An Oppositional Defiant Disorder ( Developmental Manual...
For one to understand Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) it is important to examine the criterion
that place this disorder within the realm of Disruptive, Impulse Control, and Conduct Disorders.
The American Psychiatric Association note in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental
Disorders (2013) that, [these] disorders include conditions involving problems in the self control of
emotions and behaviors. [They] are unique in that these problems are manifested in behaviors that
violate the rights of others and/or bring the individual into significant conflict with social norms
and authority figures (p. 461). Diagnostic Features Children of all ages are prone to misbehave at
school on occasion, but for children with ODD, negative... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Vindictiveness: Has been spiteful or vindictive at least twice within the past 6 months. Criterion B:
The disturbance in behavior as associated with distress in the individual or others in his immediate
context, or impacts negatively on social, educational, occupational, or other important areas of
functioning. Criterion C: The behaviors do not occur exclusively during the course of psychotic,
substance use, depressive, or bipolar disorder. Also, the criteria are not met for disruptive mood
dysregulation disorder (APA, 2013). Etiology and Course It is sometimes difficult to determine
whether a child truly meets the criteria for having an ODD diagnosis because many of the
behavioral qualifications are commonly seen among youth in early childhood and adolescence. If a
child s behaviors consistently cause distress to the family system and have an effect on his or her
social and educational functioning, further evaluation is appropriate. ODD has been linked to many
other comorbid disorders, such as anxiety; depression; and, most commonly, attention deficit
/ hyperactivity disorder (Erford, Paul, Oncken Kress, 2014). Disruptive behavior is the most
common mental health problem seen by pediatricians. Although attention deficit/

Nonviolent Protests
We cannot turn on our televisions or get on social media without hearing about recent protests.
Some peaceful and some violent, but what difference do the two make? We all have seen riots
and we ve seen how they can end: a spray of rubber bullets, dogs digging their teeth into
screaming people s legs, and the trashing of public places. We ve seen the sit ins and marches
filled with people that have no fear in holding their signs high and proud. To some violence seems
like the only answer, but the results are not as rewarding nor as long lasting. Although some may
believe violence is the only answer they are turning a blind eye because nonviolent protests are
more successful, get more government support, and gather more civilians around the cause.
To begin with, the common misconception is that you can t be heard on your issue unless you re
being violent. People get to the point where they feel so oppressed they feel the need to not just use
their voices but their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Often violence leaves a bad taste in a politician s mouth as they don t want to be a part of a
possible blood bath that could backfire on their careers. For example, a study done by Omar
Wasow of Princeton University showed the effects in voting polls after violent civil rights protests
in the 1960s, and found that the support for law and order was so high that many citizens voted for
republican leaders in hopes that in the future outbursts like that could be controlled. Those leaders
used those protests to their advantage by saying violence would not be tolerated, and they can gain
just as much by standing by a peaceful protest. A sit in is a show of passion and strength in their
beliefs that encourages people to feel they are passionate in what they believe in. A community
appreciates a firm stand much like they appreciate a safe and happy environment for

Improving The Immigration Policy
Many immigrants feel like it is a challenge to be accepted into another country. Some minorities
feel as if congress is not doing an exceptional job on how their immigration policy runs. The
Immigration policies between the United States of America and South Africa are incredibly similar;
it seems as if both countries are not considering minorities to be important in another country. Even
though they don t highly appreciate minorities, they both have an elevated focus for defense of
security and health. Congress is blind to the fact a majority of the workforce going on in the United
Statesare not documented. Improving the immigrationpolicy will differ from the lives in both South
America and The United States. In the United States the immigration

Executive Summary This paper provides a broad definition of ethical behavior and Corporate
Social Responsibility (CSR) in the competitive world of oil and mining industries of today. It is
also acknowledged that factors behind both ethics and CSR are evolving and therefore, the factors
for both ethics and CSR are defined for three different periods. The first period will focus on ...

Factors Nowadays, the more appropriate question needs to be answered is no longer to what
extent should a corporation include the society in their business operation but how to do it and
use it as the river for organizational success (Epstein et al, 2006). In recent years, ethics and
social responsibility have been playing an important role in the business world including in oil
and mining industries. The pressure towards society and ethical conducts are higher than ever.
Although every oil and mining multinational corporations economic missions are acknowledged,
it is now their responsibility also to address public concerns. Oil and mining industries are known
as the subject of scrutiny and bad press related with ethics and CSR concerns (Lins Horwitz,
2007). The interest on CSR and ethics are always fore fronted to the mining and oil corporations
(Kapelus, 2009). The idea was developed since a long time ago, where multinational corporations
are demanded to provide community development packages and assistance to their host
communities (Amaewhule, 1997). Every business person, regardless their position in the hierarchy,
company geographic details or even its products and services are now facing the same challenge
which is how to define their corporation role for the society.

Freedom Of Speech And Freedom Of Speech
One of the most complex things in establishing in a government is determining how much freedom
the citizens in a society has. Throughout history we have seen many different type of governments
that include North Koreas dictatorship to the United States that has a government based on
principles of democracy. In societies that have democratic governments such as the United States,
England, France, and many other western European countries, the citizens have a high degree of
freedom of speech. In addition, these people are allowed to have a high degree of freedom of
thought. Although these are both very important to have in life because they allow you to express
who you truly are, there is a difference between freedom of speech and freedom of thought. While
there is a difference between freedom of speech and freedom of thought, English Philosopher John
Stuart Millprovides his opinion on the importance of freedom of speech and freedom of thought in
his book On Liberty. Whether you are a person who is wealthy or poor, highly educated or not
educated at all, or even a minority, every person in a democratic society such as the United States is
granted the right of freedom speech. Other countries throughout Western Europe grant the right of
freedom of speech to their citizens. However, the right of freedom of speech is granted by the
United States constitution which was written during the eighteenth century. It is clear that the
countries that allow the right of freedom of

Reality Boy Theme
Through the beginning to the middle of November, I read the book Reality Boy by A.S. King.
Reality Boy is about Gerald Faust, a kid in highschool who had his whole childhood screwed up
because he was on reality TV. His mom thought he was retarded, his sister constantly beats him
up, and the whole world laughed in amusement as they watched him take craps everywhere. The
book was interesting because he started out as a kid known as The Crapper and he was able to
turn his life around for the better. The theme of this novel is that even though you have
experienced awful things in your life and has been screwed inside and out, you can still overcome
the obstacles that stand in your way of success. For example, on page 260, A.S. King writes... Show

There is a lot of adult themed topics throughout the book like sex, cursing, and many others. A
young reader, for example, my sister who is eight years old, shouldn t be reading this because
nobody wants an eight year old kid going around and yelling F*K THIS S**T! (King 104). I am
pretty sure you get the picture with the other topics. I recommend that librarians should put a
warning label or a parental advisory sign on it or something because this book should not be in
our library and especially an elementary s library. Speaking of this book, I give it an 8 out of
10. It is interesting and funny at some points, but I just didn t like how his entire childhood was
ruined because of his family. I really wish that there were less cursing in it because most of it is
unnecessary. But, if this book was in a series, I would definitely read it. In conclusion, Reality
Boy by A.S. King is an interesting but inappropriate boo, but for me it was a pleasure to read it. I
liked ho Gerald, whose life was turned upside down, turned it rightside up and made it better for

Globalization Has Created A Tremendous Impact On The Lives...
Within the past decades, globalization has created a tremendous impact on the lives of women and
men globally. Globalization denotes the process in which economic, financial, and technical
transactions between different countries and communities throughout the world are becoming
increasingly interconnected (Pearson). Yet in the beginning of the millennium, contemporary
globalizationhas additionally taken more of a human form, as it has integrated and interconnected a
collectivistic mass culture (Powerpoint). The phenomenon has shaped gendered relations and
destinies worldwide in a positive and constructive ways, but many times in a negative and
exploitative manner. Often, the experiences of globalization have favoured one genderover... Show

The gendered relations have consequently shaped the cultural and societal norms as result of the
economic forms of globalization. As women are entering the work force, they have become more
autonomous and are able to live [how they] want (Sengupta). What s more, the role of women in
the family is changing because they have reduced domestic expectations. Many women are
deferring marriages, while they make money, obtain higher levels of education, and live lives that
most of their mothers could not have dreamed of. Additionally, in a highly communicative
globalized world, there are new models of attainment with seeing women in roles of leadership,
whether it is politically or economically, women may feel empowered to exercise their desire for
high powers of leadership and to exercise femininity in such an emancipative way. This could result
in increased political representation and participation in feminist movements by woman. On the
other hand, as a result of the women being more financially independent, the transformation of the
family is deviating from the patriarchal norm. This is visible as the men s role as an illusion
breadwinner is being destroyed, as there is less pressure for them to be the only source of income
for families. Furthermore, with both men or women being more mobile in their labour because of
the international political

Impact Of Social Media On The Workplace
Introduction World organizations are opening up to the idea of usage of social media for
reaching out to the employees. Some Organizations CXOs (CXO means the job titles starts with
Chief and ends with Officer includes: CEO, CFO) still hold reservations about usage of social
media for hiring and seem more comfortable with the more traditional methods like job portals,
employee referrals, walk ins etc. However, with increased pressure on CHROs to keep a check
on recruitment budgets, they are exploring more social media options and we will see a greater
momentum in this area in World. Companies continue to use intranet portal for internal branding
and do not seem very open to using publicly available social media websites. One out of every
nine people in the world use Facebook, with an estimated 700 billion minutes being spent every
month on this application, it is interesting to note that over 2.5 million organizations have a
Facebook presence in addition to their corporate websites. An estimated 250 million people
access social media sites through their mobile devices. The impact that social media has on the
daily lives of people is beyond like on Facebook or re tweet on Twitter. Organizations are feeling
the need to be present on not just one social media platform, however, on ensuring that they are
available and listening to all at all times. Commenting on the role of social media in an interview to

Virginia Woolf s Of Human Bondage
Of Human Bondage is, as we all know, written from Philip s point of view, and therefore we
sympathize with Philip, care about what goes on his life, and even feel attached to him. But, if
the story had been written from say, Mildred s point of view, we may not feet the same about
Philip. Chances are, his characterization would be completely different because of how Mildred
views him, and we would probably grow to dislike Philip as much as we learned to dislike
Mildred. Many have heard the saying, history is written by the winners, meaning we more
commonly sympathize with the winners because it is they who got to tell the story, and we learn
to dislike the opposing side, the way we dislike the British of the Revolutionary, the way we dislike

We would have been able to understand her thoughts about Philip, her odd distaste for him, how
she genuinely felt about the German man she left Philip for. We may view Philip in a different
light, as a weak, easily manipulated man, or as a man who didn t care, didn t understand her
situation. While we would still, most likely, see the faults in Mildred, the way we did with
Philip, we would probably think of them in a kinder way. After all, we all disliked Mildred when
she left Philip, who clearly loved her, to be with the German man. Yet, is that not what Philip
did do Nora, who really did love him? The two characters have many similarities, yet we view
one as good, and one as bad. Both raised by people other than their parents, both concerned with
money, both easily distracted, both in love just, not necessarily with each other. They both
turned to others for money when they were struggling; Philip wishing his uncle would die,
Mildred begging Philip for help. Neither of these characters are exactly good people, but they are
seen as opposing forces of good versus evil. It is in this way that, through perspective, we choose
who are the good people, and who are the bad. If Of Human Bondage had been written from a
different point of view, it is likely that we would have

My Papa s Waltz
The Father Son Connection
One of the most powerful relationships someone ever forms is the connection that they have with
their own father. Those Winter Sundays by Robert Hayden and My Papa s Waltz by Theodore
Roethke are both poems that brilliantly describe this powerful relationship between father and son.
The feelings that the poets have toward the subject are found deep within the two poems often
hidden behind how the character feels toward his own father. Even though these poems were
published in different time periods, one feels the similarities and differences within the tone, form,
or even the imagery of the poems.
Those Winter Sundays and My Papa s Waltz were written by two different authors so naturally

But when one is to look at the tone in those Winter Sundays they may find that it s very regretful.
The adult narrator is remembering the admirable qualities of his dead father. The narrator refers
to his father s with then with cracked hand that ached/in the weekday weather made/banked fires
blaze. No one ever thanked him, which demonstrates that the child took the father and his actions
for granted, and now, as an adult, the speaker is feeling remorse for it. The narrator copes with
the loss of his father and his inability to tell the father that he appreciated the Sunday ritual by
saying What did I know, what did I know/of love s austere and lonely offices.
The few similarities of these poems lie in the idea behind the writing. Both Hayden and Roethke
seem to have created a poem that is about the bond between father and son. Even more so, the
poems both take the form of a memory of the speaker who is looking back to a time that they
remember with their own father. The last major difference in these two poems is how the author
uses imagery within the work. In Those Winter Sundays there is no expression of warmth within
human activity. These images reflect the cold of the house, the cold of the father s hands, that
ached and the cold in the boy s heart, speaking indifferently. On

Summary Of The Charge Of The Light Brigade At Balaklava
The Charge of the Light Brigade at Balaklava by Lord Alfred Tennyson is a poem about the
historical battle that took place between British and Russia during the Crimean War. Tennyson
wrote the poem as a remembrance of the heroism and bravery the British soldiers showed during
the battle. The poem is well known for its repetitive rhythm that is used to portray the sound of the
charge. The repetition used in the poem widely affects the rhythm, emotion, and story being told.
Without it, the poem could not have nearly portrayed the strength of the battle as well as it did.
This poem uses a technique known as falling rhythm. Falling rhythm is when the stress is on the
first beat of the line, and then falls off for the remaining words. This can be deemed important
because of the way it is a symbol for the fall of the British troops. Although the rhyme scheme
changes throughout the poem, Tennyson uses very similar strategies within each stanza. He
often rhymes the last word, and sometimes even uses the same final word for many line. For
example, When can their glory fade! / Oh the wild charge they made! / All the world wondered.
/ Honor the charge they made! / Honor the Light Brigade, / Noble six hundred! Even though the
stress is on the first beat, the last words of most of the lines rhyme, making the whole line seem
strong and complete each time we read it. Notice how he uses the word made twice, and rhymes
with that word 4 times. This helps the reader

Student Justifications for Abusing Adderall
What Are U of M Students Perceptions of Adderall?
INTRODUCTION
With the increased pressure to succeed and the chaotic collegiate lifestyle taking a toll on students,
Adderall has evolved into the go to drug. The Class II prescription amphetamine is intended to
solely treat individuals with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy. The
stimulant works to enhance concentration by stimulating the production of dopamine and
norepinephrine in the brain (Stolz 585). Recently, there has been a dramatic increase in the use of
Adderall on college campuses to enhance academic performance and cram for exams through the
over stimulation of the brain, therefore creating super enhanced focus (Stolz 585), deeming it the
smart drug. Due to the fact that several students are not truly diagnosed with ADHD, a majority of
this use on campuses is illegal; this has become a growing problem affecting the health of students
and entailing issues of competiveness and fairness (Jacobs 1). In recent years, the abuse of
Adderall has circulated hundreds of college campuses and even secondary schools.
Unfortunately, students are being deceived by the stimulant drug s valuable qualities, masking the
serious, detrimental effects that the drug induces. Even worse, contributing to Adderall s extensive
abuse across campuses, instead of condemnation it is implicitly being praised and validated by
parents and students who view these drugs as a means of academic

Love Of Money In The Great Gatsby
In the Great Gatsby, the main character Nicks moves to New York to learn about the bond
business. He moves to a rich district in the state, where people tend to show off their wealth and
social status. Nick s neighbor Gatsby does this especially, because he throws major parties every
Saturday to display his riches. The real reason Gatsby does this is because he is attempting to gain
the attention of Daisy whom Gatsby is in lovewith. Daisy, who is married to Tom who is wealthy
himself, lives a comfortable life but in reality she is not happy. Gatsby, with the help of Nick, tries
to win Daisy with his money instead of his heart. Fitzgerald utilizes his characters through the text
the Great Gatsbyand using their perspective to demonstrate how the love of money brings people
to believe that they re happy. In the Great Gatsby, we see characters such as Gatsby show off
their riches to people, but the reason Gatsby does this is that he is trying to get Daisy s attention.
Gatsby is doing this because the basis of why he could not marry Daisy was because he did not
have much money. While talking with Nick about his previous encounters with Daisy, Gatsby
states that the only reason he believes Daisy fell in love with another man was because Gatsby
was poor. This man which Daisy married is Tom and from his perspective, we see how the love
of money causes Daisy to make herself believe she has fallen in love with him. He had deliberately
given Daisy a sense of security....that he

The young Peter would enter a ministry of Justice as a clerk in 1859 (Mason 1). Tchaikovsky
stayed there four years despite the long journey to Western Europe and increasing involvement
in music. In 1863 he entered the conservatory where he took private teachings and focused all his
energy to his music and compositions. Three years later in 1866 he and his family had moved to
Moscow with a professorship of harmony at a new conservatory. Even by this time very little of
his music had pleased the conservative musical establishment or the more nationalist group. It
was not until 1868 when his 1st Symphony had a good public reception when heard in Moscow.
Not even a year later Tchaikovsky wrote his first opera the Voyevada. He later used this piece in
his next opera the Oprichnik, which won some success at St. Petersburg in 1874. It was then
that a critic named Balakirev requested that he write a work on Romeo and Juliet, which would
later be known as the Fantasy Overture. This specific work was rewritten many times until it met
the requirements of Balakirev. This romantic piece is a symphony where each theme stood for a
character in the drama. It is these expressive themes that make his first works well defined. The
symphony Romeo and Juliet is a love song in sonata form. It is a Fantasy Overture and not a
symphonic poem, because Tchaikovsky makes no attempt to tell the story in order or in detail

Printing Organs And The Human Body
Printing organs has been talked about and attempted to be used for close to 40 years. Printing
organs can help with advancements in many ways because it could help many of the people that
are on the Organ Transplanting List, not to mention it could save countless lives as well. If organs
are able to be printed and executed for procedures and transplants, then we could reduce hospital
bills that increase during the time that you are waiting for an organ. Therefore, making a large
advancement in the healthcare field. Organ printingcan be very difficult and must be executed very
carefully considering that the body may reject the new organ. Three dimensional (3D) printing
is a manufacturing method in which objects are made by fusing or depositing materials such as
plastic, metal, ceramics, powders, liquids, or even living cells in layers to produce a 3D object
(Ventola, October 2014). It is incredible to see how such materials can be used to be put together
to make a living organism that can be used in a human s body. As a person ages this could be
very useful because organs tend to fail and become weak when a person gets older they could
potentially be used to replace the failing organs. There are many different types of 3D printing
and they do all come with some positives but at the same time they come with some negatives as
well. There is selective laser printing, an SLS printer uses powdered material as the substrate for

Core Skills Self Reflective Essay
Core Skills Self reflective Essay In this essay I will go through the most important skills that I
acquired in the last few years in relation to the ones needed in the industry. In addition, I will also
look at my weaknesses and what I can do to overcome them. Since I started my studies and up to
this date, I have learned a lot about what is required to work in the Aviation industry. There is a
wide range of skills required, although most of them apply to roles one can take on in the
specific industry. In other words, some skills are more role specific. Reflecting on my skills, I
believe I have excellent social, communication and language skills. These skills are essential in
any customer facing or team work oriented job. As explained by Morgeson, F. P. et al. in
Selecting individuals in team settings: The importance of social skills, personality characteristics,
and teamwork knowledge. (2005): Social skills are particularly important in team settings
because working in teams increases the interdependence among workers, typically producing
greater conflict, workload sharing, and coordination demands than work that is performed

Federalist 10 Essay
Federalist 10 Liberty. This word means many things to many people. There is no way to distinctly
define the term without leaving someone s crucial point of view out of the equation.
One person might say that anarchy would be the only way to have complete and utter freedom,
while others would go as far as to believe a controlled communist government is the best route to
achieving liberation. Factions (a group of people who agree on certain topics) are inevitable, due to
the nature of man. As long as men hold different opinions, have different amounts of wealth, and
own different amount of property, they will continue to fraternize with people who are most similar
to them. In Federalist #10, James Madison summed up factions ... Show more content on

The only way to manage faction is to remove its causes and to control its effects. By removing its
causes Madison believes that liberty will be destroyed, or that by giving every citizen the same
opinions, passions, and interests, would be impossible because people can never all be the same.
Madison wanted the United States to be a republic, a form of democracy in which power is
vested in representatives, so there will be a greater number of citizens represented and we will also
be able to have more control over the factions effects.
In today s society, we see many examples of James Madison s explicit view on American political
culture. Everyone in America, from the time that they have been born, has been placed into
factions. Newborns are put into daycare facilities based on their parent s income and parental
beliefs. Students, throughout their entire academic career, have volunteered to become part of at
least one faction. Some students stay after school for art club, French club, guitar club, or a select

Unusual Tactics by the United States in the Pacific War
The war in the Pacific was unlike any war the United States had fought up until that time. They
couldn t use their normal ground attack tactics; they had to figure out how to win from above.
Unlike in the European front they couldn t move through and allied country to forge a ground
attack against their enemy. They needed to find a way to hit Japan from the air with the added
difficulty of the mainland being across an ocean from the target. Before any attack could be
launched the U.S. needed supplies in the form of long range bombers. These bombers were
extremely important in the Pacific Theater, without them the U.S. wouldn t have beaten Japan.
After the surprise Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941 it took the United States until
April of 1942 to retaliate. That was done through the Doolittle Raid. A group of 16 B 25 launched
from the USS Hornet to conduct the first bombing on Japanese soil. Despite not having very
much of a military significance the raid of Tokyo was a great boost to the moral of military and
the public of the United States. It showed both Japan and the U.S. that Japan wasn t out of reach
and was no longer isolated in the Pacific. After the 1942 campaign it wasn t until 1944 when the
U.S. launched another bombing attack on Japan. At the beginning the War in the Pacific had a slow
start, much of that had to do with the preparation it took to attack the enemy in a new style of
warfare.
The Doolittle raid proved the need for a long range bomber.

Unimodal And Bimodal Silica
In 2006, Franscesc Lloret et al. employed unimodal and bimodal silica based mesoporous
materials as support hosts for octanuclear Ni(II) oxamate complex44 of formula
{[Ni2(mpba)3][Ni(dpt)H2O)]6}(ClO4)4В·12.5H2O}, (Ni8) with mpba = m phenylenedioxamate
and dpt = dipropylenetriamine. This complex possesses a moderately anisotropic (S = 4) ground
spin state (D = 0.23 cm 1) and exhibits slow magnetic relaxation below TB = 3.0 K in the
crystalline state. The mesoporous silicas MCM 41, UVM 7 and UVM 11 were investigated to
incorporate Ni8 SMMs. The unimodal silica MCM 41 has small pores of 2.8 nm diameter while
UVM 7 has bimodal pores of 2.58 nm and 34.89 nm. A third silica, UVM 11, which is a porous
amorphous xerogel was also studied to act as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In stark contrast, MCM 41 and UVM 7 show much different magnetic properties after successful
incorporation into the silica pores. Notably, the П‡MT term for both silicas is higher than
expected for magnetically isolated Ni8 molecules (such as those in UVM 11) which supports the
presence of repeating Ni8 units forming [Ni8]x aggregates. П‡MT also reaches a maximum at a
range of 3 10 K, in contrast to the Tmax = 3 K of the SMM alone where Tmax generally increases
with increasing loading amount. This behavior can be rationalized due to magnetic anisotropy and
/or antiferromagnetic interactions between aggregates. A proposed mechanism consists of Ni8
SMMs filling the silica pores and consequent aggregation which is mediated by deprotonated
silanol groups present on the pores (Fig. 4). In turn [Ni8]x aggregates, joined by Ni O Ni bonds
interact in a ferromagnetic manner which allows for the Ni8 monomers to undergo magnetic
exchange interactions. This mechanism holds up to a point, a 100% loading amount results in
packing which imposes a steric strain on the filamentous [Ni8]x and pushes the Ni O Ni angle
towards a higher value, prompting antiferromagnetic interactions leading to a decrease in magnetic
susceptibility. AC magnetic measurements were used to verify the retention of SMMs
characteristics within the

Schuurvy Research Paper
Scurvy is a nutritional disease that stems from a lack of Vitamin C. I chose this as my topic
because I have always been interested in history and how historically on ships it was difficult to
have fresh fruit aboard because they would spoil on long trips and instead they would have meats
and foods that could be preserved with heavy amounts of salt. Scurvy was first documented as a
disease by Hippocrates and was discovered by ancient Egyptians in 1550 but people would often
forget eating Vitamin Cis an effective cure for the disease. In the 13th century people often suffered
from Scurvy. Eventually the explorers wizened up to this and the Portuguese planted fruit trees and
vegetables that they could harvest on their way home from journeys

Swatch spent approximately 30% of the retail price of its watches on advertising as its marketing
plan. This was about two times high compared with the industry average. They also were able to
use unique marketing events and advertising schemes to promote Swatch, emphasizing on below
the line activities. It also had decentralized marketing and centralized manufacturing systems.
Additionally, the company created the Swatch collectors Club for its loyal consumers. The Swatch
street journal, a magazine that included all information about Swatch in trends, was produced. It
also chose a nontraditional retail approach, creating unexpected points of purchase. For example, it
launched the Veggie Swatch line in fruit and vegetable market. SMH pursued shop in shop systems
or miniboutiques so that consumers could only focus on the Swatch products, not displaying its
products with other watches.
Those strategies helped Swatch lead this market in the watch industry, selling 26 million swatches
in 1992 and reversing SMH s fortunes. Despite its success, there are some concerns whether the
success of the Swatch would continue. Still, the world watch market was highly fragmented except
Citizen, Seiko, and SMH. There were numerous watch competitors in Switzerland, Asia, and Unite
states. The market share of Swatch was still relatively low in the single digits due to

NCAA Recruiting Issues
Once the proposal was shown, the NCAA council and the committee made all necessary changes;
they were then able to call for a special convention that same year in 1973 (Katz Seifried 2014).
This time, Sherman proposed three legislative and three competitive divisions (Katz Seifried 2014).
The institutions would be able to pick a division without considering their football teams, and then
the CollegeFootball Committee would determine where the college football team should fall
and the institution would follow suit (Katz Seifried 2014). He also proposed by 1975 that there
would be 39 national championships and 10 in each division (Katz Seifried 2014). Once brought
to a vote, the results were much different: 366 were in favor and only 13 were not (Katz Seifried

Violence in the Athletic World
HHPR 878 99 We can pretend that sports are not the main source of entertainment in today s
society. Whether we are athletes playing the sport, avid fans watching our teams and their
statistics, or the coaches, it is our character to always be in tuned to what is going on in the
competitive sports world. Now, our competitive nature can either give us an edge in life or, in
opposition, can cause us to burn bridges. To elaborate, being competitive shows determination, hard
work, and is a form of utilizing our gifted talents, resulting in positive outcomes; this is referring to
anything in life, not just athletics. On the other hand, being competitive to the point that we are
losing teammates, friends, and those close to us shows poor sportsmanship and can have a negative
effect on character. Physical violenceis just one among the many different types of violence in
today s athletic world. Some of the more common non physical abuses among both male and
female athletes are substance abuse, eating disorders, and verbal abuse/emotional stress. Although
these are not physical, they have the potential to eventually lead to physical violence and injuries.
We all have heard numerous theories of steroid and substance abuse. It can cause not only physical
changes to the body, but can also cause emotional and psychological alterations, including
aggressive behavior that is not easily controlled. The use of performance enhancing drugs is not a
recent conflict; it has been talked of

The Things They Carried Kiowa Character Traits
Character Analysis Essay Throughout the story, The Things They Carried, written by Tim O Brien,
the author presents Kiowa as a complex and intelligent trooper by using multiple indirect and
sometimes confusing quotes like, The earth is slow, but the buffalo is patient... (O Brien 35). These
mystical and spiritual quotes/characteristics are why many readers become intrigued by him. Some
of these characterizations can be found through the character s thoughts, his actions/what he says,
and what others say about him. Overall, Kiowa was known for being a kind trooper, a man with
his beliefs straight, and a well respected human being. Numerous times in this book Kiowa

Cause Of The Civil War
This historical study will define the causes of the Civil War by understanding the divisive nature of
the southern agrarian and northern industrial economies. In the Antebellum era, the South relied
heavily on the production of cash crops, such as cotton and tobacco, that relied heavily on a
plantation economy. Southern plantation owners also relied heavily on slave labor, which
prevented more fluid labor markets from encouraging industrialization. Plantation owners did not
want the advanced agricultural machinery used by northern industries, since the slave trade was
highly profitable system of trade in and unto itself. In the North, the rapid advancement of industry
had a greater mobility in labor markets, since wage labor replaced the slave... Show more content on

More so, it identifies the exponential development of Northern industry, which vastly
outperformed the South of economic output and military power. Of course, the South was
uninterested in developing its own large industrial factories because it challenged the agrarian
reliance on slave labor. This is part of the passage from slavery to contract that was causing so
much strife before the Civil War, which led to open warfare between the North and the South.
These irreconcilable differences were part of the continual rift between the agrarian economy of the
South and the rapidly growing industrial economy during the antebellum era. The industrialization
of the North was part of a diversification of the economy, which slowly abandoned the tenets of
slavery in the late 18th century and into the early 19th century. However, the South continued to
support an increase in slave ownership that eventually became a large scale business in the
agrarian labor markets. These are important causes of the Civil War that relied heavily on the
inability of the North and the South to integrate more cooperative economic relationships as a
result of the conflict of slave labor and voluntary wage labor in the mid 19th

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of White Privilege
In our world today, White privilege is an existing matter. White privilege can be defined as
advantages that assist white individuals in flourishing and gaining success. Privilege is in and of
itself a struggle to equality. The advantages in privilege display the inequality that is in our
society towards those who are not white. We as a society usually do not see the inequality in the
opportunity and quality of life amongst those of different races, and this results from the fact of
wealthy white counterparts being in control and in power since the birth of this nation. White
privilege is something most do not think about and is not fully identified in our daily lives. People

Most of our History has been consistently recorded by the winners (whites) and that those who
succeed and hold the most power can choose to recognize what they wish and cold shoulder the

established the approach of domination from their position and power of their skin tone, granting
them the authority in society. Although a great number of white Americans do not tediously rely

Health Disparities Of Prenatal Care
One important health disparity is the lack of prenatal care amongst women in socially
disadvantaged populations. These predominately include women of minorities, women who have a
low income, and the location these women live in. This health disparity is important to address
because research has shown that women who receive prenatal care are more likely to conceive
babies of a healthy birth weight and have low infantmortality rates than those women who do not
receive this prenatal care ( Putting Women s Health Disparities on the Map, 2009). Therefore,
health disparities amongst women in need of prenatal care have lead to preventable infant
mortalities amongst women in vulnerable populations. Three reasons why this health disparity is
important to address include the following: health disparities in prenatal care lead to lack of
access to prenatal care to women in vulnerable populations, there are increased adverse health
outcomes for both the infant and mother, and there are excess medical expenses that could
otherwise have been prevented. Because prematurity is the leading cause of newborn death in the
United States ( Healthy Mothers and Healthy babies, 2013), finding and developing a solution will
be extremely beneficial and needs to begin with addressing prenatal care.
The first problem that needs to be addressed is simply the lack of access for women in vulnerable
populations to prenatal care. This is a major problem because we see that the rate of women who

through the assignments of this course I have come to realize the skills and abilities that are in

I found interesting ever since I was little. For when I was younger, I was in the hospital quite
often for countless reasons, and knowing that I was going to be perfectly okay lead my

The Lottery Persuasive Analysis
Just because someone is standing up for what is right does not mean they will always be well
liked or they will fit in with everyone. If someone stands up for what is right and everyone else
disagrees with them there may be some serious consequences. In The Lottery by Shirley Jackson,
Tessie Hutchinson spoke against their tradition, nobody would listen to her but she still spoke
against it. She tried and tried, no matter how difficult it was, to get into the townspeople s mind
that they should not be doing what they are doing, that it is wrong. Some people are not as brave
as Tessie Hutchinson, Martin Niemoller, for example, had the chance to speak up against the
Nazi, he had the chance to speak for what is right, instead he kept silent in First they came . It is
hard standing up for what is right, especially when you do not know what the consequences are,
whether you ll get hurt or teased or whether somebody else will.
In detail, The Lottery is about standing up for what is right is not always the easiest path. For
example, Some places have already quit lotteries Mrs. Adams said. Another quote that goes
along with that is, Nothing but trouble in that, Old Man Warner said stoutly. Pack of young
fools. (paragraph 33 34). The reason why this relates to the text because this is the time that
Tessie Hutchinson could have stood up and told everyone that it is not right to have this lottery,
instead she kept quiet because she knew it was not going to be easy standing up to the whole
town and saying that what they are doing is not right. She could have stood up more than she
did, instead she chose to wait until it was her who won the lottery. Another example to support
the theme is, Tessie Hutchinson shouted to Mr. Summers, You didn t give him time enough to
take any paper he wanted. I saw you. It wasn t fair! (paragraph 45), another quote that goes along
with it is, Be a good sport Tessie, Mrs. Delacroix called, and Mrs. Graves said, All of us took the
same chance. (paragraph 46). The reason why these two pieces of evidence supports the theme,
standing up for what s right may not always be the easiest path, is by showing that Tessie does
stand up. Maybe she is not standing up for the fact that

Change In Malcolm Gladwell s The Tipping Point

Malcolm Gladwell s The Tipping Point is radical because he talks about how the environment can
change people behavior. The environment could have caused people to change for better or worst.
For example: When people were placed in an environment of filth they are more violent and hectic
causing the crime rate to increase. When you come from a bad neighborhood you are statistically
more likely to be dangerous and belligerent. If you were to place people into a different
environment, you can expect change (not saying it always work). Throughout the story Malcolm
gives many examples of change. He starts off by talking about four young men who were on a
New York train. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The change came from simply fixing the trains, not from wanting to change but from cleaning up
the environment. Showing that they are more than what they see. Clean makes you feel better
about yourself as for dirty makes you feel scum like. So why not act how you feel? It is events
like what I stated above that helped the people to see that change can be just as simple as cleaning
the train. Being in an environment filled with filth, stench, and nothingness in the air, can lead you
to doing bad things. In the story four men were acting like they had something and when
approached a man were then shot. If you dig deeper, you truly find out the four young men didn t
have an easy life. They came from a horrible place. Somewhere less fortunate than they needed to
be. That key setting caused them to react and see things more angrily and act out as such.
Malcolm Gladwell writes:
The encounter between Bernie Goetz and those four youths on the subway: Allen, Ramseur,
Cabey, and Canty. At least two of them, according to some reports, appear to have been on drugs
at the time of the incident. They all came from the Claremont Village housing project in one of the
worst parts of the South Bronx. Cabey was, at the time, under indictment for armed robbery. Canty
had a prior felony for possession of stolen property. Allen had been previously arrested for

In all of his public appearances, Picker always seems to be speaking what is exactly on his mind
just speaking the truth, and even when the reader discovers that he has been putting up a façade
all along, the fact that Picker admits to his conflicts and problems only re emphasizes his nobleness.
One of the most important components to a political campaign is the voter, for no political
candidate can be elected without someone voting for them. The dedication of both candidates,
Stanton and Picker, to their voters is another aspect that accentuates their nobleness. Stanton is
remarkable in his devotion to the public; the ability to reach out and interact with the public and
the power to help them is the reason why he loves politics. While campaigning it is the people
that need him, like Danny Scanlon the crippled boy, the adult illiterates, or the unemployed in

dissolved with the water, the water began to fizz up. My hypothesis was proven correct how I said
that the surface are of a half crushed tablet will dissolve faster, I had hypothesized right. It had been
that the half crushed tablet had dissolved much faster then the other areas. By increasing the
surface area the reaction rateof the tablet will dissolve much faster.
Furthermore, the lack of the controlled variable had contributed to the experiment s

Social Construction Of Nature And Environmental Change
The assignment this week challenged us to utilize our course objectives to address the
requirements of the assignment. The objectives include how to apply the concepts of political
ecology to environmental concerns, analyze the link between social, cultural, geographic, cultural,
political factors, and environmental change, as well as assess methodological approaches used for
research in political ecology. In addition, this assignment will discuss how reserves and national
parks have been socially constructed/produced to be protected areas. Following this discussion, the
conversation will include an overview of how this construction of national parks and reserves may
result in the property rights reconstructing the resource into a rival good. Moreover, I will provide
a brief discussion on the relationship between social construction of nature and environmental
change. In conclusion, I will briefly review case studies and frameworks that are related to the
conservation of biodiversity.
The ability to apply concepts of political ecology to environmental concerns enables one to
understand why national parks and reserves have been socially constructed/produced. These
protected areas are legally protected to ensure their conservation because of the presence of given
environmental concerns. The article Ways of Seeing Africa: Colonial Recasting of African Society
and Landscape in Serengeti National Park by Roderick P. Neumann was a research endeavor that
sought to examine the

Belfast And Belfast Visitor Guide
According to uniquely Northern Ireland (2008), and Belfast visitor guide (2011), Belfast is the
capital and the largest city of the Northern Ireland. The climate is mild as a result of Atlantic Ocean
breezes and the Gulf Stream, with comfortable summers and temperate winters, snow is
uncommon, and however rainfall is heavy. Belfasthas warmth and hospitality quite unlike anywhere
else. Belfast is situated at the mouth of the River Lagan on the borders of County Antrim and down
in the province of Ulster the city could be divided into quarters which each of them have a story to
narrate to the visitors or the habitant. The quarters are City Centre, the Cathedral quarter, Queen s
quarter and Beyond the City Centre. Belfast is an adventurous... Show more content on

Belfast has about 12 different lines of express coach, bus and Rail network, they all pass through
the centre of the city but they all go to different destination, so getting around Belfast couldn t be
easier with lots of transport options.
This is an important fact to attract more tourism, so when they coming to a city they are able to
travel easily with different types of transport that they can use. The topography of Belfast is lot of
building, road, green land and the River Lagan.
Natural Feature: Belfast as many natural features in their country I choose Lagan Meadows and
Cave hill Park.
According to www.discovernorthernireland.com, Lagan Meadows is situated in south Belfast
alongside the River Lagan is a 120 acre park set aside for wildlife and public recreation. The
woodlands, meadows and wetlands are home to a variety of wildflowers, birds, butterflies and
other animals. The central region is managed as a nature reserve in conjunction with the Ulster
Wildlife Trust. A path through Lagan Meadows joins with the Lagan Towpath to provide a varied
and interesting walk.
The park also hosts regular events, organised by Lagan Valley Regional Park and the Ulster
Wildlife Trust. This natural feature will be visited by different types of tourist. A

The Effects Of Physical Therapy On Health Care Delivery...
A prevention program can be described as an arrangement of activities that attempt to alter a
situation from happening, reduce problems, or promote a certain outcome. Prevention programs are
available throughout the world covering many different aspects present in today s issues. Physical
therapy services have a direct connection to preventionprograms in that a therapist makes an effort
to treat a condition in order for it to be avoided, reduced, or changed if at all possible whether it is
an injury or infection. As stated by the Alabama Physical TherapyAssociation (APTA), Physical
therapists can provide valuable contributions to the transformation of the health care delivery
system by improving health care quality and outcomes through the prevention, treatment, and
management of impairments and health care needs of patients, (Health Care 2). Preventative
actions initiate restoration and achievement of a patient s functional ability, and decreases
dependency and impairments due to an illnessor disease. Preventing an illness from progressing at
a rapid rate, and educating the patient to better adapt to surroundings are also services provided.
Physical therapy prevention services can be categorized by being primary, secondary, or tertiary.
Primary prevention can be classified as a physical therapist recognizing potential risk factors in a
given population or age group, and providing therapeutic services to decrease the specific risk from
occurring. Simply put, it stops

Substance Abuse And Low Education
It is no doubt that the Appalachian region is discredited of its merits, despite the perceived
negative social problems associated with the area. What many outsiders of the area fail to
acknowledge is that many of the same problems of Appalachia plague other regions of the United
States as well. In Appalachia, there are many problems that can be associated with the area and
usually the people from the area are grouped into a poor environment a lower socioeconomic
class. Across the region there is a wide social problem on low education rates and relatively high
substance abuse statistics. What others also fail to see is that the Appalachian region has a
plethora of services to offer along with a rich heritage embedded in its people. The good people of
the community have worked together to overcome the past and current issues of substance abuse
and low education by forming different groups to offer for the public to take part in.
Substance abuse is heavily associated with the region of Appalachia. Appalachian people are
looked at negatively for being categorized with drug and alcohol addictions. The issue has
increased since coal mining and other industrial work places are declining in the area
(Sodomick, 2014). People resort to drug trade to make profit since the career field is declining in
the area. Because substance abuse has become so popular, overdose and countless deaths have
occurred more often as well. The past few years, it has been a horrific trouble with the

What Is Everything To Be Automated Essay
Everything to Be Automated
Free trade kills jobs. You hear it everywhere, but is this statement true? It s far from that. The real
job killer is automation. Just as the automobiles made horses obsolete, newer and better
technology will do the same to humans. But some argue this fact, saying we aren t horses .
They believe humans to be special snowflakes whose complexity machines can never match. Or
they say it will only be low paying jobs that machines take over. They are wrong. Whether you
have the intelligence that s on par with Einstein or artistic ability of Da Vinci, you can be
replaced. Nobody is irreplaceable. Sooner or later every job in the world is going be automated.
But why are robots a better alternative to humans? One of the ... Show more content on

Let s take Uber for example. The company was under heavy fire and even had their services shut
down in London because of the lack of background check on the drivers. As popular as their
accommodation is, many people don t trust Uber because of the drivers. They can t trust a
random stranger to drive them somewhere. However, if driverless vehicles were to provide
service like Uber, it would be much safer. Those who don t trust driverless cars will conclude that it
s safer than human drivers. An automated vehicle doesn t drink and drive. Doesn t text and
drive. Doesn t get distracted while driving. These driverless automobiles don t need to be
perfect. They simply need be better than humans and they already do that. Not only in
automobile, but in factories and other industries where humans can get hurt, it s better for
employers to replace them with robots. Robots breaking is far less of a worry than a person
getting injured. Our mistake prone bodies aren t as safe as the errorless machines. In
manufacturing, there are less human workers than there were forty years ago. You would think
that they would be less productive but amazingly, the productivity has gone up. This is all thanks
to better, faster and stronger technologies. These mechanical muscles never get tired, never take a
break, and work at a rate that is beyond what we are capable of. To emphasize my point further, let
s use cars as an illustration. Before, they used to be made humans and

The Purpose Of Music Video
THE PURPOSE OF MUSIC VIDEO The overview requirements: Promotional Extension
of income Extension of outlets (music channels, DVD and CD sales, website download)
Synergy Producers strategies (major label and independent) History Modern music
videos were initially made and used as a publicizing device intended to promote the sale of music
recordings. They are often called promos . In 1940, Walt Disney created Fantasia , an animated
film based around famous piece of classical music. The original music videos were shot in the
1950s. In 1956 Tony Bennett was shooting walking along The Serpentine in Hyde Park as his
song Stranger in Paradise played. This was dispersed to TV stations in the UK and US. The
Beatles first major motion picture A hard Day s Night in 1964 arguably set out the basic visual
vocabulary of today s music videos. Penny Lane in 1967 used methods derived from
underground and avant garde film to exemplify the song in an artful manner. 1970s In the UK
the significance of Top of the Pops to promote a single created an environment of revolution and
competition amongst bands and record labels as the show s producers placed strict limits on the
number of videos it would use, consequently a good video would increase a song s sales. Queen s
Bohemian Rhapsody also started a whole new age for using music videos as promos. 1980s 1981
MTV is launched. The first video to be aired was Buggles Video Killed the Radio Star . David

Golden Apples Research Paper
the golden apples as a part of the twelve labors. When the dragon died, the goddess, Hera, made a
picture in the sky around the North Pole to honor him. Unlike the Greeks, Romans believed Draco
was part of the Giant Titans who fought against the Olympians. During a battle with the goddess of
wisdom, Minerva, he was thrust into the sky by the North Pole. No matter which myth you believe,
both gave us the fierce constellation we have today.
Another constellation is Orion, which is also known as The Hunter in Latin. It is one of the
easiest constellations to find in the sky because many people spot Orion s belt in the sky. To
find the belt, you have to look for three bright stars in a line and to the left of the belt you can
find Orion s hunting dogs, Canis Minor and Canis Major. Also, you can look for the left side of
the hunter s shoulder, Bellatrix and the right side of his shoulder which is Betelgeuse; these will
help you locate where Orion is, since these stars are part of Orion. Another tip for finding Orion
is looking for its seven brightest stars, which is sort of in a form of an hourglass and is located on
the celestial equator. Orion is the most visible in the western sky and during the wintertime, so if

Betelgeuse is the second brightest star and rigel is the first. Although, Bellatrix Orion s left shoulder

Reflection on Reading
February 11, 2011
Looking Back In Order to Move Forward
As a future elementary school teacher, I have always thought the task of teaching kids could be a
rewarding and gratifying experience. However, I recently realized that in order to obtain these
rewarding experiences the teacher and students must work hard and with determination. Learning to
read can be a very daunting task for a youngster. Therefore, as a teacher, it is your job to facilitate
positive reading strategies from the start. Looking back at my experiences as an early reader, I can
gain some insight as to what might help or hinder my future students.
I believe that one of the most important things you can do for your child is ... Show more content on

I feel learning the phonics of letters through the rhythms of music truly helped me as I began to sit
down with my first readers.
As I began applying what I was learning in the songs to some basic basal readers like Dick and
Jane I was able to find patterns between the phonics in the songs and the words on the page. We
had books that were themed each week with certain phonic sounds. The sound was then repeated
throughout the book but in different words. We were able to take these books home and practice
with our parents. I think that practice and repetition are key in continuing to recognize letters with
their phonic sounds. I feel these books served the purpose of achieving good reading skills for me
as a child, and continue to be helpful to children today as they learn to read.
There are two other techniques that my teacher used to help teach us how to read. One I
consider to be a good strategy and the other I am not too fond of. The first approach was using a
tape recorder and head sets. We would sit down with a book and follow along with our finger as a
voice was reading the book to us in our ear. I think this particular approach works because it
releases the anxiety and stress of having to pick apart the words on a page in order to learn them.
By following along they are able to develop listening skills and hear the

Why Pro-Choice Is The Right Choice
Why Pro Choice is the Right Choice
With the evolving moral standards of society, abortions are becoming more and more justified.
Abortions, the practice of removing a fertilized egg from a mother, has become a controversial
issue in American society, but should be generally supported because women should have the
choice on how they choose their eggs to go on, whether it be to end further growth of the fetus or
not. Women have a right to control what happens in and with their body.
Being a pro choice defender means taking sympathies to this woman while she then gets called a
murderer by pro life supporters. Abortions sometimes results in the woman being harassed because
of the choice she has made about her own body. That s what pro life supports. ... Show more content

This young girl had been raped and was 25 weeks pregnant when she found out she was
pregnant. The father of the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, claims she became
pregnant in February after her doctor injected her with sedatives and then raped her. His petition
for her to be allowed an abortion after the 20 week legal limit was turned down by two regional
courts before the Supreme Court on Tuesday gave the go ahead if medics deemed there was a
serious threat to her life if the child is not aborted. M. M. Prabhakar, one of the doctors
appointed to the case, said that the girl was not in a fit state to have the baby and the procedure
would be carried out on Friday in Ahmedabad, which is the main city in western Gujarat state.
Prabhakar states The girl is not physically fit and her mental condition is also not stable. She was
found to have suicidal tendencies, as he told AFP. Therefore it has been decided to abort the fetus.
This case should have been taken care of as soon as brought to the attention of doctors ( Protect

relationships, unmarried, 11% Too young and/or immature, and 35% other.

  • 2. An Oppositional Defiant Disorder ( Developmental Manual... For one to understand Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) it is important to examine the criterion that place this disorder within the realm of Disruptive, Impulse Control, and Conduct Disorders. The American Psychiatric Association note in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (2013) that, [these] disorders include conditions involving problems in the self control of emotions and behaviors. [They] are unique in that these problems are manifested in behaviors that violate the rights of others and/or bring the individual into significant conflict with social norms and authority figures (p. 461). Vindictiveness: Has been spiteful or vindictive at least twice within the past 6 months. Criterion B: The disturbance in behavior as associated with distress in the individual or others in his immediate context, or impacts negatively on social, educational, occupational, or other important areas of functioning. Criterion C: The behaviors do not occur exclusively during the course of psychotic, substance use, depressive, or bipolar disorder. Also, the criteria are not met for disruptive mood dysregulation disorder (APA, 2013). Etiology and Course It is sometimes difficult to determine whether a child truly meets the criteria for having an ODD diagnosis because many of the behavioral qualifications are commonly seen among youth in early childhood and adolescence. If a child s behaviors consistently cause distress to the family system and have an effect on his or her social and educational functioning, further evaluation is appropriate. ODD has been linked to many other comorbid disorders, such as anxiety; depression; and, most commonly, attention deficit / hyperactivity disorder (Erford, Paul, Oncken Kress, 2014). Disruptive behavior is the most common mental health problem seen by pediatricians. Although attention deficit/ ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Nonviolent Protests We cannot turn on our televisions or get on social media without hearing about recent protests. Some peaceful and some violent, but what difference do the two make? We all have seen riots and we ve seen how they can end: a spray of rubber bullets, dogs digging their teeth into screaming people s legs, and the trashing of public places. We ve seen the sit ins and marches filled with people that have no fear in holding their signs high and proud. To some violence seems like the only answer, but the results are not as rewarding nor as long lasting. Although some may believe violence is the only answer they are turning a blind eye because nonviolent protests are more successful, get more government support, and gather more civilians around the cause. To begin with, the common misconception is that you can t be heard on your issue unless you re being violent. People get to the point where they feel so oppressed they feel the need to not just use their voices but their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Often violence leaves a bad taste in a politician s mouth as they don t want to be a part of a possible blood bath that could backfire on their careers. For example, a study done by Omar Wasow of Princeton University showed the effects in voting polls after violent civil rights protests in the 1960s, and found that the support for law and order was so high that many citizens voted for republican leaders in hopes that in the future outbursts like that could be controlled. Those leaders used those protests to their advantage by saying violence would not be tolerated, and they can gain just as much by standing by a peaceful protest. Some minorities feel as if congress is not doing an exceptional job on how their immigration policy runs. The Immigration policies between the United States of America and South Africa are incredibly similar; it seems as if both countries are not considering minorities to be important in another country. Even though they don t highly appreciate minorities, they both have an elevated focus for defense of security and health. In recent years, ethics and social responsibility have been playing an important role in the business world including in oil and mining industries. The pressure towards society and ethical conducts are higher than ever. Although every oil and mining multinational corporations economic missions are acknowledged, it is now their responsibility also to address public concerns. Oil and mining industries are known as the subject of scrutiny and bad press related with ethics and CSR concerns (Lins Horwitz, 2007). The interest on CSR and ethics are always fore fronted to the mining and oil corporations (Kapelus, 2009). The idea was developed since a long time ago, where multinational corporations are demanded to provide community development packages and assistance to their host communities (Amaewhule, 1997). • 6. Freedom Of Speech And Freedom Of Speech One of the most complex things in establishing in a government is determining how much freedom the citizens in a society has. Throughout history we have seen many different type of governments that include North Koreas dictatorship to the United States that has a government based on principles of democracy. In societies that have democratic governments such as the United States, England, France, and many other western European countries, the citizens have a high degree of freedom of speech. In addition, these people are allowed to have a high degree of freedom of thought. Although these are both very important to have in life because they allow you to express who you truly are, there is a difference between freedom of speech and freedom of thought. While there is a difference between freedom of speech and freedom of thought, English Philosopher John Stuart Millprovides his opinion on the importance of freedom of speech and freedom of thought in his book On Liberty. Whether you are a person who is wealthy or poor, highly educated or not educated at all, or even a minority, every person in a democratic society such as the United States is granted the right of freedom speech. Other countries throughout Western Europe grant the right of freedom of speech to their citizens. However, the right of freedom of speech is granted by the United States constitution which was written during the eighteenth century. • 8. Reality Boy Theme Through the beginning to the middle of November, I read the book Reality Boy by A.S. King. Reality Boy is about Gerald Faust, a kid in highschool who had his whole childhood screwed up because he was on reality TV. His mom thought he was retarded, his sister constantly beats him up, and the whole world laughed in amusement as they watched him take craps everywhere. The book was interesting because he started out as a kid known as The Crapper and he was able to turn his life around for the better. The theme of this novel is that even though you have experienced awful things in your life and has been screwed inside and out, you can still overcome the obstacles that stand in your way of success. For example, on page 260, A.S. King writes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is a lot of adult themed topics throughout the book like sex, cursing, and many others. A young reader, for example, my sister who is eight years old, shouldn t be reading this because nobody wants an eight year old kid going around and yelling F*K THIS S**T! (King 104). I am pretty sure you get the picture with the other topics. I recommend that librarians should put a warning label or a parental advisory sign on it or something because this book should not be in our library and especially an elementary s library. Speaking of this book, I give it an 8 out of 10. It is interesting and funny at some points, but I just didn t like how his entire childhood was ruined because of his family. I really wish that there were less cursing in it because most of it is unnecessary. But, if this book was in a series, I would definitely read it. In conclusion, Reality Boy by A.S. Globalization denotes the process in which economic, financial, and technical transactions between different countries and communities throughout the world are becoming increasingly interconnected (Pearson). Yet in the beginning of the millennium, contemporary globalizationhas additionally taken more of a human form, as it has integrated and interconnected a collectivistic mass culture (Powerpoint). The gendered relations have consequently shaped the cultural and societal norms as result of the economic forms of globalization. As women are entering the work force, they have become more autonomous and are able to live [how they] want (Sengupta). What s more, the role of women in the family is changing because they have reduced domestic expectations. Many women are deferring marriages, while they make money, obtain higher levels of education, and live lives that most of their mothers could not have dreamed of. Additionally, in a highly communicative globalized world, there are new models of attainment with seeing women in roles of leadership, whether it is politically or economically, women may feel empowered to exercise their desire for high powers of leadership and to exercise femininity in such an emancipative way. This could result in increased political representation and participation in feminist movements by woman. On the other hand, as a result of the women being more financially independent, the transformation of the family is deviating from the patriarchal norm. This is visible as the men s role as an illusion breadwinner is being destroyed, as there is less pressure for them to be the only source of income for families. Furthermore, with both men or women being more mobile in their labour because of the international political ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some Organizations CXOs (CXO means the job titles starts with Chief and ends with Officer includes: CEO, CFO) still hold reservations about usage of social media for hiring and seem more comfortable with the more traditional methods like job portals, employee referrals, walk ins etc. However, with increased pressure on CHROs to keep a check on recruitment budgets, they are exploring more social media options and we will see a greater momentum in this area in World. Companies continue to use intranet portal for internal branding and do not seem very open to using publicly available social media websites. One out of every nine people in the world use Facebook, with an estimated 700 billion minutes being spent every month on this application, it is interesting to note that over 2.5 million organizations have a Facebook presence in addition to their corporate websites. An estimated 250 million people access social media sites through their mobile devices. The impact that social media has on the daily lives of people is beyond like on Facebook or re tweet on Twitter. • 12. Virginia Woolf s Of Human Bondage Of Human Bondage is, as we all know, written from Philip s point of view, and therefore we sympathize with Philip, care about what goes on his life, and even feel attached to him. But, if the story had been written from say, Mildred s point of view, we may not feet the same about Philip. Chances are, his characterization would be completely different because of how Mildred views him, and we would probably grow to dislike Philip as much as we learned to dislike Mildred. Many have heard the saying, history is written by the winners, meaning we more commonly sympathize with the winners because it is they who got to tell the story, and we learn to dislike the opposing side, the way we dislike the British of the Revolutionary, the way we dislike ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We would have been able to understand her thoughts about Philip, her odd distaste for him, how she genuinely felt about the German man she left Philip for. We may view Philip in a different light, as a weak, easily manipulated man, or as a man who didn t care, didn t understand her situation. While we would still, most likely, see the faults in Mildred, the way we did with Philip, we would probably think of them in a kinder way. After all, we all disliked Mildred when she left Philip, who clearly loved her, to be with the German man. Yet, is that not what Philip did do Nora, who really did love him? The two characters have many similarities, yet we view one as good, and one as bad. Both raised by people other than their parents, both concerned with money, both easily distracted, both in love just, not necessarily with each other. They both turned to others for money when they were struggling; Philip wishing his uncle would die, Mildred begging Philip for help. Neither of these characters are exactly good people, but they are seen as opposing forces of good versus evil. It is in this way that, through perspective, we choose who are the good people, and who are the bad. • 13. My Papa s Waltz The Father Son Connection One of the most powerful relationships someone ever forms is the connection that they have with their own father. Those Winter Sundays by Robert Hayden and My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke are both poems that brilliantly describe this powerful relationship between father and son. The feelings that the poets have toward the subject are found deep within the two poems often hidden behind how the character feels toward his own father. Even though these poems were published in different time periods, one feels the similarities and differences within the tone, form, or even the imagery of the poems. But when one is to look at the tone in those Winter Sundays they may find that it s very regretful. The adult narrator is remembering the admirable qualities of his dead father. The narrator refers to his father s with then with cracked hand that ached/in the weekday weather made/banked fires blaze. No one ever thanked him, which demonstrates that the child took the father and his actions for granted, and now, as an adult, the speaker is feeling remorse for it. The narrator copes with the loss of his father and his inability to tell the father that he appreciated the Sunday ritual by saying What did I know, what did I know/of love s austere and lonely offices. The few similarities of these poems lie in the idea behind the writing. Both Hayden and Roethke seem to have created a poem that is about the bond between father and son. Even more so, the poems both take the form of a memory of the speaker who is looking back to a time that they remember with their own father. The last major difference in these two poems is how the author uses imagery within the work. In Those Winter Sundays there is no expression of warmth within human activity. These images reflect the cold of the house, the cold of the father s hands, that ached and the cold in the boy s heart, speaking indifferently. On ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Summary Of The Charge Of The Light Brigade At Balaklava The Charge of the Light Brigade at Balaklava by Lord Alfred Tennyson is a poem about the historical battle that took place between British and Russia during the Crimean War. Tennyson wrote the poem as a remembrance of the heroism and bravery the British soldiers showed during the battle. The poem is well known for its repetitive rhythm that is used to portray the sound of the charge. The repetition used in the poem widely affects the rhythm, emotion, and story being told. Without it, the poem could not have nearly portrayed the strength of the battle as well as it did. This poem uses a technique known as falling rhythm. Falling rhythm is when the stress is on the first beat of the line, and then falls off for the remaining words. This can be deemed important because of the way it is a symbol for the fall of the British troops. Although the rhyme scheme changes throughout the poem, Tennyson uses very similar strategies within each stanza. He often rhymes the last word, and sometimes even uses the same final word for many line. For example, When can their glory fade! / Oh the wild charge they made! / All the world wondered. / Honor the charge they made! / Honor the Light Brigade, / Noble six hundred! Even though the stress is on the first beat, the last words of most of the lines rhyme, making the whole line seem strong and complete each time we read it. Notice how he uses the word made twice, and rhymes with that word 4 times. This helps the reader ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Student Justifications for Abusing Adderall What Are U of M Students Perceptions of Adderall? INTRODUCTION With the increased pressure to succeed and the chaotic collegiate lifestyle taking a toll on students, Adderall has evolved into the go to drug. The Class II prescription amphetamine is intended to solely treat individuals with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy. The stimulant works to enhance concentration by stimulating the production of dopamine and norepinephrine in the brain (Stolz 585). Recently, there has been a dramatic increase in the use of Adderall on college campuses to enhance academic performance and cram for exams through the over stimulation of the brain, therefore creating super enhanced focus (Stolz 585), deeming it the smart drug. Due to the fact that several students are not truly diagnosed with ADHD, a majority of this use on campuses is illegal; this has become a growing problem affecting the health of students and entailing issues of competiveness and fairness (Jacobs 1). In recent years, the abuse of Adderall has circulated hundreds of college campuses and even secondary schools. Unfortunately, students are being deceived by the stimulant drug s valuable qualities, masking the serious, detrimental effects that the drug induces. Even worse, contributing to Adderall s extensive abuse across campuses, instead of condemnation it is implicitly being praised and validated by parents and students who view these drugs as a means of academic ... He moves to a rich district in the state, where people tend to show off their wealth and social status. Nick s neighbor Gatsby does this especially, because he throws major parties every Saturday to display his riches. The real reason Gatsby does this is because he is attempting to gain the attention of Daisy whom Gatsby is in lovewith. Daisy, who is married to Tom who is wealthy himself, lives a comfortable life but in reality she is not happy. Gatsby, with the help of Nick, tries to win Daisy with his money instead of his heart. Fitzgerald utilizes his characters through the text the Great Gatsbyand using their perspective to demonstrate how the love of money brings people to believe that they re happy. In the Great Gatsby, we see characters such as Gatsby show off their riches to people, but the reason Gatsby does this is that he is trying to get Daisy s attention. Gatsby is doing this because the basis of why he could not marry Daisy was because he did not have much money. While talking with Nick about his previous encounters with Daisy, Gatsby states that the only reason he believes Daisy fell in love with another man was because Gatsby was poor. This man which Daisy married is Tom and from his perspective, we see how the love of money causes Daisy to make herself believe she has fallen in love with him. The young Peter would enter a ministry of Justice as a clerk in 1859 (Mason 1). Tchaikovsky stayed there four years despite the long journey to Western Europe and increasing involvement in music. In 1863 he entered the conservatory where he took private teachings and focused all his energy to his music and compositions. Three years later in 1866 he and his family had moved to Moscow with a professorship of harmony at a new conservatory. Even by this time very little of his music had pleased the conservative musical establishment or the more nationalist group. It was not until 1868 when his 1st Symphony had a good public reception when heard in Moscow. Not even a year later Tchaikovsky wrote his first opera the Voyevada. He later used this piece in his next opera the Oprichnik, which won some success at St. Petersburg in 1874. It was then that a critic named Balakirev requested that he write a work on Romeo and Juliet, which would later be known as the Fantasy Overture. This specific work was rewritten many times until it met the requirements of Balakirev. This romantic piece is a symphony where each theme stood for a character in the drama. It is these expressive themes that make his first works well defined. The symphony Romeo and Juliet is a love song in sonata form. It is a Fantasy Overture and not a symphonic poem, because Tchaikovsky makes no attempt to tell the story in order or in detail (Hanson 118). The piece opens with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Printing organs can help with advancements in many ways because it could help many of the people that are on the Organ Transplanting List, not to mention it could save countless lives as well. If organs are able to be printed and executed for procedures and transplants, then we could reduce hospital bills that increase during the time that you are waiting for an organ. Therefore, making a large advancement in the healthcare field. Organ printingcan be very difficult and must be executed very carefully considering that the body may reject the new organ. Three dimensional (3D) printing is a manufacturing method in which objects are made by fusing or depositing materials such as plastic, metal, ceramics, powders, liquids, or even living cells in layers to produce a 3D object (Ventola, October 2014). It is incredible to see how such materials can be used to be put together to make a living organism that can be used in a human s body. As a person ages this could be very useful because organs tend to fail and become weak when a person gets older they could potentially be used to replace the failing organs. Core Skills Self Reflective Essay Core Skills Self reflective Essay In this essay I will go through the most important skills that I acquired in the last few years in relation to the ones needed in the industry. In addition, I will also look at my weaknesses and what I can do to overcome them. Since I started my studies and up to this date, I have learned a lot about what is required to work in the Aviation industry. There is a wide range of skills required, although most of them apply to roles one can take on in the specific industry. In other words, some skills are more role specific. Reflecting on my skills, I believe I have excellent social, communication and language skills. These skills are essential in any customer facing or team work oriented job. As explained by Morgeson, F. P. et al. in Selecting individuals in team settings: The importance of social skills, personality characteristics, and teamwork knowledge. Factions (a group of people who agree on certain topics) are inevitable, due to the nature of man. By removing its causes Madison believes that liberty will be destroyed, or that by giving every citizen the same opinions, passions, and interests, would be impossible because people can never all be the same. Madison wanted the United States to be a republic, a form of democracy in which power is vested in representatives, so there will be a greater number of citizens represented and we will also be able to have more control over the factions effects. In today s society, we see many examples of James Madison s explicit view on American political culture. Everyone in America, from the time that they have been born, has been placed into factions. Newborns are put into daycare facilities based on their parent s income and parental beliefs. • 23. Unusual Tactics by the United States in the Pacific War The war in the Pacific was unlike any war the United States had fought up until that time. They couldn t use their normal ground attack tactics; they had to figure out how to win from above. Unlike in the European front they couldn t move through and allied country to forge a ground attack against their enemy. They needed to find a way to hit Japan from the air with the added difficulty of the mainland being across an ocean from the target. Before any attack could be launched the U.S. needed supplies in the form of long range bombers. These bombers were extremely important in the Pacific Theater, without them the U.S. wouldn t have beaten Japan. After the surprise Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941 it took the United States until April of 1942 to retaliate. That was done through the Doolittle Raid. A group of 16 B 25 launched from the USS Hornet to conduct the first bombing on Japanese soil. Despite not having very much of a military significance the raid of Tokyo was a great boost to the moral of military and the public of the United States. It showed both Japan and the U.S. that Japan wasn t out of reach and was no longer isolated in the Pacific. After the 1942 campaign it wasn t until 1944 when the U.S. launched another bombing attack on Japan. At the beginning the War in the Pacific had a slow start, much of that had to do with the preparation it took to attack the enemy in a new style of warfare. In stark contrast, MCM 41 and UVM 7 show much different magnetic properties after successful incorporation into the silica pores. Notably, the П‡MT term for both silicas is higher than expected for magnetically isolated Ni8 molecules (such as those in UVM 11) which supports the presence of repeating Ni8 units forming [Ni8]x aggregates. П‡MT also reaches a maximum at a range of 3 10 K, in contrast to the Tmax = 3 K of the SMM alone where Tmax generally increases with increasing loading amount. This behavior can be rationalized due to magnetic anisotropy and /or antiferromagnetic interactions between aggregates. A proposed mechanism consists of Ni8 SMMs filling the silica pores and consequent aggregation which is mediated by deprotonated silanol groups present on the pores (Fig. 4). In turn [Ni8]x aggregates, joined by Ni O Ni bonds interact in a ferromagnetic manner which allows for the Ni8 monomers to undergo magnetic exchange interactions. This mechanism holds up to a point, a 100% loading amount results in packing which imposes a steric strain on the filamentous [Ni8]x and pushes the Ni O Ni angle towards a higher value, prompting antiferromagnetic interactions leading to a decrease in magnetic susceptibility. AC magnetic measurements were used to verify the retention of SMMs characteristics within the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Whether we are athletes playing the sport, avid fans watching our teams and their statistics, or the coaches, it is our character to always be in tuned to what is going on in the competitive sports world. Now, our competitive nature can either give us an edge in life or, in opposition, can cause us to burn bridges. To elaborate, being competitive shows determination, hard work, and is a form of utilizing our gifted talents, resulting in positive outcomes; this is referring to anything in life, not just athletics. On the other hand, being competitive to the point that we are losing teammates, friends, and those close to us shows poor sportsmanship and can have a negative effect on character. Physical violenceis just one among the many different types of violence in today s athletic world. Some of the more common non physical abuses among both male and female athletes are substance abuse, eating disorders, and verbal abuse/emotional stress. Although these are not physical, they have the potential to eventually lead to physical violence and injuries. We all have heard numerous theories of steroid and substance abuse. Southern plantation owners also relied heavily on slave labor, which prevented more fluid labor markets from encouraging industrialization. These irreconcilable differences were part of the continual rift between the agrarian economy of the South and the rapidly growing industrial economy during the antebellum era. The industrialization of the North was part of a diversification of the economy, which slowly abandoned the tenets of slavery in the late 18th century and into the early 19th century. However, the South continued to support an increase in slave ownership that eventually became a large scale business in the agrarian labor markets. • 36. Health Disparities Of Prenatal Care One important health disparity is the lack of prenatal care amongst women in socially disadvantaged populations. These predominately include women of minorities, women who have a low income, and the location these women live in. This health disparity is important to address because research has shown that women who receive prenatal care are more likely to conceive babies of a healthy birth weight and have low infantmortality rates than those women who do not receive this prenatal care ( Putting Women s Health Disparities on the Map, 2009). Therefore, health disparities amongst women in need of prenatal care have lead to preventable infant mortalities amongst women in vulnerable populations. Three reasons why this health disparity is important to address include the following: health disparities in prenatal care lead to lack of access to prenatal care to women in vulnerable populations, there are increased adverse health outcomes for both the infant and mother, and there are excess medical expenses that could otherwise have been prevented. Because prematurity is the leading cause of newborn death in the United States ( Healthy Mothers and Healthy babies, 2013), finding and developing a solution will be extremely beneficial and needs to begin with addressing prenatal care. The first problem that needs to be addressed is simply the lack of access for women in vulnerable populations to prenatal care. This is a major problem because we see that the rate of women who ... Some people are not as brave as Tessie Hutchinson, Martin Niemoller, for example, had the chance to speak up against the Nazi, he had the chance to speak for what is right, instead he kept silent in First they came . It is hard standing up for what is right, especially when you do not know what the consequences are, whether you ll get hurt or teased or whether somebody else will. In detail, The Lottery is about standing up for what is right is not always the easiest path. For example, Some places have already quit lotteries Mrs. Adams said. Another quote that goes along with that is, Nothing but trouble in that, Old Man Warner said stoutly. Pack of young fools. (paragraph 33 34). The reason why this relates to the text because this is the time that Tessie Hutchinson could have stood up and told everyone that it is not right to have this lottery, instead she kept quiet because she knew it was not going to be easy standing up to the whole town and saying that what they are doing is not right. She could have stood up more than she did, instead she chose to wait until it was her who won the lottery. Another example to support the theme is, Tessie Hutchinson shouted to Mr. Summers, You didn t give him time enough to take any paper he wanted. I saw you. It wasn t fair! (paragraph 45), another quote that goes along with it is, Be a good sport Tessie, Mrs. Delacroix called, and Mrs. Graves said, All of us took the same chance. (paragraph 46). The reason why these two pieces of evidence supports the theme, standing up for what s right may not always be the easiest path, is by showing that Tessie does stand up. Maybe she is not standing up for the fact that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Change In Malcolm Gladwell s The Tipping Point Amber Anderson Joel Williams ENC1101/LEC/07 10/25/2017 Close Reading Malcolm Gladwell s The Tipping Point is radical because he talks about how the environment can change people behavior. The environment could have caused people to change for better or worst. For example: When people were placed in an environment of filth they are more violent and hectic causing the crime rate to increase. When you come from a bad neighborhood you are statistically more likely to be dangerous and belligerent. If you were to place people into a different environment, you can expect change (not saying it always work). Throughout the story Malcolm gives many examples of change. He starts off by talking about four young men who were on a New York train. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The change came from simply fixing the trains, not from wanting to change but from cleaning up the environment. Showing that they are more than what they see. Clean makes you feel better about yourself as for dirty makes you feel scum like. So why not act how you feel? It is events like what I stated above that helped the people to see that change can be just as simple as cleaning the train. Being in an environment filled with filth, stench, and nothingness in the air, can lead you to doing bad things. In the story four men were acting like they had something and when approached a man were then shot. If you dig deeper, you truly find out the four young men didn t have an easy life. They came from a horrible place. Somewhere less fortunate than they needed to be. That key setting caused them to react and see things more angrily and act out as such. Malcolm Gladwell writes: The encounter between Bernie Goetz and those four youths on the subway: Allen, Ramseur, Cabey, and Canty. At least two of them, according to some reports, appear to have been on drugs at the time of the incident. They all came from the Claremont Village housing project in one of the worst parts of the South Bronx. Cabey was, at the time, under indictment for armed robbery. Canty had a prior felony for possession of stolen property. Allen had been previously arrested for attempted assault. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis Of Primary Colors Essay Politics is a bloodsport, one big game of corruption, muckraking, prostitution, and defilement, which is played by the politicians, the media, and the seemingly innocent public that tends to forget that politicians are humans also, no better than the masses except for one thing, the ability to play the game. Primary Colors by Anonymous portrays this fraudulent game perfectly, exhibiting all of the dark aspects of a political campaign: from the vicious media in their pursuit of scandals, to the traitorousness of opposing candidates to destroy each other, all the way to the secretive sexual interactions taking place during the campaigning process. Yet in this vice corruptednovel, Anonymous also manages to let the human side of the tainted... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In all of his public appearances, Picker always seems to be speaking what is exactly on his mind just speaking the truth, and even when the reader discovers that he has been putting up a façade all along, the fact that Picker admits to his conflicts and problems only re emphasizes his nobleness. One of the most important components to a political campaign is the voter, for no political candidate can be elected without someone voting for them. The dedication of both candidates, Stanton and Picker, to their voters is another aspect that accentuates their nobleness. Stanton is remarkable in his devotion to the public; the ability to reach out and interact with the public and the power to help them is the reason why he loves politics. While campaigning it is the people that need him, like Danny Scanlon the crippled boy, the adult illiterates, or the unemployed in Portsmouth, that keep Stanton going, for they deserved a better country and that was what this election had to be about (144). There is a truth to Stanton s promises, similar to the way he doesn t forget people s names and the aspects of their personal lives, he also doesn t forget the promises he gives them in return for their support. For example, he remembers the promise that he made to Fat Willie about having him open a branch of his restaurant up in the capitol (214). The objectives include how to apply the concepts of political ecology to environmental concerns, analyze the link between social, cultural, geographic, cultural, political factors, and environmental change, as well as assess methodological approaches used for research in political ecology. In addition, this assignment will discuss how reserves and national parks have been socially constructed/produced to be protected areas. Following this discussion, the conversation will include an overview of how this construction of national parks and reserves may result in the property rights reconstructing the resource into a rival good. Moreover, I will provide a brief discussion on the relationship between social construction of nature and environmental change. In conclusion, I will briefly review case studies and frameworks that are related to the conservation of biodiversity. The ability to apply concepts of political ecology to environmental concerns enables one to understand why national parks and reserves have been socially constructed/produced. These protected areas are legally protected to ensure their conservation because of the presence of given environmental concerns. A prevention program can be described as an arrangement of activities that attempt to alter a situation from happening, reduce problems, or promote a certain outcome. Prevention programs are available throughout the world covering many different aspects present in today s issues. Physical therapy services have a direct connection to preventionprograms in that a therapist makes an effort to treat a condition in order for it to be avoided, reduced, or changed if at all possible whether it is an injury or infection. We had books that were themed each week with certain phonic sounds. The sound was then repeated throughout the book but in different words. We were able to take these books home and practice with our parents. I think that practice and repetition are key in continuing to recognize letters with their phonic sounds.
