mood board analysis

1. I decided to make use of the image of a creepy
looking house as when I hear the word 'horror’ I
instantly think of a haunted house. We could use
this idea as a starting point when developing our
storyline. Haunted houses are stereotypically
linked to horror films which is why I made the
focus of my mood board the creepy looking
house.
When thinking about the genre horror, I think of blood
and violence, a sub genre of horror films. This is why I
have found a picture of a blood splatter and have used it
on my mood board. Blood is often linked to horror films
because of the violence within them. I think when
developing our story line, violence and the use of blood
will be discussed as a path to go down.
Within horror films there is usually a sense of
mystery occurring. This is why I have used an
image of a mask in my mood board. Masks
represent a face being hidden; often in horror films
I characters identify is hidden from the audience.
Mystery is another contributing factor we could
use in our horror film.
Using the word’s ‘lost’ and
'found’ within my mood
board creates the idea of
'lost and found’ used in
horror films. Sometimes
people or objects are lost or
kidnapped, in the case of
horror films, and then found.
The image of the foot prints
represent a sense of mystery used
in horror films. I decided to use
them as our storyline could be
based on a criminal horror
whereby foot prints could be used
as a clue. Foot prints represent
horror as more than just blood
and violence. This is a possible
factor to consider when
developing our storyline.
This image of a woman screaming helps to show old-
fashioned horror when there weren’t any special effects
but simply real life characters on screen. This feature of
horror films is still used today but often many films
contain special effects within them that make them
more than just a horror film with characters screaming in
them.
This image of trees represents the location of a
forest as many horror films are set in or use a
forest as a location. I thought it was important
to use an image of a forest in my mood board
as they are stereotypically linked to this film
genre. Using a forest as a location is something
we will discuss as we develop our storyline.
