2. MY ARTIST SO FAR …
Over the production of my music video and ancillary tasks I have created an artist
which I have likened to famous front men such as Morrissey, Jim Morrison and Robert
Smith. I have used similar conventions that are used by specific artists in order to
duplicate the edgy style to my artist. I have named my artist Tim Starr. I feel that this
is a successful attribute to the star image of my artist as I feel that the simplicity of
the name draws the attention away from the star image and focusing on the music.
This is a typical aspect for many alternative/rock artists, as I have previously
researched, the main focus for artists like my own is to promote the music rather than
the star image and style. On the front cover of my digi pack and poster I would like to
present a similar quirky style to artists that I have likened to my artist. I will be
focusing on a few aspects that will be included on my digi pack including the logo,
track listing and album name. When I go to take more pictures of my artist I will use
the same costume and make up to present a simple yet effective star image
concerning my artist.
It is important to think carefully about what I will call my album and how it will be
presented to my target audience, in order to receive successful feedback. I will be
brain storming some of the extra information that will be included on my digi pack.
INITIAL IDEAS
MY ARTIST TIM STARR
I have created a star image for my artist which is quirky, different and strange, all relating to the track that I have created a
music video to. I would like to carry on this idea of strangeness and madness through out my digi pack. I have taken some
pictures for the poster and digi pack for promotional purposes, however in order to use the images for the poster and
website I will have to use the images on the digi pack to show continuity, linking all products together. This continuity will
benefit my target audience, as they will be able to recognise and become familiar with the artist.
4. AUDIENCE FEEDBACK | ALBUM NAME IDEAS
After brainstorming my ideas for my digi
pack album name, I then took advantage of
social media and asked a selective few of
my target audience to suggest which album
name they preferred or liked the idea of. By
using social media as a form of audience
feedback, this will enable me to gain
feedback more efficiently.

6. After gaining feedback from my audience I have decided that I would like to decide between two album names.
‘Sanity of a Different Kind’, ‘Place to Bury Strangers’ and as a member of my focus group elaborated and developed the
name, ‘Hour of the mad man’, and transformed the name into ‘Mad Hour’, I prefer this version of the name as I feel that
this version is far less deterministic, than the first suggestion. I feel that these album names could be the most
successful as they are less determinist from the other album names.
Considering the feedback that I have gained from my focus group online I have decided that the name, Sanity of a
Different Kind is the most successful idea for the name of the album. As members of my focus group have suggested,
Sanity of a Different Kind does not present a too deterministic idea of being ‘strange’. The name connotes a sense that
being different and being insane is not strange or wrong but rather different and suggestive. I also feel as if the title is
recognisable and stands out to my target audience, whilst also relating the name of the music video of the artist. The
name will also cover the meaning of the tracks on the album, as the focal point lies in being strange or different to
society.
After coming up with an Artist name and an album name for my artist and my digi pack, I will now have too focus on
how I am going to present the titles in the form of font, size colour and logo. I will be creating and designing a logo, to
successfully brand my artist adding to their star mage and persona.
