Gary Ridgway Theory
For instance, the case of the Green River Killer (Hickey, 2010:24) may offer another possible
explanation for what caused Jack the Ripper to become a serial killer. Gary Ridgway is America s
most notorious serial killer (Hickey, 2010), he holds the record for the most serial murder convictions
in the history of the United States (Hickey, 2010:24). Ridgway is responsible for the deaths of 48
women (Hickey, 2010). Like Jack the Ripper, Ridgway selected prostitutes as his intended victims
(Paley, 1995). The social learning theory may offer an explanation for why Ridgway, and the Ripper,
may have become serial killers. The social learning theory suggests that behaviours are learnt by
observing the behaviour of others (Jones, 1998:355), therefore if a person witnesses aggressive
attitudes, this may increase the chances of that person acting in the same negative manner (Choon
Chan, 2012:52). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The experiment found that the children, who were exposed to adults acting aggressively towards a
doll, were largely inclined to also behave violently towards the doll, compared to those who were not
exposed to adult violence (Demers,2011). According to Bandura, children learn behaviour by
repeating what they see adults do (Conradie and Golding, 2013). Ridgway himself grew up in a
dysfunctional home environment, where he witnessed and was subjected to both physical and
emotional abuse from his mother (Hickey, 2010:24). According to the social learning theory, as
Ridgway had observed faulty behaviour (Weatherby, 2009:5) exhibited by his mother, he himself
would be more likely to demonstrate the same sort of violent behaviour. Additionally, the social
learning theory may also give us an insight into why Ridgway targeted prostitutes, perhaps prostitutes
were his objects of hate because they symbolized his

Firewalls will be placed between the web servers and the outer edge of the network, facing the
Internet. Such a configuration, called a demilitarized zone (DMZ), will provide an additional layer of
defense from a network breach. If the web servers are compromised, there will be an additional barrier
between them and the intranet. The firewalls will be configured to deny everything, and then the ports
that are needed for the functioning of the network will be allowed. For the sake of expense and
administrative simplicity, the firewall will be a stateful packet filter firewall, as opposed to an
application proxy firewall, which would offer higher security and configurability at the expense of
administrative complexity due to the need for a proxy for each application in use by the company. The
packet filtering firewall filters traffic based on predefined rules. A network based IDS will be used on
all network subnets and the system will be anomaly based. An anomaly based IDS is preferable for its
ability to detect zero day attacks. With a signature based IDS, the system uses a set of definitions to
detect threats and the definitions must be updated on a regular and ongoing schedule. The system will
be passive in its functioning, in that it will not stop threats that it detects. Rather the IDS will send
notifications to the IT staff that are tasked with the security of the network. The IT staff will then

Anger In Poison By Roald Dahl
Anger is an extremely volatile, hateful emotion. The emotion is understood to happen from time to
time unconditionally, and it occurs in the best of people. However, some anger is uncalled for and
extremely rude. In Roald Dahl s short story, Poison, one of the main characters, Harry, exhibits
extreme anger for the following reasons: he had a severe superiority complex, he was under extreme
stress, and he was taken aback by the doctor s sarcasm. Harry felt he was vastly superior to the doctor,
and that resulted in his outburst. First this story set in India, much of the population were Hindus, and
they were looked down upon by Christians. Harry was a Christian and he believed he was superior to
his Hindu doctor. Despite this clear

Enchiladas Research Paper
Anytime I m preparing a meal I check my kitchen to make sure I have everything I need. To make
beef enchiladas I will need, beef, enchilada sauce, corn tortillas, shredded cheese, cubed cheese, green
chile, 2 cans of mexican style tomatoes, onions, bell peppers, jalapenos, not to mention rice and beans
for our sides. First, I chop up the onions, bell peppers and jalapenos. When that is finished I take out
the skillet and turn the heat on high. Put all the chopped vegetables in the skillet, add beef, and let it
cook until the beef has browned. Once the meat is done, I pour a can of mexican style tomatoes and
green chile in, turn down the heat and let simmer.
Next, I take out three pots for the enchilada sauce, charro beans, and mexican rice. In one of the pots I
m going to pour in the rice in, add butter, set the heat and stir until all the butter is almost melted then
add 2 cups of water and let boil for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. In the other pot I can put the
charro beans in and let cook on low heat. While those are cooking I m going to heat up the enchilada
sauce in the small pot to start dipping the corn tortillas in. After that I roll them up with beef and 2 1/2
cubes of cheese in each tortilla then place them in a cassarole dish. I can fit about 16 in one dish.
When I m done rolling all the tortillas I get a bag of shredded cheese and smother it all on top of the
tortillas. Then I put the dish in the oven on 350 for about 15 to 20 minutes. Now I go back to my rice
and pour in the other can of mexican style tomatoes in while stirring it all together. Let simmer for
five more minutes until I remove it from the heat to let cool off. ... Show more content on

A Cold War
A cold war has broken recently between the government and the Supreme Court in Nepal. One or the
other side may win this war, but the constitution, the due process of law and the Nepali people will be
the ultimate losers in it. It is important to put the case in perspective to cut out the misinformation
about it. The government promoted Deputy Inspector General Jaya Bahadur Chand as inspector
general of police. His competitor Nawaraj Silwal went to the Supreme Court against the decision. The
court quashed the decision, and the government appointed another DIG Prakash Aryal to the post.
Silwal knocked the court s door with the second petition, which the court for examination. Angered by

Similarly, the public is divided. In view of the widespread criticism, the government decided to put the
motion on hold, and the Parliament decided to postpone its meetings until after the local elections due

agree with those who blame the government for acting imperiously and for going after Karki to
intimidate her and the judiciary as a whole so they would desist from holding it to account through
judicial reviews of its decisions and follow ups. Here are the provisions of the Constitution of Nepal
2015 relevant to this case: Article 101 (2): 1/4 members of parliament can move the motion of
impeachment against the chief justice or justice of the Supreme Court if they fail to fulfill his their
duties because of serious violation of this Constitution and law, incompetence or misconduct or failure
and honestly or serious violation of the code of conduct. Section (6): Once the motion is moved, the
chief justice or justice of the Supreme Court would not be able to discharge their duties. Article 103

Virtual Reality ( Vr )
After standing in line at Best Buy for over an hour, I was finally given the chance to try a new piece of
technology I had been following for several years. They fastened a thick headset over my face and I
was instantly transported to a different world. Here, my hands held a bow and arrow and I began to
shoot countless enemies to defend a kingdom from certain ruin. I was now a part of something that
what was once fantasy and now only possible in this alternate world. These digital universes are now
possible thanks to the recent introduction of Virtual Reality (VR), a piece of tech that allows the user
to enter digitally created realms. The technology consists of a headset (that a user would place on their
head), which covers one s face and sight with a big thick dome. Inside that dome is a screen that
projects into the user s eyes, creating a world in which they can feel and interact in. The user can look
around and touch things with their body, just like in the real world. This helps to make someone feel
immersed in an alternate reality, hence the name Virtual Reality. This device has definitely had a big
impact on the tech world and is a game changer to many. Because this device so new, it has yet to
catch on with the general masses, leading many to think that this will not be the next big thing. Many
believe the tech to be just another fad that will die out, as with Nintendo s Wii and its motion gaming.
Others are skeptical about possible controversies that will arise

ONE ACRE FUND: CASE STUDY The scene is Bungoma, Kenya; Moises Postigo is a buyer
interested in purchasing fertilizer on a large scale for his not for profit organization the One Acre Fund

when the farmers produce their crops a percentage of their supplus would be returned to OAF.
Eventually the farmers would no longer need a free hand out and will be able to support themselves
and their families without putting further strain on the government and the economy. When first
looking at Kenya, Postigo had five different suppliers that all met certain criteria he had for doing
business. He narrowed down the suppliers by contacting them ... Show more content on

Postigo contacted five vendors, four of which came back with bids. The first scenario where the cost
outweighed the benefit: had he traveled to the fifth vendor, it would have been a complete waste of
time and money. Secondly, as soon as Postigo informed the potential vendors of their expected
delivery date, a second vendor dropped out of the running, stating that they would not be able to make
the delivery date. By sacrificing the face to face meetings, Postigo saved a large amount of time and
money while still attracting 3 potential vendors; eventually leading to a deal that, from his standpoint,
was very successful. a. Followup question: Did Postigo pay particular attention to the other party s
needs in the phone calls with Dehiv Medji? Postigo did a very good job of paying attention to Dehiv
Medji s needs throughout the negotiations. They spoke about the affect the Kenyan government might
have on both parties, understanding the government subsidies could cripple both parties. He brought
up Medji s opportunity to grow and wanted to be involved in their growth, he asked about growth
prospects...indicated that the two organizations might grow together (Negotiating, pg 7). Postigo
negotiated in a fair and cooperative manner, providing flexibility on delivery dates and transportation
costs. One of the biggest appeals of Dehvi Medji to OAF was its willingness to fix a price in
November for a January delivery (Negotiating, pg 7).

United States V. Gordon E. Thomas III Case Study
United States v. Gordon E. Thomas III: Understanding the Effects
Criminal profiling refers to the inference of offender characteristics. Historically, the use of criminal
profiling can be traced back to 38 C.E. when Jews were wrongfully accused of blood libel, also known
as the kidnapping and murdering the children of Christians for religious rituals during Jewish holidays
(Turvey, 2012). As time progressed, criminal profiling has evolved into the study of crime and
criminal behaviors, including mental health and physical evidence surrounding a crime that has been
committed in an attempt to identify a likely suspect. However, the validity of scientific evidence as a
whole was challenged in the 1993 Daubert v. Merrell Dow Pharmaceuticals, 509 U.S. 592. In this
case, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the trial judge was the gatekeeper to prevent junk science
from entering the courtroom and outlined standards, also known as Daubert standards, for expert
testimony including, testing, peer review, error rates and acceptability (Turvey, 2012). ... Show more

Comparing Beowulf And Modern Hero s
Similarities Between Modern Hero s and Anglo Saxon Hero s
When you think of a hero or someone to look up to most adults and children think of heroes like
Spiderman and Superman, but heros come in many different shapes and sizes. What some people don t
realise is that there are heroes everywhere and anyone can be a hero. There are many characteristics
that set people apart from the average Joe to a hero. There are many differences between Anglo Saxon
heroes and modern day heros, but there are multiple similarities. Anglo Saxon heroes such as Beowulf
and modern heroes such as Charles Douglas Harris, and Omar Grant have some kind of strength
whether it is physically or mentally. They both have to be there when someone needs help, and no
matter what the circumstances are they have to be brave. If a hero lacks in any of these areas they
wouldn t even be considered a hero at all.
To be a great hero you have to be strong and be willing to fight anyone and anything. In Beowulf,
Beowulf was extremely physically strong, he showed his strength throughout the whole story, I have
heard moreover that the monster scorns in his reckless way to use weapons; therefore, to heighten
Hygelac s fame and gladden his heart, I hereby renounce sword and the shelter of the broad shield, ...

The Supreme Court Extends 2nd Amendment Rights to the...
The Supreme Court ruled on June 28th that the 2nd Amendment s protection of the right to bear arms
applies on state and city levels. The 5 4 decision along ideological lines echoed 2008 s decision to
strike down DC s handgun ban, citing the 14th Amendment as a major factor in the decision to extend
the federal right to own a hand gun for personal protection down to local levels. Though it officially
returned McDonald v. City of Chicago to the lower courts for a decision, it is expected that Chicago s
28 year old handgun ban will be overturned, and that legislation against handgun restrictions in other
states will be legally challenged for years to come. During this project, I watched and reports about the
Supreme Court s decision from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That clip was then followed by a quote from Justice John Paul Stevens dissenting opinion as well as a
short statement by Congresswoman Dianne Feinstein (D CA) which was made during Elena Kegan s
confirmation hearing. The reporter drew attention to the fact that the court did not strike down
Chicago s hand gun ban, but rather sent it back to a lower court noting the fact that legal analysts
expect lower courts to overturn the law in light of Supreme Court decision. Smith then drew attention
to the fact that the right to own handguns does not, in the estimation of the Court, overturn restrictions
on waiting periods or assault weapons. The Supreme Court s 2nd Amendment Decision,
Correspondent James Rosen, June 28, 2010 After this initial report, Smith introduced James Rosen a
reporter in Washington DC. Rosen equated this case to Brown v. Board of Education and Roe v. Wade,
in that it is a momentous victory for 2nd amendment advocates. Mr. Rosen then discussed the majority
opinion written by Alito balancing it by showing a clip of Paul Helmke from the Brady Center to
Prevent Gun Violence, in which he said that this ruling does not affect the things which they are
fighting against. Helmke emphasized that the ruling applies only to the right to own handguns, and
does not appear to effect waiting periods and restrictions on military grade assault

What Are The Similarities Between King James Version And...
Be very sure of this people never reject the Bible because they cannot understand it. They understand
it too well; they understand that it condemns their own behavior; they understand that it witnesses
against their own sins, and summons them to judgment. They try to believe it is false and useless,
because they don t like to believe it is true. J.C. Ryle. Before I begin I would like to say that I use both
the King James Version and English Standard Version. I have nothing against the KJV and I believe it
is an inspired word of God. The problem is I don t believe it is the only inspired word of God.

So if I ve done my math correctly Paul most definitely didn t use the KJV to deliver his very inspired
messages sent from God. Most people using the KJV now are using a modern version of the KJV, not
the 1611 original King James. If it was the only inspired version why wouldn t you continue to use it
and not modernize it? If the King James Version was the only true version would someone who was
saved from a message delivered from an uninspired version have a faulty faith and salvation? Now I
don t know what translation the evangelist was speaking from when I got saved but I would hate to
believe that if it was not the KJV that I haven t truly been saved all this time. You would assume that
the translation from the oldest manuscripts would be the most accurate but versions such as the ESV
actually use older manuscript families than that of the KJV. I fear for the intentions of the KJV only
advocates, for I feel that many but not all, focus more on the Bible translation and the persuading of
others to use it than they do on the main character and persuasion of others to follow

Determining The Molecular Formula Of A Hydrated Copper...
Determining the Molecular Formula of a Hydrated Copper (II) Sulfate Through the Concept of Moles
Introduction
In this experiment, the mass percentage of water, and the molecular formula, of a hydrated copper (II)
sulfate will be calculated through an understanding of hydrates, percent composition, and moles.
A hydrated compound, is a compound that absorbs water molecules from the surrounding
environment.1 The water molecules attach to the compound, but do not form a chemical bond. Water
molecules in an inorganic hydrate can be released when the compound is heated, and become
anhydrous.1
In this experiment, by heating the hydrated copper (II) sulfate, the water molecules will evaporate and
separate from the compound leaving behind an anhydrous solid compound, copper (II) sulfate.
The mass of which will be recorded, and used to calculate the mass of water molecules in the hydrate.
The mass of the hydrate will be equal to the combined mass of the anhydrate and water molecules. It
is important to note that no reaction has occurred, since chemical bond have not been formed or
broken. By using the measurements found, the percent composition of water can be calculated through
equation (1) by substituting water for the element.
(1) % =
The molecular formula will be calculated, using equation (2) to convert the mass of water and the
anhydrate into moles.
(2) n =
Therefore, the hypothesis of this experiment is that by heating the hydrated copper (II) sulfate,
converting

What Is The Spirit Of The Scarlet Letter In Chapter 18
Terrence Martin makes an interesting point in this discussion of Hester in chapter 18 when he asserts
that the spirit of the scarlet letter has caused Hester to oppose to the spirit of law itself. In this chapter,
Hawthorne portrays Hester as a strong minded and independent woman. She is encouraging
Dimmesdale to join Pearl and her in Europe, to leave behind the society they live in and even goes as
far as to remove her scarlet letter and cap. Having been an outcast from society for so long gave
Hester a freedom that was foreign to the minister. The scarlet letter provided Hester with a passport
into regions where other women dare not go (Hawthorne 317). Hester had a natural bold and fearless
mind, that being labeled and outlawed out of society

Running a Dairy Industry
A) Primary Production To achieve a well run dairy that is efficient and profitable there are many
factors and resources that contribute. Planning and operation management are tools in which farmers
use to accomplish the objectives (Brand, Noordhuizen and Schukken, 1996, p.7). There is a lot more
involved in managing a dairy farm other than the milking process, farmers have many roles to carry
out to ensure a successful operation for example: financial management, land management,
maintenance, health care, crop production, reproduction and herd replacement. Financial management
and recording (including bookkeeping), help farmers to keep track of cash flow, payable and
receivable. Aspects include borrowing and investing money, buying feed, fertiliser and temporary
water, income from milk sales and payment for external services such as consultants and agronomists
(On the Farm Dairy Australia, 2011). Land management includes pasture growth, sprinkler irrigation
systems, fixing fences and fertilising paddocks. Farmers are more aware these days about
environmental impacts caused by agricultural practices and implement ways to prevent degradation
such as planting trees and shrubs to increase river bank stability to reduce soil erosion and fencing off
river banks so the soil and plants will not be spoilt by a herd trampling on them. Settling ponds for
water runoff from dairies are set up to prevent the contaminated water entering the rivers, dams and
streams (On the Farm

being more playful for the older children. I was also able to observe the nurse preparing and giving

of which vaccine is which and also where to give them. She explained that if she gives multiple

Why Handguns Should Not Be Banned
Handguns can be effortlessly disguised, so they are the weapon of decision for individuals who utilize
them for self preservation. Sadly, they are additionally the weapon of selection for crooks. Since
handguns are simple for delinquents to take, handguns are easily accessed on the black market; this
makes handguns appealing for crooks. The majority of crimes involving guns are committed with the
usage of a handgun; this is a serious issue in America today. Although most would concur that
something must be done, nobody appears to have the appropriate response now. Some weapon control
supporters trust that totally restricting handguns is the most ideal approach to secure citizens. Be that

At the point when an individual is mindful and prepared properly, handguns are effortlessly the best
type of self preservation, and a handgun ban removes this alternative from them. John Stossel (2008),
clarifies that laws against firearms are truly laws against self preservation, and required weapon free
zones are in reality free wrongdoing zones. Handgun bans won t prevent criminals from obtaining
weapons; they will, be that as it may, keep a well behaved resident from purchasing a firearm for self
preservation (pg.21). While he might be somewhat extraordinary in expressing that laws against
weapons are laws against self protection, he makes a decent point. Forbidding handguns leaves
subjects with less self protection choices. At the point when individuals are stripped of the best type of
self preservation, they are helpless, and this is a major issue. Stossel is accurate about firearm bans
keeping decent citizens from utilizing weapons in self protection, and this gives the preferred
standpoint to the criminal. A well behaved citizen won t overstep the law and claim a handgun in the
event that they are restricted, yet a criminal will. In the event that an individual tries to rob a bank or
murder somebody, he or she is not going to be stressed over breaking a firearm mandate.

Abstract In this paper two set of edge texture features is proposed such as Discriminative Robust
Local Binary Pattern (DRLBP) and Discriminative Robust Local Ternary Pattern (DRLTP) for object
recognition. The proposed DLBP and DRLTP are derived from the drawback of the Local Binary
Pattern (LBP), Local Ternary Pattern (LTP) and Robust LBP (RLBP).The LBP code and the RLBP
code are mapped in the same block .The proposed feature solves the problem of discrimination
between a bright object against dark background and vice versa. The proposed feature retains contrast
information for representation of object contours the LBP, LTP and RLBP discards. By this proposed
features the objects in the image can be further analyzed for the exact location of the object in the

The Symbolic Significance of Methuselah as It Reflects the...
Methuselah is a parrot character in The Poisonwood Bible written by Barbara Kingsolver. The novel is
set in the late 20th century in a village of The Congo call Kilanga. Methuselah is a parrot who is left
by brother Fowls for the Price family. He has been denied freedom for very long and has been kept in
a cage. Later when Nathan Price sets him free, he has no idea what to do with his independence. So he
keeps flying near the Price house and depends on the Price girls for food. When Congo s
independence is announced, Methuselah gets killed and eaten by a cat. The imprisonment and freedom
of Methuselah can symbolize the current and the future conditions of the Price family as well as the

The Belgians had colonized The Congo for its natural resources like many other western powers at the
time that aimed for no more than have dominion on every creature that moved upon this earth (10) as
it is confessed by Orleanna at the beginning of the novel. In a very similar way, Methuselah was kept
in a cage by the humans against its will only because it was a weaker creature. Just like The Congo,
Methuselah is not allowed the freedom of speech as every time he says something, Nathan Price gets
mad and inquires which one of [the daughters] taught [it] to say that word (76). In a similar way, The
Congo is denied the freedom of speech and is not considered as a sovereign state. The effects of the
colonization of The Congo can still be seen as the country could not cope up with it even after half a
century. The country remains poor and divided as it is not used to work on its own and enjoy the
freedom of living. The same happens with Methuselah after Nathan tells him that (he is) free to go
(94) and grants him freedom. Methuselah had forgotten what freedom feels like and it goes and then it
comes back because its wings aren t any count (133). Because of this Methuselah cannot survive on its
own and later he gets killed and eaten by a cat. Comparing Methuselah with hope Adah declares that
she had found hope fallen already (185) and she adds that a piece of it [was there] beside their latrine,

Anglican Churches
Newly ordained Anglican priests are given a bible to show that all their authority is rooted in scripture,
while priests that are ordained in the Roman Catholic church are given a chalice and a patten to
symbolize their receiving power to consecrate the Last Supper. The Anglican polity preserves the
ordained orders of bishops, presbyters priests, and deacons that go back to apostolic times. Although
there is no official doctrine of having a priest, some Anglicans consider it essential; some feel it is
needed for the proper ordering or fullness of a truly catholic church (Encyclopedia of Religion).
All Anglican churches are constitutionally governed. Each church has their own canons for executive
and legislative authorities (Encyclopedia of Religion). From the outside, we can see the ways the
Anglican approach to scripture is similar to the Catholic approach and also various Protestant views,
but it follows neither approach neatly. The Bible holds a place of supreme authority and formation of
beliefs in the Anglican community. Jesus Christ is one of the sure revelations of God and holy
scripture is one sure record that revelation itself is both inspired and revealed by God. ... Show more

A World Without Work By Derek Thompson
Every day, human beings work. To work is to be engaged in physical or mental activity in order to
achieve a purpose or result. (New Oxford American Dictionary) Thus, some people work by holding
full time jobs where they perform a task in order to get payed, while others exert their energy crafting
or caring for others, and yet others devote themselves to learning. Because work is such an integral
part of the American culture, it is hard to imagine life without it. However, this is exactly what Derek
Thompson does in the article, A World Without Work. In this piece, Thompson explores what might
happen if human work is replaced by technology. This essay challenges modern society s view that the
sole purpose of work is to earn money and boost self esteem, instead asserting that it also plays an
important role in holding together a community. Therefore, Thompson argues, the removal of it would
have many negative impacts on American society. While A World Without Work does make some
strong points about the harms of the end of work, the author fails to fully persuade the audience
because he does not clearly define his key terms or provide concrete evidence to support either his
main point or his proposed solution to the problem. In A World Without Work, Derek Thompson
argues that in the near future, technology will remove the need for the American workforce, thus
causing a major problem in our social dynamic and necessitating government intervention. At the

Essay On Counterculture
Prior to the countercultural revolution of the 1960 s, the legal experimentation of psychedelic drugs
were widely researched for the treatment of alcoholism and various mental disorders. The term
psychedelic means mind manifesting or altering and was given to hallucinogens like marijuana, LSD,
MDMA, and psilocybin in 1956 by psychiatrist Humphrey Osmond (Taylor 1). The studies grew
rapidly but medical progress was quickly halted because of the legal ramifications in response to the
hippie culture and escalated pressure of other governments. People strongly object to such
experimentation with little practical application and questionable ethics thus fueling the controversy in

The counterculture was a subculture founded by a group of rebellious youth and antiwar activists that
opposed the views of the mainstream society and protested the Vietnam war. During this period, LSD
and other drugs of this kind, were viewed as drugs of abuse, becoming highly associated with student
riots, anti war demonstrations and the counterculture . There were reported suicides, loss of sanity and
claims that the usage caused discomfort and confusion, instead of peace and enlightenment. The
problem soon drew political interest. Skeptical of the scientific medical benefits, the government
began to enforce stricter policies regarding research practices. Regardless of the promising
developments, the government dictated that there was not sufficient evidence or rationality to the
studies. Science demands repeatability, proof and rationality (Alyushin 589). Requiring studies to
provide the formal demands of common experiments, these were standards that the studies could not
yet satisfy. The reports could not entirely be categorized and lacked control groups. There was no
physical evidence and results were limited to many of the subjects first hand experiences and negative
finding were not included in final analyses. Due to these circumstances, conservative government
policies then suppressed and restricted psychedelic research by making the substances illegal in 1968

Essay On Why Were The Colonists Justified In Declaring...
After the French and Indian War in 1763 the British government made many new laws, agreements
and taxes regulating all colonists which eventually led to the Revolutionary War. There were several
reasons why the revolution began and the colonists decided to separate from Great Britain. Most
colonists did not approve of the King because he ruled with tyranny. He was unjust and did not listen
to the input of the colonists. Others such as Loyalists, believed the King s decisions were fair. Long
before 1763, America was large in population and still growing. This was because Great Britain had

A Reflection On The Racquetball Curriculum
The racquetball curriculum has a lot to offer outside the realm of physical activity. Racquetball proves
to be great exercise, but can also be a great learning experience. My time throughout the class has
been a wonderful learning experience. After completing the racquetball course I will have learned
plenty in which I can apply to my future life. Before my enrollment in racquetball I had little to no
knowledge of the sport. If someone had asked me to describe the sport as a whole I would not have
been able to adequately do so. Having no knowledge of the rules, terminology, or tactics behind the
game, one could conclude that I knew next to nothing about racquetball. During the length of the
course I spent much of my time on the court learning, improving, and developing an understanding of
the activity. I have developed an appreciation for the game and those who play it. Racquetball itself
proves to be much more complex than what I had originally though. Cleary simply hitting the ball
does not prove to be an proficient play style as I had once assumed. This will no doubt defer me from
making assumptions about other sports in the future. This was a worthwhile learning experience as a
whole, and developing an appreciation for the game is not the only thing I will take away from this
class. Alongside debunking any misconceptions I once had, racquetball also reinforced the importance
of diet in the everyday lifestyle. Aside from the countless things learned on the court, I

that took place in each of their lives. Throughout the following paragraphs, how each Wes s life slowly
became different will become clear. The meaning of the excerpt from Sir William Ernest Henley s
poem has a lot in common with Moore s writing, The chilling truth is that his story could have been
mine. The tragedy is that my story could have been his (Moore 180). It has a lot in common because
they are both about sadness. Wes is saying that it is frightening that he could have ended up like
prisoner Wes and that it is saddening that prisoner Wes did not end up like him, while Henley is saying
that there it is fear since we do not know our future. These two pieces also talk about the future. Wes is
saying that he has a bright future in front of him while the other Wes is going to have a sad life in jail.

Financial Statements Measure The Liquidity And The...
Introduction The financial statements measure the liquidity and the strength of a business. On the
balance sheet; offsets calculate the real value of accounts receivables and fixed assets. Uncollectible
accounts receivables and depreciation reflect the offsets reported on financial statements. In
accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); two methods compute the
uncollectible accounts receivable expense. Just like uncollectible accounts offset the value of accounts
receivables; so do depreciation expenses counteract the value of fixed assets. Also called contra
accounts, the journal entries accumulate and are then recorded on the balance sheet.
Part One Uncollected Receivables The first technique is the write off method. Small companies with a
small number of uncollected accounts receivables, or, bad debts; utilize this process. Once a customer
account becomes worthless, a write off occurs. Immediately, the write off is recorded in the journal;
applied directly to the uncollectible customer account. The first step in this journal entry; debit the
customer s accounts receivable account. In the next entry; credit the allowance for doubtful accounts.
With this process, an accumulation of entries are completed during the period, as customer accounts
become uncollectible. The book Financial Accounting (Duchac, Reeve, Warren, 2014) states: At the
end of a period, Allowance for Doubtful Accounts will normally have a balance. Second, the

Cover crops is the first method I will cover. Cover crops are essentially an alternative crop that get
planted between growing cycles. There can be a number of positive reasons for doing so. A cover crop
can hold the soil together ad reduce erosion. If ploughed into the soil or mowed and left as cut
material, this provides a more natural revitalisation of organic material and therefore nutrients to the
land. This is a more healthier alternative to manufactured strong fertiliser to replenish nutrients to the
soil for the next crop. Certain crops can also act as detergents to pets and diseases. Another use of
cover crops is to act as a cover crop and feed for livestock meeting dual needs.

In the short run share repurchases might look good in order to increase the share price in the market
and increasing the Earnings Per Share of the stock. Even though the act of share repurchases might be
an elusive move, no doubt that it is a sophisticated move as well. Most of the time management is well
aware of its decisions and makes judgments in the best interest of the shareholders. But, AutoZone

Another alternative would be to use the cash to increase number of stores or expansion of its business

The Negative Effects Of Social Networking In The Workplace
Social networking is all the crave in today s society. In 2017, 81 percent of U.S. Americans had an
online networking profile, representing a five percent development contrasted with the earlier year ( ).
Social networking in the working environment can be an important apparatus for organizations. It can,
in turn, cause significant issues at work. Bosses are confronted with the need to create online
networking approaches that enable the organization to receive the positive rewards of social
networking use while limiting the negative impacts. Issues happen when workers take advantage of
work web access for individual use amid work hours. Managers must choose if the utilization of web
based social networking exceeds the potential for negative effects.
Managers are concerned that social media can become a distraction during working hours. Employees
can become lost in time while on social media taking away from valuable productivity. Social media
can also be valuable to the organization as a promotional tool to reach out to new clients.
An advantage of online networking in the work environment is that it can be used as an advertising
tool for organizations. It enables a measure of straightforwardness to the organization through posts,
sites, and pictures and makes the organization less demanding to identify with for the normal shopper.
Organizations can utilize online networking to assemble mailing records, offer deals, display products
and post positive media comments.

employees about diversity. The goal of diversity training is not only to create and increase awareness
of workplace diversity, but also to grow and boost skills among employees to help them communicate
more profoundly in the future. Differences in race, sexual orientation, education and work experience
can cause tremendous damage between employees and to the business as well. Diversity training has

Casey Asato Biography
There are many questions that most people have no answer to. What is your favorite food? What is
your favorite song? What is the most memorable place you ve traveled is a difficult question for Mr.
Asato, who has been to seemingly everywhere on earth. I have many special memories of incredible
places that I hold dear to my heart. He has a certain memory for each of his travels, but the one travel
that left the biggest impact on him was his trek to the Mountainous Village in Hinterland Japan.
Casey Asato was born in Honolulu and grew up in Kailua attending Damien Memorial for his high
school years. Asato s high school was an all boys high school, required shirt and tie, and there was no
A.C. It was a private school like Seabury but he believes that Seabury has much more opportunities.
As a high school student Casey Asato was a bit of a slacker. He says he should ve ... Show more

It was an accident, says Asato. He didn t want to be a teacher, in college he majored in finance and
minored in Japanese. Right after college he returned to Japan in which he studied abroad in high
school. He returned as a middle school teacher in Japan. This is the first time he had a real job and was
able to buy clothes and food. He was on a one year contract in which he extended because he fell in
love with Japan and it s culture. After the contract ended he returned and was trying to figure out what
to do in life. He realized the happiest point in his life was when he was teaching, so the universe
aligned and Casey Asato became Mr. Asato.
Teaching is extremely difficult, but I like challenges and I m still working it at it. Mr. Asato is not only
a full time teacher but a full time student as well. This will be his 10th year as a teacher at Seabury
Hall, and his 18th year teaching in general. He is currently working on his E.d.D at U.H Minoa. Asato

However, a lower P/E ratio can also be generated with one off abnormal earnings (Phan, 2011).
In 2008, share prices dropped mainly due to the US sub prime crisis, which started in 2007 (Lixi,
2008). This had a huge impact on the P/E ratio for 2008, which is slightly below the threshold of 10
times. The P/E ratio for ANZ was higher than NAB in 2009 and there was lesser fluctuation in ratio.
Share prices tend to rise with improved economic conditions, and with stimulus packages being
distributed all over the world, there was uplift in the global economy, hence driving share prices
(Larsen, 2012). However, falling earnings over 2009 caused both P/E ratios to rise. NAB s P/E ratio
increased a significant amount and overtook ANZ s. Over the 5 years, NAB s P/E ratio fluctuation is
observed to be consistently higher than ANZ s. Moreover, NAB s higher P/E ratio might be due to
investors high expectations, which were not supported by earnings.
The P/E ratios returned to a more normal course in 2010 due to improved earnings (See Appendices
1). In 2011, earnings were higher than in 2010 but the drop in market share price caused P/E ratio to
decrease again. This drop might be linked to concerns over the uncertainties around sovereign debt in
Europe.

Scarlet Letter Pearl Quotes
Little innocent Pearl. The baby born into one of the worst sins possible and has to stand with her
mother while she is humiliated publically. Pearl is the one that helps Hester get through this tough
time and she makes the story. Without Pearl, Hester would have given up on life and left all good
morals behind. Through Pearl s actions and encounters with people readers learn how important she is
as a character in The Scarlet Letter. In the novel, readers are told about Pearl s appearance. (quote on
how Pearl looks) Pearl resembles the scarlet letter that is upon her mother s bosom. Hawthorne does
this because she is a symbol of adultery just like the A is. She admires the letter and her mother even
though she doesn t fully understand the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She screamed and shouted, too, with a terrific volume of sound which, doubtless, caused the hearts of
the fugitives to quake within them. The victory accomplished, Pearl returned quietly to her mother,
and looked up, smiling, into her face. (96). Pearl yells at the kids who are throwing mud at her mother
because she is a child and doesn t know any better. At first, as already told, she had flirted fancifully
with her own image in a pool of water, beckoning the phantom forth, and as it declined to venture
seeking a passage for herself into the sphere of impalpable earth and unattainable sky.(168). Now that
she is older, she has noticed how her mother acts around other people and plays by herself. She has
fun even though she is her only friend. Pearl begins to care about other things than just herself.
Perceiving a flock of beach birds that fed and fluttered along the shore, the naughty child picked up
her apron full of pebbles, and creeping from rock to rock after these small seafowl, displayed
remarkable dexterity in pelting them. (168). When she sees that she has hurt the poor creature she
stops throwing the pebbles. Her emotions build due to her being alone for so long. Pearl wants a
friend, but Hester knows that if Pearl has friends they will tell her the true meaning of the scarlet

Modern medicine allows people to take good care of them even if they are suffering from diseases
such as diabetes and hypertension. Particular studies show that gradually, the need to take the
medicine can reduce as the body rebuilds from the conditions that cause ED.
Learning about Side Effects
It is always important to learn about the side effects whenever taking a medicine. The chemical
sildenafil citrate, affects the pathway of nitric oxide production in the body therefore it can interfere
with all the medicines that use this pathway. Nitrate based drugs should therefore ideally not used
when using this drug.
The medicine can also produce an allergic reaction in some individuals. This normally results in a
visible rash on the exposed skin such as face and hands. Viagra should also be used carefully by
people with known heart diseases. It produces vasodilation resulting in decreased blood pressure.
Kamagra tablets are a great solution and can offer an amazing increase in performance to individuals
struggling with ED. People that need these tablets however must be aware of their side effects and

Analysis Of Jack Kerouac s On The Road
Author and Beat literary movement pioneer Jack Kerouac adopts what he calls spontaneous prose as
his own unique style in On the Road. Otherwise known as stream of consciousness, this is a method of
writing that essentially captures the nebulous and unrelated thoughts that cross the narrator s mind at
any given moment, without break for explanation. Critics are quick to point out that this concept is
materialized in the premise of Kerouac s novel On the Road itself, citing the cross country trek that is
the center around which the novel revolves. It is one of confusion, calamity, and carelessness, as well
as fast paced, unpredictable change of direction and complete emancipation of personal responsibility
that is the self proclaimed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Neal s attitude towards society is one more of individuality rather than rebellion. As one critic puts it,
[Neal] doesn t want to overthrow the government, but he doesn t want a government, or anyone else
for that matter, to have control over him (Napierkowski and Stanley 188). He begins to idolize Neal
and his viral, vivid personality. One critic describes the pair s relationship as one of lost brother[s],
and goes on to describe Neal as the like minded, vibrant wanderer that Kerouac desired (Cunnel 8).
Kerouac even grows jealous when Neal meets Allen Ginsberg, where he writes, Two keen minds that
[Allen and Neal] are they took to each other at the drop of a hat... the holy con man the great
sorrowful poetic con man that is Allen Ginsberg. From that moment on I saw very little of Neal and I
was a little sorry too... Their energies met head on. I was a lout compared; I couldn t keep up with
them (Kerouac 112). Kerouac s feelings of inadequacy in terms of the explosive personalities of the
two survive through his strong affinity towards Neal. While in Denver, Neal and Allen try to soul
connect, the two of them both having taken Benzedrine and babbling complete nonsense to each other
straight through the night. The pair realize [Kerouac s] been awake all this time listening, and

Ella Baker
The book Ella Baker and the Black Freedom Movement: A Radical Democratic Vision, by Dr. Barbara
Ransby was an incredible and extremely moving book. I really enjoy learning about history and
significant people who have impacted the history and culture of our country. However, I have never
learned of Ella Baker nor have I ever heard her name mentioned once. Barbara Ransby s book
provides a well structured and insightful biography of one of the most important, yet least well known,
leaders of the Civil Rights Movement. After reading Ransby s book, I have learned of the immense
contributions that Ella Baker has contributed to history, more specifically the Civil Rights Movement.
Furthermore, I have gained a greater understanding of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was amazing to see how much Ella Baker was ahead of her time. She was a strong, independent
woman decades before there was a women s movement. I was very interested in the issues that she
had with Dr. Martin Luther King and his style of leadership. To me it was important to see that not all
the leaders agreed but knew to respect each other because they were fighting for the same cause. It
was also interesting to see how Ella Baker still contributed to organizations that were not doing thing
her way in order to help build coalitions. This I feel was in important factor in the success of many
organizations during the movement.
She worked to advance what she called group centered leadership long before a belief in the
importance of internal and participatory democracy within our progressive organizations was widely
shared. She was a coalition builder. Principles were essential, but she was rarely if ever tactically
rigid. She understood that the way individuals lived their personal lives could not be divorced from
their political activities.
Ella Baker must be the most underrated figure in the civil rights movements. There are plenty of
Presidents who have done less to shape their own times than Ella Baker. She decisively shaped two of
the most important national civil rights organizations the NAACP and the SCLC, and was the single
most decisive figure in a SNCC. Ella Baker should not be forgotten when we talk about

My Pursuit Of Pursuing A Nursing Degree
Since I was in grade school I always had a dream of going to college and becoming a doctor. I pushed
myself to maintain an A average and continued to be involved in sports and school activities. Both my
personal and professional lifetime goals in life are to provide and offer true love and compassion for
humanity. With my goal of obtaining a nursing degree is extremely important to me as it would allow
me the opportunity to fulfill my career goals and desires.
Growing up as a Hispanic female I didn t have much advantages like others. I was raised by a single
mother with three children with low income benefits. I was always so ashamed of it and it wasn t till

nurses.
I plan on attending Texas A M University Corpus Christi as a pre nursing major to obtain my
bachelors in Nursing. I have had a wonderful freshman year here and I can t wait to see what the next
years have in store for me. I also plan to attend there for graduates school and become a Nurse

As moneylenders, they became immensely wealthy, controlling Spanish customs and extending their
power throughout Spain s overseas empire. Their influence stretched from Rome to Budapest, from
Lisbon to Danzig, from Moscow to Chile. In their banking role, they loaned millions of ducats to
kings, cardinals and the Holy Roman emperor, financing wars, propping up popes, and underwriting
new adventures putting up the money, for example, that King Carlos of Spain gave Magellan in
commissioning his voyage around the world. In the early sixteenth century the family patriarch was
Jakob Fugger II, who first emerged as a powerful figure in 1505, when he secretly bought the crown
jewels of Charles the Bold, duke of Burgundy. Jakob first became count in Kirchberg and
Weisserhorn; then, in 1514 the emperor Maximilian I
der gross Max acknowledged the Fuggers role as his chief financial supporter for thirty years by
making him a hereditary knight of the Holy Roman Empire. In 1516, by negotiating complex loans,
Jakob made Henry VIII of England a Fugger ally. It was a tribute to the family s influence, and to the
growth of trade everywhere, that a year later the Church s Fifth Lateran Council lifted its age old
prohibition of usury.

  • 2. Gary Ridgway Theory For instance, the case of the Green River Killer (Hickey, 2010:24) may offer another possible explanation for what caused Jack the Ripper to become a serial killer. Gary Ridgway is America s most notorious serial killer (Hickey, 2010), he holds the record for the most serial murder convictions in the history of the United States (Hickey, 2010:24). Ridgway is responsible for the deaths of 48 women (Hickey, 2010). Like Jack the Ripper, Ridgway selected prostitutes as his intended victims (Paley, 1995). The social learning theory may offer an explanation for why Ridgway, and the Ripper, may have become serial killers. The social learning theory suggests that behaviours are learnt by observing the behaviour of others (Jones, 1998:355), therefore if a person witnesses aggressive attitudes, this may increase the chances of that person acting in the same negative manner (Choon Chan, 2012:52). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The experiment found that the children, who were exposed to adults acting aggressively towards a doll, were largely inclined to also behave violently towards the doll, compared to those who were not exposed to adult violence (Demers,2011). According to Bandura, children learn behaviour by repeating what they see adults do (Conradie and Golding, 2013). Ridgway himself grew up in a dysfunctional home environment, where he witnessed and was subjected to both physical and emotional abuse from his mother (Hickey, 2010:24). According to the social learning theory, as Ridgway had observed faulty behaviour (Weatherby, 2009:5) exhibited by his mother, he himself would be more likely to demonstrate the same sort of violent behaviour. Additionally, the social learning theory may also give us an insight into why Ridgway targeted prostitutes, perhaps prostitutes were his objects of hate because they symbolized his ... The devices are manufactured by a third party company and shipped to TicTek, whereupon they are warehoused until they are purchased through the company s website. The warehouse staff prepares and ships customer orders in the same facility which houses the office staff and management. TicTek has a few major stockholders, but the majority of the company s stock is owned by its executives and employees. Due to the online nature of the company s business dealings, TicTek has placed a high priority on the security of network resources, including vendor data, customer data, high availability, and incident response. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Firewalls will be placed between the web servers and the outer edge of the network, facing the Internet. Such a configuration, called a demilitarized zone (DMZ), will provide an additional layer of defense from a network breach. If the web servers are compromised, there will be an additional barrier between them and the intranet. The firewalls will be configured to deny everything, and then the ports that are needed for the functioning of the network will be allowed. For the sake of expense and administrative simplicity, the firewall will be a stateful packet filter firewall, as opposed to an application proxy firewall, which would offer higher security and configurability at the expense of administrative complexity due to the need for a proxy for each application in use by the company. The packet filtering firewall filters traffic based on predefined rules. A network based IDS will be used on all network subnets and the system will be anomaly based. An anomaly based IDS is preferable for its ability to detect zero day attacks. With a signature based IDS, the system uses a set of definitions to detect threats and the definitions must be updated on a regular and ongoing schedule. The system will be passive in its functioning, in that it will not stop threats that it detects. Rather the IDS will send notifications to the IT staff that are tasked with the security of the network. The IT staff will then ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Anger In Poison By Roald Dahl Anger is an extremely volatile, hateful emotion. The emotion is understood to happen from time to time unconditionally, and it occurs in the best of people. However, some anger is uncalled for and extremely rude. In Roald Dahl s short story, Poison, one of the main characters, Harry, exhibits extreme anger for the following reasons: he had a severe superiority complex, he was under extreme stress, and he was taken aback by the doctor s sarcasm. Harry felt he was vastly superior to the doctor, and that resulted in his outburst. First this story set in India, much of the population were Hindus, and they were looked down upon by Christians. • 5. Enchiladas Research Paper Anytime I m preparing a meal I check my kitchen to make sure I have everything I need. To make beef enchiladas I will need, beef, enchilada sauce, corn tortillas, shredded cheese, cubed cheese, green chile, 2 cans of mexican style tomatoes, onions, bell peppers, jalapenos, not to mention rice and beans for our sides. First, I chop up the onions, bell peppers and jalapenos. When that is finished I take out the skillet and turn the heat on high. Put all the chopped vegetables in the skillet, add beef, and let it cook until the beef has browned. Once the meat is done, I pour a can of mexican style tomatoes and green chile in, turn down the heat and let simmer. Next, I take out three pots for the enchilada sauce, charro beans, and mexican rice. In one of the pots I m going to pour in the rice in, add butter, set the heat and stir until all the butter is almost melted then add 2 cups of water and let boil for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. In the other pot I can put the charro beans in and let cook on low heat. While those are cooking I m going to heat up the enchilada sauce in the small pot to start dipping the corn tortillas in. After that I roll them up with beef and 2 1/2 cubes of cheese in each tortilla then place them in a cassarole dish. I can fit about 16 in one dish. When I m done rolling all the tortillas I get a bag of shredded cheese and smother it all on top of the tortillas. Then I put the dish in the oven on 350 for about 15 to 20 minutes. Now I go back to my rice and pour in the other can of mexican style tomatoes in while stirring it all together. Let simmer for five more minutes until I remove it from the heat to let cool off. ... One or the other side may win this war, but the constitution, the due process of law and the Nepali people will be the ultimate losers in it. It is important to put the case in perspective to cut out the misinformation about it. The government promoted Deputy Inspector General Jaya Bahadur Chand as inspector general of police. His competitor Nawaraj Silwal went to the Supreme Court against the decision. The court quashed the decision, and the government appointed another DIG Prakash Aryal to the post. Similarly, the public is divided. In view of the widespread criticism, the government decided to put the motion on hold, and the Parliament decided to postpone its meetings until after the local elections due on 14 May 2017. Based purely on the constitutional provisions, I agree with those who blame the government for acting imperiously and for going after Karki to intimidate her and the judiciary as a whole so they would desist from holding it to account through judicial reviews of its decisions and follow ups. Here are the provisions of the Constitution of Nepal 2015 relevant to this case: Article 101 (2): 1/4 members of parliament can move the motion of impeachment against the chief justice or justice of the Supreme Court if they fail to fulfill his their duties because of serious violation of this Constitution and law, incompetence or misconduct or failure and honestly or serious violation of the code of conduct. Section (6): Once the motion is moved, the chief justice or justice of the Supreme Court would not be able to discharge their duties. • 7. Virtual Reality ( Vr ) After standing in line at Best Buy for over an hour, I was finally given the chance to try a new piece of technology I had been following for several years. They fastened a thick headset over my face and I was instantly transported to a different world. Here, my hands held a bow and arrow and I began to shoot countless enemies to defend a kingdom from certain ruin. I was now a part of something that what was once fantasy and now only possible in this alternate world. These digital universes are now possible thanks to the recent introduction of Virtual Reality (VR), a piece of tech that allows the user to enter digitally created realms. The technology consists of a headset (that a user would place on their head), which covers one s face and sight with a big thick dome. Inside that dome is a screen that projects into the user s eyes, creating a world in which they can feel and interact in. The user can look around and touch things with their body, just like in the real world. This helps to make someone feel immersed in an alternate reality, hence the name Virtual Reality. This device has definitely had a big impact on the tech world and is a game changer to many. Because this device so new, it has yet to catch on with the general masses, leading many to think that this will not be the next big thing. Many believe the tech to be just another fad that will die out, as with Nintendo s Wii and its motion gaming. Others are skeptical about possible controversies that will arise ... By sacrificing the face to face meetings, Postigo saved a large amount of time and money while still attracting 3 potential vendors; eventually leading to a deal that, from his standpoint, was very successful. a. • 10. United States V. Gordon E. Thomas III Case Study United States v. Gordon E. Thomas III: Understanding the Effects Criminal profiling refers to the inference of offender characteristics. Historically, the use of criminal profiling can be traced back to 38 C.E. when Jews were wrongfully accused of blood libel, also known as the kidnapping and murdering the children of Christians for religious rituals during Jewish holidays (Turvey, 2012). As time progressed, criminal profiling has evolved into the study of crime and criminal behaviors, including mental health and physical evidence surrounding a crime that has been committed in an attempt to identify a likely suspect. However, the validity of scientific evidence as a whole was challenged in the 1993 Daubert v. Merrell Dow Pharmaceuticals, 509 U.S. 592. In this case, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the trial judge was the gatekeeper to prevent junk science from entering the courtroom and outlined standards, also known as Daubert standards, for expert testimony including, testing, peer review, error rates and acceptability (Turvey, 2012). ... Comparing Beowulf And Modern Hero s Similarities Between Modern Hero s and Anglo Saxon Hero s When you think of a hero or someone to look up to most adults and children think of heroes like Spiderman and Superman, but heros come in many different shapes and sizes. What some people don t realise is that there are heroes everywhere and anyone can be a hero. There are many characteristics that set people apart from the average Joe to a hero. There are many differences between Anglo Saxon heroes and modern day heros, but there are multiple similarities. Anglo Saxon heroes such as Beowulf and modern heroes such as Charles Douglas Harris, and Omar Grant have some kind of strength whether it is physically or mentally. They both have to be there when someone needs help, and no matter what the circumstances are they have to be brave. If a hero lacks in any of these areas they wouldn t even be considered a hero at all. To be a great hero you have to be strong and be willing to fight anyone and anything. • 12. The Supreme Court Extends 2nd Amendment Rights to the... The Supreme Court ruled on June 28th that the 2nd Amendment s protection of the right to bear arms applies on state and city levels. The 5 4 decision along ideological lines echoed 2008 s decision to strike down DC s handgun ban, citing the 14th Amendment as a major factor in the decision to extend the federal right to own a hand gun for personal protection down to local levels. Though it officially returned McDonald v. City of Chicago to the lower courts for a decision, it is expected that Chicago s 28 year old handgun ban will be overturned, and that legislation against handgun restrictions in other states will be legally challenged for years to come. That clip was then followed by a quote from Justice John Paul Stevens dissenting opinion as well as a short statement by Congresswoman Dianne Feinstein (D CA) which was made during Elena Kegan s confirmation hearing. The reporter drew attention to the fact that the court did not strike down Chicago s hand gun ban, but rather sent it back to a lower court noting the fact that legal analysts expect lower courts to overturn the law in light of Supreme Court decision. Smith then drew attention to the fact that the right to own handguns does not, in the estimation of the Court, overturn restrictions on waiting periods or assault weapons. The Supreme Court s 2nd Amendment Decision, Correspondent James Rosen, June 28, 2010 After this initial report, Smith introduced James Rosen a reporter in Washington DC. Rosen equated this case to Brown v. Board of Education and Roe v. Wade, in that it is a momentous victory for 2nd amendment advocates. Mr. Rosen then discussed the majority opinion written by Alito balancing it by showing a clip of Paul Helmke from the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence, in which he said that this ruling does not affect the things which they are fighting against. If the King James Version was the only true version would someone who was saved from a message delivered from an uninspired version have a faulty faith and salvation? Now I don t know what translation the evangelist was speaking from when I got saved but I would hate to believe that if it was not the KJV that I haven t truly been saved all this time. Determining the Molecular Formula of a Hydrated Copper (II) Sulfate Through the Concept of Moles Introduction In this experiment, the mass percentage of water, and the molecular formula, of a hydrated copper (II) sulfate will be calculated through an understanding of hydrates, percent composition, and moles. A hydrated compound, is a compound that absorbs water molecules from the surrounding environment.1 The water molecules attach to the compound, but do not form a chemical bond. Water molecules in an inorganic hydrate can be released when the compound is heated, and become anhydrous.1 In this experiment, by heating the hydrated copper (II) sulfate, the water molecules will evaporate and separate from the compound leaving behind an anhydrous solid compound, copper (II) sulfate. The mass of which will be recorded, and used to calculate the mass of water molecules in the hydrate. The mass of the hydrate will be equal to the combined mass of the anhydrate and water molecules. It is important to note that no reaction has occurred, since chemical bond have not been formed or broken. By using the measurements found, the percent composition of water can be calculated through equation (1) by substituting water for the element. (1) % = The molecular formula will be calculated, using equation (2) to convert the mass of water and the anhydrate into moles. (2) n = Therefore, the hypothesis of this experiment is that by heating the hydrated copper (II) sulfate, converting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She is encouraging Dimmesdale to join Pearl and her in Europe, to leave behind the society they live in and even goes as far as to remove her scarlet letter and cap. Having been an outcast from society for so long gave Hester a freedom that was foreign to the minister. Planning and operation management are tools in which farmers use to accomplish the objectives (Brand, Noordhuizen and Schukken, 1996, p.7). There is a lot more involved in managing a dairy farm other than the milking process, farmers have many roles to carry out to ensure a successful operation for example: financial management, land management, maintenance, health care, crop production, reproduction and herd replacement. Financial management and recording (including bookkeeping), help farmers to keep track of cash flow, payable and receivable. Aspects include borrowing and investing money, buying feed, fertiliser and temporary water, income from milk sales and payment for external services such as consultants and agronomists (On the Farm Dairy Australia, 2011). Land management includes pasture growth, sprinkler irrigation systems, fixing fences and fertilising paddocks. Farmers are more aware these days about environmental impacts caused by agricultural practices and implement ways to prevent degradation such as planting trees and shrubs to increase river bank stability to reduce soil erosion and fencing off river banks so the soil and plants will not be spoilt by a herd trampling on them. • 31. A World Without Work By Derek Thompson Every day, human beings work. To work is to be engaged in physical or mental activity in order to achieve a purpose or result. (New Oxford American Dictionary) Thus, some people work by holding full time jobs where they perform a task in order to get payed, while others exert their energy crafting or caring for others, and yet others devote themselves to learning. Because work is such an integral part of the American culture, it is hard to imagine life without it. However, this is exactly what Derek Thompson does in the article, A World Without Work. In this piece, Thompson explores what might happen if human work is replaced by technology. This essay challenges modern society s view that the sole purpose of work is to earn money and boost self esteem, instead asserting that it also plays an important role in holding together a community. Therefore, Thompson argues, the removal of it would have many negative impacts on American society. While A World Without Work does make some strong points about the harms of the end of work, the author fails to fully persuade the audience because he does not clearly define his key terms or provide concrete evidence to support either his main point or his proposed solution to the problem. In A World Without Work, Derek Thompson argues that in the near future, technology will remove the need for the American workforce, thus causing a major problem in our social dynamic and necessitating government intervention. • 37. Financial Statements Measure The Liquidity And The... Introduction The financial statements measure the liquidity and the strength of a business. On the balance sheet; offsets calculate the real value of accounts receivables and fixed assets. Uncollectible accounts receivables and depreciation reflect the offsets reported on financial statements. In accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); two methods compute the uncollectible accounts receivable expense. Just like uncollectible accounts offset the value of accounts receivables; so do depreciation expenses counteract the value of fixed assets. Also called contra accounts, the journal entries accumulate and are then recorded on the balance sheet. Part One Uncollected Receivables The first technique is the write off method. Small companies with a small number of uncollected accounts receivables, or, bad debts; utilize this process. Once a customer account becomes worthless, a write off occurs. Immediately, the write off is recorded in the journal; applied directly to the uncollectible customer account. The first step in this journal entry; debit the customer s accounts receivable account. In the next entry; credit the allowance for doubtful accounts. With this process, an accumulation of entries are completed during the period, as customer accounts become uncollectible. The book Financial Accounting (Duchac, Reeve, Warren, 2014) states: At the end of a period, Allowance for Doubtful Accounts will normally have a balance. Second, the ... Even though the act of share repurchases might be an elusive move, no doubt that it is a sophisticated move as well. Most of the time management is well aware of its decisions and makes judgments in the best interest of the shareholders. But, AutoZone was pushing its luck by accumulating debt and somehow seemed like the management wasn t concerned about the credit rating of the company. Another alternative would be to use the cash to increase number of stores or expansion of its business in Brazil. There is always a first mover advantage that AutoZone could capture in the Brazil market. AutoZone had already captured the market in Mexico, Canada and Puerto Rico.Yet again, autoparts industry seems to have slowed down its number of store in the last year but the distance travelled by light trucks has remained the same while the average age of these vehicles has increased (Appendix Figure 4 amp; 5). This means that these vehicles require maintenance in the long run. Also, AutoZone could be the first to capture new markets. Social networking in the working environment can be an important apparatus for organizations. It can, in turn, cause significant issues at work. Bosses are confronted with the need to create online networking approaches that enable the organization to receive the positive rewards of social networking use while limiting the negative impacts. However, a lower P/E ratio can also be generated with one off abnormal earnings (Phan, 2011). In 2008, share prices dropped mainly due to the US sub prime crisis, which started in 2007 (Lixi, 2008). This had a huge impact on the P/E ratio for 2008, which is slightly below the threshold of 10 times. The P/E ratio for ANZ was higher than NAB in 2009 and there was lesser fluctuation in ratio. Share prices tend to rise with improved economic conditions, and with stimulus packages being distributed all over the world, there was uplift in the global economy, hence driving share prices (Larsen, 2012). However, falling earnings over 2009 caused both P/E ratios to rise. NAB s P/E ratio increased a significant amount and overtook ANZ s. Over the 5 years, NAB s P/E ratio fluctuation is observed to be consistently higher than ANZ s. Moreover, NAB s higher P/E ratio might be due to investors high expectations, which were not supported by earnings. The P/E ratios returned to a more normal course in 2010 due to improved earnings (See Appendices 1). In 2011, earnings were higher than in 2010 but the drop in market share price caused P/E ratio to decrease again. This drop might be linked to concerns over the uncertainties around sovereign debt in Europe. 2) Return on Equity (ROE) According to Forbes, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Otherwise known as stream of consciousness, this is a method of writing that essentially captures the nebulous and unrelated thoughts that cross the narrator s mind at any given moment, without break for explanation. Critics are quick to point out that this concept is materialized in the premise of Kerouac s novel On the Road itself, citing the cross country trek that is the center around which the novel revolves. He begins to idolize Neal and his viral, vivid personality. One critic describes the pair s relationship as one of lost brother[s], and goes on to describe Neal as the like minded, vibrant wanderer that Kerouac desired (Cunnel 8). It was also interesting to see how Ella Baker still contributed to organizations that were not doing thing her way in order to help build coalitions. This I feel was in important factor in the success of many organizations during the movement. She worked to advance what she called group centered leadership long before a belief in the importance of internal and participatory democracy within our progressive organizations was widely shared. She was a coalition builder. Principles were essential, but she was rarely if ever tactically rigid. She understood that the way individuals lived their personal lives could not be divorced from their political activities. Ella Baker must be the most underrated figure in the civil rights movements.
