How my media product uses and develops conventions of real film magazines and posters
1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? Here is my film magazine featured next to other professional film magazine from covers that have recently been on the market, I knew it was important for my poster to blend in with the conventions of media magazines that are currently selling well, the masthead on each of the magazines are at the top and centred, each cover contains a barcode the date the issue number and magazine price. The text on all of them are clear and eye catching, the colours bright and obvious and in most cases linked to the theme- mine being horror therefore the font is in a variety of different red and blacks, i think overall i succeed in developing my ancillary task using the conventions of a real media product and the final outcome would be able to stand alongside the real products.
2. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? Here is can see the similarities of my ancillary task poster alongside other professional film posters. When researching magazines i noticed that the main character was often a main focus surrounded by darkness and often hard to make out to add to the unknown, i chose to have my actress glimpsing over her shoulder as her killer is sneaking up behind her. The location on the film is also another prominent feature to many posters, my film is set in a fielded area and i used leaves falling around her to signify this. All the posters used small print, and an age certification. The titles are easily seen and the tag line is the second largest sentence on the page, the tag line is the same as that in the trailer. The poster also includes the names the of the actresses. To create an effective film poster (which i believe i have) i have followed the conventions of similar films in the same horror genre thus developing that of a real media product so my poster is able to stand in line with them.
