Tintoretto s Last Supper Analysis
Tin! Tin! Dinner s Ready!
I have been greatly impacted by all of the artists, styles, and types of art we have talked about so far in
Art History I. We have looked at sculptors, paintings, architecture, and prints with varying styles, from
a numerous amount of artists. While I am intrigued by mostly all of what we have studied, The Last
Supper paintings catch my eye the most. Many artists have successfully completed paintings of The
Last Supper including, Tintoretto, Paolo Veronese, and Leonardo da Vinci; however, da Vinci was the
first, original painter of The Last Supper. My favorite Last Supper painting definitely has to be the one
by Tintoretto. Tintoretto s Last Supper painting truly represents various key aspects of art; from the
usage of colors and shadows, all the way to the numerous groups of people taking on various different
tasks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This nickname came from his father s profession as a cloth dyer ( Tintoretto ). Tintoretto is known as
Venetian Mannerist painter and is seen as an artist who merged the rich color of Titian with the
powerful line of Michelangelo ( Renaissance Art And Architecture ). I find this truly amazing, being
inspired by two very different artists and combining their styles to form your own. Tintoretto s work
over the years influenced the expansion of baroque art; however; after his death on May 31, 1594,
Venetian painting quickly dwindled away ( Tintoretto ). Tintoretto began The Last Supper in 1952 and
completed it in 1954 (Pallucchini). It is an oil painting on canvas located in the Church of San Giorgio
Maggiore (Pallucchini). This painting is absolutely gorgeous, so I am glad it is displayed near the altar
of a church for everybody in Venice, Italy and tourists that visit there to see. I would love to be able to
take a trip to Italy and experience seeing this work of art for

The Bill Of Rights By George Maddison
Introduction The first 10 Amendments to the Constitution make up the bill of rights it was written by
James Madison. He wrote this to respond to all the calls he had gotten from many states for expansive
protection for individuals rights. The Bill Of Rights states specific prohibitions on power from the
government. What influenced James Madison to write these Amendments was The Virginia
Declaration Of Rights by George Maddison. The Bill Of Rights was inspired by Thomas Jefferson
who was Madison s mentor and it was created on September 25, 1789. The Bill Of Rights was
Ratified on December 15, 1791 in the House Of Representatives. The Fourth Amendment Is the right

It wasn t until 1968 that the need for a lower than probable cause was viewed by the Supreme Court.
In Terry v. Ohio, the court took defense conflicts to the detention of a suspect of robbery and that they
closed the gun he had.. An article in wikipedia said The court noted that a temporary investigative
detention is less of an infringement of a person s liberty than arresting him and taking him into
custody. Also, said the court, police need to have as much justification for this lower level of restraint
as the probable cause that would have been required to make an arrest. The court called this lower
justification standard for detentions reasonable suspicion. . Then In 2010 the 4th Amendment became
the talk of a debate. In an article on the web called racial profiling it states that After Arizona passed
legislation giving local police offices the power to enforce existing immigration laws, the controversy
became the center of all around a particular subject of the new law that had to do with search and
seizure in this case, a search for immigration papers and the seizure of a person not being a U.S citizen
should fail to be provided to law enforcements. You cannot be stopped and searched

Globalisation And Globalization
The world today is more globalised than ever before, with people, technologies and ideas migrating
across borders in increasingly large numbers. These movements are a powerful force for change, and
raise important questions among anthropologists about how culture, community and conflict have
changed in response to globalisation. In this essay, I argue that while the nature of globalisation has
changed over the years, it has consistently been a driver of internal conflict and societal change. Two
case studies are utilised, from India and Peru, to demonstrate how globalisation introduces new ideas
and opportunities that challenge existing power structures, identities, values and cultural norms. This,
in turn, leads to my final argument that in the process of trying to prevent change, many leaders
actually deepens existing social fractures which ultimately results in conflict and inevitable social,
political, economic and cultural transformation.
Throughout human history there has been a continuous tradition of trade and investment across
territories and cultures. European imperialism represents a significant early example of globalisation,
and the process has increased exponentially in the centuries since. Several events contributed to a
period of period of hyper globalisation since the start of the twentieth century, such the collapse of the
Soviet Union and reintegration of Soviet and East Asian nations into the global economy, the
privatisation of nationalised industries

Indentured Servants And African Slaves
As a student of United States history, I have learned new information concerning certain subject
matters. My prior knowledge of US history about these certain topics, such as, indentured servants and
the institution of slavery was minimal. The reason for this is most of my prior knowledge of these
important topics were forgotten. The question I always asked myself what was the difference between
indentured servants and African slaves? Through my personal studying on the subject matter, I have
discovered new information that clarified all my misconceptions about historical topics like,
indentured servants from Europe, African slavery, and finding the similarities and differences of these
two types of labor.
During the 1600s Europe was absorbed in the Thirty Year s War, which depressed the economy at the
time. Many young males skilled and unskilled were looking for work. These young men had hoped
that there might be some prosperity in the New World. These young teenage men were eager for a
grand opportunity in Virginia. However, these new young immigrants coming over to the American
colonies would be considered as indentured servants. In the textbook, American Stories A History of
the United States mentions that, In exchange for transportation across the Atlantic, they agreed to
serve the master for a stated number of years (Brands et al. 37). These young male indentured servants
were in their early twenties. Skilled indentured servants often work for four or

Story Of An Hour Character Analysis
In the short yet complex work The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin, readers see a woman who goes
through a complete spectrum of emotions in the short span of an hour. When the main character learns
that her husband is dead, like most, she is shocked and utterly filled with grief. As the story continues,
a dramatic change takes place within the mind of the main character, Louise. Upon the conclusion of
her natural, wifely grief, she realizes that she is finally out from under the grasp of her husband and is
now a free woman in a time when men dominated life at home and the goings on of society. Through
his death, Louise finds the opportunity to be born again. Many of the emotions that the main character
goes through are depicted through the imagery of her constantly changing environment, and the author
specifically uses the architecture of her home as a main tool. In the story, the use of visual imagery
projects the rise and fall of the main character as her life transitions quickly back and forth. Through
an analysis of her characterization, these changes ultimately prove too much for her to handle. In
Chopin s The Story of an Hour, a character analysis can be performed based on the changes in her
environment compared to the changes in her life situation. The layout of the world around Louise is
used to show her initial grief, sudden realization of freedom, and her gateway to a new life free from
oppression of men. A wife who receives the unexpected news that her

Labour Turnover
PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND
INTRODUCTION
The way trade and commerce is conducted nowadays has evolved. Everything involving the
operations of the organisation demands a more expeditious means of addressing issues and changes in
the external environment. Though this apparently would drive weak companies into the verge of
exiting the market, the good ones find a way for this intense demand for constant improvement to their
advantage. There are some who find a way to make these incessant demands for change trigger the
developmental needs of the company. This is especially true in the case of the hospitality industry. In
this industry, the focus is more on the service rendered to the public; hence there is a distinct
possibility for it to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Role Of Superficial Yeast Infections In Humans
Yeasts which are unicellular fungi that cause a wide range of infections commonly called yeast
infections in humans. Yeast infections are characterized into two groups superficial and systemic.
Superficial yeast infections affect different parts of the human body including the skin, mouth,
digestive tract, nails, etc and can become persistent (Thevissen, 2005).Systemic yeast infections also
called invasive yeast infections affect the brain, spinal cord, eye, gall bladder, heart, lungs, kidneys
and urinary bladder. These infections have considerably increased over the past recent three decades
due to transplantation procedures, cancer chemotherapy, steroid therapy and, in particular, HIV

The Catholic And The Church
A great number of Catholic members continue to leave the Catholic Church, statistics show.
According to an article in the National Catholic Reporter, One out of every 10 Americans is an ex
Catholic... Almost half of those leaving the church become unaffiliated and almost half become
Protestant (Reese). Although the reasons for leaving differ amongst ex Catholics, an important one is
the teachings of the Bible, they claim. It may not make sense that the very same book that is claimed
to be one of the final authorities in the Catholic Church, it s the reason its members are turning away
from it. It is the contradictory nature of some of the Church s teachings which undermine the word of
God the Bible that causes the members to leave the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This brings us to one of the main issues, Reese states: The church needs to acknowledge that
understanding the Bible is more important than memorizing the catechism. Only, it seems that
understanding the Bible is the very thing turning Catholics to Protestantism, as those who study the
Bible using critical thinking, are bound to find incongruences between what the Bible teaches and
what the Catholic Church teaches and practices.
To start off, one of the most basic teachings of the Bible is the second commandment, which states:
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image... Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor
serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God (King James Version, Exod. 20.4). This
commandment is missing from the Catholic Ten Commandments (Catechism), but the Catholic
Church claims it is absorbed into the first commandment: Thou shalt have no other gods before me
(Exod. 20.3). Perhaps the implied commandment is obvious to the leaders of the Catholic Church, but
to an average Church member who has no clear knowledge of the Sacred Scriptures this might not be
the case. The second commandment clearly states any graven image, which is not equal to other gods.
The Catholic Church has acknowledged that the commandment does exist, but it continues to ignore
it, and perpetuate its transgression. For the Catholic Church members and leaders, it is very common
to bow down to statues and images of Mary, saints,

Participant Observation In Sociological Research
The two different methods that can be used in observation is with participant observation and visual
sociology. The participant observation is an observation of people being studied. This method is not
often successful, sociologists are needed to participate in the participant s daily life that is being

friends, professors, coworkers etc.) This method is needed for the sociologists be objective observers

Although the Temperance cause has been in progress for near twenty years, it is apparent to all, that it

The list of its friends is daily swelled by the additions of fifties, of hundreds, and of thousands. The
cause itself seems suddenly transformed from a cold abstract theory, to a living, breathing, active, and
powerful chieftain, going forth conquering and to conquer. The citadels of his great adversary are

Compare And Contrast Gerty In The Lamplighter
True looked at Gerty in perfect wonder and distress. He knew nothing about children, and was
astonished at her simplicity. He could not leave her there, such a cold night; but he hardly knew what
he could do with her if he took her home, for he lived alone, and was poor. But another violent
coughing spell decided him at once to share with her his shelter, fire and food, for one night, at least.
So he took her by the hand, saying Come with me; and Gerty ran along confidently by his side, never
asking whither. Gerty and True s relationship is one unlike any other in the book The Lamplighter.
Gerty went through many torturous foster homes in her life. Her previous foster parents were all
despicable. Eventually, Gerty is brought to home with a woman named Nan Grant. The only good
thing about this home is that every night a man would come around and light the lamps along the
sidewalks. Gerty always looked forward to seeing the lamplighter come by. They first spoke to each
other when Gerty came running back to the house with milk and tripped, resulting in the milk spilling
everywhere. True, the lamplighter, was taken aback by Gerty s appearance but then said, kindly She

does scold you a little. I ll bring you something, tomorrow, that I think you ll like, may be; you re such

Assess the Strengths and Weaknesses of the Psychodynamic approach to understanding personality
The psychodynamic approach was proposed by Freud. This approach towards personality is based on
the notion of underlying forces such as the id, ego and superego which are either present from birth or
develop during childhood shape our behaviour and personality as such. Experiences in childhood are
proposed to be the basis of human personality, according to Freud and as such Psychodynamic theory
proposes that some undesirable unbalances between the id and superego can create the arising of ego
defence mechanisms which explain individual differences in behaviour. Freudian theory has been
adapted by neo Freudians, however while psychodynamic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another strength of the psychodynamic approach to personality is that it has provided a valuable
insight into how early experiences or relationships can affect our adult personality. One of the
examples of this is that fixations can be causes during even the earliest few months of childhood, such
as the oral stage in psychosexual development, this can be caused by separation from the caregiver too
early or having feeding difficulties. These fixations can then lead to psychological problems in
personality centred around eating or drinking. Jacobs et al (1966) used the Rorschach inkblots to
compare the orality of smokers and non smokers, finding that smokers emerged as being significantly
more oral.
On this note, the psychodynamic theory also provided psychological treatments which are still widely
used today in therapy for personality disorders. These two treatments in psychodynamic theory are the
Rorschach inkblot test and assessment/analysis of dreams. In the Rorschach test the subjects
perceptions of inkblots are recorded and then analysed using psychological interpretation, complex
scientifically derived algorithms or both. These can be used to assess an individual s personality
characteristics. However this Rorschach test itself has been strongly criticised. Firstly

preferences are also a threat to some upper class airlines. Consumers are demanding fewer frills, less

due to the fact that so many companies are failing to turn profits and are filing for bankruptcy. Those
organizations that have survived the recent down turn in the industry are gaining the ability to acquire

Expectationships And Personal Relationships
People are relational and communicative human beings who, often, fail at being relational and
communicative with other human beings, such as their life partners. Humans enter relationships for
multitudes of reasons, but most are searching for someone to love and build a life with. However,
people have different concepts of what a life together constitutes. When people begin to build a
relationship with a partner they bring a variety of expectations into the partnership. These expectations
may apply to one, the other, or both members of the relationship and they may, or may not, be in
accordance to the expectations that the other person has brought into the relationship. Expectations
can complicate or simplify relationships; similarly, expectations can make or break relationships. My
husband and I have been together for over seven years, but married a little over one year. My husband
and I s changing relational dynamic has been evaluated through both of us taking the Household
Survey. The discussion that followed showed that we disagree about the division of household chores
and aspects of our future family, but we have similar perspectives about our finances. As shown in the
survey, Cade and I disagree about the division of various household chores, such as dishes, grocery
shopping, laundry, and cleaning the house. Before we got married both Cade and I knew that we were
not the most organized or chore focused people. When we are together we would rather enjoy the

African American Culture Essay
African American culture contains aspects of both African and European culture at its roots. While
there are claims that all traces of African heritage were beaten and stolen through processes of
acculturation, I believe that the foundation, as well as a significant portion of practices and behaviors
can be found in African culture. Many slaves held on tightly to their African heritage, while a slave
culture sought invisibility through assimilating into European American culture. These major

African culture came into contact with European culture largely and most prominently during this
slave trade. As this pro slavery narrative of black inferiority among white superiority progressed,
African Americans learned to observe their white masters. Upon viewing the punishment endured by
fellow slaves, they began to conceal their African heritage around white people. In order to survive, it
was necessary to muffle and conceal their emotion, and in other words mute their culture. It is at this
point that black masking and black acting begin to become a part of African American culture that is
still present today. To understand exactly how this incursion on freedom was so widely accepted, we
may look to observations from Jefferson in his State of Virginia . All men are created equal in the
context of the slave trade era in North America sounds fatally contradictory, therefore in order to push
the pro black slave agenda, Jefferson penned an argument against the humanity of blackness that set in
motion a narrative that would continue to form over the next four centuries. Essentially all men are
created equal was upheld, but if it could be proven that black people have no humanity, then they are
not equal, therefore black slavery is justified. Jefferson argued the difference was biological rather
than cultural as in the case of Native Americans, leading to a shift in factors of status from religion
and wealth to physical appearance. I think that this

Informative Essay On Disneyland

Disneyland
Disneyland is the happiest place on Earth. It is one of the two theme parks built on the Disneyland
Resort in Anaheim, California and it s not only in California, it s also in Tokyo, France and Hong
Kong. It opened on July 17, 1955 by the one and only Walter Elias Walt Disney. Disney was born in
Hermosa, Illinois on December 5, 1901 and died on December 15, 1966 at the age of 65. He died of
lung cancer that was brought from his lifelong chain smoking. This amusement park came onto Walt s
head after seeing his own two daughters in an amusement park that was dirty with trash everywhere.
After thinking about the filthiness in the amusement park, he imagined a clean and safe amusement
park which is now known as Disneyland. Disney isn t just only known for being the founder of
Disneyland and Walt Disney World, but also for being an innovated animator who created the famous
cartoon character known as Mickey Mouse.
Disneyland takes up 6,964,250 sq feet or 647,000 m². This amusement park was $17 million but that

There are many mysteries on Disneyland. From the hidden Mickey s to Captain the Mark Twain.
Okay, let s start off with the most known, the hidden Mickey s. The hidden Mickey s are symbols that
are located all over the park. It all started as inside jokes among the Walt Disney imagineers but as
soon as the finishing touches were being added to the attraction, the imagineers decided to add the
Mickey symbols all over the amusement park. Obviously the word spread and soon it became a
tradition and ever since that happened, Disneyland has been getting people to look for the hidden
Mickey s. The symbols are located on almost all of the rides and all of the avenues. This is a fun
activity to do with your family if you end up going to the amusement

Types Of Decentralization
2.3. Types of Decentralization Decentralization belongs to many types, depending on the
characteristics, policy implications and condition for success. Political, administrative, fiscal and
market decentralization are the fundamental types of decentralization. There are different terms and
words for defining the types of decentralization and there may also have various ways to operate them.
However, the comprehensive approach is more vital than defining. It can be observed that every
country has its own type of functioning decentralization and each local department may have unique
combinations. 2.3.1. Political Decentralization Political decentralization involves the transfer of
decision making power and accountability to local levels. It often involves some form of devolution
the transfer of responsibilities to Local governments that have been granted significant autonomy. In
democratic Decentralization these local governments are accountable to local populations through
Elections and/or other means. In the context of international practice, the political decentralization
aims to give citizens or their elected representatives more power. It may be associated with pluralistic
politics and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It may also take the relatively modest form of de concentration in which officials at lower levels are
given more authority or discretion, but remain accountable totheir chiefs at the center.
Decentralization could also be combined with the devolution ofexecutive authority to local
governments. Delegation is the shifting of functions to semi orwholly independent organizations
outside the core government sector (for example toindependent authorities, or in privatization, to
private firms). The major forms of administrative decentralization are de concentration, devolution

Information Security And Security Policies
Information security policies are a key aspect of any information security department. These polices
are used to provide management and employees with instructions of the companies security directives,
eatables short and log term goals, assign responsibility, and define specific standards and processes for
ensuring information and system security. A properly written security policy can be instrumental in
ensuring security and can be used to create security centered employee behavior that is designed to
help ensure information security.
Security policies are intended to define what is expected from employees within an organization with
respect to information systems. The objective is to guide or control the use of systems to reduce the
risk to information assets. It also gives the staff who are dealing with information systems an
acceptable use policy, explaining what is allowed and what not. Security policies of all companies are
not same, but the key motive behind them is to protect assets. Security policies are tailored to the
specific mission goals (InfoSec Resources, 2016) All policies created by a company must be sure to be
consistent with any laws and regulations that the organization is required to follow. If a policy
conflicts with any of the laws or regulations, it can open the company up to expensive lawsuit.
However, if you make sure all of your policies follow the laws and regulations, they can be

Wireless Networking And Its Impact On The World
In 2016, the majority of networking is done wirelessly. Advancements in technology over the past ten
to fifteen years has allowed us to network wirelessly anywhere in the world. There are remote areas in
the world that do not allow wireless networking due to resources being unavailable, at least for now.
The world of networking is continuously growing. I would predict that with initiatives such as
Facebook s WiFi Drone, WiFi will be available everywhere in the world no matter your location. The
term WiFi is a trademark of the WiFi alliance, a trade association who promotes LAN technologies
and certifies products. The term WiFi was adopted in 1999 as a branding term. It is an acronym for
wireless fidelity. Any device that has a stamp of WiFi certification must meet the IEEE 802.11
standards meaning that the devices capabilities are compatible with other certified devices. In 1985,
the FCC released what is known as the ISM Band for unlicensed use. ISM or Industrial Scientific and
Medical Band, is a radio band reserved for all sorts of devices around the world that serve a purpose in
the title s description. The ISM reserved frequencies that are commonly used today such as 902 928
MHz or 2.4 2.5 GHz for wireless use. Other devices that operate on this frequency such as
microwaves, can interfere with the traffic going across the same frequency. 902 928 MHz is only
unlicensed by what the ITU or International Telecommunications Union refers to as Region Two .

Essay Biography of Aaron Copland
Aaron Copland was born November 14th 1900 in Brooklyn, New York. He is the youngest of five
children to Sarah Mittenthal, his mother and Harris Copland, his father. He had two brothers, Ralph
and Leon and two sisters Laurine and Josephine. As early as the age of nine, he began making up
songs on the piano and two years later, his older sister Laurine began giving him piano lessons. In
1914, Copland began studying with his first professional piano teacher, Ludwig Wolfsohn in
Brooklyn, New York. His first public performance as a pianist was in 1917, one year before his
graduation from high school in Brooklyn. Upon it s grand opening in 1921, Copland attended the

Aaron Copland died on December 2nd 1990 in North Tarrytown, New York at the age of ninety.
Without question his most famous work is his Pulitzer Prize winning Appalachian Spring with which
he received the prestigious award in 1945. Commissioned by American dancer and choreographer
Martha Graham in 1943, Copland finished the work a year later while teaching at Harvard. The song
had a traditional American sound much like his previous works, Quiet City and Billy the Kid and won
immediate success with audiences when it debuted in Washington, D.C. on October 30, 1944. The
material of the piece is largely folk and even incorporates an old shaker song called Simple Gifts by
Elder Joseph Brackett written in 1848. One song, a patriotic piece called A Lincoln Portrait was
written at the beginning of World War II after Copland was commissioned to write a musical portrait
of an eminent American political figure. He quoted original folk songs of the time such as the well
known Camptown Races and also included material from letters and speeches Lincoln had given.
When looking at the characteristics of his work, Copland could most likely be described as an
experimentalist. He often enjoyed mixing various stylistic ideas of Jazz and Mexican dance rhythms
into his music and did not shy away from including these styles into his film scores and

A Young Girl s Growth to Maturity in Persepolis by Marjane...
The graphic novel Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi is a political and personal account of a young girl s
growth to maturity. The novel serves as an autobiography of the author s childhood in Tehren, Iran. It
describes what it was like to grow up during the 1979 Islamic Revolution, the end of the Shah s
regime, and the war with Iraq. One of the most prominent themes in the novel is the clash between
modernity and fundamentalism. The reader can observe this conflict through Iran s internal
oppositions, the Satrapi s modernity, and Marji s western soci political beliefs. This aspect of the novel
is important because it shows the ideological diversity within Iran and the consequences faced by
those in the opposition.
Iran s conflict between modernism and fundamentalism can be seen in the novel s focus on the
political prisoners. Marji encounters various men that were incarcerated for holding extreme leftist
views, including her uncle, and the consequences they faced. In the chapter The Heroes Marji is
exposed to the various torture methods induced to make the prisoners betray others who shared their
discontent. This can be seen when Marji s father asks about Ahmadi and Siamk, the newly freed
prisoner, tells them, ... Ahmadi was assassinated. As a member of the guerrillas, he suffered hell (54).
In making this comment, Ahmadi shows the intensity with which fierce opponents were persecuted.
Additionally, the never ending arrests and deaths of these political opponents show the

Essay on Women in Iliad, Odyssey, and the Bible
Role of Women in Iliad, Odyssey, and the Bible
Much is known of men in ancient civilizations, from the famous philosophers and mathematicians of
Greece to the patriarchs and subsequent kings of the nation of Israel. It would seem, however, that
history has forgotten the women of these times. What of the famous female thinkers of Ancient
Greece, the distinguished stateswomen of Rome? What power did they hold? What was their position
in societies of the distant past? A glimpse into the roles and influence of women in antiquity can be
discovered in such ancient masterpieces as the Iliad, the Odyssey, and the Hebrew Bible.
In the Iliad, women are barely mentioned, and then only as spoils of war or treacherous creatures not
worthy of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The myth of how the war between the Greeks and the Trojans began, itself, shows women, in this case
goddesses, in an unflattering light, fighting like vain beauty queens over which one is more beautiful.
In fact, the very character of these three goddesses is at the least reprehensible and mirrors the
conception of many ancient, male driven societies of women being fickle, disloyal temptresses. Hera
is the paranoid, jealous wife who viciously strikes out at her husband s lovers, Aphrodite is a kind of
divine harlot, and Athena, although the most admirable of the group, nevertheless gives in to petty
emotions and is an odd choice to be guardian of wisdom, since no women were allowed in the
academies or thought of by men as being particularly wise. Thetis intentions are the exception to the
trivial designs of her immortal counterparts, for she is always the devoted mother of Achilles, trying to
do what is best for her son. Athena may give aid to the Greek cause, but only because she was not
picked by Paris as the most fair. The only mortal woman in the Iliad who seems to have any
redeeming qualities, and to whom we are not introduced for any real amount of time, in contrast to
Hecuba, is Andromache, who makes a brief, yet lasting appearance as Hector s wife. For the most
part, however, women in the Iliad are placed decidedly in the background, at best shown as
accessories to their male spouses.

Al Farabi Contribution
Al Farabi s philosophical contribution
Abu Nasr Muhammad al Farabi, one the earliest Islamic intellectuals who were instrumental in
transmitting the doctrines of Plato and Aristotle to the Muslim world, had a considerable influence on
the later Islamic philosophers such as Avicenna. He is widely regarded as the founder of philosophy
within the Islamic world. Al Farabi had great influence on science and philosophy for several
centuries, and was widely considered second only to Aristotle in knowledge (alluded to by his title of
the Second Teacher ) in his time. Al Farabi was known to the Arabs as the Second Master . He was
also a scientist, cosmologist, mathematician and music scholar.

It is difficult to find a philosopher both in Muslim and Christian world from Middle Ages onwards
who has not been influenced by his views. Ammar al Talbi (2000) suggests that Al Farabi represents a
turning point in the history of Islamic philosophical thought, since he was the true first founder of
epistemology which relies upon universal reason and the demonstrations he gave . Education is one of
the most important social phenomena in al Farabi s philosophical system. Al Farabi s concern was to
reestablish unity to Islamic thought. He believed the first aim of knowledge was knowledge of God
and his attributes (F. Copleston, 1980). Philosophy and religion were for him simply two expressions
of a single truth, philosophy explains religion and provides proof of it; it is neither in conflict nor in
contradiction with it. According to al Farabi the perfect human being, is the one who has obtained
theoretical virtue, thus completing his intellectual knowledge and has acquired practical moral virtues
thus becoming perfect in his moral

Hypocritical Death Penalty
From 1976 to March of 2015 1,392 people have been killed by the death penalty. The number of
inmates on death row has reached over 3,000 ( Death Penalty Statistics ). These numbers show a
hypocritical side of America. This is the part of American that focuses on an eye for an eye rather than
on our constitution and its standpoint on cruel and unusual punishment. This idea that criminals need
to get what they deserve through the death penalty is what can cloud people s judgment and waste the
taxpayer s money. The death penalty is a misguided form of punishment that should not be used in
United States justice system. The United States is being hypocritical when they use the death penalty
as a form of justice. In 2015, 65% of the people in the United States believed in the death penalty (
Death Penalty Statistics ). Most people in this category would believe that a murderer should be put to
death, but isn t this hypocritical? We live in a society that believes that someone who commits a

The Invention Of China s Inventions
On a daily basis, people come across hundreds of inventions that are made around the world. Each one
of these inventions have profoundly affected the way people live their lives. China is one of the
leading providers to the United States. They have also made various inventions that people benefit
from today.
One of China s earliest inventions was paper. This invention was developed in 105AD and has become
a product people still use today. The ingredients that were used to make paper was a variety of fibrous
materials, birch leaves, and wood pulp. The process of making paper would take up to thirty days to
construct. The production of paper was a rigorous process that China held secret for hundreds of years.
Despite the fact that there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By this time paper mills had been invented in other countries which caused the paper to go from a
complex recipe that was one held secret by the Chinese to a ubiquitous production with the use of
machinery.
People have come far in the innovation of paper. One component that has been altered are the
ingredients that go into the paper. Although some ingredients remain the same, paper factories use
more chemicals to manufacture paper rather than the traditional ingredients. With this technology and
different ingredients, making paper has now become much easier and faster when compared to ancient
times. It is now one of the most used item in our daily lives.
Another Chinese invention that has had a profound affect in people s lives is gunpowder. It was first
invented in 142 AD by Wei Boyang (quart) and has become a greatly used product around the world.
Like many of China s inventions, it was kept a secret. It was not until 1100s AD that this secret was
discovered. The first to hear about the discovery of the gunpowder was the Islamic empire. It was then
discovered by the Roman empire and soon made its way to Europe.
China first discovered gunpowder could be used as a weapon when they put gunpowder on one end of
a bamboo tube and a metal item on the other end. This caused the gunpowder to explode and shoot the
metal item from the other end. This was the start of the weapons we use today.
The first ingredients that gunpowder was made with was a mixture of sulfur,

them gain more control over the economy over the nation and drive out businesses that cannot afford

the assembly line, it cost less than $300 (6 9). Henry Ford had always envisioned a car that could be
bought by the average family (9 12). He wanted to become rich and knew that aiming to have every
American as a potential consumer was the best way to do so (11). When his prices fell by that much, it
opened the market to many more people, so the demand for a lower price car went up, and Ford was

The Criticism Of Totalitarianism
Totalitarianism is a political system in which the state recognizes no limits to its authority and strives
to regulate every aspect of public and private life wherever it can be done. A distinctive feature of
totalitarian governments is an elaborate ideology, a set of ideas that gives meaning and direction to the
society .
The concept was first developed in the 1920s by the Weimar German jurist, and later Nazi academic,
Carl Schmitt, and Italian fascists. Schmitt used the term, Totalstaat, in his influential work on the legal
basis of an all powerful state, The Concept of the Political (1927). The concept became prominent in
Western political discourse as a concept that highlights similarities between Fascist states and the
Soviet Union. The notion of totalitarianism as a total political power by the state was formulated in
1923 by Giovanni Amendola, who described Italian Fascism as a system fundamentally different from
conventional dictatorships. The term was later assigned a positive meaning in the writings of Giovanni
Gentile, Italy s most prominent philosopher and leading theorist of fascism. He used the term
totalitario to refer to the structure and goals of the new state, which were to give the total
representation of the nation and total guidance of national goals. He described totalitarianism as a
society in which the ideology of the state had influence, if not power, over most of its citizens.
According to Benito Mussolini, this system politicized everything

  • 2. Tintoretto s Last Supper Analysis Tin! Tin! Dinner s Ready! I have been greatly impacted by all of the artists, styles, and types of art we have talked about so far in Art History I. We have looked at sculptors, paintings, architecture, and prints with varying styles, from a numerous amount of artists. While I am intrigued by mostly all of what we have studied, The Last Supper paintings catch my eye the most. Many artists have successfully completed paintings of The Last Supper including, Tintoretto, Paolo Veronese, and Leonardo da Vinci; however, da Vinci was the first, original painter of The Last Supper. My favorite Last Supper painting definitely has to be the one by Tintoretto. Tintoretto s Last Supper painting truly represents various key aspects of art; from the usage of colors and shadows, all the way to the numerous groups of people taking on various different tasks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This nickname came from his father s profession as a cloth dyer ( Tintoretto ). Tintoretto is known as Venetian Mannerist painter and is seen as an artist who merged the rich color of Titian with the powerful line of Michelangelo ( Renaissance Art And Architecture ). I find this truly amazing, being inspired by two very different artists and combining their styles to form your own. Tintoretto s work over the years influenced the expansion of baroque art; however; after his death on May 31, 1594, Venetian painting quickly dwindled away ( Tintoretto ). Tintoretto began The Last Supper in 1952 and completed it in 1954 (Pallucchini). It is an oil painting on canvas located in the Church of San Giorgio Maggiore (Pallucchini). This painting is absolutely gorgeous, so I am glad it is displayed near the altar of a church for everybody in Venice, Italy and tourists that visit there to see. I would love to be able to take a trip to Italy and experience seeing this work of art for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He wrote this to respond to all the calls he had gotten from many states for expansive protection for individuals rights. The Bill Of Rights states specific prohibitions on power from the government. What influenced James Madison to write these Amendments was The Virginia Declaration Of Rights by George Maddison. The Bill Of Rights was inspired by Thomas Jefferson who was Madison s mentor and it was created on September 25, 1789. The Bill Of Rights was Ratified on December 15, 1791 in the House Of Representatives. The Fourth Amendment Is the right of people to be secure in their persons, ... Ohio, the court took defense conflicts to the detention of a suspect of robbery and that they closed the gun he had.. An article in wikipedia said The court noted that a temporary investigative detention is less of an infringement of a person s liberty than arresting him and taking him into custody. Also, said the court, police need to have as much justification for this lower level of restraint as the probable cause that would have been required to make an arrest. The court called this lower justification standard for detentions reasonable suspicion. . Then In 2010 the 4th Amendment became the talk of a debate. In an article on the web called racial profiling it states that After Arizona passed legislation giving local police offices the power to enforce existing immigration laws, the controversy became the center of all around a particular subject of the new law that had to do with search and seizure in this case, a search for immigration papers and the seizure of a person not being a U.S citizen should fail to be provided to law enforcements. • 4. Globalisation And Globalization The world today is more globalised than ever before, with people, technologies and ideas migrating across borders in increasingly large numbers. These movements are a powerful force for change, and raise important questions among anthropologists about how culture, community and conflict have changed in response to globalisation. In this essay, I argue that while the nature of globalisation has changed over the years, it has consistently been a driver of internal conflict and societal change. Two case studies are utilised, from India and Peru, to demonstrate how globalisation introduces new ideas and opportunities that challenge existing power structures, identities, values and cultural norms. This, in turn, leads to my final argument that in the process of trying to prevent change, many leaders actually deepens existing social fractures which ultimately results in conflict and inevitable social, political, economic and cultural transformation. Throughout human history there has been a continuous tradition of trade and investment across territories and cultures. European imperialism represents a significant early example of globalisation, and the process has increased exponentially in the centuries since. Several events contributed to a period of period of hyper globalisation since the start of the twentieth century, such the collapse of the Soviet Union and reintegration of Soviet and East Asian nations into the global economy, the privatisation of nationalised industries ... • 5. Indentured Servants And African Slaves As a student of United States history, I have learned new information concerning certain subject matters. My prior knowledge of US history about these certain topics, such as, indentured servants and the institution of slavery was minimal. The reason for this is most of my prior knowledge of these important topics were forgotten. The question I always asked myself what was the difference between indentured servants and African slaves? Through my personal studying on the subject matter, I have discovered new information that clarified all my misconceptions about historical topics like, indentured servants from Europe, African slavery, and finding the similarities and differences of these two types of labor. During the 1600s Europe was absorbed in the Thirty Year s War, which depressed the economy at the time. Many young males skilled and unskilled were looking for work. These young men had hoped that there might be some prosperity in the New World. These young teenage men were eager for a grand opportunity in Virginia. However, these new young immigrants coming over to the American colonies would be considered as indentured servants. In the textbook, American Stories A History of the United States mentions that, In exchange for transportation across the Atlantic, they agreed to serve the master for a stated number of years (Brands et al. 37). These young male indentured servants were in their early twenties. Skilled indentured servants often work for four or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Story Of An Hour Character Analysis In the short yet complex work The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin, readers see a woman who goes through a complete spectrum of emotions in the short span of an hour. When the main character learns that her husband is dead, like most, she is shocked and utterly filled with grief. As the story continues, a dramatic change takes place within the mind of the main character, Louise. Upon the conclusion of her natural, wifely grief, she realizes that she is finally out from under the grasp of her husband and is now a free woman in a time when men dominated life at home and the goings on of society. Through his death, Louise finds the opportunity to be born again. Many of the emotions that the main character goes through are depicted through the imagery of her constantly changing environment, and the author specifically uses the architecture of her home as a main tool. In the story, the use of visual imagery projects the rise and fall of the main character as her life transitions quickly back and forth. Through an analysis of her characterization, these changes ultimately prove too much for her to handle. In Chopin s The Story of an Hour, a character analysis can be performed based on the changes in her environment compared to the changes in her life situation. The layout of the world around Louise is used to show her initial grief, sudden realization of freedom, and her gateway to a new life free from oppression of men. • 10. The Catholic And The Church A great number of Catholic members continue to leave the Catholic Church, statistics show. According to an article in the National Catholic Reporter, One out of every 10 Americans is an ex Catholic... Almost half of those leaving the church become unaffiliated and almost half become Protestant (Reese). Although the reasons for leaving differ amongst ex Catholics, an important one is the teachings of the Bible, they claim. It may not make sense that the very same book that is claimed to be one of the final authorities in the Catholic Church, it s the reason its members are turning away from it. It is the contradictory nature of some of the Church s teachings which undermine the word of God the Bible that causes the members to leave the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This brings us to one of the main issues, Reese states: The church needs to acknowledge that understanding the Bible is more important than memorizing the catechism. Only, it seems that understanding the Bible is the very thing turning Catholics to Protestantism, as those who study the Bible using critical thinking, are bound to find incongruences between what the Bible teaches and what the Catholic Church teaches and practices. To start off, one of the most basic teachings of the Bible is the second commandment, which states: Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image... Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God (King James Version, Exod. 20.4). This commandment is missing from the Catholic Ten Commandments (Catechism), but the Catholic Church claims it is absorbed into the first commandment: Thou shalt have no other gods before me (Exod. 20.3). Perhaps the implied commandment is obvious to the leaders of the Catholic Church, but to an average Church member who has no clear knowledge of the Sacred Scriptures this might not be the case. The second commandment clearly states any graven image, which is not equal to other gods. The Catholic Church has acknowledged that the commandment does exist, but it continues to ignore it, and perpetuate its transgression. For the Catholic Church members and leaders, it is very common to bow down to statues and images of Mary, saints, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The list of its friends is daily swelled by the additions of fifties, of hundreds, and of thousands. The cause itself seems suddenly transformed from a cold abstract theory, to a living, breathing, active, and powerful chieftain, going forth conquering and to conquer. The citadels of his great adversary are daily being stormed and dismantled; his temple and his altars, where the rites of his idolatrous worship have long been performed, and where human sacrifices have long been wont to be made, are daily desecrated and deserted. Solution: 1.1 Difference (1) GET is typically used to retrieve data from server that doesn t change anything on the server. POST is used to send data to server that somehow causes a change in the state of server, such as inserting data in a database. (2) On client side, GET uses URL to submit data and the data will be seen in URL. To submit data, POST puts data in HTML HEADER. (4) GET usually transfers small amount of data, while POST can transfer relatively larger amount of data. 1.2 Why one is slightly more secure than other POST is slightly more secure than GET, because using GET, parameters will be seen in the URL, while using POST, parameters are hidden from view. 2. He could not leave her there, such a cold night; but he hardly knew what he could do with her if he took her home, for he lived alone, and was poor. But another violent coughing spell decided him at once to share with her his shelter, fire and food, for one night, at least. So he took her by the hand, saying Come with me; and Gerty ran along confidently by his side, never asking whither. Gerty and True s relationship is one unlike any other in the book The Lamplighter. Gerty went through many torturous foster homes in her life. Her previous foster parents were all despicable. Eventually, Gerty is brought to home with a woman named Nan Grant. The only good thing about this home is that every night a man would come around and light the lamps along the sidewalks. Gerty always looked forward to seeing the lamplighter come by. They first spoke to each other when Gerty came running back to the house with milk and tripped, resulting in the milk spilling everywhere. True, the lamplighter, was taken aback by Gerty s appearance but then said, kindly She won t be hard on such a mite of a thing as you are, will she? Cheer up, my ducky! This approach towards personality is based on the notion of underlying forces such as the id, ego and superego which are either present from birth or develop during childhood shape our behaviour and personality as such. Experiences in childhood are proposed to be the basis of human personality, according to Freud and as such Psychodynamic theory proposes that some undesirable unbalances between the id and superego can create the arising of ego defence mechanisms which explain individual differences in behaviour. Another strength of the psychodynamic approach to personality is that it has provided a valuable insight into how early experiences or relationships can affect our adult personality. One of the examples of this is that fixations can be causes during even the earliest few months of childhood, such as the oral stage in psychosexual development, this can be caused by separation from the caregiver too early or having feeding difficulties. These fixations can then lead to psychological problems in personality centred around eating or drinking. Jacobs et al (1966) used the Rorschach inkblots to compare the orality of smokers and non smokers, finding that smokers emerged as being significantly more oral. On this note, the psychodynamic theory also provided psychological treatments which are still widely used today in therapy for personality disorders. These two treatments in psychodynamic theory are the Rorschach inkblot test and assessment/analysis of dreams. In the Rorschach test the subjects perceptions of inkblots are recorded and then analysed using psychological interpretation, complex scientifically derived algorithms or both. Expectationships And Personal Relationships People are relational and communicative human beings who, often, fail at being relational and communicative with other human beings, such as their life partners. Humans enter relationships for multitudes of reasons, but most are searching for someone to love and build a life with. However, people have different concepts of what a life together constitutes. When people begin to build a relationship with a partner they bring a variety of expectations into the partnership. These expectations may apply to one, the other, or both members of the relationship and they may, or may not, be in accordance to the expectations that the other person has brought into the relationship. Expectations can complicate or simplify relationships; similarly, expectations can make or break relationships. As this pro slavery narrative of black inferiority among white superiority progressed, African Americans learned to observe their white masters. Upon viewing the punishment endured by fellow slaves, they began to conceal their African heritage around white people. In order to survive, it was necessary to muffle and conceal their emotion, and in other words mute their culture. It is at this point that black masking and black acting begin to become a part of African American culture that is still present today. To understand exactly how this incursion on freedom was so widely accepted, we may look to observations from Jefferson in his State of Virginia . All men are created equal in the context of the slave trade era in North America sounds fatally contradictory, therefore in order to push the pro black slave agenda, Jefferson penned an argument against the humanity of blackness that set in motion a narrative that would continue to form over the next four centuries. Essentially all men are created equal was upheld, but if it could be proven that black people have no humanity, then they are not equal, therefore black slavery is justified. Jefferson argued the difference was biological rather than cultural as in the case of Native Americans, leading to a shift in factors of status from religion and wealth to physical appearance. Hera is the paranoid, jealous wife who viciously strikes out at her husband s lovers, Aphrodite is a kind of divine harlot, and Athena, although the most admirable of the group, nevertheless gives in to petty emotions and is an odd choice to be guardian of wisdom, since no women were allowed in the academies or thought of by men as being particularly wise.
