I was able to create my film poster on Photoshop as this
allowed me to use specific tools needed to create
conventions of a film poster.
I used the ‘Magic Wand’ tool when deleting
backgrounds from images I had found and wanted to
use. an example of this is the red man used in the
background that initially had a white background to
it.
I used the ‘Text Tool’
to create the text on
the poster. The title,
for example, is where I
used this tool.
I used the ‘Paint
Bucket’ tool when
filling in the blood
splatter on my film
poster.
To create this affect on the text ‘Coming Soon’ I had to right click on
the layer, click on ‘Blending Options’ and then turn on ‘Outer Glow’. I
played around with different techniques and sizes to help choose what
fitted best.
Actors names: I
used actors names
as this will give the
audience an
opportunity to see
who is in the film.
Also if the actor is
well recognised,
people are more
likely to pay
money to watch
the film.
Title of the film: this has
been used so inform the
audience of the title of
the film so audiences
will be able to recognise
adverts on the radio, for
example, when the film
is promoted.
Production company: this is
vital for film posters to
promote the production
company.
Release date: although
there is no specific
release date, an
indication that the film
is ‘coming soon’ will
entice audiences.
