1. Proposal
Concept
The concept of my product is to create a music venue guide and also a music event poster. I want to do
this because I often listen to music and am passionate about it. To do this I will use the conventions of
typical music event posters as well as music as a theme. I will include conventional elements within my
product so that it does look professional and that it does look good. One conventional element I will
convey within my products will be the bright colours. This will be to make it stand out. For my products I
will use bright colours such as blue, pink, green, orange, pink and also red., some of the colours also have
link to nightlife. These products will be based around York. For the venue guide I will choose 3 or 4
venues, which are I York and display them on a double page spread. On this I will show what’s on and also
what people think of these venues. For this I may conduct another survey and distribute it to people who
have been to these venues. For the photography I may go out and take my own photos of the venues
however I may also use some exiting imag3es and edit them to my standard. This all depends on time. The
reason which I am doing this is to show the audience which Is 16-21 year olds what venues are in york
and what is on there, although the audience could Google the specific venue they may not actually be
interested in the venue until they see my poster of what’s on. The music I will future will be pop, hip-hop
and also rock music. This is because they were the most listened to within this age group; I found this out
during my research. I may choose to include past concerts that the venue has hosted. This will be to show
the audience what kind of bands and artists go there. For my music poster I will include a picture of the
artist. I may take this in say the studio however the artist may not actually be performing there, this may
be a picture of a friend. It may be difficult for me to get a picture of a real performing artist there due to
them probably not having much time. For this I will either include my own photos or will adapt exiting
pictures of the artist to my style. I will do this a few times for different artists. My poster will feature dates,
the venue and also possible past ratings from the audience, for example on average how many stars the
audience gave it. I will also feature a few tag lines and sell lines; this is due to them being a convention of
music event posters.
Skills I will use
For this product I will use the skills and technique I have learnt throughout the past 3 years of doing creative
media. I will use the skills I have used mainly in print projects, these projects being my FMP, the magazine
project last year and also my FMP from level 2 media. I will incorporate the skills I learnt within adobe
Photoshop. This will be the main programme I use to create my products, most likely the only programme.
During my FMP last year I learnt many skills within Photoshop. This was due to myself creating a magazine
cover, double page spread and contents page. From this I can transfer organizational skills I have learnt,
photo editing skills I have learnt and also creating and making text stand out and look like something you
would see on a real product. From these other project I can use the skills I have learnt In order to make my
products follow the conventions and to look good.
I plan to evaluate my work by taking screenshots of my production and the rest of the project. From this I
will be able to look at and compare this to exiting products and also past projects. Another way I will do
this is to get peoples opinions. Myself conducting will do this and sending out a survey could do this by
peer feedback this will be done by people coming up and looking at my product would do this. This will
give me an Idea of what I need to include or change.
