Truck Preventative Maintenance Research Paper
Truck Preventative Maintenance
Diesel trucks are built tough They can run with incredible reliability for hundreds of thousands of
miles, but only if they are properly cared for. With all of their power and strength, diesel trucks can
demand quite the attention if they are not properly maintained.
An older TV commercial featured an auto mechanic that looked into the viewer s eyes and said, Pay
me now, or pay me later. He was trying to convey to the audience that you can pay him today to
maintain your car or you can pay him a large amount of money later for repairs. This is excellent
advice, even today. Truck preventative maintenance is a critical component to keeping costs down and
your truck running smoothly.

The Controversy Of Cloning And Genetic Engineering Essay
Introduction
God and Nature first made us what we are, and then out of our own created genius we make ourselves
what we want to be... Let the sky and God be our limit and Eternity our measurement Marcus Garvey
(1887 1940).
Cloning and genetically modifying humans is now more attainable than ever due to strides made by
science. With a relatively short history, cloning and genetic engineering have been a new concept for
many people in society with the first proof of cloning being dolly the sheep, the first successful clone
born by the somatic cell nuclear transfer procedure [1]. Cloning over the years has evolved and now
could be used to someday help people requiring organ transplants, recover from traumatic injuries and
aid infertile couples with its reproductive possibilities [4].
On the other hand, genetic engineering can also be a great benefit as through gene therapy, genetic
diseases can be prevented and quite possibly being wiped from existence. Another benefit of genetic
engineering is that it can also allow infertile couples to have a baby but to do this would require the
genetic information of a surrogate alongside the couple s genetic information [12]. This could result in
many complications which is why there is a great controversy on this matter. Although cloning is
known by a plethora of people, whereas the minority of the population knows of genetic engineering
which brings up the question, what is genetic engineering?
Simply put, genetic engineering is the

Negatives Of Chemotherapy
Cancer is one of the most destructive illnesses worldwide, affecting almost â…“ of all people.
Thankfully, treatments, like chemotherapy, have been developed to combat and reduce the prevalence
of this life threatening illness. Chemotherapy is the use of combined drugs to eliminate the aggressive
growth of cancerous cells. Chemotherapy can be used numerous ways, all working towards stopping
the growth of cancer cells. However, what is not accounted for are the societal factors resulting from
cancer and its treatment. Specifically, the societal economic ramifications of chemotherapy treatment.
As described, chemotherapy aims to prevent or slow the growth of cancerous cells. The complex
function of chemotherapy is directly related to cell division, or mitosis. To begin, the body s immune

can include: nausea, pain, hair loss, anemia, and infections. All these short term drawbacks of
chemotherapy are caused by the results of the chemotherapy drugs, hospital stays, and overall stress.
Chemotherapy can also cause some serious long term side effects on the patient both mentally and
physically. For example, chemotherapy can cause fertility problems in both women and men.
Additionally, chemotherapy can permanently affect the memory of patients. Chemotherapy drugs

The Challenges Of The Construction Industry
INTRODUCTION
Some of the challenges the construction industry faces are the lack of skills and needing to ensure that
there are available resources. The skills shortage in construction ranges from a shortage of bricklayers
to a shortage of quantity surveyor.
This shortage isn t just in the numbers available but also a shortage of those are skilled in their field,
meaning that most of the workers lack experiences. This will reduce the speed in which the industry
grows which then may affect the contribution that the industry has on the UK economy.
The resources available to the industry are depleting, which means that alternative methods of
construction need to be considered. One of the resources that the industry is exhausting in river ...

The report will include the different regulations that intermediate floors must meet, when compared to
an intermediate floor in a non domestic setting.
REVIEW
MARKET SECTOR AND APPLICATION
Sound transmission would be a driver for the need to use acoustic insulation on intermediate floors.
There are two types of sound, two sources. Airborne sound and Impact sound. Airborne sound is
vibrations generated from a source, like speech and loudspeakers, which is then transmitted through
the air. These vibrations cannot go through a floor. However, they do cause vibrations within them,
which cause the air on the other side of the floor to vibrate. It is these vibrations that cause the sound.
The way to reduce these vibrations is to increase the mass of the floor. Therefore, concrete has a better
sound resistance than timber.
Whereas impact sounds are sounds that are caused by something coming into contact with the floor.
Such as footsteps. The vibrations caused by impact sound can also cause some airborne sounds in
objects attached to or resting on the floor.
Sound can transmit through a floor in two way, directly or indirectly. Direct transmission is when the
floor transmits the sound from one side to another. Indirect transmission is when the sound uses other
elements attached to the floor. Concrete is generally good at limiting both direct and indirect noise.
Therefore,

Cultural Competency And Social Work Practice
The BusinessDictionary.com defines cultural competency as, A set of behaviors, policies, and attitudes
which form a system or agency which allows cross cultural groups to effectively work professionally
in situations. This includes human behaviors, languages, communications, actions, values, religious
beliefs, social groups, and ethic perceptions. Individuals are competent to function on their own and
within an organization where multi cultural situations will be present (2016).
Our communities are composed of various ethnicities which have led to the need to incorporate
cultural competency in state legislation, federal statutes and programs, private sector organization and
academic settings. The Indicators for the Achievement of the NASW Standards for Cultural
Competency in Social Work Practice is the manual that guides the social practice in attaining cultural
competency.
Since cultural competence includes attaining the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to enable
practitioners to provide effective care for diverse populations, reading and adhering to the Indicators
for the Achievement of the NASW Standards for Cultural Competency in Social Work Practice, will
allow me to incorporate the ten standards in my daily practice. The ten standards include; ethics and
values, self awareness, cross cultural knowledge, cross cultural skills, service delivery, empowerment

Personal Reflection Sample
I became a Guardian ad Litem (GAL) volunteer in May of 2015. As such, I had the opportunity to
observe the interview process of two potential adoptive families. The interview team consisted of
seven employees of the Catawba County Department of Social Services, which included social
workers, supervisors, and managers. A GAL program supervisor was also present, as well as a child
therapist. This experience left me with a deep respect for the careful and thorough evaluation
demonstrated by the interview team members. It is a tremendous responsibility to secure the best
permanent placement home for children in foster care. The interview team assessed the strengths and
needs of the children and the potential adoptive parents. Reflection on my ability to think critically
and evaluate information, while taking into account my personal values and biases, led me to the
conclusions that I have much more to learn.
I expect that the Social Work Research Methods I class will be challenging. My personal abilities will
be tested, stretched and improved. It will require hard work and perseverance. While I am determined

The Creation Of Fema And The Federal Emergency Management...
The Creation of FEMA started out as a beautiful theory. Before FEMA we had an Acts constructed to
make the situation better but FEMA was constructed to assistance the situations first hand so that the
American people were catered to at a quicker response and in a manner that was assessed for safety
situations. On April 1, 1979, President Jimmy Carter signed the executive order that created the
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). From day one, FEMA has remained committed to
protecting and serving the American people. That commitment to the people we serve and the belief in
our survivor centric mission will never change. This is stated on fema.gov; this shows that FEMA was
designed to be the leaders in effect for disasters that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Administration, The National Weather Service Community Preparedness Program, The Federal
Preparedness Agency of the General Services Administration, The Federal Disaster Assistance
Administrations activates from HUD, Civil defense responsibilities were also transferred to the new
agency from the Defense Department s Defense Civil Preparedness Agency. FEMA receiving the
power and leadership to direct other operations and creating them as one was a move to give the
people in need a service for whatever crisis that is affecting that said area. FEMA has a long history
from being created in 1979 and since then they have grown to be stronger with more power to do
things for an area such as Flint Michigan.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has had some downfalls within their missions

The Birth Control Pill: Providing Surprises In Life

Research Paper
Abstract The pharmaceutical field has overcome countless medical feats since the early times. While
the pill itself was considered a brand new invention, the idea of creating a birth control pill was not.
Since the old times primitive condoms were made from animal intestines and fish bladders. However,
it wasn t until after Margaret Sanger s multiple convictions and persistent attitude, that a judge ended
the Comstock era, providing Sanger with the opportunity to stress the importance of having birth

An example of this would be during world war one when the United States government tried to teach
their soldiers abstinence. However, this only resulted in U.S. troops obtaining condoms while abroad.
As a result, in 1918, condoms became legal again when the war ended.
Creation of the Birth Control Pill No one person created the product of the birth control pill. In fact,
many died before the process could be completed. To begin with, an Austrian physiology professor
named Ludwig Haberlandt demonstrated on mice that fertility could be prevented by feeding the mice
ovarian extracts. In 1920, a man named Otfried Otto Fellner gave steroids to various animals which
also prevented fertility. He created an extract called Infecundin which he never got the chance of
administering due to his early death. On the other hand, because of Austria s takeover due to Hitler s
reign in Germany, Fellner vanished never to be found again. The idea of steroid chemistry at the time
was a relatively new concept. During this time it took over 80 thousand sow ovaries to produce only
12 milligrams of estradiol, an estrogen found in ovaries. To produce 1 milligram of progesterone, it
toke the ovaries of 2500 pigs. It would not be until the early 1940s that Russell Marker discovers the
process to manufacture massive amounts of steroid hormones could be produced to lower the
consumer cost. Marker believed that the solution to this issue would be found in a

Humanity is Destined to be Maple
I. Introduction
A. First paragraph of introduction
1. Young Goodman Brown is a dark romantic short story written by Nathaniel Hawthorne originally
published in 1835.
2. Set in 17th century New England, Hawthorne utilizes this short story to convey his distaste for the
Salem Witch Trials and his great grandfather, John Hathorne s participation as a judge. In addition, he
demonstrates the Puritan idea that all humans are in a state of corruption until you have experienced a
conversion, only sanctioned by God to become part of the elite .
3. It begins in Salem, Massachusetts when young Goodman Brown leaves his wife, Faith, for an
errand in the forest. It is later revealed that this errand is an attempt to seek a conversion in the forest
with the Devil. While on the journey, he learns some disturbing things about his ancestors that they
too have walked the same walk in the forest with the Devil and not only his ancestors but people of
authority and people in the town. Realizing that Faith and himself are the only two not yet initiated, he
looks to heaven and the hell he was in vanishes, leaving him back in the forest not knowing whether it
was a dream or reality. He returns to Salem the next day with a belief that his Christian village and all
of humanity is perverted and so he died a bitter and distrustful man with no hope.

The Effects Of Domestic Violence On Domestic Abuse

2 December 2014
Stop The Abuse Underreported and underestimated, domestic abuse rips families apart every single
day. Domestic violence comes in mainly five different forms, physical, sexual, psychological,
emotional, and economic. This violence ruins families, demoralizes the victims, and the public
downplays the household terrorism that goes on every day. Generally thought of as taboo, the public
belittles and humorizes domestic abuse as a way to deal with it, that avoidance must come to an end.
The five forms of domestic violence are economic, emotional, physical, psychological and sexual. The
most commonly known physical violence occurs when a partner or parent inflicts injury such as
hitting, stabbing, and shoving. Physical violence also takes place when food or fluids, medical care
and other sources that maintain health get withheld. The most commonly recognized form of sexual
violence is rape, or non consensual sexual intercourse. Sexual and physical violence oftentimes both
wind up reported by the same victim. Some individuals actively engage in sexually abusive lifestyles,
bondage, dominance, sadism and masochism, or BDSM is a wildly growing underground culture in
America. It focuses on dehumanizing the submissive partner and empowering the dominant one.

lifestyle a veil and treating it like a glamorous relationship to be

The human rights ensure to make man free. With the various types of injustices that are going on in
todays society it has felt like the rights of a human being has been taken away. The various types of
injustices of our human rights are; racial discrimination, freedom of speech, right to life and security
of person. The government has shown us certain limitations to our human rights. For instance, Hillary
Clinton in the 2016 elections had the most popular vote, but that did not matter, what mattered was the
electoral vote making Donald trump win the election. Which is now causing protesting around the
world, due to people not have wanted Trump to win. Also, Trump wants to hire federal agents to be
imposing restrictions to those whom are undocumented and be sent out of the United States. For
example, if an undocumented person violates a minor incident, like driving with a broken taillight,
they can get sent out of the United States just for a minor violation which is morally wrong and this
issue is violating our human rights in a matter of racial discrimination, right to life and security of
people because those who are undocumented can not even drive without feeling afraid to get stopped
by federal agents. For this reason, every human has the right to say what they desire to say in this

Bananas, Chiquita, and Globalization
Bananas, Chiquita and Globalization
While globalization is a relatively new phenomenon in theory, but not necessarily in history, as of
2009 it has created transnational corporations linked to government, international economic
institutions, and non government organizations. (Steger 67). With this definition bananas are a
textbook example of the globalization of tropical fruit commodities. The transnational corporations of
the United States, most notably Chiquita, Dole and Del Monte, have been linked to the governments
of Latin and South America, the World Trade Organization, and the organic fruit movement. By
tracing the path from banana plantations to supermarket it becomes clear how the morals of capitalism
have permeated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is at this first stage of production at the plantation where the most exploitation of workers takes
place. As an article about workers rights in Ecuador says, people are not seen as being as important as
the final product (Astorga 2). Because a lot of banana exporting countries have monoculture
economies, most of the countries depend on jobs and income from banana producers. Most of these
jobs are contracts too resulting in only temporary work. Not surprisingly, 10 cents of every dollar
spent on Chiquita bananas stays in the production process (Wiley 71). Banana workers are notorious
for being paid dismal wages; it should be no surprise that profits benefit the powerfully rich fruit
companies not plantation workers. Ecuador , in particular, is known for paying the lowest wages
because there are few unions. The average daily wage in Ecuador is $2 in contrast to $9 in Costa Rica
(STITCH), allowing Ecuador to sell boxes of bananas for cheaper. With no unions, Chiquita does not
pay health insurance, overtime pay or money for education. For most banana workers the threat of
being fired triumphs the promises of unions, simply because Chiquita would not be profitable without
cheap labor. For banana workers they must work under strenuous working conditions, often working
twelve hour days, carrying heavy bunches of bananas cut from the banana trunk.

Radon Essay
Radon
Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive element that can be found in soil, underground water, and
outdoor air. Some of the properties of this gas include being odorless, tasteless, and colorless. The
concentrations vary throughout the country depending on the types of rocks that are found in the soil.
Exposure over prolonged periods of time to radon decay products has been associated with an
increased risk of lung cancer.(3) The EPA describes an elevated concentration as being at or above
their suggested guidelines of 4pCi/l
(pico Curies per liter, used as a radiation unit of measure for radon).
Exposures below this level may create a risk of lung cancer, farther reductions to lower levels may be
too difficult ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Uranium and its by products of decay, namely radon are abundant and are constantly being generated.
(13) Radon is capable of easily traveling through rocks and soil.(14) The gas is also found dissolved in
water, due to decay in the soil or rock below.(15)
Radon in Water
The risk from radon in water is much lower than the risk from radon in air. This is because the water
must be heated or agitated to release the gas.
This can happen in a shower, boiling water on a stove, or by using a washing machine. Most public
water supplies don t present a radon risk, this is because the water is aerated at the treatment site and
the gas escapes into the atmosphere. Most water that contains hazardous amounts of radon comes
from wells. Wells should be tested for radon if the building that they are supplying contains hazardous
amounts in the air. The testing procedures for water are different from those used on air.(16)
Water containing radon can usually be treated. The most effective treatment is to remove radon from
the water before it enters the home, this is called point of entry treatment. Water can also be treated at
the tap, this is known as point of use treatment. However this treatment is much less effective at
removing the risk.(17)
Radon Entry
Radon travels through the ground and into the air, allowing the gas to easily enter buildings and
homes.

The Country Of Moldova And The European Union
Until recently, the country of Moldova did not even exist to my knowledge. I had never heard its
name, did not know where it was located, and I obviously had no idea about the extremely complex
and serious ongoing issue with their government system. Moldova is one of the poorest countries in all
of Europe and has been tossed around between Russian and Romanian control since the 16th century.
It only officially declared its sovereignty from its last owner, Russia, in 1990, its independence in
1991, and became a part of the United Nations in 1992. Even though it finally gained its
independence, Moldova just cannot win for losing. It seems no matter what political decisions they

this corruption occurring in the Moldovan government and is questioning Moldova s ability to be a
part of the EU. I chose to research this issue because the current corruption of the Moldovan
government and its impact on its people, is going to play a major role in the future of Moldova as a
country. How these events are influencing the opinions of the people will ultimately determine the
structure of Moldova s government, and this is a big deal for this struggling country. I personally do
not have an opinion yet about this issue as I am not adequately informed about the pros and cons of
the two political parties in conflict, but I hope to be able to better understand the two sides of this issue
and possibly develop my own opinion on the issue of Moldova s future government. Moldova s people
are faced between the choices of Socialist Russia, who is impressing on them with economical threats,
or continuing down the path towards the EU, which as their government appears to be bathed with
corrupted politics and politicians, is proving to be more of an obstacle than once imagined. Of which
is the lesser of two evils for this poor, literally and figuratively, European country?

works have more differences than similarities, both emphasize the processes of their creation and are
major movements away from the classical tradition of sculpture. However, The Walking Man and
T.E.U.C.L.A. also differ in several aspects that reflect their respective artists personal portrayals of
modern sculpture. These aspects include: mode of production, composition and the arrangement of

organization work together to convey meaning in both of these works. Rodin s deliberate rejection of
refinement and disregard for the direct translation of the unformed to formed in The Walking Man

Intimate Partner Violence Analysis
The fifth and sixth themes go hand in hand and deal with the woman being fed up with their
circumstances and other stressors. The fifth commonality was that many of the women did not become
perpetrators of intimate partner violence until after the birth of their first child. (Seamans, et al., 2007)
Of the women who reported this occurrence, they reported that the stress of being a new parent
coupled with being a victim of intimate partner violence became too much for them. The sixth
commonality was based on asking for help, but not getting it. Many of the women in the study
reported asking their families, their partner s family, as well as authorities for help. (Seamans, et al.,

The reason for this has already been discussed. The question many people have now is what to do
about traditional treatment s ineffectiveness. Studies show that Behavioral Couples Therapy is

there is a caveat to implementing Behavioral Couples Therapy for intimate partner violence.
That is that the couple must also seek treatment for their substance abuse in order to maintain the
reduction in intimate partner violence within the relationship. (Stith, et al., 2012) Altunes Alves and
De Stefano warn that couples therapy should only occur when it will not do more harm to one of the

A.M. (Andy) Guarriello, Vice President COO of Power Systems, was given the job of implementing
TQM. Guarriello along with Power Systems management team launched the Dallas Vision project, an
initiative involving physical, organizational, and philosophical changes that soon led to the adoption
of Total Quality Management as the management system for the future. Power Systems consolidated
several of its locations into several small internal business units. These units would become to
foundation that Power Systems operated on. Each units is given the resources to develop, engineer,
manufacture, and its products. Functions such as human resources, finance, marketing, and sales are
provided by smaller organizations developed to support the internal units. Power Systems Dallas unit
was completely redesigned. This 900,000 square foot facility was rearranged into what AT T calls
focused factories. Each focused factory has the capability to accept incoming material, manufacture,
and ship finished products. This layout was designed much within the guidelines of the Japanese JIT
system. Power Systems took the Japanese approach to TQM and modified to fit the AT T culture. The
TQM criteria developed within Power Systems were selected to ensure the company s ongoing focus

Battle Of Iwo Jima
The Battle of Iwo Jima started February 19, 1945 and ended in late March. It was a battle fought
between right around 70,000 U.S. soldiers and about 20,000 Japanese soldiers. Three divisions of U.S.
Marines invaded the island with one goal, to capture the Japanese airfields. This battle was a huge
turning point in World War II and helped end the war. The battle of Iwo Jima happened because the
location of the island was tactically important. Iwo Jima was close enough to the main island of Japan
that the U.S. could send fighter jets with bombers to bomb the main island. There were three airfields
which could be used for emergency landing bases during the bombing runs. Taking over the airfields
would also help stop the Japanese fighter jets shooting down B 29s during bombing runs. Before the
battle started, commanding general, Holland M. Smith told his men This will be the bloodiest fight in

The U.S. suffered more casualties, but more Japanese troops died. There were approximately 6,800
U.S. troops dead and approximately 17,000 wounded. All except about 1,000 Japanese troops died in
battle and the rest were taken prisoner. This showed the U.S. just how willing the Japanese were to
give their lives to defend their country. Since Iwo Jima was much closer to the other islands of Japan
than the Marianas, the B 29 bombers were able to carry more bombs. Thus inflicting more damage to
the Japanese military. The capture of Iwo Jima proved to be a turning point in the war. The U.S. Air
Force could now send fighter jets to escort the bombers and the Japanese lost a landing post. The
American bombers were also able to bomb any of the islands that made up Japan and the bombers
could carry more bombs. In the end the bombers were capable of inflicting even more devastating
bombing campaigns and have a closer landing post than the Marianas. The conquering of Iwo Jima is

Community, Identity, And Stability
Community, Identity, and Stability is a large element of a functional society. The choice between
feelings and emotional attachments both have pros and cons, both work but may have backfires as
well. Sacrificing emotional attachments will not be a beneficial sacrifice because everybody would be
limited and restricted power, and nobody will be able to think for themselves or have any likes or
dislikes. If they would sacrifice emotion nobody would be able to advance in the society, where
normally one´s interest bring more knowledge to share to others. When all sense of feelings are taken
away it will be easy for one person to take advantage of others if given the opportunity. These points
make a strong edge with evidence to make a perfect argument.

The Ethics Of Eating Meat
Since the time of caveman to the modern day society, humans have always eaten meat as a part of
daily life, As far back as it can be traced...Our ancestry is among the hunter/gatherers from the
beginning. Once domestication of food sources began, it included both animals and plants (McArdle).
Although these modern times that we live in have created new substances and ways to replace the
natural way to eat meat, people will always have reason to go back to the original way to get the basic
nutrition of meat. Human beings should support the basic idea that eating meat is ethical because
human bodies were created to be omnivore, people have evolved to manipulate animals in an
intelligent manner, and there are several alternative and ethical ways of eating meat.
The traits that the human body consist of are meant for more natural foods to be ingested, which are
both both meats and vegetables, making humans omnivores. The teeth and digestive tract that
individuals were provided with are meant to break down animal and plant based foods to provide
nutrients to the rest of the body to keep it running (McArdle). People were meant to eat meat in the
first place, it cannot be considered unethical, because it is a part of the natural way of life. For
example, when a lion hunts its prey to provide dinner for its cub and mate, it is not considered
unethical, it is a part of the lion s daily life. The lion going after the prey as a source of food is its way
of survival, and is not

The Lavender Scare first started in 1953 during Eisenhower s presidency when the Red Scare was
being put into action by Senator McCarthy. During this time McCarthy accused the LGBT community
that worked in government positions of being more of threat to the American government than
possible communist spies. Senator McCarthy said that gay males and lesbians could be easily

Abstract The paper examines various scholarly works that explore the causes of religious violence. It
addresses questions such as: what elements of religion contribute to violence and protracted conflict;
how does religious identity motivate groups engaged in aggressive behavior; other than threat to and

Object analysis is the process through which we can evaluate the function of an object, and evaluate
the features including the benefits and disadvantages of that object. Furthermore, some objects are of
high importance for us as they help us to spend our lives with ease and comfort. As I am studying in
the US, the major problem I faced after my admission is the communication problem. I use this
language because it is my second language and I find it really hard to communicate effectively with
my teachers and the friends whom I am living with. This is not only a problem in my academic life,

Technological Experience in Electronics
I have experienced and learned many things about electronics since I was 12. My father taught me
many things about electronic devices. When I was young, before the age of 12, I enjoyed observing
my father as he worked on damaged electronic devices. As I got older, my curiosity became immense
and I started to ask many questions. At first, I got to unscrew the object with screwdrivers. In the
article How to Use a Screwdriver by an eHow contributor instructed that rotating the screwdriver
clockwise would insert the screw. If you rotate the screwdriver counter clockwise it would remove the
screw. I still remember how to insert and remove a screw with a screwdriver until this day. Then my
father would eventually explain the components of the devices and how to distinguish similar or
relatively alike components. Some simple examples are capacitors, which are shaped differently
according to their functionality. The Basic Electronics Tutorials explained the Capacitor, sometimes
referred to as a Condenser, is a simple passive device that is used to store electricity . There are many
types of capacitors on a circuit board which can be distinguished by sizes or its relative area that s on
the board. There are electrolytic, film, dielectric and ceramic capacitor. Most electronics use
electrolytic capacitors. Capacitors are usually wrapped with a plastic label. When a capacitor

Operation Of Operation Eagle Claw
Many American hostage lives were on the line with just one military operation to save and bring them

America. Operation Eagle Claw was a mission to end the hostage crisis in Iran which was in a
political upraise against the United States. The planning of Operation Eagle Claw was too complex
and planners over looked the military aviation doctrine to hastily get the hostages to safety. Operation
Eagle Claw s failure was due to prolonged American evacuation from Iran which led to a hasty
complex plan that did not keep aviation doctrine in consideration which helped us learn how we need

Greasy Lake Essay
In the short story Greasy Lake written by T.C. Boyle, the story is about three friends who believe they
are bad . On a particular night they go out looking for trouble, and trouble is what they find. The tone
of this story is serious, dark, and very graphic. This story is full of literary devices. Metaphors and
similes come thick and fast on the shores of Greasy Lake, and Boyle never contents himself with one
when he can offer two or three. The comparisons for their abundance, are neither aimless nor without
purpose; they enable us to see the referent from strategic points of view. For this essay I will analyze

The use of body cameras as a resource in the law enforcement field has been adopted by agencies all

cameras have advantages and disadvantages that continue to be debated if it is a viable option for the

agencies and I feel that they will not be going away unless a new technology replaces the system in
place. The new technology in the criminal justice field that could be adopted by law enforcement
agencies is the way for officers to run facial recognition on individuals on their patrol. This facial
recognition could be developed in a variety of ways from running software in the car on people who
pass the vehicle. Another way that this software could be implemented is through the use of goggles or
glasses much like an augmented reality headset. This can create a realtime way for officers to identify
individuals to see if the have a BOLO or have an outstanding warrant. Facial recognition would have
to take great leaps to make it a practical way for officers to identify suspects. This software could be
used on a lower scale and officers could use a camera to run the persons face through a variety of
databases to identify an individual who may be lying about their name. This would both be a time

Personal Responsibility For Ma s Success Essay
A number of factors contributed to Ma s success. It may be useful to start with some of the key
business principles he has vocalized and to refer to his background from there. His first principle
relates to his own personal responsibility for the consequences associated with his business decisions.
He has noted somewhat dramatically that if anyone has to go to jail as a result of following his
direction, he should be the first to go. He also stated during his IPO in New York that if shareholders
were unhappy, he would be willing to buy the company back from them. It is not clear whether this is
a realistic suggestion, but the sentiment is certainly rare. This sense of personal responsibility often
derives from starting in a position where one intimately knows all of his colleagues. This was the case
when Alibaba began.
Another of Ma s core principles has been to maintain a sense of direction. As the CEO is responsible
for setting the mission and the aim of a company, this job also entails expressing this to leading
management the company as a whole as well as setting in place the process to execute it. Looking
back, Ma has been instrumental in the company s continual innovation, acquisition and expansion.
This progress is reminiscent of clear task oriented goals.
Ma is careful to remind business leaders that a sense of modesty is helpful to the learning process. He
claimed he is always happy when he has a student who knows something he does not. This
willingness to learn

The Song This Jesus Must Die
Musicals are a living form of art. A musical combines dance, dialogue, characters, music, costumes
and vocals in order to represent a moral issue. Some appear at the forefront of the plot while others are
presented alongside the storyline. A fitting example of a musical, is Jesus Christ Superstar composed
by Andrew Lloyd Webber. This musical is perfect as it is entirely sung, has amazing rock music and
has themes and moral issues carefully intertwine throughout the plot. However, the largest moral issue
or dilemma is how popularity can negatively and positively affect the main character Jesus.
The song This Jesus must Die is an excellent example of the negative side of popularity, as it shows
the Romans planning to kill Jesus before he surpasses them in power. The song begins with a
moderate tempo of 72bpm in a time signature of 4/4. However, the use of semibreves and the organ
slows the perceived tempo, giving the score a ghostly and ominous feel (seen in bars 1 13 and figure 1
and 2). This ominous feel is throughout these bars, as it represents the tension between Jesus s power
and the Roman authority. This also clearly sets up the roman s character, as a dominating evil force.

Narrative Elements Of Horror
Almost every genre of film to date has been designed and developed to make an audience feel
satisfied or sexed up and in love or delighted or inspired or rushed with adrenaline. Horror, on the
other hand, was the first genre that preyed on the audience s deepest fears and utilized them to provide
cinema with nightmare flair. And everybody loved it.
The idea of this essay is to address the nightmarish absurdity that horror is so well known for. I will
consider the development of the genre, as well as explore the stylistic, thematic and narrative elements
of the genre; including discourse on the visuals, the symbolisms and the subject matter in addition to
any impact the genre had on the audience, and address what role said impact had in defining ... Show

The term body horror was first coined in 1986 in an issue of the film magazine Screen. The films of
this subgenre concentrate on the human body and the horror of estrangement from within. Defined,
body horror is:
Such destruction or generation of the human body can be as a result of anything from alien life forces
to genetic mutations, viruses, diseases etc. Much of this subgenre was to do with society s body
anxiety and body consciousness and also explores identity and humanity. (Class notes: Body Horror)
Though these films address such valid points, they also strive to create a swelling unease in the viewer
and an awkward discomfort the viewer s body. The intent is to provoke sickness, revulsion, and
abhorrence in the audience.
Eraserhead, without a doubt, succeeds in achieving all of the above. This film is such a significant,
sweeping example of the far reaching horror genre. Expressionism s influence on this genre is so
captivatingly portrayed in the film, to the extent that many of the shots, throughout the entire film,
look just like works of German Expressionist art.

Refugee Blues By W. H. Auden
Born in England on February 21st, 1907, W. H. Auden was an English poet who wrote many poems
based on his personal experiences. In 1928, Auden left Britain and headed to Berlin for nine months.
During that period of time, he witnessed the rise of the Nazi party and the racial prejudice towards the
Jews. This, as well as the failure of the Evian Conference and Kristallnacht (night of broken glass),
influenced him to write the poem Refugee Blues in 1939, which was prior to the breakout of World
War II. Refugee Blues is considered to be timeless, and can be applied to anyone anytime, even with
the current relations between Europe and the Middle East. Throughout the poem, Auden uses a

Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening Analysis
In the modern day world there is an ongoing argument whether love is good or bad in nature. Stopping
by Woods on a Snowy Evening is a simple poem that was not originally written to create an
underlying message of love, but due to the popularity of Robert Frost s work it has and still is being
critiqued comprehensively. This paper will prove that Robert Frost is not referring to loving another
person in particular but the narrator s peaceful surroundings in the woods. Although, the literary
techniques used in Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening create a peaceful environment for the
reader, the stop in the wilderness creates a dilemma with the narrator s state of mind.
Having considered the case of love the narrator is feeling, it is evident of what is being adored in this
poem. The title alone alerts the reader of the place, setting and the basic theme of the story. The woods
seem to exhibit a calmness and tranquility that encourages the protagonist to stop his journey and rest
and in reality, the wilderness represents madness and darkness in the world. Frost opens the first
stanza with the self conscious narrator thinking to himself, Whose woods these are I think I know. His
house is in the village though (1 2). The man s insecurity naturally causes him to be uneasy but the
solitude in the woods creates the affection that awes him. Since this story is told from the narrator s
point of view, the reader can now infer that the protagonist is not thinking clearly due to

The Effectiveness Of Abstinence Only Sex Education
Everyone has their own way of raising children. This sometimes causes problems while deciding on
what children should learn in school. A child s upbringing is vital in determining what they will grow

well. In today s age there are a lot of things that parents cannot shield their child from seeing that used
to be easy to hide. So much can be easily accessed through the touch of a finger. Which is why
children need more education on what is happening in the world now. Schools are the safest place to

Memi And Sambu Essay
Sculptures have been a part of human cultures for many centuries. They have been depictions of gods,
tell stories, honor spirits, and celebrations. Today many sculptures have helped tell the way of life and
history of prehistoric times. Sculptures can be described as the art of carving, modeling, welding, or
otherwise producing figurative or abstract works of art in three dimensions, as in relief, intaglio, or in
the round. (Dictionary.com, 2017)Two ancient sculptures include the Statue of Memi and Sabu and
Seated Statue of Gudea, which have unique physiognomies.
Statue of Memi and Sabu is an Egyptian sculpture, or probably from Memphite Region, Giza, Western
Cemetery, which dates back to the Old Kingdom, Dynasty 4, ca. 2575 2465 B.C. It is a painted
limestone statue, which evokes the closeness of Memi and his companion, Sabu, a non royal couple in
a standing position. On the base of the statue, one would see that it does include inscripted lettering
(The Met s Heilbrunn Timeline of Art History, 2017) It could be interpreted that Memi and Sabu are a
possible couple based on the intimate hug and his left hand on Sabu left breast. A non intimate couple
would not engage in such a dear embrace. The sculpture is reactively small, according to Metropolitan

Let the sky and God be our limit and Eternity our measurement Marcus Garvey (1887 1940). Cloning and genetically modifying humans is now more attainable than ever due to strides made by science. With a relatively short history, cloning and genetic engineering have been a new concept for many people in society with the first proof of cloning being dolly the sheep, the first successful clone born by the somatic cell nuclear transfer procedure [1]. Cloning over the years has evolved and now could be used to someday help people requiring organ transplants, recover from traumatic injuries and aid infertile couples with its reproductive possibilities [4]. On the other hand, genetic engineering can also be a great benefit as through gene therapy, genetic diseases can be prevented and quite possibly being wiped from existence. Another benefit of genetic engineering is that it can also allow infertile couples to have a baby but to do this would require the genetic information of a surrogate alongside the couple s genetic information [12]. This could result in many complications which is why there is a great controversy on this matter. Although cloning is known by a plethora of people, whereas the minority of the population knows of genetic engineering which brings up the question, what is genetic engineering? The skills shortage in construction ranges from a shortage of bricklayers to a shortage of quantity surveyor. This shortage isn t just in the numbers available but also a shortage of those are skilled in their field, meaning that most of the workers lack experiences. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The report will include the different regulations that intermediate floors must meet, when compared to an intermediate floor in a non domestic setting. REVIEW MARKET SECTOR AND APPLICATION Sound transmission would be a driver for the need to use acoustic insulation on intermediate floors. There are two types of sound, two sources. Airborne sound and Impact sound. Airborne sound is vibrations generated from a source, like speech and loudspeakers, which is then transmitted through the air. These vibrations cannot go through a floor. However, they do cause vibrations within them, which cause the air on the other side of the floor to vibrate. It is these vibrations that cause the sound. The way to reduce these vibrations is to increase the mass of the floor. Therefore, concrete has a better sound resistance than timber. Whereas impact sounds are sounds that are caused by something coming into contact with the floor. Such as footsteps. The vibrations caused by impact sound can also cause some airborne sounds in objects attached to or resting on the floor. Sound can transmit through a floor in two way, directly or indirectly. • 7. Personal Reflection Sample I became a Guardian ad Litem (GAL) volunteer in May of 2015. As such, I had the opportunity to observe the interview process of two potential adoptive families. The interview team consisted of seven employees of the Catawba County Department of Social Services, which included social workers, supervisors, and managers. A GAL program supervisor was also present, as well as a child therapist. This experience left me with a deep respect for the careful and thorough evaluation demonstrated by the interview team members. It is a tremendous responsibility to secure the best permanent placement home for children in foster care. The interview team assessed the strengths and needs of the children and the potential adoptive parents. Reflection on my ability to think critically and evaluate information, while taking into account my personal values and biases, led me to the conclusions that I have much more to learn. Creation of the Birth Control Pill No one person created the product of the birth control pill. In fact, many died before the process could be completed. To begin with, an Austrian physiology professor named Ludwig Haberlandt demonstrated on mice that fertility could be prevented by feeding the mice ovarian extracts. In 1920, a man named Otfried Otto Fellner gave steroids to various animals which also prevented fertility. He created an extract called Infecundin which he never got the chance of administering due to his early death. On the other hand, because of Austria s takeover due to Hitler s reign in Germany, Fellner vanished never to be found again. The idea of steroid chemistry at the time was a relatively new concept. During this time it took over 80 thousand sow ovaries to produce only 12 milligrams of estradiol, an estrogen found in ovaries. To produce 1 milligram of progesterone, it toke the ovaries of 2500 pigs. It would not be until the early 1940s that Russell Marker discovers the process to manufacture massive amounts of steroid hormones could be produced to lower the consumer cost. • 10. Analysis Of The Book Young Goodman Brown Essay Michael Sprute AP English Mrs. Berry 4 October 2016 Humanity is Destined to be Maple I. Introduction A. First paragraph of introduction 1. Young Goodman Brown is a dark romantic short story written by Nathaniel Hawthorne originally published in 1835. 2. Set in 17th century New England, Hawthorne utilizes this short story to convey his distaste for the Salem Witch Trials and his great grandfather, John Hathorne s participation as a judge. In addition, he demonstrates the Puritan idea that all humans are in a state of corruption until you have experienced a conversion, only sanctioned by God to become part of the elite . 3. It begins in Salem, Massachusetts when young Goodman Brown leaves his wife, Faith, for an errand in the forest. It is later revealed that this errand is an attempt to seek a conversion in the forest with the Devil. While on the journey, he learns some disturbing things about his ancestors that they too have walked the same walk in the forest with the Devil and not only his ancestors but people of authority and people in the town. Realizing that Faith and himself are the only two not yet initiated, he looks to heaven and the hell he was in vanishes, leaving him back in the forest not knowing whether it was a dream or reality. He returns to Salem the next day with a belief that his Christian village and all of humanity is perverted and so he died a bitter and distrustful man with no hope. B. The Effects Of Domestic Violence On Domestic Abuse Susan Cisneros English 1301 Lacina Taylor 2 December 2014 Stop The Abuse Underreported and underestimated, domestic abuse rips families apart every single day. Domestic violence comes in mainly five different forms, physical, sexual, psychological, emotional, and economic. This violence ruins families, demoralizes the victims, and the public downplays the household terrorism that goes on every day. The most commonly known physical violence occurs when a partner or parent inflicts injury such as hitting, stabbing, and shoving. Physical violence also takes place when food or fluids, medical care and other sources that maintain health get withheld. The most commonly recognized form of sexual violence is rape, or non consensual sexual intercourse. Sexual and physical violence oftentimes both wind up reported by the same victim. Bananas, Chiquita, and Globalization Bananas, Chiquita and Globalization While globalization is a relatively new phenomenon in theory, but not necessarily in history, as of 2009 it has created transnational corporations linked to government, international economic institutions, and non government organizations. (Steger 67). With this definition bananas are a textbook example of the globalization of tropical fruit commodities. The transnational corporations of the United States, most notably Chiquita, Dole and Del Monte, have been linked to the governments of Latin and South America, the World Trade Organization, and the organic fruit movement. It is at this first stage of production at the plantation where the most exploitation of workers takes place. As an article about workers rights in Ecuador says, people are not seen as being as important as the final product (Astorga 2). Because a lot of banana exporting countries have monoculture economies, most of the countries depend on jobs and income from banana producers. Most of these jobs are contracts too resulting in only temporary work. Not surprisingly, 10 cents of every dollar spent on Chiquita bananas stays in the production process (Wiley 71). Banana workers are notorious for being paid dismal wages; it should be no surprise that profits benefit the powerfully rich fruit companies not plantation workers. Ecuador , in particular, is known for paying the lowest wages because there are few unions. The average daily wage in Ecuador is $2 in contrast to $9 in Costa Rica (STITCH), allowing Ecuador to sell boxes of bananas for cheaper. With no unions, Chiquita does not pay health insurance, overtime pay or money for education. For most banana workers the threat of being fired triumphs the promises of unions, simply because Chiquita would not be profitable without cheap labor. For banana workers they must work under strenuous working conditions, often working twelve hour days, carrying heavy bunches of bananas cut from the banana trunk. Aside from social ... Uranium and its by products of decay, namely radon are abundant and are constantly being generated. (13) Radon is capable of easily traveling through rocks and soil.(14) The gas is also found dissolved in water, due to decay in the soil or rock below.(15) Radon in Water The risk from radon in water is much lower than the risk from radon in air. This is because the water must be heated or agitated to release the gas. This can happen in a shower, boiling water on a stove, or by using a washing machine. Most public water supplies don t present a radon risk, this is because the water is aerated at the treatment site and the gas escapes into the atmosphere. Most water that contains hazardous amounts of radon comes from wells. Wells should be tested for radon if the building that they are supplying contains hazardous amounts in the air. The testing procedures for water are different from those used on air.(16) Water containing radon can usually be treated. The most effective treatment is to remove radon from the water before it enters the home, this is called point of entry treatment. Water can also be treated at the tap, this is known as point of use treatment. However this treatment is much less effective at removing the risk.(17) Radon Entry Radon travels through the ground and into the air, allowing the gas to easily enter buildings and homes. ... The other, made more than 100 years later, is T.E.U.C.L.A., a large scale steel sculpture made by minimalist sculptor Richard Serra. Although it may seem like these works have more differences than similarities, both emphasize the processes of their creation and are major movements away from the classical tradition of sculpture. These aspects include: mode of production, composition and the arrangement of volumes, the play of light and shadow, and visual experience. Together these elements of formal organization work together to convey meaning in both of these works. Rodin s deliberate rejection of refinement and disregard for the direct translation of the unformed to formed in The Walking Man represent the process and spontaneity of reality, while Serra s use of curvature and aperture in T.E.U.C.L.A. models the spaces people move through and the perceptive skills they use in life and nature. Although these modern times that we live in have created new substances and ways to replace the natural way to eat meat, people will always have reason to go back to the original way to get the basic nutrition of meat. • 29. Technological Experience in Electronics I have experienced and learned many things about electronics since I was 12. My father taught me many things about electronic devices. When I was young, before the age of 12, I enjoyed observing my father as he worked on damaged electronic devices. As I got older, my curiosity became immense and I started to ask many questions. At first, I got to unscrew the object with screwdrivers. In the article How to Use a Screwdriver by an eHow contributor instructed that rotating the screwdriver clockwise would insert the screw. If you rotate the screwdriver counter clockwise it would remove the screw. I still remember how to insert and remove a screw with a screwdriver until this day. Then my father would eventually explain the components of the devices and how to distinguish similar or relatively alike components. Some simple examples are capacitors, which are shaped differently according to their functionality. The Basic Electronics Tutorials explained the Capacitor, sometimes referred to as a Condenser, is a simple passive device that is used to store electricity . There are many types of capacitors on a circuit board which can be distinguished by sizes or its relative area that s on the board. There are electrolytic, film, dielectric and ceramic capacitor. Yet, the failure of Operation Eagle Claw brought death to military personnel and shame to America. Operation Eagle Claw was a mission to end the hostage crisis in Iran which was in a political upraise against the United States. The planning of Operation Eagle Claw was too complex and planners over looked the military aviation doctrine to hastily get the hostages to safety. On a particular night they go out looking for trouble, and trouble is what they find. The tone of this story is serious, dark, and very graphic. This story is full of literary devices. Metaphors and similes come thick and fast on the shores of Greasy Lake, and Boyle never contents himself with one when he can offer two or three. The comparisons for their abundance, are neither aimless nor without purpose; they enable us to see the referent from strategic points of view. Body cameras have been adopted by many agencies and I feel that they will not be going away unless a new technology replaces the system in place. The new technology in the criminal justice field that could be adopted by law enforcement agencies is the way for officers to run facial recognition on individuals on their patrol. This facial recognition could be developed in a variety of ways from running software in the car on people who pass the vehicle. Another way that this software could be implemented is through the use of goggles or glasses much like an augmented reality headset. This can create a realtime way for officers to identify individuals to see if the have a BOLO or have an outstanding warrant. Facial recognition would have to take great leaps to make it a practical way for officers to identify suspects. This software could be used on a lower scale and officers could use a camera to run the persons face through a variety of databases to identify an individual who may be lying about their name. • 33. Personal Responsibility For Ma s Success Essay A number of factors contributed to Ma s success. It may be useful to start with some of the key business principles he has vocalized and to refer to his background from there. His first principle relates to his own personal responsibility for the consequences associated with his business decisions. He has noted somewhat dramatically that if anyone has to go to jail as a result of following his direction, he should be the first to go. He also stated during his IPO in New York that if shareholders were unhappy, he would be willing to buy the company back from them. It is not clear whether this is a realistic suggestion, but the sentiment is certainly rare. This sense of personal responsibility often derives from starting in a position where one intimately knows all of his colleagues. This was the case when Alibaba began. Another of Ma s core principles has been to maintain a sense of direction. As the CEO is responsible for setting the mission and the aim of a company, this job also entails expressing this to leading management the company as a whole as well as setting in place the process to execute it. Looking back, Ma has been instrumental in the company s continual innovation, acquisition and expansion. This progress is reminiscent of clear task oriented goals. Ma is careful to remind business leaders that a sense of modesty is helpful to the learning process. He claimed he is always happy when he has a student who knows something he does not. • 34. The Song This Jesus Must Die Musicals are a living form of art. A musical combines dance, dialogue, characters, music, costumes and vocals in order to represent a moral issue. Some appear at the forefront of the plot while others are presented alongside the storyline. A fitting example of a musical, is Jesus Christ Superstar composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber. This musical is perfect as it is entirely sung, has amazing rock music and has themes and moral issues carefully intertwine throughout the plot. However, the largest moral issue or dilemma is how popularity can negatively and positively affect the main character Jesus. The song This Jesus must Die is an excellent example of the negative side of popularity, as it shows the Romans planning to kill Jesus before he surpasses them in power. The song begins with a moderate tempo of 72bpm in a time signature of 4/4. However, the use of semibreves and the organ slows the perceived tempo, giving the score a ghostly and ominous feel (seen in bars 1 13 and figure 1 and 2). This ominous feel is throughout these bars, as it represents the tension between Jesus s power and the Roman authority. This also clearly sets up the roman s character, as a dominating evil force. Narrative Elements Of Horror Almost every genre of film to date has been designed and developed to make an audience feel satisfied or sexed up and in love or delighted or inspired or rushed with adrenaline. Horror, on the other hand, was the first genre that preyed on the audience s deepest fears and utilized them to provide cinema with nightmare flair. And everybody loved it. The idea of this essay is to address the nightmarish absurdity that horror is so well known for. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The term body horror was first coined in 1986 in an issue of the film magazine Screen. The films of this subgenre concentrate on the human body and the horror of estrangement from within. Defined, body horror is: Such destruction or generation of the human body can be as a result of anything from alien life forces to genetic mutations, viruses, diseases etc. Much of this subgenre was to do with society s body anxiety and body consciousness and also explores identity and humanity. (Class notes: Body Horror) Though these films address such valid points, they also strive to create a swelling unease in the viewer and an awkward discomfort the viewer s body. The intent is to provoke sickness, revulsion, and abhorrence in the audience. Eraserhead, without a doubt, succeeds in achieving all of the above. This film is such a significant, sweeping example of the far reaching horror genre. • 37. Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening Analysis In the modern day world there is an ongoing argument whether love is good or bad in nature. Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening is a simple poem that was not originally written to create an underlying message of love, but due to the popularity of Robert Frost s work it has and still is being critiqued comprehensively. This paper will prove that Robert Frost is not referring to loving another person in particular but the narrator s peaceful surroundings in the woods. Although, the literary techniques used in Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening create a peaceful environment for the reader, the stop in the wilderness creates a dilemma with the narrator s state of mind. Having considered the case of love the narrator is feeling, it is evident of what is being adored in this poem. The title alone alerts the reader of the place, setting and the basic theme of the story. The woods seem to exhibit a calmness and tranquility that encourages the protagonist to stop his journey and rest and in reality, the wilderness represents madness and darkness in the world. Frost opens the first stanza with the self conscious narrator thinking to himself, Whose woods these are I think I know. His house is in the village though (1 2). The man s insecurity naturally causes him to be uneasy but the solitude in the woods creates the affection that awes him. Since this story is told from the narrator s point of view, the reader can now infer that the protagonist is not thinking clearly due to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
