The genre of mymagazine frontcoveris horrorand these were myinspirational magazinefront
coversI usedto helpcreate mymagazine frontcover.
My mediaproductusesconventionsof real mediaproductsinthatthe mastheadof magazine front
coveris ‘EMPIRE’a real magazine name.Ihave usedthe same fonttype,colourand positiononthe
frontcover.This helpstodemonstrate how Ihave usedreal mediaproductconventionswithinmy
mediaproductthat beingmymagazine frontcover. Ihave positionedmymastheadinthe same
place as all three frontcovershave done so helpingsoshow how Ihave usedreal mediaformsand
conventionswithinmymagazine frontcover.The traditional colourof the mastheadisred,and
althoughone of the examples’mastheadisgoldIhave still usedthe conventionof whatareal media
productuses.The same fonttype hasclearlybeenusedthroughoutall examplesof real media
productsand withinmymagazine frontcovershowingthe use of real mediaproductconvention
here.
The additional coverlineswereall placedeitherdownthe leftand/orrighthandside of the
magazine frontcoversof the examples.Ihave placedthe additional coverlinesdownboththe left
and righthand side helpingtoshowhowI have usedthisreal mediaproductconvention.Moreover,
the additional coverline above the mastheadisusedthroughoutall exampleswhichIhave usedon
my magazine frontcover.Thishelpstoshow how I have usedreal mediaconventionsandformsof a
product.
The additional coverline Ihave onmy magazine frontcoverinthe top righthandside issimilarto
that of the firstreal mediamagazine frontcoverexample.Theyare similarintheirshape andhow
the textof the additional coverlinehasbeendisplayed.Thishelpstoportrayhow mymagazine front
coveris developingreal mediaproductformsandconventions.The circle containinganadditional
coverline used onmy magazine frontcoverisshowninall examplesof real mediaproductsof the
magazine frontcovers.However,Ithinkthatthe one usedonmy magazine frontcoverstandsout
more and isfeaturedmore heavilythanthe real mediaproducts.Thishelpstoshow how Ihave
developedformsandconventionsof real mediaproducts. The ‘+’signusedinmymagazine front
coveris featuresinthe firstexample,althoughmy‘+’issizeddifferentlytothe example helpingto
showhowI am developingthisformandconvention.
On the otherhand,all of the real mediaproductexamplesIhave usedhave the maincoverline’s
fonttype similarif notthe same to the additional coverlines,whereasmymagazine frontcoverdoes
not.My maincoverlinesfonttype isdifferenttothe additional coverlinesfonttype helpingtoshow
howI am challengingformsandconventionsof real mediaproducts.The shape acrossthe bottomof
my magazine frontcoverwhichholdsanadditional coverline isnotshownacrossthe real media
productexampleshelpingtoshowhowI have challengedformsandconventionsof real media
products.
FilmPoster
The genre of myfilmposterishorror andthese were myinspirationalfilm postersIusedtohelp
create my filmposter.
My mediausesformsandconventionsof real mediaproductsintermsof the filmposterIcreated.
The title of my filmispresentedinthe middle andtowardsthe bottomof the poster,whichthe
examplesof real mediaproductfilmpostersall portray.This helpstoshow how myfilmposterhas
formsand conventionsof real mediaproducts.However,the fonttype inthe real mediaproducts
are similarandare verysimple fonttypes.The fonttype Idecidedtouse waslesssimple andwas
more edgy.It still showssome similarityinthe thinnessof the fonttype whichthe real media
productsall have.Thishelpstoportray my filmposterasdevelopingformsandconventionsof real
mediaproducts.
Withinthe firstexample of areal mediaproductthere isthe films reviewintermsof star rating
shown.Inmy filmposterthere are starratings shownhelpingtoshow how my filmposterusesreal
formsand conventionsof real mediaproducts.
I wantedtoinclude some of the actors and actressesnamesonmyfilmposterandas the secondreal
mediaproductexample doesthisIwasable todo thisinmy filmposter.However,Ihave positioned
the namesdifferentlyonthe filmpostercomparedtothe secondreal mediaproductexample
helpingtoshowhowI have developedformsandconventionsof real mediaproducts.
The creditsof the real mediaproductexamplesare all placedatthe bottomof the filmposters.I
have done thistoo inmy filmposterhelpingtoshow Ihave usedformsand conventionsof real
mediaproductsinmy filmposter.
MoreoverI have used the phrase ‘ComingSoon’ tosuggestwhenthe filmisbeingareleased,notan
actual date. The real mediaproductsof the filmposters give aspecificreleasedate byincludingthe
monthand yearit will be released.Therefore Ihave challengedmediaconventions inthe wayI
decidedtoportraywhenthe filmwill be released.Ididthisas I wantedtocreate a feelingof mystery
whichisparallel tothe filmsstoryline.BydoingthisIwasable entice audiencesevenmore and
perhapsaudiencesmaybegintorealise thatnospecificreleasedate will be giveninwhichsome of
the audience maythinkithas somethingtodowiththe film.
Trailer
My filmtrailerof ‘The Man NextDoor’isof the genre horrorand usesformsand conventionsof real
mediaproductsinthat at the beginningitstartswiththe age rating of the film.Thisisdone inmany
filmtrailersingeneral andnotjusthorrortrailers,soit isa basicfilmtrailerconventionthatIhave
incorporated.The productioncompanythatmygroup andI came up withanddesignedisshown
shortlyintothe trailerandnearlyeveryfilmtrailershowsthisneartothe start of a filmtrailer
helpingtoshowhowithas followedformsandconventionsof real mediaproducts.
Withinourfilmtrailerthere are timeswhentextjustappearsonthe screen.These oftenappearin
real mediaproducts,especiallyhorrorfilmtrailershelpingtoshow thatI have usedformsand
conventionsof real mediaproductsintermsof the genre horror.The dramatic cameraanglessuch
as the ‘face-on’and‘360 degree’shotshelptoportraythisisa horrorfilmtrailerasthese are forms
and conventionsusedinhorrorfilmtrailers.Furthermore,the musicisfull of suspensewhichis
frequentlyusedinhorrorfilmtrailerswhichhelpstofocusonthe genre horror of the real media
productsand the conventionsusedinthose.
However,withinourtrailerthere isnotmuchdialogue,whichhorrorfilmtrailersoftenhave.This
helpstoshowhowI have challengedreal mediaconventionsandformsof filmtrailerespecially
whenitcomesto the genre horror. The lack of communicationwasdone toincrease mystery.

Ihave positionedmymastheadinthe same place as all three frontcovershave done so helpingsoshow how Ihave usedreal mediaformsand conventionswithinmymagazine frontcover.The traditional colourof the mastheadisred,and althoughone of the examples’mastheadisgoldIhave still usedthe conventionof whatareal media productuses.The same fonttype hasclearlybeenusedthroughoutall examplesof real media productsand withinmymagazine frontcovershowingthe use of real mediaproductconvention here. The additional coverlineswereall placedeitherdownthe leftand/orrighthandside of the magazine frontcoversof the examples.Ihave placedthe additional coverlinesdownboththe left and righthand side helpingtoshowhowI have usedthisreal mediaproductconvention.Moreover, the additional coverline above the mastheadisusedthroughoutall exampleswhichIhave usedon my magazine frontcover.Thishelpstoshow how I have usedreal mediaconventionsandformsof a product. The additional coverline Ihave onmy magazine frontcoverinthe top righthandside issimilarto that of the firstreal mediamagazine frontcoverexample.Theyare similarintheirshape andhow the textof the additional coverlinehasbeendisplayed.Thishelpstoportrayhow mymagazine front coveris developingreal mediaproductformsandconventions.The circle containinganadditional coverline used onmy magazine frontcoverisshowninall examplesof real mediaproductsof the magazine frontcovers.However,Ithinkthatthe one usedonmy magazine frontcoverstandsout more and isfeaturedmore heavilythanthe real mediaproducts.Thishelpstoshow how Ihave developedformsandconventionsof real mediaproducts. The ‘+’signusedinmymagazine front coveris featuresinthe firstexample,althoughmy‘+’issizeddifferentlytothe example helpingto showhowI am developingthisformandconvention. On the otherhand,all of the real mediaproductexamplesIhave usedhave the maincoverline’s fonttype similarif notthe same to the additional coverlines,whereasmymagazine frontcoverdoes not.My maincoverlinesfonttype isdifferenttothe additional coverlinesfonttype helpingtoshow howI am challengingformsandconventionsof real mediaproducts.The shape acrossthe bottomof my magazine frontcoverwhichholdsanadditional coverline isnotshownacrossthe real media productexampleshelpingtoshowhowI have challengedformsandconventionsof real media products.
  • 3. FilmPoster The genre of myfilmposterishorror andthese were myinspirationalfilm postersIusedtohelp create my filmposter. My mediausesformsandconventionsof real mediaproductsintermsof the filmposterIcreated. The title of my filmispresentedinthe middle andtowardsthe bottomof the poster,whichthe examplesof real mediaproductfilmpostersall portray.This helpstoshow how myfilmposterhas formsand conventionsof real mediaproducts.However,the fonttype inthe real mediaproducts
  • 4. are similarandare verysimple fonttypes.The fonttype Idecidedtouse waslesssimple andwas more edgy.It still showssome similarityinthe thinnessof the fonttype whichthe real media productsall have.Thishelpstoportray my filmposterasdevelopingformsandconventionsof real mediaproducts. Withinthe firstexample of areal mediaproductthere isthe films reviewintermsof star rating shown.Inmy filmposterthere are starratings shownhelpingtoshow how my filmposterusesreal formsand conventionsof real mediaproducts. I wantedtoinclude some of the actors and actressesnamesonmyfilmposterandas the secondreal mediaproductexample doesthisIwasable todo thisinmy filmposter.However,Ihave positioned the namesdifferentlyonthe filmpostercomparedtothe secondreal mediaproductexample helpingtoshowhowI have developedformsandconventionsof real mediaproducts. The creditsof the real mediaproductexamplesare all placedatthe bottomof the filmposters.I have done thistoo inmy filmposterhelpingtoshow Ihave usedformsand conventionsof real mediaproductsinmy filmposter. MoreoverI have used the phrase ‘ComingSoon’ tosuggestwhenthe filmisbeingareleased,notan actual date. The real mediaproductsof the filmposters give aspecificreleasedate byincludingthe monthand yearit will be released.Therefore Ihave challengedmediaconventions inthe wayI decidedtoportraywhenthe filmwill be released.Ididthisas I wantedtocreate a feelingof mystery whichisparallel tothe filmsstoryline.BydoingthisIwasable entice audiencesevenmore and perhapsaudiencesmaybegintorealise thatnospecificreleasedate will be giveninwhichsome of the audience maythinkithas somethingtodowiththe film. Trailer My filmtrailerof ‘The Man NextDoor’isof the genre horrorand usesformsand conventionsof real mediaproductsinthat at the beginningitstartswiththe age rating of the film.Thisisdone inmany filmtrailersingeneral andnotjusthorrortrailers,soit isa basicfilmtrailerconventionthatIhave incorporated.The productioncompanythatmygroup andI came up withanddesignedisshown shortlyintothe trailerandnearlyeveryfilmtrailershowsthisneartothe start of a filmtrailer helpingtoshowhowithas followedformsandconventionsof real mediaproducts. Withinourfilmtrailerthere are timeswhentextjustappearsonthe screen.These oftenappearin real mediaproducts,especiallyhorrorfilmtrailershelpingtoshow thatI have usedformsand conventionsof real mediaproductsintermsof the genre horror.The dramatic cameraanglessuch as the ‘face-on’and‘360 degree’shotshelptoportraythisisa horrorfilmtrailerasthese are forms and conventionsusedinhorrorfilmtrailers.Furthermore,the musicisfull of suspensewhichis frequentlyusedinhorrorfilmtrailerswhichhelpstofocusonthe genre horror of the real media productsand the conventionsusedinthose. However,withinourtrailerthere isnotmuchdialogue,whichhorrorfilmtrailersoftenhave.This helpstoshowhowI have challengedreal mediaconventionsandformsof filmtrailerespecially whenitcomesto the genre horror. The lack of communicationwasdone toincrease mystery.
