Voluntaryly Childless Couples
Be fruitful and multiply, this is the word of the Lord. However, this is now being challenged by some
married couples as there is an increasing rate of married couples choosing to remain childless. The
traditional definition of a family is defined as a man and a woman living together with child /children.
However, a new family type has emerged, such as voluntary childless couples. In this family type the
couple is married and is fully capable of biological reproduction, but have no intention of doing so.
Thus, voluntary childlessness among a married couple exists for a number of reasons: due to
achieving a higher level of educational attainment, so as to pursue a higher standard of living and fear
that children will potentially cause an unhappy marriage. Because of achieving a higher level of
educational attainment, some married couples choose to remain childless. The household childlessness
rate is strongly linked to married couples with high educational level. For example, the Australian
Bureau of Statistics indicated that the proportion of couples aged 45 49 years who were childless
increased with higher level of educational attainment. The statistics highlighted that the highest
proportion of childless married couples were among those with a bachelor degree or higher (20%),
compared with 12% of those with an undergraduate or associate diploma. Couples with no post school
qualifications had the lowest level of childlessness (9%). It is seen that the delaying of child

Neanderthals, Ancestors to Human Beings Essay
The most recent ancestor to the modern human, Homo neanderthalensis existed between 300,000 and
35,000 years ago. Originating in Africa, ancestors of the early Neanderthals migrated northwards
almost 800,000 years ago. These migrants colonized much of the Old World with the majority based
in Europe and small groups scattered throughout the Middle East and Asia. Historically, the
Neanderthals were among the most resiliant creatures to exist on Earth. As a population, they thrived
during the European ice age 40,000 years ago. This ice age enveloped the majority of Northern and
Central Europe and due to their physique were the Neanderthals were able to surive. Physcially, the

Their weapons which consisted at most consisted of spears which required confrontational hunting.
The average Neanderthal life spanned thirty years due to the extreme physical strain and harsh living
conditions of life during this period of Earth s history. Traditionally, Neanderthals have been viewed
as large, hulking ape like beings that survived by aggression and power through the harshest
conditions possible on earth. They have been painted as unsophisticated and unable to compete with
humans on an intellectual level. These academics theorized that superior human intellect and
reasoning gave humans the advantage in hunting game and securing the most valuable natural
resource, eventually driving the Homo neanderthalensis to extinction 30,000 years ago. Popular
culture describes Neanderthals as first viewed by science as large, hulking ape like beings. However,
new evidence suggests that one of the first reconstructed Neanderthal skeletons did not consider that
the individual suffered from acute arthritis. Despite unique, this Neanderthal s hunching posture was
associated with the entire species, giving one the impression of a brutish caveman . This new
understanding has reformed research on the Neanderthal and a new understanding of humanity s
earliest ancestor By examining Neanderthal tools and utensils one can gain an understanding of the
complexity of

The Book Of Acts By The Bible
The Book of Acts is a book about the beginning of the first Christians and the growth of the Church.
Acts explains how Christianity began and also spread about. It explains how Jesus used some of the
apostles to teach through the Holy Spirit after ascending into Heaven. The writer of the Book of Acts
is the apostle Luke, who gives us insight into the different things the disciples, mainly Peter and Paul,
had went through during this time. Luke describes these instances but rarely indicates how Christians
today should respond. What would Christianity look like today if only the Book of Acts was written in
the New Testament?
The Early Church started with Peter, who told the people to repent and be baptized, only then would
they receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. After 3,000 were baptized, the very first Church was started.
The early Church had a focus on the Bible and it s teachings, the stories the apostles shared, breaking
the bread, meal sharing, prayer, and fellowship. Today, Christians might only continue to share stories
that the apostles shared, be baptized, pray, and get to know members of their Church if this was the
only book written in the New Testament. Peter gives Jesus to people in need in the Book of Acts, and
this is a difference in what we don t see sometimes practiced in Churches today. Christians learning to
ask Jesus into their heart was a major milestone in the early Church. The Book of Acts, as discussed
by Michael Morrison, the author of

Nonconformity In Transcendentalism Poems
Nonconformity is one of the themes used in transcendentalism poems. It is used to mostly provide
support for another important theme, Self reliance. The story and theme are two different things by the
way. Nonconformity is usually used to give the reader a direct definitions of someone s originality and
individuality. In the beginning of Self Reliance by Ralph Waldo Emerson, he says, whoso would be a
man be a nonconformist. What he means by that is that if you are good at something, then you should
not take it for granted. Many people are good at things and like to brag but that is not how it should
be. You should be good also at not bragging because it will only bring negative attention to your skills
or talent. Self reliance is also

The Dutch Golden Age Of The Dutch Revolt
Now formally known as The Netherlands, the nation used to be identified as the great land
of The Dutch. During the seventeenth century, the nation experienced an influx that made
the country s name known all over the world. Titled The Dutch Golden Age during which The
Dutch Republic become at the time, one of the most powerful nations in the world in respect to
their economy, liberal arts, and naval military. As this essay progresses, I will continue to discuss
this particular time in history and reveal it s impact on not only itself, but the entire European
continent.
Before discussing how The Dutch s economy increased and how The Dutch Golden Age came to be,
going over the Dutch Revolt would be an ideal place to start considering it s how the Dutch gained
their independence. The first forty three years of the Dutch Revolt also knowns as the Eighty Years
War, was the fight between The Dutch Republic and Spanish Empire. The fight between the two lasted
from 1566 till 1609 until a twelve year truce was signed and The Dutch Republic finally gained it s
hard earned independence. The Dutch revolted against the Spanish King mainly because the King
wanted to tax ten percent. At the time, Holland was one the wealthiest countries in Europe, thanks to
their large population of windmills and the new trading routes with India and Africa. The country didn
t feel that the King needed a profit from them and they rebelled, beginning the historical Eighty Years
War.

Essay On Civil War Women
Women in the U.S. Civil War
Up until the U.S. Civil war women were focused on making their homes a private and comfortable
place for their families (History.com Staff). However the coming war would push women into the
public eye with lots of women joining volunteer brigades and working as nurses. This was the first
time in American history Women played such an important part in the war effort (History.com Staff).
On July 4, 1861, the women of Maryland wrote a letter to Lieut. Gen. Scott titled An Appeal for
Peace. In this document the women of Maryland, a border state, wanted to maintain the peace between
the north and the south (Women of Maryland). The women of Maryland saw what was on the horizon
and wanted to do everything they could to stop the coming war. When that did not work they threw
themselves into the war effort to help any way they could.
The women of the north, wanting to be more involved, started to set up ladies aid societies that would
gather supplies and distribute them to the soldiers. Many became nurses wanting to help closer to the
front lines. In June 1861 the Federal Government agreed to create the United States Sanitary
Commission. This commission was dedicated to the prevention of disease due to by hygiene or
cooking. The women s effort of the north was astounding with nearly 20,000 women turning out to
help. One of these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Fredrick Douglass And Slavery
Fredrick Douglass was a slave whom was kept in the State of Maryland. He was an African American
social reformer, orator, abolitionist, writer, and a statesman. Fredrick was born into being a slave in the
year 1818, considering that his mother was a slave woman. However, Fredrick had no choice to be
seen and treated like a slave because of where he was born into. Fredrick was born into this world and
he says that there were whispers about his father being his master. He was separated from his mother

Many men and woman were desperately needed to work on the land. The slave s owners where white
bond servants paying their passage across the ocean from Europe through indentured labor, eased but
did not solve any of their problems. Slaves were mainly economical on large farms where they labored
intensive cash crops, including tobacco, cotton, rice, sugar, and many other farming products that were
able to be traded and exported. By the end of the American Revolution, slavery was finally proven
unprofitable in the North, so it started dying out. In the South the institution was becoming less and
less useful to farmers as tobacco prices fluctuated and began to drop rapidly. That s is when the cotton
gin was invented by Eli Whitney, which created the growth of southern slavery again and was the
central place of cotton in the world economy (class notes). The cotton replaced the tobacco leading to
the South s main cash crop and slavery became profitable again. That made the international slave
trade rise. Although, majority of the Southerners did not own any slaves at all. But, by 1860 the South
s abnormality institution was impossible to separate from the regions economy.
The Southerners were torn between the economic benefits of slavery and the morals of the
constitutions issues it had been raising.

The Importance Of Gras Migration To The United States
Assimilation is the procedure by which settlers turn out to be a piece of the standard culture of their
new nation, reducing the contrasts amongst workers and local conceived Americans. Examine
regularly recognizes social absorption, in which ethnic and social standards from the past nation turn
out to be less common, and different elements, for example, financial achievement and instructive
value, alluded to under the umbrella of basic digestion. Absorption, particularly social digestion, has
been a questionable level headed discussion in American strategy making, influencing instruction,

additionally been banned from entering the United States by different laws over the span of history.
Settler bunches have confronted and keep on battling bigotry and negative treatment resulting to

portion of the twentieth century. Since a low point in the 1940s, the movement rate has risen
drastically. The number of inhabitants in foreigners in the United States has quadrupled since 1970
and multiplied in number since 1990. Moreover, today s migrants vary in ethnicity, aptitudes, and
instruction. Most foreigners in the mid 1900s emigrated from Europe, and were generally Caucasian.

Disadvantages Of Resolution 2098
Resolution 2098 was adopted by the United Nations Security Council on 28th March 2013 regarding
the situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The UN recognized the lack of progress in
DRC and adopted the resolution creating the Intervention Brigade unanimously. These difficulties had
already been highlighted previously and it was recommended to address the violence issue in a more
robust way, notably after the humanitarian failures of the 1990s (genocide in Rwanda, in Srebrenica,
massacres in refugee camps in DRC , etc.) Resolution 2098 created a new mandate for the
stabilization force in the DRC (Mission de l Organisation des Nations Unies pour la stabilisation en
République démocratique du Congo, or MONUSCO) which included a Force Intervention Brigade
(FIB) tasked with carrying out targeted offensive operations to neutralize armed groups with the intent
of preventing violence against civilians and protecting them under imminent threat . The mandate
included the employment of all necessary measures and went beyond the mandate of MONUSCO,
making it the first ever offensive force under the control and command of the UN. Even though the

Bulimia Nervosa Case Study Paper
After review of Andrea s case study, consideration of symptoms, and history my diagnosis is Bulimia

disorders were ruled out due to either symptoms or time frame. Differential diagnosis included Binge
Eating disorder F50.8, but ruled out because it was mentioned Andrea engaged in inappropriate
compensatory behaviors such use of prescribed and illicit drugs, and diuretics.
Andrea met criteria for All aspects of Bulimia Nervosa in section a both 1 and 2; eating within a

abuse, mood affective disorders such as major depressive disorder, and catatonia. Brief Psychotic
onset can occur in early adulthood. To support a diagnosis of Brief Psychotic Disorder one must take
into effect a person s cultural background, and family practices such as religion. For example,
someone praying allowed can be viewed as speaking to themselves, or in some cultures it being the
norm to state one heard from God . While this could mean not actually hearing voices but a spiritual
form of guidance. Religion must also be taken into consideration when crediting or discrediting
someone s beliefs as delusional. In Martin s case his delusions were of aliens conspiring with his
family to kill him and could not be confused with religious beliefs. It was clear he was suffering from
delusions. It is also important to take into account any family history of psychotic disorders. Martin s
aunt suffered from erratic behavior and had been in and out of the hospital for years. It is also
important to take into account any preexisting personality disorder traits which can predispose a
person to develop the disorder (American Psychiatric Association,

younger generation which settles for livelier and exciting appearance for their audience.
The language which was used in Blackpool was plain English which give full details which the reader

Should The Plant Own Fleet Or Hire Trucks From A Third...
The main issue to be addressed has been fleet routing and scheduling. Should the plant own fleet or
hire trucks from a third party logistics firm to deliver the inventory to it facility?
The facilities shipping pattern must also be analyzed and weighted against information on trucking
costs in order to decide which method is more beneficial to the facility.
The number of hogs that should be penned prior to the commencement of slaughtering since we have
to take into consideration the number of pens in the plant, the number of hours to pen hogs prior to
slaughtering.
How are we going to manage the plant number of pens to match up with the daily inventory so that the
plant will run at full capacity? To do this, we must determine the number of hogs that should be
penned prior to the start of slaughtering so that they wont be any overlap and the plant will run at full
capacity.
Environmental and Root Cause
All the 2.5 million hogs that are usually slaughtered annually at the Brandon plant are trucked into
Brandon from all over Manitoba and certain parts of Saskatchewan via trucks. The closest farms are
approximately half hour away, and the farthest away are 3.5 hours away from the plant.
Combined with loading and unloading, it will take between 1.5 and 4.5 hours to collect, transport, and
unload the hogs into holding pens awaiting slaughter. All the farms are of different sizes (measured in
production and shipments)

Essay on Pardoner s Manipulation of Audience
Pardoner s Manipulation of Audience
The Pardoner has had a graduate education in the rhetoric of confession. Chaucer might
intend it to be merely cutely ironic that this confessor confesses as in isn t that a turning of the tables,
la! On the other hand, it may well be that the Pardoner is practicing his rhetorical prowess on the other
pilgrims, and on us, with the extreme skill of a cynical and perceptive man who s heard every villainy
and mastered every deception. His intention, in his confession to the pilgrims, is obviously not to
manipulate them into pity, forgiveness and acceptance, any more than it is to get them to actually pay
to touch his holy relics ; it is a confession, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His keen insight into human depravity is what makes him such a brilliant con. He plays on the most
deep seated insecurities of his flock when he describes the magical powers of his relics. They will cure
sick livestock (livestock being the most valuable possession of the average listener, not to mention
shepherds); they will prosper crops (for all the farmers in the audience). That covers the men! To the
women, he offers the fantastic promise that his relics will cure their husbands of their jealousy and
suspicion. This is doubly clever, in light of the Wife of Bath s tale, because it picks up on her ideal of
women empowered to cheat on doting, trusting, forgiving husbands.
Let maken with this water his potage,
And never shal he more his wyf mistriste,
Though he the sooth of hir defaute wiste;
Al had she taken preestes two or three.
It s trebly clever, actually, because the last line can be read both as sexual solicitations to the women in
his flock, as well as an insult to the three priests present on the pilgrimage.
His next con is even more wickedly clever; he demonstrates how he subtly manipulates
his flock into coming forward and making offerings to his relics in order to avoid suspicion that they
have committed some horrible sin.
If any wight be in this chirche now,
That hath doon sinne horrible,

The Generalization Of Sex Workers In The Bachelorette, By...
This can be epitomized by the movie The Bachelorette by Leslye Headland, where a sex worker is
shown to ask a client for 300 dollars for a one finger touch of her stomach and is okay with being paid
in cocaine rather than money. Sex workers, such as the stripper that was presented in The
Bachelorette, are portrayed as workers who only seek to trick men out of more money or drugs, and as
women who deserve the hard life of prostitution consequently for their deviant lifestyle choices. This
portrayal negatively generalizes sex workers as workers whose primary objective is to scheme in order
to have an influx of and an abundance of cash, when in fact many work for less than minimum wage
and are working to stay above the poverty line. As Neon Wasteland by Susan Dewey notes many of
the workers that started operating in sex work do so after failing to find jobs that can provide them the
same amount of income and relative flexibility that sex work provides (Preface). The negative
portrayal of sex workers in movies can also be seen in the film Magic Mike by Steven Soderbergh,
where the main character strips only as a way to pursue his pastime, and is surrounded by the party
lifestyle. This scene contributes to the negative generalization of sex work and portrayal of sex
workers as stripping solely for the purpose of an influx of cash as well as a clear dependence on drugs
and on the party lifestyle is inaccurate for the majority of sex workers and negatively impacts sex

Healthcare System in Great Britain
Health Care System in Great Britain
Organization of health care in Great Britain
Health care in the United Kingdom is devolved depending states: other states like Scotland and
Northern Ireland are separate entities and do not form part of the UK medical healthcare system. The
states have their own private and public sectors of health care to the people. Devolution stretches to
every activity that is concerned with delivering of health care facilities and personalities required that
serve the citizens. The model of offering health care among the citizens of the United Kingdom is
different from those of other states like Wales and Scotland. Moreover, the policies and strategies of
health care are different between the United Kingdom and other states.
Great Britain stands on its own as a separate entity that ensures the citizens of the federal government
have accessed equitable health care services. The payments of the health care services offered by the
states go all the citizens is catered for by the general taxation body within the federal government.
Every state has a private health care centre that is smaller than the public health care sector. The
private health care provisions are provided by the private sector through direct funding by the patient
or through taxation accruals in cases where the patient suffers complicated cases like AIDS/HIV
(Dewar, 2010).
The United Kingdom was ranked as the fifth best in the world by the world health organization. This

Human Event Reflection
This semester in The Human Event, we read multiple diverse texts and we discussed and worked with
them in ways that I have not experienced in High School. Instead of discussing the texts based on
random details that we find in the text, we discussed what the text meant to the overall story, or better
yet, what the evidence said about the culture of the story and human nature. I learned a great deal
about the diverse meanings of human life, and I learned about various cultures and pieces of their
history. Additionally, we wrote papers based on textual evidence to argue points in a way on a higher
level than I was used to. My argumentative ability evolved from using plot summary into deeply
analyzing parts of the text to prove a point. From developing concrete skills to the cultural content I
was exposed to, I have grown from this semester in The Human Event.
When I started the semester in The Human Event, I had little ability of supporting my position
effectively. When I wrote my first paper in The Human Event, I defaulted to the standard of argument
that was present in high school: I summarized the plot of the text. Even to the foundation of my
roadmap, I attempted to follow a chronological order to Gilgamesh, as I specifically stated that I have
structured this paper to follow the order of the plot . In the rest of my paper, I didn t even follow the
plot effectively. Instead of following the plot, I provided episodes within the plot. For example, I

The Famous Painting Of Abraham Lincoln Hangs At The Capitol
We often talk about Francis Bicknell Carpenter here at Cortland County Historical Society. His
famous painting of Abraham Lincoln hangs at the Capitol and he was born and raised in Homer.
However, there is another native of Cortland County who has three important statues prominently
displayed in Washington, D.C. Curious? His name was Clark Mills and he created the first equestrian
statue in America and his life began in Taylor. Clark Mills was born in Taylor but the information
available to us does not give us a definitive date. Suffice it to say that it was between 1810 and 1815.
His father died when he was just five years old and then he was placed with an uncle. This was typical

The horse appeared perfectly balanced on his hind legs and was very lifelike. It was agreed that he
would be paid $12,000 to execute the statue and the bronze would be provided. It took 2 years to make
the plaster cast and a lot of trial and error. A statue of this size of bronze had not been attempted in the
United States to that date. The bronze was from cannons which were captured by Andrew Jackson
during the second war with England. The statue was dedicated in January 8, 1853 and placed in
LaFayette Square in Washington, D.C. It is still there, directly across from the White House. Congress
was so pleased with the delightfully original statue that they added $20,000 to the fee which had
already been paid. With the mold already made, Mills was commissioned to make the same statue to
be placed in New Orleans in 1856. A third replica was ordered for Nashville, Tennessee and dedicated
in 1880. Mills next project was an equestrian statue of George Washington. He was also chosen to
complete Statue of Freedom which was designed by Thomas Crawford. Crawford had gotten as far as
making the plaster model but had died before having the chance to cast the statue in bronze. Mills
purchased land close to Washington and built a studio and a foundry to complete the orders which he
had received. The Washington statue was very different from the Jackson statue and Mills was paid
$50,000 to create it. The finished product was completed and dedicated in 1860 and

Post World War II America produced a number of images that will be forever imprinted on the minds
of Americans. Such images as television shows like Leave It To Beaver and I Love Lucy, movies such
as An Affair To Remember, and Brigadoon, are watched frequently even in today s society. But in this
world of fairytale movies and the American Dream, what about those who didn t fit into the picture of

Ginsberg does not spare the innocent reader. When one analyzes the social power of Ginsberg s

The second portion of Howl is commonly considered by critics to be the most complicated for the
average mind to comprehend. In this section, nearly every thing is described as a Moloch. Moloch, in
mythology was a God to whom children were sacrificed. Now, the term is commonly used to describe
anything responsible for destroying innocence. In Part II, Ginsberg describes nearly everything about
American culture to be a Moloch. Even society s viewpoints are Molochs. In a way, Ginsberg is
calling America itself a Moloch, and then continuing to describe parts of the whole.
Moloch whose mind is pure machinery! Moloch whose blood is running money! Moloch whose
fingers are ten armies! Moloch whose breast is a cannibal dynamo! Moloch whose ear is a smoking
tomb! (Ginsberg 21)
America is evil to Ginsberg because of the feelings of hatred and repulsion the society builds in him.
The third section of Howl is a striking contrast to the other two parts.

The Theme Of Identity In Barbie
Be whoever you want to be, just not yourself. People are often discouraged from becoming who they
want to be due to what is deemed sensible. Most people choose their career based on where they see
people like them. This idea averts people from exploring different occupations where they might be
more content; and stops people from discovering their strengths. Legally Blonde (2001) directed by
Robert Luketic, In Defense of Barbie: Why She Might Be the Most Feminist Doll Around by
Charlotte Alter, Mondo Barbie by Lucinda Ebersole and Richard Peabody, Forever Barbie by M.G.
Lord, Barbie: Spy Squad (2016) directed by Conrad Helten, and the Wikipedia article Barbie are all
writings that focus on going beyond who you are and becoming who you want to be. Each piece
mentioned formerly expresses the idea of identity and how to exceed the limits of it. In this essay, I
will summarize each work previously introduce, discuss how the theme of identity is prevalent in each
piece, and consider the significance of the theme in each work. Legally Blonde (2001) directed by
Robert Luketic suggests that a person s identity does not limit their capabilities to succeed in any way.
Elle Woods, in an attempt to prove to her boyfriend and peers that she is a serious person, transforms
from a stereotypical sorority girl into a lawyer working at a prestigious law firm. Luketic uses the

Outpatient Clinical Site Analysis
Today was my first day in the Hospital, and it was definitively a big difference compare to an
outpatient clinical site. The feeling of the hospital is so much more chaotic, and other techs are
definitively less patient and expect much more out of me. At Smil everyone seems to be more helpful,
understanding and calm. I felt everything was unorganized at the hospital and the entire time I had a
feeling of uncertainty and I was unsure who to follow, what to do and where to stand. The patients at
the hospital are also in a different category, it is not easy going from having all ambulatory patients, to
a non responsive patient as well as the inebriated ones. Today I also realized how true it is what you

Distance In The Latehomecomer By Kao Kalia Yang
Time is a relative concept. Created by man, it was meant to contain events and label points of interest.
Distance, however, is always certain. There is no bend of the path from here to there, it will always be
the same amount. In The Latehomecomer by Kao Kalia Yang the dilemma of distance is tackled
through expressing the heartache that can come from it exiting between people. Kao Kalia Yang and
her family came to America in 1987. There were many strange features in the country. From the
strangers kissing openly at the airport, to the hassle of finding the restroom, and the new type of
separation between the Yang s. The topic of distance is constantly brought up in the book. It first

How Can Freedom Be Demanded
Freedom should be demanded, because not everyone listens when you ask for something, if anything
people would laugh at these people who want freedom and not take them seriously when they do ask
for freedom. If people take a stand and demand what they really want and show they want it and fight
for it there would be people standing up with that one person too, then there would be an uprising on
how people need freedom and demand it even more. A great example would be the the day Martin
Luther King Jr. took a stand and said his word on how there needs to be freedom and how it must be
demanded in order for us to get it, the day the pastor took a stand and demanded freedom for his
people (blacks) and as he kept saying his word and talking about freedom for the blacks more and
more people agreed with him and took a stand. It is a great example of how freedom should be
demanded and not given.
The reason people would laugh at the people asking for freedom and not take them seriously is
because these people would be in a higher class than others and laugh at the people who want the
same amount as the these people, they think that they are better than any one of of these people. They

Pros And Cons Of Whaling Controversy In Norway And Japan
Whaling Controversy in Norway and Japan
For centuries nations across the globe have hunted a variety of animals to provide for their inhabitants
diets and economies, which for some species has resulted in endangerment or extinction. Several
species of whale have become endangered because of the process of whale hunting, and in order to
combat excessive whale hunting the International Whaling Comission (IWC) set forth a ban in 1986 to
halt the whaling industry (International Whaling Comission, n.d.); however, nations such as Norway
and Japan insisted that their practices continue on the basis of cultural exception. The economies of
their whaling regions, they argued, would be put into danger by the moratorium, and so the nations
have been allowed to continue hunting small amounts of the non endangered winke whales and, in
some cases, fin whales. As whaling is an important part of the coastal economies for certain countries,
the nations certainly have a right to attempt a case of cultural exemption. Without whaling certain
villages could lose most of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be done through two main forces: through putting a hard limit on the amount of whales and
types of whales to be hunted and through requiring scientists to monitor whale populations in the
areas. The first limit will keep whaling industries in check by making sure that they can still provide
income for their workers while protecting whale populations. Also, it will mean that a quota cannot be
surpassed, so only a small amount of whales can be hunted. Also, biologists and conservationists
should definitely be involved to make sure that quotas are not too high. Quotas which are too high
would result in hunting whales faster than the populations can reproduce, causing a threat to the whale
populations and the surrounding ecosystems, and so they must be monitored

Carrier Warfare Research Paper
The first strike advantage defines the significance of carrier warfare. Carrier warfare is a method of
striking with such force that the enemy will no longer be a threat. The emergence of carrier warfare
centers on the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor. The Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor with regards to the
offense/defense theory. Japan had naval power and knew that they must preemptively destroy US
battle ships that had the ability to defeat Japan. Sagan would argue that the emergence of carrier
warfare derives from Japan s miscalculation of the United States credibility. Japan did not believe that
the United States would declare war. Japan also gravely misgauged the extent to which the United
States would retaliate . On December 10 1941, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each ship protects the carrier. Carrier warfare is significant because including air tactics in naval
warfare proved to transform the demeanor of naval battle. Planes have greater range, and a larger
surveillance window. Planes have extensive weaponry and offensive tactics, but it is logistically
difficult for a battleship to attack a plane. Planes have been shown to be effective against submarines .
Van Evera would argue that a doctrine of first strike advantage raises risk of preemptive war . He
would emphasize that secrecy and window of opportunity are two vital aspects to explain the
emergence of carrier warfare. Each attack on the enemy s carrier is designed to hurt the enemy to the
extent that they will no longer be able to return the attack. Secrecy in carrier warfare will not give the
enemy enough time to respond or mobilize. Additionally, windows of opportunity help explain the
success of the Battle of Midway. At the Battle of Midway, Japanese ships were not equipped with
radar . The Japanese ships were refueling when the United States attacked. The Japanese Imperial

Global Wine Wars
How did the French become the dominant competitors in the increasingly global wine industry for
centuries? What sources of competitive advantage were they able to develop to support their exports?
Where were they vulnerable?
By the Christian era, wine became part of the liturgical services, and monasteries planted vines and
built wineries. By the Middle Ages, the European nobility began planting vineyards as a mark of
prestige, competing with one another in the quality of wine served at their tables the first niche market
for premium wine. The French were the dominant competitors in an increasing global market because
they believed in the same old tradition that brought so many of their ancestors success years prior.

There was more fertile land widely available, that was less expensive which promoted the growth of
more extensive vineyards. By 2006, the United States had 213 Hectares, Australia had 167 hectares
but traditional vine growers such as Italy and France had only 1.3 hectares and 7.4 hectares
respectively.
The growth in the wine industry in France attracted political attention, and series of regulations for
wine producing such as the Appellation d Origin Controllee (AOC) laws which proposed strict
principles for vineyards and wine makers. Similar standards were introduced in Italy which controlled
the several aspects of wine production. The new world countries, such as the United States and
Australia, did not have production regulations allowing them to deviate from traditional wine making
practices and developed different methodologies to increase the yield.
Many of the new innovations and better climatic conditions lead the new world countries to produce
high quality wine at a much lower cost than their European counterparts. For example, the cost of
popular priced wines in France was €238/ton and in Australia the same type of wine was only
€137/ton. The new world wine producers experimented with new techniques in grape growing and
wine making technology. Unlike French AOC laws, which prohibited the practice of irrigation,
controlled drip irrigation systems in Australia allowed expansion into peripheral lands and reduced

The main suppliers are the Equator, Netherlands, France, Italy, Mexico, Germany, etc. the main buyers

to survive it must maintain a very efficient supply chain from the producer to the consumer. Equator
who is big supplier of flower in the world enjoys quite a competitive advantage in relation to its main
competitors. Equator has cheap labor cost, 12 hour a day sun, and the fact that farms are very close to
the airport. But in recent years these competitive advantages have been matched by other producer in
North Africa, Asia, Colombia, India and more recently China. China, India, and Colombia focus on
producing great quantity of flower at a lower cost whereas Equator focuses in producing its flower in
high quality rather than quantity. The pick of the market is around the month of February. During this
time the price of flower tends to rise due to the heavy demand allowing companies to generate 1/3 of
their revenue around this time. Equator supplies 25% of the rose in the world. For every 1 flower sold

The Success Of Steve Jobs
Over the course of 7 years, over 500 million iPhones have been sold worldwide. 122 million Macs
have been sold throughout 28 years, and up until September 2012, 350 million iPods have been sold.
The numbers are immense and still growing, and there are reasons that explain them. To sustain a
company, one that has sold well over 1 billion self produced units (and counting) (up until today), for
about 21 years total, takes much prudence, determination, and most importantly, leadership. Steve
Jobs, co founder of Apple, Inc., had all three of those traits, and they were always used for the better in
his company. Jobs got the company back up on its feet after rough stock market shares and low sales
caused by competing companies, and led it to success with increasingly innovative products that
rapidly sold nationally at first, then soon internationally. The new ideas that computers such as the
Macintosh put forward into the computer world has set the standard for computers up until the current
day. Steve Jobs innovation and leadership led the company of Apple to create renowned and life
changing products that essentially made the lives of their users easier and changed the world of
technology forever.
Steve Jobs was born on February 24, 1955 in San Francisco and was adopted by Paul and Clara Jobs,

Risk Assessment and Risk Management
Risk assessment and risk management
Introduction
There are many hazards associated in an industrial workplace. With new technologies, new machinery
and constant updates with regulations it is more important now than ever before to produce efficient
risk assessments. Good risk assessments reduce hazards and fatalities in dangerous areas in the
workplace. A good risk assessment will make workers feel safer and therefore happier and promotes a
good business structure within the company. A good risk assessment will help prevent legal action
against the company therefore saving the company money.
Identifying Hazards
When looking at a general workshop there are several hazards that could potentially cause an accident.
In this section, I will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The engineers have to use tools to carry out maintenance work, tools include small pocket knives,
screwdrivers, drills, ratchet sets etc. There is the need of tools to do maintenance so the likelihood of
incidents and accidents is very likely (Frequency: 4), severity is not as bad as there are a lack of
dangerous saws and other dangerous tools etc. Cuts from electrical/ metallic equipment are also likely
as well but shouldn t be too severe (Severity: 3).
Trip/Slip Hazards
Trip hazards come from misplaced boxes, pallets and other items that have been misplaced. Slip
hazards can come from a leaky roof or spilled drink, these incidences can often occur (Frequency: 3)
but they usually don t do too much damage but on rarity can be fatal (Severity: 2).
Oxidising Hazards
There are no real chemicals within the workplace that can cause oxidising problems or need constant
ventilation, therefore any oxidising accidents should be extremely rare (frequency: 1) but if they was a
miraculous incident, it could cause an explosion (Severity: 5).
Environment Hazards
There is waste in the workshop that can be harmful to the environment, such as disposing old batteries
that have Ni Cad Acid which can harm the environment /animals. Waste and rubbish is of a high
quantity and should be exposed of properly using the correct authorities. The amount of rubbish

Forest is the principal constituent of terrestrial ecosystems and shows important parts in sustaining the

productivity of forest is pigeonholed by the appropriate temporal and spatial changeability under the
influence of the climate, the soil and the physiological types of the forest (Davis et al., 2012). Based

clipped based on the block boundary using ERDAS Imagine software v9.0. The NDVI algorithm is
used to extract the forest characteristics. The spectral band3 and band4 is used in this analysis. The
colour density slicing practice is pertained to the data generated by the NDVI technique in order to

the forest categories.
Finally, the change detection (using ERDAS Imagine Software v9.0) technique is applied in order to

The Goal Of The Simulation
STD # 1566303 The goal of the simulation was to use appropriate change levers to persuade a critical

Sustainable development for business and linking the themes of sustainability and innovation was
critical to the company s future. It was a low urgency situation with the CEO trying to be proactive
and to stay ahead of the industry trend to stay competitive. I was not sure how to approach the

apply in what sequence. So the approach that I took was to apply the mass change levers first such as
town hall meetings, companywide emails, clarify organization values, walk the talk, and revise reward
system. I attempted to reach the mass in short period of time. This seemed to be more efficient way to
reach more people in a short time. I applied incremental change levers such as conduct private
interviews, build the coalition support, consultant approval and provide external skill building much
later in the process. Unfortunately, I was not successful in achieving a critical mass of adopters within
the time allotted. Most of my actions had no effect on the organization. My credibility kept going

Around the country, many children are able to conform to teacher made tests and how to navigate
through them, although with standardized tests, they are raw and able to show if a student is really

Leading Causes of Poverty , and income disparity which is leading to many families to not be able to

meet basic needs including food, clothing and shelter. Also In addition to a lack of money, poverty is
about not being able to participate in recreational activities, not being able to send children on a day
trip with their schoolmates or to a birthday party, and not being able to pay for medications for an
illness. Mainly poverty is the state of being extremely poor but not always homeless and unable to pay

Teaching in Australia
Teaching: Complexities In Teacher s Work In Australia The objective of this study is to discuss
important complexities in teacher s work. According to Churchill, et al (2013) The commitment to
teaching brought to the studies and careers of teachers confirms that today s teachers and teachers
previously genuinely love to learn and have a great desire to teach. Churchill et al (2013) states that
this deep commitment to humanity and making a difference in the lives of the next generation are
among the qualities of people drawn to a career in teaching. (p.4) Some students are able to recall the
teacher that transformed their lives and as stated by an experienced teacher and teacher educator
Whatever the situation the influence teachers have on their students I long lasting and can be
profound. Good teaching makes a difference in the lives of children and young people. (Pugach, 2009,
p.1 in: Churchill, et al, 2013, p.4) The experiences of students in the classroom result in children
discovering their potential for the future and in acquiring the necessary knowledge as well as the skills
needed to follow their dreams for the future as well as in their development of beliefs, attitudes, and
behaviors toward society. (Church, et al, 2013, p.4) Churchill, et al states that teaching as a profession
in the twenty first century involves the apprenticeship of observation. 2013, p.5) Teaching in the
present also is characterized by both continuity and change . (Churchill, et

Mrs Bennet Married In Today s Society
In the 19th century, it was a common practice for families to marry off their daughters for wealth and
security rather than love. Mrs. Bennet, a character who lives in that century wanted her daughters to
get married so that she can live a secure and comfortable life. However, as time progress people
viewed marriage as a way to express one s feeling towards each other. Fewer people relied upon
marriage as a way of boosting their status. And eventually, many western cultures and societies today
adopted the concept of marrying for endearment rather than security. If Mrs. Bennet lived in today s
society it becomes difficult for her to get integrated due to the way her character is portrayed, and how
little regards she has for her daughters.

They worry about the things they do, and the people they associate themselves with. We eventually
understand and come to appreciate them. In Mrs. Bennet s case, financial security and status outweigh
her daughters. When Mrs. Bennet first hears about Jane s invitation to Mr. Bingley s home
(Netherfield Park) she tells Jane to go on horseback (Austen 26). Knowing that the rain will make
Jane severely sick, she disregards it and proceeds with her scheme. From this, it shows Mrs. Bennet as
a selfish person. She hardly ever considers her daughter s well being unless it benefits her financially.
Some argue that Mr. Bennet s eventual death caused Mrs. Bennet to risk Jane s health. It makes sense
because if Mr. Bennet dies, then Mrs. Bennet loses her comfortable lifestyle. On the other hand, most
people that read this novel and delve deep into Mrs. Bennet s character understand that her actions
remain inexcusable. Her irresponsible actions show that she is desperate to keep her high status.
Moreover, her disregard for Jane shows that she is not suited to be a mother. Overall, Mrs. Bennet s
actions throughout the novel reveal that she will only cause more trouble in our society than help

The Behavior Of Organisms, An Experimental Analysis Essay
In 1938, B.F. Skinner published The Behaviour of Organisms, An experimental analysis. The
publication documented Skinner s findings in several experiments he conducted with the aim of
explaining how organisms learn behaviours and how this knowledge could be used to teach them new
ones. Skinner was a behaviourist and was therefore interested in overt behaviours that could be
observed and recorded. In his publication, he defines behaviour as follows, Behaviour is what an
organism is doing or more accurately what it is observed by another organism to be doing. (Skinner,
1938). While classical conditioning is passive, operant conditioning requires the learner to actively
operate on their environment. Therefore, operant conditioning mainly relies on the learner making
voluntary responses, for example, pushing the buttons on a TV remote to select a desired channel. In
Skinner s experiment, the learner was a white rat who was placed in a small chamber where there is
only a lever and tray upon which food pellets were dispensed. The experiment required the rat to stand
on its hind legs and press down on the lever with a force of at least 10g in order for a food pellet to be
dispensed. Of course, the rat s first few presses of the lever would be purely accidental, but gradually
the rat learned that if he wanted a pellet, pressing down on the lever would cause one to fall into the
feeding tray. Skinner experimented further, adjusting the lever so that the rat would have to apply

Controversy Over The Use Of Plastic Bags
A single plastic bag can kill over one hundred dolphins. Plastic bags are often eaten by marine life.
The plastic will starve and kill the animals. This litter may not decompose for one thousand years and
will continue to find more victims... written by an anonymous person. Recently, there has been
controversy as a consequence of the decision the government has made to charge a fee to whoever
receives plastic bags or ban them completely in certain US stores. People disagree and believe that we
shouldn t spend money on plastic bags and that it is futile. The alternative side states a plastic bag fee
will aid our struggling environment and the U.S s economy. The quote clearly demonstrates how
destructive plastic bags are, it is affecting the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As I stated, plastic bags harm the environment tremendously and we should do anything we can to
decrease its usage. The opposing side may say that alternatives I have given such as reusable bags,
provide additional harm to the environment than plastic bags because of they are produced. However,
the effect of plastic bags massively outweighs that of reusable bags because reusable bags are being
utilized consistently and they re not thrown out so they aren t harming any animals. Plastic bags are
mostly being thrown out, and that harms the environment way more. To provide evidence on the
significant aid the plastic bag ban or fee has brought, the Upfront magazine article Should There Be a
Fee on Plastic Bags? indicates , It s hard to believe that a small charge could have such a big impact
on protecting our environment. But according to research, the fee has already proven its effectiveness
in reducing plastic or paper bag use in..Washington D.C, Los Angeles, Germany and England. Some
experts predict that a 5 cent fee will lead to a 60 90 percent reduction in the use of plastic bags in
NYC. This piece of evidence brings awareness to the massive assistance plastic bag fees have brought
and will continue to bring to the US and potentially the entire world. The fee has made a

Rhetorical Strategies In The Antiwar Protest
The Antiwar Protest of the late 1950s and early 1960s was a successful protest movement that utilized
effective protest politics as defined by Zoe Trodd in her book, American Protest Literature. The
effectiveness of the protest was due to the movement causing the American public to challenge their
belief in the nation s leaders capacity to provide unquestionable truths and due to the protest placing a
colossal amount of powerful pressure on the nation s leaders.(Zimmerman) Many historians believe
the success of the protest led to a change in policy and a change in the American public s view of
politicians.(Zimmerman)
The Antiwar Protest began in the late 1950s and early 1960s.(Zimmerman) The protest effort was
centered around two groups: peace groups formed by left wing activists that opposed the Cold War
and America s interference in other countries and a group of students that felt the government was
high handed and unjust, Students for a Democratic Society (SDS). (Zimmerman) These groups had a
mission to educate the public about Vietnam and convert large amounts of Americans around to their
antiwar agenda.(Zimmerman) Early on, the groups formulated a plan to bring about the change they
sought by using the press, literature, music, and the public domain.(Zimmerman) The Antiwar Protest
used three rhetorical strategies: empathy, shock value, and symbolic actions.(Trodd) Of the three
strategies, the movement relied most heavily on shock value. Bill Zimmerman, an

  • 2. Voluntaryly Childless Couples Be fruitful and multiply, this is the word of the Lord. However, this is now being challenged by some married couples as there is an increasing rate of married couples choosing to remain childless. The traditional definition of a family is defined as a man and a woman living together with child /children. However, a new family type has emerged, such as voluntary childless couples. In this family type the couple is married and is fully capable of biological reproduction, but have no intention of doing so. Thus, voluntary childlessness among a married couple exists for a number of reasons: due to achieving a higher level of educational attainment, so as to pursue a higher standard of living and fear that children will potentially cause an unhappy marriage. Because of achieving a higher level of educational attainment, some married couples choose to remain childless. The household childlessness rate is strongly linked to married couples with high educational level. For example, the Australian Bureau of Statistics indicated that the proportion of couples aged 45 49 years who were childless increased with higher level of educational attainment. The statistics highlighted that the highest proportion of childless married couples were among those with a bachelor degree or higher (20%), compared with 12% of those with an undergraduate or associate diploma. Couples with no post school qualifications had the lowest level of childlessness (9%). It is seen that the delaying of child ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Neanderthals, Ancestors to Human Beings Essay The most recent ancestor to the modern human, Homo neanderthalensis existed between 300,000 and 35,000 years ago. Originating in Africa, ancestors of the early Neanderthals migrated northwards almost 800,000 years ago. These migrants colonized much of the Old World with the majority based in Europe and small groups scattered throughout the Middle East and Asia. Historically, the Neanderthals were among the most resiliant creatures to exist on Earth. As a population, they thrived during the European ice age 40,000 years ago. This ice age enveloped the majority of Northern and Central Europe and due to their physique were the Neanderthals were able to surive. Their weapons which consisted at most consisted of spears which required confrontational hunting. The average Neanderthal life spanned thirty years due to the extreme physical strain and harsh living conditions of life during this period of Earth s history. Traditionally, Neanderthals have been viewed as large, hulking ape like beings that survived by aggression and power through the harshest conditions possible on earth. They have been painted as unsophisticated and unable to compete with humans on an intellectual level. These academics theorized that superior human intellect and reasoning gave humans the advantage in hunting game and securing the most valuable natural resource, eventually driving the Homo neanderthalensis to extinction 30,000 years ago. Popular culture describes Neanderthals as first viewed by science as large, hulking ape like beings. However, new evidence suggests that one of the first reconstructed Neanderthal skeletons did not consider that the individual suffered from acute arthritis. Despite unique, this Neanderthal s hunching posture was associated with the entire species, giving one the impression of a brutish caveman . This new understanding has reformed research on the Neanderthal and a new understanding of humanity s earliest ancestor By examining Neanderthal tools and utensils one can gain an understanding of the complexity of ... • 4. The Book Of Acts By The Bible The Book of Acts is a book about the beginning of the first Christians and the growth of the Church. Acts explains how Christianity began and also spread about. It explains how Jesus used some of the apostles to teach through the Holy Spirit after ascending into Heaven. The writer of the Book of Acts is the apostle Luke, who gives us insight into the different things the disciples, mainly Peter and Paul, had went through during this time. Luke describes these instances but rarely indicates how Christians today should respond. What would Christianity look like today if only the Book of Acts was written in the New Testament? The Early Church started with Peter, who told the people to repent and be baptized, only then would they receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. After 3,000 were baptized, the very first Church was started. The early Church had a focus on the Bible and it s teachings, the stories the apostles shared, breaking the bread, meal sharing, prayer, and fellowship. Today, Christians might only continue to share stories that the apostles shared, be baptized, pray, and get to know members of their Church if this was the only book written in the New Testament. Peter gives Jesus to people in need in the Book of Acts, and this is a difference in what we don t see sometimes practiced in Churches today. Christians learning to ask Jesus into their heart was a major milestone in the early Church. The Book of Acts, as discussed by Michael Morrison, the author of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The story and theme are two different things by the way. Nonconformity is usually used to give the reader a direct definitions of someone s originality and individuality. In the beginning of Self Reliance by Ralph Waldo Emerson, he says, whoso would be a man be a nonconformist. What he means by that is that if you are good at something, then you should not take it for granted. Many people are good at things and like to brag but that is not how it should be. The fight between the two lasted from 1566 till 1609 until a twelve year truce was signed and The Dutch Republic finally gained it s hard earned independence. The Dutch revolted against the Spanish King mainly because the King wanted to tax ten percent. This can be epitomized by the movie The Bachelorette by Leslye Headland, where a sex worker is shown to ask a client for 300 dollars for a one finger touch of her stomach and is okay with being paid in cocaine rather than money. Sex workers, such as the stripper that was presented in The Bachelorette, are portrayed as workers who only seek to trick men out of more money or drugs, and as women who deserve the hard life of prostitution consequently for their deviant lifestyle choices. This portrayal negatively generalizes sex workers as workers whose primary objective is to scheme in order to have an influx of and an abundance of cash, when in fact many work for less than minimum wage and are working to stay above the poverty line. As Neon Wasteland by Susan Dewey notes many of the workers that started operating in sex work do so after failing to find jobs that can provide them the same amount of income and relative flexibility that sex work provides (Preface). The negative portrayal of sex workers in movies can also be seen in the film Magic Mike by Steven Soderbergh, where the main character strips only as a way to pursue his pastime, and is surrounded by the party lifestyle. This scene contributes to the negative generalization of sex work and portrayal of sex workers as stripping solely for the purpose of an influx of cash as well as a clear dependence on drugs and on the party lifestyle is inaccurate for the majority of sex workers and negatively impacts sex workers ... Additionally, we wrote papers based on textual evidence to argue points in a way on a higher level than I was used to. My argumentative ability evolved from using plot summary into deeply analyzing parts of the text to prove a point. From developing concrete skills to the cultural content I was exposed to, I have grown from this semester in The Human Event. Social Pressures Reflected in Ginsberg s Howl Essay Social Pressures Reflected in Ginsberg s Howl Post World War II America produced a number of images that will be forever imprinted on the minds of Americans. Such images as television shows like Leave It To Beaver and I Love Lucy, movies such as An Affair To Remember, and Brigadoon, are watched frequently even in today s society. But in this world of fairytale movies and the American Dream, what about those who didn t fit into the picture of perfection and prosperity? Such is the same in Howl. Ginsberg does not spare the innocent reader. When one analyzes the social power of Ginsberg s statements, one can come easily to the conclusion that society was not exactly welcoming to Ginsberg, and he reacted to that through his writing, especially in Howl. The second portion of Howl is commonly considered by critics to be the most complicated for the average mind to comprehend. In this section, nearly every thing is described as a Moloch. Moloch, in mythology was a God to whom children were sacrificed. Now, the term is commonly used to describe anything responsible for destroying innocence. In Part II, Ginsberg describes nearly everything about American culture to be a Moloch. Even society s viewpoints are Molochs. In a way, Ginsberg is calling America itself a Moloch, and then continuing to describe parts of the whole. Moloch whose mind is pure machinery! Moloch whose blood is running money! Moloch whose fingers are ten armies! Moloch whose breast is a cannibal dynamo! Moloch whose ear is a smoking tomb! (Ginsberg 21) America is evil to Ginsberg because of the feelings of hatred and repulsion the society builds in him. The third section of Howl is a striking contrast to the other two parts. ... • 23. The Theme Of Identity In Barbie Be whoever you want to be, just not yourself. People are often discouraged from becoming who they want to be due to what is deemed sensible. Most people choose their career based on where they see people like them. This idea averts people from exploring different occupations where they might be more content; and stops people from discovering their strengths. Legally Blonde (2001) directed by Robert Luketic, In Defense of Barbie: Why She Might Be the Most Feminist Doll Around by Charlotte Alter, Mondo Barbie by Lucinda Ebersole and Richard Peabody, Forever Barbie by M.G. Each piece mentioned formerly expresses the idea of identity and how to exceed the limits of it. In this essay, I will summarize each work previously introduce, discuss how the theme of identity is prevalent in each piece, and consider the significance of the theme in each work. Legally Blonde (2001) directed by Robert Luketic suggests that a person s identity does not limit their capabilities to succeed in any way. How Can Freedom Be Demanded Freedom should be demanded, because not everyone listens when you ask for something, if anything people would laugh at these people who want freedom and not take them seriously when they do ask for freedom. If people take a stand and demand what they really want and show they want it and fight for it there would be people standing up with that one person too, then there would be an uprising on how people need freedom and demand it even more. A great example would be the the day Martin Luther King Jr. took a stand and said his word on how there needs to be freedom and how it must be demanded in order for us to get it, the day the pastor took a stand and demanded freedom for his people (blacks) and as he kept saying his word and talking about freedom for the blacks more and more people agreed with him and took a stand. It is a great example of how freedom should be demanded and not given. The reason people would laugh at the people asking for freedom and not take them seriously is because these people would be in a higher class than others and laugh at the people who want the same amount as the these people, they think that they are better than any one of of these people. Pros And Cons Of Whaling Controversy In Norway And Japan Whaling Controversy in Norway and Japan For centuries nations across the globe have hunted a variety of animals to provide for their inhabitants diets and economies, which for some species has resulted in endangerment or extinction. Several species of whale have become endangered because of the process of whale hunting, and in order to combat excessive whale hunting the International Whaling Comission (IWC) set forth a ban in 1986 to halt the whaling industry (International Whaling Comission, n.d.); however, nations such as Norway and Japan insisted that their practices continue on the basis of cultural exception. The economies of their whaling regions, they argued, would be put into danger by the moratorium, and so the nations have been allowed to continue hunting small amounts of the non endangered winke whales and, in some cases, fin whales. Also, it will mean that a quota cannot be surpassed, so only a small amount of whales can be hunted. Churchill et al (2013) states that this deep commitment to humanity and making a difference in the lives of the next generation are among the qualities of people drawn to a career in teaching. (p.4) Some students are able to recall the teacher that transformed their lives and as stated by an experienced teacher and teacher educator Whatever the situation the influence teachers have on their students I long lasting and can be profound. Good teaching makes a difference in the lives of children and young people. • 47. Mrs Bennet Married In Today s Society In the 19th century, it was a common practice for families to marry off their daughters for wealth and security rather than love. Mrs. Bennet, a character who lives in that century wanted her daughters to get married so that she can live a secure and comfortable life. However, as time progress people viewed marriage as a way to express one s feeling towards each other. Fewer people relied upon marriage as a way of boosting their status. And eventually, many western cultures and societies today adopted the concept of marrying for endearment rather than security. If Mrs. Bennet lived in today s society it becomes difficult for her to get integrated due to the way her character is portrayed, and how little regards she has for her daughters. Austen s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They worry about the things they do, and the people they associate themselves with. We eventually understand and come to appreciate them. In Mrs. Bennet s case, financial security and status outweigh her daughters. When Mrs. Bennet first hears about Jane s invitation to Mr. Bingley s home (Netherfield Park) she tells Jane to go on horseback (Austen 26). Knowing that the rain will make Jane severely sick, she disregards it and proceeds with her scheme. From this, it shows Mrs. Bennet as a selfish person. She hardly ever considers her daughter s well being unless it benefits her financially. Some argue that Mr. Bennet s eventual death caused Mrs. Bennet to risk Jane s health. It makes sense because if Mr. Bennet dies, then Mrs. Bennet loses her comfortable lifestyle. On the other hand, most people that read this novel and delve deep into Mrs. Bennet s character understand that her actions remain inexcusable. Her irresponsible actions show that she is desperate to keep her high status. Moreover, her disregard for Jane shows that she is not suited to be a mother. Overall, Mrs. Bennet s actions throughout the novel reveal that she will only cause more trouble in our society than help ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. The Behavior Of Organisms, An Experimental Analysis Essay In 1938, B.F. Skinner published The Behaviour of Organisms, An experimental analysis. The publication documented Skinner s findings in several experiments he conducted with the aim of explaining how organisms learn behaviours and how this knowledge could be used to teach them new ones. Skinner was a behaviourist and was therefore interested in overt behaviours that could be observed and recorded. In his publication, he defines behaviour as follows, Behaviour is what an organism is doing or more accurately what it is observed by another organism to be doing. (Skinner, 1938). While classical conditioning is passive, operant conditioning requires the learner to actively operate on their environment. Therefore, operant conditioning mainly relies on the learner making voluntary responses, for example, pushing the buttons on a TV remote to select a desired channel. In Skinner s experiment, the learner was a white rat who was placed in a small chamber where there is only a lever and tray upon which food pellets were dispensed. The experiment required the rat to stand on its hind legs and press down on the lever with a force of at least 10g in order for a food pellet to be dispensed. Of course, the rat s first few presses of the lever would be purely accidental, but gradually the rat learned that if he wanted a pellet, pressing down on the lever would cause one to fall into the feeding tray. Skinner experimented further, adjusting the lever so that the rat would have to apply ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Recently, there has been controversy as a consequence of the decision the government has made to charge a fee to whoever receives plastic bags or ban them completely in certain US stores. The alternative side states a plastic bag fee will aid our struggling environment and the U.S s economy. The quote clearly demonstrates how destructive plastic bags are, it is affecting the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As I stated, plastic bags harm the environment tremendously and we should do anything we can to decrease its usage. The opposing side may say that alternatives I have given such as reusable bags, provide additional harm to the environment than plastic bags because of they are produced. However, the effect of plastic bags massively outweighs that of reusable bags because reusable bags are being utilized consistently and they re not thrown out so they aren t harming any animals. Plastic bags are mostly being thrown out, and that harms the environment way more. To provide evidence on the significant aid the plastic bag ban or fee has brought, the Upfront magazine article Should There Be a Fee on Plastic Bags? indicates , It s hard to believe that a small charge could have such a big impact on protecting our environment. But according to research, the fee has already proven its effectiveness in reducing plastic or paper bag use in..Washington D.C, Los Angeles, Germany and England. Some experts predict that a 5 cent fee will lead to a 60 90 percent reduction in the use of plastic bags in NYC. This piece of evidence brings awareness to the massive assistance plastic bag fees have brought and will continue to bring to the US and potentially the entire world. The fee has made a ... • 50. Rhetorical Strategies In The Antiwar Protest The Antiwar Protest of the late 1950s and early 1960s was a successful protest movement that utilized effective protest politics as defined by Zoe Trodd in her book, American Protest Literature. The effectiveness of the protest was due to the movement causing the American public to challenge their belief in the nation s leaders capacity to provide unquestionable truths and due to the protest placing a colossal amount of powerful pressure on the nation s leaders.(Zimmerman) Many historians believe the success of the protest led to a change in policy and a change in the American public s view of politicians.(Zimmerman) The Antiwar Protest began in the late 1950s and early 1960s.(Zimmerman) The protest effort was centered around two groups: peace groups formed by left wing activists that opposed the Cold War and America s interference in other countries and a group of students that felt the government was high handed and unjust, Students for a Democratic Society (SDS). (Zimmerman) These groups had a mission to educate the public about Vietnam and convert large amounts of Americans around to their antiwar agenda.(Zimmerman) Early on, the groups formulated a plan to bring about the change they sought by using the press, literature, music, and the public domain.(Zimmerman) The Antiwar Protest used three rhetorical strategies: empathy, shock value, and symbolic actions.(Trodd) Of the three strategies, the movement relied most heavily on shock value.
