The
The Rational Choice Theory Of Cesare Beccaria
The topic I have chosen to write this research paper over is the rational choice theory. The rational
choice theory started with the work of Cesare Beccaria in the late eighteenth century. From that point
forward, the theory has been developed and opened up to incorporate different viewpoints, like
discouragement and routine activity theory. The rational choice theory is a monetary rule that
expresses that people dependably settle on reasonable and legitimate choices. These choices furnish
individuals with the best advantage or fulfillment, given the decisions accessible and are likewise in
their most elevated self interest.
Rational choice theory accepts that all individuals attempt to effectively expand their preference in any
circumstance and in this way reliably attempt to minimize their misfortunes. The hypothesis depends
on the possibility that all people construct their choices in light of sound figuring s, act with
discernment when picking, and intend to increment either delight or benefit. Rational choice theory
likewise stipulates that all unpredictable social wonders are driven by individual human activities.
Accordingly, if a business analyst needs to clarify social change or the activities of social
organizations, he needs to take a look at the balanced choices of the people that make up the entirety.
The rational choice theory permits inclinations to be spoken to as genuine esteemed utility capacities.
Monetary basic leadership then turns into an issue of

Witch of Blackbird Pond Summary Essay
After her grandfather s death in 1687, 16 year old Kit feels that she must leave and sail to the only
relatives she knows of, her uncle and aunt in Wethersfield, Connecticut. She desperately travels there
on a ship called the Dolphin, where she meets a gentleman named Nat. She and Nat have a very
playful relationship, Nat always has a mocking grin on his face and Kit occasionally flirts with him on
the boat. When she arrives in Wethersfield, Connecticut, she is taken by surprise at the dull landscape
and endless fields. Kit meets her uncle, a strict and sometimes grumpy man named Matthew Wood,
her aunt, a sweet and caring woman named Rachel, her cousin Judith, a picky and vain young lady
who s otherwise kind, and her other cousin Mercy, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Soon, Kit also learns that Nat is also a friend of Hannah who keeps her company, helps her out, and
brings her souvenirs from his voyages. Matthew ends up finding out that Kit has been visiting the

Prudence, Nat visiting Hannah, the usual. Then, Judith and Mercy fall ill along with most of the other
young people of Wethersfield. An angry mob led by Prudence s parents shows up at the Wood
household and says that Hannah has been causing the fevers that struck the town. Kit was very
worried about Hannah so she pretends to go to bed, but goes to Hannah s house instead. By the time
she had gotten there, the angry mob had already arrived at Hannah s cottage. Kit quickly runs into
Hannah s house and grabs Hannah, Hannah comes but soon remembers about her kitten. She goes
back to get her kitten and Kit has no choice but to let her. Soon, Kit and Hannah make it to the
Dolphin and Hannah is safe. A few days after, another mob arrives at the Wood household demanding
that Kit is a witch because Goodwife Cruff (Prudence s mom) had found the hornbook with Kit s

who defends Kit William doesn t even show up but luckily at the last moment, Nat rushes in with

Orthodontics Questions
The Top 6 Questions To Ask Your Orthodontist Before Getting Braces When you re considering
braces for yourself or a child, it can be a difficult process, both physically and financially. You ll want
to gather as much information as you can before you begin the process. As you begin your research, it
can be hard to know exactly what questions to ask. Below, we ve compiled a few questions and some
answers to help you feel more comfortable in your decision to commit to braces for yourself or your
child. #1: What is the best age to have orthodontics done? With orthodontics, even though there is an
optimal time frame to start treatment, there is some wiggle room. If we can start in that window of
time, usually we will see the best ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Malocclusions can greatly affect the way you feel about your teeth and smile, how you chew, and your
ability to brush and floss properly. #6: Why should malocclusions be treated? While some reasons
may be more geared toward the aesthetics of a smile, treating malocclusions is very important in order
to reduce a slew of issues. When teeth are crowded or the alignment is off, the ability to brush and
floss properly is reduced. Gum disease and tooth decay are much more prevalent in people with
malocclusions than without. If you have a crossbite, your teeth may wear unevenly, and teeth that stick
out can easily break or chip. Sleep apnea can occur because of a bite pattern being off, and over time,
it can pose severe health risks to you or your child. In the end, orthodontics can do more than just
adjust a smile it can create an overall healthier you. No matter the questions you have, we would love
to assist you as you explore the options for braces. You or your child s health and self esteem can be
tremendously affected by orthodontics. If you have questions about the information in this

The House Of Bernarda Alba
Federico Garcia Lorca s The House of Bernarda Alba and Henrik Ibsen s A Doll s House both protest
against the confinement of women of their days. Although the Houses are set differently in Spain of
20th century and Norway of 19th century respectively, both the plays relate in illuminating their
respective female protagonists, Adela and Nora, as they eventually develop a sense of individuality
and self expression and emerge as free individuals from repression. The authors attempts allow the
reader audience to gain an insight into the social norms that each protagonist was pitted against. This
heightens the tension as the action develops. Both Adela and Nora are inherently individualistic, and
their innate nature is bared especially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Lorca 142) Likewise, Nora of Doll s House assumes the mask of her husband Torvald s pretty little
thing (Ibsen 22), a little squirrel (Ibsen 46), and a submissive dolly wife. (Ibsen 82) She does so
because Torvald expects her to accept that he is right in not indulging her little whims (Ibsen 21) and
expects her to see her dancing and reciting (Ibsen 22) as per his wishes he expects her to be a doll
under his control. So, she finds a way [herself] (Ibsen 21) the way of deception to follow her own
heart. The revelation of the secrets Nora and Adela keep marks the end of their deception and thus
stimulates them to stand up against repression and express their individual selves, guiding them to
seek freedom. Nora s loan and forgery are kept secret from her husband, because otherwise it would
be revealed that Nora did not submit to his orders and seek his permission before any action behaviour

Birth And Blood Cells Are Formed ( Tb ) ( Circulation )
After fertilization (in the fallopian tube), the zygote transforms into a group of cells that multiply
rapidly. Then it moves towards the uterus, develops into a blastocyst, attaches into the uterine wall and
differentiate into three layers (ectoderm, mesoderm and endoderm), that will give a beginning to all
tissues and organs. The embryo forms embryonic membranes (yolk sac, amnion, chorion and
allantois), which help to protect the embryo. The placenta begins to develop (from embryos chorion
and a part of mother s endometrium), which will transfer nutrients and oxygen from the mother to the
baby, and waste products from the baby, will produce and secrete hormones, and it will be in charge of
immunologic barrier. The placenta is connected to the foetus by the umbilical cord. Backbone,
vertebral, the central nervous system, and small protrusions (future legs and arms) develop. Heart and
blood cells are formed (circulation begins). At the end of this month, the embryo is around 6 7mm
long. During the second month, small protrusions transform into arms and legs. Fingers, toes, and eyes
develop (become apart and eyelids are fused). Fundamental blood vessels, sensory, internal organs and
digestive tract are formed. Neural tube development is well progressed and the ossification begins. By
the end of the second month, the baby, now a foetus, is about 3 cm long, weighs about 1g. During the
third month the foetus fully develops its feet, toes, arms, hands and fingers, it can

The Integration Of Emotional Intelligence Into Healthcare
The Integration of Emotional Intelligence into Healthcare Throughout today s healthcare industry,
many organizations have been constantly striving to stay ahead of the competition. One area of focus
has been improvement of the organization s leaders. In order to create a strong organizational culture
and successful healthcare system, effective leadership is needed. It is thought that one major
characteristic that aids in the effectiveness of many leaders is the ability to utilize their emotional
intelligence. This paper will discuss the development and background of emotional intelligence, its
importance and function within the nursing industry, the integration into one s own practice, as well as
the role it has played in regards to personal growth.
Development and Background The theory of emotional intelligence was first introduced in 1990 by
John Mayer and Peter Salovey. They developed various ways to measure emotional intelligence
abilities, if it improved with age, and if emotional intelligence abilities formed a unified intelligence
(Mayer, 2009). Mayer and Salovey found that if all criteria were met, than it was said to be a true
intelligence. As described by Mayer (2009), emotional intelligence can be defined as one s capability
to reason about emotions and emotional information, and of emotions to enhance thought. Those with
high emotional intelligence can accurately perceive emotions in other s faces. They also know how to
use specific emotional times within

Judaism In America
In America, people of a religious background tend to follow one of the five major religions:
Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, and Hinduism. Although, numerous people are Jewish I have
never received the privilege to encounter someone who s religion is Judaism. My question is if
Judaism is listed as one of most popular religions in America, why have I not had the fortuity to meet
a religious Jew? I ve met others whom are Christian, Catholic, Jehovah s Witness, and Muslim, so to
me Jews are a minority. I decided to engage in Sabbath so that I become more educated about Jewish
beliefs, rituals, and culture. Being that I have only attended Christian worship services I figured
participating in a Shabbat service would be a new and interesting. ... Show more content on

The lay people then passed out challah, which is the Jewish Sabbath and holiday bread, and a blessing
of the challah took place. The prayer read Blessed are you, Lord our God, King of the universe, who
brings forth bread from the earth (BBC, 2009). While we enjoyed the challah the chazzan and lay
people thanked my friend and I for joining their service and most of all being respectful of their
beliefs and rituals. Additionally, they allowed us to ask questions. This is how I was able to discover
some issues are in regard to Judaism based off of their perspective. One of the lay people explained
that the holocaust still has eternal damage on Jewish people and their culture. With Hitler invading
Nazi Germany and separating Jews from one another and others it caused a split in the religion. As
reported by Maryles, a writer for Jewish Press, Rabbi Weil declared a holocaust causes more Jews to
be lost from Judaism than the actual holocaust... the great boon to Jews in America is its biggest bane .
Meaning what s beneficial for one person is a burden to someone else. Another conflict is
intermarrying which means when people of various races or religion become connected by marriage.
Spouses following different religious paths means they have opposite beliefs which can create
afflicting ideals within the marriage. Rabbi Weil also claims, The American ideal of freedom and our
widespread acceptance is in fact the double edged sword that is both helping us and skewering us...
the freedom this country offers allows us to shed any semblance of our Judaism . An additional issue
is the religious Jewish youth. A different lay person from the Shabbat service said that the schools are
not teaching the Torah the same way it once was taught. Mentioned by Rabbi Zecharya Greenwald,
students are being told that if they do not carry themselves a certain way

The Aspects Of Happiness And Happiness
Happiness is not always easy to achieve. Life throws curve balls and it s hard to swing at all of them. I
try to stay happy all the time or I fake it. I don t want ruin other people s happiness by being upset. I
am blessed to say I have a happy life but there is plenty of ways I could increase my own happiness.
Sleeping more than I do right now would increase my happiness. Doing more for others and spreading
kindness is another way I could have a happier life. Lastly, planning events or activities beforehand
would not only make me happier but also less stressed. I would love to be happier, but I need to be
committed to make changes in my life. Sleep is a great thing and I wish I could do it more often. I ve
never been a good sleeper. My parents think it s because of my phone, but I put it up when I want to
sleep and I end up staring at the ceiling for an hour or two. According to Lemola et al. (as cited in
Boehm and Kubzansky, 2012), there was a study involving children and, .... those who were the most
optimistic slept a sufficient amount each night and took less time to fall asleep (2010). For me to sleep
more and be happier, I need to have a positive outlook on life. I always try to see the brighter side of
situations but sometimes, I find it immensely hard to be positive when other people are pessimistic. I
need to push myself and be the better person. If being more optimistic will help me sleep more, I will

Abstract
Social media is an inherent part of current Internet and used by more than a billion individuals

In the article Weight problems take a hefty toll on body and mind (n. d.), the author states that obesity
is harmful to almost any part of health, from reproductive and respiratory function to brains. It raises
the risks of several debilitating, and lethal diseases, including diabetes, heart disease, and some
cancers. From these points, it is not laborious to recognize that social media is decreasing net citizens
health levels indirectly. Social media also leads to mental problems, especially to teenagers. Teenagers
who engage with social media during the night could be damaging their sleep and increasing their risk
of anxiety and depressive illness. Teenagers talked about the pressure they felt to make themselves
available, and the resulting anxiety if they did not respond immediately to texts or posts(Udorie, J).
Not only does social media cut down health levels, but it also weakens communication skills. Ali

social media have reduced a large number of communication and interaction barriers, and now one can
convey his/her feelings and opinions over various themes. However, her opinion is not

I had just woke up and was now trying to adjust my eyes to the dim sunlight coming from outside. I
rolled out of bed still tired and walked over to my silky see through curtains. I moved them to the side
and admired the vista in front of me. From where I was standing, I could see everything. The beautiful
snow capped of Mount Rainer, the outstanding greenland s of Mount Olympus, the clear soothing
waters of Lake Sammamish and Lake Washington; and the high glass buildings of downtown
Bellevue. It was still pretty dark out but you could still see the combination of blue, red, and yellow in
the rising sky. It was so much to take in, but I loved the rush I get when watching it. This view is like
no other. It s breathtaking. Bellevue is usually not the first thing you think about when you re looking

When investing in a term deposit, the individual must invest a minimum of $5000. This sum of money
can be kept in a term deposit for as little as 1 month or as long as 5 years. A term deposit has a low
rate of risk, so the invested money is guaranteed to earn interest over a period of time. However, since
it is a fixed rate, investment returns are likely to be minimal. This negative is counterbalanced by the
absolute security of this investment contract. Returns will be comparable to those from non fixed rates
depending on the economic environment. Additionally, this investment is a suitable option for young
people as it allows them to redraw the money after the maturity date. With the expenses that typically
arise when starting a home or family, it is likely that the ability to access this fund after the investment
has ceased would provide a major financial benefit. This money cannot be accessed throughout the
investment period, ensuring that the sum cannot be spent. Interest on a term deposit is compounded
every 4 weeks, 6 months or yearly, depending on the preference of the individual. The individual must
also decide on a plan for interest returns, which can either be deposited into a personal bank account
or added to the rem deposit sum. This latter option is financially preferable, as the larger the funds in
the deposit, the greater the interest returns. 2.3 Aggressive Option Shares

The Political System of Scotland Essay example
The Political System of Scotland Unlike Wales, which was subdued by conquest in the thirteenth
century, Scotland was never permanently incorporated into the United Kingdom by force of arms. In
1603 the succession of James I to the throne of England united the crowns of England and Scotland.
However, the union was only a personal one and Scotland retained its own political and legal system
and its own church. In this essay I will explain the distinctive features of the Scottish political system,

Within the Treaty of Union the different national institutions would remain within the Scottish
political system. The Church of Scotland, which is Presbyterian, would remain as the national Church,
along with the Scottish legal system. In addition Scotland would maintain a separate education system
and a different system of local government from that obtaining in England and Wales.
The Scottish legal system is the single most important factor explaining why Scotland has been
accorded separate governmental treatment since the Act of Union. Unlike the English legal system, the
Scottish system has depended more on the principles of continental jurisprudence derived from
Roman law than on indigenous common law. Whenever a piece of legislation has been intended to
apply to Scotland as well as to England and Wales this has had to be achieved either by a separate
appendix to the measure of by a distinct Act for Scotland. In addition Scotland has a separate system
of courts and its own legal profession. The independent legal system of Scotland is one of the
strongest clues to the existence of a Scottish Political system. The Scottish people are subject to Laws
exclusive to Scotland. Scottish national institutions are strong and constitutionally protected.
The political culture of Scotland has always been strong on its emphasis on democratic organisation

The Safety Of Nascar Great Dale Earnhardt
NASCAR is one of the biggest sports in the United States. It is also one of the more dangerous sports.
Within the past 20 years alone we have lost NASCAR great Dale Earnhardt as well as fourth
generation driver Adam Petty to fatal crashes on the track just to name a few. Earnhardt s death came
as he hit the wall going at 160 miles per hour at the 2001 Daytona 500. Petty lost his life in a fatal
crash at the New Hampshire Speedway during a practice run. Petty lost control of his car crashing
head on into the turn three wall. Both of these accidents killed the drivers instantly when they collided
with the wall fracturing their skulls. From these tragedies rose many new safety features such as the
Steel and Foam Energy Reduction (SAFER) barrier and the Head and Neck Support (HANS) device.
But even with all of these safety improvements there still have been drivers injured in crashes. So
what can NASCAR do to further ensure the safety of their drivers? Actually there is a lot that
NASCAR can do and some of it is a lot simpler then what we have anticipated. After Kyle Busch
broke his leg in a wreck at Daytona in February of 2015. NASCAR talked about increasing the
amount of SAFER barrier walls on the track. Instead of having the SAFER barrier in only the corners
of the tracks NASCAR has started to talk about putting it on every wall even in the infield of the track.
Also they have considered getting rid of the grass around the track simply because when drivers are

Smallpox is caused by the variola virus an extremely contagious disease. That can be spread through
any type of contact with the virus. The virus is a member of the genus Orthopoxvirus, in the
Poxviridae family. Smallpox has been considered eradicated in the United States since 1972.
Virologists have speculated that it evolved from an African rodent poxvirus 10 millennia ago. The
name is derived from the Latin word for spotted and refers to the raised bumps on the face and body
of the patient. (Medscape.com) Smallpox has been to blame for the extinction and almost extinction of
many cultures. The disease has been used as biological warfare since the beginning or war. At times,

Given its rapid and deadly spread, conquers would place an exposed garment within enemy territory
and wait. The virus would wipe out entire civilizations in a matter of months. Smallpox spreads
rapidly throughout the lymph nodes. The infected person will remain asymptomatic through day 3 4
while the virus works its way through the spleen and bone marrow. This makes for a somewhat
anonymous attack. Infection only requires a brief encounter with an exposed person or object. The
exposer could appear to be completely healthy. Symptoms do not begin to surface until the 8 12th day
toxemia and fever are occurring. The virus then localizes in the small blood vessels of the dermis. In
the earlier years, these symptoms were often confused with other illness. It isn t until approximately
day 14, the patient is apparently infectious. The spleen, liver, kidneys, bone marrow and other viscera
will contain large amounts of the virus. Lesions on the skin start forming as the capillaries dilate and
the endothelial tissues swell. Now, even a lay person can make a visual diagnosis. The plasma cells
and macrophages can be seen. The cells increase in size, the cell membranes rupture, leading to
vesicular lesions. Migration of polymorphonuclear cells into the vesicles cause postulation. A pustule
becomes slowly desiccated causing the crusty/scabby appearance of the lesions. The progression of
the disease makes it the perfect weapon. At the point in time that the first infected person is visually
diagnosed, they have potentially infected numerous people around them. Causing the deadly virus to
almost instantly reach epidemic proportions. In the early days of Smallpox, someone or something had
to be the contaminant jeopardizing both civilizations. Today with the conveniences we have such as
air travel, running water, and complete mobilization the virus could be easily placed in our society.

What effect would adding HCl or NaOH to the liver or potato have? Clearly explain your reasoning. It
would change the pH of the liver or potato as HCl is very acidic and NaOH is very basic. Changes in
pH can denature the protein in the enzymes which could result in no reaction. For most enzymes, they
require a very specific pH, so when a solution becomes too acidic or too basic, no reaction can occur
as the enzyme will become denatured by the abrupt change in pH.
6. What effect would slightly cooling or heating the test tube have? Slightly cooling or heating the test
tube could also result in the proteins in the enzymes becoming denatured by the changes in the
temperature. Enzymes also require very specific temperatures to function properly, so if the
temperature changed too dramatically no reaction would occur. If the change in temperature was not
dramatic, it could just affect the rate of reaction, so it might slow down the reaction, but the reaction
would eventually occur.

Emergency Room Monitoring System
Clinical Tip #7
You are currently working in an office with the best equipment possible for dentistry. Your office has a
crown making machine, digital x ray machines and a brand new beautiful facility to complement a
professional environment. However, life can change rapidly and someday you may be working in a
less than ideal environment. I took an online class with a dental hygienist in San Francisco, and she
was hand dipping all of the film in her office. They did not even possess an automatic processor. It is
important to learn about film processing in a darkroom, even though it is not valid for your current
state of employment. Also, this information will be part of your testing for certification.

The level of solution should be kept to the top of the tank so the immersed film will be covered. Eight
ounces of standard fixer and developer should be replenished daily. The solutions should be changed
completely every 2 3 weeks.
The light sources should include an illuminating safelight to allow operator to see what they are doing
when processing films, but not allow for light leaks. An overhead white light is a must to shut off
during developing. It allows the operator to sufficiently clean and care for solutions and the processor.
A viewing safelight is included so that a dentist can view the film prior to fully development. An x ray
viewbox is incorporated for fully viewing the finished products, and an outside warning light to let
other operators know someone is already in the darkroom developing film. (However, never count on
someone looking at the light; always lock the door.)
Record keeping must include supply inventory and film identifications. The date of the next scheduled
solution change should be posted in a prominent space. The patient s name, chart number, number of
films, and hanger number, and the date taken should be recorded.
Due to operator error or poor processing technique, sometimes a film does not turn out as

mentally ill. Other people feel that eugenics is what will in plain terms, make the world a better place.
Its been said that using a eugenics program will rid people of future diseases, and other illnesses. That
is why many think that using this procedure is good for all, but in fact it comes along with many
hidden deformities and abnormalities. Some people believe that improving genetic control is a
commendable idea, but others think that it seems a little immoral to try to change something, that in
the long run is better left alone.
This is where the arguments against eugenics programs come in. Government power over private
citizen s lives does not usually go over well. US state run programs have had problems with some
sterilization s that were not for good eugenic reasons.(Reilly, S.)Women were being sterilized so they
were not able to conceive.
Government programs have made mistakes and have suffered from some corruption. It has not always
been known to which traits were genetically influenced. Some people feel that there have been some
sterilization s done that have not contributed to improving genetic stock. There is still no knowledge
of which genes influence particular traits. A concern that has crossed many minds is that many traits
may be influenced by pleitropic genes. Which means that selecting a beneficial trait could also

Unhealthy Accounting at HealthSouth Essay
1. What are several red flags that E Y either was or should have been aware of in the audit of
HealthSouth?
Overall, there were three red flags E Y was not aware of during the audit. First, they neglected the
500% net income increase from 1999 2001. This should have raised awareness because revenues only
increased by 5% during that same period. Second, the internal auditors were denied access to some of
the corporate ledgers. E Y should have seen this as being one of the largest red flags. Third, the audit
team failed to properly investigate employee complaints.
2. What procedures can auditors perform to detect fraudulent entries made during the consolidation
process?

4. What is the appropriate response by auditors to information from disgruntled employees?
Depending on the severity of the fraud, the appropriate response can be different from firm to firm. A
good way to detect fraud would be to listen to information provided by a disgruntled employee. This
holds true unless the employee was disgruntled before the fraud occurred. The information will
probably be false and misleading because the employee has held animosity for a while. Regardless,
you should take the information seriously when it is first presented to you.
5. HealthSouth has sued E Y, and E Y is the target of a federal securities class action suit. What are E
Y s likely defenses against HealthSouth? Against the class action suit?
One of the main defenses E Y took during the early stages of the HealthSouth suit was the fact that the
SEC had no well defined rules with regards to audit related practices. Another defense was the mere
fact that E Y never faced a criminal indictment for the HealthSouth fraud. This was mainly due to the
statute of limitations placed on securities fraud. It sets it at the earlier of (a) 2 years after the discovery
of the facts constituting the violation or (2) 5 years after such violation. Thus, the DOJ was unable to
file criminal charges against the firm because the partner on the audit (G. Marcus Neas) was unaware
of the fraud in 1993.

Michael Jackson Tragic Hero Essay
Michael Jackson as a Tragic Hero Tragic heroes are pretty common characters throughout numerous
fiction novels, but they do, in fact, exist in real life. Take Michael Jackson, for instance. He can be
considered an example of a modern day tragic hero. Respect, talent, fame, this king of pop had it all.
He was very well liked, and was a role model for many. His career even kicked off at such a young
age when he and his brothers started their own band, The Jackson 5. These boys made an astonishing
effort to travel to various Children s Hospitals just to try to bring joy to the lives of very sick children.
Michael Jackson continued to prove very successful, even on his own. Throughout his career, he was a
constant supporter of many different charities, such as the Make A Wish Foundation, the Ronald
McDonald House, and the American Cancer Society, just to name a few. He proceeded to take part in
giving back to the community by donating to charity, even as he aged. ... Show more content on

Sadly, he also appeared to be fighting this battle alone, for the most part. As a child, he was a victim of
abuse, from his own father, for his facial features as well as the color of his skin. He struggled with
feelings of worthlessness, and eventually, he went and had numerous cosmetic surgeries done in order
to enhance his looks and increase his self esteem. Since he constantly struggled with self image issues,
he turned to drugs, specifically painkillers, in hopes that it would take his pain away. He also
purchased a ranch, naming it Neverland after Peter Pan, in an attempt to bring his past back to life.
This ended tragically, with claims of sexual assault against children being brought against him, thus
contributing to the downfall of his music career. These tragic flaws and his dependence on narcotics,
ultimately led to the pop star s tragic death, which stunned the entire

Budget Cuts And Its Effects On Society
Imagine world that is bland, along with its individuals all the selfsame. In result of the reprehension of
creative courses in academia. That previously mentioned world would soon become an actuality.
When budget cuts were accruing in my school district; I remembered my fine arts teachers were
petrified that not only their department would cease to exist but they would no longer have an
occupation. There is a constant reminder of how paramount the sciences and mathematics are; but the
fine arts such as music, ceramics, art, and all the other courses that allow creative freedom are
important as well.
As in consequence of our troubling economy, budget cuts were inevitable. In the year 2008, more than
eighty percent of schools nationwide had received budget cuts. Music and theater classes were cut to
the full extent along with some art programs. Within the late 90s and early 2000s schools had theatre
and dance classes available, ranging in the twenty percentile. Currently, that percent has dropped
drastically to two percent. These are just brief statistics on the outcome of budget cuts and how
quickly the outcome is the demise of the fine arts in schools nationwide.
A student who does not enjoy the fundamental classes might not find interest in going to school. The
innovated minds that find tranquility in a music class or rather a basic art class is more likely to look
forward to attending school the next day. Fine arts enhance the mind. It enhances what is already there

Canadian Identity Analysis
To show Canadian identity from my point of view, I decided to draw a map of Canada. As a high
school student who is engrossed deeply in physical geography, economics and investing, I decided to
focus on natural resources, industries, and recreation development. The way I view Canadian Identity
is largely founded on the economics of each province allowing millions of employees and provinces to
be wealthy.
The cornerstone of Canada s economy is the export of the natural resources. One of the provinces in
Canada I am in love with is a prairie province, Saskatchewan. Agriculture and mining extensively
dominate the provincial economy, and it is the largest exporter of potash and uranium in the world,
making Saskatchewan one of the highest GDP leaders.

Special Education Requires a Lot of Education, Time and...
What if students with special needs had to sit in a classroom and try to learn like a normal student?
The success of students would not be existent without special needs teachers. Special education
teachers help students with disabilities fit in as best as they can by teaching them to do everyday
things. These tasks can include brushing their teeth, going to the bathroom, and feeding themselves.
Special education teachers put in a lot of work to create the best lifestyle for the students that they
teach. Fourteen percent of the kids in the United States have special needs. Those fourteen percent
need teachers to help them. Special Education requires a lot of education, daily work, tools,
technology, and testing, but it is a very rewarding job. Special education can be a very confusing field
and varies with the location and circumstances. Very few special education teachers work with
students with severe disabilities ( Teachers Special Education 2). The majority of employees in the
special education field work with mild to moderate disabilities (2). Most special education teachers
work with students one on one in a normal classroom environment (2). There are a few teachers that
work with their students in separate rooms aside from the student s normal classroom (3). There are
very few special education teachers that work in residential places, at home, or in a hospital (2). There
are some teachers that work with a baby at home (2). A special education teacher needs to

The Star-Spangled Banner
Once the audience was seated, a soprano would come forward and sing The Star Spangled Banner
(Miller 297). This is a line describing a public execution from Get it Right: Privatize Executions by
Arthur Miller. In his Article, Miller paints a rather disturbing picture for the audience. Miller describes
a hypothetical public execution whereas the audience would consume the event similar to how we
would a sporting event. The Author pieces together a very exaggerated representation of a public
execution describing the spectacle taking place in Shea Stadium, opening with the Star Spangled

Role of Natural Selection and Chance in the Survival of...
Natural Selection and Chance in the Survival of Emperor Penguins
Emperor penguins are majestic creatures; their life cycle portrayed in the film March of the Penguins
shows a lifecycle fraught with dangers, including exposure to extreme environmental conditions and
aggressive predators. Despite the challenges, the breed has survived. It may be argued that survival is
the result of natural selection and the adaptations which have developed, but it is also argued luck
plays a role.
Natural selection occurs when genotypic characteristics which provide better adaption to the
environment, increasing survival chances, reproduce and become increasing frequent within a
population, perpetuating the beneficial characteristics (Beatty, 1984). Chance is luck, or simply being
at the right, (or the wrong), place at the right, (or the wrong), time. Both appear to influence the life of
the penguins.
March of the Penguins starts with the journey to their mating ground across the ice in Antarctica,
starting with a walk of 70 miles. Natural selection starts at this point; many penguins die during the
journey across the ice; only those who survive the journey reproduce. Penguins are not unique,
returning through dangers to specific mating grounds. Other examples include salmon and eels,
showing a general pattern of natural selection.
During mating, penguins choose a single mate each season. Why mates are chosen is unknown, but as
females fight over the males, there may be preferred

Incurable Disease Research Paper
Millions of people suffer daily from incurable diseases. The reality for a person affected by an
incurable disease is that from the moment they are diagnosed and even before that back to the moment
they experienced their first symptom, they will have their disease. While these diseases do not have a
cure, treatments do exist to manage the symptoms. Often, the prescription drugs available to sufferers
of these painful, sometimes life threatening ailments are expensive and carry side effects of their own.
A remedy used for treatment of many of these symptoms and side effects, historically dating back to

The first and possibly most important fact to which many people are uneducated is the idea that users
of medical cannabis are getting stoned, but the reality is that scientists are capable of modifying strains
of cannabis used medically to contain low amounts of the intoxicant, tetrahydrocannabiniol, more
commonly known as THC, and higher amounts of cannabidiol (Coulter and Jenewein). In most cases
medical cannabis is not ingested as an inhalant but instead as an orally administered oil. Another
common argument against cannabis is damage caused to the hippocampus which can cause short and
long term memory impairment, very real side effects that should be considered and monitored for
carefully, but studies have discovered the potential to combat these issues with the use of non steroidal
anti inflammatory drugs, such as ibuprofen (Welberg). While there is still much to learn about the use
of cannabis medically, it should be remembered that there is still much to learn about many medical
treatments and options but unlike cannabis, other treatments do not have an accompanying stereotype

theme is education, where the provision of learning and understanding occurs outside the typical

lady is so supportive of education that she offers to give the children a practical lesson, contrary to
their specifications. Summer season is known for holidays, which is not the case for the group of

The protagonist was so motivated to teach the children such that she accompanied the students even
when school was out of session. Sylvia is the antagonist in this story, owing to the way in which the
youngster differentiated her values from Ms. Moore s. Sylvia used her interaction skills to sway the
group s attention away from the teacher, particularly at the endof the story when she slipped out of the
group in search of chocolate (Bambara 6). To add salt to injury, Sylvia wasted no time in returning the
lion s share of Ms. Moore s money, seeing the opportunity to buy chocolates and other confectionary.
The exposition of the story lies in the rising wave of inequality, especially among African American
communities. The rising action in the story is when the children get busy ogling at the expensive toys
on display, which builds the tension associated with poverty. Alternatively, the story s climax is when
thestudents realize the moral of the lesson, which is economic inequality within urbanareas. The
falling action occurs when Sylvia and Sugar tear away from the group in search of the ill gained
confectionary. The denouement of the story is when the children realize the value of money and its
impact on society. Such a scene is present when the children began thinking of different ways the

Summary Of Salinger s The Rye
The Theme of Innocence in Salinger s Novel In today s world innocence is a difficult quality to
achieve and maintain because of the corruption that exists everywhere among us. Many say that
children are the most innocent of beings. However, a child can never be shielded by the danger and
risk that constantly encompasses them in our society today. Children are subjected to this world and
once they are exposed to the corruption it is difficult to maintain the innocence that they once
embodied. In J.D. Salinger s Catcher in the Rye there is an evident need and desire to preserve a sense
of innocence among the characters in a world that lacks innocence. Holden Caulfield, the main

A Family Vacation
Robbie always dreaded family vacations not because he didn t like spending time with his family but
rather the chaos of it all. His older sister Tina barely talks to him because she is too focused on her
new boyfriend Brad. His parents Dave and Betty spend most of their time worrying about their jobs.
One morning at 8am, Robbie s mom walks in his room completely ignoring that fact that Robbie didn
t go to bed until 5am, turns on the lights excitedly saying
Guess what Robbie tickets are booked, we are going to Disneyland for our family vacation this year .
Mom ! Robbie angrily yelled as he was awoken abruptly with no time to process what his mom had

Robbie, we are going to Disneyland ! Didn t you hear me ? At this point in time Robbie jumps out a
bed only to trip over his pile of dirty clothes he forgot to wash yesterday. Disneyland?! That s sounds
fun but as a family vacation heck no! , I rather go with some friends .
Well sweetie that was very rude of you to say, I know your sister is probably very thrilled to be going
on this family vacation.
Oh, yeah I bet so whenever she s not hanging out with that loser boyfriend of hers .
Excuse me Betty said offended that Robbie would ever describe her sister s boyfriend in that kind of

You know it s true Mom she could do so much better Robbie says as he frantically looks for his

Well some things you should just keep to yourself Betty yells as she exits Robbie s room to go tell her

to go to the beach.
From this point on Robbie could only make a list of things that would go wrong on this family

and we ended the trip early .
Before that, I got food poisoning, Tina was just in a bad mood and my parents decided to cancel the

John P. Kotter s Leading Change
In the first chapter Leading Change by John P. Kotter brought out the fact that all companies (large
and small) go through changes. Some are to remain competitive others are to keep up with the
changing marketing tactics. These efforts have gone under many banners: total quality management,
reengineering, rightsizing, restructuring, culturing, change, and turnaround (Review, 2011, p. 1). Now
to add another name, my company calls it PEx (production excellence. It is really not looked at as a

In this chapter step 1 of the 8 steps of transforming your organization is creating a sense of urgency. It
stands to reason that error 1 of 8 is the opposite or not a great enough sense of urgency. One of the

Riggs V. Palmer Case Analysis
After Francis B. Palmer murder, the main question that was posed by the court is should a murderer
inherit ? There was a disagreement between the judges on how the statute of wills should be applied
and interpreted. As a result, Judge Gray made some surprisingly strong arguments that the court is
bound by the rigid rules of law , therefore, Elmer should not be denied his inheritance. Unlike the
dissenting judge, Judge Earl claims that no one should take advantage of his own unlawful actions.
Due to these different perspectives, I will first analyse both judge s decision. Secondly, I will make a
claim that Judge Earl s decision was inconsistent and invalidates the written statutory law, therefore,
the dissenting judges make a stronger argument. Finally, I will use the Legal Positivism Theory to

Palmer case, the court sided with the majority judges on the notion that Elmer should not benefit from
his crime. Considering that this maxim was not law, the court s decision was solely based on moral
judgement. Even though there was a binding will that granted Elmer the property, the majority
believed that the legislators who created the statute of wills did not intend to allow a murderer to
inherit under the will. Judge Earl continued to infer that if the case existed at the time of the creation
of statutory wills, necessary steps would have been taken to prevent this issue. His argument was
based on the fact that Elmer s intention was to commit murder to receive the property, therefore, to
give him this benefit would be unfair to the testator and his

Corruption In The Film Mr. Smith Goes To Washington
Corruption in the United States government takes the power away from the people and puts it into the

Mr. Smith is surrounded by corruption, he is able to fight the system and bring some integrity back to

  • 2. The Rational Choice Theory Of Cesare Beccaria The topic I have chosen to write this research paper over is the rational choice theory. The rational choice theory started with the work of Cesare Beccaria in the late eighteenth century. From that point forward, the theory has been developed and opened up to incorporate different viewpoints, like discouragement and routine activity theory. The rational choice theory is a monetary rule that expresses that people dependably settle on reasonable and legitimate choices. These choices furnish individuals with the best advantage or fulfillment, given the decisions accessible and are likewise in their most elevated self interest. Rational choice theory accepts that all individuals attempt to effectively expand their preference in any circumstance and in this way reliably attempt to minimize their misfortunes. The hypothesis depends on the possibility that all people construct their choices in light of sound figuring s, act with discernment when picking, and intend to increment either delight or benefit. Rational choice theory likewise stipulates that all unpredictable social wonders are driven by individual human activities. Accordingly, if a business analyst needs to clarify social change or the activities of social organizations, he needs to take a look at the balanced choices of the people that make up the entirety. The rational choice theory permits inclinations to be spoken to as genuine esteemed utility capacities. Monetary basic leadership then turns into an issue of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The House Of Bernarda Alba Federico Garcia Lorca s The House of Bernarda Alba and Henrik Ibsen s A Doll s House both protest against the confinement of women of their days. Although the Houses are set differently in Spain of 20th century and Norway of 19th century respectively, both the plays relate in illuminating their respective female protagonists, Adela and Nora, as they eventually develop a sense of individuality and self expression and emerge as free individuals from repression. Then it moves towards the uterus, develops into a blastocyst, attaches into the uterine wall and differentiate into three layers (ectoderm, mesoderm and endoderm), that will give a beginning to all tissues and organs. The embryo forms embryonic membranes (yolk sac, amnion, chorion and allantois), which help to protect the embryo. The placenta begins to develop (from embryos chorion and a part of mother s endometrium), which will transfer nutrients and oxygen from the mother to the baby, and waste products from the baby, will produce and secrete hormones, and it will be in charge of immunologic barrier. The Integration Of Emotional Intelligence Into Healthcare The Integration of Emotional Intelligence into Healthcare Throughout today s healthcare industry, many organizations have been constantly striving to stay ahead of the competition. • 8. Judaism In America In America, people of a religious background tend to follow one of the five major religions: Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, and Hinduism. Although, numerous people are Jewish I have never received the privilege to encounter someone who s religion is Judaism. My question is if Judaism is listed as one of most popular religions in America, why have I not had the fortuity to meet a religious Jew? I ve met others whom are Christian, Catholic, Jehovah s Witness, and Muslim, so to me Jews are a minority. I decided to engage in Sabbath so that I become more educated about Jewish beliefs, rituals, and culture. Being that I have only attended Christian worship services I figured participating in a Shabbat service would be a new and interesting. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The lay people then passed out challah, which is the Jewish Sabbath and holiday bread, and a blessing of the challah took place. The prayer read Blessed are you, Lord our God, King of the universe, who brings forth bread from the earth (BBC, 2009). While we enjoyed the challah the chazzan and lay people thanked my friend and I for joining their service and most of all being respectful of their beliefs and rituals. Additionally, they allowed us to ask questions. This is how I was able to discover some issues are in regard to Judaism based off of their perspective. One of the lay people explained that the holocaust still has eternal damage on Jewish people and their culture. With Hitler invading Nazi Germany and separating Jews from one another and others it caused a split in the religion. As reported by Maryles, a writer for Jewish Press, Rabbi Weil declared a holocaust causes more Jews to be lost from Judaism than the actual holocaust... the great boon to Jews in America is its biggest bane . Meaning what s beneficial for one person is a burden to someone else. Another conflict is intermarrying which means when people of various races or religion become connected by marriage. Spouses following different religious paths means they have opposite beliefs which can create afflicting ideals within the marriage. Rabbi Weil also claims, The American ideal of freedom and our widespread acceptance is in fact the double edged sword that is both helping us and skewering us... the freedom this country offers allows us to shed any semblance of our Judaism . An additional issue is the religious Jewish youth. A different lay person from the Shabbat service said that the schools are not teaching the Torah the same way it once was taught. Mentioned by Rabbi Zecharya Greenwald, students are being told that if they do not carry themselves a certain way ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I don t want ruin other people s happiness by being upset. I am blessed to say I have a happy life but there is plenty of ways I could increase my own happiness. Lastly, planning events or activities beforehand would not only make me happier but also less stressed. I would love to be happier, but I need to be committed to make changes in my life. Sleep is a great thing and I wish I could do it more often. I ve never been a good sleeper. My parents think it s because of my phone, but I put it up when I want to sleep and I end up staring at the ceiling for an hour or two. According to Lemola et al. I rolled out of bed still tired and walked over to my silky see through curtains. I moved them to the side and admired the vista in front of me. From where I was standing, I could see everything. The beautiful snow capped of Mount Rainer, the outstanding greenland s of Mount Olympus, the clear soothing waters of Lake Sammamish and Lake Washington; and the high glass buildings of downtown Bellevue. It was still pretty dark out but you could still see the combination of blue, red, and yellow in the rising sky. It was so much to take in, but I loved the rush I get when watching it. When investing in a term deposit, the individual must invest a minimum of $5000. This sum of money can be kept in a term deposit for as little as 1 month or as long as 5 years. A term deposit has a low rate of risk, so the invested money is guaranteed to earn interest over a period of time. However, since it is a fixed rate, investment returns are likely to be minimal. This negative is counterbalanced by the absolute security of this investment contract. Returns will be comparable to those from non fixed rates depending on the economic environment. Additionally, this investment is a suitable option for young people as it allows them to redraw the money after the maturity date. With the expenses that typically arise when starting a home or family, it is likely that the ability to access this fund after the investment has ceased would provide a major financial benefit. This money cannot be accessed throughout the investment period, ensuring that the sum cannot be spent. Interest on a term deposit is compounded every 4 weeks, 6 months or yearly, depending on the preference of the individual. The Political System of Scotland Essay example The Political System of Scotland Unlike Wales, which was subdued by conquest in the thirteenth century, Scotland was never permanently incorporated into the United Kingdom by force of arms. In 1603 the succession of James I to the throne of England united the crowns of England and Scotland. However, the union was only a personal one and Scotland retained its own political and legal system and its own church. Within the Treaty of Union the different national institutions would remain within the Scottish political system. The Church of Scotland, which is Presbyterian, would remain as the national Church, along with the Scottish legal system. In addition Scotland would maintain a separate education system and a different system of local government from that obtaining in England and Wales. The Scottish legal system is the single most important factor explaining why Scotland has been accorded separate governmental treatment since the Act of Union. Unlike the English legal system, the Scottish system has depended more on the principles of continental jurisprudence derived from Roman law than on indigenous common law. Whenever a piece of legislation has been intended to apply to Scotland as well as to England and Wales this has had to be achieved either by a separate appendix to the measure of by a distinct Act for Scotland. In addition Scotland has a separate system of courts and its own legal profession. Within the past 20 years alone we have lost NASCAR great Dale Earnhardt as well as fourth generation driver Adam Petty to fatal crashes on the track just to name a few. Earnhardt s death came as he hit the wall going at 160 miles per hour at the 2001 Daytona 500. Petty lost his life in a fatal crash at the New Hampshire Speedway during a practice run. Petty lost control of his car crashing head on into the turn three wall. Both of these accidents killed the drivers instantly when they collided with the wall fracturing their skulls. From these tragedies rose many new safety features such as the Steel and Foam Energy Reduction (SAFER) barrier and the Head and Neck Support (HANS) device. But even with all of these safety improvements there still have been drivers injured in crashes. So what can NASCAR do to further ensure the safety of their drivers? Actually there is a lot that NASCAR can do and some of it is a lot simpler then what we have anticipated. After Kyle Busch broke his leg in a wreck at Daytona in February of 2015. NASCAR talked about increasing the amount of SAFER barrier walls on the track. Instead of having the SAFER barrier in only the corners of the tracks NASCAR has started to talk about putting it on every wall even in the infield of the track. It would change the pH of the liver or potato as HCl is very acidic and NaOH is very basic. Changes in pH can denature the protein in the enzymes which could result in no reaction. For most enzymes, they require a very specific pH, so when a solution becomes too acidic or too basic, no reaction can occur as the enzyme will become denatured by the abrupt change in pH. 6. One of the main defenses E Y took during the early stages of the HealthSouth suit was the fact that the SEC had no well defined rules with regards to audit related practices. Another defense was the mere fact that E Y never faced a criminal indictment for the HealthSouth fraud. This was mainly due to the statute of limitations placed on securities fraud. Natural Selection and Chance in the Survival of Emperor Penguins Emperor penguins are majestic creatures; their life cycle portrayed in the film March of the Penguins shows a lifecycle fraught with dangers, including exposure to extreme environmental conditions and aggressive predators. Despite the challenges, the breed has survived. It may be argued that survival is the result of natural selection and the adaptations which have developed, but it is also argued luck plays a role. Natural selection occurs when genotypic characteristics which provide better adaption to the environment, increasing survival chances, reproduce and become increasing frequent within a population, perpetuating the beneficial characteristics (Beatty, 1984). Chance is luck, or simply being at the right, (or the wrong), place at the right, (or the wrong), time. Both appear to influence the life of the penguins. March of the Penguins starts with the journey to their mating ground across the ice in Antarctica, starting with a walk of 70 miles. Natural selection starts at this point; many penguins die during the journey across the ice; only those who survive the journey reproduce. • 33. John P. Kotter s Leading Change In the first chapter Leading Change by John P. Kotter brought out the fact that all companies (large and small) go through changes. Some are to remain competitive others are to keep up with the changing marketing tactics. These efforts have gone under many banners: total quality management, reengineering, rightsizing, restructuring, culturing, change, and turnaround (Review, 2011, p. 1). Now to add another name, my company calls it PEx (production excellence. It is really not looked at as a good thing. We have a separate PEx group. When a manager has a process that they want to change (or update) they call the PEx team. After many (many many) meetings with core people changes are made. • 34. Riggs V. Palmer Case Analysis After Francis B. Palmer murder, the main question that was posed by the court is should a murderer inherit ? There was a disagreement between the judges on how the statute of wills should be applied and interpreted. As a result, Judge Gray made some surprisingly strong arguments that the court is bound by the rigid rules of law , therefore, Elmer should not be denied his inheritance. Unlike the dissenting judge, Judge Earl claims that no one should take advantage of his own unlawful actions. Due to these different perspectives, I will first analyse both judge s decision. Secondly, I will make a claim that Judge Earl s decision was inconsistent and invalidates the written statutory law, therefore, the dissenting judges make a stronger argument. Finally, I will use the Legal Positivism Theory to challenge Judge Earl s Natural Law Theory to support my position. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Palmer case, the court sided with the majority judges on the notion that Elmer should not benefit from his crime. Considering that this maxim was not law, the court s decision was solely based on moral judgement. Even though there was a binding will that granted Elmer the property, the majority believed that the legislators who created the statute of wills did not intend to allow a murderer to inherit under the will. Judge Earl continued to infer that if the case existed at the time of the creation of statutory wills, necessary steps would have been taken to prevent this issue. His argument was based on the fact that Elmer s intention was to commit murder to receive the property, therefore, to give him this benefit would be unfair to the testator and his ...
