2. Planning (idea)
Idea 1 (Fanzine)
For my first idea I am thinking about doing a fanzine. This will be a
magazine however will be based on one specific thing. This specific
thing will be something I am interested in. One thing I am considering is
doing a football fanzine this would be based on a specific team. The
specific team would be Manchester united this is due to them being my
favorite football team. This would include factual information about the
team and would show the audience about the team.
I may instead do a fanzine about shoes. This
would include myself talking and showing the
audience facts about shoes. One thing I could
mention is why people buy shoes and why
some are worth so much. I could then mention
bout the exclusivity of them and also about
famous people who have created and brought
out there own shoes. I could also feature an
interview from someone and this would feature
more information about shoes. I would look
into famous designers and brands.
Another idea of a fanzine is to do a music
related one. This would focus on one genre
or one specific genre. The genre which I am
interested is hip hop music. For this I could
look into the genre and display information
such as famous artists and popular music. If I
didn't’t look into the genre I would look into
specific artists. For this I would look at what
the artist has recently been up to and what
music he has and is releasing. For this I
could look at artists that interest me such as
Dave, Travis Scott, Krept and Konan, Kanye
west and drake.
Filming idea
For this idea I will make a short factual video on shoes and fashion. This will
include brands like supreme, palace and Bape. This is because these are
brands which have a certain element of exclusivity to them and lots of people
want there products. For this I will talk about why people want there products
and why people are prepared to pay resell prices. I will also feature famous
designers such as James Jebbia and Jerry Lorenzo . These are both designers
of major clothing brands. I could look at influences of there's and also why they
designs clothes in that way.
My second filming idea is to film a
documentary style video on music. This would
be about a specific artist. One that I am
interested in. in this I will show the audience
what the artist sings, I will also display facts
about his life and his music career. This is
also the same as my fanzine idea however in
a video format.
I could also do a factual video for football. This
would be the same idea as the fanzine idea
however in a video form. This will show the
audience the same sort of things. These being
facts about the club and the history
surrounding that club.

3. Idea 1 (Fanzine)
For my first idea I am thinking about doing a fanzine. This will be a
magazine however will be based on one specific thing. This specific
thing will be something I am interested in. One thing I am
considering is doing a football fanzine this would be based on a
specific team. The specific team would be Manchester united this is
due to them being my favorite football team. This would include
factual information about the team and would show the audience
about the team.
My main idea is going to be a football fanzine. This will be surrounding the club Manchester united. This is because they are my favorite
football team. This is something I am really interested in doing . For this I am going to do a front cover with 12 or 13 other pages. Some
maybe mainly picture pages. One idea for this was to include a collage of the trophies Manchester united have won. This would show
the audience about the history of the football club. For the main cover I will feature something which is a convention of Manchester
united and football weather this is a football stadium, kit or a player. For this I will either draw it or will import a picture from Google and
edit it. One way I could edit this is to have a cartoon sort of theme for the image. This would be something different and would be able to
use new skills for this. I will include font which is reminiscent of football. This could be font similar to sports channels or font similar to the
Manchester united one. I will then also include the red color on my fanzine cover and inside it. This is because Manchester united play in
red. This would then be a convention of my fanzine of which I need to follow. On the front cover I will also finally involve a name of the
fanzine as well as some sub heading on the cover. This will give the audience and insight into what is inside this edition. There may not
be much text on front of the magazine and the main focus may well be on the main image and the title. Inside the fanzine I will feature
several different topics. Firstly I will feature information about the club this will be a short summary and will feature pictures of for
example the kit and the stadium. I will also do a bit on the success and history of the football club. I will then do a bit on players and past
big matches. Another thing I will add is an interview. This will be between me and a football fan preferably a Manchester united fan. This
will be about the club and there opinions of the way the football team are playing now. Inside I am going to include a lot of red and some
black. This is because black stands out on red and also Manchester united have had black on there football kits in the past on. For the
background on the pages I may choose to use a pattern this could be for example a I could include a majority red background with a
small proportion of the background being black. I will look at this more in detail in my planning. My fanzine will be for an audience which
is 16-40 year olds. This is a broad age range due to this being really for any Manchester united fan. The demographic will be male
however just targets all Manchester united fans however they are predominately male. This fanzine will be so fans can learn more about
the club as well as see what is happening at this current moment within the club. This will be a mix of past and present however if I
decide to do different issues they will be different.
Who
This is for Manchester united fans. This will be something they
can buy weekly or monthly. This will be aimed at male 16-40+
year olds. This is due to these being the audience who go to
football games the most and who have money to pay for
things. This is a large range due to there being a varied age
range of Manchester united fans.
What
I am creating a Manchester united fanzine. This will display
past and present information about Manchester united and go
into depth into certain areas. This will give the audience an
extra insight in to Manchester united.

4. Manchester United
Manchester united is an English club who play in the highest English football league. The club was founded in 1878 and is
considered one of the biggest clubs in the footballing world. Manchester united have won many trophies and have a huge history
behind them. The main trophies they have won are; 20 premier league/ first division trophies, 12 FA cups, 5 league cups, 3
champions league trophies and 4 super cups.. At this current moment this season Manchester united are positioned 7th in the premier
league and are in the group stage of the Europa league however are going to progress to the round of 32. they are also in both the
FA cup and the league cup.
Manchester united play at old Trafford which is the largest stadium in the premier league with a capacity of 76,000.
The club plays in majority red however has an away kit which includes a leopard or similar to leopard print design.
On my fanzine I will include graphics or
present players however may also choose to
include past players. These will be players
such as Wayne Rooney or David Beckham.
These are past players who are every well
known for playing for Manchester united. I may
include some players achievements. For
example Ryan gigs has played the most
games for Manchester united and Wayne
Rooney is the all time top goal scorer. For this
I think I could make a good looking graphic
surrounding them. I will first practice this and
do this as my experiments. I have some good
ideas for these. I may choose to use normal
exiting images however I could also make a
cartoon looking image.
Something like this is something I could create for my fanzine. I
could do a full a5 page on a current and then another page on a
past player. One current player being Marcus Rashford and an
example of a past player could be Rio Ferdinand .

5. On this fanzine they have used the colors red black
as well as yellow. They have used these colors due
to the red and black being the Manchester united
colors and they have used the yellow due to it
going well with the colors and due to it standing
out. Fanzines are a lot different to magazines. This
is due to magazine covers usually including more
text on the covers and also them being about a
wider topic. This fanzine features a barcode
however most don’t. on this cover they have
included a masthead which is ‘united we stand’ this
has been displayed in a font which is similar to
those you would see on a substitution board and
those you would see on an advertising board at
larger clubs. This relates to football. This indicates
that this is a football magazine. They have also
included a graphic on the front. This includes paint
splatters as well as past Manchester united
players. This is one of the more professional
looking fanzines. This is different to normal ones as
they would’t normally include barcode or a sticker
or even art work to this level. The main image
stands out and looks professional. The text has
included a white drop shadow. This is to make it
stand out. They have included ‘their finest hour’
due to this being when Manchester united won
loads of trophies and had players such as Roy
Keene and David Beckham. This is the era all
Manchester fans remember or know about.

6. This fanzine is one which is based of west ham. This is a
football club located in London. You can tell this due to a
number of things. One being the colors. This is because of the
use of claret and blue which are the colors of which they play
in. These colors also future on the badge of the club. Another
thing that shows this is a west ham magazine is through the
masthead. This is ‘blowing bubbles’. This shows that this is a
west ham fanzine due to the club walking out to forever
blowing bubbles. The last thing is due to the main image
including Slaven Bilic. This was there manager when this
fanzine was made however he Is no longer there manager.
This links to the heading below which is ‘on the brink’ this
means that he could get sacked possibly due to his lack of
results. This fanzine is similar to the Manchester united one I
looked at previously in the sense that there is a masthead,
main image and also colors that link to the club. This one
however is but different. This one seems to include more
writing and is in more of a magazine layout. On this cover it
shoes things of which you are expected to see in the
magazine . These are things such as information about
deadline day, Dean Ashton and about there past manager.
This magazine cover appeals to the audience as it features
elements of which would feature to a west ham fan. These are
those I have mentioned above. From this fanzine you can tell
that the demographic is west ham supporters. This is quite a
professional fanzine. This is due to the editing and the design.

7. This Manchester united fanzine is a lot different to the other one I
looked at. This one look a lot less professional. This is due to the
design of the fanzine. The cover features rectangle boxes as well as
font which doesn't really stick out. This also just looks like a default
word font and doesn’t look appealing. The main image looks good
however it doesn’t stick out too much on the red background. I like the
way that this links with the color scheme as well as the way it is in black
and white. From this I can gather that this is an old fanzine, this is due
to the price only being 50p and also due to the picture on the front. This
image is of possibly George best who played for Manchester United in
1963 to 1974. The 50 p price point does seem too cheap nowadays
however this doesn’t mean too much. The font and he pictures are
quite unprofessional and could suggest that it is older. This fanzine
cover doesn’t feature much writing however they usually don’t. This is a
convention it seems. The title red issue links in with the club as
Manchester United play in red and are known as the Red Devil’s. you
could guess this is a Manchester United one. Looking further into the
cover you can see that this is from 1989. This was expected. I think for
that era this fanzine. This is well set out in the sense everything has its
place. This compares to the other one shows how different technology
was back then. Now you have a range of different fonts and images to
choose from.

8. EXPERIMENT 1
For this experiment I wanted to include a masthead and a main image.
The main image being of a Manchester united player. For mine I
included Rashford on the front. This is because he is a well known
Manchester united player and he is recognizable to most football
supporters. For this I went into Photoshop and imported the image. I
then wanted to have the picture cartooned. To this I used the filter cutout
on Photoshop however didn't’t do it to an extreme level so it looked like
the image was stuck on the page. I then filled in the bright sections
which different shades of his skin color. This was because it looked a bit
weird with the lighting on him. After this I thought that it didn't’t look that
professional due to it looking like he has several different skin colors.
From this you can still easily see that this is Rashford. After completing
this I did the background. For thus I included a shade of red. I then
included a triangle of a different shad of red and a small triangle of black.
This was to create a pattern background. This was to make the
background look less boring and more appealing. This also pushed out
the main image from the background. I then included the masthead
‘United together’. This was because it is a Manchester united fanzine.
This is also because you can be united together just like football fans
are. I included this font due to it standing out and also because it looks
like something you would see on a football shirt. I then included a font of
which you would see on a substation board however this is not that
noticeable. I then added some yellow. This was so that these would
stand out and also make the fanzine look more colorful. This also gives
the audience an insight into what's in the fanzine. The last thing I added
was a sub board however I put the price In it. Overall I feel like this
experiment went well due to it teaching me new skills of which I can use
in my final product.

9. EXPERIMENT 2
For this experiment I wanted to include an image of a
Manchester United player however I wanted to include a good
looking image. For this I imported all 3 images from Google
and placed them then grouped them. This was so that I could
have an image with more than one player on. I wanted to do
this because I wanted to try new things so that when it came to
production I could quickly do these things. I then wanted to
make it look like it was a cartoon however I wasn’t too sure
how to do this and make it look good. I then used a filter on
photoshop. This was called cutout and made it look like it was
stuck on to the page. I think that this did look good and stood
out. I was pleased with how the image turned out. After that I
then changed the exposure, brightness and saturation. This
was to try make it stand out even more than it did. I then
included a red background which was a shade of red on the
shirt. This was because of 2 reasons. One being due to
Manchester United playing in red and the other was because it
blended in with the main image. I then included a masthead
which included the first name of the team. I then included a
price and the issue number. The last thing I added was a
heading at the bottom of the page as well as drop shadows on
the masthead and the boxes to make them stand out from the
image.

10. EXPERIMENT 3
For this I experimented doing a page inside of the magazine. For this I thought that
I would look good if I looked at the current and past number 10’a. I did this because
I looked at an existing magazine and thought that it looked aesthetically pleasing.
To do this I imported the 3 images from Google but then I edited them. I changed
the exposure, saturation and brightness. This made the images my own. I then
used a font of which I got of dafont. I used this font due to it looking like something
you would see on the back of a football shirt and due to it being bold and standing
out. I then created a clipping mask so that the pictures were behind the numbers as
shown. I didn’t know what to include for the background however I changed it
several times and experimented with different shades of blue, red and even grey
however I felt that this one was the best. I then included the names of the players. I
messed around with the fond a lot and have gone in to more detail on this in the
next slide. I chose these colors and this font though due to it standing out and
because these are Manchester United’s colors. I included the white drop shadow
due to it pushing the font out and making it stand out. After that I included the
yellow due to it standing out and also I wanted to have something bright and vibrant
on this page. I included a little bit about the players in that bit. The final thing I
added was the paint splashes. This is because the tutor thought that it would push
the pictures out a bit more and also make it look better. I think that it does this and
does look better. I changed the colors of these to a dark bluish color. This is due to
it fitting in with the background however it still made the images stand out more.
Overall I feel this experiment was successful as I learnt new skills of which I will
include in my final piece.

11. For my 3rd experiment of a page I tried out various different things on my font. For the first one I used a white drop shadow which
helped the font stick out more. I also used a reflected gradient. This linked in with the colors of Manchester United. For the second
one I just had a black font with a white drop shadow. This compared the one below looks a lot better and stands out more. This
would be good as a heading on a page of a a magazine as it’s clearer to read and also stands out more. The black font doesn’t stick
out much just looks a bit boring. The one below is a black one with a black drop shadow. This sticks out a bit more than just a black
one however doesn’t really stick out too much and wouldn’t be the best for a heading on this background. His would look better on a
black background. After them I tried some other gradients. These suited the Manchester United color scheme and did stand out.
The first one was possibly a linear gradient and the second one was reflected. These both stood out and looked good however I
prefers the linear one. I also included a white drop shadow behind them. This is to push them out from the background more.
Messing around with fonts has helped me as when it comes to my production I will be able to easily choose a font I like. I learnt how
to do these in my experiment so will be able to easily do them in my final piece.

16. Mood board Analysis
For my mood board I looked at several different things of which will feature in my magazine. I wanted to include a mood
board which featured past and present players of Manchester united. For this I included 20 or so players who have played or
are currently playing for Manchester united now. This was because in my fanzine I plan to include at least 2 pages of
players. For this I many compare past and present players in a good looking graphic. I may however just talk about them.
The other mood board I did was the past managers and the present. This was because I will include a page or 2 about the
managers. This will maybe be comparing past and present. For this I could look at past results, win percentages and also
how many games they lasted. These aren’t all the Manchester united managers however they are all the recent ones and
the well known ones. I then finally included a mood board which featured elements of Manchester united, for example the
kits the badge. I also included some graphics and colors of Manchester united. When it comes to production I will include
these colors as well as shades of these. I will also include some graphics. This is because they will look good and also due
to them being appealing. Overall my mood board has helped me. This is because when it comes to production I can
implement these ideas that I have thought of due to the mood board. One idea is to include a graphic using the manager or
present and past players. I have also thought of various different backgrounds I could include. I think that I'm more of a
visual learner so mood boards for me are effective.

17. Masthead: This will be something football related or
something that links with Manchester united. This would be
something like I did in my experiment, ‘Manchester
together’.
Main image: This will be most likely a football player or a
collective of players. This will fill most the page.
Heading: I will include one or two headings. These will
indicate to the audience what's inside. I wont include any
more than 2 though due to this being a fanzine and usually
fanzine covers don’t include many words on them.
Colors: for the colors and the background I will include a
patterned background of the colors of Manchester united. I
will included red as the primary color. I will then include
different shades of red and will include black and yellow.
These are the colors that future on the badge.
Font: I will include font that looks good and also football
related. I will also include font that is appealing to the
audience. This will be a font similar to the one I used in my
experiments.

18. This will be the players page and will feature 3 players. This will be
similar to my experiment. This will include past and present. This
will be around the number 1. this is due to goalkeepers having a
huge effect on this club and there has been some great keepers.
Images: these will be of 3 keepers. One being the current one
David De Gea. Another being Edwin van der sar and the last one
being Peter Schmeichel. I will include this in the numbers. This is
like my experiment.
Headings: this will be the players name then I will include some
information underneath them. The font for there name will be
noticeable and will stand out. These will possibly include a
gradient and a drop shadow.
Colors; for this page I will most likely include a patterned
background. This will include red and different shades of red. If this
doesn't’t suit the elements on the page I will include a gradient
background of a color that suits.

19. On this page I will include a graphic. This graphic will include a
player however will show his stats. This will be appealing and will
look good on this page. I will include colors that stand out on this
background. This red background is not set in stone at the
moment. I may choose to have a shade of white as my
background. This is due to myself wanting to use red in the
graphic and it wont stand out on red background.
The player will be someone who currently plays. This will be
someone like Marcus Rashford. This is because he is one of
Manchester United's most recognizable players at the moment.

20. For page 4 I will include a page which is specifically on the
history on Manchester United. On this I could include a graphic
which shows there major trophies. This could be shown as
shown. I could include edited photos of the trophies. These
possibly would be cartoon images. I would then include some
information about them. I may also choose to include a graphic of
all there trophies. This may be more practice. This would be like
the one shown below. This does seem like it would look better.
Colors: the colors I will include on this will be red and also silver.
I will include silver due to trophies being that color. This will also
stand out on the red background.

21. For my 5th page this will be on the fans of Manchester united. This is
because Manchester united has one of the largest fan bases in the
word for a football team. This is shown on match days. On this page I
will include a blurred crowd and will blend it in to the red background.
This will look good. Then underneath the crowd I will include some stats
about the Manchester united fans. These will be things such as
attendance and also how many Manchester united fans there are
approximately. I will also include information such as what percent of
Manchester supports Manchester united. For this I will write these in a
white font which will stand out and have little graphics near them.

22. For my 6th page I will include a page about Manchester united and historical
results. These will be games that have won them the title or games such as
champions league final. To show these I will include a small table and
include something above it. This will look neat and tidy and will look
professional. This will also stand out and give the audience the information
they want. I will include about 10 or 15 results.
I will also include a different background. This will be red however will
probably include a pattern on it or a gradient. This is due to it being a bit
boring to look at for a while.

23. On my 7th page I plan on included upcoming fixtures. For this I
may include either the next 3 upcoming results spread out on the
page. This is shown on the first layout. On this I will include a
landscape picture of the stadium they are playing out and the
fixture in a rectangle on that image. Will also include more
information. This could be past results, the referee or also the
past attendance. This is something I will consider when doing
this. The colors I will include on this will be white due to it
standing out on most images.
For my other idea I may choose to include a table of all of
Manchester united fixtures left of this season. I may choose to
include this however I am not sure what I would include above
this. Maybe an image of Manchester united vs. city. This is
because this is a highly anticipated fixture.

24. For my 8th page I will have a page based on predictions and where I
think Manchester united will finish in the premier league. I will also
include predictions in the Europa league, FA cup and also the league
cup. I may also include some other predictions which are from reliable
sources. Such as BT and sky sports pundits. On this page I will
include 3 or 4 rectangles. These rectangles will feature predictions.
The first box will be on the premier league. The color for this box will
be light green just like the logo. I will then include an orange box
underneath. This will include the Europa league predictions. After that
I will include an FA cup box and a league cup box. In these boxes I
will include predictions as well as history in that langue or cup.
The background will be either something plain such as white but with
a gradient or red. This is based on how they suit the rest of the page.

25. On the 9th page I will include graphics as well as
information between Manchester united and its rivals.
For this page I will compare Manchester united with
city. For this I will include a graphic including stats from
both teams. These would be trophies but also the
amount of times they have played each other and how
many they have won. For the background I will have
one half red and the other blue. This is to represent the
2 teams. I will then include the stats in a clean readable
font. I will then include ‘Manchester derby’ at the top of
the page. I may also choose to merge the 2 logos
together. This would look good.

26. on page number 10 I plan on included a page about old Trafford.
This would include information about the stadium and would
include images form the past as well as the present. The
information I would include information about the attendance,
sponsors and also the stands of which are at Manchester united.
To show this I would show one picture of old Trafford and then
underneath have a picture of old Trafford in the past and then when
it was first built. This will show the history to the audience. For the
background I will include a lighter red color. This is because it suits
the colors of Manchester united. This is also because it would suit
the images.

27. On this page I am going to include an image of the three most
recent Manchester united mangers and compare them. This is
going to be shown by a graphic. This will show the ears in
charge, win percentage, trophies and also how many games
they lasted. This will be done by me showing Louis van gaal,
mourhinio and then ole Gunnar. This will start from left to right
and will show there stats underneath them.

28. The first thing I will feature on my 12th page is the title. The title
will say current form. This is because this is a page based on
Manchester united current form. The font for this will be large
and noticeable. This will be white and the background will be
red. The background will also feature some other shapes on
however these will be a different shade of red or black. The first
2 boxes are going to be information's surrounding there recent
results. This will state there position during the fist 6 games and
there position now. This will compare stats form the beginning
of the season to now. I will also talk about players and how they
are playing. The box underneath will be a picture of the players
who are playing well now. I may choose to include 2 players.
This is what most likely will happen. I will edit these picture. To
do this I will mess about with the saturation, brightness and
exposure.

29. For this page I plane on making a graphic which is based on
Manchester united old manager Alex Ferguson. This is
because he is a Manchester united legend and also there
most famous manager. For this I will include the premier
league trophy however he will be behind the trophy. This is
because he has won 20 of these with Manchester united.
This is the most anyone has won. I would then include a red
background behind this. This is again because they are
Manchester united colors. This graphic will take up the
majority of the page. This will look appealing to the
audience. This is due to it standing out and also because of
the effects I will add on this. These are drop shadow and
also embossing. I will include some text underneath the
graphic. This will be something like the number 20. this is
due to him winning 20 league titles.

30. All these layouts will be spread over 2 columns. This will
be done on InDesign. The layouts I have done done look
that tidy however that was just so I could see how things
would fit. This would be more tidy in my final product.
This will be neatly spread out within a 2 columned a5
document. I will use rulers to make sure everything is in
line. This will make it look professional. Images can
stretch over 2 column however when I include a text box
and have a block of text this will most likely fill one
column then if needed I will type in the next column. This
will make it more separated and look neater. I can
choose the separation distance and change it to what I
want. All the elements of my layouts which are messy
and not lined up would be lined up

31. For my cover this will be my layout. This will feture a masthead. This
is the largest box.

32. Colors
Throughout my fanzine I will include the majority of these
colors. This is because these are colors of Manchester united.
The primary color throughout my fanzine will be red. This is
because this is the main color of Manchester united. For
some of my backgrounds I would implement some of these
other shades of red. This will make the background look less
boring and will make it look more appealing to the audience. I
will use the black and the silver color frequently as well
throughout my fanzine. This is because they would stick out
as a heading or as font. They would look good on the red
background. The yellow color would be used for elements of
my fanzine of which I want to stand out. This will stand out
due to it being vibrant and will be on a darker background.

33. Contingency plan
PROBLEM SOLUTION
Memory stick corrupts or I loose it. To stop this I will have to back it up
onto the desktop and also use services
such as one drive for backup.
The computer suddenly shuts down. To stop this from affecting my work I
will frequently save my work to the
desktop or to memory stick. I will save
my work every 10 minutes.
Mouse brakes so can not do
production.
For this I will have to make sure I am
extra careful when using the mouse.
This includes not drinking near it. If this
does brake move on to a free computer.
Adobe Photoshop doesn’t work so that I
cant make my fanzine.
If this occurs let the tutor know. If no
one is present find a computer with a
working photoshop on it.

34. Style Sheet For my style sheet I looked a various different fonts on dafont. I
then chose a selected few of which I liked. I used the name
Manchester fanzine for my style sheet however this was mainly
because I don’t have a set in stone name for my fanzine yet
although this will probably include united, Manchester or red.
