3. Process: Adding Images and Effects To
Cover Part 1
To start off my front cover, I had to create an ideal background in order to capture the attention of my
targeted audience, which is everyone, so I used a gradient to create a simple white to black effect for the
background to make it simple for all ages. Next I used the polygon lasso tool to cut out the first image, an
image of Joe Tate from Emmerdale, since on the cover the top story on the soap will be the most
highlighted story of the week. Next, I use the same tool to cut out Cain and Debbie and then paste all of the
images onto the background. I then moved them around a bit with the selection tool to make them look
more presentable. After that, I began to use the cut out tool again on Zog and Princess Pearl from the
animation Zog.
4. Process: Adding Images and Effects To
Cover Part 2
Continuing from the cut out of Zog and Pearl, I then pasted them onto my image just like what I did with our
Emmerdale characters. I then proceeded to cut out the Gruffalo and Mouse from the first ever Julia
Donaldson animation: The Gruffalo. After that, I pasted them onto my magazine behind Zog because to give
the illusion that the Gruffalo is slightly bigger than Zog himself. Also, I added a circle behind the Gruffalo
for a interesting layered effect like is some existing magazine covers. Next, I cut out the witch and the cat
from Room On The Broom with the same tool. Then I pasted them onto the cover in front of the Gruffalo so
they can be seen easily.
5. Process: Adding Images and Effects
To Cover Part 3
After that, I start to cut out the Gruffalo’s Child then paste it to my work right next to
Princess Pearl. Next, I begin to cut out the Highway Rat from the original image and then
just like the others, I then pasted it onto the cover, making sure it is seen very clearly
and not covered up by others. Then, I lassoed out the stick family from Stick Man and
again, pasted it onto my work where it can be seen. This is essential because I wanted
to make sure all of Julia Donaldson’s characters were seen for the promo.
6. Process: Adding Images and Effects
To Cover Part 4
Next, I used Publisher again to create a small shape of Mrs Brown’s living room, using a circle tool for
effect. Once I finished, I then saved it into my files, ready to be uploaded upon my cover on Photoshop.
From there, I copied it onto my cover and set it into a corner where it can be seen easily. Next, I started
to use the lasso tool on Mrs Brown to make it look like she is in front of the circle when pasted. I then
pasted it onto the page in front of the circle as planned. Then I pasted the Emmerdale logo of the
internet onto my cover to fit with the background characters.
7. Process: Adding Text To Cover Part 1
Next, I used Publisher to begin making the main title that showcases the big Emmerdale story.
I used the WordArt tool for this. Once it was completed, I then pasted it onto my work and
adjusted it to the correct size. After I, I then used the same software to create the main context
that will appear under. I fist made the red text outline by using the WordArt tool again but then
thickened the outline of the test to make more bold and thick. After that, I then pasted it onto
Photoshop, ready to be displayed upon my cover.
8. Process: Adding Text To Cover Part 2
After that, I then pasted it onto the cover, adjusted the size, then moved on. After using the
same process, I then used the same text, but turned it white and thinned the out line to make
look like normal text. Next, I moved on to the log. Like the last, I used Publisher to create a
thick outline, dowsed it in red then pasted it onto Photoshop ready to be displayed onto my
cover as planned. Then I moved onto the eye catching text that really does sell the company
I have made. I started the process by using Publisher to create the text once again.
9. Process: Adding Text To Cover Part 3
With the text being made, I then saved it into my files ready to be uploaded on Photoshop.
After that, I pasted my text upon my cover and resized it to the correct scale. Next, behind the
first part of the logo, I used the pencil tool to colour the background for a more layered effect.
I then imported the text about the Julia Donaldson films at the bottom next to the Highway
Rat and his horse. Then, I began to make the second part of the logo, to begin with, the thick
text outline. I used the Word Art tool again to create the original text, but then thickened the
outline to make it look like an background. Next, I uploaded on Photoshop, ready to be
pasted.
10. Process: Adding Text To Cover Part 4
I then pasted it onto the page, ready for the next part of the logo. Before that however,
I quickly added a background for the text about the Julia Donaldson films, using the
same process as the main title, copied it and then pasted it to the correct scale to
make it neat. Next, I began to work on the next part of the logo, the TV text to layer
that of the background bold outline. First, I made the text within Publisher, saved it,
and then pasted it upon my work. Then I made the number 4 of the logo using the
same process as the others.
11. Process: Adding Text To Cover Part 5
I then pasted it on my work and rescaled it to make it look
good. Next, I made the other number Four for the text that
goes over the last image. I create it, paste it and scaled it.
Then I did the same procedure with the letter U but I used a
different font for it.
12. Process: Adding Text To Cover Part 6
After that, I began to make the central U for the page and as always, I underwent the
same process as the other titles for this process, and the end it looked good. Finally,
I used the rectangle tool to create a box across the top that will tell the crowd how
good the magazine. This is what happens on existing TV magazines. After the box
was rescales, I added a title I made in Publisher to the box, making it a complete
finish.
14. Process: Adding Images Part 1
I first began the spread by adding a picture of Adagio Dazzle from one of my
choice shows to the landscape page. I then did the same thing with Twilight
Sparkle who is from the same source. After the girls were pasted, I then
used Publisher to make a circle with a picture of purple glitter in the
background. I chose this because it fits well with the choice’s theme.
15. Process: Adding Images Part 2
I then pasted the circle onto the page and scaled it to right size. After that, I used
Publisher again to edit a picture of Amy and Tyler from Coronation Street based on
their latest storyline: pregnancy. I then pasted it to the page and proceeded to the
Rainbow Rocks logo that goes with Twilight and Adagio. I used the same procedure
as the previous.
16. Process: Adding Images Part 3
I moved the image to much more better space because I didn’t like the round
rectangle shape it starred in. I then used the rectangle tool to create a split
horizontally across the page to make quarters. After that, I saved a picture of the
Coronation Street logo online and then pasted it onto the page in front of the picture.
Next, I saved a picture of Mel and Hunter from EastEnders and pasted it upon the
sheet.
17. Process: Adding Images Part 4
Then, I found and pasted the EastEnders logo upon the work and made sure it was
clear since logos need to be clear and precise to promote the purpose. I then added a
blue rectangle behind the logo and image just like the other two. I then moved on to
pasting a picture of one of ITV cherished dramas: Vera. I used the polygon lasso tool
to cut out Vera herself form the image, and paste into the empty corner. Next, I moved
onto finding a countryside background. Once I did, I saved it into my files.
18. Process: Adding Images Part 5 & Adding
Text Part 1
I then added the picture to the layout. Right after that, I added the official Vera logo I found
and saved into my files in order to show the public what this programme is called for those
unfamiliar with it. I then began with the text by typing out the summary of Rainbow Rocks
with detail for those who love My Little Pony. Next, I moved onto the text regarding Vera
using the text box tool again. Same goes for the EastEnders and Coronation Street text.
After that, I started to make the first bold title for the spread. First, I made the bold outline on
Publisher for the EastEnders section.
19. Process: Adding Text Part 2
After that was done, I saved it as picture like the rest, then pasted
it on my work and readjusted to a better size. Next, I moved onto
the main text that would layer it, using the same process as usual
like the last. After pasting it, I moved onto the Coronation Street
and just like the EastEnders title, I created the thick outline first.
20. Process: Adding Text Part 3
I then saved it and pasted it onto the page as usual. Next, I
moved onto the main text for the title, and went through
the same procedure as the others. I also used the text tool
to make page numbers for both numbers.
21. Process: Adding Text Part 4
Finally, I finished off the double spread by adding the title
that goes across the green strip. I used the same process
as the last few times I did for text. After that, the product
was finished.
23. Process:
I had spare time to make another double page spread. First, I collected the logos of what to me, the most popular 6 channels on TV today. Once I saved
them into my files, I then pasted them, one by one, onto my page, which will turn out to be a TV guide. I then made colour coded squares for each
channel so that the text that will be added will be edible to read, also it was a nice colourful effect. I used the rectangle tool for this. After all the boxes
were created, I then proceeded to collected images of the internet of some of the most popular programmes broadcasted today such as Emmerdale,
Dragons Den, and saved the images once again into my files, ready to be pasted on my product. Next, I made the texts for the programmes which
consist of start and end time, as well as a little info of the programme for the extra touch. When all the text was completed, I then moved on to
Publisher to create the big title for the bottom of the guide. I’d undergone the same procedure as I did with other two products in order to get a strong
bold title. When that was completed, I then moved on to the second half of the decided, and decided to have Cain Dingle’s arrest broadcasted in that
section, so I started off with finding an spoiler image from the internet and then posted it into the page in full size. After adjusting it, I then moved on to
creating the main story title with the Publisher process like before and pasted it. Next, I used Publisher again to create a circle with a saved picture of
the presumed deceased Joseph Tate inside as he is the main reason for Cain’s arrest. Before I finished, I made a text box showcasing a glimpse of
what will happen during the moment when it is shot. Finally, I added the Emmerdale logo to show which soap this spoiler comes from, and that’s the
end of the products process.
