an unlimited
supply to sexual libido, and a prolonged youth. What the advertisement fails to mention is that by
taking the pill, you will lose the ability to have children. I don t believe that this would have stopped
the people from taking the pill. With all the positive outcomes, would it really have made much of a
difference? That was the major problem with genetic modification, it was a choice. Through a series
of events it can be argued that the BlyssPluss was able to end the human race, and because of the great
advertising that was used it spread like wildfire. All the people knew were the positive aspects,
making it seem like an end to all problems, just like what companies are doing today. With products
that help your skin or pills to help alter your appearance, though it may seem less extreme, we are

Satire Environmental Problems
Satire is the use of humor, irony, hyperbole, and other forms of figurative language to convey a belief
or an idea. Articles that are non satirical typically center around fact and highlight what is actually
happening without the use of figurative language. Environmental problems are becoming increasingly
prevalent in society today and people frequently express them using both satirical and non satirical
means. With this ever increasing volume of environmental problems beginning to damage the
environment more and more, individuals are seeking to repair the environment. Due to this
exponential increase of harm to the environment, individuals will have to put in more effort in order to
come to a solution that will mitigate the largest damage to the environment. In order to solve these
problems, the problems have to be wholly understood, and the attention of individuals that can
actually do something to solve these problems needs to be reached.Satirical and non satirical means of
expressing these environmental problems will be evaluated in their effectiveness to see which method
is better for conveying these issues. The problems centering around the desolation of the environment

Illegals Are Costing Americans A Lot Of Money
Did you know more than 10,000 aliens cross the border every day, and there are several million
undocumented illegals in our country today. Only about .5% is sent back to their home country. That is
too many illegals for the U.S. to take care of, and a lot of them are taking American jobs increasing
our unemployment rate. Most of these Illegals bring in many drugs so they can get money to start a
new life. There are too many Illegals coming into our county its s a problem and we need to change
that. Illegals are costing Americans a lot of money. In 2000 Mexico proposed that its poor works
should be able to immigrate to the U.S., but the U.S. did not want Mexico s poor workers. Mexico
would be the only one who would benefit for that deal that allowed Mexican immigration in. America
does not have enough jobs for both Americans and Mexico unskilled workers. Like Samuel Robert
said #2 . An increase in Mexico s immigration would lead to a lot of competition and a lot more kids
in public schools for education. We don t just need to focus on keeping them out we also need to get
rid of the illegals in our country now. You should not reward the illegals we have for breaking that
law. Many of the legal immigrants would say that is unfair and try to sneak in, and not give them
green cards it would add too many people to the system at one time. It would also encourage more to
come in illegally. What would we do with these new works when the economy will crash after to

The Curriculum Policy Statement Of The Council On Social Work
Problem Statement, Background, and Research Interest The Curriculum Policy Statement of the
Council on Social Work Education (CSWE, 2001), the accrediting body of all bachelor s and master s
social work degree programs in the United States, requires all social work programs to teach students
how to promote economic and social justice. The revised Code of Ethics (1996) of the National
Association of Social Workers proclaims the pursuit of social justice one of the profession s core
values and establishes as an ethical imperative, Social workers challenge social injustice (NASW,
1996, p. 5). At first glance, these statements give the appearance of a trade which has retained its
professional identity regardless of the opposition demonstrated by the current trends in social,
political, and economic policy; however, upon closer inspection these phrases seem archaic, even
patronizing as they assume that social workers work for rather than with people. Then what do these
statements really signify? For nearly four decades, pundits have consistently proclaimed the
bankruptcy of socialist ideas, the fascist evils lurking in communism, the triumph of the free market
and liberal democracy... the so called end of history (Fukuyama, 1992). Proposals to privatize Social
Security, the cornerstone of what s left of the U.S. welfare state, have gained credibility and
popularity, even a sense of inevitability. The working class has learned to consistently vote against its

  • 3. The Quality Of Standardized Patient Medical education has recently started to accept innovative methods of teaching. Clinical skills training in medical schools is one area of interest where if not taught properly can deprive students of proper social skills. The focus in the medical community; however, now has shifted from producing competent physicians to competent medical professionals who also posses proper bedside ettiquite. Simulation has taken a bold role in training students of not just procedures and medical competencies, but also clinical skills. Standardized patients have provided a unique human touch in this process of simulation. Specifically those that are trained to provide feedback have become an invaluable tool to medicine. In this paper, the focus will be on the quality of standardized patient debriefing. Debriefing in medicine has recently become a popular form of feed back in medical schools today. Extensive research shows debriefing is one of the most important parts of simulation and it is this time where actual learning occurs. However, there is little literature and research on the training of individuals who debrief in medical simulation. The styles of debriefing vary greatly and provide no standard structure for delivering such feedback. Once the gaps in debriefing can be discovered for standardized patients, it can make the process of training and maintaining a high quality of standards much easier. • 5. Epicureanism Reflection After class discussions, have you had any realizations or made any changes in regard to the philosophies that influences your decisions, actions, or preferences? Has your level of conscious choice to these philosophies changed? Why or why not? Answer: Before Humanities 210, my processes for decision making and preference development were based on more mental pleasure than physical pleasure. Happiness was the ideal feeling and I would try to feel happy as long as possible. Having wonderful relationships with family and friends, making wise decisions, and thinking of ways to improve life were the most important goals to achieve happiness. However, when moments of extreme happiness emerged, great sadness followed. Although it was unclear at the time, I was following the concepts of Epicureanism. Richard Paul Janaro and Thelma C. Altshuler, authors of The Art of Being Human: The Humanities as a Technique for Living, say that Epicureanism believes complete happiness is a moderate amount of pleasure with freedom from pain (338). Thus, I realized moderation of pleasure regulates feelings of sadness. My belief in Epicureanism developed as I recalled periods of suffering and realized I became happy as the suffering subsided. Regarding religion, my parents and grandmother practice Buddhism, but they never forced it on me and my sisters so the religion is not as familiar. However, learning about Buddhism was interesting as it is applicable to everyday life. One salient ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The difference between the plans is the amount of the pension that is calculated according to the performance of the pension fund. It is not set in advance according to Defined Contribution plans. And scientists have noticed a link between the diet and the probability to get dementia (Pizzorno, 3 9). Dementia is a neurodegenerative disease most common in senior citizens over the age of sixty five and mot often the symptoms are forgetfulness, issues recalling personal history, and self care. It is caused by an accumulation of neurofribrillary and amyloid beta. Amyloid beta is a fragment of protein that wasn t broken down and built up and disrupted transmissions between neurons, causing memory loss (Pizzorno, 3 9) As your brain produces insulin diabetes speeds up plaque production in the brain, causing a disruption in the signaling of insulin production, which causes the memory loss. In the episode White Mirror from the Netflix series Black Mirror, the juxtaposition between light and dark is used to show how Joe is struggling to accept the truth that he killed two people. In the first scene and in the confession scene light from the outside world represents truth, the darkness of the cabin represents avoidance of the truth, and the shift between light to dark shows Joe s transformation from avoidance to acceptance of his past. • 11. Ending Of A Tale Of Two Cities In literature, endings need to supply the readers with a sense of satisfaction and completion for the novel to conclude well. If the author does not accomplish this, the book is seen as being insufficient for the general audience. In A Tale of Two Cities, by Charles Dickens, the author ends the story in three chapters, one chapter for each set of characters. Each of these chapters wraps up the characters stories, leaving behind very few questions about the literature itself. Not only does this ending appropriately conclude the novel, but it also leaves the readers with questions about themselves and their view on the world, encouraging the readers toward self reflection. One of the main objectives of a novel s ending is to wrap up the loose ends surrounding the protagonist. Some literature does this successfully, others choose to leave the protagonist s life open to interpretation: One can depart. Forward, my postilions! A good journey! I salute you, citizens. And the first danger passed! These are again the words of Jarvis Lorry, as he clasps his hands, and looks upward. There is terror in the carriage, there is weeping, there is the heavy breathing of the insensible traveller. Every single person in the entire world uses literacy every single day, you could say it is more of a way of life than a capability. Nevertheless, my group was able to create a unique project that highlighted a monumental string of events that shaped the Arab world as we see it today. The topic decided upon was the Arab Spring in Egypt, specifically looking at how Facebook existed in its timeframe as a mechanism for collaboration and action toward a revolution and regime change. The match that was able to ignite and unite the people of Egypt to act on their dislike of the regime and its corruption came with two men: Khaled Said and Wael Ghonim. On June 6, 2010, in Alexandria, two police officers approached Khaled Said and arrested him on the premise that the possessed a video material that implicates members of the police in a drug deal (Wedeman). • 14. Growing Up Around Women Breastfeeding Growing up around women breastfeeding was quite interesting; although I was young I was always embarrassed to be around a nursing mother. Most of us are aware that breastfeeding is the most natural way of providing infants with the nutrients they need for healthy growth and development. Breastfeeding to a lot of mothers is the time of bonding between themselves and child. Disagreement arises when nursing mothers decide to perform feedings in public areas. Then we have the groups of people that view breastfeeding in public places as indecent and offensive. In an article about current breastfeeding laws the authors state that currently, the majority of the US states have legislation permitting women to breastfeed in any location and exempting breastfeeding from indecency laws (Nguyen,Hawkins). I don t think the issue is with breastfeeding itself. What may actually be the problem with the whole breastfeeding in public debate would have to be the action of breastfeeding, the locations where the mothers choose to breastfeed and sometimes age of child being breastfeed. Public breastfeeding can be a very touchy topic with strong feelings on both sides of the debate. After considering both sides of the issue, breastfeeding in public areas should not be done. People claim that the actual problem they have with breastfeeding is the action of breast feeding. The main reason for that initial awkwardness is probably the taboo against showing one s breasts around other people without ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. Reflection Paper On Strategic Management This reflection paper will cover the lessons that I have learned from the cases and readings. Most importantly it will expand on classroom discussions with Professor Dew and my peers; it is here where I believe that I found the most valuable education. I will conclude with how this course has influenced my way of thinking and how I will plan to apply these acquired Strategic Management lessons in my future assignments and military billets. Thru the course I have learned that Strategic Management builds on many processes and that various companies and organizations with diverse backgrounds can teach us valuable lessons. To be on the lookout for what can be considered a beneficial development in an organization or perhaps what can be a bad plan plausibly implemented at the wrong time. As military members we are educated to think very linearly about strategy. For many years we have been trained to have a strategic thought process based on the use of a methodology that espouses three major steps: Ends (Objectives), Ways (Strategic Concepts), and Means (Resources). (Barber 1997) However I have learned that goals and objectives of an organization are in continuous change and they suffer from a lack of adaptation, our problems evolve and we fail to perceive the subtle and not so subtle changes as well as not adjusting accordingly to the drift in direction (inertia). • 18. Dream Intired By Langston Hughes, Dreams And Dream Deferred Are dreams alive? Within the thought provoking and inciteful poems, Dreams and Dream Deferred Langston Hughes uses repetitions, binaries, and strands to bring alive the human subconscious that is often overlooked in daily life. Although the poems attempt to impart wisdom concerning subconscious decision making, the fundamental message is about the importance of seeing the silver lining and seizing opportunities before they become a regret. A dream is an opportunity to give birth to reality through harvesting thought. Making appearances in the poems and as part of the title, the word dream dominates both poems in their entirety. The poems treat the word not as unconscious thoughts that ensue sleep, but as an abstract form of unrealized potential. The most notable binary opposition is barren versus explode, which is the decision that Langston Hughes places on the audience s shoulders. Arnold Schwarzenegger could not have said it better himself in giving his famous ultimatum as the Terminator, Come with me if you want to live. . Barren describes lifelessness in space while explode is the action that overcomes it. Explode brings warmth and life into the cold, barren vacuum synonymous to the Big Bang Theory. While barren and explode do not actually repeat, they are repeated throughout the poems in other binary oppositional forms: Life versus die and sweet opposed by rotten. Through these words, the poems express a quiet protest that holds the death of dreams in contempt of the beautiful, and responsible for what is barren and lifeless. Throughout Dream Deferred, strands can be spotted that are initially harsh coming off the tongue. Mental images of rotten meat and festering sores evoke negative connotations that vividly describe stubborn emotional chaffing. It is the kind of negativity that hit a person straight in the gut like divorce or home buyer s remorse. Thereafter, Hughes subtly progresses into a more positive light, not letting the reader forget that the light does not completely outshine the darkness: Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun? Or fester like a sore And then run? This could be an attempt by Hughes at reassurance, saying that there s light at the end of the tunnel when one has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Examples Of Divine Law In Antigone The emergence of world literature from antiquity to modern times is mostly dominated by the instrument of divine law, and therefore expresses an in depth understanding of the various kinds of intellectual, historical, social and cultural backgrounds that are relevant across Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America. At the turn of the 4th century BC, Divine law is derived as any law that theoretically comes directly from the will of God in comparison to man made law. Creon says that they should obey the orders of divine law, which are of the former king Oedipus, and that man made law is evil. Thus, Creon s beliefs are a strong paradox of the fact that he is a mortal king, who is demonstrative of man v. god, and thus the author creates Creon s character in such a way the he is a mortal man who believes in divine law, not man made law. This is very effective in bringing the story to the reader to fully emphasize that divine law is based on a verisimilitude of god s will. Antigone is the female protagonist who follows the government or state laws, and is a firm believer that dive law is unwritten and unfailing. There is a distinction between the fact that Creon and Antigone appear as god and woman, against god and man, to understand the richly held beliefs that were relevant in those times, and that the people of ancient greece wanted to follow the laws of the gods that they saw fitting to the land and the people. A Discussion On Locke s Distinction Between Primary And Secondary Qualities And Berkeley s Opposition Moved by a desire to end skepticism and provide proof for the existence of God, Berkeley defended that the root of all of the former is the belief that there are mind independent matters. Much different than his immaterialist view, John Locke developed a philosophy in advances to an apparently natural form of realism, in where material matters are in existences, but also independently of our minds. As mentioned previously, one of the most known objections to the distinction of primary and secondary qualities was raised by George Berkeley. Differently than Locke, who was a metaphysical dualist, Berkeley was an immaterialist. His philosophy defended that all objects are strictly fragments of our minds: All that exists are minds and their ideas . As Locke defines secondary qualities as ideas in our minds caused by objects in the real world, it follows that central to Berkeley s objection is the idea that secondary qualities are strictly in our minds, using it to argue that primary qualities must also be products of our minds rather than of objects in the world. In his words, That the qualities we perceive are not on the objects: that we must not believe our senses: that we know nothing of the real nature of things, and can never be assured even of their existence: that real colours and sounds are nothing but certain unknown figures and motions:. . . these are the strange notions which . . . embarrass the mind with endless doubts and difficulties. And it is against these. . . I endeavor to vindicate common sense . Berkeley argued that secondary qualities are only ideas in our mind, therefore so are primary qualities. Christ Declares that His Enemies are His Inheritance (Psalm 2:8) Christ is declaring not only will He make the Jewish nation His Son s possession, but the whole world23. Jesus will rule over all the nations and all judgment is devoted to Him24. It s amazing how the sinful nations are going to be Jesus inheritance and how He will rule over them. Christ Gives Them Tools to Break the Rebellious Nations to Pieces (Psalm 2:9) Jesus says that anyone who does not submit to Him will be destroyed25. Christ goes on to explain how easy it be would to break them and demolish the nations. It shows once again why there is no point in trying to dominate God because it cannot happen. No one can over power Him and no one can compete with Him. He is almighty and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Essay on The Benefits of Legalizing Marijuana The war on drugs is a movement of prohibition and military aid being undertaken by the United States government intended to both define and reduce the illegal drug trade (Bullington). In the year 2010 the U.S. government spent $15 billion on the war on drugs, at a rate of $500 per second. State and local governments spent another $25 billion as well. In 2007, $42 billion was spent on the marijuana prohibition. That is more money than the war on drugs spent on all types of drugs three years before (Hardy). Why is our government focusing on a drug that can be called merely harmless to those who use it? Why is this drug getting more money spent on it than drugs that are highly addictive and life threatening? Marijuana is not as dangerous as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 34. Invictus Figurative Language Essay Invictus by William Earnest Henley contains a multitude of figurative language, imagery, and symbolism. The poem s influential message is expressed these elements of speech. The use of figurative language, imagery and symbolism in Invictus revolve around the theme that a person is in charge of their own fate. Many metaphor, similes and personification flow throughout the poem; they help enrich the images and feelings that Henley describes. The first metaphor Henley uses is Out of the night that covers me (1), describes the pain and suffering he has endured during his sickness using the word night which is often associated with darkness therefore suggesting his pain. In that same metaphor we can find an example of personification, Henley ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most of the imagery used are adjectives that relate to the horrors of despair that he feels when he is first going through his illness and later using adjectives to describe his bravery that allowed him to take control of his own fate. The first stanza contains a vast amount of imagery beginning with the second line using the simile Black as the pit from pole to pole (2) to convey that his illness was a dark and miserable time and that his pain was so severe that it went from the South to the North pole. The second stanza contains another piece of imagery, which is, My head is bloody, but unbowed (8). In this line he defines his deceitful fate and the punishment fate has put him through. The word unbowed shows the strong self control he has accomplished during his struggle. This line is probably most important to the meaning as a whole because it displays how strong and courageous the author is. In the third stanza, Henley says, Beyond this place of wrath and tears (9). In this line he is portraying a flash of anger and grief; this reveals what Henley actually felt during the time of his sickness. The use of the imagery runs through the poem to make the details vivid and make the story come to life. With the use of imagery comes the use of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Oryx And Crake Themes Think of an adaptation, any adaptation, and some animal somewhere will have thought of it first. Said by Crake from Oryx and Crake written by Margaret Atwood, this quote has a lot to do with the themes of Genetic Engineering and Biodiversity. In the book there is a constant reminder that nothing is real, and I believe that Atwood uses characters such as Jimmy s mother to show the negative aspects of genetic engineering. As Jimmy has grown up, he has watched his world evolve into a place where everything and anything could be recreated, including human body parts, food, and nature. Other books that focus with this issue is The Machine Stops, by E. M. Forster. Before Crake had even created the Crakers, the perfect human, the world was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With new products that allowed yourself to change yourself, these products were all a contribution for a constant need for modification, like a drug. If you were able to change yourself for the better why wouldn t you? An interesting part in Oryx and Crake is the sales pitch, Jimmy makes for the BlyssPluss Pill. It openly advertised 3 things, immunity to sexually transmitted diseases, an unlimited supply to sexual libido, and a prolonged youth. What the advertisement fails to mention is that by taking the pill, you will lose the ability to have children. I don t believe that this would have stopped the people from taking the pill. With all the positive outcomes, would it really have made much of a difference? That was the major problem with genetic modification, it was a choice. Through a series of events it can be argued that the BlyssPluss was able to end the human race, and because of the great advertising that was used it spread like wildfire. All the people knew were the positive aspects, making it seem like an end to all problems, just like what companies are doing today. With products that help your skin or pills to help alter your appearance, though it may seem less extreme, we are modifying ourselves every day as a conscious decision or ... Articles that are non satirical typically center around fact and highlight what is actually happening without the use of figurative language. Environmental problems are becoming increasingly prevalent in society today and people frequently express them using both satirical and non satirical means. With this ever increasing volume of environmental problems beginning to damage the environment more and more, individuals are seeking to repair the environment. Due to this exponential increase of harm to the environment, individuals will have to put in more effort in order to come to a solution that will mitigate the largest damage to the environment. In order to solve these problems, the problems have to be wholly understood, and the attention of individuals that can actually do something to solve these problems needs to be reached.Satirical and non satirical means of expressing these environmental problems will be evaluated in their effectiveness to see which method is better for conveying these issues. • 37. Illegals Are Costing Americans A Lot Of Money Did you know more than 10,000 aliens cross the border every day, and there are several million undocumented illegals in our country today. Only about .5% is sent back to their home country. That is too many illegals for the U.S. to take care of, and a lot of them are taking American jobs increasing our unemployment rate. Most of these Illegals bring in many drugs so they can get money to start a new life. There are too many Illegals coming into our county its s a problem and we need to change that. Illegals are costing Americans a lot of money. In 2000 Mexico proposed that its poor works should be able to immigrate to the U.S., but the U.S. did not want Mexico s poor workers. Mexico would be the only one who would benefit for that deal that allowed Mexican immigration in. America does not have enough jobs for both Americans and Mexico unskilled workers. Like Samuel Robert said #2 . An increase in Mexico s immigration would lead to a lot of competition and a lot more kids in public schools for education. We don t just need to focus on keeping them out we also need to get rid of the illegals in our country now. You should not reward the illegals we have for breaking that law. Many of the legal immigrants would say that is unfair and try to sneak in, and not give them green cards it would add too many people to the system at one time. It would also encourage more to come in illegally. What would we do with these new works when the economy will crash after to many people start ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. The Curriculum Policy Statement Of The Council On Social Work Problem Statement, Background, and Research Interest The Curriculum Policy Statement of the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE, 2001), the accrediting body of all bachelor s and master s social work degree programs in the United States, requires all social work programs to teach students how to promote economic and social justice. The revised Code of Ethics (1996) of the National Association of Social Workers proclaims the pursuit of social justice one of the profession s core values and establishes as an ethical imperative, Social workers challenge social injustice (NASW, 1996, p. 5). At first glance, these statements give the appearance of a trade which has retained its professional identity regardless of the opposition demonstrated by the current trends in social, political, and economic policy; however, upon closer inspection these phrases seem archaic, even patronizing as they assume that social workers work for rather than with people. Then what do these statements really signify? For nearly four decades, pundits have consistently proclaimed the bankruptcy of socialist ideas, the fascist evils lurking in communism, the triumph of the free market and liberal democracy... the so called end of history (Fukuyama, 1992). Proposals to privatize Social Security, the cornerstone of what s left of the U.S. welfare state, have gained credibility and popularity, even a sense of inevitability. The working class has learned to consistently vote against its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
