Working Title:
FRESH. This is because I feel that the adjective fresh has connotations such as urban and
popular. This is as if something is fresh it is usually associated with the latest or the coolness of
something or someone. I have chosen this name as fresh implies that the songs included are
fresh which means that they are new and cool. This then makes the album sound cool and new.
This also speaks to my target audience as in today’s society younger people want something
fresh.
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Product’s Purpose:
The products purpose is to entertain the audience as well as provide the audience with a form of
escapism to ensure this I am going to make all my products interesting , to do this I will add topical
text as well as clear images. However the main aim of this product is to intrigue the audience into
making them want to look more into and potentially listen to this. To ensure this I will include fonts
that will immediately draw the audience’s attention as well as a clear and colourful graphic. This is
the conventions of this genre.
What is the product’s purpose (entertain/educate etc.) and how will you achieve this?
Genre:
The genre of music this is rap.
This is because this is my favourite genre of music and I feel that I know the conventions, which
appeal to the audience: such as bling and tattoos. To make my product look like a rap product I will
add a rap artist or include the conventions such as large font and especially the language used. To
do this I will use fonts from either Photoshop or websites such as da font or 1001 fonts.
What sort of product is it
Content
In my product I will try and achieve a professional and good looking album cover. By ensuring this I
will include statuesque graphic of an artist so that the audience know whose album it is. This is
also very common within album covers. I will also include a short but catchy name so that people
can remember it, this is important as then people can refer to friends or peers about the album
name. This will be similar to Drake’s album names like views and more life. Again this is very
common within rap album covers. I will also finally include a colour as a background to give the
album cover some character. I will also include the conventions so that the audience know that this
is a rap album cover, to ensure I do this I will include tattoos as well as jewellery. To do this I will
import these into Photoshop and possibly add them unless they already have them.

Research & Planning
The planning and research have really influenced me. The research has probably had the majority
of the effect so far when doing my experiments. This is because when doing research I looked at
various, interviews, album covers and tour posters. This helped me as then I could further
understand what the conventions of these things are as well as what I wanted to achieve and
create. The posters and album covers inspired me the most as I wanted to include a cartoon
graphic in my final piece as this is very popular nowadays especially in the rap music genre , these
graphics have been shown on albums from lil Uzi as well as 21 savage who are very well known.
The planning also influenced my ideas as I got to generate ideas from what I had already seen
such as specific albums and specific graphic designs. I also got to analyse what I wanted to
create, this was to see what I would do for this and potentially what I would need.
Where will you use elements of your research and planning to influence and inform your final idea
(be specific to certain parts)
Audience:
My audience is 16-18 and the gender is male. This is because men seem to be more associated
with rap, for example there is a bigger male audience as well as more male rappers. The social
status is middle class specifically however this des appeal to all classes as higher class people
may been drawn in by the luxury cars , jewellery or clothes. And poorer people may aspire to their
music or their journeys as many of them started off poor. The psychographic for this is balanced as
they are not trying to achieve anything really from this. To apply and appeal to this I will include
male artists, this is only due to them having more of a male audience. I will also include more

masculine related colours such as blue. To do this I will go on Photoshop and use the bucket tool.
Finally I want to include a cheaper album so that there is a secondary audience of lower class
people and also include an eye catching graphic. This will appeal to my audience as younger
people usually are associated more with bright colours, possibly because they are energetic.

Why would your project appeal to this person?
Legal & Ethical Considerations:
On my album cover I will not include any offensive material on the cover however potentially the
songs may have swearing in so I will include a parental advisory image on the cover , rap songs
also have a lot of swearing in. I will not restrict younger people from using tis however I will include
a parental advisory Image so this album cover , tour poster and interview will not strictly appeal to
them. My album cover will not offend any groups in society. To ensure this I will get people to in
my class to look over my work as well as the tutor. My product will be different to other existing
products as I will include a new title and a different image. I will be using existing images and logos
probably. To ensure this again I will apply my product to the asa codes, this is so that they are not
copying anyone or including any offensive material.
