These results show that the majority of people who answered my questionnaire were
women aged 16-24, therefore the results of the questionnaire wil be most applicable
to that target group.
• The results connote
that most people
never buy magazines
however those who
do are evenly spread
between yearly,
weekly and monthly.
Taking these results
into account I will
distribute my
magazine bi-weekly
to try and appeal to

These results denote that the most popular thing to be included in a
magazine was the chance to get a free MP3 download so for this reason I
will be including that in my magazine and in my cover lines to attract an
audience. The top 100 tunes of 2013 was also a popular article so will me
included in my magazine and cover lines on the front cover.
What sell line would make you buy a
magazine?
• The most popular responses to this question
were sell lines which offered a form of free
promotion or prize for example “WIN Free VIP
Tickets to see 5SOS!” and “Free Tracks Inside!”
therefore I will use similar promotions in the
sell lines on my front cover in order to attract
an audience and encourage them to buy the
magazine.

The results make clear
that an image in the
style of my third image
of Dan smith is the most
popular style. I believe
that this image will fit
my magazines genre so
will attempt to replicate
the style through
costume and props of
musical instruments.

going to try and ‘repeat’

the masthead, the red,

house style, and the
language used in cover
lines.

House style 3 was the most popular so in my planning I will look at
fonts of a similar style to use in my mast head in order to appeal to
the desired target audience effectively.

The most popular sell line was ‘free MP3 Downloads’ so I will
be including it in the cover lines of my music magazine in
order to attract an audience.
Conclusion
• The results I obtained in my survey have informed
me on what to include in my music magazine in
order to target and capture an audience. I can
now understand what kind of images, layout, and
house styles people find attractive and therefore
repeat and exploit some of these features to
effectively attract an audience. Furthermore I am
now able to understand what cover lines and
language are appealing and effective in catching
an audiences attention and therefore will be
using the most popular results in my magazine.

Questionnaire Results Guide Music Magazine Design

  • 3. Gender Male Female Other Age Under 16 16-24 25-34 35-44 45-54 55+ These results show that the majority of people who answered my questionnaire were women aged 16-24, therefore the results of the questionnaire wil be most applicable to that target group.
  • 4. • The results connote that most people never buy magazines however those who do are evenly spread between yearly, weekly and monthly. These results denote that the most popular thing to be included in a magazine was the chance to get a free MP3 download so for this reason I will be including that in my magazine and in my cover lines to attract an audience. The top 100 tunes of 2013 was also a popular article so will me included in my magazine and cover lines on the front cover.

What sell line would make you buy a magazine? • The most popular responses to this question were sell lines which offered a form of free promotion or prize for example “WIN Free VIP Tickets to see 5SOS!” and “Free Tracks Inside!” therefore I will use similar promotions in the sell lines on my front cover in order to attract an audience and encourage them to buy the magazine.

I believe that this image will fit my magazines genre so will attempt to replicate the style through costume and props of musical instruments.
  • 9. Layout 1 2 3 1 2 3 The layout of ‘KERRANG!’ was most popular so I am going to try and ‘repeat’ (Steve Neale - 1980) features such as the style of the masthead, the red, white, yellow and black house style, and the language used in cover lines.

  • 12. Conclusion • The results I obtained in my survey have informed me on what to include in my music magazine in order to target and capture an audience. I can now understand what kind of images, layout, and house styles people find attractive and therefore repeat and exploit some of these features to effectively attract an audience. Furthermore I am now able to understand what cover lines and language are appealing and effective in catching an audiences attention and therefore will be using the most popular results in my magazine.
