Armenian Genocide Causes
What caused the Armenian Genocide? There were many reasons that could be tied to why the
Armenian Genocide happened, but there is no reason bigger than the fact that the Turkish
Government was unsatisfied with the religious state of the Armenians. The Armenians had
established their national religion as Christianity unlike Turkey who was mostly Muslim. The main
group that enforced this was called the Young Turks. The Young Turks were a group that had taken
control of Turkey. According to the United Human Rights Council, "[The Turkish Government]
exploited the religious, cultural, economic and political differences between Turks and Armenians
so that the average Turk came to regard Armenians as strangers among them." It started with the

The Turks gave Christian Armenians the brand of Infidels. The Turks favored the Turkish peasants
so much more than Armenians that Armenians were turned into pariahs or outcasts. According to
Rachel Beecroft, "Although Armenians were allowed the freedom to practice their faith, mass
persecution of Armenian citizens was a regular occurrence and Armenians were often scapegoated
for the Ottoman Empire's problems." The Turks continually put on anti–Armenian demonstrations
(Beecroft). Armenian Christians were not given as many rights as Muslims in the Ottoman Empire,
but they still succeeded in the Ottoman Empire. The Young Turks also put together killing squads
called "Special Organizations" These killing squads were put in place to carry out "the liquidation of
Christian elements." Christian Armenian children were also kidnapped and converted to Islam. After
the children were converted to Islam, they were given to Turkish families. Muslim families moved
into the homes of deported Armenians and seized their property ("Armenian Genocide"

Cultural Culture In Turkey
Culture is defined as "the beliefs, customs, arts, etc., of a particular society, group, place, or time",
according to Merriam–Webster (2016). Even though Turkey as a sovereign nation is fairly young,
it's cultural roots can be dated as far back as Alexander the Great. The Turkic people have an
extremely long history and a very diverse culture. Long before the establishment of the Republic of
Turkey in 1923, the area had seen its' fair share of war and strife. Since the Hellenization of the
Anatolian Peninsula by Alexander the Great, the area has seen a constant power struggle for an area
that was known as the Crossroads of the World (modern day Istanbul). Since Istanbul was once the
main trading hub of the known world, it's one of the most contributing factors for the countries' rich
and diverse culture. It is important to understand the differences between cultures so that we may
better understand our similarities. When met with other cultures it is possible to be offensive
without knowing it. Being that Turkey has many cultures that differ vastly, it could be quite easy for
an unknowledgeable tourist to be offensive. Taking the time to do research before traveling to new
areas might allow a person to save face, and avoid offense or embarrassment when visiting foreign
places.
The Turkish people have a rich and diverse culture. A factor that plays a major role in their culture is

Miraj Hammam Spa
Introduction Before starting any design process, the designer must consider doing a research and a
case study. Research is considered important for designers because it helps them highlight the key
elements and principles of design that are effective and helps them examine designs for holes or
mistakes. This allows the designer to learn from other designers mistakes and learn new effective
ideas. Case study is a great method of research that allows the designers to experience and visualize
the spaces, and helps them learn from other designers' experiences and previous designs as well as
what they chose for the space layout, materials, lighting and the like. Local and international spas
are the two designs that are to be examined and studied ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Growing stage
ECCO is a well–developed company. Each step they take they try to improve every stage in the
value chain. They are very efficient and you can see this in their increasing sales. They got
companies all over the world and one main objective is minimizing their costs. They do this by
example having companies all over world instead of exporting their goods. This will help ECCO
reduce taxes on export goods. They can do this in Turkey by creating their own factory and have
local employees.
Value chain
Ecco controls the entire value chain from cow to customer. One of Ecco's most important raw
materials is high–grade leather and that is the reason why they have operated their own tanneries in
the Netherlands, Thailand and Indonesia for many years. The tanneries help ensure that the
important raw material is always in compliance with Ecco's tough quality standards. Ecco's
tanneries are among the world's leading suppliers of high–quality leather for car and airplane seats,
gloves, bags and shoes manufactured by other companies. In order to meet the growing demand,
they initiated the construction of a tannery near the factory in Xiamen, China in October 2007. The

Key Elements Of Women In Mustang : Crench Film...
Mustang is an internationally produced Turkish–French film of the drama genre that was initially
released at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival. The film follows five orphaned girls residing with their
Grandmother and Uncle Erol in contemporary conservative Turkey; when they are spotted
socialising with a group of males on a beach, they are trained in activities such as cooking that are
seen as being the role of women in Turkey. The film uses the key elements of film form in order to
achieve this and reflect other cultural and historical contexts.
Firstly, the film uses the elements of film form to reflect historical and political contexts. Since the
rise to power of the AKP government in 2002, Turkey has been held Islamic attitudes very ... Show

Furthermore, the Conservative views of the area in which the main characters live is reflected
through the mise–en–scene. For instance, the costumes that the Grandmother and Mrs. Petek wear
during the scene where the girls confront the latter for reporting their activities on the beach appear
very conservative. Adult characters are often shot at a high–angle, which is intended to create the
representation of them having significant authority over the younger protagonist. These are some of
the ways in which political and historical contexts are reflected through film form.
The film also utilises film form to reflect cultural contexts, as shown during the first wedding
sequence. Sound is used to emphasise how traditional Selma's wedding is–the music being played
sounds very typical of the setting, and Erol even fires gunshots during the scene (more than is
necessary, reflecting his obnoxious nature, providing key character information to the spectator in
the process). The significant prop of the gun perhaps foreshadows the scene of Ece committing
suicide as a result of Erol sexually abusing her. The gunshot SFX are louder in that scene, connoting
its importance in the narrative. This, in turn, forms the reflection of another cultural context: the fact
that killing oneself is a sin in Islam–Erol appears more angry at such an act than upset at his niece
being dead (as shown through the actor's facial expression and tone of

Swot Analysis : Airline Airlines
1. SWOT Analysis Strength Turkish airlines achieved double digit growth in traffic and revenues
due to its domestic market, which is one of the largest and fastest growing markets, and increase in
international transfers. As mentioned before Turkish Airlines is one of the star airlines of recent
years not also in Europe but also through the world. To analyze the facts affecting the company if
we try to make a SWOT analysis we will figure out some conclusions listed below. As for strengths
of the company the following features may be mentioned. 1. Geographical advantage: a natural hub
and a growing domestic market Turkey has a geopolitically important place in the world, a cross–
road of continents like a bridge between Asia and Europe. Besides this, the country has one of the
biggest populations of Europe with nearly 80 million inhabitants. Because of the country's growing
GDP a great potential of air travel emerging which was relatively underpenetrated by air travel
when compared with the larger Western European countries. The figure below shows the relatively
steady growth in GDP and number of domestic and international flights of Turkish market. The
positive relation between GDP and number of flights can be derived from the graph. Figure Source:

Turkey As A Country State
Turkey Turkey in my opinion is one the most underrated countries in the eastern world. It is a
beautiful country with an expansive culture and society. Turkey is essentially the bridge of where
the East meets the West in that area of the world. Founded in 1923, Turkey to this day is one of the
only country in the world with a Muslim Democracy. Its interesting political history combined with
the rich culture that resides in Turkey creates a very unique nation–states. But how exactly did
Turkey become the nation–state it is today, and what even makes it a nation–state in the first place?
These are questions that must be addressed in order to truly understand Turkey as a country. In order
to look at the history of Turkey, we have to understand what a nation–state truly is. It isn't quite the
same as either a nation or a state, but somewhere in between. A state, according to An Introduction
to Global Studies, is a fixed territory with boundaries, a population, a government, and the capacity
to enter into relation with other states (Campbell et al, 32). While this description sounds awfully
similar to a nation, there are actually some key differences. A nation is actually a shared culture or
ethnic identity, instead of being legally recognized by geography. Nations are not based on territory,
but instead based on culture. So, with these differentiations between a nation and a state, a nation–
state is a nice blend of the two. A nation–state is a very specific kind of state,

Compound Nouns Essay
Objective This year my third grade class began a lesson on compound nouns. We began by playing a
matching game. Each child picked a card with a word on it. They then had to try to find a partner
who had another word that would pair up with theirs to make a new word. The children were very
excited, but no one made the connection with compound words. Once they were paired up, each
student said their word and their new word. At this point, they started guessing that we ere going to
talk about compound nouns. I observed the children's excitement begin to diminish when they
realized they were not just playing but learning too. I heard one of my boys whisper to a friend,
"She tricked us again." "Yeah, she's always good for that," was the response. At this point, I asked
the children if anyone could guess my favorite compound noun. Since this seemed like another
game, the energy level began to rise. With no one guessing the correct answer, I told them my
favorite compound noun was 'grasshopper.' They began to laugh and wanted to know why. I told
them it was because I loved to eat grasshopper pie. There were lots of laughs and kids shouting
gross. I asked them if they had ever had grasshopper pie and of course, no one had. Throughout
many of my lessons I use a cross curricular approach, so this lesson fit right in. To incorporate math,
we made a chart that showed how many students thought they would like grasshopper pie. Most of
the boys were talking

Analysis Of The Article ' What Should The U.s. Do About...
The article "What should the U.S. do about ISIS? Show Sunnis we care" by Charles Lister is about
what Charles Lister thinks the United States should do to combat ISIS. It has a prescriptive issue
and a conclusion. A prescriptive issue is a question about how the world should be. A conclusion is
an answer to the question asked by the issue that the author wants the reader to accept. Some
significant ambiguity is also present in Lister's article. Significant ambiguity is a word or statement
that is unclear, and the word's meaning affects the reader's ability to accept the conclusion. I will
prove that I have found the correct issue and conclusion and some significant ambiguity using text
from Lister's article. The issue in the article "What should the U.S. do about ISIS? Show Sunnis we
care" by Charles Lister is "How should the United States respond to ISIS." Proof of this issue can be
found in Lister's writing. In the first paragraph he states that the United States cannot defeat ISIS
militarily. The U.S. must help improve the sociopolitical issues in the Middle East. These two
statements answer the issue I put forth. The second and third paragraphs discuss how ISIS has not
only attracted foreigners to fight in its jihad; it has also befriended the oppressed Sunni Muslims.
The Sunnis, consequently, are allowing ISIS to work freely in their territory. Paragraph three asks
the question are the Sunnis still loyal to their country, or are they only loyal to their religion

The Turkish Language Reform And Its Effect Of The Turkish...
The Turkish Language Reform And Its Effects
Linguists consider language as a living asset. It rises, develops and eventually dies. If we consider
the language our grandparents use, we surely remark some differences with our language usage. My
grandmother still says " bencileyin" instead of " benim gibi" for instance. The improving
technology, the intercultural attainability ,etc...bring new words into our vocabulary or change their
actual meaning. Although language develops naturally through generations, in history we can see
examples of active intervention of authorities in languages. The language reform in Turkey is an
example of such an intervention. The fledging Turkish government obviously needed an attempt in

In may 1928 were the numbers were changed into Latin numbers which was followed by the
alteration of the Arabic alphabet into the Latin alphabet in November 1928. On the first of January
1929 it became unlawful to use Arabic letters to write Turkish. These steps were progressive , albeit
not comprehensive enough. An organizing and supervisory power was needed to regulate and
dominate the process. On account of this need, The Turkish Language Society was founded on 12
June 1932. The members of the society were in charge of collecting and disseminating the pure
Turkish vocabulary as an alternative to the Ottoman Turkish ones. A few examples of these words
are: "Cenub" (‫)جنوب‬, the Ottoman Turkish word for " South", became "Güney", "ecnebi"(‫)اجنبی‬,
meaning stranger became "yabancı" or "el" and "hakikat" (‫)حقيقت‬ became "gerçek", which means the
truth . Most of the altered words were accepted by the folk and the old ones were fallen out of
currency; nevertheless, some have kept their usage until today. A good example of such an
evergreen word is affetmek, which means to forgive, was changed by the new Turkish equivalent
bağışlamak but the chance of hearing the old version when you talk to a Turk is quite high .In 1934
lists of Turkish words began to be published so that everybody was aware of the new vocabulary. A
year later in 1935 those new words began to appear in newspapers and the common people became
more and more familiar with the alphabet as well as the new vocabulary. In summary, due to the
language planning attempts in the 20's and 30's the Turkish Language Society was founded, which
was a milestone for the development of the

This resulted in a fundamental increase to the position of the Turkish in World War One, and

A Free Democratic Environment : The Farmer 's Wife By...
Imagine, you're working in the fields, to prepare the ground for sowing the seed. It's like 100
degrees outside, sun is burning and you are crawling all over the place. Who would you be? The
farmer? His donkey, who carries the tool along the field? Or the farmer's wife? It's actually the
farmer's wife! Do you know why? Prior to Turkey's independence, women had not any rights other
than working in the fields, keeping the household and raising the children! Eligible for Education?
Negative! Is that ethical? Are those "rights" considered to be women rights? Would this occur in a
free democratic environment? Definitely not!
Mustafa Kemal Atatürk did not accept this old fashioned Islamic mindset, which was still dictated
by the Ottoman Empire. He had the idea to lead Turkey into a democratic, independent future,
because he was a visionary and ethical leader he took action.
Visionary Leader
The MP1 reflects his visions, why he wanted to rebuild the nation.
He underlined his intentions as follows: "I will lead my people by the hand along the road until their
feet are sure and they know the way. Then they may choose for themselves and rule themselves.
Then my work will be done."

Racism And Imperialism And Nationalism During The Interwar...
Imperialism and Nationalism during the Interwar Period
During the interwar period, Turkey and India were breeding grounds for nationalism. Nationalism –
a shared group feeling linked by a geographical (sometimes demographical) region seeking
independence – is a threat to imperialism, the exploitation of land and resources of a conquered
nation. By comparing and contrasting their effects we are able to shape our understanding of
strained relationships, political and social reform.
In both countries, the damaged relationships between the natives and their invaders caused
significant harm. To illustrate, "the Big Three encouraged the Greek government to [invade and]
control . . . the Turks [and] also the Italians, who were [attempting to colonize] Turkey . . ." (Page
64). Then in August 1920, the Triple Entente created "the Treaty of Sèvres [which] divided
[Anatolia] into French, Italian and American spheres of influence, with Smryna becoming a Greek
protectorate" (Page 65). In other words, it is evident that woven throughout Turkey's history are
attempts to suppress their sovereignty. Likewise, a similar struggle against Europeans was also
continuous in India's long history of English colonization. In 1919, the Montagu–Chelmsform
reforms initiated a 'dyarchy' which put the South Asian ministers in charge of healthcare, education,
and agriculture; while the English maintained control of the economy, law enforcement, and the
legal system. Consequently, outraged Indians

differences.
In 1918, the Ottoman Turks were already independent, and consequently the allies (the United
States, Great Britain, and France) wanted to make them pay. They were going to divide the Turkish
territory among themselves. These were the conditions in Turkey at the time. The Turks' feelings
about being split up between the allies and the Greeks were very simple. Obviously they didn't

He got rid of the Ottoman empire, overthrew the Sultan, and made Turkey a republic. Next, Kemal
secularized Turkey (secularized– no main religion in place). Turkey had been an Islamic Empire but
when Kemal overthrew the Sultan, the religion was no longer dominant. Kemal tried to separate
church and state, like the Europeans. No established religion, none was above the other. Religion
was now a private affair. This was a revolutionary move on Kemal's part. Kemal basically tried to
modernize Turkey.
Lastly, Kemal established new laws, saying that women were no longer forced to wear the veil, the
mark under Muslim customs of their seclusion from public life. In traditional Islam society, women
couldn't show themselves in public to keep men holy and prevent impure thoughts from entering
men's minds. Kemal did away with this. Women were to be equal and become part of public life,
and get educated, get a job, and no longer had to wear the veil. All of these established efforts were
major contributions for Turkey by Kemal.
Mohandas Gandhi was borned in 1869. He married at 13 and in 1891, completed his studies. In
order to devote himself selflessly to his work, he denounced all worldly possessions mainly for the
purpose to free India of British rule. People working with Gandhi protested their rights in a non–

his pleas for freedom. On August 15,

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk
INTRODUCTION
Mustafa Kemal Ataturk was the first president of the republic of Turkey. He was known to be a
remarkable leader, reformer and a hero (Atillasoy, 2013). His great leadership display in the military
led to reformation and nation building (Byrne, 2003). The purpose of this report is to embrace a
balanced view on the life and work of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk including his strengths and

characteristics and qualities against the characteristics. Also, I will be defining leadership and

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was born in 1881 in Salonika. At the age of 12, he was sent to military

Allied invasion at the Dardanelles. After that, he began a nationalist revolution in Anatolia,
organising resistance to the peace settlement imposed on Turkey by the victorious Allies of which
he was victorious (BBC, 2014).

The Banning Of The Headscarf
In most countries around the world, it is not uncommon to see a woman in an article of clothing that
is representative of the Muslim faith and history. This type of dress is typically worn in countries
located in the Middle East. The wardrobe of a woman in these countries would contain articles such
as an al–Amira, burka, or a hijab. Some women wear these clothing items for religious or traditional
purposes, but others wear them solely by choice. However, there are certain countries around the
world that oppose the wearing of certain Muslim–style clothing. One country in particular, Turkey,
does not issue total support of the wearing of headscarves for women. In fact, the government has
issued a ban on the wearing of headscarves by women in government facilitated places. The banning
of the headscarf is a heavily debated subject in Turkey due to political and social beliefs of the
Turkish people. Since the ban was put into existence, the Turkish people, specifically women, have
felt the negative effects that have resulted from it. The headscarf is an item of clothing that is worn
by Turkish women for several reasons, not solely for religious practices. The scarf has a deep
history behind it, stemming from the Ottoman influence on the Middle East. Since the beginning of
the headscarf wearing, the framework of the headscarf has developed into many different ideals.

Turkey Research Paper
The history is always a good place to start when you are writing a paper over countries. The history
of Turkey is pretty interesting to talk about. During the 1300s a group of Turks also know for as the
Ottomans founded a principality in Northwestern Anatolia. Which means the Ottoman created an
empire and that empire soon became one of the most powerful empires in the world. With that being
said later on in 1939–1945 Turkish sided with the democratic western nations during and after
World War II. Now switching from history over to geography, agriculture in Turkey is widely
practiced in the Northwestern and the Southwestern of Turkey. Now you notice that the Eastern part
of Turkey wasn't mentioned, that is because the Eastern parts of turkey are the most mountainous
parts, which tells you that it's very difficult to practice agriculture there. Now a little more about
mountains are that many peaks in Turkey exceed 10,000 feet at the least. Turkey's highest point is
Mt. Ararat which peaks at 16,948 feet, which is very tall compared to the "smaller" ones. Another

Nanda Home achieving rapid success in first few years through the launch of Clocky in America has
been experiencing decrease of revenue. To sustain success in previous years, Nanda Home needs to
be aware of the failures on branding its company and products. The purpose of this essay is to
evaluate the failure on sustaining Clocky's appeal, and to analyze the market situation of Turkey to
make recommendation to brand Nanda Home and Clocky successfully based on the branding goal
of awareness and function.
Although Nanda Home innovated a movable alarm clock, Clocky, it was not able to aware the target
market, leading to a lack of sense of loyalty of customers. Nanda Home designed Clocky with
funny, playful and lifelike appearance and function of rolling around to attract both need and fun
markets. The essential functions of Clocky gained the support of people suffering from serious sleep
disorders and inability to wake up but the size of need market is too small to sustain a revenue
growth. Meanwhile, the reaction of consumers in fun market towards Clocky was not as desirable as
what Nanda Home expected. The popularity of Clocky and Nanda Home is a fad that the
unattractive appearance and high price of Clocky could not retain customers in fun market. The
easily replaceable function of alarm clock by mobile phone and the existence of counterfeit products
at lower price further discouraged the purchase of Clocky from Nanda Home. Though Nanda Home

The transition of a multinational empire to a nation state has happened; therefore, Turkey's national
identity has been established. In the creation of this identity, qualification of individuals as a 'citizen'
has been a crucial point. Ataturk found the path for the public administration by setting a new
democracy which is "Republic". Secondly, Populism means being against class differences and
inequalities, and not accepting the individuals, families, classes, and organizations being above one
another. The Republican Revolution also has the characteristic of the social revolution. At first,
including the Swiss civil code, Western laws were applied in Turkey, so, there have been changes in
the status of women, in 1934, being able to elect or be elected by others. Moreover, Ataturk had also
improved the idea of laicism. Laicism, despite the fact that it separates state from religion; it also
means that education, culture, and other living areas, being independent of religion. Thus, it means
the freedom of thinking and expressing your thoughts without including religion. In the aspect of
Ataturk, laicism had to come to Turkey, in order to bring peace between the citizens of this country.

Analysis of Politics in The Republic of Turkey
The book follows the author's preceding work on the two Ankara parliaments during the War of
Independence and studies the parliaments of the Republic of Turkey from 1923 to 1946, roughly the
time known as the single party period when the political power was monopolized by the Republican
People's Party (CHP – Cumhuriyet Halk Fırkası/Partisi). In his former research Demirel had given a
large place to political disputes in the Turkish parliament by highlighting the actions of the fraction
opposed to the group under the guidance of Mustafa Kemal (Atatürk). The scope of his research has
changed, since the parliaments he deals with were composed nearly exclusively by deputies of the
single party, giving way to what Mete Tunçay has called an "unanimous democracy" (24).
Nevertheless, the book is part of a historiographical current that challenges the discourse the
kemalist regime has had on its proper history and insists on political contradictions in the formative
processes of the early Republic. In his analysis, the author draws mostly upon the official
parliamentary publication, with some references to the press and to memoirs by leading politicians.
He meticulously scrutinizes the composition of the six parliaments from 1923 to 1946 and presents
valuable empirical data on the deputies, like age, geographical origin, education, profession, or
seniority in parliament. Demirel processes the empirical data by analyzing the transition between
two parliaments, and highlighting the

Case #1: the National Socialists, mid 1900s, Germany The National Socialists Party, better known
as the Nazi party, was created in 1920 and was just one of many fascist groups in Germany.
Mussolini, the initiator of fascism, defined it as following: "in fascism the state dominates
everything else: for the Fascist the state is all–embracing; outside it no human or spiritual values
exist, much less have worth. In this sense Fascism is totalitarian, and that Fascist State – a synthesis
and a unity of all values – interprets, develops, and gives power to the whole life of the people." A

The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe
It was much pleasanter at home, ' thought poor Alice, `when one wasn 't always growing larger and
smaller, and being ordered about by mice and rabbits. I almost wish I hadn 't gone down that rabbit–
hole––and yet––and yet––it 's rather curious, you know, this sort of life! I do wonder what can have
happened to me". Lewis Carroll 's "Alice in Wonderland" which takes the reader into the fantasy
world of rabbit holes and mad hatters, magic cakes and secret doors, very articulately conveys that
food can be used as a temptation or as a ploy tool to trap the protagonist to indulge in mischievous
activities. Caroll's Alice not only instantaneously grows in size when she eats certain foods but also
shrinks when she eats or drinks certain things as well. Food fantasies play a very crucial role in
children's literature be it in Alice in Wonderland or C.S. Lewis'1950 allegorical novel , The Lion, the
Witch, and the Wardrobe. Both these fantastical stories focus on interpersonal conflicts and food
fantasies of the child protagonist. Lewis's novel reflects Edmund Penvensie's weakness for sweet
foods, which are quickly discerned by the White Witch. Both Caroll and Lewis allude the
significance of food in relation to adulthood and childhood, using food as a dichotomic symbol for
empowerment and domination and as a medium for didactic teachings.. In these fantasy stories and
in their imaginary worlds children are allowed to enjoy enticing foods that perhaps do not exist in
reality, which

Global Opportunities for Turkey Essay
Global Opportunities for Turkey The world is becoming much more connected, especially in the last
few decades. The idea of being free individuals has become more important, as well as free market
economies. Some ideologies have collapsed because of their antiquated offers about the political
situations, yet some of them are ruling the world in the last hundred years. But if there is something
certain about the whole world, it is that globalization is affecting and changing it. Turkey is located
at the center of the Europe, Asia and Africa, therefore the political and economical circumstances of
it are important both for the Western part and the Eastern part of the world, then, the role of the

There are many examples as well as these two in the book, but I think that they are sufficient to
explain that the 'combining' situation more effectively, that is one of the fundamentals of
globalization. Just three of four decades before, the situation of Turkey in the free market was very
poor. There was no opportunity to find a product of a brand that is famous world widely. You could
not buy cola, you could not buy blue jeans, you could not buy good fashioned cars, etc. You can't
even taste the traditional foods of the other countries, like Italian foods or Chinese cuisine. I may
give much more interesting example that in the late 1970s, nearly all of the cinemas, including the
major ones in the country had closed or in fact, crashed. Maybe you may not believe but, until the
closing, in every town in every city, even in the many of the villages, there were cinemas. But after
that, people could not find a cinema to watch the new picture of Marlon Brando or Robert De Niro

The Marriage Process in Turkish Culture
The Marriage Process In Turkish Culture
The United States is a country, founded on freedom, immersed with immigrants hoping to secure
their independence and reconstruct their lives. The United States, unlike many other countries, is
made up entirely of different cultures and ethnic groups. This country is home to many middle–
eastern citizens, with a great majority of Turkish Americans. According to the Embassy of the
United States, there are currently 500,000 Americans with "Turkic" descent (TMPFA). The
existence of Turkish families in the country is a positive one as their talent, creativity and hard work
strengthens our nation. The struggle of these people to adjust to American society can be
demanding, but many Turkish people choose to carry on their family traditions. The aim of this
paper is to analyze the partner selection, engagement process and wedding ceremonies of Turkish
couples within the United States.
The partner selection in Turkish culture customarily requires acceptance by both families, along
with incorporation of traditional gender roles and courtship. Family acceptance of the unmarried
couples is of high importance to Turkish culture. It is expected that a prospective single marry
within their social class and religion. Marriage within the same social class is necessary because of
the separation seen in Turkey. Turkey is very unlike the United States in the sense that there is a
very large social gap between the rich and poor, with a very small middle

Migration of Turkic Tribes
Migration is the movement of people from one place to another to settle and live in the new area.
Nowadays, the number of moving people exceeds 200 million (World Migration Report 2010 – The
Future of Migration: Building Capacities for Change. International Organization for Migration.
2010). In the ancient times the number of moving people was little, but the causes were
approximately the same. Especially, migration of ancient Turks had a significant role in formulation
of world civilizations. Their migration periods cover several thousand years. The most famous
migration stage of Turks was in the II–VII centuries, well known as Migration Period. Turkic tribes
migrated and spread their habitation because of three main factors. The first and the most significant
cause of Turkic migration is related to economic issues. Many Turkic tribes migrated because of
crisis and famine in their country. The famine derived from climate changes and severe climate in
different periods. Living in difficult life circumstances, Turkic tribes decided to move in order to
find fruitful lands. Especially, during the Migration Period, in 395, Huns (Turks) moved to Europe
because of famine. Moreover, some Turkic groups migrated to wide steppes in order to find and
extend their pastures. While the amount of people and cattle were increasing, it was difficult to
accommodate animals with pastures. For instance, Yuruks ('Walkers'), who initially settled in
Eastern Anatolia, moved to Western Anatolia to

Turkey Culture Essay
The culture of my country, Turkey, combines an extremely diverse, as well as, a heterogeneous set
of elements that have been derived from the various cultures of the Caucasian, Central Asian,
Eastern European and Eastern Mediterranean (West Asian) traditions. The majority of these
traditions were originally brought together by the Ottoman Empire. The Ottoman Empire is a multi–
ethnic and a multi–religious state. During the early years of the republic, the government invested a
really large amount of resources into fine arts such as architecture, paintings and sculpture. This was
done as both a process of modernization and of creating a cultural identity. Due to the different
historical factors defining the Turkish identity, the culture of Turkey combines clear efforts of
modernization and Westernization undertaken in varying degrees since the 1800's, with a
simultaneous desire to maintain traditional religion, as well as, historical values. Turkish cuisine
inherited its Ottoman heritage which could also be described as a fusion and refinement of
Armenian, Greek, Persian and Turkic cuisines. Turkish cuisine also influenced these cuisines and
other neighboring cuisines, as well as, Western European cuisines. Ottomans fused various culinary
traditions of their realm with influences from Middle Eastern cuisines, along with traditional Turkic
elements from Central Asia such as yogurt. The Ottoman Empire created a vast variety of technical
specialties. It can be observed that

The following political policies led to marginalize official minorities such as Greeks, Armenians and
Jews. They spoke different languages in the community and this situation conflicted with nationalist
policies of government. Ahıska and Yenal note "Vatandaş Türkçe Konuş (Citizen Talk Turkish)
campaign, posed a threat to minority groups and their native languages by attempting to marginalize
them within the community." (47) This analysis and these strict prohibitions show us the intensive
political pressure on the minority groups. Another vital point is the Turkish government did not
recognize even the Kurdish, Arabic, Circassian tongues because of the mainstream nationalist
discourse persecuted to the community. Until the liberalization period, those kinds of pressures and
attrition policies densely influenced the Turkish language's evolution. In 1980's, Turgut Özal
introduced imported goods as a consequence Turkish people became familiar with foreign terms and
brands. As the article stated "foreign brands entered common usage, Turkish products were also
outfitted with brand names borrowing foreign word."(Ahıska and Yenal 47) In the end, the Turkish
language has accomplished the political interventions era.

Armenian Genocide Causes

  • 1. Armenian Genocide Causes What caused the Armenian Genocide? There were many reasons that could be tied to why the Armenian Genocide happened, but there is no reason bigger than the fact that the Turkish Government was unsatisfied with the religious state of the Armenians. The Armenians had established their national religion as Christianity unlike Turkey who was mostly Muslim. The main group that enforced this was called the Young Turks. The Young Turks were a group that had taken control of Turkey. According to the United Human Rights Council, "[The Turkish Government] exploited the religious, cultural, economic and political differences between Turks and Armenians so that the average Turk came to regard Armenians as strangers among them." It started with the Armenians ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Turks gave Christian Armenians the brand of Infidels. The Turks favored the Turkish peasants so much more than Armenians that Armenians were turned into pariahs or outcasts. According to Rachel Beecroft, "Although Armenians were allowed the freedom to practice their faith, mass persecution of Armenian citizens was a regular occurrence and Armenians were often scapegoated for the Ottoman Empire's problems." The Turks continually put on anti–Armenian demonstrations (Beecroft). Armenian Christians were not given as many rights as Muslims in the Ottoman Empire, but they still succeeded in the Ottoman Empire. The Young Turks also put together killing squads called "Special Organizations" These killing squads were put in place to carry out "the liquidation of Christian elements." Christian Armenian children were also kidnapped and converted to Islam. After the children were converted to Islam, they were given to Turkish families. Muslim families moved into the homes of deported Armenians and seized their property ("Armenian Genocide" ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Cultural Culture In Turkey Culture is defined as "the beliefs, customs, arts, etc., of a particular society, group, place, or time", according to Merriam–Webster (2016). Even though Turkey as a sovereign nation is fairly young, it's cultural roots can be dated as far back as Alexander the Great. The Turkic people have an extremely long history and a very diverse culture. Long before the establishment of the Republic of Turkey in 1923, the area had seen its' fair share of war and strife. Since the Hellenization of the Anatolian Peninsula by Alexander the Great, the area has seen a constant power struggle for an area that was known as the Crossroads of the World (modern day Istanbul). Since Istanbul was once the main trading hub of the known world, it's one of the most contributing factors for the countries' rich and diverse culture. It is important to understand the differences between cultures so that we may better understand our similarities. When met with other cultures it is possible to be offensive without knowing it. Being that Turkey has many cultures that differ vastly, it could be quite easy for an unknowledgeable tourist to be offensive. Taking the time to do research before traveling to new areas might allow a person to save face, and avoid offense or embarrassment when visiting foreign places. The Turkish people have a rich and diverse culture. A factor that plays a major role in their culture is Turkey shares a border with eight countries. Turkey is bordered by Greece, ... • 3. Miraj Hammam Spa Introduction Before starting any design process, the designer must consider doing a research and a case study. Research is considered important for designers because it helps them highlight the key elements and principles of design that are effective and helps them examine designs for holes or mistakes. This allows the designer to learn from other designers mistakes and learn new effective ideas. Case study is a great method of research that allows the designers to experience and visualize the spaces, and helps them learn from other designers' experiences and previous designs as well as what they chose for the space layout, materials, lighting and the like. Local and international spas are the two designs that are to be examined and studied ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Turkish, Moroccan style is brought by how the designers have indicated materials from the exterior to the interior. Inside the spa, the use of branding can be seen in every single element in the spa, from material choice, colour selection and lighting to the décor elements. Product lifecycle Growing stage ECCO is a well–developed company. Each step they take they try to improve every stage in the value chain. They are very efficient and you can see this in their increasing sales. They got companies all over the world and one main objective is minimizing their costs. They can do this in Turkey by creating their own factory and have local employees. Value chain Ecco controls the entire value chain from cow to customer. One of Ecco's most important raw materials is high–grade leather and that is the reason why they have operated their own tanneries in the Netherlands, Thailand and Indonesia for many years. • 6. Key Elements Of Women In Mustang : Crench Film... Mustang is an internationally produced Turkish–French film of the drama genre that was initially released at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival. The film follows five orphaned girls residing with their Grandmother and Uncle Erol in contemporary conservative Turkey; when they are spotted socialising with a group of males on a beach, they are trained in activities such as cooking that are seen as being the role of women in Turkey. The film uses the key elements of film form in order to achieve this and reflect other cultural and historical contexts. Firstly, the film uses the elements of film form to reflect historical and political contexts. Since the rise to power of the AKP government in 2002, Turkey has been held Islamic attitudes very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, the Conservative views of the area in which the main characters live is reflected through the mise–en–scene. For instance, the costumes that the Grandmother and Mrs. Petek wear during the scene where the girls confront the latter for reporting their activities on the beach appear very conservative. Adult characters are often shot at a high–angle, which is intended to create the representation of them having significant authority over the younger protagonist. These are some of the ways in which political and historical contexts are reflected through film form. The film also utilises film form to reflect cultural contexts, as shown during the first wedding sequence. Sound is used to emphasise how traditional Selma's wedding is–the music being played sounds very typical of the setting, and Erol even fires gunshots during the scene (more than is necessary, reflecting his obnoxious nature, providing key character information to the spectator in the process). The significant prop of the gun perhaps foreshadows the scene of Ece committing suicide as a result of Erol sexually abusing her. The gunshot SFX are louder in that scene, connoting its importance in the narrative. This, in turn, forms the reflection of another cultural context: the fact that killing oneself is a sin in Islam–Erol appears more angry at such an act than upset at his niece being dead (as shown through the actor's facial expression and tone of ... • 10. Turkey As A Country State Turkey Turkey in my opinion is one the most underrated countries in the eastern world. It is a beautiful country with an expansive culture and society. Turkey is essentially the bridge of where the East meets the West in that area of the world. Founded in 1923, Turkey to this day is one of the only country in the world with a Muslim Democracy. Its interesting political history combined with the rich culture that resides in Turkey creates a very unique nation–states. But how exactly did Turkey become the nation–state it is today, and what even makes it a nation–state in the first place? These are questions that must be addressed in order to truly understand Turkey as a country. In order to look at the history of Turkey, we have to understand what a nation–state truly is. It isn't quite the same as either a nation or a state, but somewhere in between. A state, according to An Introduction to Global Studies, is a fixed territory with boundaries, a population, a government, and the capacity to enter into relation with other states (Campbell et al, 32). While this description sounds awfully similar to a nation, there are actually some key differences. A nation is actually a shared culture or ethnic identity, instead of being legally recognized by geography. Nations are not based on territory, but instead based on culture. So, with these differentiations between a nation and a state, a nation– state is a nice blend of the two. A nation–state is a very specific kind of state, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Compound Nouns Essay Objective This year my third grade class began a lesson on compound nouns. We began by playing a matching game. Each child picked a card with a word on it. They then had to try to find a partner who had another word that would pair up with theirs to make a new word. The children were very excited, but no one made the connection with compound words. Once they were paired up, each student said their word and their new word. At this point, they started guessing that we ere going to talk about compound nouns. I observed the children's excitement begin to diminish when they realized they were not just playing but learning too. I heard one of my boys whisper to a friend, "She tricked us again." "Yeah, she's always good for that," was the response. At this point, I asked the children if anyone could guess my favorite compound noun. Since this seemed like another game, the energy level began to rise. With no one guessing the correct answer, I told them my favorite compound noun was 'grasshopper.' They began to laugh and wanted to know why. I told them it was because I loved to eat grasshopper pie. There were lots of laughs and kids shouting gross. I asked them if they had ever had grasshopper pie and of course, no one had. Throughout many of my lessons I use a cross curricular approach, so this lesson fit right in. To incorporate math, we made a chart that showed how many students thought they would like grasshopper pie. Most of the boys were talking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Analysis Of The Article ' What Should The U.s. Do About... The article "What should the U.S. do about ISIS? Show Sunnis we care" by Charles Lister is about what Charles Lister thinks the United States should do to combat ISIS. It has a prescriptive issue and a conclusion. A prescriptive issue is a question about how the world should be. A conclusion is an answer to the question asked by the issue that the author wants the reader to accept. Some significant ambiguity is also present in Lister's article. Significant ambiguity is a word or statement that is unclear, and the word's meaning affects the reader's ability to accept the conclusion. I will prove that I have found the correct issue and conclusion and some significant ambiguity using text from Lister's article. The issue in the article "What should the U.S. do about ISIS? Show Sunnis we care" by Charles Lister is "How should the United States respond to ISIS." Proof of this issue can be found in Lister's writing. In the first paragraph he states that the United States cannot defeat ISIS militarily. The U.S. must help improve the sociopolitical issues in the Middle East. These two statements answer the issue I put forth. The second and third paragraphs discuss how ISIS has not only attracted foreigners to fight in its jihad; it has also befriended the oppressed Sunni Muslims. The Sunnis, consequently, are allowing ISIS to work freely in their territory. Paragraph three asks the question are the Sunnis still loyal to their country, or are they only loyal to their religion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On the first of January 1929 it became unlawful to use Arabic letters to write Turkish. These steps were progressive , albeit not comprehensive enough. An organizing and supervisory power was needed to regulate and dominate the process. On account of this need, The Turkish Language Society was founded on 12 June 1932. The members of the society were in charge of collecting and disseminating the pure Turkish vocabulary as an alternative to the Ottoman Turkish ones. A few examples of these words are: "Cenub" (‫)جنوب‬, the Ottoman Turkish word for " South", became "Güney", "ecnebi"(‫)اجنبی‬, meaning stranger became "yabancı" or "el" and "hakikat" (‫)حقيقت‬ became "gerçek", which means the truth . Most of the altered words were accepted by the folk and the old ones were fallen out of currency; nevertheless, some have kept their usage until today. A good example of such an evergreen word is affetmek, which means to forgive, was changed by the new Turkish equivalent bağışlamak but the chance of hearing the old version when you talk to a Turk is quite high .In 1934 lists of Turkish words began to be published so that everybody was aware of the new vocabulary. A year later in 1935 those new words began to appear in newspapers and the common people became more and more familiar with the alphabet as well as the new vocabulary. It's actually the farmer's wife! Do you know why? Prior to Turkey's independence, women had not any rights other than working in the fields, keeping the household and raising the children! Eligible for Education? Negative! Is that ethical? Are those "rights" considered to be women rights? Would this occur in a free democratic environment? Definitely not! • 16. Racism And Imperialism And Nationalism During The Interwar... Imperialism and Nationalism during the Interwar Period During the interwar period, Turkey and India were breeding grounds for nationalism. Nationalism – a shared group feeling linked by a geographical (sometimes demographical) region seeking independence – is a threat to imperialism, the exploitation of land and resources of a conquered nation. By comparing and contrasting their effects we are able to shape our understanding of strained relationships, political and social reform. In both countries, the damaged relationships between the natives and their invaders caused significant harm. To illustrate, "the Big Three encouraged the Greek government to [invade and] control . . . the Turks [and] also the Italians, who were [attempting to colonize] Turkey . . ." (Page 64). Then in August 1920, the Triple Entente created "the Treaty of Sèvres [which] divided [Anatolia] into French, Italian and American spheres of influence, with Smryna becoming a Greek protectorate" (Page 65). In other words, it is evident that woven throughout Turkey's history are attempts to suppress their sovereignty. Likewise, a similar struggle against Europeans was also continuous in India's long history of English colonization. In 1919, the Montagu–Chelmsform reforms initiated a 'dyarchy' which put the South Asian ministers in charge of healthcare, education, and agriculture; while the English maintained control of the economy, law enforcement, and the legal system. Consequently, outraged Indians ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

No established religion, none was above the other. Religion was now a private affair. This was a revolutionary move on Kemal's part. Kemal basically tried to modernize Turkey. Lastly, Kemal established new laws, saying that women were no longer forced to wear the veil, the mark under Muslim customs of their seclusion from public life. In traditional Islam society, women couldn't show themselves in public to keep men holy and prevent impure thoughts from entering men's minds. Kemal did away with this. Analysis of Politics in The Republic of Turkey The book follows the author's preceding work on the two Ankara parliaments during the War of Independence and studies the parliaments of the Republic of Turkey from 1923 to 1946, roughly the time known as the single party period when the political power was monopolized by the Republican People's Party (CHP – Cumhuriyet Halk Fırkası/Partisi). In his former research Demirel had given a large place to political disputes in the Turkish parliament by highlighting the actions of the fraction opposed to the group under the guidance of Mustafa Kemal (Atatürk). The scope of his research has changed, since the parliaments he deals with were composed nearly exclusively by deputies of the single party, giving way to what Mete Tunçay has called an "unanimous democracy" (24). Nevertheless, the book is part of a historiographical current that challenges the discourse the kemalist regime has had on its proper history and insists on political contradictions in the formative processes of the early Republic. In his analysis, the author draws mostly upon the official parliamentary publication, with some references to the press and to memoirs by leading politicians. He meticulously scrutinizes the composition of the six parliaments from 1923 to 1946 and presents valuable empirical data on the deputies, like age, geographical origin, education, profession, or seniority in parliament. I almost wish I hadn 't gone down that rabbit– hole––and yet––and yet––it 's rather curious, you know, this sort of life! I do wonder what can have happened to me". Lewis Carroll 's "Alice in Wonderland" which takes the reader into the fantasy world of rabbit holes and mad hatters, magic cakes and secret doors, very articulately conveys that food can be used as a temptation or as a ploy tool to trap the protagonist to indulge in mischievous activities. Caroll's Alice not only instantaneously grows in size when she eats certain foods but also shrinks when she eats or drinks certain things as well. Food fantasies play a very crucial role in children's literature be it in Alice in Wonderland or C.S. Lewis'1950 allegorical novel , The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Both these fantastical stories focus on interpersonal conflicts and food fantasies of the child protagonist. Lewis's novel reflects Edmund Penvensie's weakness for sweet foods, which are quickly discerned by the White Witch. Both Caroll and Lewis allude the significance of food in relation to adulthood and childhood, using food as a dichotomic symbol for empowerment and domination and as a medium for didactic teachings.. You could not buy cola, you could not buy blue jeans, you could not buy good fashioned cars, etc. You can't even taste the traditional foods of the other countries, like Italian foods or Chinese cuisine. I may give much more interesting example that in the late 1970s, nearly all of the cinemas, including the major ones in the country had closed or in fact, crashed. Maybe you may not believe but, until the closing, in every town in every city, even in the many of the villages, there were cinemas.
