New Sound Equipment During The Film Industry
Once the Vitaphone staked its claim in the film industry the research and application of new sound
equipment began to grow rapidly. First moving to even louder speakers for the audience to enjoy the
music even more. Then moving to stereo speakers having different sounds coming from different
speakers. Then moving to surround sound where the audience is engulfed in music and sound effects
from all around them. Finally to our current technology of IMAX sound adding even more speakers
and pushing sound to the point of shaking the seats in the theaters. One of the most important
contributions that the talkies provided was the technique of sound mixing. Going back to the rituals of
the Sumerians and through Greek and Roman period through classical and romantic opera the
instrumentalist would either have to play soft or not at all when there was singing or talking because
the instruments would drown out the voices. Now with sound mixing that is not the case. They can
always raise the voice and lower the instrumental music from machines instead of the singers trying to
sing over the orchestra. A perfect example of this explanation was given by one of the greatest film
music composers of his time Bernard Herrmann, For by separately recording music and sound and
voice, we are able to mix them together at the proper volume. The speaking voice and the music can
achieve a perfect balance. That is the greatest contribution of the genuine sound film . Without this
invention the

The Concept Of Reliability Within Measurement
The concept of reliability within measurement is often debated amongst health professionals, as it is
crucial to the recording of physiological improvements in active and passive range of motion (ROM).
In particular, different techniques such as observation, goniometry and inclinometry are utilised in
clinical settings to determine the ROM for elbow extension. It is noted that, reliable methods are
fundamental for providing quantitative relationships and an understanding of musculoskeletal
impairments.
Often overlooked, reliability is essential for the recognition and consequently the diagnosis of
abnormal elbow extension within physiotherapy. In particular, the diagnosis of impairments and
diseases such as septic arthritis, ulnar nerve entrapment, (Philippou, Maridaki Bogdanis, 2003)
osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis (Bucala, 2011) affect a patient s elbow extension. Thus,
measurement methods during diagnosis must be accurate and reliable. In regards to patient progress,
the effectiveness of treatments can be recorded quantitatively with measurement. Thus, it follows that
a lack in reliability would dramatically compromise the integrity of elbow extension measurements. It
is argued that all measurements must be reliable to ensure accuracy and the best possible care for
patients.
Considered a worldwide detriment, particularly in the elderly, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis
are some of the most common reasons for seeking treatment with a musculoskeletal

The Theory Of Liberal Ideology
Political Science Midterm I will be speaking on important political terms, explain the development of
liberal ideology in the United States of America, and touch on a few other areas of political culture.
First off liberalism; liberalism is a way of political worldview by the ideas of liberty and equality.
Although in a certain time in our history equality was somewhat of a lie. Slavery, racism, and
feminism prove that not every single person on the planet had equal rights. In the 1650 s to 1780 s
western Europe had people that were thinking of ways to enlighten the people and bring change to the
world they all live in, called the Age of Enlightenment. Mostly philosophers emphasized reason,
analysis, and individualism. People like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are liberal liberals, conservative liberals, and radical liberals. Which mostly all follow the basic
structure of liberalism. For example liberal liberals believe that for social safety people need help to
feed their families and take care of themselves because not everyone can make it in this world and put
food in peoples mouths, afford medical insurance, civilized people try to help each other, not leave
them starving and without care. On the conservative side, there views are that people should be
responsible for themselves, if they are given the chance they are completely capable of supporting
themselves and their families. They also believe that if government always picks up and pampers the
poor or needy, they will be weak and lose their motivation to work. For money, taxes, and the part that
the government plays; the conservatives believe that government should serve the people. Not the
other way around. The liberals say that the proper function of a government is to solve issues,
decrease poverty, protect civil rights and liberties. And to make sure that all Americans have a fair
chance to succeed.
The dimensions of the ideology of liberalism are political and economic liberalism. Political
liberalism underlines the social contract. Where citizens can make laws and agree to follow those
laws. Most people believe that individuals know what is best for them. Also it allows people to
represent themselves without the need to worry

Use Of Light And Dark Imagery In Beowulf
The eternal struggle between good and evil unwavering as always. This battle has been seen
throughout time and has been implemented into mass media. This revolutionary thought is used
consistently. Light and dark imagery is used in stories to differentiate between good and evil. The
entire premise of the story Beowulf is based upon one hero, Beowulf, attempting to eradicate evil.
Whomever wrote Beowulf used light and dark imagery to create a visual representation of places and
characters throughout the story.
Beowulf is a long narrative that contrasts light and dark. This story contains many key words that
differentiate between the two based upon the mood of the story. Some words from Hrothgar that
would lean towards a more happy tone, And then, in the morning, this med hall glittering/ (480 488)
the author uses this line to show that the mead hall is usually a happy and upbeat place. The phrase
glittering shows that the mead hall is clean and constructed before Grendel arrives. It also shows that
the mead hall was once bustling with many people gathered happily under one roof. ... Show more

This is used to balance the amount of light and dark. The dark undertone of this story can slowly
become very graphic. Such as when Hrothgar s utters the phrase, With new light would be drenched
with blood, the benches/ Stained red, the floors, all wet from that fiend s/ (480 488), this shows the
ability of the author to create images of death ,and how the once bustling and lively mead hall
becomes a nightmare. However as in most confrontation it is not based on one side of a story, but
instead it is about the combination of two main

Murillo s Representations of Seville
Bartolomé Esteban Murillo was a Spanish Baroque painter born in Seville in late December of 1617.
While many of his contemporaries would leave their native lands to seek commissions elsewhere,
Murillo stayed true to his roots and remained in Seville for most of his life, with the exception of two
short stays in Madrid: one from 1642 1645 and the other for several months in 1658. While these
excursions particularly the first played a noteworthy role in the development of his personal style,
Murillo ultimately chose to found his Academy of Painting in his hometown. Murillo was a prolific
and talented painter who acquired numerous followers as well as international recognition during his
artistic career. He is best known for his religious ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the age of fifteen, he began training in the studio of Juan del Castillo, a Venetian influenced
Sevillian painter who went on to only be recognized in history as the teacher of Murillo. In 1642,
Murillo took the money that he had earned by making crude tempera paintings called sargas and
moved to Madrid, where he studied the works of Titian, Rubens, and Van Dyck. He even had the
opportunity to study with Velázquez for a short time, though Murillo never ended up doing royal court
art. He received his first commission in 1645 from the Convent of San Francisco, and he ascended to
become one of the predominant painters of his city over the course of the 1650s. This increased
renown was fueled by a commission to create paintings for the Seville Cathedral. In 1648, Murillo
married Doña Beatriz Cabrera and went on to have three children with her. His works became high in
demand and he received many important commissions, both from churches and from individual
collectors and merchants, particularly those who had come to Spain from the Netherlands. He died in
1682 while in the process of making a cycle of paintings for a church in Cadiz. During the mid 17th
century, the period of Murillo s rise to prominence, Seville was a suffering city. The impoverished and
hungry citizens were overtaxed in order to fund the foreign wars. The inland city became less

Natural Resources and Energy Paper
Natural Resources and Energy Paper An ecosystem is a connection among living resources, residents,
and habitats of an area. It includes animals, plants, microorganisms, trees, water and people.
Everything that lives in that specific ecosystem is reliant on the other elements of that ecological
society. Oceans are considered ecosystems due to the plant life supporting the animal life and also the
animal life supporting the plant life. The earth s marine waters cover two thirds of its surface making
marine ecosystem the largest of its aquatic ecosystems. In this paper we will identify the effects that a
growing human population may have on that ecosystem s resources, including loss or harm to
populations of wild species, discuss one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Research traces the increase in damage done to the marine ecosystem back from 150 to 300 years ago
and it has only increased since then. The growth in population can also cause effects in the loss or
harm of wild species. In the early 1900 s most mammals, birds, salmon, tuna, sharks and reptiles were
depleted, and continued to decline by 1950 as the demand grew for different resources. The
International Union for Conservation has a record of ocean animals that are on the Red List . This list
has 620 species of marine animals listed on it and these animals are in danger of becoming extinct.
This should show the human population that we need to work harder to put in a greater effort in
protecting our oceans against pollution and overfishing. Strategies and techniques for marine
ecosystem conservation would be setting up protected areas, as with marine protected areas (MPAs) or
Voluntary Marine Conservation Areas. Other techniques include developing sustainable fisheries and
restoring the populations of endangered species through artificial means. Another focus of
conservationists is on curtailing human activities that are detrimental to either marine ecosystems or
species through policy, techniques such as fishing quotas, like those set up by the Northwest Atlantic
Fisheries Organization, or laws such as those listed below. Recognizing the economics involved in
human use of

How Smoking Has Changed Through The Years
How Smoking Has Changed Through the Years (5) Smoking has greatly changed through the years.
However, if one thinks about it does smoking control society in a particular way, or does society
control the view on smoking. Through time, one can discover that there are many examples that may
explain this question.
People in the 1960 s thought smoking was considered cool at the time and it was the thing to do. Many
people saw smoking as a symbol of statuses such as hard worker, or even an office worker. It showed
that one had class because you were a refined person with a good paying job (White, Cameron,Oliffe,
Bottorff). In many cases, smoking was considered beautiful for a woman to smoke in addition to their
daily beauty routine. It was also associated with a strong, hardworking, and handsome man who all the
woman try to get a date with.
Many people were misled by the cigarette companies. Who claimed that their cigarettes were easy on
the throat. The cigarette companies labeled the cigarette cartons with a picture of a man in a white lab
coat that represented a doctor. They also printed on the cartons that they asked your doctor if it was ok
to smoke, but in reality, they did not (Gardner, Martha, Brandt). This marketing scheme worked very
well to mislead people to believe that cigarettes were healthy for you. Since people see Doctors as
intelligent people and are professionals in their respective field and studied medicine for years so
people believe them undoubtedly.

Evaluation Of The Portfolio Management System
Guinn_ENVM625_M2_GradedAssign
Payback Model
As part of the portfolio management system, a selection criterion is used to determine which projects
are most in accord with the organizations mission. Selection criteria is usually either financial or non
financial. In the example provided we are considering which project will meet the needs of high
annual cash flow for the small startup company. Using the financial criteria for selection we will
employ the payback model, which allows for the direct assessment of future cash flows. This model
measures the time it will take for the recovery of the project investment (Larson Gray, 2011). The
limitations of this model are the assumed cash flow during only the investment period, the exclusion
of profitability, and the effect of the time value of money (Murphy, 2016).
Results: Project 1: 5.7 years; Project 2: 7.5 years; and Project 3: 5 years.
Based on the results, Project 3 would satisfy the high annual cash flow requirement with a shorter
payback period of 5 years.
Net present value (NPV)
Net present value uses managements minimum desired rate of return to calculate the value of all net
cash inflow (Larson Grey, 2011). A positive value is desired, and is the indication of the project
eligible for consideration. The greater the values the higher the rank in consideration. A negative value
would indicate the project is not financially viable.
Results: Using the Investopedia NPV calculator, it was determined

Synthesis Lab
Introduction: The purpose of this lab was to utilize roasting, smelting, spectroscopy, and the carbonate
test in order to determine the identity of an unknown copper mineral. I determined that the most useful
of these tests in determining the mineral was roasting because it provides a fairly accurate percent
composition of copper in the unknown mineral.
Results: The purpose of performing the variety of tests that we did was to give more accurate results
of what the unknown mineral was. By roasting the copper mineral, we obtained copper(II) oxide. This
new sample came out of the crucible grayish black. It was very brittle and full of cracks. This provided
the percent composition that was necessary in finding the unknown mineral. When performing ...

Also, I think allowing more time to let all the copper(II) oxide be smelted would have increased the
accuracy of our results.

Animal Dreams By Barbara Kingsolver By Anna Deavere Smith
Animal Dreams, by Barbara Kingsolver, which revolves around reverence for the natural
environment, and Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992, about the Los Angeles Riots of 1992, by Anna
Deavere Smith, present different sides of human behavior. Animal Dreams is a novel about Codi, a
woman who returns to her hometown and helps the townsfolk protest peacefully against a mine that
damages their water supply. The preservation of nature and the ability to make a difference by
protesting peacefully are major themes in the novel. Twilight is a play that consists of edited interview
transcripts of various people who observed and experienced the Los Angeles riots of 1992. The riots
began in response to the acquittal of a group of white police officers who were videotaped beating
Rodney King, an unarmed black man who had been driving under the influence at dangerously high
speeds. Violence escalated among the people of Los Angeles until it was declared a disaster area only
a few days later. Thousands of businesses were damaged, and dozens of people died. Twilight and
Animal Dreams have contrasting major themes when it comes to how people will act in response to
having their lives threatened. The people of Twilight and Animal Dreams have similar motives but
opposite responses. Twilight shows the brutal nature of humanity when motivated by injustice, while
Animal Dreams highlights the peaceful nature of people even when faced with powerful, oppressive
institutions.

Analysis Of Anna D Smith s Twilight
Introduction
In the month of May 1992, Anna D Smith, who was an actress and playwright, started investigating
the experiences, feelings and emotions of the Los Angeles peoples when the riots had happened. For
her play; she wanted to perform an act of one woman on the stage and also published all those human
experiences in her book. For her requirements she did interview more than 200 citizens of that country
for getting the detailed information about Riots. However, through her play Twilight she wanted to
explore the real picture of the people suffrages, police brutality, and exact problem behind the racisms,
people feelings and thoughts about the brutality. Twilight describes all the pain and sufferings of the
people who had lived during the riots period. Anna had presented clear visuals of riots including all
human emotions, causes and their sufferings including all historical facts that were playing leading
factors for it.
Emerging Factors of the Riots in Los Angeles 1992
This play had revealed clear view about class tensions and also explaining about the conflicting issues
for ethnics in between 1970 1990. Those issues were also the major responsible factors for this Brutal
Riots in Los Angeles. Well, the terrible thing right now, and I don t know the statistics, but there s a

quickly they re put into the criminal justice system. And of course the rapidly growing number

Steps And Guidelines The Partners Declan And Serena Essay
1) In order to form a partnership in Ontario there are various steps and guidelines the partners Declan
and Serena have to abide with. 1) Identity of Partners: The partners have to be 18 years or older. There
has to be a minimum of 2 partners or more to create a partnership. Each partner has to sign a
document that represents the establishment of the partnership and the interest to create the partnership.
There are different kinds of partnerships, i.e. LLP, Equity Partners, and Non Equity Partners etc. The
partners have to state the nature of their partnership for example each partners contribution to the
business, profit sharing tactics and voting entitlement of the partners. 2) Name of the Company: In
order to create a partnership a name must be established and the partnership has to undertake their
business under this name. If they decide to change the name or use a name that already exists, it will
result in the loss of goodwill, an injunction for infringement against the partnership and the respective
partners. They have to make sure the name is not copyrighted or trademarked by another existing
company. Searches for trademark can be done online too. 3) Term of Partnership: A term has to be
signed for partnership, starting from the commencing date or the date when the partnership was
signed. A term can also be interpreted as an advantage because if the company is not doing well
according to the partners agreement, when the term ends each partner will take

Father Flynn s Parables
Father Flynn s Parables Father Flynn has a talent for telling a parable. He is forcefully open to specific
events that he recently encounters. As the play opens he expresses main points in the theme using a
parable, to teach a lesson of doubt, and to not fear doubt. This sermon foreshadows the dramatic
ending to the conclusion of the play but throughout sets a tone for questioning each character and their
opinion. As Father Flynn opens his first sermon with a question that insinuates doubt, by asking What
do you do when you re not sure? (p. 1939) I believe he is also asking the congregation to open their
minds up to the fearful thoughts of someone who is isolated and doesn t know where to turn for the

immediately seized with an overwhelming sense of guilt, (p.1956) when she had a dream that the hand
of God appeared over her and pointed down on her. Immediately the woman starts to doubt that she
has been following the right path and God s word and has to ask, Is gossiping a sin? (p.1956) This is
something as Christian that anyone should know however the woman needs confirmation. Father
Flynn later states that through gossip this woman has, played fast and loose with his reputation, and
you should be heartily ashamed! Sister Aloysius could seriously ruin Father Flynn s reputation which
he recognized immediately. She had no concern for him so she did not care what she said about him
and how it could affect him and his reputation or even the truth of the matter she was trying to resolve.

The World Of The Age Of Medi Entertainment And Relevancy
Living in the Age of Media: Entertainment and Relevancy
The significant presence of electronic media has gradually become a crisis of society s
problems. Though it seems to go unnoticed by most, the obtainment of our information that we
are receiving is a mere means of entertainment thanks to the universalization of media and
television. Postman discusses the consequences of living in a technologically advanced age by
discussing four aspects of society that are most affected: the news, religion, politics, and
education. Society has shifted from words of reason and sensibility to the epitome of trivial
media content. The general overview of television is not what gives a problematic impression on
society, but it is the loss of purpose and truth within our programs that is transforming itself into
a form of show business.
Out of the four aspects of society, politics has had the most corrupted and negative effect
towards society. Politicians are unable to express intellectual knowledge on important issues and
instead of being treated as potential leaders, they are treated similarly to celebrities. For example,
take the most recent election and varied political commercials that were broadcasted. The
promotional margin of political figures is often taken as a means of self interest, voting for the
most likeable candidate. Gone are the days of understanding and voting for Republicans or
Democratic parties. Politics are devalued into forms of imagery,

Star Trek did contain racism but it was directed towards the safe target of Mr. Spock the logical,

Theme Of Human Nature In Of Mice And Men
Throughout literature, many authors give themes that reflect human nature through their characters.
Human nature in Of Mice and Men is represented in different ways through the workers on the ranch.
All of the characters have different ways of living and surviving and most of the characters only care
of themselves. Human nature is reflected in the different themes the reader sees in the novel such as
the impossibility of the American Dream, loneliness, and discrimination. The impossibility of the

What I Learned in the Course of Spiritual Life and Growth
I have learned to live my life through trial and error; I believe mistakes should be accepted without
regret. I didn t always think in this manner, I originally was a perfectionist. I strived to be the best at
everything I did and it stunted my growth in life for quite some time. After I understood the value of
my life, I realized the key was to live genuinely; to live for a purpose that was not only important to
myself, but to others as well. I was not taught morality, I had to learn it the hard way. The course,
Spiritual Life and Growth, has taught me morality to some extent. On the first week of attending
Spiritual Life and Growth, I decided to take a break from my commission based job for a few years; I
understood the consequences if I did not sell I did not earn. I began to cleanse myself, by answering
the questions, Who am I? What do I love? I was able to truly tap into myself: spiritually, and I
understood I was forced to find a new career path, because of the love I had for myself, and let go of
my prior job. My career, of the past ten years, has been extremely stressful, and is likely responsible
for my high blood pressure condition presently. I realized, I would lose business, and my current
competitors would likely collect commission checks on business I was supposed to earn. However, I
made my schooling a priority, and I accepted Autumn with open arms. In Let Your Life Speak:

The Teleological Argument for God s Existence Essay
The Teleological Argument for God s Existence
The teleological argument is also known as the argument from design. It is the idea that our world and
the universe surrounding it are so intricate that it could not happen by accident, it was designed.
William Paley put forward perhaps the most famous version of this with the watchmaker argument.
Imagine you live on a desolate desert island and one day you come across a watch. By looking at it
and examining, the intricate and complicated mechanisms you would conclude that it was designed by
an intelligent designer. A watch could not happen by chance. Lets apply that logic to things in our own
universe.

Some argue the earth could not happen by chance. The probability of the Big Bang creating a perfect
world is minuscule, 1 in a million. However, if we think of all the planets in our universes that are not
sustaining life then it does not seem so improbable.
Back to this perfect watch , its not perfect. It does not automatically adjust the time when the clocks
go forward. Instead it spitefully ticks away knowing that you will be late for work. Alternatively, does
it remember leap years? Does it give you an apology? No because it is a mean and uncaring watch.
Our world is much like this watch, its imperfect. It is rude and selfish. People are staving and we are
sitting here stuffing our faces. Our amazing hands are not so amazing after all, they wear out, muscles
and bones break. Surely, an intelligent designer would design us with out these faults.
It is not just us with these faults. Meteorites crash into planets, the sun will one day plunge us into
darkness if its heat has not dried us out and we could be sucked into a black hole.
You could say nobodies perfect , but God, by definition, is a perfect being. If God created the
universe, it would have to be perfect. David Hume believes that the universe does not have to be
created by a perfect being merely an intelligent one.
The idea that God sat down and designed then made organisms like

Aristotelianism
Aristotelianism, is happiness as the Quality of a Whole Lifetime. Aristotle claimed that happiness is
not a moment to moment experience of pleasurable things, but a way of characterizing how one s life
is being or, when it is over, has been conducted. Aristotle defines happiness as the highest, final good.
He assures us that life can be good without having everything we thought we wanted; in fact, some of
the things we think we want could be hindering us from attaining true happiness. Epicureanism is a
way of happiness as avoidance of pain. Epicureanism states that people of reason had free will and
could control their desire for pleasure, and therefore reduce the pain that always follows pleasure.
Complete happiness is a moderate amount of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

C201 Unit 3 Assignment 1
1. The cartoon is of a Mongolian man s head, with eight tentacles spreading out. Each tentacle
contains unwanted things that the illustrator thinks the Mongolians will take with them into Australia,
should there be an influx of immigrants. The head if the man is drawn in a menacing manner, with an
unfriendly scowl and two buck teeth that have a gap the size of another tooth between them. The
multiple alleged vices of the Mongolians include: cheap labour, pak ah pu (a gambling game),
immorality, small pox and typhoid, opium, bribery, fan tan (another gambling game) and customs
robbery. The fact that the man is depicted as an octopus implies that the Mongolians are thought of as
slimy, unclean and therefore subordinate and perhaps the fact that the Asians would get a hold on
Australia. 2. The aim of the cartoon is to influence Australian with biased opinions on non white
foreigners. This was partially to help convince those who disagreed with the government to in fact
support what would become the White Australia Policy and try to keep the new country European and

One tentacle surrounds an Australian woman and says, Immorality . This shows that the Australians
feared that the Asians would mistreat their women and possibly marry them. This would be an
absolute nightmare to the Australians if they stole their jobs, their country and their women! It also
shows a woman wrapped up in a tentacle that says Typhoid and Small Pox, telling that they were
worried of the diseases the Mongolians would introduce to Australia. The opium, gambling games,
bribery and customs robbery accusations demonstrate how xenophobic the Australians were at the
time. Fearing that the Mongolians would corrupt the legal and working systems, they held their racist
opinions and tried to block the foreigners

Insan Insanity Or Insanity
Insanity or Sanity I m going to focus on that the woman in the yellow wallpaper was forced to do
nothing for my argumentative. In which made her go insane maybe. I thought that this was a great
story that I could somewhat relate to, more than most that we have read for the class. Not that I m a
trapped women that is assumed to be crazy. No it s just I can symphonize with being isolated.
As is most of my life it would seem. I can relate to a lesser extent in that most nights I had a four hour
time period a day of being alone. With those four hours I had to come up with things to do, sure there
was homework but that wasn t fours worth. So most of my time I would fill up with movies and
videos games to fill my imagination. I think people do the same during their lives of trying to fill it up
with time wasters.
But if I was left with nothing but sleep I don t know how I would react, or eventually change when left
to my own devices. I probably would not change much due to being alone for short periods of time
getting used to it. Probably most people can contest to this that there is alone time and there is too
much alone time. But a so called treatment to force this I think is kind of crazy in itself.
Most our lives as human being we are forced to play the roles we are given. As we are born we are
forced into the social class, gender, race and other standing without our control. Sure that is fine but

A True Miracle Of A Miracle
This story is about a miracle. A true miracle. I was three when my paw paw Tony, my dad s dad, had a
heart attack. This heart attack should have been life ending, had it not been for my paw paw s co
worker. For 30 minutes, this co worker did CPR while waiting for an ambulance. By the time my
parents got to the hospital, my paw paw was breathing on a ventilator. They were told that there was
no hope, that he was not expected to make it even a week.
What happens next? The doctor may have said there was no hope, but my paw paw did not need hope.
He had something much greater on his side. For hours a day, my parents, relatives, friends and church
members of my paw paw s church prayed. They prayed without stopping. My girls, they are too ...

This is a wonderful opportunity to remind people if all you do is either attend the Board Meetings (the

How did that work? In reality, it only accelerated our financial problems. One thing we must keep in
mind, a 3.2 percent property tax increase does not cover a 3.2 percent budget increase.
A 3.2 percent budget increase adds more than $1.66 million in costs and a 3.2 percent property tax
increase will likely raise only roughly $1 million of additional revenue. This is because a large portion
of our revenue comes from other sources like the State and Federal governments. Property taxes are
the largest portion of our revenue, but it is significantly short the cost of the budget, So, expect to add
an additional $600K deficit to the carried over deficit from last year.

Learning Into Three Sub Categories
According to a study conducted by the Institute of Education, children who read for pleasure made
more progress in math, vocabulary and spelling between the ages of 10 and 16 than those who rarely
read ( Reading for Pleasure, 2013). Nowadays, we see children who prefer using the latest gadgets,
rather than reading a book. This is due in part to the significant advancement in technology, but the
main concern here is, how can parents keep their children away from iPad s, iPhones, and
playstations, and get them to read? Psychologically.

to read more often?
One of the earliest methods of classical conditioning for reading in children can occur during infancy.
Reading to infants contributes to the development of their growing brains and gives them a good start
towards a lifelong love of reading and good literature ( The Importance of Reading, 2015). Reading
aloud connects synapses in the infant s brain through the linking of neurons, thus greater enhancing
child development. Infants have stranger anxiety starting from nine months of age, and always feel the
need to be close to parents or caregivers. As a result, if the parents or caregivers read to their children,
the children can associate reading with a pleasant interaction from the parents.
Emerging from infancy, there are also many precautions that can be taken to get children to read in
their early years. For example, Parents can convey important positive impressions about reading by
making reading an experience their children will remember and cherish ( What Parents Can Do,
2015). Changing your tone of voice for different characters is one of the many strategies that leads
children to be more engaged. The different tones create a sensation

The Powwow At The End Of The World Essay
When a central power comes in and dominates the surrounding land and people it is referred to as

Analysis Of Raymond Carver s Cathedral
In Raymond Carver s short story, Cathedral , we meet the character who is never named, and who is
known as the narrator to us. Although the narrator s character changed towards the end, and we don t
really learn much after the change of his personality, it is still a gradual change that took place. The
narrator s attitude is very important in the story because it revolves around him and the way he views
things. This short story is about a man who is married to a woman, and this woman has been friends
with a blind man who is going to visit her at her home, after his wife has just passed away. The
narrator does not like the idea of the blind man visiting his home, and finds himself very
uncomfortable about the visit. He criticizes everything the blind man does, and does not understand
that there is more to life than just having eyesight. The narrator has a change of insight at the end of
the short story due to the blind man named Robert, who shows him there is more to life than not being
able to see. The narrator in this story is a dynamic character. In the beginning of the story we learn that
the narrator is not into the blind man visiting him in his home, as he states, I wasn t enthusiastic about
his visit. He was no one (Carver 448). The narrator shows signs of jealousy towards the blind man, as
his wife speaks of him very highly, and he is very close to his wife. He is very close minded at the

In spite of such certification by Admiral Jervis, proof can in any case be seen of the reference point

The British Army gave long haul backing to the Spanish rebelliousness in the Peninsular War of 1808
1814. Secured by geology, helped by huge Spanish guerrilla movement, and in some cases falling

The Treaty of Amiens (25 March 1802) brought about peace between the UK and France, however

The ERS predicts that between 2000 and 2020, per capita spending could rise by 18 percent at full
service restaurants, versus about 6 percent for fast food. The ERS suggests that, while consumers
value convenience, there is a trend toward meals with more variety and amenities traditionally
associated with full service restaurants.
In considering options for consumers to have full service restaurant comforts without having to shop,
cook, and then clean up after meal preparation, use of personal chef services stands out. The trend
toward spending on full service restaurants provides a growing opportunity for a full service meal
provided by a professional in the convenience of the home. According to an Entrepreneur Magazine

Medical Health And Medical Tourism
Imagine if you were in need of medical attention that you could not afford because of where you live

Would you continue to seek treatment locally or find somewhere else to receive cheaper, proper care?
Most people would want to be taken care of by a doctor who knows what he or she is doing and if it

better known as medical tourism. There are several types of medical tourism, reasons why people

such as cancer treatments, surgery, and even dental care. There are two types of medical tourism:

Parsons visited Germany under Hitler s leadership, and wrote about what he saw there. He returned
and debated endlessly, giving multiple warnings on how the German people were faring under
fascism. This perhaps played no small part in the US eventually coming to oppose Germany in the
Second World War.
Parsons wrote a scathing article entitled New Dark Age Seen If Nazis Should Win , and went on to
rally people behind his staunch opposition of Nazi Germany, and fascism, in general; speaking in
public, and appearing on the radio as well as helping to initiate the Harvard Defense Committee to
further these efforts. At one point during a public appearance, his speech was disrupted by isolation
activists, making him realize that if he was to turn the American people towards supporting a US
presence in the European war, he would have to first overcome the strong feelings many Americans
had in favor of continued isolationism. After WWII, Parsons would go on to socially oppose
Communism and all other forms of totalitarian government, and spoke frequently about what he
referred to as empirical finalism (cultural and ideological claims as to the correct end of a pattern of
value orientation), likening such forms of government to a fundamentalist stance on religion.
Parsons also espoused the ideas of American Exceptionalism, which were more than valid at the time,
as the United States was on the leading edge of science and technology, in

The Growth Of The Manufacturing And Agriculture Sectors
Increased productivity in the manufacturing and agriculture sectors has created a higher level of
disposable income in the population, which has led to increased purchases of services. As income
rises, the demand for goods tends to rise less rapidly than the demand for services; hence, the
importance of services in the economy will rise. The result has been an evolution of the economy from
one geared primarily to manufactured goods to an economy engaged in the creation of services. Thus
the growth of services has been significant. Changes in the pattern of employment will have
implications upon where and how people live, upon educational requirements, and consequently upon
the kinds of organizations that will be important to society. Industrialization created the need for
semiskilled worker who could be trained in a few weeks to perform the routine tasks attending
machines. The service economy has caused a shift to white collar occupations in health, education,
and government. For the first time in the history of industrial society, the number of white collar
workers (professionals; managers; officials; proprietors, clerical kindred, and sales workers) exceeded
the number of blue collar workers (craftsmen and foremen; operatives; and laborers) and the gap is
widening. The most interesting growth has been in the managerial and professional technical fields.
The coordination of machines and people for the production of goods was central to the industrial
society.

Machiavellian Monarchies Of The 15th Century
Machiavellian Monarchies of the 15the Century To be Machiavellian means to follow the theories of
Machiavelli on what makes an effective sovereign. These were principles such as being feared by the
people, using military to gain power and diplomacy. Additionally that virtues and vices are only a
means to an end. I agree with the statement that the 15th century kingdoms of Europe such as
England, France were Machiavellian in action. The monarch in the 15th century under Henry VII, a
Machiavellian King established the Tudor dynasty in England. He used war to take control at the end
of the War of Roses. This was very Machiavellian of him because of how Machiavelli believed that all
great states are formed from war. In a ruthless

  • 2. New Sound Equipment During The Film Industry Once the Vitaphone staked its claim in the film industry the research and application of new sound equipment began to grow rapidly. First moving to even louder speakers for the audience to enjoy the music even more. Then moving to stereo speakers having different sounds coming from different speakers. Then moving to surround sound where the audience is engulfed in music and sound effects from all around them. Finally to our current technology of IMAX sound adding even more speakers and pushing sound to the point of shaking the seats in the theaters. One of the most important contributions that the talkies provided was the technique of sound mixing. Going back to the rituals of the Sumerians and through Greek and Roman period through classical and romantic opera the instrumentalist would either have to play soft or not at all when there was singing or talking because the instruments would drown out the voices. Now with sound mixing that is not the case. They can always raise the voice and lower the instrumental music from machines instead of the singers trying to sing over the orchestra. A perfect example of this explanation was given by one of the greatest film music composers of his time Bernard Herrmann, For by separately recording music and sound and voice, we are able to mix them together at the proper volume. The speaking voice and the music can achieve a perfect balance. That is the greatest contribution of the genuine sound film . Without this invention the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Concept Of Reliability Within Measurement The concept of reliability within measurement is often debated amongst health professionals, as it is crucial to the recording of physiological improvements in active and passive range of motion (ROM). In particular, different techniques such as observation, goniometry and inclinometry are utilised in clinical settings to determine the ROM for elbow extension. It is noted that, reliable methods are fundamental for providing quantitative relationships and an understanding of musculoskeletal impairments. Often overlooked, reliability is essential for the recognition and consequently the diagnosis of abnormal elbow extension within physiotherapy. In particular, the diagnosis of impairments and diseases such as septic arthritis, ulnar nerve entrapment, (Philippou, Maridaki Bogdanis, 2003) osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis (Bucala, 2011) affect a patient s elbow extension. Thus, measurement methods during diagnosis must be accurate and reliable. In regards to patient progress, the effectiveness of treatments can be recorded quantitatively with measurement. Thus, it follows that a lack in reliability would dramatically compromise the integrity of elbow extension measurements. It is argued that all measurements must be reliable to ensure accuracy and the best possible care for patients. Considered a worldwide detriment, particularly in the elderly, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis are some of the most common reasons for seeking treatment with a musculoskeletal ... • 4. The Theory Of Liberal Ideology Political Science Midterm I will be speaking on important political terms, explain the development of liberal ideology in the United States of America, and touch on a few other areas of political culture. First off liberalism; liberalism is a way of political worldview by the ideas of liberty and equality. Although in a certain time in our history equality was somewhat of a lie. Slavery, racism, and feminism prove that not every single person on the planet had equal rights. In the 1650 s to 1780 s western Europe had people that were thinking of ways to enlighten the people and bring change to the world they all live in, called the Age of Enlightenment. Mostly philosophers emphasized reason, analysis, and individualism. People like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are liberal liberals, conservative liberals, and radical liberals. Which mostly all follow the basic structure of liberalism. For example liberal liberals believe that for social safety people need help to feed their families and take care of themselves because not everyone can make it in this world and put food in peoples mouths, afford medical insurance, civilized people try to help each other, not leave them starving and without care. On the conservative side, there views are that people should be responsible for themselves, if they are given the chance they are completely capable of supporting themselves and their families. They also believe that if government always picks up and pampers the poor or needy, they will be weak and lose their motivation to work. For money, taxes, and the part that the government plays; the conservatives believe that government should serve the people. Not the other way around. The liberals say that the proper function of a government is to solve issues, decrease poverty, protect civil rights and liberties. And to make sure that all Americans have a fair chance to succeed. The dimensions of the ideology of liberalism are political and economic liberalism. Political liberalism underlines the social contract. Where citizens can make laws and agree to follow those laws. Most people believe that individuals know what is best for them. Also it allows people to represent themselves without the need to worry ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Use Of Light And Dark Imagery In Beowulf The eternal struggle between good and evil unwavering as always. This battle has been seen throughout time and has been implemented into mass media. This revolutionary thought is used consistently. Light and dark imagery is used in stories to differentiate between good and evil. The entire premise of the story Beowulf is based upon one hero, Beowulf, attempting to eradicate evil. Whomever wrote Beowulf used light and dark imagery to create a visual representation of places and characters throughout the story. Beowulf is a long narrative that contrasts light and dark. This story contains many key words that differentiate between the two based upon the mood of the story. Some words from Hrothgar that would lean towards a more happy tone, And then, in the morning, this med hall glittering/ (480 488) the author uses this line to show that the mead hall is usually a happy and upbeat place. The phrase glittering shows that the mead hall is clean and constructed before Grendel arrives. It also shows that the mead hall was once bustling with many people gathered happily under one roof. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is used to balance the amount of light and dark. Such as when Hrothgar s utters the phrase, With new light would be drenched with blood, the benches/ Stained red, the floors, all wet from that fiend s/ (480 488), this shows the ability of the author to create images of death ,and how the once bustling and lively mead hall becomes a nightmare. • 6. Murillo s Representations of Seville Bartolomé Esteban Murillo was a Spanish Baroque painter born in Seville in late December of 1617. While many of his contemporaries would leave their native lands to seek commissions elsewhere, Murillo stayed true to his roots and remained in Seville for most of his life, with the exception of two short stays in Madrid: one from 1642 1645 and the other for several months in 1658. While these excursions particularly the first played a noteworthy role in the development of his personal style, Murillo ultimately chose to found his Academy of Painting in his hometown. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the age of fifteen, he began training in the studio of Juan del Castillo, a Venetian influenced Sevillian painter who went on to only be recognized in history as the teacher of Murillo. In 1642, Murillo took the money that he had earned by making crude tempera paintings called sargas and moved to Madrid, where he studied the works of Titian, Rubens, and Van Dyck. He even had the opportunity to study with Velázquez for a short time, though Murillo never ended up doing royal court art. He received his first commission in 1645 from the Convent of San Francisco, and he ascended to become one of the predominant painters of his city over the course of the 1650s. This increased renown was fueled by a commission to create paintings for the Seville Cathedral. In 1648, Murillo married Doña Beatriz Cabrera and went on to have three children with her. His works became high in demand and he received many important commissions, both from churches and from individual collectors and merchants, particularly those who had come to Spain from the Netherlands. He died in 1682 while in the process of making a cycle of paintings for a church in Cadiz. During the mid 17th century, the period of Murillo s rise to prominence, Seville was a suffering city. It includes animals, plants, microorganisms, trees, water and people. Everything that lives in that specific ecosystem is reliant on the other elements of that ecological society. Oceans are considered ecosystems due to the plant life supporting the animal life and also the animal life supporting the plant life. The earth s marine waters cover two thirds of its surface making marine ecosystem the largest of its aquatic ecosystems. In this paper we will identify the effects that a growing human population may have on that ecosystem s resources, including loss or harm to populations of wild species, discuss one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Research traces the increase in damage done to the marine ecosystem back from 150 to 300 years ago and it has only increased since then. The growth in population can also cause effects in the loss or harm of wild species. In the early 1900 s most mammals, birds, salmon, tuna, sharks and reptiles were depleted, and continued to decline by 1950 as the demand grew for different resources. The International Union for Conservation has a record of ocean animals that are on the Red List . This list has 620 species of marine animals listed on it and these animals are in danger of becoming extinct. This should show the human population that we need to work harder to put in a greater effort in protecting our oceans against pollution and overfishing. Strategies and techniques for marine ecosystem conservation would be setting up protected areas, as with marine protected areas (MPAs) or Voluntary Marine Conservation Areas. Other techniques include developing sustainable fisheries and restoring the populations of endangered species through artificial means. Another focus of conservationists is on curtailing human activities that are detrimental to either marine ecosystems or species through policy, techniques such as fishing quotas, like those set up by the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organization, or laws such as those listed below. • 8. How Smoking Has Changed Through The Years How Smoking Has Changed Through the Years (5) Smoking has greatly changed through the years. However, if one thinks about it does smoking control society in a particular way, or does society control the view on smoking. Through time, one can discover that there are many examples that may explain this question. People in the 1960 s thought smoking was considered cool at the time and it was the thing to do. Many people saw smoking as a symbol of statuses such as hard worker, or even an office worker. It showed that one had class because you were a refined person with a good paying job (White, Cameron,Oliffe, Bottorff). In many cases, smoking was considered beautiful for a woman to smoke in addition to their daily beauty routine. It was also associated with a strong, hardworking, and handsome man who all the woman try to get a date with. Many people were misled by the cigarette companies. Who claimed that their cigarettes were easy on the throat. The cigarette companies labeled the cigarette cartons with a picture of a man in a white lab coat that represented a doctor. They also printed on the cartons that they asked your doctor if it was ok to smoke, but in reality, they did not (Gardner, Martha, Brandt). This marketing scheme worked very well to mislead people to believe that cigarettes were healthy for you. • 9. Evaluation Of The Portfolio Management System Guinn_ENVM625_M2_GradedAssign Payback Model As part of the portfolio management system, a selection criterion is used to determine which projects are most in accord with the organizations mission. Selection criteria is usually either financial or non financial. In the example provided we are considering which project will meet the needs of high annual cash flow for the small startup company. Using the financial criteria for selection we will employ the payback model, which allows for the direct assessment of future cash flows. This model measures the time it will take for the recovery of the project investment (Larson Gray, 2011). The limitations of this model are the assumed cash flow during only the investment period, the exclusion of profitability, and the effect of the time value of money (Murphy, 2016). Results: Project 1: 5.7 years; Project 2: 7.5 years; and Project 3: 5 years. Based on the results, Project 3 would satisfy the high annual cash flow requirement with a shorter payback period of 5 years. Net present value (NPV) Net present value uses managements minimum desired rate of return to calculate the value of all net cash inflow (Larson Grey, 2011). A positive value is desired, and is the indication of the project eligible for consideration. The greater the values the higher the rank in consideration. A negative value would indicate the project is not financially viable. Results: Using the Investopedia NPV calculator, it was determined ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I determined that the most useful of these tests in determining the mineral was roasting because it provides a fairly accurate percent composition of copper in the unknown mineral. Results: The purpose of performing the variety of tests that we did was to give more accurate results of what the unknown mineral was. By roasting the copper mineral, we obtained copper(II) oxide. This new sample came out of the crucible grayish black. It was very brittle and full of cracks. This provided the percent composition that was necessary in finding the unknown mineral. Twilight is a play that consists of edited interview transcripts of various people who observed and experienced the Los Angeles riots of 1992. The riots began in response to the acquittal of a group of white police officers who were videotaped beating Rodney King, an unarmed black man who had been driving under the influence at dangerously high speeds. Violence escalated among the people of Los Angeles until it was declared a disaster area only a few days later. Thousands of businesses were damaged, and dozens of people died. Twilight and Animal Dreams have contrasting major themes when it comes to how people will act in response to having their lives threatened. The people of Twilight and Animal Dreams have similar motives but opposite responses. Twilight shows the brutal nature of humanity when motivated by injustice, while Animal Dreams highlights the peaceful nature of people even when faced with powerful, oppressive institutions. There has to be a minimum of 2 partners or more to create a partnership. As the play opens he expresses main points in the theme using a parable, to teach a lesson of doubt, and to not fear doubt. This sermon foreshadows the dramatic ending to the conclusion of the play but throughout sets a tone for questioning each character and their opinion. As Father Flynn opens his first sermon with a question that insinuates doubt, by asking What do you do when you re not sure? The World Of The Age Of Medi Entertainment And Relevancy Living in the Age of Media: Entertainment and Relevancy The significant presence of electronic media has gradually become a crisis of society s problems. Though it seems to go unnoticed by most, the obtainment of our information that we are receiving is a mere means of entertainment thanks to the universalization of media and television. Postman discusses the consequences of living in a technologically advanced age by discussing four aspects of society that are most affected: the news, religion, politics, and education. Society has shifted from words of reason and sensibility to the epitome of trivial media content. The general overview of television is not what gives a problematic impression on society, but it is the loss of purpose and truth within our programs that is transforming itself into a form of show business. Out of the four aspects of society, politics has had the most corrupted and negative effect towards society. Politicians are unable to express intellectual knowledge on important issues and instead of being treated as potential leaders, they are treated similarly to celebrities. For example, take the most recent election and varied political commercials that were broadcasted. The promotional margin of political figures is often taken as a means of self interest, voting for the most likeable candidate. I didn t always think in this manner, I originally was a perfectionist. I strived to be the best at everything I did and it stunted my growth in life for quite some time. After I understood the value of my life, I realized the key was to live genuinely; to live for a purpose that was not only important to myself, but to others as well. I was not taught morality, I had to learn it the hard way. The course, Spiritual Life and Growth, has taught me morality to some extent. On the first week of attending Spiritual Life and Growth, I decided to take a break from my commission based job for a few years; I understood the consequences if I did not sell I did not earn. I began to cleanse myself, by answering the questions, Who am I? What do I love? I was able to truly tap into myself: spiritually, and I understood I was forced to find a new career path, because of the love I had for myself, and let go of my prior job. My career, of the past ten years, has been extremely stressful, and is likely responsible for my high blood pressure condition presently. William Paley put forward perhaps the most famous version of this with the watchmaker argument. Imagine you live on a desolate desert island and one day you come across a watch. It does not automatically adjust the time when the clocks go forward. Instead it spitefully ticks away knowing that you will be late for work. Alternatively, does it remember leap years? • 33. The Powwow At The End Of The World Essay When a central power comes in and dominates the surrounding land and people it is referred to as colonization. In some cases it can lead to a positive outcome but more so than not it has a negative repercussion. In Heart of Darkness, The Powwow at the End of the World, and Heritage, both the colonizer and the colonized experience negative consequences that force them to change their views on the world. Kurtz was a centralized character in Conrad s Heart of Darkness who began his expedition as a trading post commander and ivory collector. Before they met, Kurtz was described to Marlow as an idol by the Company s chief accountant. He is a very remarkable person. Further questions elicited from him that Mr. Kurtz was at present in charge of a trading post, a very important one, in the true ivory country, at the very bottom of there. The Grand Coulee Dam and the reactors of Hanford mentioned in the poem suggests that the European technological advances disrupted the traditions of the Indian tribe. The dam may have provided energy for the Europeans but for the native Indian tribe it flooded hunting grounds and prevented the salmon, a sacred animal to the tribe, from reaching them upstream. The reactors produced many negative effects on the surrounding environment as well. When the Indian in the poem destroys the dam, the flood waters seemingly remove the evidence of imposing colonizers. The salmon is able to swim back upstream, past the flooded cities, broken dams and abandoned reactors at Hanford (Alexie 520) and meet the tribe in a special ceremony. The tribe in Alexie s poem was able to forgive and find peace with each other even after the Europeans came and destroyed their world and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As an undergraduate at Amherst College, Parsons studied sociology, philosophy and biology. He received his bachelor s degree in 1924, then moved on to studying at the London School of Economics. Later, he received his Ph.D. in sociology and economics from the University of Heidelberg in Germany. After earning his Ph.D., Parsons taught at Amherst College for one year, and then went on to be an instructor at Harvard University. At the time, a sociology department had not yet been founded at Harvard, so Parsons started off as an instructor in economics until the sociology department was created a few years later. He returned and debated endlessly, giving multiple warnings on how the German people were faring under fascism. This perhaps played no small part in the US eventually coming to oppose Germany in the Second World War. Parsons wrote a scathing article entitled New Dark Age Seen If Nazis Should Win , and went on to rally people behind his staunch opposition of Nazi Germany, and fascism, in general; speaking in public, and appearing on the radio as well as helping to initiate the Harvard Defense Committee to further these efforts. At one point during a public appearance, his speech was disrupted by isolation activists, making him realize that if he was to turn the American people towards supporting a US presence in the European war, he would have to first overcome the strong feelings many Americans had in favor of continued isolationism. After WWII, Parsons would go on to socially oppose Communism and all other forms of totalitarian government, and spoke frequently about what he referred to as empirical finalism (cultural and ideological claims as to the correct end of a pattern of value orientation), likening such forms of government to a fundamentalist stance on religion. Parsons also espoused the ideas of American Exceptionalism, which were more than valid at the time, as the United States was on the leading edge of science and technology, in ... • 41. The Growth Of The Manufacturing And Agriculture Sectors Increased productivity in the manufacturing and agriculture sectors has created a higher level of disposable income in the population, which has led to increased purchases of services. As income rises, the demand for goods tends to rise less rapidly than the demand for services; hence, the importance of services in the economy will rise. The result has been an evolution of the economy from one geared primarily to manufactured goods to an economy engaged in the creation of services. Thus the growth of services has been significant. Changes in the pattern of employment will have implications upon where and how people live, upon educational requirements, and consequently upon the kinds of organizations that will be important to society. Industrialization created the need for semiskilled worker who could be trained in a few weeks to perform the routine tasks attending machines. The service economy has caused a shift to white collar occupations in health, education, and government. For the first time in the history of industrial society, the number of white collar workers (professionals; managers; officials; proprietors, clerical kindred, and sales workers) exceeded the number of blue collar workers (craftsmen and foremen; operatives; and laborers) and the gap is widening. The most interesting growth has been in the managerial and professional technical fields. The coordination of machines and people for the production of goods was central to the industrial society. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Machiavellian Monarchies Of The 15th Century Machiavellian Monarchies of the 15the Century To be Machiavellian means to follow the theories of Machiavelli on what makes an effective sovereign. These were principles such as being feared by the people, using military to gain power and diplomacy. Additionally that virtues and vices are only a means to an end. I agree with the statement that the 15th century kingdoms of Europe such as England, France were Machiavellian in action. The monarch in the 15th century under Henry VII, a Machiavellian King established the Tudor dynasty in England. He used war to take control at the end of the War of Roses. This was very Machiavellian of him because of how Machiavelli believed that all great states are formed from war. In a ruthless ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
