Juvenile Justice And Juvenile Delinquency
Juvenile Justice has been a work in progress from the beginning of the program because of the
evolving mentality of the generations. The purpose of Juvenile Justice was to correct the behavior
of the juvenile delinquents and rehabilitation through a probationary period monitored by an
individual who paid for bail and periodically reported behavior changes to courts. (Mulligan 2009)
We do justice to the youth offenders by understanding the history of Juvenile Justice restorative
programs, the alternatives to incarceration, and how to help them amend their actions and behavior.
The history of Juvenile Justice went from incarceration with adults to reform back to incarceration
in separate facilities and similar rights as adult offenders.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Because of the efforts, juvenile court spread to 46 states by 1925. (Eskin, 1991) Constitutional
rights were given to juvenile offenders in 1967, when the Juvenile Justice was under scrutiny for
unfair treatment. A Supreme Court reviewed a case that sentenced a 15 year old Gerald Gault to
detention until the age of 21 for making an obscene phone call. The Supreme Court case determined
that juveniles are entitled to many of the same adult rights and have the right to know their charges,
have legal representation, and the right not to testify against their own selves. (Eskin, 1991) It is
beneficial for society to know and understand the Restorative programs and how juveniles can
amend their actions and correct their behavior. (Hagan and King 1992) Juvenile Justice is often
thought of as dealing with juveniles who commit theft or unruly. Society today has to face the
reality that the current generation of juveniles are committing crimes such as murder, drug
offenses, and sexual assaults. Restorative justice is known through objectives and in contrast to the
former retributive and rehabilitative beliefs of punishment. (Mulligan 2009) Community based
juvenile justice programs focus on developing the competency development of the youth offender
to ensure the youth successful completion of the programs in order to exit the juvenile justice
system and become contributing law abiding members of the community. The

Group Dynamics
GROUP DYNAMICS
The social process by which people interact and behave in a group environment is called group
dynamics. Group dynamics involves the influence of personality, power, and behaviour on the
group process. Group dynamics is the study of groups, and also a general term for group processes.
Relevant to the fields of psychology, sociology, and communication studies, a group is two or
more individuals who are connected to each other by social relationships. Because they interact and
influence each other, groups develop a number of dynamic processes that separate them from a
random collection of individuals.
These processes include norms, roles, relations, development, need to belong, social influence, and
effects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2. Storming: In this stage, the group is likely to see the highest level of disagreement and conflict.
Members often challenge group goals and struggle for power. Individuals often vie for the
leadership position during this stage of development. This can be a positive experience for all
groups if members can achieve cohesiveness through resolution. Members often voice concern
and criticism in this phase. If members are not able to resolve the conflict, then the group will
often disband or continue in existence but will remain ineffective and never advance to the other
stages. 3. Norming: This stage is characterized by the recognition of individual differences and
shared expectations. Hopefully, at this stage the group members will begin to develop a feeling of
group cohesion and identity. Cooperative effort should begin to yield results. Responsibilities are
divided among members and the group decides how it will evaluate progress. 4. Performing:
Performing, occurs when the group has matured and attains a feeling of cohesiveness. During this
stage of development, individuals accept one another and conflict is resolved through group
discussion. Members of the group make decisions through a rational process that is focused on
relevant goals rather than emotional issues. 5. Adjourning: Not all groups experience this stage of
development because it is characterized by the disbandment of the group. Some groups are relatively

The Behavioral Theory Of Depression
Depression is a mood disorder which is categorised by low mood and a wide range of other
symptoms, which will inevitably differ depending on the individual. This mental health illness can
either progress at a fast rate or steadily. Many scientific and medicinal professionals view
depression as a defence mechanism that the body implements in order to escape from stress.
Seligman (1973) discussed depression in terms of it being like a common cold of psychiatry, due to
how frequently it is diagnosed. The behaviourist approach accentuates the significance of the
environment in regards to determining an individual s behaviour. To behaviourist theorists, our
behaviour does not relate with our internal unconscious struggles or suppressions. However,
psychologists in this field use ideologies of the learning theory to explain human behaviour.
According to the behavioural theory, dysfunctional behaviour such as depression is learned and so
because of this, psychologists propose that it can also be unlearned. This perspective focuses on
behaviour which is observable and the circumstances in which a particular individual has learnt that
behaviour. As a result, depression is therefore seen by behaviourist theorists as a result of an
individual s contact with their environment.
Classical conditioning would suggest that depression is cultured through the connotation of certain
stimuli s with undesirable emotional states. Operant conditioning believes that depression is
instigated by

My Life Of High School
When people used to tell me that high school would be the best four years of my life, I never
seemed to believe them. Looking at where I am today makes me believe them when they say that
high school will also be the fastest four years of my life. It is crazy to even think that just yesterday
I was mentally preparing myself to walk into the doors of Lasalle Peru High School, and today I am
mentally preparing myself to walk out of the doors of Streator High School. Time truly does fly
when you are having fun, I wish I could go back just to feel everything one more time. I
remember the first day of high school as a freshman, I walked in with an aircast on my right
ankle because I had fractured it a few weeks before. I remember walking in with a shirt that said
Totally Monday , a grey sweater, and with salmon colored shorts. My hair was long, I had
braces, clear skin, and an attitude that showed how excited I was for a change. I came from a
small school in a small town, so going to LP was a huge change for me. We had Link Leaders
running around the first day to guide the freshman around the school which was exciting. Another
thing that was exciting was the hot lunches that they had there! I was so excited to have hot
lunch everyday, when I was in grade school they didn t serve hot food everyday. I remember the
first time I sang an original song on stage, and the senior drama club members pulled me off stage
and physically walked me to go and sign up for the musical which was

Beethoven Seventh Symphony Analysis
Pratt Carrol stated that Music is the language of emotion, and emotions tend to be the same the
world over, in spite of differences in social customs and language. In other words, music is a
fabulous expression of the human being no matter the culture or norms because it manages to
immediately transmit different feelings and emotions that other forms of art may not transmit.
For my Introduction to music class I decided, to write about the Seventh Symphony in A major (Op.
92) by Ludwig van Beethoven. The reason why I choose this symphony is because it s an emotional
piece of music, and it definitely catch my attention since the moment I heard it. I feel this
symphony reach emotional situations that are above human explosions. Emotional areas that
invade us through a contradictory fact between feelings. The Seventh Symphony in A major by
Beethoven appears in 1813. The orchestra contains two flutes, two oboes, two clarinets in A, two
bassoons, two horns in A (E and D in the inner movements), two trumpets in D, timpani, and strings.
Beethoven insisted on directing it at its premiere, with tragicomic results. The critics recognized a
new genius of Beethoven; even today there are experts who consider it as the best of their
symphonies. Richard Wagner, another fervent Beethovenian, describe this symphony as all tumult,
all yearning and storming of heart into the blissful insolence of joy, which snatches us away with
bacchanalian might. For its relentless dance rhythm and

Puritans And The American Ethos And Democratic Spirit
Puritans founded America, and for roughly two centuries, defined American culture. Their
zealousness has created cultural backlashes to many progressive movements, but also organized
community picnics, sent aid to impoverished populations (albeit with perverse logic), and
comforted millions of Americans, both now and in the past, facing an uncertain world. Tocqueville
unequivocally professed the proverbial glue Puritanism has on the American ethos and democratic
spirit: Puritanism was not merely a religious doctrine, but it corresponded in many points with the
most absolute democratic and republican theories. But American religiosity is diminishing. Other
forces like materialism, globalism, humanism, and science continue to push the world into a new
frontier. Between 2007 and 2014, adults who are religiously affiliated dropped 6%; though, 77%
percent of Americans are religiously affiliated and 58% find religion very important and those
who identify strongly with religion continue to have the same intensity in belief. With the election
of Donald Trump, many see the dark side of this puritan spirit rising, the parts entangled with our
country s deepest, darkest roots: more racism, sexism, and jingoism. Undeniably, more of these
insidious weeds have sprouted in our democratic field as of late, despite always being hidden a
mere few feet below the surface. Reports continue to abound of individuals being harassed, lockers
covered in phrases like White America, and Muslim

Breakdown The Global Issue Of Health
In chapter twelve, Snarr talks breakdown the global issue of health. The chapter broadens the
definition of healthcare to not only just fighting off diseases, but also takes the well being of human
being into consideration. The major problems we encounter today in the world are in nutritional
health, infectious diseases, reproductive health, and mental health issues. The chapter also breaks
down each major problem and how it might have different effects based on the regions, and the role
of education in healthcare. We see throughout the chapter how problems affect the developed
countries and the developing countries differently. Finally, the chapter shows the success of
treatment and the ongoing battle that the world is dealing with today.
Nutritional health according to Snarr has different objectives for example; N. America wants to
achieve a trans fat free food, while Africa and S. America people are undernourished. For our
chapter, good nutrition means having good amounts of proteins, vitamins, fats, minerals, and
calories to have good health and growth. Food security is explained as ability to get and keep
food which depends on the amount of land for farming and the population of a region. Political
conflicts, disease, welfare, and climate are major factors that affect food security. Undernutrition is
a key problem in developing world and it has major consequences like speeding up the rate of
disease and slowing down worker productivity. While overnutrition is a problem

The Boom Of Dystopian Literature
Dystopian literature established the basis of a modern day science fiction novel manuscripts
reflecting a merge between previous books and today society conflicts. Critics determined that
twenty century culture conflicts and deterioration open the door for the writer s imagination
determining the parameters to develop a dystopian society mostly similar to the actual. The boom
of dystopian novels and works was the response of a government crisis, worldwide conflicts and
society oppression due to the loss of hope and a chaotic loneliness. For the reader and writers,
dystopiais not a far destiny, on the contrary, is what they are living in the past, present and

Aziz Choudry Fight Back Analysis
Beginning a new life is not easy. Migrants who yearn for refuge, hope and prosperity often select
Canada for its proudly proclaimed multicultural society given its abundance of opportunities.
However, many are left deeply disappointed. Aziz Choudry et al. endeavours to expose the stark
untold reality awaiting many Canadian migrants who long for an improved life. Fight Back;
Workplace Justice for Immigrants provides a comprehensive overview detailing the endless
adversities surrounding employment, social discrimination and exploitation, vividly accented by
the very migrants battling at the forefront.
Fight Back commences with a broad historical analysis examining the implications of unscrupulous
neoliberal tactics. Neo liberalism, defined by the author as the underlying backbone of intensified
political policies on multiculturalism, employment, and immigration coupled with increasing
privatization is largely to blame for the rise of precarious work in Canada. The author theorizes a

How Did The Czech Republic Influence The World
Ask the average American to name one influential person from the Czech Republic and you will
likely be met with blank stares. However, without the Czech people, the world would look a lot
different. Imagine a world without Protestantism, without universal education, without contact
lenses. Then, the cultural influence of the Czech Republicbecomes clear.
A century before Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to a church door, Czech priest Jan Hus had
already begun protesting the Catholic church. Although he was burned at the stake for heresy, he
left behind writings that later helped spark the Protestant Reformation, an event that would change
the course of history forever. A Czech man also changed education forever. It is difficult to find a...

In the aftermath of World War II, the Soviet Uniontook control of Czechoslovakia. These
communist rulers encouraged the arts as long as artists supported communist rule. Ironically, it
would be the arts that led to their downfall. A group of writers pushing for an end to censorship led
to the start of Prague Spring, a hopeful time of democratic reforms in the 1960s. However, the
Soviet army brutally crushed this peaceful revolt shortly after. The Czech people could have been
discouraged by this, disillusioned by the thought of using peace as a method for throwing off
oppression. But they were not. In 1989, another writer, this time a playwright by the name of
Vaclav Havel, again led a peaceful revolution. The Velvet Revolution successfully ended
Communism in the Czech Republic and led to the democracy the Czech Republic enjoys today. The
fighters in this revolution were not armies, but artists. Across the country, theater companies
advocated for strikes and protest. This revolution showed that the biggest threat to communism
came from neither weaponry nor militaries, but from art and the uniting of the common people. As
president of the newly independent Czechoslovakia, Havel allowed the nation to split in two
without any fighting or bloodshed. As ethnic conflicts ravaged Yugoslavia and destroyed Rwanda,
Czechoslovakia demonstrated a peaceful resolution of

Healing Emotional Trauma Research Paper
Healing emotional trauma
Emotional wounds are as real as physical bleeding wounds, and can affect every aspect of your life.
You are at risk, regardless if you are a direct victim or somehow exposed to extreme, unpredictable
and uncontrollable life threatening events such as war, natural disasters, accidents, rape, physical or
sexual assault, kidnapping, domestic violence, workplace or school bullying, physical or emotional
abuse.
PTSD ASD, STS and AD, are clinical conditions associated with traumatic events or post traumatic
stress. Although most people associate these conditions with extreme life threatening situations, not
everyone with a form of traumatic stress has been through such dangerous events.
Even though the emotional trauma seems to be a highly individual experience, trans generational
PTSD like or hereditary trauma and behavioral patterns may be transmitted across generations
through the process of parental epigenetic programming. Thus, traumatic experiences can be passed
down from generation to generation, such that children 6 years and younger may suffer from
preschool PTSD and display similar behavioral issues as their parents, or their ancestors. In a similar
way, complex tragenerational transmitted information helps the fourth generation of Monarch
butterfly descendants find theyr way and return to exactly the same wintering sites as their grand
grandparent left the winter before. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Henrik Ibsen personifies his personal beliefs through his choice of characters in A Doll s House.
Ibsen describes his main character, Nora, as someone who is innocent, childlike, very much so

that she is someone with no power in her relationship and is someone with very little control over

Current Drug Treatments And Its Effects
Current drug treatments are limited to those which only offer symptomatic relief that may not be
seen in all patients rather than treatments which target and slow disease progression (Anand, Gill
Mahdi 2014; Nelson Tabet 2015). Only two types of drugs have been approved for the symptomatic
treatment of AD, acetylcholineesterase inhibitors (AChEIs) and В¬N methyl D asparate (NMDA)
receptor antagonists (Anand, Gill Mahdi 2014; Nelson Tabet 2015). There are three approved
AChEIs, Donepezil (Aricept), Rivastigmine (Exelon) and Galantamine (Razadyne), along with a
fourth cholinesterase inhibitor Tacrine which is no longer readily used due to hepatotoxicity
(Watkins et al. 1994) and one NMDA, Memantine (Namenda) (Nelson Tabet 2015).... Show more

However, these treatments have so far only proved effective throughout the initial stages of the
disease; as once the disease has progressed further the drugs no longer offer adequate symptomatic
relief (Rogers Friedhoff 1996; Small et al. 2005; Wilkinson Murray 2001).
More recently the first NMDA drug uncompetitive receptor antagonist, memantine was approved for
clinical use in management and treatment of moderate to severe AD (Anand, Gill Mahdi 2014). It
is currently the only approved drug for the treatment of moderate to severe AD; and a review
conducted by (Revett et al. 2013) concluded that meantime had a significant effect on slowing
cognitive decline and on the ability of patient to complete every day activities. It seemed to have no
effect on patients with mild AD (Schneider et al. 2014) and displayed inconsistent results when
used in conjunction with existing AChEI treatments (Nelson Tabet 2015). Memantine aims to
prevent the occurrence of increased pathological influx of Ca2+ ions, during temporal and spatial
convergent activation of glutamatergic synapses throughout learning and memory process (Danysz
Parsons 2012). As previously stated glutamatergic neurons are affected towards the later stages of
AD, and results in an accumulation of glutamate and increase NMDA receptor activity resulting in
excitotoxicity; inadvertently causing the death of central neurons (Revett et al. 2013).

Philosophy is about questioning everything in life in the world we live in. Without the questioning
and wondering in life then philosophy would be worthless. The great philosopher Socrates
acknowledge this and therefore he would wonder everything in life making him a wise man not
because he knew everything but because what ever wisdomhe has comes from his knowledge that
he knows nothing. After Socratesbeing sentenced to death penalty for corrupting the young, by
not believing in the gods in which the city believed in. During the trial Socrates claimed an
unexamined life is not worth living . Making it one of the biggest influence for everybody in
today s world. Many philosophers have given a lot of that on what he may had tried to say in
which ended made the inference that for Socrates living meant to be able to questioneverything
around him. With that being said an examined life would be to be precautious with all your
decisions and to question everything in our surroundings to have knowledge and that kind of
life would be worth living. In today s life we live in world full of decisions in which it helps it
shape our whole world. One bad decision and your whole life could change. Therefore,
questioning all our decision sounds like the most equitable thing to do since we would be making
conscious ethical decisions. Which is why an unexamined life would not be worth living since you
would be living a life in which you never really end up learning from all your mistakes.

A Connecticut Yankee Character Analysis
Mark Twain combines two distinct time periods in his novel, A Connecticut Yankee in King
Arthur s Court. Born in the 19th century, character Hank Morgan wakes up one day to find
himself in the 6th century. Morgan quickly takes advantage of his newfound place in a primeval
society and establishes power through the introduction of technology. Some critics believe that
Morgan s desire for power leads to his corruption. Two notable critics, Arthur Shattuck O Keefe
and Jane Gardiner, bash Morgan and see through his lies and make believe, asserting how the
Yankee ruined his own vision of bringing the 19th century to the 6th century. As a whole, Morgan s
arrogance and hypocrisy leads to both the growth and eventual collapse of his ideal, utopian
society. Hank Morgan represents a corrupt individual who represses opposing ideologies that go
against his plans for rebuilding society. He shows determination to get what he wants as he makes
change in King Arthurs domain, not letting any opponent stand in his way. Arthur Shattuck O
Keefe takes a close look at Morgan s persistence, causing him to believe that it drives the Yankee
to the point of complete arrogance and desire for absolute rule. O Keefe addresses Morgan s
shift of power in his work, The Morally Imperative Lie in Twain s Connecticut Yankee, stating
that Hank Morgan is a malignant (if not totalitarian) authority figure (O Keefe). It can be
deduced that Morgan uses his power to the highest extent and shows no sympathy as he passes
through the various ranks in King Arthur s court. There is even a point where Morgan passes
the King, as in the book it was mentioned how [He] was no shadow the king... The king himself
was the shadow (Twain 44). It was at this point where The Boss assumes the highest political
power. However, he furthermore looked to make changes with his newfound role. He later plans
possible intrusions with the Church, the most powerful force at the time. He mentions how people
in society see the hand of that awful power, the Roman Catholic Church (Twain 46). It is at this
point where Morgan is just one step away from holding complete dominance. His arrogance blocks
out any outside noise, however, as he was told on numerous occasions to be

A Brief History of the Life of Anne Boleyn, An Outline Essay
Anne Boleyn: A Brief History
Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about the life of Anne Boleyn and the impact she had on
the English monarchy.
Introduction I. Attention Getter: I am come hither to accuse no man, nor to speak anything of
that, whereof I am accused and condemned to die, but I pray God save the king and send him long
to reign over you, for a gentler nor a more merciful prince was there never: and to me he was ever a
good, a gentle and sovereign lord. (Anne Boleyn Bio, 2013) II. Credibility Statement: A growing
interest in the development of the Tudor family led me to research some information on my own,

The Federalist No. 10 Summary
The Federalist No.10 was written by James Madison. The main purpose of this paper was to
make people see that there was a different kind of factions. This essay talks about how
Republican government is taken in consideration by the constitution .Having a republic and
looking at democracy is important in many ways. It all depends on how large a republic is and
what the results it can have. In the first paragraph, it talks about how a well constructed union
needs to be able to control the violence of a faction. There are problems in factions ,for example
the governments are too unstable, public goods are disregard in the conflict of rival parties,
measures are too often decided not according to the rules of justice and the rights of the minor
parties, but by the superior force of an interested and overbearing majority . Majority rule overruns
minorities or the rights of minorities.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Madison thinks that the majorities are going to take over and go over the rights of others and he
says that participatory democracy is not good. For Madison, there were only two ways to
control a faction, this was by removing the cause and controlling the effect of a faction. When
Madison says that liberty is to faction as the air is to fire , it means that air can feed the fire and
liberty cannot be controlled by anyway with factions is the same because it cannot be controlled.
Federalist papers are more focus on how it is going to control the effects of the factions. A way to
control an effect of a faction was with a

Analysis of The Frivolity of Evil Essay
Dalrymple s Thesis In his 2004 City Journal article, Theodore Dalrymple expresses his view on the
tremendous decline in the quality of life in Great Britain. He believed that society has accepted the
notion that people are not responsible for their own problems. Also, that it is the moral cowardice
of the intellectual and political elites that perpetuates the social dynamics that are responsible for
the continuing decline of British society. According to the author, a physician about to retire after a
career treating criminal justice offenders and victims, there are several pervasive misconceptions
that explain the continuing decline of British society. The first misconception claims that there is
the notion that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The following point is reinforced by detailing the dynamic between physicians and patients in
relation to the contemporary treatment of depression. He describes the doctor as an enabler who
stands as an obstacle. The said doctor prevents the patient s ability to understand that what we
typically refer to as depression, is nothing more than the predictable emotions associated with
unhappiness after making bad life choices. Dalrymple implies that physicians cannot help most of
their depressed patients without abandoning their profession s commitment to objective disinterest
in the voluntary choices of patients. In order to validate his third point, Dalrymple recounts some
of the examples of the direct causative relationship between bad choices made by patients (and
victims) he has encountered. Specifically, he explains how easily any person of reasonable
intelligence could have, and should have been able to avoid making the decisions that were
responsible for the situations precipitating their encounter with him in a clinical setting. They
include battered and abused women who continually choose exactly the kind of men who
obviously pose related risks, as well as irresponsible men and women who repeatedly

Music Of The 60s Help Shape Modern Australian Society
In what ways did music in the 60s help shape modern Australian society People today are still
living off the table scraps of the sixties. They are still being passed around the music and the ideas.
This was pronounced by Bob Dylan, a folk musician of the sixties: an era in which the music
heavily influenced the culture of the time and continues to influence the music and culture today.
The music and artists of the 60s influenced radio and television, the music, fashion and lifestyles of
the people, particularly youth, heavily influenced the popular culture Australia, USA, Britain and
other Western Countries. The music of the swinging 60s especially influenced the lives of many

The genre started out as a more instrumental genre, with pioneering bands like Dick Dale and the
Del Tones, usually with leading electric guitars but soon evolved into the more vocal surf pop,
commonly associated with the Beach Boys. This then evolved into a genre known as Hot Rod
Rock, which is was instrumental surf rock music with lyrics more about cars and girls to appeal
to teenaged boys. The influences of the surf music that came out in the 60s can be seen in today
s surf music, with bands such as The Break, Los Fantasticos, and The Sharkskins clearly
expressing the likes of 60s surf musician Dick Dale. By mid 60s, the rock n roll stars including
Elvis Presley, Johnny Horton, Lloyd Price and other acts that were popular earlier in the decade
and the previous decade and even the newer surf music began to be overtaken by the British bands
that emerged and dominated the charts. The British Invasion acts include Beatles, The Animals,
The Who, Herman s Hermits, Tom Jones, and Donovan. By the late 1960s, the American
psychedelic and acid rock movements had filtered into Australia. This type of music then evolved
into progressive rock and other genres of music that are still popular today. Music has always been

art of china Essay examples
China has the world s oldest living civilization. It s written history goes back almost 3,500 years,
and the history told by it s artifacts and artwork goes back much farther. The oldest known works
of Chinese art include pottery and jade carvings from the time of 5000 BC. Jade is a general
term used to describe either jadeite or nephrite, known as true jade. It s composed of several
minerals. It s smooth and rich in texture, but it s also extremely tough. It can be off white, or dark
green, and sometimes has a reddish tint. Authentic jade is cool and never translucent. The
philosopher Confucius described jade perfectly when he said: quot;It is soft, smooth and shining

Although other countries also created China, the pottery originated in Asia. French porcelain was
inspired by the delicate white work from the Ting dynasty, and Clue and white Dutch Delft
porcelain was modeled after pottery from the Ming dynasty.
Pottery started out as functional, but became more ornamental as the centires continued. the themes
of the painted and carved porcelain were mostly nature scenes, but they were also from folklore.
Artrists originaly molded the clay with their hands and set it in the sun to try. Eventualy they began
to use a potter s wheel, and they used a glaze at the same time as the romans.
During the Tang dynasty, Chinese pottery began to develop it s own distict style. They used the
first colored glazes, and underglaze painting. The best pottery came from the time between the
Sung dynasty and the Ming times, when the King hired officials to work in his court strictly as
potters. When these artists made mistakes in their work (cracks or drips), they used the mistakes
to create a picture, such as turning a crack into a tree, or a drip into a teardrop.
Although painting was not China s first form of art, it is probably the most important and
dominating form today. Chinese paintings have always tried to capture philosophy as well as
details. 1,400 years ago, Hsieh Ho, made six basic laws for painting, which artists in China still
follow today. They

Billy Budd, And The Fiery Bucephalus
Melville describes Billy in a sexual manner within the first few pages, introducing the sexual
language almost immediately. He is the handsome sailor compared to the young Alexander and
the fiery Bucephalus (Melville 6). Further down the same page he is described as, always
attractive in masculine conjunction and goes under the nickname Baby Budd (Melville 6). There
is immediately a sense of sexual attraction attached to the title character. He is described in sexual
terms and presented as a prime physical example of a man. Inciting feelings of attraction and a
sense of tranquility within the men around him, the reader is shown right away that this is natural
when it comes to Billy Budd. Additionally, due to the fact that the feelings Billy Budd incites in
people are introduced within the first few pages of the novella, the reader feels that it is a natural
part of the story throughout it. The description of Budd s attraction continues from chapter one, into
chapter two. His physical attractivenessis exhaustedly described and it works to allow the reader
to see just how easy it is to fall for the handsome sailor. He is compared to the Hercules of Greek
mythology, a handsome and shapely figure, and to Biblical Adam. The novella reads, Budd, In

yet smooth face all but feminine in purity of natural complexion but where, thanks to seagoing, the

Neil Postman
Throughout the span of the past few weeks I have traversed the globe, visiting several countries
and regions, only to realize that although new methods develop, language as a way of expressing
ones self has remained the most effective. Despite this fact, language still has its pitfalls. Neil
Postman, in his essay #8220;Defending Against the Indefensible, #8221; outlines seven concepts
that can be used to aid a student in better understanding the language as a means of communication.
He describes how modern teaching methods leave a student vulnerable to the #8220;prejudices of
their elders #8221;, further stating that a good teacher must always be skeptical. He urges teachers
of all subjects to break free from traditional teachings as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Postman argues that if a student were to see hidden meaning in a word, then they could use it to
their defense. It is my belief that Postman may be correct now, what about in the future. If
attention were turned to smaller words, then surely our vocabulary will diminish, and the same
thing that happened to words such as true, and false, will happen to words such as semantic, and
pedagogical. Vocabulary tests should be left as they are. If a student wishes to study words of
everyday use, read a book, or watch television. The next principle was thought provoking as well.
The use of a metaphor as a tool in education is rarely used, as Postman notes. #8220;Unless our
students are aware of how metaphors shape arguments, organize perceptions, and control feelings,
their understanding is severely limited. Postman displays how most political speeches are laced
with metaphors, and how teacher #8217;s methods are shaped by a metaphor. A student who
doesn #8217;t understand a metaphor, or when it is being applied tends to have a more closed
outlook. A metaphor, used as a communication skill, is best described in a political way. Think of
Reagan #8217;s Voodoo economics, or Bill Clinton building a bridge to the 21st century. Politicians
can easily scam an ignorant voter, should one not understand a metaphor. For example: Clinton
refers to building a bridge, but does not tell us with which tools he

Operation and War Sustainment

the cravings, but thankfully I didn t. Every time I craved caffeine I would drink lots of water.

Differences Between Sea Oats And Camphorweed
On the Cabretta beach dunes, there is an abundance of vegetation that encompasses the area of the
quadrant for each stop. The most plant diversity of one stop, was observed in a swale (Dune Stop
2), with weed oats, wax myrtle, rushes, and dog fennel. These four plants solely appeared in the
swale. Sea oats and camphorweed were the most abundant planttypes in the dunes; additionally, sea
oats and camphorweed can be found in multiple dune environments. Sea oats were found in dune
crests, between two troughs, and in the fore dune, having most abundance in the crests, while
camphorweed was found in inter dune meadows, between two troughs, and in the fore dune,
having most abundance in the inter dune meadows (Figure ). These two plants displayed
significant height differences in various dune territories. In the crest, sea oats measured at a height
of 105cm, but as they grow closer to the ocean, they increase by ~63cm. As for camphorweeds,

Argumentative Essay On Processed Foods
Most Americans love the low cost, prepackaged, great tasting food that is convenient to buy and
prepare. These prepackaged or processed foods are normally made to be faster, cheaper and
usually taste great but they are loaded with bizarre, unpronounceable chemicals that, if you saw
them in their pre processed state, you would never consider putting in your mouth. Emulsifiers,
preservatives, colorants, stabilizers, artificial sweeteners, texturizers and even bleach can be
found in most processed foods. On average, Americans spend 90% of their food budget on these
types of foods which is found to contribute to the leading causes of obesity, auto immune disease,
diabetes and even cancer. Everywhere you look there is a rising concern for health from these
added ingredients. Let s take a look at tomatoes, Fresh tomatoes are considered to be very good
for you and aid to help prevent cancer, the canned ones not so much. Canned processed foods are
a concern because of the material the can is made of. The lining of almost all canned foods
contain a chemical called BPA. Studies show that BPA affects the way genes work inside the
brain. Tomatoes are exceptionally dangerous due to the high acidic level. The acid reacts to the
BPA making the chemical transfer into the tomatoes instead of staying in the lining of the can. This
is just one example and one type of processed canned foods, there are thousands more. America is

Personal Affect Of New Tattoo Policy
Personal Affect of new Tattoo Policy
SGT Carter, Christopher

Abstract
The tattoo policy has always been part of the Military, to keep a clean and professionalism
appearance. But how much do tattoos really matter in today s world? It is getting harder and
harder to find soldiers that are in the Military that do not have a tattoo, to some it is a way to show
what they have been through, a story that tells there life and time in the service or from
experiences overseas. There are still some Tattoo s that should not be allowed in the military
whether it be a sexist, racial or extremist tattoo, that could offend or start rivalry s within today s
army if they were allowed. The New revised regulations in AR 670 1 ... Show more content on

There are regulations for a reason, which can be understood. But the way the world is becoming
tattoo s, are being acceptable for almost any job. According to the regulations the placement of
tattoo s is going off of the wear of the summer PT uniform which is a short sleeve shirt, and
shorts, which is usually worn a few hours out of the day. The Army Combat Uniform (ACU) is
worn 90 percent of a soldier s time in the military, this has Long sleeves which cover your arms,
and pants which cover your neck. The new revisions should tailor to the uniform that is worn the
most. There has been word of AR 670 1, and DA PAM s 670 1 Policy being revised for soldiers that
may have tattoo s on their arms or legs so they can go warrant officer, or officer if they so choose.
This will not pertain to new soldiers enlisted or officer candidates that joined after the revision of
the policy.
Personal Affect of new Tattoo Policy The tattoo Policy has always been a part of the Military. It has
changed a few times in accordance with AR 670 1, and DA PAM 670 1. At times of need for the
Army they have allowed waivers so soldiers that do not meet the standards can join the Army in
a time of need for more soldiers. The policy on tattoos as of all policies that are in the Military
should be followed, but have a big affect on today s

The Knight s Tale Comparison Essay
In the short story, The Knight s Tale written by Geoffrey Chaucer, the two main characters,
Palamon and Arcite battle for the love of Emily. The Duke of Athens, Theseus, had taken Palamon
and Arcite prisoners and locked them up in a tower, where they then noticed Emily and
immediately had fallen in lovewithout ever even talking to her. Emily was Theseus sister in law
and since both Palamon and Arcite were prisoners, they most likely had a slim chance of getting to
meet the love of their life. Throughout The Knight s Tale , there are many instances that display
differences, similarities, and the resulting consequences between Arcite and Palamon. Throughout
The Knight s Tale , Palamon and Arcite display many differences in everything they do to win the
love of Emily. Palamon was the first to remark Emily, but instead of falling in love with her as a

the other hand, when Arcite saw Emily, he instantly was infatuated with her as a woman and not

Perotheus, a friend of Theseus and also of Arcite, visited Theseus in Athens and heard that Arcite

Capitalism And The Economic Growth Under Capitalism
Throughout history and present day, it is seen that capitalism does work efficiently and surprisingly
well, even though it is often wrongly accused and criticized for others shortcomings. Capitalism,
otherwise known as a free market economy, is an economic and political system in which a country
s trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state. Werner
Sombart first used the term capitalismin the early twentieth century, but the concept of it existed
much earlier. Modern capitalism began developing in the Netherlands and England during the Early
Modern period, while merchant capitalism began all the way back in Western Europe during the
Middle Ages. Although self interest fuels capitalism,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, capitalism allows freedom in the market. For example, Capitalism also creates
more wealth for those on the lowest rung of the income ladder than any other system (Ringer,
Robert). This proves that even those who are the poorest of poor can find a way to create wealth
for themselves to raise themselves up the economic ladder. In free markets, there is always a
way for a person to generate income, even if they have no money themselves. To help those in
the lower part of the spectrum, Capitalism enables everyone to act in a consistently self
interested manner (Biddle, Craig). When given the privilege of putting oneself in front of
others, one can control their money however they please. It is crucial to be able to monitor one s
private wealth if one wants to further succeed in the economy. Under capitalism, it is not always
a cakewalk for corporations or the wealthy like people are led to believe, individuals and
corporations legally own not only their profits but also their problems (Biddle, Craig). When one
can control their wealth, it comes with complications as well. Those complications do not only
apply to the poor, nor the rich. Problems do not discriminate; no one is excluded from experiencing
such things.
Finally, capitalism is beneficial because all people have the drive to avoid failure. Robert Gelinas
brings this to light when

Comparing The Governing Structure Of The Indus River...
Although the Governing Structure of the Indus River Valley Civilization is unknown,
archeologists have suggest three major theories on what it could be. The first theory was that
there was a single governing system in the Civilization. This theory was suggested based on
evidence of how similar the artifacts from different cities were in comparison. To be specific, the
cities all shared the same grid pattern and the size of the bricks had standarized ratio. The second
suggested theory was about how there could have been several rulers, each per city. The last theory
was that there were no rulers and everyone had equal status. There was also a minor theory about
having a theocratic government, a form of government that has religious leaders as

Trident University International
Introduction
In today s fast evolving technological environments, capacity planning is confronted with what may
be the biggest challenge facing capacity planning and management is the migration to cloud
computing. The objective of capacity planning in IT is to provide quality computing services to
users in a way that makes fiscal sense to the company (TeamQuest, 2010). The difficulties
introduced by cloud based structures address the question of whether an organization should use
capacity evaluations. Businesses use these evaluations in making decisions on their needs. Cloud
computing is based on the idea of a shared computing, storage, network, and application resources
all provided by a third party. This paper will explain what motivates a company a company to
perform computer capacity evaluations.
Capacity Planning Challenges
Capacity planning is challenging for many organizations, as there are a whole host of alternatives
available. In the past, the tough decisions were essentially in reference to server capacity. There
was no major issue in having too much capacity. The Cloud is steadily changing technological and
computing environments when it comes to evaluating capacity needs. Before the Cloud, to measure

Baseball Games Should Not Be Banned
Imagine the year is 1998, and baseball player Mark McGwire is stronger and more aggressive
than ever. The fans are in shock because the crowd is familiar with baseball games being on the
dull side, but this baseball game has the fans at the edge of the seat. Now imagine every Oakland
Athletics game having this powerful energy, home runafter home run, fast running, and the loud
crowd cheering for the home team. The score is tied and the baseballgame is in the last inning. The
crowd begins to scream and sweat nervously, with only a few seconds left. The players are
running all over the court as fast as ever before, and the sound of the ball being hit against the bat
is so loud the crowd can hear the sound from the nosebleeds. McGwire swings and hits a homerun
and the Oakland Athletics win. But come to find out Mark McGwire, who hit the winning homerun
had Performance Enhancing Drugsin his system. The other team is infuriated when knowing the
truth behind all of the fast balls and home runs which were hit, and knowing the team was cheated
and had a chance to win. The Oakland Athletics were ashamed to hear the news from the fellow
team mate. Unfortunately due to the professional athlete s well performance, McGwire influenced
other baseball players to begin using the drug.

Body Scanners Essay
Current Security Use of Body Scanners
With the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, the administration of George W. Bush introduced
reforms in the screening process. A major component of these reforms was the establishment of the
cabinet level Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the TSA. TSA is an agency in the
Department of Homeland Security and is responsible for screening all travelers and their luggage,
as well as the screening of all air and rail transportation in the United States. The resulting changes
in screening restricted potential carry on weapons, such as sharp objects, scissors, clippers, and so
forth. The TSA also used various methods of determining risk factors for the detainment and more

The flip side of the debate has been the potential cost of providing sufficient body scanners for all
the terminals and keeping the flow of travelers moving in a timely manner.
Body scanners were introduced in certain terminals starting in 2007 and 2008, with strict policies
identifying who would view the images and the assurance by officials that body images would be
erased from the system immediately after the traveler passed through. In December 2009, Nigerian
Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab attempted to ignite a bomb that was hidden in his underwear during a
flight from Amsterdam to Detroit. While Abdulmutallab failed, the incident once again raised the
issue of body scanning technology into the public debate.
In autumn 2010, the TSA implemented enhanced screening procedures that included full body
scans and pat downs, igniting significant media coverage and public outrage. Despite heated
national dialogue over the enhanced procedures, several polls conducted by news outlets in 2010
found that the majority of those polled approved of the TSA using full body scanners. An ABC
/Washington Post poll, however, found that 50 percent of respondents felt enhanced pat downs
went too far. In 2014 researchers from UC San Diego, University of Michigan, and Johns Hopkins
University also demonstrated various flaws in the scanning technology that would allow disguised
or cleverly placed weapons or simulated explosive devices to

Football Vs Basketball Research Paper
Both football and basketball are highly populated sports in the United States of America, however,
they have vast amounts differences in the style of play. There can be lots of comparing and
contrasting the two sporting events based on the history, how they are played, who plays them, and
any other similarities and differences about the two sports.
The history of basketball began in 1891 in Springfield, Massachusetts by James Naismith, a
Canadian physical education instructor. Reason being is the fact basketball is a less injury prone
sport compared to football. The history of football started in the mid 18th century in Britain by
the Father of Football, Walter Camp. As time passed by, these sports became a thing at the
collegiate level, then followed by a professional level. Basketball proceeded from college to the ...

balls are shaped differently and used differently. In football, the ball is shaped like an egg in a
way, but with pointy edges. It s used to be thrown, kicked, and caught. However, a basketball is

The Effects Of Pesticides On The Coffee Industry On Coffee
Coffea commonly known as a coffee plant is the member of the Rubiaceae family (USDA 2015).
While there are various species of the coffee plant, Coffee Arabica and Coffee Canephora are
mostly grown. However, between them Coffee Arabica is considered to have greater quality and
flavor. With the increase in demand of coffeewithin coffee drinkers globally, coffee has
successfully ensured its place to become the world s second largest commodity. Brazil is known
as the top manufacturer of coffee followed by countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia, Colombia, and
Ethiopia (USDA 2014). The rising demand for coffee has augmented the dependence of the coffee
industry on countries that grows coffee. Using pesticides on coffee fields seemed to be an ultimate
solution for farmers who were hoping for maximum productivity of coffee. Pesticides are used in
agriculturein order to protect plants from fungal diseases, pests, insects that affect the growth of
food crops. On the short run, using pesticides has an advantage as it increases the production and
the quality of coffee. However, pesticidepractices have negative issues on the environment, the
quality and the amount of coffee manufactured, and the health of the coffee drinkers and the
farmers in the long run.
The agricultural practice that involves the usage of pesticides has contributed in the exploitation of
the environment. The consumption of pesticides in countries that grows coffee has increased
rapidly over the decades. For example,

The Field Of Machine Learning Essay
Literature Review Introduction: Machine learning is a part of software engineering that advanced
from the examination of pattern recognition and computational learning hypothesis in AI
(artificial Intelligence). Machine learning scrutinizes the study and development of algorithms
that can gain from and make forecasts of the information. The field of Machine Learning (ML)
currently lacks a common platform for the development of collaborative computing. By
composing ML models and algorithms in browser based programming languages, numerous
exploration opportunities are accessible. The most evident is programming similarity: almost all
registering gadgets can team up on the preparation of ML models by contributing some
computational assets to the general preparing methodology and can, with the same code, saddle
the force of advanced prescient models of the same gadgets (see Fig. 1). Figure 1: MLitB

First, Terms of Endearment (1983) directed by James L. Brook, is about a complex mother

peculiar way of how she was affectionate and caring for her daughter. Aurora goes out of her way
to assure herself that her daughter is safe. The movie actually started off with Aurora climbing into
the baby s crib to make sure the baby was breathing and alive. She wasn t the most ordinary mother

  • 2. Juvenile Justice And Juvenile Delinquency Juvenile Justice has been a work in progress from the beginning of the program because of the evolving mentality of the generations. The purpose of Juvenile Justice was to correct the behavior of the juvenile delinquents and rehabilitation through a probationary period monitored by an individual who paid for bail and periodically reported behavior changes to courts. (Mulligan 2009) We do justice to the youth offenders by understanding the history of Juvenile Justice restorative programs, the alternatives to incarceration, and how to help them amend their actions and behavior. The history of Juvenile Justice went from incarceration with adults to reform back to incarceration in separate facilities and similar rights as adult offenders.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because of the efforts, juvenile court spread to 46 states by 1925. (Eskin, 1991) Constitutional rights were given to juvenile offenders in 1967, when the Juvenile Justice was under scrutiny for unfair treatment. A Supreme Court reviewed a case that sentenced a 15 year old Gerald Gault to detention until the age of 21 for making an obscene phone call. The Supreme Court case determined that juveniles are entitled to many of the same adult rights and have the right to know their charges, have legal representation, and the right not to testify against their own selves. (Eskin, 1991) It is beneficial for society to know and understand the Restorative programs and how juveniles can amend their actions and correct their behavior. (Hagan and King 1992) Juvenile Justice is often thought of as dealing with juveniles who commit theft or unruly. Society today has to face the reality that the current generation of juveniles are committing crimes such as murder, drug offenses, and sexual assaults. Restorative justice is known through objectives and in contrast to the former retributive and rehabilitative beliefs of punishment. (Mulligan 2009) Community based juvenile justice programs focus on developing the competency development of the youth offender to ensure the youth successful completion of the programs in order to exit the juvenile justice system and become contributing law abiding members of the community. Group dynamics involves the influence of personality, power, and behaviour on the group process. Group dynamics is the study of groups, and also a general term for group processes. Relevant to the fields of psychology, sociology, and communication studies, a group is two or more individuals who are connected to each other by social relationships. Storming: In this stage, the group is likely to see the highest level of disagreement and conflict. Members often challenge group goals and struggle for power. Individuals often vie for the leadership position during this stage of development. This can be a positive experience for all groups if members can achieve cohesiveness through resolution. Members often voice concern and criticism in this phase. If members are not able to resolve the conflict, then the group will often disband or continue in existence but will remain ineffective and never advance to the other stages. 3. Norming: This stage is characterized by the recognition of individual differences and shared expectations. Hopefully, at this stage the group members will begin to develop a feeling of group cohesion and identity. Cooperative effort should begin to yield results. Responsibilities are divided among members and the group decides how it will evaluate progress. 4. Performing: Performing, occurs when the group has matured and attains a feeling of cohesiveness. During this stage of development, individuals accept one another and conflict is resolved through group discussion. • 5. The Behavioral Theory Of Depression Depression is a mood disorder which is categorised by low mood and a wide range of other symptoms, which will inevitably differ depending on the individual. This mental health illness can either progress at a fast rate or steadily. Many scientific and medicinal professionals view depression as a defence mechanism that the body implements in order to escape from stress. Seligman (1973) discussed depression in terms of it being like a common cold of psychiatry, due to how frequently it is diagnosed. The behaviourist approach accentuates the significance of the environment in regards to determining an individual s behaviour. To behaviourist theorists, our behaviour does not relate with our internal unconscious struggles or suppressions. However, psychologists in this field use ideologies of the learning theory to explain human behaviour. According to the behavioural theory, dysfunctional behaviour such as depression is learned and so because of this, psychologists propose that it can also be unlearned. This perspective focuses on behaviour which is observable and the circumstances in which a particular individual has learnt that behaviour. As a result, depression is therefore seen by behaviourist theorists as a result of an individual s contact with their environment. Classical conditioning would suggest that depression is cultured through the connotation of certain stimuli s with undesirable emotional states. • 6. My Life Of High School When people used to tell me that high school would be the best four years of my life, I never seemed to believe them. Looking at where I am today makes me believe them when they say that high school will also be the fastest four years of my life. It is crazy to even think that just yesterday I was mentally preparing myself to walk into the doors of Lasalle Peru High School, and today I am mentally preparing myself to walk out of the doors of Streator High School. Time truly does fly when you are having fun, I wish I could go back just to feel everything one more time. I remember the first day of high school as a freshman, I walked in with an aircast on my right ankle because I had fractured it a few weeks before. I remember walking in with a shirt that said Totally Monday , a grey sweater, and with salmon colored shorts. My hair was long, I had braces, clear skin, and an attitude that showed how excited I was for a change. I came from a small school in a small town, so going to LP was a huge change for me. We had Link Leaders running around the first day to guide the freshman around the school which was exciting. Another thing that was exciting was the hot lunches that they had there! I was so excited to have hot lunch everyday, when I was in grade school they didn t serve hot food everyday. I remember the first time I sang an original song on stage, and the senior drama club members pulled me off stage and physically walked me to go and sign up for the musical which was ... • 8. Beethoven Seventh Symphony Analysis Pratt Carrol stated that Music is the language of emotion, and emotions tend to be the same the world over, in spite of differences in social customs and language. In other words, music is a fabulous expression of the human being no matter the culture or norms because it manages to immediately transmit different feelings and emotions that other forms of art may not transmit. For my Introduction to music class I decided, to write about the Seventh Symphony in A major (Op. 92) by Ludwig van Beethoven. The reason why I choose this symphony is because it s an emotional piece of music, and it definitely catch my attention since the moment I heard it. I feel this symphony reach emotional situations that are above human explosions. Emotional areas that invade us through a contradictory fact between feelings. The Seventh Symphony in A major by Beethoven appears in 1813. The orchestra contains two flutes, two oboes, two clarinets in A, two bassoons, two horns in A (E and D in the inner movements), two trumpets in D, timpani, and strings. Beethoven insisted on directing it at its premiere, with tragicomic results. The critics recognized a new genius of Beethoven; even today there are experts who consider it as the best of their symphonies. Richard Wagner, another fervent Beethovenian, describe this symphony as all tumult, all yearning and storming of heart into the blissful insolence of joy, which snatches us away with bacchanalian might. • 10. Puritans And The American Ethos And Democratic Spirit Puritans founded America, and for roughly two centuries, defined American culture. Their zealousness has created cultural backlashes to many progressive movements, but also organized community picnics, sent aid to impoverished populations (albeit with perverse logic), and comforted millions of Americans, both now and in the past, facing an uncertain world. Tocqueville unequivocally professed the proverbial glue Puritanism has on the American ethos and democratic spirit: Puritanism was not merely a religious doctrine, but it corresponded in many points with the most absolute democratic and republican theories. But American religiosity is diminishing. Other forces like materialism, globalism, humanism, and science continue to push the world into a new frontier. Between 2007 and 2014, adults who are religiously affiliated dropped 6%; though, 77% percent of Americans are religiously affiliated and 58% find religion very important and those who identify strongly with religion continue to have the same intensity in belief. With the election of Donald Trump, many see the dark side of this puritan spirit rising, the parts entangled with our country s deepest, darkest roots: more racism, sexism, and jingoism. Undeniably, more of these insidious weeds have sprouted in our democratic field as of late, despite always being hidden a mere few feet below the surface. Fight Back commences with a broad historical analysis examining the implications of unscrupulous neoliberal tactics. However, without the Czech people, the world would look a lot different. Imagine a world without Protestantism, without universal education, without contact lenses. Then, the cultural influence of the Czech Republicbecomes clear. A century before Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to a church door, Czech priest Jan Hus had already begun protesting the Catholic church. Although he was burned at the stake for heresy, he left behind writings that later helped spark the Protestant Reformation, an event that would change the course of history forever. These communist rulers encouraged the arts as long as artists supported communist rule. Ironically, it would be the arts that led to their downfall. A group of writers pushing for an end to censorship led to the start of Prague Spring, a hopeful time of democratic reforms in the 1960s. However, the Soviet army brutally crushed this peaceful revolt shortly after. The Czech people could have been discouraged by this, disillusioned by the thought of using peace as a method for throwing off oppression. But they were not. In 1989, another writer, this time a playwright by the name of Vaclav Havel, again led a peaceful revolution. The Velvet Revolution successfully ended Communism in the Czech Republic and led to the democracy the Czech Republic enjoys today. The fighters in this revolution were not armies, but artists. Across the country, theater companies advocated for strikes and protest. This revolution showed that the biggest threat to communism came from neither weaponry nor militaries, but from art and the uniting of the common people. You are at risk, regardless if you are a direct victim or somehow exposed to extreme, unpredictable and uncontrollable life threatening events such as war, natural disasters, accidents, rape, physical or sexual assault, kidnapping, domestic violence, workplace or school bullying, physical or emotional abuse. PTSD ASD, STS and AD, are clinical conditions associated with traumatic events or post traumatic stress. More recently the first NMDA drug uncompetitive receptor antagonist, memantine was approved for clinical use in management and treatment of moderate to severe AD (Anand, Gill Mahdi 2014). Without the questioning and wondering in life then philosophy would be worthless. The great philosopher Socrates acknowledge this and therefore he would wonder everything in life making him a wise man not because he knew everything but because what ever wisdomhe has comes from his knowledge that he knows nothing. After Socratesbeing sentenced to death penalty for corrupting the young, by not believing in the gods in which the city believed in. Many philosophers have given a lot of that on what he may had tried to say in which ended made the inference that for Socrates living meant to be able to questioneverything around him. With that being said an examined life would be to be precautious with all your decisions and to question everything in our surroundings to have knowledge and that kind of life would be worth living. In today s life we live in world full of decisions in which it helps it shape our whole world. One bad decision and your whole life could change. • 22. A Connecticut Yankee Character Analysis Mark Twain combines two distinct time periods in his novel, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur s Court. Born in the 19th century, character Hank Morgan wakes up one day to find himself in the 6th century. Morgan quickly takes advantage of his newfound place in a primeval society and establishes power through the introduction of technology. Some critics believe that Morgan s desire for power leads to his corruption. Two notable critics, Arthur Shattuck O Keefe and Jane Gardiner, bash Morgan and see through his lies and make believe, asserting how the Yankee ruined his own vision of bringing the 19th century to the 6th century. As a whole, Morgan s arrogance and hypocrisy leads to both the growth and eventual collapse of his ideal, utopian society. Hank Morgan represents a corrupt individual who represses opposing ideologies that go against his plans for rebuilding society. He shows determination to get what he wants as he makes change in King Arthurs domain, not letting any opponent stand in his way. Arthur Shattuck O Keefe takes a close look at Morgan s persistence, causing him to believe that it drives the Yankee to the point of complete arrogance and desire for absolute rule. O Keefe addresses Morgan s shift of power in his work, The Morally Imperative Lie in Twain s Connecticut Yankee, stating that Hank Morgan is a malignant (if not totalitarian) authority figure (O Keefe). It can be deduced that Morgan uses his power to the highest extent and shows no sympathy as he passes through the various ranks in King Arthur s court. There is even a point where Morgan passes the King, as in the book it was mentioned how [He] was no shadow the king... The king himself was the shadow (Twain 44). It was at this point where The Boss assumes the highest political power. However, he furthermore looked to make changes with his newfound role. He later plans possible intrusions with the Church, the most powerful force at the time. He mentions how people in society see the hand of that awful power, the Roman Catholic Church (Twain 46). It is at this point where Morgan is just one step away from holding complete dominance. His arrogance blocks out any outside noise, however, as he was told on numerous occasions to be ... This essay talks about how Republican government is taken in consideration by the constitution .Having a republic and looking at democracy is important in many ways. It all depends on how large a republic is and what the results it can have. In the first paragraph, it talks about how a well constructed union needs to be able to control the violence of a faction. There are problems in factions ,for example the governments are too unstable, public goods are disregard in the conflict of rival parties, measures are too often decided not according to the rules of justice and the rights of the minor parties, but by the superior force of an interested and overbearing majority . • 33. Neil Postman Throughout the span of the past few weeks I have traversed the globe, visiting several countries and regions, only to realize that although new methods develop, language as a way of expressing ones self has remained the most effective. Despite this fact, language still has its pitfalls. Neil Postman, in his essay #8220;Defending Against the Indefensible, #8221; outlines seven concepts that can be used to aid a student in better understanding the language as a means of communication. He describes how modern teaching methods leave a student vulnerable to the #8220;prejudices of their elders #8221;, further stating that a good teacher must always be skeptical. He urges teachers of all subjects to break free from traditional teachings as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Postman argues that if a student were to see hidden meaning in a word, then they could use it to their defense. It is my belief that Postman may be correct now, what about in the future. If attention were turned to smaller words, then surely our vocabulary will diminish, and the same thing that happened to words such as true, and false, will happen to words such as semantic, and pedagogical. Vocabulary tests should be left as they are. If a student wishes to study words of everyday use, read a book, or watch television. The next principle was thought provoking as well. The use of a metaphor as a tool in education is rarely used, as Postman notes. #8220;Unless our students are aware of how metaphors shape arguments, organize perceptions, and control feelings, their understanding is severely limited. Postman displays how most political speeches are laced with metaphors, and how teacher #8217;s methods are shaped by a metaphor. A student who doesn #8217;t understand a metaphor, or when it is being applied tends to have a more closed outlook. A metaphor, used as a communication skill, is best described in a political way. Think of Reagan #8217;s Voodoo economics, or Bill Clinton building a bridge to the 21st century. Politicians can easily scam an ignorant voter, should one not understand a metaphor. For example: Clinton refers to building a bridge, but does not tell us with which tools he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Capitalism, otherwise known as a free market economy, is an economic and political system in which a country s trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state. Werner Sombart first used the term capitalismin the early twentieth century, but the concept of it existed much earlier. In free markets, there is always a way for a person to generate income, even if they have no money themselves. To help those in the lower part of the spectrum, Capitalism enables everyone to act in a consistently self interested manner (Biddle, Craig). When given the privilege of putting oneself in front of others, one can control their money however they please. It is crucial to be able to monitor one s private wealth if one wants to further succeed in the economy. Under capitalism, it is not always a cakewalk for corporations or the wealthy like people are led to believe, individuals and corporations legally own not only their profits but also their problems (Biddle, Craig). When one can control their wealth, it comes with complications as well. Those complications do not only apply to the poor, nor the rich. The field of Machine Learning (ML) currently lacks a common platform for the development of collaborative computing. By composing ML models and algorithms in browser based programming languages, numerous exploration opportunities are accessible. The most evident is programming similarity: almost all registering gadgets can team up on the preparation of ML models by contributing some computational assets to the general preparing methodology and can, with the same code, saddle the force of advanced prescient models of the same gadgets (see Fig. 1). PeerJ Comput. Sci. 1:e11; DOI 10.7717/peerjcs. 11 From the figure 1, it is clear that in the first step, an analyst sets up a learning issue in his/her program. Through the web, framework and desktop machines contribute calculation to take care of the issue in the second stage(Picone et al., 2015). Finally, the third step indicates the heterogeneous gadgets like cellular telephone and tablets, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. Power Struggle In The Film Terms Of Endearment The three films that I have chosen all have a power struggle between the mother and daughter. First, Terms of Endearment (1983) directed by James L. Brook, is about a complex mother daughter relationship. In this movie, the mother, Aurora (Shirley MacLaine) has always had a peculiar way of how she was affectionate and caring for her daughter. Aurora goes out of her way to assure herself that her daughter is safe. The movie actually started off with Aurora climbing into the baby s crib to make sure the baby was breathing and alive. She wasn t the most ordinary mother out there when it came to showing her feelings; it was always a bit too much to handle. After the death of her husband, Aurora and her daughter were all each other had, and that s when the love/hate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Aurora isn t pleased by her daughter s choices, she didn t budge easily to change her mind. This is one of the many examples of struggle between the mother and daughter. Time flies by, and Emma returns home with her three children because she finds out about Flap s secret affair. Even after the years they spent apart from each other, they both came together for support during Emma s crisis. Some more time passes by and Emma finds out about an illness that she will not survive. Aurora and Flap come to Emma s aid at this dreadful time. Aurora, being as tired and devastated that she is about her daughter, spends all her time to make sure Emma has everything she needs. Watching Emma s illness progress, Flap and Emma decide that the best place for their children is with Aurora. Emma shortly dies and the all is left is Aurora and the children (Terms of Endearment, movie). This movie is what we started this class off with and I feel that for this paper it s a perfect example of how maternal melodrama is shown in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Grendel And Unferth Relationship Grendel and Unferth have a pretty interesting relationship in the book Grendel. Grendel is a monster that at first did not really understand what being a monster was all about. After one of the biggest turning points in the book, when he finally meets the dragon that changes his view, Grendel begins to see himself for who he really is and shows it with his actions throughout the rest of the novel. Grendel, unlike Unferth, is immortal, which is why their relationship is interesting since Unferth fights Grendel to be immortal (in a sense of his legacy). In Grendel, Unferth is the perfect hero to his civilization, the perfect body, bravery and strength. He knows that everyone looks up to him, so Unferth decides to make his legacy last until the ...
