3. Research
The strengths of my research are the magazines I researched as they are great and made the design of my
magazine easier understandable, for the future where I had to make my final magazine. Another strength of
my research are that I could look at the key information of my work and decide on what to include in my
final product. This was helpful because it shows how the final product will look like and how to improve it
even more. Another strength is that the information is clear and easy to read, therefore when I need to
research for my final product it will be brilliant as I just remind myself the key features I can add in my game.
Another strength is that its set out well and set out for others as I might forget the meaning behind my
information and remember everything as it is set out to remember instantly.
The research was unhelpful because it slowed me down to put more detail on over slides. This would mean I
would of got higher grade, if I had more time on the other parts of the project. The effect of this is that I lose
marks on the project. Another problem was that it was confusing and didn’t give clear questions on what to
do. The effect is that I couldn’t make clear answers and achieve a clearer answer. The things I would improve
on is that it would do more detail, therefore I would achieve a higher mark. I could of done this better by
taking the work home or doing some at lunch to make sure I am happy with my research PowerPoint. I then
think the writing had mistakes, for example spelling and grammar. I could of improved this by checking and
the slides for errors and correcting them. Therefore if I had more time I would have gained more detail and a
better mark. Another weakness is that the information was harder to find as you had to find images that
were to your ideas and was confusing, to understand what to talk to about as I didn't’t understand certain
questions. This had a big impact on my product as I had to find images to match my ideas, this caused me to
waste time because I couldn't’t find similar images therefore this made me waste time on the next slide and
lose marks.
4. Planning
The planning I did for my final product was to choose a style of design that would not get copyright issues and look eye
catching at the same time. I then collected images that were similar or inspired me to do the design that was suitable for my
design. I then created a design plan for the magazine, this helped me dramatically as I knew/gave me a idea of what the
design was going to be for my final product. The strengths of my planning were to find the right colours and movement. This
improved my final product by grabbing the viewers attention. I then found myself being great at choosing the right designs
as this would achieve a better mark for my final product as it would help me and educate myself to make it better. The
strength of my planning is the detail and structure and layout, therefore it will be presented calmly to me and will be easy to
read off. Therefore I knew straight away about what sort of my magazine I was going to make, therefore I saved time, so
later I could spend more time on different areas of my product. Another strength to my research is that I planned out what
sort of design and game I was going to create. Which allowed me to save time and allow me to build upon different ideas
such as what I was going to say and what topic I was going to discuss. Another strength of my planning is that it was quick to
make and easy to understand what to do from the questions.
The weaknesses of my research were brief and sometimes hardly understandable to read and get your head around.
Therefore I did not understand on a later date. I could of done this better by making the writing more understandable and a
better layout. This happened to my text on my magazine plan, therefore I didn’t remember what topics and discussions I
was on about. Another weakness is that its confusing to remember what tools you used, one of the questions are to state
what tools you used. I thought this was a waste of time as I had find specific types of tools I used and explain why they are
great or awful. I was confused and didn't’t understand which resulted in time being wasted and resulting in a less detail and
causing a lower mark. The weakness of my planning was spending to much time on the style sheet this effected other
parts of the planning as I didn’t have much time on the layout as I was confused on what to do for the style sheet.
Another weakness is its hard to follow the information as you can get muddled up on certain points and cant
remember key information. I would improve the layout of my work as it would be easier to follow and understand
for later events such as the final product. This would give me a better understanding and a higher mark because the
overall final work will be great.
5. Time Management
I did not mange my time well as I wished I had do more work and detail on other parts. I do think if I were to do
this again I would successfully complete many projects on time and be well detailed. For example I focused
more on the research as this would give me better ideas and higher marks for the final product. If I had more
time I would improve my planning as I was confused and didn’t have enough time to complete it correctly. I do
think if I were to do this again I would defiantly focus on the more important projects as this would greatly
improve my grade, therefore I would of added better effects to the real thing. Overall if I would had additional
time I would have made better designs and better effects to the overall final piece. I would of wanted to spend
more time on the final product as it was worth more marks, therefore I could of added more effects and
different styles.
Overall I didn’t manage my time well and lost marks, however I did manage to complete my project on time
and if I were to have done things differently I would of spent more time on the final product than research.
Therefore I would of gained more marks and added more effects, different effects to be used in the final
product.
6. Technical Qualities
The location for the other product is the middle of nowhere this tells the audience its about survival of the fittest, this will
widen the target market as it will interest more people with this genre. Where my product is in the location of a dark and
lonely house filled with dangerous suspects, this will appeal to a different gender and audience resulting it being different
to the other magazine. My product has a price tag, which tells the customer how much the magazine costs, where the other
magazine does not have price resulting in less people knowing the price. Therefore people might tend to buy my magazine
than the other. My design is dull and appeals to people who want a game that’s scary and gory, therefore its different to the
other magazine, however the magazine does have gore in but not dull and scary. Therefore my magazine will appeal to
other audience and have a wider magazine. My title stands out more than the other magazine as the text style is appealing
where the other magazine is not appealing to the audiences. The adverting on my magazine is just right and not provoking
the audiences and getting in the way, where there are no adverts resulting it not being supportive to their games and
overall doesn’t tell much to the read/customer.
7. Technical Qualities
The design is similar as there is a big image that contains similar aspects and layout to my magazine, this
great because it makes the reader interested and wants to continue on reading. Another similarity is that its
both eye catching and they both draw the reader in, therefore resulting in more magazines being sold to the
audience. However there are differences such as my magazine is about reviewing the game called
“murdered soul suspect”, where the other magazine is talking about “summer time” where it has nothing to
do with my genre/topic of my magazine. Another difference is that my text is on both sides and more detail
than the other magazine, this tells me I have done more work and research than the other magazine as
there is more images and text seen on mine. My title and text has more different styling than the other
magazine. Another difference is the quality and design are different to my magazine as there are plain and
dull space in the other product, this tells me it doesn’t make the audience interested in the overall magazine.
Overall the magazines are similar as they have images and text, this tells us we have the basics similar,
however if you look deeper into more depth there are many differences such as the layout, design and
images.
8. Aesthetic Qualities
My work looks inspiring and delightful to the human eye. This shouts to the viewer its about mystery and detective work. I
do think its creative as it shows how terrifying and dangerous the afterlife can be. My favourite visual is the detail and
design that has been achieved to make this gorgeous game. It also seems soft and warm to the eye as it draws you in to
read more. The specific image I like is the background images of the main character because you can see the curiousness of
the characters face as he's in life or death situations. I feel I could improve the amount of detail that’s been put onto my
front cover and my double sided spread, as I feel there could be more written about this wonderful game. I feel I could
improve the design of the images by making a better edge. I could do this by using the magic wand tool to create a
smoother and sharper design that would stand out to the viewer. I do think I should of improved the style of the text by
making the text appeal more to the audience by making it stand out to the audience, so that it stands out more than the
other magazines so that its sold more and targeted at more people. I could of done this by selecting a better text style. The
design of the magazine tells me how adventurous and enjoyable the magazine can be. I do think the work needs improving
as the background have not been cropped sharply and smoothly as I hopped. I would of used the magic wand tool if I were
to do this again as it would make it sharper and bolder to the audience therefore making them want to know more. The
strengths are that it tells the audience how adventurous and unique the magazine can be.
9. Audience Appeal
I have appealed to 16 and upwards, the reason I have chosen this is because it does not show any inappropriate images and gameplay to the
viewer. However it does have action and in it which may cause distress amongst people who are under the age of 16. The age and social status
(the persons specific personality). I believe I have appealed to my target audience because I have focused on aiming at 16 + years old and
focused on aiming at the personality of people interested in games and magazines, also people who like detective as the game I am reviewing on
my magazine is a detective game called “murdered soul suspect”. The title will appeal to audience because I have chosen to put the text at the
top is because it shows the customer how important the magazine is, also what the magazine is about. This will tell the reader the magazine is
about a game that might be great or awful and will become interested in the magazine to found out if its worth buying. The reason why I have
chosen to put the colour in orange it to make the magazine stand out and become visible from far away to draw customers in. the reason I put
the price as £1.99 is because it’s the standard price for the magazine, resulting in more purchases as the product is not over priced. The reason I
placed the price tag in the bottom right is to make it visible to the customer, but not visible so that they don’t decide quickly that its expensive.
The colours I have chosen will appeal to the game as well as it will match with the same colour as “murdered soul suspect”, the game. This will
become more understandable to the reader, resulting in more magazines being sold. The design and text has bright colours as this will stand out
to the audience as it will grab their attention because the magazine will stand out like a soar thumb. It will also catch the customers eye,
therefore resulting in widening the target market. The colours are simple and straight to the point. This is great because it speaks for it self and
relatively easy to understand as there is no confusing patterns. The colours are vibrant and noticeable, this Is great as it will draw costumers in.
The style font stands out because it tells the viewer/customer to buy the game because it grabs the viewers attention. I used this throughout my
magazine e.g. the title as well as the text to show how unique and eye catching the game can get. It will also appeal to any gender because its
nor male or female its unisex. This will appeal to more people as it will widen their target market.

– I liked the choice of dark colouring as it relates to the game. I also like
the way the cover is poisoned within the layout. For example the game
character is at the left side with a really cleverly done title leaving the
information on the right side.
• What improvements could have been made to the product?
I think you need to think about about the visual aspect of the cover and
less of the text as you have too much description which wouldn’t attract
any customers. Also the choice of colouring for the text is quite
uncomfortable to read. The background image is pointless as its covered
by text and other images so you should make it more simple.

I like the headiness on the page with the question marks. I like the way that
bar code and price tag are positioned as it looks official and something that I
would like to buy. I also like the information given on the front cover about
the game as it is like a little synopsis of the magazine and the content inside.
• What improvements could have been made to the product?
– On the first page of the magazine it is filled with pictures I feel that this is filler
so there's less information. The information given in the magazine touches the
page and needs to be spaced out more on the page. On the front of the
magazine the PlayStation 4 logo is hard to read this could be improved the
image at the top of page one doesn't’t match page two its no symmetrical its
ok but could look better.

magazine I disagree that the PlayStation 4 logo is hard to read as I don’t think this should be improved. “The
image at the top of page one doesn't’t match page two its no symmetrical its ok but could look better”, the
reason I didn’t make it symmetrical is because the printer would cut some parts of the page off, therefore if I
hadn’t changed it would not come out right and got rid off parts of my magazine.

I would change the choice of colouring as I think the front cover doesn’t stand out more than it should, therefore resulting in less magazines
being sold as the customer wouldn’t see it or attract them to my magazine. I would change the layout as its un comfortable to read certain text,
therefore I would move the text away from colours that match the colour and images that may distract the reader, resulting in more people
disliking my magazine. I also need to change the visual aspect of the cover and less of the text as I have too much description and resulting in not
attracting any customers. I will also change the choice of colouring for the text as its quite uncomfortable to read. I will also change the
background image as its pointless because its covered by text and other images so I would change it to be more simple. I will then change the
title to something more catchy and more easy to remember. This will attract customers as they will become loyal and understanding to the
magazine and tend to buy my magazine than others. I will also change the game as there was not important information about the game and
was also popular to begin with resulting in people already knowing about the game, this will decrease the number of products sold, as there will
be a lot of competition to deal with. I will also change the tools I used as they didn’t do the job or efficiently as I wanted because they were
either the wrong tool to begin with or hard to understand. I will also change the layout as it was hard to understand and was also hard to follow,
this will decrease the number of products sold as the audience will be bored and frustrated with the annoying layout and design. The things I
would change/improve are I would do more detail, therefore I would achieve a higher mark. I could of done this better by taking the work home
