Research
• I think the strengths of my research is that the magazines I was researching were
advertising products that I have used (in this case games that I have played) this
allowed me to better understand features such as why they had chosen certain
color schemes and this helped me decide what color scheme I should use for my
product. My research also helped me to decide how I should lay out my
information and what features I should add to my product. For example the
research I did caused me to implement the feature of adding the “Thank you for
helping us reach 2 million followers” because I saw similar stuff on other popular
products and I thought that it would help make my product more appealing to the
audience.
• I think the weaknesses of my research is that I didn’t go into enough detail about
other products. I think that if I did my product would be of much better quality
because I would have variety of ideas and I would be able to make my product in
more detail. My research could be improved if I researched more products so that I
had a variety of themes and ideas to look at.
Planning
• I think that one of the strengths of my planning is that I focused on one
idea more then the rest because I already had a rough idea of what I
wanted to do before I even started the planning. This allowed me to talk
about my idea in more depth and make a better product overall.
• However I think one of the weaknesses of my planning was also focusing
on just one product more then the others because this means that if
something went wrong when making my product and I had to change
what idea I was going to do I would be lacking much information and it
might become much harder to reach the deadlines for my product.
Time Management
• I think that in this project I managed my time well. This is because I completed all
my work with some time spare to go over the work that I had done and improve it
so that it is the best quality I can make it. For example this spare time allowed me
to make my double page spread for my magazine more detailed and to do more
research on the information I was putting onto it. This overall helped to make my
information more accurate and interesting for my audience.
• If I had more time to produce my work I would of tried more of a variety of ideas
and tested things on Photoshop that I haven’t done before because it might help
any future products that I make be more detailed and appealing.
Technical Qualities
I got a lot of my ideas for my magazine off the official magazine
bellow. For example on the magazine below the creator has
added an effect to the writing used for the writing, this
influenced me to add the crack effect to the backgrounds used
round the borders, backgrounds and other features. I also did
the idea of putting the main character in the background so
that if people have seen this game or any advertisement or
anything for this game there will be a much higher chance of
recognising what topic the magazine is based on.
Another aspect about my magazine that is similar with this product is
that I have tried to use colours that match the tone/brightness of the
colours/light in the background. For example for mine I have used colours
such as blue, red and light pink because they are bright colours and I
have used the colours light pink and blue as my main colours because the
light pink matches the sunset in the background and the blue is a colour
to symbolise that this magazine has been created by me. While also
helping to make the magazine look more appealing and eye catching
towards the audience.
Technical Qualities
Again with this design I have made my layout like this so that you
can clearly see the main character/characters. We can see that this
has also been used for this mass effect 3 spread sheet so that you
(the audience) have something aesthetically pleasing to look at
while also having interesting information to read so that they can
examine the character first and then find out what they're like in
more detail.
The difference with my product
to this other product is that I
have stuck to a dark tone of
colours that I think best suit
the background while also
resembling that this magazine
is made by me and not another
competitor. I have used the
blue to do this because I used
this blue on the main cover of
my magazine for the same
reason, while I used the colour
grey to match the picture in
the background and blend in
with the dark tone of colours.
Aesthetic Qualities
I think that my work was good because of
the colour scheme that I have used. I think
that this colour scheme best suits my
magazine because of how the colours
match/blend in with the background
image, while also looking appealing for the
targeted audience and making the
magazine stand out more. I also like the
image I have used for the background
because it is not only bright and more
likely to get peoples attention if they walk
past but by looking at it the audience gets
an idea of what the game will be like, the
main characters in it and the
tone/environment they will be in.
I think that a weakness of my magazine is that the colour
scheme on the main cover if different to the double
page spread page. I think this is a bad thing because it
shows a lack of consistency and might be unappealing to
the target audience of 16-20 year old males.
Aesthetic Qualities
I like how on my double page
spread I have one main image
as the background based to
the main game while also
having another small photo
that is based on a add on for
the game e.g DLC. I also like
the effect that I have added
round the border because I
think that It gives it a retro
look which will automatically
make the audience realise
that this magazine is about
gaming and gives it a
signature look compared to
other games.
I also like how the information I have put onto my work
doesn't’t cover any important features of the background. For
example I have avoided covering the main characters and game
title with text to help make my magazine more appealing.
Audience Appeal
I think that one of the things that i
have done to help make my product
appeal to my audience is adding this
specific background. I think this
because the background not only
shows the reader what the game
actually looks like but it shows you
the characters, the environment, it
sets the tone and it shows the
audience that if they play this game
it really will be a struggle for survival
like a apocalyptic game should be.
This will be appealing for the
audience because of the massive
amount of information it gives about
the game without even reading
anything.
Another feature which I think makes my magazine more
appealing is how on the cover I have talked about
multiple games and gaming events. This lets the
audience know right away that there is a large variety of
things to look at and read about in this magazine. This
will not only make my magazine more appealing but will
attract a bigger audience
Audience Appeal
I think that the colours on my double
page spread help to make it appeal
to my target audience because it not
only blends in with the background
but it helps to set the tone and effect
the reader because it gives the
reader the apocalyptic feeling and
the idea of danger. These colours
are also going to appeal to a bigger
audience too because I have made
sure that I have used colours that
don’t effect people who are colour
blind.
I think the background helps an extremely large
amount in making my double page spread appeal
to my target audience because not only does It
give the audience something visual to look at but
it also shows the audience things without
needing to write more information. For example
this allows people who have never heard or seen
of the game The Last Of Us to see the main
characters however one of the reasons why I
chose this background was because of how you
can sort of see the characters emotions and
figure out what they're actually going to be like in
game. I have personally played the game before
so I think that the facial reactions on this
background accurately represent what the
characters are like. This will hopefully make the
reader more attached to the character when
reading about the game and make them more
likely to buy the magazine and game.

Feedback
Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
• I liked the colours that you used for the text
on your products
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
• I think your product could be better if you
added more to it instead of just massive
amounts of infomation
Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
• I like both your background for your cover and
double page spread both have the main
characters of the game on them.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
• I think it could be better if you used the same
colour scheme on both products
Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
• I like the amount of detail you have put on
your product
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
• I think your double page spread could be
better if you add a larger amount of features
to make it look less bland
Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback? I agree with the fact that I could of added a
larger verity of things on my double page spread instead of
just large amounts of information to make it look more
appealing however I think I should still keep the same size of
information and detail because the point of a double page
spread is to talk about the product I am advertising .
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
• I disagree with the idea of using the same colour scheme for
both products because the colour schemes I have used have
been made to match the backgrounds and both products
have different roles to play meaning that they will have
different features to one another
Peer Feedback Summary
If I could make any changes to my products I would have added more features
to my double page spread to make it more appealing overall and to balance out
the amount of information with the amount of aesthetics to look at and decipher
the information yourself. I would do this because I think it would help to sell
more copy’s of my magazine while also making it more attractive to a much
larger audience.

7. evaluation

  • 3. Research • I think the strengths of my research is that the magazines I was researching were advertising products that I have used (in this case games that I have played) this allowed me to better understand features such as why they had chosen certain color schemes and this helped me decide what color scheme I should use for my product. My research also helped me to decide how I should lay out my information and what features I should add to my product. For example the research I did caused me to implement the feature of adding the “Thank you for helping us reach 2 million followers” because I saw similar stuff on other popular products and I thought that it would help make my product more appealing to the audience. • I think the weaknesses of my research is that I didn’t go into enough detail about other products. I think that if I did my product would be of much better quality because I would have variety of ideas and I would be able to make my product in more detail. My research could be improved if I researched more products so that I had a variety of themes and ideas to look at.
  • 4. Planning • I think that one of the strengths of my planning is that I focused on one idea more then the rest because I already had a rough idea of what I wanted to do before I even started the planning. This allowed me to talk about my idea in more depth and make a better product overall. • However I think one of the weaknesses of my planning was also focusing on just one product more then the others because this means that if something went wrong when making my product and I had to change what idea I was going to do I would be lacking much information and it might become much harder to reach the deadlines for my product.
  • 5. Time Management • I think that in this project I managed my time well. This is because I completed all my work with some time spare to go over the work that I had done and improve it so that it is the best quality I can make it. For example this spare time allowed me to make my double page spread for my magazine more detailed and to do more research on the information I was putting onto it. This overall helped to make my information more accurate and interesting for my audience. • If I had more time to produce my work I would of tried more of a variety of ideas and tested things on Photoshop that I haven’t done before because it might help any future products that I make be more detailed and appealing.
  • 6. Technical Qualities I got a lot of my ideas for my magazine off the official magazine bellow. For example on the magazine below the creator has added an effect to the writing used for the writing, this influenced me to add the crack effect to the backgrounds used round the borders, backgrounds and other features. I also did the idea of putting the main character in the background so that if people have seen this game or any advertisement or anything for this game there will be a much higher chance of recognising what topic the magazine is based on. Another aspect about my magazine that is similar with this product is that I have tried to use colours that match the tone/brightness of the colours/light in the background. For example for mine I have used colours such as blue, red and light pink because they are bright colours and I have used the colours light pink and blue as my main colours because the light pink matches the sunset in the background and the blue is a colour to symbolise that this magazine has been created by me. While also helping to make the magazine look more appealing and eye catching towards the audience.
  • 7. Technical Qualities Again with this design I have made my layout like this so that you can clearly see the main character/characters. We can see that this has also been used for this mass effect 3 spread sheet so that you (the audience) have something aesthetically pleasing to look at while also having interesting information to read so that they can examine the character first and then find out what they're like in more detail. The difference with my product to this other product is that I have stuck to a dark tone of colours that I think best suit the background while also resembling that this magazine is made by me and not another competitor. I have used the blue to do this because I used this blue on the main cover of my magazine for the same reason, while I used the colour grey to match the picture in the background and blend in with the dark tone of colours.
  • 8. Aesthetic Qualities I think that my work was good because of the colour scheme that I have used. I think that this colour scheme best suits my magazine because of how the colours match/blend in with the background image, while also looking appealing for the targeted audience and making the magazine stand out more. I also like the image I have used for the background because it is not only bright and more likely to get peoples attention if they walk past but by looking at it the audience gets an idea of what the game will be like, the main characters in it and the tone/environment they will be in. I think that a weakness of my magazine is that the colour scheme on the main cover if different to the double page spread page. I think this is a bad thing because it shows a lack of consistency and might be unappealing to the target audience of 16-20 year old males.
  • 9. Aesthetic Qualities I like how on my double page spread I have one main image as the background based to the main game while also having another small photo that is based on a add on for the game e.g DLC. I also like the effect that I have added round the border because I think that It gives it a retro look which will automatically make the audience realise that this magazine is about gaming and gives it a signature look compared to other games. I also like how the information I have put onto my work doesn't’t cover any important features of the background. For example I have avoided covering the main characters and game title with text to help make my magazine more appealing.
  • 10. Audience Appeal I think that one of the things that i have done to help make my product appeal to my audience is adding this specific background. I think this because the background not only shows the reader what the game actually looks like but it shows you the characters, the environment, it sets the tone and it shows the audience that if they play this game it really will be a struggle for survival like a apocalyptic game should be. This will be appealing for the audience because of the massive amount of information it gives about the game without even reading anything. Another feature which I think makes my magazine more appealing is how on the cover I have talked about multiple games and gaming events. This lets the audience know right away that there is a large variety of things to look at and read about in this magazine. This will not only make my magazine more appealing but will attract a bigger audience
  • 11. Audience Appeal I think that the colours on my double page spread help to make it appeal to my target audience because it not only blends in with the background but it helps to set the tone and effect the reader because it gives the reader the apocalyptic feeling and the idea of danger. These colours are also going to appeal to a bigger audience too because I have made sure that I have used colours that don’t effect people who are colour blind. I think the background helps an extremely large amount in making my double page spread appeal to my target audience because not only does It give the audience something visual to look at but it also shows the audience things without needing to write more information. For example this allows people who have never heard or seen of the game The Last Of Us to see the main characters however one of the reasons why I chose this background was because of how you can sort of see the characters emotions and figure out what they're actually going to be like in game. I have personally played the game before so I think that the facial reactions on this background accurately represent what the characters are like. This will hopefully make the reader more attached to the character when reading about the game and make them more likely to buy the magazine and game.
  • 13. Feedback 1 • What did you like about the product? • I liked the colours that you used for the text on your products • What improvements could have been made to the product? • I think your product could be better if you added more to it instead of just massive amounts of infomation
  • 14. Feedback 2 • What did you like about the product? • I like both your background for your cover and double page spread both have the main characters of the game on them. • What improvements could have been made to the product? • I think it could be better if you used the same colour scheme on both products
  • 15. Feedback 3 • What did you like about the product? • I like the amount of detail you have put on your product • What improvements could have been made to the product? • I think your double page spread could be better if you add a larger amount of features to make it look less bland
  • 16. Peer Feedback Summary • What do you agree with from your peer feedback? I agree with the fact that I could of added a larger verity of things on my double page spread instead of just large amounts of information to make it look more appealing however I think I should still keep the same size of information and detail because the point of a double page spread is to talk about the product I am advertising . • What do you disagree with from your peer feedback? • I disagree with the idea of using the same colour scheme for both products because the colour schemes I have used have been made to match the backgrounds and both products have different roles to play meaning that they will have different features to one another
  • 17. Peer Feedback Summary If I could make any changes to my products I would have added more features to my double page spread to make it more appealing overall and to balance out the amount of information with the amount of aesthetics to look at and decipher the information yourself. I would do this because I think it would help to sell more copy’s of my magazine while also making it more attractive to a much larger audience.
