2. Initial Ideas
 Genre- Rock. There are many sub genres within rock (alternative,
indie, punk, heavy metal, hard rock, etc)
 Rock music is popular and it’s the genre I know the most about.
 Kerrang! magazine and Rock Sound magazine will be similar to my
magazine as they helped inspire me about what magazine to do.
 My magazine will cover artists such as/similar too: Green Day,
Black Veil Brides, Bring Me The Horizon, Sleeping With Sirens, Fall
Out Boy etc. My magazine will also promote artists that are just
starting out.
 Possible magazine name : Ready Set Rock!, Rock On, We Like It
Loud

3. Institution
 The institution that may be interested in my magazine is Bauer
Media Group. This is a popular company and will benefit my
magazine as already popular artists may not want to be featured in
a magazine that doesn’t have much popularity.
 Also, I think there is space in the institution/market for a magazine
like mine. The magazine that I create may have similarities to
Kerrang! and Rock Sound magazine. However, my magazine will
also concentrate on introducing readers to new artists. Some
magazines only concentrate on what is popular.
 My magazine will also concentrate on a wide range of rock music,
instead of just focusing on one so it may appeal to many readers.

4. Target Audience
 My target audience will be anybody that is
interested in the rock music genre, and want to
discover new artists and keep up to date with their
favourite bands/artists.
 The age range I think will be around 16-24
because I am within that age range and will know
what some people will want to have in a
magazine.
 The magazine will be for both male and female.
 Because of the age range the magazine the price
will be cheap. – Students, low paid jobs etc

 My media product will be similar to the likes of Kerrang!,
Alternative Press and Rock Sound magazine. My magazine
will be bright with the possible colours of red, yellow, black
and white.
 Like the other magazines stated above, my product will have
a bold masthead going across the top and a central image
which will take up the majority of the cover.
 The mode of address will be informal (not over the top) with
some aspects of formality. It will be chatty and friendly and
direct to the reader.

My magazine will feature:
 Interviews with artists and new artists
 Top 10 Albums, Top 40 singles etc.
 Reviews: Albums, songs, bands, shows
etc.
 Gigs and Tours guide
 New Artists
 Competitions
 Free giveaways - posters

8. Double Page Spread Ideas
 It possibly will be an interview with a
new ‘band’.
 Left page with a big photograph of the
band and maybe some add on
information.
 Right page could include a interview
with the band members: questions will
be about their music and what they have
accomplished so far etc.
