3. Research
• The research helped me get an idea of what my video game
mite look like. I picked different elements of the products I
research and used them in my product. The research also
helped me see what looks good in a game. It was quite hard
to find three games that would be similar to my product, so if
I did it again I would make a product which is based off
another game, which would my the research a lot easier. And
if my product was based off a game that already egoists
people may like it more. I could have maybe written more
about the researched products, for instance talk more about
there unique elements and what makes them similar to my
product. This would have made my research a lot more
interesting and look a lot better.
4. Planning
• The planning was good as you where able to write down
every thing you need to create your product. I also set a time
plan for my product, this was good because It let me know
what I need to do and when I needed to finish it, so that I
wouldn’t finish it late. I made a couple of layout designs to see
what my product will look like when it was complete. I could
have written more on the style sheet, for instance I could have
had more fonts on it or have more colours on it. This would
have given my product a lot more style and make it unique. I
also could have put a bit more in health and safety section
because it seems a bit limited.
5. Time Management
• In my planning I made a timetable for myself to help me
mange my time while making my product. Although I did put a
bit too much on the timetable and originally planned to do a
lot more, but it took me a lot longer to complete than I
thought it would, this is because I did a frame by frame
animation, so I could have planned it better than I did. If I had
more time I would have sound effects and music instead of
just having music and then my product would feel more like a
video game. I also would have had some animations in my
product for instance, an animation when they swing there
swords, this would have made my product look a lot more
professional
6. Technical Qualities
Red
Arena
This product is similar
to my product
because it has a
medieval setting, and
is also violent, also the
the target audience is
similar to my product.
The product is
different because it
doesn't’t have a side
view camera angle.
This product is similar because it has a violent tone to it, and
the target audience is the same. The product is different
because it has a story where you to different locations, whilst
in red arena you stay in one spot.
This product is similar
to mine because it has
a bright setting but a
dark tone, and it has
the same target
audience. One of the
difference with this
product is the character
designs. It also uses
weapons (swords and
axes)
7. Aesthetic Qualities
Red
Arena
In my opinion the
character models look
great. I used a
template to help me
create them. If I had
the time to improve
the characters I would
try and make each
character more
unique.
The background took me
a long time to make but
it came out looking great
in the end. If I had the
time to improve it I
would add extra detail
like shadows.
The movement speed is perfect its
not fast, and the spark effect looks
good to. If I had time to improve it I
would try to make the spark effect
look more realistic.
8. Audience Appeal
Red
Arena
The audience for my
product is teens (15-20)
so to appeal to that
audience I made the
main theme of the game
violence. Weapons like
swords, knives and axes
support the fact that it’s
a violent game.
My product also
appeals to the male
gender, because all
the characters are
male. The male
gender will enjoy it
more as they can
relate more to the
characters
The dark tone can also
appeal to the audience
because some teens may
like a dark feel to the
game.
10. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– The music blends well with the game, I like how
the game is quite long.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
• If you added sound effects to the swords
clashing.
11. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– I like how when the sword hit each other it has a spark
effect, I also like the start and loading screen because
it makes it look like a real video game.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Maybe some a different soundtrack one without
lyrics.
12. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– The start and loading screen and the fact that it
went on for a good amount of time.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Different music because it doesn't really suit the
style of game.
13. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback?
– I agree that the style of music doesn't really go with
the style of the game.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
– I disagree with adding sound effects. Although I agree
that it would have probably made the game look a lot
better, It would have taken a long time to do because
of the amount of times the weapons clashed.
14. Peer Feedback Summary
I would defiantly use a different sound effect because
the one I used doesn’t really suit the game, at the
moment It sounds more like a tribute video for the
game. I would also have made an animation for when
they swung there swords to fight, because it would
have made it feal more like a video game.
