2. Aim and Purpose
In this presentation, I will be presenting some of the
initial ideas for my magazine. I will be discussing certain
aspects of the initial magazine designs, such as the genre.
the house-style and the target audience of the magazine.
The reason I am presenting this to you is because I need
feedback from my peers in order to decide which idea is
the most likely to be successful and therefore develop on
the chosen idea.
I would like you to think about which design you think
would be the most effective and which one is the one
you liked the most.
3. Idea One
The first designs is based around techno style music,
which would involve dubstep, rave and drum and
bass as sub-genres of music. I will base the magazine
around these genres and alter my use of images and
styles in order to suit my target audience
accordingly.
My target audience will be people who are interested in
and enjoyed this sort of music, as well as teenagers and
young adults. The style of the magazine would have to
relate to the lifestyle of the target audience, which
would be people who are energetic and live an eventful
life.
The style of the magazine would be busy, messy and
very colourful, in order to both draw the viewers’
4. Idea Two
My second idea was to create a magazine that
is based on rock n roll style music from the
1950’s and 1960’s. Although this genre is not so
popular nowadays, there are still a few
magazines that features music from this era,
and there are people who still enjoy this sort
of music.
The target audience of this magazine would be the
people who enjoy rock n roll, mostly adults, as
most teenagers are not familiar with this style of
music. Therefore, the style of the magazine would
have to be quite formal and neat in order to suite
the target audience. Although, because this sort of
music meant the ‘revolution’ of music at the time,
it should be quite unique and casual at the same
5. Idea Three
My third idea is a magazine based rock music,
specifically pop-punk, hardcore and alternative rock.
The target audience for this magazine will be the
fans of this genre of music, teenagers and both
genders.
Also, the magazine would have a messy and busy style,
as the target audience would be represented as
rebellious and non caring, which is the stereotype for
most of today’s teenagers. Working with black and
white as the two main colours, but including lots of
colours that stand out from the background would
create an attention drawing and suitable style for the
magazine.
Features could include, interviews, upcoming gigs,
6. Peer Feedback
Lauren: Prefers the third idea, likes the first idea and does not
like the second idea because of lack of audience and dislike of
music style.
