Reflection Questions – Trailer Script planning Lesson:
What didyou do intoday’s lesson?
In today’slessonsthe tasksetoutwas to create a firstdraft of our script.The aimwas thatin our
groups,we woulddivide the filmtrailerlengthintofour parts– 30 secondseach,inwhichwe had to
write a scriptfor the specificperiodwe were assignedto.Betweenthe group,Iwasassignedforthe
thirdsectionof the trailer.Inmy section,GIBSON hasjustarrivedinthe police departmentreadyfor
an interrogationof the recent kidnappingof hisneighbour’sdaughter.Inthissection,GIBSON after
the interrogationgoeshome tofindhimself onamissiontolookforthe missingvictim(s).Oncoming
home afterthe search,hisneighbourconfrontshimangrily andunstably,once more inferringthat
whilsthe leftthe house andcome back,anothervictimhadbeentaken.The Neighbourtherefore
angrilyandphysicallywarnsGIBSON withhislife.

The challenges of producingascriptgo from the layoutanddesignof the scriptto the productionof
the task itself.Detailandresearchwasneededinordertostart a scriptfor the trailer. Thiscan be
seenonmy ‘Researchplanningfortrailerscript’.The biggestchallenge wasunderstandingwhere to
start and finishourseparate sections,sothattheywouldfitinwithothermembersof the group’s
script.For thisa detailedtenminute discussionwentoninordertodecide atwhichsceneswe start
and finishourscript.Asa group we came up witha conclusionandfromthere startedour script.
How did you overcome them?
A detailed gatheringwiththe groupproceededinorderforusto understandexactlyfromwhich
scene we bothstart and finishwritingourscript.Afterthiswe were clearof whateachmemberwas
doing,andhowfar theywouldwrite upto. Anotherchallenge thatcame wasthe designandlayout
of a typical trailerscript.ForthisI wentintoresearchto findtwointernetexamples,one withan
image whichclearafterbeingprinted,gave me anideaof how to structure and layoutmytrailer
script.These websitesalsointroducedtome the fontsneeded,page spacingof textandsoon.
