Keiser University Case Study
Keiser University is a private university with 14 campuses located through the state of Florida. The
university currently has a population of over twelve thousand students and with the fall classes
approaching fast the expected number of students to enroll will add frustration for the school s
financial aid team. The university has been around since 1980 and started out as a small technical
school with a first class of 4 students.
In past years the financial aid process had been known to be extremely slow and lacks technology at
most career focused schools. (Venegas, 2006). Currently to complete student s financial aid process it
can take up to 1 week to finalize all information. The potential student may need to make several visits
to the campus and could cause frustration for the student and parent. Along with this frustration this
could cause the future student and parent to make a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are risks and financial impacts to be taken into consideration. The university s financial risks
refer to their ability to manage their debt and financial leverage. Financial risk is concerned with the
school s ability to generate sufficient cash flow to be able to make interest payments on financing or
meet other debt related obligations. In the schools case a bad technology decision can derail or destroy
an otherwise important project. One risk may be that management assumes that a system that works
miracles for another organization may not be appropriate for our organization. A second risk may be
that the app does not deliver what management promise, or a feature is implemented in a way that
does not solve the problem we need to solve. Third there may be a risk that the staff and faculty do not
understand the importance of change here and they become reluctant to stay in their positions that will

Machiavelli And Fear
Niccolò Machiavelli was an Italian politician and writer during the sixteenth century. He is most
famous for his book The Prince which talks about how to gain political power. His book addresses the
concept of the new prince rather than the hereditary prince who must stabilize his power as well a
building political structure. In The Prince, Machiavelli talks about whether it is better to be feared or
loved. Machiavelli states that a leader should be both feared and loved, but that if you had to pick one,
pick fear. I do believe that being feared has advantages when ruling a country and makes a leader
more successful in the long run.
It is better to be feared than loved because love is usually a chosen emotion. We tend to choose who
we love but something will usually provoke us to fear someone. Love is at our own choice, and fear is
at the Prince s choice. When a leader is loved, he has to make everyone happy to try and keep that
love going, which usually cannot happen no matter how hard one tries. When he is feared, he will not
have to worry about what other people think. Machiavelli states that, Men ... Show more content on

If you are feared, no one will hurt you because they are scared of what will happen to them. People
will be afraid of the consequences such as being punished or even being killed. Machiavelli also says
that, Love is held by a chain of duty which since men are bad, they break at every chance of their own
profit (Cunningham and Reich 35). If breaking the chain gives someone an advantage, they will break
it no matter what do what is better for them. Even if they love the person, the men Machiavelli is
talking about will put themselves first, not thinking about the people that they love. This can still be
seen in today s society as well. Love can be an unstable emotion, changing from time to time, while
fear is pretty solid and does not

Chem 112 Technical Abstract
Determination of Cations and Anions through Elimination and Confirmation Tests By: Symantha
Resendiz Introduction A topic of great importance to all scientists is the identification of compounds,
which is relevant in all aspects of their work in some way shape or form. Weather it may be
determining what is causing sickness or what is polluting the air, it is very prevalent in the science
world. In project 2, identification of cations and anions was preformed through a series of
confirmation and elimination tests that ultimately led to identifying an unknown ionic compound
made of cations and anions. Materials and Methods Part 1 Cation Tests To begin, 5 centrifuge tubes
were added 10 drops of one cation and labeled ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The mixture was then transferred to a clean centrifuge tube via pipet, carefully not wetting the upper
walls of the tube. Zinc granules were then added and the tube was immediately plugged with cotton
1/3 of the way into the tube. The tube was then warmed in a hot water bath for about 5 minutes, the
folded red litmus paper was inserted at the top of the tube with a wet crease. After a few minutes,
nitrate is indicated on the wet crease of the litmus paper, turning it blue. For the Carbonate test, 25 mg
of carbonate sample was added to a centrifuge tube and 3 drops of 6 M H2SO4 was added. A
disposable pipet was used to transfer a drop of Ba(OH)2, that hung directly from the pipet over the
carbonate solution, and the observations of the drop were recorded. Part 3 Cation and Anion Analysis
For the cation analysis, 0.566 g of an unknown compound was dissolved completely in 5mL of
distilled water in a centrifuge tube, thus confirming this solution as a stock solution. A flame test was
performed on the stock solution to give a general idea of what test was to e preformed on the stock
solution deriving the information from our logic trees in part 1. The logic tree from part 1 and the
flame test confirmed that we needed to conduct an ammonia test on the stock solution. To being the
ammonia test, 15 M NH4OH was added drop wise (about 20 drops) to the stock and the color of the
solution and the color of the solution was recorded. 10 more drops of 15 M NH4OH

Sexual Selection Is A Powerful Evolutionary Process
Mate selection
Sexual Selection is a powerful evolutionary process, for those unable to attract or gain access to the
opposite sex, risk being eliminated from the population (Apostolou). The theory of sexual selection
was introduced by Charles Darwin in his book The Descent of Man, in which he explains, that
selecting a mate is not a random process, and it is key to evolution, for it depends on which
individuals have advantage over the rest of the same specie (Stanford 99). In sexual selection, males
compete between one another to gain access to a mate, and females choose particular promising mates
that demonstrate trait variability, so that their future offspring will have a higher chance of survival
(Stanford 99). Male individuals have to demonstrate power, who can conquer the most, ability to
survive and provide protection, among other characteristics that will make him the right mate for a
female. And Females, must consider their options, since they want high quality genes for their future
children (Angeloni 77). Therefore, as a female, I am seeking for specific characteristics in a mate,
such as a lean body build, healthy white teeth, and height he must be over 5 6. I seek for those traits in
a mate to further add trait variability in my future offspring, which will help adapt, live longer, and
reproduce in the future.
Females are the choosing sex, for they are usually the ones who invest more in their offspring from the
birth to the nurturing (Stanford 100). Second,

One of the distinguishing features of cystic fibrosis is the thick mucus that lines both the airways and
the intestinal tract of affected individuals. In the respiratory tract, this thick mucus is not removed by
the cilia that usually beat and push mucus up into the throat. This thick mucus builds up in the
airways, and bacteria trapped in the mucus are not removed. Thus bacterial respiratory infections are
extremely common.

4. Explain the reasoning behind the appearance of his sputum.
Sam s sputum was viscid because the excessive Chloride ions inside the cells attract water, so water
does not leave the cells. This water is what makes the mucus thin and slippery. Without the water the
mucus is thick and sticky.
Sam s sputum was probably green due to all of the bacteria that has built up in his respiratory tract
because the mucus escalator cannot move the mucus up and out..

if Sam was given a pulmonary function test it will demonstrate a decreased FEV1 (forced expiratory

test results, answer the following questions:
1. What can you infer about the surface area and/or diffusion distance for gas exchange in Sam s
lungs?

Sputnik Sweetheart Figurative Language
Through complementary uses of figurative language, symbolism, and plot setting, Haruki Murakami s
iconic novels Sputnik Sweetheart and After Dark allude to a sense of crippling nostalgia, and budding
adolescence. For example, both reality altering stories contain valuable information about normal
people that experience abnormal situations. Haruki supported this statement himself with this quote,
This sort of story just comes naturally to me. Rather than stories of abnormal things happening to
abnormal people or normal things happening to normal people , I like stories of abnormal things
happening to normal people. (harukimurakami.com) In Sputnik Sweetheart, the oblivious standard

Whether time is a real concept or if humans made the whole idea up so we can feel as though we have
a solid grip on reality. Haruki Murakami is a individual who contains an abundance of philosophical
thoughts, so it s no surprise that his novels hold theoretical situations in the ink embedded in their
pages. In Sputnik Sweetheart, the notion of perfection is challenged in the protagonists lives. Miu,
Sumire, and K all seem to be searching for society s idea of what a perfect specimen should look like,
and how they should live. This idea crumbles to dust after the climax of the novel. Remove everything
pointless from an imperfect life and it d lose even its imperfection. In After Dark, the concept of
nighttime feeling as if time has been altered is supported with the bustling street life of Tokyo.
Although the earth rests, individuals still battle with time for their own specialized needs. Even at a
time like this, the street is bright enough and filled with people coming and going people with places
to go and people with no place to go: people trying to hold back time and people trying to urge it

The International System And The Anarchism Of The...
According to the neo realism, the international system is structured by anarchy , in contrast to
domestic structure that is structured by hierarchy . The anarchy this term does not mean chaos or
disorder, but it means the absence of the world government or higher authority above the states that
provides security and stability and rule of law. This structure is the outcome of the sovereignty of the
states, as the unites of the international system are the states, and they are equals. This concept of the
anarchy has its roots in Thomas Hobbes` arguments about the individual in the state of nature, which
means the people `s life in a condition without government. In the state of nature, people will struggle
for resources and they rationally plan to hit first as an anticipatory defense because they fear that
others invade them. Neo realism consider that Anarchism of the international system is permanent and

IRISH IMMIGRATION IN 1850 S 3
Most of the Irish immigrants faced many prejudices and segregation. The nativists and the other
immigrants were afraid of them because of their religion and beliefs. They were forced to live in slums
and in poverty because they could not find jobs. The only work they could find was in servitude and
menial labor jobs. They were under educated and poor. The Irish were thought to be stupid and
ignorant, so they stayed to themselves.
The Irish emigrants entered a land with new social and cultural differences. At this time the African
Americans and Asian Americans were involved in disputes, along with the European Americans. Add
to this the disruptions between the Catholics and Protestants and there was not much peace in the
neighborhoods. During this time, they developed political partisanships which brought into line a
group called the Know Nothing Party and later the American Protective Association (APA). Neither of
these parties lasted for long, but the Irish were later associated with the new Democratic Party.
Also during this time, Irish immigrant soldiers played a big part in the Civil War

Discourse And Abortion
Plight of the Abandoned
Discourse is a tool for discovery and our greatest ally in our pursuit of ending child abandonment. In
this essay, I will briefly discuss possible solutions to alleviating this dire situation. Furthermore, I will
be discussing the ways in which child abandonment affects these unwanted children.
The child abandonment dilemma is a plague that affects all societies. Unfortunately, most women are
reluctant to discuss socially taboo topics such as child abandonment and abortion, let alone confess to
having partaken in it themselves. Herein lies our greatest obstacle. A pregnant mother who attempts to
conceal her pregnancy and subsequent childbirth, does not receive the necessary medical attention
which is required to ensure the well being of her newborn infant (6, 1). This results in unsafe or
unsanitary birthing conditions which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to this, education should be aimed at adults and children alike, regardless of gender. A
study of sexual and reproductive health conducted at schools in Kelantan, Malaysia revealed shocking
statistics that could have perilous implications (5). According to the researcher s findings, 69.96% of
the students were unaware that pregnancy could occur after having unprotected sex only once, and
64.4% indicated that they learn about sexual health from their peers (5). Misinformation and
inadequate information on sexual and reproductive health are catalysts for dire situations such as
unwanted pregnancies and child abandonment.
In summation, child abandonment leads to damaging ramifications for the unwanted child. Awareness
and availability of support systems such as baby hatches, are crucial to prevention. Child
abandonment is a plague on society that not only forsakes infants, but also the adults they will

Systematic Approach And Thematic Approach
As the traditional classroom has been evolving the educational landscape has also been altered with
technology advancement over the years. Today we learn through using various teaching methods, as
we have come to rely more on technology to enhance our learning experience rather than doing the
traditional method of just sitting in the classroom and having the teacher be the sage on the stage.
During this course I had been exposed to several teaching strategies, but the flip classroom approach
and the thematic approach had stuck out to me as those approach could transform the classroom into
one that is diverse. The flip classroom approach occurs where the student access instructional content

The disadvantages of this approach are as follows; students could lose interest since they are not
motivated and interested in the given topic, there could be issues with the content since the availability
of resources are limited to cover every aspect of the topic being administered, students could become
unwilling to participate since they are not given a choice of theme and students may score poorly since
are they are not as creative as their peers (Carl, n.d.). With the implementation of the flipped
classroom and the thematic approach students would no longer conform to the traditional approach
where only some students are reached. Students individual needs would be met once those approaches

Ebola Virus In The Hot Zone
Ebola Zaire, arguably the deadliest known virus strain on earth, held a mortality rate up to ninety
percent in the past, and is the hottest type of Ebola Viral Diseases. In addition, there are four other
types of Ebola species: Ebola Sudan, Ebola Ivory Coast, Bundibugyo ebolavirus, and Ebola Reston.
Notably, the earliest of Ebola outbreaks being from Ebola Sudan and Ebola Zaire, both erupted during
1976 in Africa. Previously known as the Ebola haemorrhagic fever, these virus are known to cause
tremors and convulsions in its host, resulting in the splattering of blood which is used as its strategy
for transmission. Other ways of contracting Ebola is through contact with patient s bodily fluids and

The Nature Of The Employment
Nature of the Employment
By nature employment is classified into part time and full time. The study of the nature of
employment helps in assessing the magnitude of workforce fully reliant on earning from the IMS.
This is discussed with Table 1 given below. More than 80% of workers are found to be engaged as full
time workers (FTW) at the national level. However a trend of sinking part of FTW is observed with a
increasing share of the part time workers (PTW). Dominance of male employment over the female
employment is observed both for the category of PTW as well as the FTW. Gender wise distribution
of employment shows that the share of both the full time male workers (FTMW) and full time female
workers (FTFW) have decreased in 1994 95 and then continuously increased in 2005 06. Part time
male workers (PTMW) shows declining share over the entire period, whereas the part time female
workers (PTFW) shows an increasing share during the same period. A discussion on the growth of
employment by nature and gender revealed the fact that growth rate of the FTW as well as PTW was
higher during early reform period as compared to the later reform period, at the national level. The
FTW suffered a negative growth during the later period, which causes the overall growth of the FTW
to be lower. The growth of the PTW at all India level is higher. The category of PTW, PTFW is
growing at a slower rate, but is higher than the growth rate of PTMW at the

Metaphors In Paper Towns
The Strings, the Grass, and the Vessel Life is very complex and often hard to define. However, this
challenge does not stop people from trying to sum up the meaning of life in one word. In Paper Towns
by John Green, the three metaphors the strings, the grass, and the vessel are used throughout the book
to chronicle the protagonist s, Quentin, experiences. The novel revolves around Quentin Jacobsen, a
high school senior. When his former best friend and long time crush, Margo Roth Spiegelman, comes
back into his life and then suddenly disappears, Q attempts to piece together the clues he believes
Margo left behind for him. Each of these three metaphors represent what Q is feeling and allow him to

We never fully heal from these events and they affect our lives from that point on. However, I think
the strings metaphor makes life sound more fragile than it actually is. Failures, hardships, obstacles
are not fatal. Though they do affect us, they also provide a choice: to either allow these events to lead
to instability or work to strengthen the strings we have left. Yes, eventually, all of our strings are cut;
the battle is over. We spend our entire lives in combat and the end is inevitable. Life is just a constant
battle to continue to exist. Though we may repair and grow as people, our days are numbered. Strings
make life sound like a countdown to death; Four strings to go, now three, two, one... In the book, Q
reflects on the dual implications of this metaphor, I like strings. I always have. Because that s how it
feels. But the strings make pain seem more fatal than it is... we are not as frail as the strings would
make us believe. (302) Though there is some truth in this metaphor, I believe that it focuses too much
on the futility of our existence; that no matter how valiantly we fight, we will someday cease to exist.
If you choose grass, you re saying we are all infinitely interconnected, that we can use these root
systems not only to understand one another but to become one another. (301) This metaphor states that
we all share a common root system and are infinitely connected. Though this it ia good thing as it

Lipids And The Proteins Of Lipids
Lipids
Lipids are part of a group of molecules which consist of fats, sterols, vitamins, phospholipids and
others.
We can find in our cell membrane glycerol phospholipids (phospholipids), which are part of the lipid
bilayer. The phospholipids can be found in biological membranes and their main function is to bind
proteins from the outside to the inside of cell membrane.
The structure of phospholipids is:
The phospholipids have 2 fatty acids and 2 long CH2 chains which are attached to a glycerol top.
The glycerol has a phosphate group which is hydrophilic attracted to water complete opposite to the
fatty acids chain which is hydrophobic scared of water .
The glycerol is an alcohol which is an organic compound with hydroxyl ... Show more content on

In general lipids are known as fats, and even though the normal idea in society that fats aren t good for
our body that isn t always true. Fats can be of extreme help, our body uses fats to produce energy and
protect us.
Lipids will come into work and store energy if a large number of unneeded fats are consumed; they
will store the calories in adipose cells and release them again when necessary such as while
exercising.
Another way fats are helpful to our body is in order to protect us; lipids use fats to isolate our body to
maintain our balanced temperature also it can be found surrounding our main organs (kidneys and
heart) serving as protection in case of injuries.
Last but not least our body uses lipids while digesting food; here lipids will support the body
absorbing nutrients. The bile acids in our liver will allow the mixture of water and fats in order to
break down and absorb food which will later on be translated into vitamins and used to maintain our
vision and blood correct levels.

Twelfth Night and Pygmalion
The play Twelfth Night is set in a Elizabethan country household in a place called Illyria. Illyria is a
fictional place. Although the setting felt familiar to the audience, the name Illyria gave it a feeling of
escape from reality, something that was important because everyday life could be tough in those days.
The people needed an escape from reality sometimes. In this play we meet the upper class, as well as
the lower class. It is not certain whether it really is twelfth night , but there are several things in this
play that suggest that it might well be the twelfth night. The twelfth night is on the 6th of January, a

I think the audience liked it that way, very straight to the point. The audience of a typical Shakespeare
play has a wide social range. All kinds of people, from ambassadors to apprentices came to watch
them. The audience loved the special use of, and play with language, and the rapid pace on stage. The
culture of an audience at that time was very oral, the spectators always had a witty comment up their
sleeve and did not hesitate to shout a response to the actors on stage. This made the actors both actors
and people, a certain duality was played at. All of the actors of the Elizabethan time were men. It was
against the law to allow women on stage, at least in the big public plays. Women were by far the
weaker sex, despite of having a queen running the country.
The props used in this play were few but adequate. Both the props and the costumes were well made
and played an important role in making the play successful. Some critics have said that this play is an
attack on Puritanism, where Malvolio represents the puritan who is quite disliked by everybody
around him. The name malvolio bears a strong resemblance to the Latin words mal voglio , which
means ill will. Maybe it is because the character Malvolio is so self absorbed and gullible, that
Shakespeare gave him this particular name? Maybe the critics were partly right? Another important

time that Boeing has ever lost its leading market share. The 787 is the first new airplane that Boeing
has introduced to the market in a decade. This case study examines how the 787 is strategically

With all the steps that Boeing took, it was guaranteed that Boeing would be successful in the market.
2. How does the approach used for the 787 s development differ fundamentally from other airplane
projects undertaken by Boeing?
The approach that Boeing 787 took was fundamentally different than other airplane projects
undertaken by Boeing. Boeing built 70% of the products of Boeing 787 from different countries of the
world. Boeing has a long standing reputation to be secretive with their projects, so it was a big step for
Boeing to break their privacy and work with a group of people across geographical boundaries. 35%
of the plane s structure was supplied from Japan. Approximately, 26% of the products were supplied
from Italy. There were teams of 15 companies responsible for the structure of the plane, 10 teams from
USA and the rest from seven other countries. A lot of the other products were also ordered from
different parts of the world, including the vertical fin from Frederickson as well as the fixed and
movable leading edges of the wing from Tulsa. Once all the parts were built, they were sent back to
USA for the assembly. Also, 787 would be the first aircraft of its kind to bring long range capabilities
to a midsized airplane. It was also the first time Boeing had its structural suppliers fund their own
research and development so that suppliers had a greater

Understanding Fate, Women, And Oaths
Understanding Fate, Women, and Oaths in The Franklin s Prologue and Tale From a Comparison with
The Knight s Tale The Franklin s Tale narrates the romantic conflict between Dorigene, a distressed
maiden, Arveragus, a meke knight (739), and Aurelius, a besotted squire. Although Dorigene and
Arveragus are contently married, Aurelius continues to court Dorigene and attempts to win her over
by removing alle the rokkes, stoon by stoon (993) from the coast of Brittany. When Aurelius informs
Dorigene that he has successfully vanished the rocks, she realizes she is bound to been [his] love (990)
by a promise made in pley , and bemoans her situation for a day or tweye : Allas! quod she, that ever
was I born!/ Thus have I seyd, quod she, thus have I sworn . (Franklin s Tale. 1463 64). The first part
of this couplet is extraordinary passive and demonstrates Dorigene s belief that human lives are fated
from birth. On the other hand, the active syntax of the second line suggests that Dorigene has agency
over her words and her promise and assumes partial responsibility for her situation. The tonal gap
between the two halves captures a contradiction in Dorigene s lament that is replicated and magnified
in The Franklin s Tale . Although the Franklin attempts to quit with The Knight s Tale and presents his
characters as equally dependent on fate and the gods, he overgoes his social superior by emphasizing
ideas that the Knight ignores or otherwise undermines

Phases Of Interrogation At The Most Comfortable
Phases of interrogation The first phase of the interrogation is to establish the norm. This is done to
determine the general behavior of the subject, as the goal is to establish the characteristics of the
subject at the most comfortable. As a result, the interviewer can then interpret the subject s behavior
and communication as the interrogation goes on. The second phase is to build credibility. The
interviewer describes his or her job and experiences, giving examples of situations that are commonly
encountered, and judges the subject s reactions along the way. The interviewer s goal in building
credibility is to convince the subject that he or she is caught of committing a crime without stating any
accusations or revealing evidence. The third phase is to create an opportunity for the subject to save
face and transfer blame. The interviewer guides the subject into telling the truth. The goal is to make
the subject feel better about admitting the truth by finding a socially acceptable reason for being
honest. The subject will feel better about telling the truth if he or she feels that admitting what
happened is better than being caught lying, and if the reason for the crime was for non malicious
reasons. The fourth phase is to establish a sense of urgency. In this phase, the interviewer explains to
the subject that he or she has a limited amount of time to tell the company his or her side of the story.
The interviewer explains that the company may make a decision

I Want To Pursue My Post-Secondary Education
As a high school senior I am looking forward to continuing my education this fall. A post secondary
education will help me achieve my future goal of becoming the best pediatric neurosurgeon I can be
and save every life I can. At the age of fifteen I started my own business to help bring hope into the
lives of families that are going through challenging times. I founded Every Little Stitch to create
special keepsakes for orphans, children who have had traumatic injuries, foster children, ladies groups,
churches, and even to be an encouragement to parents who have lost their child. I have personally
walked through the halls of many hospitals where lives will never be the same. Nearly two years ago,
my brother was involved in a freak accident ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

to several lives but as a pediatric neurosurgeon I am praying that I can help save these little lives from
these deadly diseases. Being homeschooled through A Beka Academy Homeschool Video Program

The Six Ethical Principles In Social Work
INTRO In the profession that is social work there are standards and rules to live by on the day to day
routine. There are six broad Ethical Principles Social Workers primary goal is to help people in need
and address social problems, Social Workers challenge social injustice, Social Workers respect the
inherent dignity and worth of the person, Social Workers recognize the central importance of human
relationship, Social Workers behave in a trustworthy manner, and last but not least, Social Workers
practice within their areas of competence and develop and enhance their professional experience.
Without each and every one of these Social Workers could not enhance the lives of others.
REFLECTION
The six broad Ethical Principles in the Code of Ethics are a necessity for a social worker to be
competent in always. All six Ethical Principles are equally important they all provide a value to each
principle. The value of service, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the big ones I see is with the importance of human relationships conflicting with social worker
behaving in a trustworthy manner. By behaving in a trustworthy manner you can have adult or kids
wanting to be your best friend and kids may see you as a mother/father figure. What happens when the
kid s stops being your client, will he get depressed feel abandoned. It is hard to keep that boundary of
showing someone they can trust you with anything, but to also let them know this is a temporary
relationship and it has to be profession.
CONCLUSION
All of the six broad Ethical Principles are very important to understand and to always be competent in
the social work profession. Some may be more difficult than others to follow through with, but this all
takes time to learn.

Essay about First-Person Narration Techniques in Cathedral
A first person narration provides an interesting perspective on the main action of a story. A narrator
can express his/her own thoughts and feelings, which in turn develops a more personal and relatable
story to the reader. Raymond Carver often uses this literary point of view tactic in his short stories to
reveal the traits of the narrator. In Cathedral, Carver uses conversational tone and diction to reveal the
narrator s character; which is prejudicial at first, but becomes empathic by the end. Knowing this
narrator s characteristics facilitates the reader s understanding of major components of the story, such
as the narrator s hostility to Robert, his loser like sociality, and the climax of opening up to Robert.
One way Carver ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This bitterness and sarcasm is revealed as strong characteristics of the narrator. Throughout the
majority of the story, the narrator continues shows his distaste for any happy situation. Much like the
hyphenated asides, Carver implements fragmented sentences behind description, to show the narrator
pausing for a moment of color commentary. I saw my wife laughing as she parked the car. I saw her
get out of the car and shut the door. She was still wearing a smile. Just amazing (Cathedral 214). This
quote illustrates the narrator s inclination to state his subjective disbelief of a situation with which he
does not agree. The sour statement, just amazing, while unnecessary to the storyline, depicts exactly
this. Carver specifically makes the writing seem hostile and cynical, by his use of conversational tone.
As a result, we connect these characteristics of the writing with that of the narrator. Through the
author s use of diction, more aspects of the narrator s personality are revealed. Simply from word
choice, we learn that the narrator is prejudicial towards others, and jealous of other men s relationships
with his wife. When facing the situation of Robert coming to town to visit his wife, the narrator
blatantly expresses that a blind man in my house was not something I looked forward to (Carver 209).
This repeated substitution of blind man

Becoming An Active Learner By Skip Downing
Some future college students are born with a natural talent in the subject English. Which includes
critical thinking, writing, and reading. While for others, possibly being mathematicians, English is and
probably will never be their keen subject in life. Students find more passions in sciences, arts, and
medical teachings which is not something to look down upon. Although, many students forget that
English is still a huge part of all these subjects. Where ever these students go they will find the
necessity to read something or to write something. That s where college English comes in handy.
College English prepares students for academic writing at a university level, and also for their careers
when formal writing is required. Many students fear college English classes, but there are many ways
to succeed in these college English classes. Looking over the articles Becoming an Active Learner by
Skip Downing, Brianology by Carol S. Dweck, and The Right to Fail by Willliam Zinsser, these
authors express their feelings on being able to succeed in life in a general view. Mainly taking
education into consideration. Students should not be afraid of college English classes because their are
many ways to succeed in them by establishing a growth mindset, creating an active learning pattern,
and having a positive and mature attitude. To start off, if students establish and set their minds to a
growth mindset, these students are more likely to succeed in college English. A growth

John Keats Research Paper
French novelist Marcel Proust once noted, Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are
the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. This statement, which fully exemplifies
friendship, embodies John Keats persona. It is recognized that Keats was a master of friend maker,
which puzzled those close to him. Throughout his life, he made friends who not only helped him
through struggles, but also influenced his poetry, especially his greatest works. According to Ronald
Sharp, Anyone reading Keats s letters with an eye to his view of friendship cannot but be struck by the
magnitude of his concern with the subject: the sheer frequency of his discussion of it, the subtlety of
his reflections on it, and the characteristic sensitivity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of Keats earliest poems, Sleep and Poetry, focuses on the aspects of friendship. In the poem he
states, . . . that it should be a friend/To sooth the cares and lift the thought of man (2.45 47)/And they
shall be accustomed poet kings/Who simply tell most heart easing things (2.67 68). Keats believed
that friends are people who you can talk to and will always be there, which is embodied in this poem.
Besides Sleep and Poetry, there are many other poems that have incorporations of friendship, such as
in Ode on a Grecian Urn, in which he refers to the urn as a friend to man. Many of his poems that
discuss the aspects of friendship. Keats friends were also major influences on his writing; he dedicated
many of his works to them. After Keats discovered that poetry was his destiny, he stayed with his
friend Benjamin Bailey, who he met at Oxford. His stay was very influential, as not only was house
comfortable and contained a variety of inspiring books, but Bailey s schedule helped his poetry
advance. They would start their day working together and late in the afternoon Keats would read his
poems to Bailey, after which they would discuss while on long walks (Hanson). Hanson wrote that,
Bailey genuinely admired Keats.

Assumptions In To Kill A Mockingbird
To Kill a Mockingbird is a novel by Harper Lee, and it is historical fiction set in Maycomb, Alabama
in 1933 during the Great Depression. Judging someone on false information or rumor is a common
problem throughout many societies. Assumptions can lead to a large amount of damage to the person
being judged. The character Boo Radley is locked away in a house where outside that house, he is
constantly referred as the loon of the town. No one has ever met him, but everyone in the town of
Maycomb, especially the Finch children, Jem and Scout, think they know all about him. The way the
citizens view Boo Radley reflects how people can seriously misjudge someone and make assumptions
about the person, even though they know nothing about him. The ... Show more content on

When people s azaleas froze in a cold snap, it was because he had breathed on them. Any stealthy
small crimes committed in Maycomb were his work. (9/147) Boo Radley is clearly misjudged just
because no one sees him. Rumors and assumptions often dictated people s views on things at that
time. Scout is also very vague when she refers to people, which could mean that no one really said
that. Crazy Addie was convicted of nocturnal disturbances in Maycomb, but people thought that it was
somehow Boo Radley who committed the disturbances. Jem gives a description of Boo that Dill and
Scout consider reasonable. However, the children don t know what reasonable is, because they have
never really seen him. There was a long jagged scar that ran across his face; what teeth he had were
yellow and rotten; his eyes popped, and he drooled most of the time. (11) Boo is also described as six
and a half feet tall, and he kills and eats squirrels and cats to survive. This was a description by a child
who has never seen the actual person. Children have a lot of imagination, so they tend to exaggerate
things. They want excitement in their lives at the expense of judging a man whom they cannot prove
anything about. Stephanie Crawford

Genetically Modified Technology And Their Growing...
Genetically modified technology refers to the process of isolating an exogenous gene from animals,
plants, or microbes and transferring it to another organism. Many people have concerns with the
process of genetically modified foods, and its growing popularity within farmers. The persistence with
which GMF organizations want farmers to turn their farm into a genetically modified farm is
sometimes overboard. So much so, farmers grow tired of these organizations bugging them, and these
farmers eventually agree to modify their crops. Neighboring farmers have concerns that the GMF
herbicides would spread to their own farms, causing their farms to have a modified effect on crops.
The first generation of modified crops main objective was to make the crops insect resistant and
herbicide tolerant. Some of the benefits to planting these new GM crops was the decreased need to
spray their farms with the insecticides and herbicides. These concerns with GMF also included labels,
safety/health, and the perception of GMF. There are questions of which foods are genetically
modified, because most of the organizations don t put labels on their products. People protested the
companies and demanded that these such companies put labels on products, so that consumers against
modification could pick out the food that is organic. Protesters would try to bring down a company,
but usually could not find enough evidence to make a case against them. GM foods, corporate, and
state actors are

Carter was Absolute on Human Rights?
An Examination of President Jimmy Carter s Human Rights Policy in Argentina
Introduction:
President Jimmy Carter declared in his inaugural address that the US s commitment towards human
rights must be absolute . Human rights under Carter were anything but absolute. Under his presidency,
the US sent contradictory messages: one opposing human rights violations and another which seemed
to overlook human rights abuses. The issue of human rights was not Carter s only priority. In reality,
human rights ended up being one of many of the Carter administration priorities. All of these foci
collided, and left Carter with no real center to his foreign policy. One of Carter s first attempts to
implement his human rights initiatives was in Argentina. The authoritarian, rightist Juntas organized a
violent repression against political dissidents. Trying to distance himself from the policies of
Ford/Kissinger, Carter attempted to pressure the authoritarian regime to improve their human rights
record via reductions in military aid and economic sanctions. These maneuvers led to some mild
improvements initially, but ultimately came back to hurt the Carter administration after the Soviet
invasion of Afghanistan. Argentina s decision to align itself with the Soviets rather than the US on the
issue of grain embargoes is an example of the Carter administration s poor foresight. Carter over
compartmentalized his foreign policy agenda and

Review Of Ordeal Of The Longhouse By Daniel Richter
Daniel Richter, an American historian, completed his literary work, Ordeal of the Longhouse in 1992.
His purpose of writing this book was to illustrate the Native Americans side of the colonization of
America and their interactions with the new colonizers, while emphasizing the ordeals that they faced
at that time. Those ordeals included: disease, economic dependency, imperial struggles, and issues
with their neighbors (2). Richter was out to prove that despite and because of these struggles, Iroquois
culture, politics, and diplomacy evolved in the 17th and 18th century through their interactions with
different groups of European peoples. These interactions have shaped Native American traditions as
well as American diplomacy as we know it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He discusses one instance where the English joined in an alliance with the Iroquois in order to further
an anti French sentiment, which would then aid the English in maintaining control of the land and
trade. I do not believe that the advantages that the Iroquois gained from these cultivated ties, if any,
were clearly presented in the book. Furthermore, not only does it seem like the Indians were not in
control of their own destiny and actions at times, but also that they were naive to look positively on
the diplomatic gifts from the Europeans. For example, in 1673, the Dutch military gave the Mohawks
a diplomatic present in hopes that the Mohawks would tell the commander of the state to put a stop to
all correspondence with the Jesuit and Frenchmen from Canada (135). In the midst of the different
European nations struggles with one another, it is difficult to see where the Iroquois really come into
play and make a case for their own identity until the 18th

Differences Between Henri De Lautrec s Painting And Degas...
Lautrec once said, I paint things as they are. I don t comment ( Henri de Toulouse Lautrec quotes,
n.d.). A painting can represent various objects and emotions within a square canvas, which each artist
creates an artwork with different techniques. These make each painting has it own meaning. There are
several differences between Lautrec s painting and Degas painting, which are the artists themselves,
the subject matter, the emotions depicted, and the technique of painting.
The first difference between the paintings is the artists themselves. An artist is a person who produces
an artwork. Henri de Toulouse Lautrec is a french man. He was born into an aristocratic family, which
seems to be beneficial to him. However, he was born with a genetic condition. Between the ages of
thirteen and fourteen, his legs were fractured, and both of them ceased to grow because he had a
skeletal disorder that causes his bones to recover improperly (Johnson Whitten, 2003). Due to his
abnormality, he was not able to do the same activities as others, so he mainly focused on art. He

Composition means the position that each element placed in a painting. Lautrec managed the position
of the feature in Seated Dancer in Pink Tights by focusing on the center and painting this ballerina in a
major scale of the artwork (Martin, 2003). On the other hand, Degas painted two objects in Waiting,
and the artist divided the space into two section for each of them (Martin, 2003). There are numerous
techniques to place features into different positions. Seated Dancer in Pink Tight, Lautrec s painting,
focuses on the single object at the center of the painting, which is a ballerina. On the other side, Degas
s painting illustrates several features, which is a ballerina and a woman dressing in black, in order to
support the contrary detail of each feature. In summary, composition is the fourth

Our elders deserve much better than that from us. We are the home of the free not the abused. Let s
start with the different types of what is considered elder abuse. Elder abuse is the term that refers to
any knowing, intentional, or negligent act by a caregiver or any other person that causes harm or a
serious risk of harm to an elder. (Administration on Aging (AOA)). Fifty states have now passed some
form of elder abuse prevention laws to help with this ongoing issue. Elder abuse also includes physical
abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, financial exploitation, emotional abuse, and self neglect. Now let s
explore what these types of abuse are so we may fully comprehend them. Physical Abuse is inflicting
physical pain or injury on an elder. It is also the second most common form of abuse. Some examples
being: slapping, bruising, or restraining by physical or chemical means. Also, improperly restraining
or drugging an elderly person is also considered a form of physical abuse (Angela, 1999 2011). Lastly

any non consensual sexual contact of any kind to the elder. Sexual elder abuse is perhaps the most
worst of all acts perpetrated by nursing home staff and caretakers upon elders. Sexual abuse occurs

  • 2. Keiser University Case Study Keiser University is a private university with 14 campuses located through the state of Florida. The university currently has a population of over twelve thousand students and with the fall classes approaching fast the expected number of students to enroll will add frustration for the school s financial aid team. The university has been around since 1980 and started out as a small technical school with a first class of 4 students. In past years the financial aid process had been known to be extremely slow and lacks technology at most career focused schools. (Venegas, 2006). Currently to complete student s financial aid process it can take up to 1 week to finalize all information. The potential student may need to make several visits to the campus and could cause frustration for the student and parent. Along with this frustration this could cause the future student and parent to make a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are risks and financial impacts to be taken into consideration. Financial risk is concerned with the school s ability to generate sufficient cash flow to be able to make interest payments on financing or meet other debt related obligations. In the schools case a bad technology decision can derail or destroy an otherwise important project. One risk may be that management assumes that a system that works miracles for another organization may not be appropriate for our organization. A second risk may be that the app does not deliver what management promise, or a feature is implemented in a way that does not solve the problem we need to solve. Third there may be a risk that the staff and faculty do not understand the importance of change here and they become reluctant to stay in their positions that will create a lot of ... • 3. Machiavelli And Fear Niccolò Machiavelli was an Italian politician and writer during the sixteenth century. He is most famous for his book The Prince which talks about how to gain political power. His book addresses the concept of the new prince rather than the hereditary prince who must stabilize his power as well a building political structure. In The Prince, Machiavelli talks about whether it is better to be feared or loved. Machiavelli states that a leader should be both feared and loved, but that if you had to pick one, pick fear. I do believe that being feared has advantages when ruling a country and makes a leader more successful in the long run. It is better to be feared than loved because love is usually a chosen emotion. We tend to choose who we love but something will usually provoke us to fear someone. Love is at our own choice, and fear is at the Prince s choice. When a leader is loved, he has to make everyone happy to try and keep that love going, which usually cannot happen no matter how hard one tries. When he is feared, he will not have to worry about what other people think. Machiavelli states that, Men ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Machiavelli also says that, Love is held by a chain of duty which since men are bad, they break at every chance of their own profit (Cunningham and Reich 35). If breaking the chain gives someone an advantage, they will break it no matter what do what is better for them. Even if they love the person, the men Machiavelli is talking about will put themselves first, not thinking about the people that they love. This can still be seen in today s society as well. Chem 112 Technical Abstract Determination of Cations and Anions through Elimination and Confirmation Tests By: Symantha Resendiz Introduction A topic of great importance to all scientists is the identification of compounds, which is relevant in all aspects of their work in some way shape or form. Weather it may be determining what is causing sickness or what is polluting the air, it is very prevalent in the science world. In project 2, identification of cations and anions was preformed through a series of confirmation and elimination tests that ultimately led to identifying an unknown ionic compound made of cations and anions. Materials and Methods Part 1 Cation Tests To begin, 5 centrifuge tubes were added 10 drops of one cation and labeled ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The mixture was then transferred to a clean centrifuge tube via pipet, carefully not wetting the upper walls of the tube. Zinc granules were then added and the tube was immediately plugged with cotton 1/3 of the way into the tube. The tube was then warmed in a hot water bath for about 5 minutes, the folded red litmus paper was inserted at the top of the tube with a wet crease. After a few minutes, nitrate is indicated on the wet crease of the litmus paper, turning it blue. For the Carbonate test, 25 mg of carbonate sample was added to a centrifuge tube and 3 drops of 6 M H2SO4 was added. A disposable pipet was used to transfer a drop of Ba(OH)2, that hung directly from the pipet over the carbonate solution, and the observations of the drop were recorded. Part 3 Cation and Anion Analysis For the cation analysis, 0.566 g of an unknown compound was dissolved completely in 5mL of distilled water in a centrifuge tube, thus confirming this solution as a stock solution. A flame test was performed on the stock solution to give a general idea of what test was to e preformed on the stock solution deriving the information from our logic trees in part 1. The logic tree from part 1 and the flame test confirmed that we needed to conduct an ammonia test on the stock solution. • 5. Sexual Selection Is A Powerful Evolutionary Process Mate selection Sexual Selection is a powerful evolutionary process, for those unable to attract or gain access to the opposite sex, risk being eliminated from the population (Apostolou). The theory of sexual selection was introduced by Charles Darwin in his book The Descent of Man, in which he explains, that selecting a mate is not a random process, and it is key to evolution, for it depends on which individuals have advantage over the rest of the same specie (Stanford 99). In sexual selection, males compete between one another to gain access to a mate, and females choose particular promising mates that demonstrate trait variability, so that their future offspring will have a higher chance of survival (Stanford 99). Male individuals have to demonstrate power, who can conquer the most, ability to survive and provide protection, among other characteristics that will make him the right mate for a female. And Females, must consider their options, since they want high quality genes for their future children (Angeloni 77). Therefore, as a female, I am seeking for specific characteristics in a mate, such as a lean body build, healthy white teeth, and height he must be over 5 6. I seek for those traits in a mate to further add trait variability in my future offspring, which will help adapt, live longer, and reproduce in the future. Females are the choosing sex, for they are usually the ones who invest more in their offspring from the birth to the nurturing (Stanford 100). Second, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of the distinguishing features of cystic fibrosis is the thick mucus that lines both the airways and the intestinal tract of affected individuals. In the respiratory tract, this thick mucus is not removed by the cilia that usually beat and push mucus up into the throat. This thick mucus builds up in the airways, and bacteria trapped in the mucus are not removed. Thus bacterial respiratory infections are extremely common. Colorado.edu 4. Explain the reasoning behind the appearance of his sputum. Sam s sputum was viscid because the excessive Chloride ions inside the cells attract water, so water does not leave the cells. This water is what makes the mucus thin and slippery. Without the water the mucus is thick and sticky. Sam s sputum was probably green due to all of the bacteria that has built up in his respiratory tract because the mucus escalator cannot move the mucus up and out.. Textbook pg 817 5. The child abandonment dilemma is a plague that affects all societies. Unfortunately, most women are reluctant to discuss socially taboo topics such as child abandonment and abortion, let alone confess to having partaken in it themselves. • 16. The Nature Of The Employment Nature of the Employment By nature employment is classified into part time and full time. The study of the nature of employment helps in assessing the magnitude of workforce fully reliant on earning from the IMS. This is discussed with Table 1 given below. More than 80% of workers are found to be engaged as full time workers (FTW) at the national level. However a trend of sinking part of FTW is observed with a increasing share of the part time workers (PTW). Dominance of male employment over the female employment is observed both for the category of PTW as well as the FTW. Gender wise distribution of employment shows that the share of both the full time male workers (FTMW) and full time female workers (FTFW) have decreased in 1994 95 and then continuously increased in 2005 06. Part time male workers (PTMW) shows declining share over the entire period, whereas the part time female workers (PTFW) shows an increasing share during the same period. A discussion on the growth of employment by nature and gender revealed the fact that growth rate of the FTW as well as PTW was higher during early reform period as compared to the later reform period, at the national level. The FTW suffered a negative growth during the later period, which causes the overall growth of the FTW to be lower. The growth of the PTW at all India level is higher. However, this challenge does not stop people from trying to sum up the meaning of life in one word. In Paper Towns by John Green, the three metaphors the strings, the grass, and the vessel are used throughout the book to chronicle the protagonist s, Quentin, experiences. The novel revolves around Quentin Jacobsen, a high school senior. When his former best friend and long time crush, Margo Roth Spiegelman, comes back into his life and then suddenly disappears, Q attempts to piece together the clues he believes Margo left behind for him. Each of these three metaphors represent what Q is feeling and allow him to view life from different perspectives. As ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We never fully heal from these events and they affect our lives from that point on. However, I think the strings metaphor makes life sound more fragile than it actually is. Failures, hardships, obstacles are not fatal. Though they do affect us, they also provide a choice: to either allow these events to lead to instability or work to strengthen the strings we have left. Yes, eventually, all of our strings are cut; the battle is over. We spend our entire lives in combat and the end is inevitable. Life is just a constant battle to continue to exist. Though we may repair and grow as people, our days are numbered. Strings make life sound like a countdown to death; Four strings to go, now three, two, one... In the book, Q reflects on the dual implications of this metaphor, I like strings. I always have. Because that s how it feels. But the strings make pain seem more fatal than it is... we are not as frail as the strings would make us believe. (302) Though there is some truth in this metaphor, I believe that it focuses too much on the futility of our existence; that no matter how valiantly we fight, we will someday cease to exist. If you choose grass, you re saying we are all infinitely interconnected, that we can use these root systems not only to understand one another but to become one another. (301) This metaphor states that we all share a common root system and are infinitely connected. Though this it ia good thing as it allows us to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although the setting felt familiar to the audience, the name Illyria gave it a feeling of escape from reality, something that was important because everyday life could be tough in those days. The people needed an escape from reality sometimes. In this play we meet the upper class, as well as the lower class. It is not certain whether it really is twelfth night , but there are several things in this play that suggest that it might well be the twelfth night. All kinds of people, from ambassadors to apprentices came to watch them. The audience loved the special use of, and play with language, and the rapid pace on stage. The culture of an audience at that time was very oral, the spectators always had a witty comment up their sleeve and did not hesitate to shout a response to the actors on stage. This made the actors both actors and people, a certain duality was played at. All of the actors of the Elizabethan time were men. It was against the law to allow women on stage, at least in the big public plays. Women were by far the weaker sex, despite of having a queen running the country. The props used in this play were few but adequate. Both the props and the costumes were well made and played an important role in making the play successful. Some critics have said that this play is an attack on Puritanism, where Malvolio represents the puritan who is quite disliked by everybody around him. The name malvolio bears a strong resemblance to the Latin words mal voglio , which means ill will. Although Dorigene and Arveragus are contently married, Aurelius continues to court Dorigene and attempts to win her over by removing alle the rokkes, stoon by stoon (993) from the coast of Brittany. The tonal gap between the two halves captures a contradiction in Dorigene s lament that is replicated and magnified in The Franklin s Tale . • 26. Essay about First-Person Narration Techniques in Cathedral A first person narration provides an interesting perspective on the main action of a story. A narrator can express his/her own thoughts and feelings, which in turn develops a more personal and relatable story to the reader. Raymond Carver often uses this literary point of view tactic in his short stories to reveal the traits of the narrator. In Cathedral, Carver uses conversational tone and diction to reveal the narrator s character; which is prejudicial at first, but becomes empathic by the end. Knowing this narrator s characteristics facilitates the reader s understanding of major components of the story, such as the narrator s hostility to Robert, his loser like sociality, and the climax of opening up to Robert. One way Carver ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This bitterness and sarcasm is revealed as strong characteristics of the narrator. Throughout the majority of the story, the narrator continues shows his distaste for any happy situation. Much like the hyphenated asides, Carver implements fragmented sentences behind description, to show the narrator pausing for a moment of color commentary. I saw my wife laughing as she parked the car. I saw her get out of the car and shut the door. She was still wearing a smile. Just amazing (Cathedral 214). This quote illustrates the narrator s inclination to state his subjective disbelief of a situation with which he does not agree. The sour statement, just amazing, while unnecessary to the storyline, depicts exactly this. Carver specifically makes the writing seem hostile and cynical, by his use of conversational tone. As a result, we connect these characteristics of the writing with that of the narrator. Through the author s use of diction, more aspects of the narrator s personality are revealed. Simply from word choice, we learn that the narrator is prejudicial towards others, and jealous of other men s relationships with his wife. Genetically modified technology refers to the process of isolating an exogenous gene from animals, plants, or microbes and transferring it to another organism. Many people have concerns with the process of genetically modified foods, and its growing popularity within farmers. The persistence with which GMF organizations want farmers to turn their farm into a genetically modified farm is sometimes overboard. So much so, farmers grow tired of these organizations bugging them, and these farmers eventually agree to modify their crops. Neighboring farmers have concerns that the GMF herbicides would spread to their own farms, causing their farms to have a modified effect on crops. The first generation of modified crops main objective was to make the crops insect resistant and herbicide tolerant. Some of the benefits to planting these new GM crops was the decreased need to spray their farms with the insecticides and herbicides. These concerns with GMF also included labels, safety/health, and the perception of GMF. There are questions of which foods are genetically modified, because most of the organizations don t put labels on their products. People protested the companies and demanded that these such companies put labels on products, so that consumers against modification could pick out the food that is organic. An Examination of President Jimmy Carter s Human Rights Policy in Argentina Introduction: President Jimmy Carter declared in his inaugural address that the US s commitment towards human rights must be absolute . Human rights under Carter were anything but absolute. Under his presidency, the US sent contradictory messages: one opposing human rights violations and another which seemed to overlook human rights abuses. The issue of human rights was not Carter s only priority. In reality, human rights ended up being one of many of the Carter administration priorities. All of these foci collided, and left Carter with no real center to his foreign policy. One of Carter s first attempts to implement his human rights initiatives was in Argentina. The authoritarian, rightist Juntas organized a violent repression against political dissidents. Trying to distance himself from the policies of Ford/Kissinger, Carter attempted to pressure the authoritarian regime to improve their human rights record via reductions in military aid and economic sanctions. These maneuvers led to some mild improvements initially, but ultimately came back to hurt the Carter administration after the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Argentina s decision to align itself with the Soviets rather than the US on the issue of grain embargoes is an example of the Carter administration s poor foresight. Furthermore, not only does it seem like the Indians were not in control of their own destiny and actions at times, but also that they were naive to look positively on the diplomatic gifts from the Europeans.
