2. The purpose of the magazine:
The purpose and aim of my genre based rock magazine
is to promote 80s rock to younger audiences in north
London and encourage them to re-emerge the genre by
going to concerts, buying merchandise and streaming
albums , including via traditional methods such as CDs.
I will do this by providing content such as interviews,
biographies, facts about rock, typical rock fashion,
locations of rock clubs and the most trending songs.
3. Form, price and genre:
My magazine would take the physical form of a matte print based magazine just as-well as an
online magazine , The colour of my magazine will consist of red , black and white to match the
genre of rock , with one main image of an inspiring artist at the front.
The genre of the magazine will be rock as i have taken an interest to this genre of music since
i was young and I myself live in north London therefore i think it would be appealing to many
other teens in north London.
There is also a wide variety of artists within the rock genre that could be inspiring to teenagers
living in north London since many rock artists started out in London. In addition to this i think
that my idea of creating a rock magazine is unique as there are not that many to be found in
the market especially in this generation.
For the price of the magazine i will be selling it magazine for £3.50 so that it is affordable to
teenagers of any social class. As for online version of the magazine you would have to pay
a monthly subscription fee by giving in your card details and phone number to access the
magazine online - this subscription can be cancelled at anytime. if a buyer signs up to the
subscription online , they will be able to share their opinions on the website in the comment
sections allowing interaction with other buyers possibly sharing new ideas.
4. Content:
My magazine would contain Spotify links to the most iconic
rock albums from the 80s or where to buy them in north
London , small sections giving a insight to the most popular
rock artists lives, information about the origin of rock,
website links guiding readers to the upcoming live concerts,
the style of rock ect. I will include all of these things to
reinforce the genre and attract audiences looking to know
more about rock.
5. Target audience:
The primary audience of my magazine would be teenagers ages 15-18 as i am
trying to encourage the younger generation to listen to rock as much as the older
generation does. When looking at the demographics approach this audience would
consist of both genders most likely of a white background who's parents may enjoy
rock , in addition to this taking a psychographic approach these teenagers would
also possibly enjoy live music and take interests in the artists and might be
passionate about going to concerts therefore it would be helpful to promote my
magazine at concerts and live music halls.
The secondary audience of my magazine would of course be adults ages 40-50 as
they listened to rock when the genre was at its prime. This audience would normally
consist of white men and women however other ethnicities may also listen to the
genre.
6. Distributing and marketing methods:
Social media plays a big part for my target audience therefore it will beneficial
to have my magazine be promoted on social media platforms such as
Instagram, Facebook and Tiktok by using hashtags to gain attention from
teenagers. Since teenagers use social media daily it will not only be a good
way to gain attention from this audience but it will work quick. When distributing
my magazine to the secondary audience (adults ages 40-50) it would be more
sensible to distribute and promote my magazine via shops , to make is more
accessible for adults since they use social media less than teenagers however
Facebook could be a beneficial way for adults to find the magazine.

8. Font syles:
For my font styles i will be using times new roman in my
double page spread as it is not too complicated and it will
make it easier for readers to read. I also chose this to
portray the classic feel of rock music. This font tells
audiences that although my magazine is exciting and
supports the fun genre of rock it is also interesting and
inspiring.
9. Article ideas:
My article would have to inspire teenagers in north London to acknowledge and listen to the beauty
of rock music. To do this I will include interviews with teenagers my age that also share a passion
with 80s rock music to show that the genre is still prominent in 2021, i will ask them why they listen
to the genre, how long they have listened to it and their favourite aspects of 80s rock.
There will also be links on our website that guides readers to the most popular 80s rock albums
(these would also be written in the print based magazine).
In addition to this i will include facts and news about rock music , discussing how it has evolved and
what people prefer.
